Me when Ashton Greymoore is denied honorable and meaningful self-sacrifice, and now must face the reality that they MUST keep living after it’s All Over
#critical role#critical role spoilers#cr spoilers#ashton greymoore#bells hells#cr ashton#like#Tal and Ash were both so clearly ready#for Ashton to sacrifice themselves. and comparing that to Ashton’s backstory#to Ashton being left behind as a sacrifice. and becoming bitter(er) and lonely and denouncing ever growing close to someone again#to meeting letter. and learning from letters. and so much about telling letters not to self sacrifice.#but then letters does. and Ashton is ready to go to. he’s prepared to go out to save everyone#and he was so prepared for that to be where his story ends#but he doesn’t. and not through failure but through success#and now (though more trials still await) they must face the reality they must keep living after it all#and face the reality that they will not survive alone.#that they have come out the other side. alive but changed. but not in some miraculous way.#they are not healed. they did not go out protecting those they loved. and they are forced to contend#with the fact they will continue to walk this earth. as it is changed. but not miraculously fixed. but not sacrificed#and like. Ashton having to contend with the change. that the Thing is over. but they are not alone#they are alive. and have friends and a love. and a world familiar and new to love and learn#that they have a connection to but not an ancient force they are upholden to#that they and the earth will learn together#I’ll be honest only the first half of these tags was planned when I started typing about ash being forced to contend with having to live#having to live despite it all. that there’s no big change. no miracle. good or bad. but you must keep going. and how beautiful that is#for Ashton’s story and just in general for people who would resonate with him#but then like I remembered they’re gonna scare off the gods and so exandria is totally gonna change but like#consider my initial point and how beautiful it is#and how I managed to shoehorn it in to still make sense#babblestar

fr though you have to write bad poetry. poems are not handed down to you fully formed by god they are things that you have to work on and practice your skill at creating. nobody would expect you to sit down at a pottery wheel and end up with a perfect vase with no practice. it's a skill! art is a learned thing!! you have to make the shitty little pots with dents and marks and your fingerprints all over them in order to get better. and you're allowed to be proud of those first little pots you made too
#yeah maybe they leak or they don't look the prettiest but you literally made them...#people are so critical of their own + other people's amateur poetry in a way that they are not about so many other art forms#when someone starts crochet they are not expected to pop out perfect pieces immediately.#you don't start dance lessons and pull out a perfect pirouette. there's practice to be done and just because it's not physical#doesn't mean it's not a craft that has to be honed. you have to work at it.#and to work at it you have to be kind enough to yourself to let yourself be mediocre or outright bad. you Have to be#it's never a failure because anything you create is Something You Created and therefore a success#but y'know. the philosophy of you have to be prepared to fail. falling is part of getting back up all that#except that bad poetry will never hurt you it will ONLY ever help you improve <3 so keep writing it <3#you don't have to post it either the attention economy is so evil... keep it to yourself. and if sharing poetry is a thing you want to do#you can always wait until you feel confident in your work to do so. or show the people you love your bad poems.#cause people who love you will see your hard work and love it regardless. y'know?#not poetry

This was gonna be a reply to a reply but I thought maybe I should just make my own post. Yes this is about Vi again.
It's no secret that "Vi should've fought for Zaun" and the expectation of her being Vander's prodigy and feeling like the plot dropped the ball on her in that regard and the betrayal at the fact that she's living comfortably in Piltover now are. Frequent sentiments in the fandom. Which I get, but also I feel that this line of expectations is. Diverging from who Vi actually is by the end and what she was realistically capable of.
