Yea no I'm still not normal about these two. Sorry. Anyway! If Esther and Sultan were actually in the game, in the way I envision them, you could meet them in the unused big corner of the ark that Sultan decided to turn into a nice little potion shop.

How does a crab make potions with his tiny legs? Don't worry about it! Basically, you can buy not-so-legal (I mean... can creatures even be held to the standard of law?) potions from these guys, including a potion that can transform you into a creature at any moment at any place, a potion that lets you understand creature language (after all, who doesn't want to hear the latest manta gossip!) and many other brews. There are many to choose from! And all are welcome (as long as you pay.)

Sooooo... how do you think Gale would handle jealousy between spouse-Tav and Tara? After all, not every Tav felt instant love for Tara and vice versa, as can be seen at the Epilogue Party (which I found hilarious personally!)

I’m assuming everyone is aware of what happens during the rooftop meeting if Tav rudely decides to take the missing letters from Tara without asking?

I’m mentioning this not to throw any shade on Tara (I’m on her side—you want to act rude and steal from Tara?! Get burnt) but because Gale’s response is, I think, a perfect summary of how he would respond to any jealousy between the two:

(side note—as a cat owner myself, I can also confirm this is 1000% the most cat tressym owner thing to say, ever 😂)

I think that Gale, upon seeing a hint of jealousy from either one, would be desperate to not take sides and would try his utmost to cheerfully smooth out any tension between them. After all, he cherishes these two! His best friend since he was a child, and the love of his life. Surely he can help them see eye-to-eye?!

There might be more than one discussion over dinner, in which Gale mentions how “Tav was admiring your wings yesterday, Tara,” or “Tara was saying you did an excellent job organizing some of my rather scattered potion bottles, Tav.” Of course all of these discussions, productive or not, will end with: “And for the last time, Tara, no, I will not be shaving this beard, no it’s not because Tav likes it, its because I myself like it—”

But I also think any Tav that truly deserves to be with Gale would be decent and good-hearted enough that they wouldn’t be jealous of Tara—or at least, not for very long. Because it takes very little for Tara to be accepting of Tav! At the epilogue party, if Tav invites Tara for some tea and reassures her that she will still get to be in Gale’s life, Tara warms up immediately. Gale is her “little love,” after all. How could any Tav that loves Gale deny him that? 💜

It’s actually my personal HC that Tav and Tara are not only not jealous of each other, but actually become fast friends and bond over something that I think Gale would be somewhat chagrined about: their shared dislike of Mystra.

Imagine the commentary. The sly digs against the Goddess anytime she’s mentioned in conversation. Tara flatly stating she finds Mystra’s style ‘gaudy’. The snickering. The way that the small Mystra statue in Gale’s study mysteriously ends up broken on the floor. Gale suspiciously asking “What are you two whispering about?” and being assured it’s nothing, merely discussing the weather!

…Gale’s earring then somehow disappearing from his nightstand—where he’d placed it for just an instant!—and ending up in Tara’s litterbox.

“Oh dear, Mister Dekarios!” The delight obvious in Tara’s voice. “However did that happen? Well, we’ll simply have to get you a new one, dear.”

“Yes indeed!” Tav nodding vigorously. Smiling widely. “Clearly this was an accident, of course, so you can’t be mad at Tara, Gale. Shall we go shopping for one now?”

And Gale, his gaze bouncing suspiciously between the two of them, both looking absolutely delighted with each other, thinking that perhaps it would have been better if they’d remained enemies.

Tav has an enormous extended family - while she is an only child, her parents both had multiple siblings, and she has many many cousins. The closest to her is Morion, who is the same age as her and who's parents also lived in Baulder's Gate. The two frequently interacted as children, although they did drive each other nuts at times (they are both only children - they get along well now.) Their parents liked to compare horror stories of headbutting ankles, biting, and setting things on fire - typical tiefling baby stuff.

For all this, Morion is a very gentle soul, fairly quiet and reserved. He's done adventuring in his time, although he returns to Baulder's Gate between adventures to run his mother's shop when he's in town (she also adventured in her time, although she's up there in years now, and simply runs a potion and scroll shop to amuse herself.)

