Can you recommend like a fun, silly, summery drama? I'm looking for similar vibes as Cheer Up or Age of Youth (female friendships are a plus). It's hard to find something without melodrama.

First off, I LOVE your user icon! (- ‿◦ )

And I definitely want to help you find something silly and easy to watch, especially as we enter the depths of winter! Some of these are a little less slice of life but still fun. Also I know you already watched/mentioned a couple of these but I'm adding them to the list for everyone else who might be game!

Light Hearted Fun K-dramas (little or no melo)

Soundtrack #1 (slice of life/romance) Best friends for almost 20 years, the two leads start having feelings for one another while working on a project. This drama only has a few episodes which is a shame because it's really cute! As a Park Hyung Sik Stan (sorry but Happiness broke me), he's great in this one and he hasn't lost all of his military weight yet which I LOVE :D

Fanletter Please! (slice of life/ romance) A sick child writes fan letters to her favorite star, an actress who for kdrama reasons is afraid of fan letters. This was a super sweet, short drama - I really liked it so much!

Into The Ring (workplace/romcom): The perfect slice-of-life rom com! Goo Se Ra has trouble holding down a job due to her passionate personality so after she loses her latest job working for the ML, she decides to run for a small government office position because it pays a salary. Literally she does it for the money which is just *chef’s kiss.* The show is about her dealing with local politics and it’s SO FUNNY and smart and the OTP is the best! 

King The Land (rom/com): A cold chaebol hotel owner meets his match (literally and figuratively) who is a top notch employee. There's a lot of push pull and the ML (MY BIAS!) Lee Junho's character falls hard and fast. It does have slow moments but if you literally want to watch a happy couple be happy (plus the skinship is chef's kiss and there is so much of it) you'll enjoy this one.

Melo Is My Nature (slice of life): This drama is by far my favorite slice-of-life drama of 2019. Found family, strong and complex characters, I laughed, I cried. Plus a gay character that’s an actual character, with the gay as a casual side note (classy k-drama!!) It was just a perfect show for me. There’s romance, but all of the stories are super interesting.

Top Management (slice of life) I know this show is mainly on Youtube Premium BUT I just got an email from Youtube basically saying “hey we know you never want to pay to watch our shows so we’re just going to let you ok?” so that’s something… Adorable mini drama about a girl who can see the future and becomes the rookie manager for a kpop band. Fun and easy.

Business Proposal (rom/com) Seriously this drama is almost the exact same plot as The Secret Life of My Secretary. It's really fun and cute (just like the latter) and if you like one, you'll like the other ;-)

True To Love / Bo Rah Deborah (rom/com) Bo Rah is a relationship expert publishing her book. She works with a man who is her total opposite making it a cute enemies to lovers. Yoo in Ah is literally so adorable I love watching her! (If I'm honest I can't remember a TON about this drama but I do remember it being an easy watch).

Her Private Life (romcom): Park Min Young really knows how to pick dramas. I loved this one about a museum curator who is secretly a fangirl obsessed with an idol. It’s fun and fluffy but does have a very mild childhood trauma thing with his mother but I mean, 99% of dramas like this do? If you like this one, Touch Your Heart and Why Secretary Kim are by the same person and have similar vibes.

Touch Your Heart (rom/com) A sweet, silly and very mild rom com about a serious boss and his hallyu star secretary. This show was an obvious response to the chemistry that Lee Dong Wook and Yoo In Na had in Goblin so it was nice to see them together again. Yoo In Na is such a fun person to watch!

Fight for My Way (slice of life/romcom): I love this drama! Always a fave for me, this drama is funny and heartwarming! The leading lady is a strong female which I LOVE, and Park Seo Joon plays her really cute down to earth best friend. It’s a childhood friends to lovers trope with a group of regular people (no rich heirs in this show!) and has a happy ending and a lot of cute flirting, cuddling and kissing. Argh I love these two!

Age of Youth 1 (slice of life): Age of Youth/ Hello My Twenties is one of the best k-dramas that centers around strong female friendships. A group of wildly different girls find themselves rooming together in an apartment. Lots of romance too, but the girl’s lives and friendships are the primary focus.

Shopping King Louie (romcom): Ridiculously fun and lighthearted romp following a spoiled and useless chaebol with amnesia who is being taken care of by a country bumpkin in the city. Very low stakes, super adorable couple, and as many tropes as you can fit in your bag, this one is one of my favorites to recommend.