Vi in season 2 is basically running on fumes and because she has no other options. It is a well known thing in irl activist spaces that to participate in any kind of fight for justice you need to take care of yourself, otherwise you won't have the energy to be any kind of useful to your community. Ekko also says this - "It's not enough to give people what they need to survive, you have to give them what they need to live". Vi has been surviving and not living in any shape or form for years, she's exhausted and broken in places. That's no mental state to fight for Zaun or make any kinda change. I think it's extremely realistic and human and hardly a flaw of writing or the character if by the end the only thing she was able to do was collapse into the safety and peace she was offered for the first time in forever (aka Caitlyn). It's clear that in her last scene she's still recovering mentally - Cait seems to be excited to have any sign of life (singing) from her at all, and the "Are you still in this fight?" question is very loaded. (But it's indicated that Vi is very much still in the fight, so? It's really anyone's guess what she'll do once she's healed and remembers how to live. And don't bring up LoL's Vi brutality thing, it's clear they're different characters).
I think in wanting to see Vi stand up for Zaun or be Vander's prodigy we often deny her the flaw of being a breakable human and forget just how much she's held together by duct tape. Just because she was full of this 'fuck Piltover' fire as a kid doesn't mean she is still capable of matching that energy. Sometimes after lots of trauma humans grow up into tired adults who just want to sit down and feel safe regardless of where it happens and how questionable it might look (re: living in Piltover). Not to mention, that even as a child Vi's main reason for fuming at the Topside was wanting safety for her family and herself. Well, now she's all out of family, she's estranged from the community of Zaun thanks to being in prison for 7 years and Silco changing the place so much, and the only person who's offering her safety and not more fighting (which she's exhausted and thoroughly burnt out from!) is Caitlyn, so. How is where she ended up any kind of surprising or a failure of her writing/character?
Yes, a lot of people wanted a revolutionary, no, Vi isn't one. Dare I say, never really was one. At her lowest, when she's got no one left to protect, she's not trying to fill in that void by taking on protecting Zaun and becoming a vigilante or something, no, she spirals. That is not something on her radar, that's not something she's visibly cut out to do, she cares so so much but on a smaller scale. Even the whole shimmer factory debacle was less about Zaun and more about her desire to hurt Silco personally for what he'd done to her family. If Jinx agreed to run away with her back at the tea party Vi would ditch the entirety of Zaun (potentially leaving it to Silco forever since he's still alive at that point) in a heartbeat to keep her sister and save Cait in one move. She puts on an enforcer uniform BECAUSE she cares for Jinx (through convincing herself that at the very least she should take her out of her misery herself rather than leaving it to people who don't care, yes) and Cait both.
Perhaps a hot take, but not becoming a leader despite being good at taking hits to the head and caring about people in general and being a daughter of one does not make Vi a badly written character or a bad person. It just makes her a person. And a character whose arc culminated in choosing herself. And choosing yourself sometimes means leaving the fight to others (perhaps temporarily, considering the final dialogue). And that's okay.
Arcane is tragedy about flawed people, not a feel-good story about a successful revolution and rich people paying for their crap, and it was never going to be. Ergo one of our main character isn't an upcoming hero in shining armor who was allegedly robbed of her potential. She's just a broken young woman who barely knows how to keep her own little life together and her biggest victory by the end is allowing herself to take a breath and live for once. Yes, while her home down there is still in shambles. Yes, that sounds selfish. For some people a bit of selfishness is the greatest thing they can ever learn for themselves.
#arcane#arcane s2#vi#vi arcane#long post#I maybe very lazy at fandom participation these days but one thing you can expect of me#is getting miffed by someone's point about a character and making a mini-essay about her#not all stories are about successful changes and world injustices fixed!#sometimes they are about people falling apart at the seams and also folly of a man#while being set in unjust settings#I get it. The world we live right now - we want to see shit getting fixed and our blorbos being heroes#but this one is a tragedy. the injustice is a setting. not the villain.#also! just to point out! neither Jinx or Ekko should carry that burden either#but Jinx also chose to leave and find herself and wasn't ever really prepared to be a symbol in the first place#so both sisters are alike in that one#and Ekko? Ekko stepped into the role willingly and gradually - or so it seems at least#and more importantly he knows what he's fucking doing#if Vi lead the Zaun liberation she would not know how to do it I'm sorry to say.#it would be the shimmer factory debacle all over again.#and it would be mostly due to her what - CORRECT#due to her being extremely not in the mental state for taking on such responsibility!#'why couldn't Vi have stepped up and led Zaun' she would've ran herself into a grave. period.#whether anything would be achieved by that is a topic for a debate I guess.