Most of their extended family is tieflings*, though there are some humans in there too, and the occasional oddities by marriage**. Morion's mother, Marian, is Tav's aunt on her mother's side. They are both Clerics of Lythander (They are both Level 12, mechanically.) His father was a half-orc Marian adventured with once upon a time, although sadly did not live long past Morion's childhood (due to the nature of half-orc genetics.) Morion has had multiple 'fathers' since, as his mother has remarried three more times (outliving all her spouses), although currently she is a widow with a long-term girlfriend in the city.

Morion lives in the little loft above the shop when he's in town, while his mom lives in her own home in the lower city.

Morion and Marian (even given her age) were both on the front lines at the end of BG3 - fighting off thralls and helping survivors. They both worked hard to help reconstruct their city after the netherbrain's destruction.

Interestingly, he's an Asmodeus tiefling, where most of his blood-related family are Zariel tieflings. The thought is that it must come from his dad's side, and he would have been a tiefling no matter who his mother was.

*A little unusual - a lot of tieflings end up orphaned because they come from human parents not expecting a 'demonic' looking child. But Tav's family is what happens when multiple of those people find each other, and turn into a cohesive family unit over the generations. There are parts of the family all up and down the Sword Coast.

**There's also a few oddities like her cousin who, for all intents and purposes, looks fully human (and mechanically is) but is bright maroon (is it a birthmark or what?) - she became a warlock out of spite, and she's a lot of fun.

Do you ever think Sprivy does the Homer Simpson level of mistake when trying to help their wife? I mean, the whole trying to support her business by talking to mobsters which leads to a fight between mafia and yakuza. There is love for seeing a spouse try, though, even if there is a gang war outside their house.

I could see Sprig and Ivy try and deal with any competition Maddie’s potion shop might have but she’d def stop them before things get out of hand.

The Monarchy of Eternyx.

The monarchy of Eternyx started centuries ago, with the first queen, Regina Hearts, she became queen after uniting all the tribes of monsters under her banner, the capital of her kingdom was Notte, which still is the capital of Eternyx to this day. Regina was known for her philanthropy and being a patron of the arts, which gained her the title of “Mother Monster”, a title that it's given to the queens of Eternyx still to this day. Regina had 3 daughters, Stefani, Joanne and Angelina, and after the death of her mother, Stefani became the queen of Eternyx. Before her death, Regina stated a rule of succession, only women could ascend to the throne, and for over 1200 years, this rule remained mostly unbroken, having a total of 55 queens and 8 kings on the throne.

Royal Houses At first, the only royal house that existed was the Hearts house, but as the time went on, many more royal houses were formed. Some of them were formed because a descendant of Regina became the liege of a certain region, and founded their own dynasty based on that region, or they received a nickname, which would evolve to the name of their own dynasty, or maybe they just changed to their spouse’s last name, here will be listed some of these houses (remembering that all of them can trace their origins back to Regina Hearts)

Main House of Hearts (defunct): The first to be created, for centuries, the Hearts’ dominated Eternyx, but everything changed after the last member of the house, Elizabeth Hearts, died with no children, which led to its extinction, and a minor succession crisis. Shard: The first member of the house was Eleanor Shard (nee Hearts), she was famous for her performances involving glass shards, which led to some people calling her “Miss Shard”, she really liked the nickname, which years later she adopted as her last name and founded her house after it, centuries later, after the death of Elizabeth Hearts, the house of Shard was chosen to be the next leaders of Eternyx, the current queen, Icona, is from this house.

Minor Butterfly: Was named after the dukedom of Butterfly, the current head of the house is Joan Butterfly, who besides being a duchess, is also a performer, Lady Odelia was also once part of this house. Obscure: Named after the light and shadow powers that the members of this house have, the heir to this house is Claire Obscure. Aro’ha’s unknown house: Aro’ha is not interested in Eternyx at the moment, she had fallen in Wackygroove a long time ago and is currently the queen of there, she has no plans on going back. Indra’s family: No additional information is known about.