Eulachacha Waikiki / Laughter In Waikiki (slice of life comedy, romance) I hope you’re ready for a crazy amount of unlikely situations and nutty hijinks because this show is probably one the most silly ones I’ve ever watched. It follows a group of friends who own a hostel so it’s a slice of life drama. At certain points I was like “this is TOO silly” but I’m glad I stuck with it cause it was so hilarious. Plus, the baby is a star!

Wok of Love (rom/com) Despite the fact that the show was shortened by two episodes because of sports, this drama is a funny and quirky show worth watching. Many people dropped it because it was SO crazy for the first couple of episodes (it has a talking horse people!), but it does settle into a really sweet and fun story about a chef, a gangster and a rich girl and her family. If you love food, this show is for YOU!

And finally, if you don't mind a bit of melo, I highly recommend Run On!

Teppanya Launches Super Premium Unlimited Madness Menu at Its Newest Branch in Mall of Asia

Our favorite Teppanyaki restaurant has just opened a bigger and better branch at the SM Mall of Asia and it promises to deliver a spectacular dining experience for all its guests. Teppanya has been an enjoyable indulgence for us ever since we first discovered its unlimited teppanyaki promotion at SM North EDSA a couple of years ago (Read: Teppanya Launches 5th Anniversary Unlimited Madness Promo). We kept going back to Teppanya even during the pandemic years so we were happy to find out that they recently opened a new branch with a new premium VIP menu that will beat even five-star hotels in the city.

The newest branch of Teppanya is located at Seaside By The Bay in SM Mall of Asia, just in front of the MOA concert grounds. This is actually a more accessible location since you can just park your car in front of the restaurant or at the open parking lot right across. It is also their first branch that is not directly inside a mall so you can expect to find a bigger and grander venue when you visit.

Similar to their other branches, the MOA outlet features all teppanyaki tables so each guest can get the full Teppanya experience up close. This location is much more spacious as it comes with 14 teppanyaki tables all custom-made for your dining pleasure. Teppanya MOA can accommodate over 200 diners but they still get long lines especially during weekends and holidays.

They also have several private dining rooms which can accommodate up to 12 guests, each with its own dedicated teppanyaki table and chef. These can be booked with a minimum consumable amount of P20,000.

Teppanya has an a la carte menu serving premium Japanese dishes including sushi, tempura, tonkatsu and more, but what really made them famous is their Unlimited Madness promotion. Starting at P1988+ per person, you can eat all the teppanyaki and Japanese items that you want. This is available daily for lunch from 11:00am to 3:00pm and for dinner from 4:00pm to 12:00mn.

But for today, The Hungry Kat was invited for a special preview of their new Super Premium Unlimited Madness menu which will come with all their usual teppanyaki dishes plus unlimited servings of A5 Wagyu, Alaskan Snow Crabs, Foie Gras aburi sushi, premium Iberico Pork, and more!

We were seated at one of their private dining rooms with a magnificent view of the bay. This is also a connecting private room so you can combine it with the other room for those big parties and gatherings.

Dining at Teppanya always starts with a fiery exhibition from the talented teppanyaki chefs. The interactive dining experience is what makes this unique from other eat-all-you-can buffets.

While the chef was busy setting up the table, we were given a few starters which included this magnificent Otoro Sashimi. The otoro comes from inside the tuna's belly and is the most desirable and most expensive part of the fish. The sashimi is so fatty that it almost melts in your mouth.

The chef then prepared his first dish, the Wagyu Usuyaki Roll which is an upgraded version of the Usuyaki Beef Roll served on the regular menu.

The Wagyu Usuyaki Roll is cooked and assembled right on the grill. This meaty roll comes with mushroom and veggies that is placed inside a savory wagyu beef. It is then topped with garlic chips and doused in their secret sauce. This is a very delicious and filling appetizer.

Next is the Wagyu Aburi and Wagyu Aburi with Ikura or salmon caviar. This bite-sized wagyu sushi comes with tender slices of wagyu lightly torched to bring out more of its umami flavors.

The Hokkaido Giant Scallop is a huge piece of scallop which came all the way from the waters of Hokkaido island in Japan. These plump and juicy scallops are cooked on the teppanyaki grill then served back on their half shells.

Another premium seafood item is the Wild Alaskan Snow Crab. Its sweet and tender crab meat is really good which also makes it quite expensive. That's why it's very seldom to find these exquisite items at an all-you-can eat menu.