do you ever think about how Ohkubo extremely casually dropped the fact that Spirit & Kami were teen parents & then proceeded to never expound upon that fact or bring it up ever again despite it explaining a whole lot about them & Maka
#I think a big part of why I'm so attached to/interested in spirit as a character is because he objectively has A LOT going on in his life.#but because he was created to fill that stock pervy comedic-relief anime side-character archetype we never get to see any of it examined.#or even brought up at all for the most part#like spirit apparently comes from a long line of death weapons who despite having been loyal to lord death for generations are never ever#mentioned & who spirit himself never mentions despite carrying on the family tradition (although he's not unique in that regard tbh)#at 12-13 years old he becomes stein's weapon partner & in his own words it became “[spirit's] job to control [stein].”#another kid with a laundry list of mental health & behavioral issues that spirit probably wasn't super prepared to help “control”#(personally I think that this “job” of spirit's was a duty he took upon himself rather than something lord death necessarily told him to do)#then just ~5 years later he 1) loses/rejects said weapon partner & probably best friend after some really major boundaries were crossed#2) becomes a husband & father at just 18#(& in his own words a broke 18 year old at that. another point towards him not being in contact with any family if they're even alive)#3) becomes technically one of the most important people in the world once he ascends to being a death weapon.#not necessarily in that exact order but certainly in quick succession.#& then we fast forward to canon & spirit's at best a guy who drinks way more than he probably should & at worst a functioning alcoholic#who's only A MONTH into being divorced for his habitual infidelity & is in the really weird position of being the primary caretaker of his#daughter who (rightfully) hates him despite him having zero custodial rights over her.#& imo he seems to have no friends in death city before stein & the other death scythes return despite generally being a people person.#like. spirit is kind of the epitome of should've been at the club lmao#soul eater#spirit albarn#kami albarn#meta (kind of. not really lol)

Hi Mindy!!! I hope you’re doing well, and I just wanted to say that I love your posts. Really well written and thought out!
I just wanted to ask.. can you create a guide for preparing to a completely new school which isn’t, like basic? Not in a mean way, but lots of the advice on the internet is generic.
For any extra info, I’ll be joining in the second semester, so there’s plenty of time to make long term changes. It’s also a private school, but I don’t know if that will make a difference.
Thank you in advance 💖 love you!
hi sweetness! @prettieinpink thank you for your adorable ask 🌸 i'm so happy to see this from you!!!!! i'd love to help you from personal experience, and things i documented being in private school. please make sure you look at the 10 secrets because they're super helpful and things i've personally used. i'm going to pour my heart into this comprehensive guide for you. transitioning to a new private school mid-year can feel overwhelming, but i've got you covered with everything you need to know! love youu <333

10 secret tips that transformed my private school journey ♡
the bathroom rule always scout out the least-used bathrooms in your first week, but don't just look for any quiet bathroom - look for one that's strategically located between your most stressful classes. trust me on this - i found my favorite quiet bathroom on the third floor of the science building, and it became my secret sanctuary for quick meditation breaks, makeup touch-ups, or just moments of peace between classes. the lighting there was immaculate for those confidence-boosting mirror talks, and it was far enough from the main hallways that you could actually hear yourself think. i even started keeping a small essential oil roller in my bag to make these mini-breaks feel more spa-like. this space became my personal reset button during hectic days, especially during exam seasons or when social dynamics felt overwhelming.