Extremely minor These houses still have some claimants to the throne, but they are so far away from it, that they aren’t really considerate. Blackthorn: The house of Felicia, Scarlet, and Scotty (adopted) Blackthorn, Felicia is the owner of a Potion shop in Notte, and is the current head of the house. Adameve’s house: No additional information is known about this house. Wayne and Bissett: Branches of the Butterfly house, the members these houses can trace their origins to lady Odelia Butterfly, who moved to Wasterra for a political marriage with liege Adalberto Rosal, they had a child together, but after a rebellion, Odelia and Rosal were killed, and the child was raised by the Bissett family, who had no idea of the child heritage, decades later, the descendants of the child allied with Jae in the current Wasterra civil war, two girls were born during it, Janet and Jane Bisset, the last joined the resistance against Jae, and changed her last name to Wayne, after one of the leaders of the resistance, John Wayne. Rider: The members of this family specialize in shadow manipulation. Dials: No additional information is known. Chase: The Chase’s were a really obscure family, no one knew about their existence until Eva Chase emerged, a famous pop-star and actress (also a burglar, but no one knows that yet), she tried to claim her heritage as a Regina Hearts heir, but her branch in the family tree was so distant, that no one cared about it, and she was ignored, a thing which she didn’t take so kindly…

While out retrieving a basket of poison joke in the surrounding bog, Zecora left Raspberry in charge of the shop. Obviously, the sly filly had other plans. She decided to follow a simple flower-blooming spell she’d watched the older zebra use some time ago, and before she knew, it a sparkly new cutie mark appeared on her flank along with a tiny golden and purple flower shyly sprouting from the pot.

After Zecora retired with her wife, Spitfire, a now-matured Raspberry Sparkle chose to set up camp in her hut. Though decently introverted, her friends and family often visit and bring with them supplies for her to use in her next concoction.

*After Captain Shining Armor passed away in battle, the position was handed over to Tempest, his second in command. During the Second-Coming Changeling War, she was slain by none other than Queen Chrysalis herself who, in this universe, was not a part of “Grogar’s” villainous plan. She’d disguised herself as Tempest’s wife, Twilight, pleading for her to return home and see their newborn filly for the first time. Minovae's eyes widen before she chuckles. A hint of sadness laces the sound.

"It's not impossible for a Hellknight to start a family, even as much as it's not... actively encouraged. I mean, the Lictor of the Nail has three daughters who are all Hellknights themselves. There's entire lineages across the Orders, even. But as for me starting a family? That would imply, well, a spouse... or someone that'd be interested in doing such a thing with me at all", she sighs in the delivery of the latter part of the statement. "I'm not sure such a person exists. At least, one I'd want to be with myself."

She seems to have a particular person in her mind, but says nothing further on them.

"I love kids. Always have. I used to..." There's a sadness in her eyes as she remembers a distant past. Her nostrils flare for a moment as she takes a deep, sharp breath before relaxing again. "I had Foundlings. Once. It was... Among the happiest times of my life." She smiles. A slight quivering takes to her lip. "That was a long time ago. My greatest joy. My... greatest failure..."

"The only type of makeup I've ever had much luck with is around the eyes: liner, shadow, you know. I don't get much opportunity for it. They put up a framed picture of Fig with the parents and Lory, standing over the fireplace. Mary says that Professor Fig and his wife Miriam are finally together again and that they should be happy for him. Even without being a witch Mary is always positive and open minded for nearly everything. Richard had a hard time accepting that his daughter became a witch. Yesterday on YSMP--

The ghost returns.

After a successful day of dungeon diving, fighting mobs and shopping, Vel warps back from the Clocktower to Emberlan proper-- to find himself faced with Astrophel and Taz. The ghost. The one ghost with the murder skulls and the hit list of all entities. Tensions are understandably high.

The three of them stand and discuss and finally Astrophel strikes a deal: his soul, his death for protection of his family. He gives Taz a list of people - all of Gallus Nesting, River's kids Diggory and Freedom - and Taz disappears. Motivations unclear.

Astrophel and Vel guess he had a hit list now, with everyone Astrophel cares about. They rush back to Gallus Nesting and camp out by River's kids, horrified. Astrophel blames himself for putting a target on their backs (with some merit I believe), and says he will just stay. Holds watch, never sleep. Invent a potion to keep him awake. Become a tasty tasty snack for phantoms as I'm hearing.

Vel patrols through Gallus Nesting and finds Taz again. The man seems confused. He says he's here to kill someone, gets corrected, calls Astrophel's list a shopping list, and hands it back to Vel for free when he offers to do the shopping for him. Taz wanders off after Vel skillfully lies his way to a peaceful resolution.