Here's a very luxurious sushi trio called the Emperor Aburi Set. It comes with Wagyu with Black Truffle, Foie Gras, and Unagi sushi. The foie gras is topped with gold flakes while the wagyu itself comes with a slice of truffle. You really can't get a more premium sushi lineup than this.

The chef continues to demostrate his acrobatic skills using the egg while preparing our Chahan Mixed Fried Rice. Expect to see these entertaining performances from the teppanyaki chefs throughout your meal which the kids and adults alike will surely love.

The chahan is a mixed fried rice cooked with beef, chicken, and shrimps. You can also opt for the Seafood Chahan which has scallops and shrimp instead.

The highlight of the new super premium Unlimited Madness menu are the wagyu steaks. Let's start with the Australian Darling Downs Wagyu MB5 Picanha which really looks good even before it is cooked. The picanha is a tender and juicy cut of beef taken from the top of the rump.

The teppanyaki chef works his magic and grills the wagyu steak delicately. You can really taste the difference of the texture and flavor with each bite.

Another premium meat served to us was the Iberico Secreto Steak which is often called the wagyu of pork. This very tender and flavorful pork comes from a thin cut of meat hidden behind the shoulder blade of an Iberico pig. It tastes just as heavenly as the wagyu beef!

The Australian Duck Breast Fillet was another standout dish. I do love eating roasted duck but this is another outstanding way of presenting this meat.

We all like to eat sandwiches but the A5 Wagyu Sando is truly a cut above the rest. This beef sandwich comes with A5 grade wagyu and is topped with gold flakes.

They saved the best wagyu for last with the Japan Miyazaki Wagyu A5 Chuck-Eye Steak and the Japan Miyazaki Wagyu A5 Chuck Strip Steak.

We were truly in wagyu heaven with these two high-grade items with a Beef Marbling Score of 8-9 signifying wagyu of the highest quality. We were already quite full but we couldn't resist having more of these luxurious wagyu.

To end our special tasting menu, we had a cold ice cream dessert that was cooked on the teppanyaki grill! The Banana Flambé comes with caramelized banana strips grilled on the teppan table and then topped with vanilla ice cream. This was then flambéed and drizzled with chocolate syrup and tempura bits for the most indulgent teppanyaki dessert ever.

The new Super Premium Unlimited Madness Menu will be available soon for P4988+ per person at Teppanya Mall of Asia and its other branches. We would like to thank the owners of Teppanya especially Mr. and Mrs. Pineda for hosting our small media group. Summary of episodes 4-7 and my thoughts:

•Where we last left off, the Queen had walked in and saw MC either sitting on her throne or nearby. If you didn’t sit on her throne, she makes a comment about Prince Philip and how he wouldn’t have passed up a chance to sit in her seat. Seemingly, she isn’t too pressed either way.

•The Queen is a cryptic Yoda with corgis in this game. She seems to speak a bit in riddles and doesn’t give away what she’s thinking. She tells MC she is thinking a lot about the line of succession and implies her mind may have changed about something. She doesn’t elaborate on what she means or what she’s thinking.

•Rory, the body guard, then comes back after she leaves to escort MC back. There’s a chance here to go with him on an outing for some diamonds.

•MC then goes to meet Harry. Like the other royals, he has to choose what to do for his gala auction item. He is practicing boxing when MC walks in and invites her to join him. There’s a premium choice here to get flirty with him while boxing.

•Whether or not you join him, he asks MC to help him pick his auction item. He is stuck between auctioning boxing classes with him or giving away a seat in his private box for his veteran games. MC will be the one who chooses what to do.

•There’s a chance to speak to him about his fight with Will. MC can either choose his side or the Cambridges’. MC can also ask Harry about the fight she overheard with Will about there being a secret. Harry won’t say what it is but he implies everyone has their secrets-even Kate. He leaves her with that warning.

•MC is then called by Kate because she needs help picking her item. When she arrives, she finds Kate getting cozy with Emerson, the chef LI. She watches them for a bit as they talk about how they haven’t seen each other in a while before her phone going off gives her away. Kate is perfectly composed when she realizes MC is there while Emerson hesitates.

•Kate needs help choosing her item. She is stuck between a fascinator which shows her royal, composed side and the sheer dress she wore to attract Will in college. MC can choose for her.

•When MC is getting ready to leave, there’s a romantic moment with Kate. She tells MC about Princess Margaret and her lover. Back in the day, she caused quite a scandal by brushing some lint away from her lover’s shoulder. As she tells MC the story, she brushes MC’s shoulder romantically and asks if MC has a bit of Margaret’s lover in her before walking away. MC is flustered because she is definitely picking up on some vibes from the royal family. (As a side note: I’m not quite sure if this flirty interaction was meant to be a premium choice that glitched and gave it for free or if it appears if you’ve previously flirted with Kate.)

