studying for the lsat (for free)

i know lsat prep courses are so expensive and i cannot pay for that so i thought i’d share what i’ve been doing

insight lsat on youtube has a playlist with a free prep course, in which they go over each section of the lsat/each type of question you’ll encounter. it’s very helpful and i recommend pausing the video and trying to answer yourself whenever the instructor recommends it!

after going through question types, he provides a list of “homework questions” — the questions add up to essentially being 2 full sections from a few different practice tests, so at the moment i’m doing the questions one recommended practice test at a time (making it 2 full sections each time i practice)

i compile answers to these practice questions in a google doc, where i correct myself and make notes on what went wrong, as well as label what types of questions i missed so i can see any patterns

i use a notion spreadsheet to track how much time per day i study, as well as scores and/or percent accuracy for my actual practice (when doing the homework questions/2 sections instead of a full test, i calculate accuracy since i do not have an actual score)

after working through the lsat insight course and doing all recommended practice, my next step will be to do full timed sections (when i do homework practice it is untimed)

then, i will take a full timed test, so that i have a new diagnostic score and i can plan out the next phase of studying. i will once again track what types of questions i’m missing so i can implement more targeted practice.

- i check answers using manhattan prep (it’s a forum so explanations are detailed and written by real people)

i was studying for the LSAT and idk what i was expecting?! I’ve taken so many standardized tests between the ASK, SAT, and shit i’ve even taken the PRAXIS.

tell me why the LSAT is like a mix of einsteins riddle and general reading comprehension?? such a bizarre test because you really can’t be taught critical thinking at this age. i have to stop doing drugs lol

Still debating what area of law I would like to pursue. As a current nursing student, medical malpractice and healthcare law in general seems interesting. Idk I don’t really have anyone to talk to about this topic. I will definitely be joining the pre-law club at my school this semester.

Side note: is anyone else ready for back to school? My semester starts so late 😭

btw cops are inherently supposed to be manipulative as FUCK

pre-law student here, we're spotlighting interrogation lmao.

the only other occurrence i've ever seen, heard of, and even experienced with cops myself, is just straight up abuse with no prior softer demeanour.

interrogators, and by extension, all cops, are required to be manipulative. they are told to gain the suspect's trust and trained to psychologically gain it through every minor aspect, even subconsciously. they are then told to provoke the suspect after building a genuine relationship. they then become aggressive and nearly all of that aggression is completely planned and was the intention the whole time.

don't ever trust a fucking cop unless it's a life or death situation for you. don’t trust a traffic cop, don't trust a security cop, don't trust a campus cop, don’t even trust a cop in a situation you aren't a suspect or perpetrator. acting nice towards them is best for your own safety, but make sure more than anything that that kindness is NOT genuine. manipulate them.

10:20am-12:00pm - civil procedure. (i sat in on a 1L class today!! they had donuts and hot chocolate, it was soo cutie. the prof said this was everyones least fav class but i honestly loved it)

1:00pm-2:00pm - public speaking

studying hours:

two hours: criminal procedure. ( federal rules of evidence and 12b motions !!! )

one hour: criminal stats ( fuk this class )

two hours: biological anthropology ( to all of u w an anthropology degree ur so much better than me this shit is so confusing )
