From left to right: Madura Siva (Ayurvedic Yoga Expert), Mariam Magsi (Program Lead, Healthy Arts for Seniors), Nadia Pirani (HAFS Participant), Tomée Tzatzanis (Scarborough Arts Support Team) and Zeni Shariff (HAFS Participant)
An Enlightening Virtual Session with Ayurvedic Yoga Practitioner Madura Siva for Healthy Arts for Seniors
As part of the Healthy Arts for Seniors program at Scarborough Arts, our participants were treated to an incredible virtual session led by the highly skilled and compassionate Ayurvedic Yoga practitioner, Madura Siva. Designed with seniors in mind, this two-hour workshop provided a holistic journey of gentle movement, self-care techniques, and mindful meditation. It was an experience that left all attendees feeling nurtured and revitalized.
Madura began the session by focusing on joint mobility and gentle stretches. Understanding the unique needs of older adults, she curated a series of movements that could be performed right from the comfort of a chair.
Participants explored gentle poses that promoted:
Flexibility: Simple stretches to release tension in the neck, shoulders, and back.
Mobility: Movements targeting hands, wrists, ankles, and knees to encourage better circulation and reduce stiffness.
Relaxation: Breathing techniques interwoven with stretches to calm the mind and body.
The emphasis on accessibility ensured that everyone could participate, regardless of their mobility or physical limitations. Madura’s approach fostered an inclusive environment where each person could listen to their body and move at their own pace.
The second hour transitioned into a session of self-soothing massage techniques and the application of Ayurvedic principles for cognitive, ocular, and neurological health. Using oils and lotions, participants learned to engage with specific pressure points to:
Enhance mental clarity and reduce stress.
Improve eye health through targeted massage techniques around the temples and forehead.
Support neurological health by stimulating key Ayurvedic points for relaxation and balance.
This part of the session allowed participants to connect with their bodies in a deeply personal and healing way. Madura’s guidance was gentle and precise, ensuring participants felt confident in trying these techniques at home.
The session was bookended by beautiful chants and meditation, creating a sense of peace and grounding. The opening chants set a serene tone, while the closing meditation left everyone with a sense of gratitude and mindfulness. The rhythmic quality of the chants seemed to uplift the spirit, while the meditative silence provided a moment for introspection and calm.
Many participants shared their appreciation for the session, noting how accessible and therapeutic it felt. One attendee commented, “The chair yoga was perfect for my needs. I felt like I could participate fully without straining myself.” Another noted, “Learning the massage techniques was empowering. I feel like I have tools to take care of myself better.”
For seniors, maintaining physical, emotional, and mental health is essential to a fulfilling life. Programs like Healthy Arts for Seniors provide a platform for older adults to engage in meaningful activities that promote well-being and community connection. Madura Siva’s session was a shining example of how accessible and thoughtful practices can have a profound impact.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Madura for her time and expertise, and to all the participants who joined us for this memorable experience. We look forward to continuing to explore the intersection of wellness, art, and community in future sessions.

Hello!
It really pisses me off that John is Sherlock's pressure point but Sherlock is not John's pressure point while his murdering assassin wife is. Are there any fics that address this? Thanks in advance! I love all your fic recs!
Hey Nonny!
Ahhhhh, I TOTALLY get why you are upset about it!! I was too, so much so that I wrote a lot of meta about the Pressure Points myself, and one of the specifically was about why I believe Sherlock wasn't a pressure point, so I hope you'll check those out to feel a bit better, lol.
That said, I don't know of any "Pressure Points" fics, though the concept is interesting and I'd love to know if any were written about them.
Anyone have something to suggest?

Had Enough
Author: Autobot2001 Genre: Fanfiction Fandom: Transformers Rating: T Warning: None Pairing: None Description: Jamie has had enough of the soldiers targeting her and fights this one in a way that won't get her in trouble.
@juneofdoom day 21; pressure points
Jamie sits all be at a table in the cafeteria. She minds her business, writing on her tablet with a Bluetooth keyboard. Jamie thought one of the Autobots would be staying with her and also finds it odd Lily went with them. Jamie was told to stay at the table, which Jamie didn't question until now. Before she can go to the kitchen, a soldier approaches her. "They ditched you, huh? They figured out you're a waste of their time." Other soldiers and Autobots watch what's happening. Disgusted with the soldier's behavior. Before anyone can stop the soldier's verbal attack, they watch Jamie hit pressure points on the soldier's body and the soldier falls to the floor. Jamie runs out of the cafeteria. Everyone watches Crosshairs and Drift run after her. "That bitch is a danger to everyone here!" The soldier yells. "I'll show you danger," Sunstreaker argues. Optimus orders him to stand down. The soldier is taken to the medbay. "As much as I wanted Jamie to fight back, I hate that Fragger targeted her because she was alone," Sideswipe sighs. "Not entirely alone. Autobots and soldiers were watching, but he didn't care," Lily points out. "Leave them alone for now," Lightning tells the three. Sunstreaker takes the tray containing Crosshairs, Drift's, and Jamie's breakfast and brings it to the kitchen.
The mech puts lids over the plates and puts a bite on one of the covers. Letting the three know it's their food so no one will throw it away. He wants to ensure Jamie is ok but knows Lightning is right. He knows dealing with the soldier later won't do any good. Sunstreaker sighs, frustrated, and returns to the table.

Day 2 of no caffeine:
Dictating this post to K8-T3. I am blinded by the withdrawal headaches and my first attempt at typing it out myself looked like a keysmash, I am told.
At rehearsal, Mitaka said a good cure for headaches is "stimulating your pressure points".
Currently in my shop wondering if it would help to clamp my head in a vice. Katie has not tried to talk me out of it, so it's probably fine. Or maybe she just wants to see for herself how much pressure the human skull can withstand. (It's the second one. - K8-T3)

Adaptable Polarity
* * * *
Another #acupressure image from the archives! This one is lymphedema for the leg done over a decade ago in massage school.
I was speaking with a brilliant colleague last night about this one, and it just seemed to make sense.
These depicted points all seem to land on powerful locations of venous return between the tibial or great saphenous veins.
No venous return, no lymphatic drainage.
There’s also another implication here to the importance of dorsi flexion of the foot and movement of the arch to get fluids moving.
