I can't get over the beauty of my Bamburanta (𝘊𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘶𝘣𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘢). This is a large, naturally variegated species in the Prayer Plant family. It is native to southeastern Brazil. I love prayer plants. I bought this one and no matter what I did, it hated life. Eventually, i thought it was completely dead so I went to clean it out and reuse the pot. I found one green stem and couldn’t just throw it away. I watered it and set it in the window. Fast forward a few weeks and now it is flowering. A while back, I was fortunate enough to add one of my wishlist plants to the collection. This species has gone by many scientific names, including "𝘊𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘢 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘤𝘢." Currently, the valid designation is 𝘎𝘰𝘦𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘢 𝘬𝘦𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘫𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘪. The leaves on this Brazilian native look more like a patchwork quilt or abstract painting than a living plant! I picked up a couple new additions yesterday in Springfield from @wickmansgardenvillage. The first is 𝘎𝘰𝘦𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘢 𝘰𝘳𝘣𝘪𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘢, a beautiful species with large round leaves native to eastern Brazil. It was previously classified in the genus 𝘊𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘢, and is still commonly listed for sale as such. The other specimen is also frequently referred to as a 𝘊𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘢, despite having been moved to the genus 𝘎𝘰𝘦𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘢.