teacher connection hack bring a small notebook specifically for writing down personal details teachers mention (their favorite books, coffee preferences, hobbies, their children's names, or even their pets). this isn't about being a teacher's pet - it's about building genuine human connections. i started bringing my teacher's favorite starbucks drink on presentation days, remembering to ask about their weekend plans they mentioned, or sharing articles related to their interests. not only did it make their day, but it also showed i paid attention to details. these small gestures created authentic relationships that made a huge difference during finals week, college recommendation season, and even when i needed extensions during tough times. remember, teachers are people first, and when they see you acknowledging their humanity, they're more likely to understand yours.
social currency secret keep a small emergency kit with hair ties, bobby pins, bandaids, mints, tampons/pads, tide-to-go pens, pain relievers (if allowed), small sewing kit, clear nail polish for tights runs, double-sided tape, and even a phone charger in your locker. nothing creates instant friendships like being the person everyone knows they can count on for emergency supplies. i actually met my best friend because i had a spare hair tie when she desperately needed one before her presentation, and that simple moment turned into a three-hour conversation after school. this kit isn't just about having supplies - it's about being the person who thinks ahead and cares enough to help others. i started keeping track of what people borrowed most often and would stock up accordingly. it's like having your own little convenience store of kindness.
the popularity paradox here's something no one tells you - in private schools, being overly eager to be popular actually makes you less popular. the social hierarchy in private schools is often more subtle and complex than in public schools. i learned to focus on being genuinely interested in others instead of trying to fit in, asking thoughtful questions about their interests, and remembering small details about their lives. surprisingly, the moment i stopped trying to be part of the "it" crowd was when people started naturally gravitating towards me. i focused on developing my own interests and passions, which made me more interesting to others. the key is to be confidently authentic rather than strategically social. this approach not only helped me build real friendships but also protected me from the exhausting game of trying to maintain a carefully crafted social image.
the uniform advantage even with strict uniform rules, there are always creative ways to stand out while staying within the guidelines. i invested in high-quality accessories that complied with dress code but made my uniform look more polished - pearl earrings, delicate necklaces, classic watches, and subtle hair accessories. these small details helped me feel more put together and confident. but it's not just about the accessories - it's about how you wear the uniform itself. i learned that having my shirts professionally pressed, skirts properly hemmed, and shoes well-maintained made a huge difference in how put-together i looked. i also kept a small steamer in my locker for emergency touch-ups. this attention to detail showed respect for the school's traditions while allowing my personal style to shine through in acceptable ways.
the lunch table strategy don't commit to one lunch table for at least two weeks, and be strategic about your rotation schedule. i created a subtle system where i would sit with different groups each day, making mental notes about the dynamics, interests, and personalities at each table. i rotated between different groups, which helped me understand the social dynamics better and prevented me from being boxed into one clique too early. pay attention to how each group interacts - some tables are for studying, others for gossip, and some for genuine conversations. i kept a small note in my phone about each group's interests so i could contribute meaningfully to conversations. this strategy gave me the freedom to form genuine connections across different social circles and ultimately helped me choose where i truly felt comfortable. by the third week, i had a clear understanding of where i naturally fit in, rather than where i thought i should be.
the academic alliance create study guides and share them with classmates before they ask, but make it systematic and sustainable. i started a google drive folder with my notes and study guides, organized by subject and topic, with clear summaries and practice questions. it naturally evolved into a collaborative study group where everyone contributed their strengths. i became known as someone who not only shared resources but also helped others understand how to create their own study materials. this approach created a reciprocal learning environment where everyone felt comfortable asking for and offering help. i even created templates for different types of assignments that we could all use, which saved everyone time and helped maintain consistent quality in our work.
the extracurricular edge join at least one unexpected club that's not typically "popular," but don't just join - become actively involved in ways that showcase your unique talents. i joined the astronomy club despite it being small, and instead of just attending meetings, i started organizing stargazing events and creating instagram-worthy posts about our activities. this not only helped grow the club but also showed others that you can make any activity exciting if you're passionate about it. the unexpected benefit was meeting people who shared my genuine interests rather than just social aspirations. these authentic connections often lead to the most meaningful friendships and impressive college application stories.