•MC then has a moment with her best friend, Lucy. Lucy is living vicariously through MC and wants to know all the details behind her life in the palace. She tells MC she’s been bragging online that her friend works with the royals and has even sent MC’s ex a message about it.

•MC has a chance to play Marry, snog, shag, and cast out of the kingdom with Lucy regarding the royals. The choice to marry here is the most important one because it locks in the royal that will become the main LI for the rest of the book.

•The gala then happens. Arriving at the gala, whatever royal MC said she’d want to marry pulls her aside. There’s a moment where MC can flirt with them. The royal will say that they have to tell MC something and will get close to them. However, Crawford will appear and interrupt them. He doesn’t seem pleased to see two of them so intimate. He will tell MC there is a problem and she is needed elsewhere. On the way, he reprimands MC.

•MC arrives to find the Royals in a fight again. I’m not sure if the two royals fighting depends on who you chose as an LI or if it’s locked on Meghan and Kate. In my game, it was the two of them.

•Apparently Meghan made a comment about Kate’s item and it caused an argument between them. Crawford wants MC to fix it as their publicist because someone has already leaked a picture of the Duchesses arguing and it’s going viral.

•MC plays mediator between the Fab 4 again. She can either take Kate’s side or Meghan’s. Either way, Kate will decide she can’t auction off her old item since now it’s tied to a scandal. She storms off stressing about needing a new item at the last minute. Crawford demands MC follow her and help her.

•Kate vents about Meghan and how often they clash together. She says she understands Meghan wants to bring the royals to a new age but that it’s not possible. MC can either side with Kate and criticize Meghan or side with Meghan reminding Kate that it’s hard for an outsider to marry into the family. Kate then is called away for royal duties in the gala leaving MC to come up with the item. Before she leaves, Kate suggests auctioning off some alcohol from the palace kitchens.

•MC walks towards the kitchens and sees the Queen outside. A premium choice appears to ask the Queen for advice. If not taken, she’ll just go to the kitchen.

•Emerson is in the kitchens helping prepare the food for the gala. He asks another staff member to cover for him to help MC with her item. Together they get the idea to create a cocktail for the royals and auction off the recipe and the glass Kate drinks out of. Options will appear about what vibe you want the cocktail to have and MC has to choose different ingredients to each of the couples.

•When MC presents the fab 4 the cocktail, Will makes a snide comment but everyone ultimately likes the idea. The cocktail makes them feel whatever emotion MC chose and each royal has a moment to reminisce about their past. MC will then name the cocktail from a set list (and only one is not a premium choice).

•As the royals disperse, MC is told by Rory that there is a scene happening outside. Someone is trying to crash the gala and is throwing her name around. MC runs after him to see who it is.

•It’s her ex. Apparently Scott has mysteriously gotten an invitation from someone and mocks MC. It is revealed that the two of them had a business in PR together before the breakup. Scott burned MC and poached all their clients. He gloats about being invited to the gala and says that the royals will fire her soon enough when they realize she’s a terrible publicist.

•MC can either ask Rory to kick Scott out (premium choice), say they don’t care if they stay, or say that Scott is not their concern. I’m not too sure what happens if they choose to let Scott stay. It seems Rory will kick Scott out regardless because he is furious he was terrible towards MC.

•Once he is gone, Rory apologizes for causing MC trouble and beats himself up for not handling things without her. MC tells him it’s not his fault, but he insists on making it up to her. A premium choice will appear on taking a moonlit ride with him.

•Otherwise, MC will return to the gala. She hears the gala is a success and feels accomplished that she pulled off her first royal event. Whatever royal is her LI will congratulate her on the event.

•Lucy will also call MC and suggest that she check the balcony for another Princess Diana message. She says the royal family always stands at the balcony for important events and it was probably a place Diana knew well from when she was a working royal. A premium choice will appear to see if MC wants to look for a message. Let me know if you know what the message was. I didn’t take it.

•Back home, MC will gush with Lucy about the gala. She tells Lucy the royal she picked to marry is growing closer to her. Lucy is excited and demands details. While they’re talking, MC will get a DM from said royal inviting them outside.

•The Royal they chose is in a limo with tinted windows. They invite MC in and confess to MC that they have feelings for them. MC can reject them or accept their feelings. A premium choice appears to kiss them. The royal will then invite them to a private date which is another premium choice.

