I haven't felt very motivated to draw lately (what chronic fatigue does to a guy 😔) but I have cracked open my sketchbook a few times. Mostly to doodle TBC.

#honkai impact #I'm really not a fan of the new design direction in honkai #its not because of the individual designs #most of them are fine in a vacuum #its just together they all just sorta blur together for me #and its especially noticeable given how fantastic most of the star rail designs have been #ive been watching witch from mercury recently and it really made me realize just how much i dont like mihoyos art style #for characters at least (big fan of their environments)#the characters in witch from mercury all wear pretty similar clothes (uniforms mostly)#but they all look SO distinct because they go so ham on the body shape and hair and eyes and face shape and everything else #every mihoyo lady just seems to be some pretty lady with long flowing hair and like-#its not objectively bad. I guess I've been thinking about how much you can glimpse about someone from their art, especially writing

I know it's not a 1:1 thing, it's not a "if you like writing whump you're a violent person IRL" situation lmao. But I've been thinking about how I'm afraid my writing is growing stale - maybe not in style, at least I hope not, but how I get obsessed over a few concepts and I keep recyclying them because I love thinking about them and elaborating them, even though that makes my writing even more niche

so it's like. why do i like it? does it say anything about me? or it's just not that deep and has the same value as liking chocolate ice cream?

Maybe it's just discourse that makes me a bit nervous about being judged. And I never even went full unhinged on main :^)

#makuhita #so fun fact about makuhita. this was my favorite pokémon when i was a kid #i don't know *why* it was‚ i just know that me as a kid really liked this pokémon. i think it was something about their eyes and their round #shape that just made me think it was cute. they're certainly not my favorite pokémon anymore as my favorite has shifted over and over #recently as i've been figuring everything out but this one i distinctly remember being my favorite when i was a kid #and that was before i even played rt to know abt the makuhita dojo. it was totally in isolation of that. i really just liked the way it look #ed. i'm pretty sure it's 'cause one of the fuckers in pyrite had a shadow makuhita? and that's how i like. came to figure out they existed #i remember not wanting to purify them bc i thought shadow rush was too good and they kept getting boring moves like focus energy #that i thought were useless bc they didn't do damage and so i thought it was gonna get *another* bad move to replace shadow rush #i dunno it was a whole thing. even after i purified them i remember being so upset when they evolved into hariyama #bc i did not like the way hariyama looked at all and thought it was an abomination compared to makuhita #i think i ended up making a new save file and just mashing B every time they tried to evolve. which i figured out you could do #and that's. that's my makuhita story. every time i see this pokémon i think about that story. because it's so rare #no one ever talks about makuhita so i feel like it's rare that i actually get to remember this. so i still do every time

Decided to design matching diamond and netherite swords for my Minecraft skin

(did my best on the image description but if I’ve got any sword terminology wrong somebody please correct me)

Probably not (gestures at the cutout in the netherite one) I don’t want to think about practicality #god the netherite swords in the game are so… boring #diamond looks nicer just by being a pretty colour #Since the netherite armour gets special shapes the sword should too #I think it should have a fancy crossguard #but anyway for my version I just decided to toss some quartz and gold on there because. nether. and it needed some lighter colours #my art #Minecraft