the social media strategy create a finsta (private instagram) specifically for close school friends, but treat it as a carefully curated space rather than just another social media account. wait at least a month before adding anyone - this gives you time to understand the social dynamics and ensure you're connecting with the right people. i used my finsta to share study tips, funny school moments, and support for others' achievements. it became a safe space for sharing real moments with trusted friends, away from the pressure of maintaining a perfect image on main accounts. i also used it to organize study groups and share helpful resources, making it both social and practical.
the legacy link learn about your school's history and traditions from older students, but go beyond just knowing the basics. i spent time talking to seniors, alumni, and even teachers about the school's evolution over the years. understanding why certain traditions started, knowing the stories behind school legends, and learning about notable alumni helped me feel more connected to the school community. i created a digital notebook of these stories, which became a valuable resource for other new students. this knowledge made me feel like part of something bigger than just my current school year and helped me appreciate the school's culture on a deeper level.
personal advice from my heart to yours:
sweetness, i want you to know that the first few months at a new private school can feel like you're learning a new language - everyone seems to know the words and customs except you. i remember feeling so out of place during my first semester, constantly second-guessing myself and wondering if i was "doing it right." that feeling of being an outsider would hit me hardest during school traditions or inside jokes that everyone else seemed to understand instinctively. i spent countless nights journaling about feeling like i was watching my school life through a window, wondering when i would finally feel like i belonged. but here's what i learned: that feeling of being an outsider is actually your superpower. you have fresh eyes to see things differently, and that perspective is valuable. you notice things that others have become blind to, and you bring new energy to old traditions. your unique viewpoint can actually help breathe new life into established social circles and activities.
the most important thing i wish someone had told me is that it's okay to take your time finding your place. private schools often have students who've been together since kindergarten, and it can feel impossible to break into those established circles. but here's the truth - while everyone else is trying to maintain their image and social position, you have the freedom to be authentically yourself from day one. you don't have to carry the weight of years of expectations or predetermined roles. focus on building genuine connections rather than strategic ones. keep your grades up, but don't let academic pressure steal your joy. document your journey - take photos, keep a journal, save little mementos. these will become precious reminders of your growth. remember that every single person who seems perfectly adjusted now once stood exactly where you are, feeling exactly what you're feeling. and most importantly, remember that the version of you that walks into that school on day one isn't the same version that will emerge at the end of the year - and that's exactly how it should be. you're not just adapting to a new school; you're growing into a newer, stronger version of yourself. embrace this transformation with open arms.
sending you the warmest hugs and all my support! feel free to message me anytime for more specific advice or just to chat about your journey 🤍
mindy x

#Jeong Nyeon: The Star is Born press conference#10th Oct 2024#Jung Eun Chae#all my thanks to PD-nim and the creative team behind JN#PD-nim has the vision for JEC as Moon Ok Gyeong and I will be forever grateful#like I am to the PD-nim and creative team behind ‘Sohn: The Guest’#for giving such amazing roles to JEC#and thankful to Jung Eun Chae for accepting and excelling in those roles#you all have my love as a fangirl#you made my fangirl dreams come true#THANK YOU ✨🤍🖤🫶🏽👏🏽#seated for JN#though have to be prepared to not have her onscreen most times#since Moon Ok Gyeong is at most a secondary character#I wonder which queer romance will be incorporated in the drama#at least please give us the obvious one of Ok Gyeong/Hye Rang#🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽#I do wonder whether PD-nim/writer-nim had ever watched TG and whether that show gave them any hints 🤔#because I watched TG and through my fixation am convinced JEC would be awesome for a more androgynous character#because JEC is one of the few K-actress who could carry stunningly gorgeous AND handsome effortlessly#but I hope there is little pushback on JN and its stories though#due to how much misogyny there is (overt or internalized)#especially not for wlw stories onscreen (mainstream) though I know it has already been done in some other dramas too#but JN is also women-centric and men are background characters at best#praying for success for JN and its casts and crew#I hope there will be better projects ahead for all involved#and especially wondering what 2025 will have in store for me as a JEC fangirl#but have heard little so far so am a bit concerned unless it is just because she wants to slow down???#JEC could really carry that suit 🖤🤍🤩🥰🥵#she looked so much better than some of the men I saw sporting similar fashion

One thing I find interesting about the rashomon job is that everyone starts off their story by establishing that they had the perfect plan. Clearly they had all put a lot of time and thought into it and they all had a lot of time in advance to plan their heist, except for Eliot. He had to pull his whole plan out of thin air in under 24 hours and it almost worked too! His plan was just as, if not more successful than everyone else's (except for maybe Parker's since she's the only one who actually got her hands on the dagger.) Idk I just think it's a great testament to his quick thinking and ability to improvise.