•The next morning, MC tells Lucy what happened. Lucy is excited for her. The royal from last night will DM MC again to tell her that they’re thinking of her. MC can either reply to them through a premium choice or can DM Emerson / Rory with another premium choice.

•At the palace, Crawford asks for a meeting with MC. He tells her the gala was a success. MC can either take the compliment or stay humble. He does not like it if she takes the compliment.

•Crawford then dumps another problem on MC. Apparently an account called the Royal Rat has appeared. Crawford thinks the person is an insider in the palace. He tells MC they posted that they overheard one of the royals speaking about how they’ve grown bored with their spouse. As the publicist, MC has to be the one to fix the issue. Crawford demands they think of something before telling MC that the Queen wants to see her again.

•Before she leaves, Crawford scolds MC again. He’s gotten a sense that MC has started an affair with a royal or a palace staff depending on LI and knows that her ex made a public scene at the gala. He warns MC the palace is no place for romance and to not let relationship entanglements cause a scandal for the royal family.

•On the way to the Queen, MC will bump into her rival who taunts her about her ex making a scene. She tells MC that her relationships are causing a problem and will get her fired, but brags that she is dating a member of the Firm and knows not to get caught. I kinda thing she’s dating Crawford because he treats her with respect unlike MC and their words about dating in the palace are almost identical to each other. MC will fire back that she has a private meeting with the Queen which shuts her up and she storms off.

•Cue another premium outfit choice.

•When MC meets the Queen, the Queen tells her that she has been thinking about love recently. She is surrounded by photos of her late husband and misses him. She also talks about her sister Margaret and how her love story caused a scandal, but how the public has changed its stance on love since. She and Philip had a great reaction to their wedding as did the Fab 4. She leaves MC with that cryptic message about the importance of love.

•A premium choice is also offered to let MC have lunch with the queen. It’ll give her a better opportunity to form a plan of action and take a photo with her for her social media. Not sure what happens there.

•MC messages Lucy and can either freak out because she thinks the Queen is onto her affair or reassure herself that she doesn’t seem to know anything. Either way, she is inspired by what the queen said. She tells Lucy that the way to fix the problem with the Royal Rat is to remind the public about how the Fab 4 fell in love.

•She gets a DM from Crawford demanding a plan for the scandal. Choosing not to respond to him, she instead DMs the royal she’s having an affair with and asks them to meet her privately. They immediately agree.

•At a rendezvous spot, the royal tells MC that they have something important to say and the episodes end there.

My thoughts:

The game took a long time to update. Fusebox usually updates weekly, but this one went on forever. I half expected them to have abandoned the game. I guess since it’s so short they’ll be dropping batches of it monthly. I don’t mind.

The plot moves super fast. As soon as MC decides she likes one royal, the game locks it in and that becomes your LI. If you’re planning on playing, take the Marry / Snog / Shag / Exile game seriously.

I also am pleased Fusebox changed the prices for their items. The romance premium choices are still expensive with interactions costing 13-30 something, but the outfit choices dropped. They’re now a more “Fusebox” price compared to last update.

The characters themselves are still too simple. The game still loves to pit Harry v Will and Kate v Meghan. The arguments are a little amusing with the fact that they throw around previous scandals and have some funny quips at each other, but it’s all rather juvenile. I also still get the sense that the game is anti-Meghan and pro-Kate based on how the two are characterized.

I’m also not sure how the plot will work. The Fab 4 are very much still married, but MC is now having an affair with one of them. The game doesn’t forget their marriage and the royal can even make some comments about their spouse in some of the flirty interactions with them which is awkward.

I find it rather interesting that MC is now responsible for showing the world the royal love stories between the 4 of them while in an affair with one of them. It feels very backstabbing. I should have named my MC Camilla. We’ll see how the game plays out given that every royal is an LI and each has a flirty moment with MC before the game locks one in.

Either way, it’s a rather harmless parody game with low stakes. I wouldn’t say it’s good or anything, but I will say it’s a nice little absurd thing to play. I’ve been rather stressed these past few weeks and the game is a nice way to relax because it’s just so ridiculous I was enthralled for a bit.

In any case, I’m here for it. I’ll play it to the end just to see how the plot goes. In order to enjoy it, you just have to let go of reality and let yourself step in to a completely made up world. After all, I’m not exactly playing a game about the royal family for the realistic aspect of it all. No, I want Kardashian levels of drama.