#leverage#Eliot Spencer#parker#alec hardison#Sophie Devereaux#Nate ford#the rashomon job#my sister and I were talking about how his acting skills are severely underappreciated and it got me thinking about this#like he had no time to prepare for this roll and yet here he is#pulling of a successful grift fooling Sophie a professional grifter#and everyone else around him#i mean sure he didn't really talk to anybody for very long but i still think it's pretty impressive for such a last minute thing

I am feeling great hearing that Keyleth's intel is reporting that Rexxentrum sounds like it's about to devolve into chaos with Dwendal evidently on death's door and the Assembly is about to eat itself from the inside following the Vanguard's movement, considering I was presuming that was going to be some significant fallout, but also, rip Caleb and his virtuous idealism for the Empire lmao.
#it's very much not his fault. succession crisis plus the main consultant institution to the monarch is gonna do that anywhere.#SO funny though. hope you are prepared to recontextualize what you thought the rest of your fucking life was gonna be babey lmao#critical role#cr spoilers#but fr. what's oliver schreiber up to. he's gotta be having a fucking conniption.#I did start a thing with him and dairon having a smoke on a rooftop I should finish that lmao#it was gonna be a much larger thing lmao but like. with what time.#but also would be very funny if this was a theoden situation with dwendal. like are you good dude you aren't *that* old#weren't you looking into necromancy like ten years ago. blink twice is ludinus is slowly poisoning your wine.

im so tired but my brain is still thinking of this one headcanon latelyyyy
what if jevin is like a librarian as one of his hobbies, especially assigned to lend safe tomes and archives and keep watch of the forbidden ones... this crossed my mind bc he reminded me of blueberry pie cookie from cookie run. jevin would look similar to her if he was a cookie like...
c'mon like look at them, do you see my vision- i seem to REALLY like blue lads who rarely smiles and do magic oopsieee
....OH I HAVE AN IDEAAAAAA!!!! but i gotta yap on the tags though (so used to doing that, its like whispering to me and i like to whisper my thoughts lol)
#miscellaneous leer#after his cult practices jevin got hired to watch over the tomes and lends tomes ppl seeking materials to practice/educate#he is also tasked to make sure he only gives out the good tomes to customers as the cursed ones are hidden further back#one day he got a lil curious and went to check into the cursed tomes when his supervisor wasn't looking#he looked into some tomes to read what forbidden content was in the tomes (most of them are magic he already knew)#he shrugged and continued reading into more archives until he decided to open the one thats sealed HEAVILY#he prepares himself and brace for the worst... OOPS A SPECTRE APPEARS FROM THAT TOME#that spectre looks kinda familiar... a void figure sealed from the one book out of sight at the dark basement. someone jevin once knew??#anyway period of panic. he tries to reseal it. success but as a side effect he gains wolpertinger traits and passes out#okay that last bit may need to be altered to suit my liking but IM IN LOVE WITH THIS HC WAGHAAGAGAHAAAAAAHSJGDSJSJ#edit: yea it definitely needs to be altered i lost my train of thought while typing. still keeping the idea tho bc YESSSSBSDJDNDND