This isn't the last we see of him though. With his next return, he searches Gallus Nesting, spots the duo and the kids through the window, calls them Hunters and swears vengeance to them. When Vel heads outside to confront him, he's suddenly just searching for a specific kingdom, a kingdom of hunters, but Vel doesn't look like a hunter! :D Excuse the inconvenience! Except you are a hunter, and you will suffer for taking my wings--

Vel battles him for a while, and discovers first-hand that ghosts can't die. Not in any way that matters.

Between Vel going to fetch a new sword, the guy vanishes again. Astrophel and Vel, now joined by all of River's children, barricade themselves inside Rivers home.

Which, he breaks through! Somehow! Everyone in the house is confused, most of all Taz! He is asking to be let out, even! That is a degree of short-term memory loss that is... impressive. And concerning.

What was that talk with Misty though? The two seemed familiar; Taz asked about where everyone is, that someone must have survived, and Misty... Seemed flustered. He must've "slept" far longer than he things, and Misty... Has to talk to Exho? Her spouse? What was his job again... Can he help? Can he call Taz back?

Character Ideas Day One: Alchemist Artificer

As a child, you developed a crush on the heir to your kingdom, whom you were close with as a school friend. You stayed in contact for years, but were never quite able to articulate your feelings. Now, you both are adults, and word has broken that a terrible curse has befallen the her. As soon as you hear, you dedicate yourself to potion making in an attempt to cure them, and perhaps win their heart along the way. 

While your spouse was out doing adventures of their own, they adopted an orphaned baby creature so rare you’d never seen one before. They dropped it off with you, hoping to give it a safe home, and set off on yet another quest, leaving you with your new child. In an attempt to make it formula, and to give it the nutrition it needs to survive, you grow an interest in alchemy. After your spouse returns, it’s your turn to leave and explore, in the hopes to find ways to make better nutrition for the child you’ve grown to deeply love. 

You are the only non-magical heir to a long line of sorcerers, but since you were young, you believed you had the magic too. Recently, however, your ability has been on the fritz, so your parent has chosen to reveal that you never had the abilities, they were only provided to you through the potions you’ve taken “for your health” since you were young. Bitter and saddened by the lies, you’ve set out to not only replicate the potions that made you strong, but to learn to make ones that can make you stronger than your family has ever been.

You picked up a part time job at the local alchemy shop, primarily just to earn some extra money in a tough time. The work was easy, and your boss was great, until one day you discover your boss badly injured on the floor, transformed into an Order of the Mutant Blood Hunter and no longer fit to run the shop. For a while, you keep him around in hopes to look after him, and get help running the business, but late in the night, he vanished, and now you’re on a quest to find him again. How else are you going to learn how to run a business? 

In your younger years, you served as the bodyguard to a wealthy, yet controversial family. While you were on watch at a dinner party, the head of the family was poisoned, and you were swiftly removed from your position in shame. You hid for years, unable to get a job thanks to your reputation, and all the while became obsessed with the exacts of poisoning, and just how it managed to slip by you all those years ago. You’ve managed to become quite skilled at the art, and now carry with you adept hands and a deep desire to create a new reputation, for better or for worse. 

When you were young, your town was decimated by an attack from several powerful aberrations. You were one of very few to survive, learning how to make elixirs from the remains of the slain aberrations that could do things no one thought possible, and though it may not be ethical, it does make you good money. Now, an alchemist’s guild is after you, looking to not only imprison you, but also steal your hard earned secrets. 

You are the right hand to a funeral director, hired to produce perfumes for the bodies before funerals. You have learned many things about alchemy and the dead, and though you do your job quietly, you are regarded with a high degree of respect. However, a powerful necromancer has taken notice of you, believing your skill set will help improve the morale of their henchman. It’s a compelling offer, but what choice will you make? 

You are part of the medical staff in an illegal fighting ring, routinely making healing and enhancement potions custom for each of the fighters. When the law breaks in, threatening you directly, you drink one of your own enhancement potions for the first time and instantly fall in love with the rush of combat. You’ve left to chase it again, law and the life you made be damned, and plan on using your alchemical abilities every step of the way. 

While you were at a clerical academy, you received terrible news from home that deeply shook your faith, leading to an immediate withdrawal. While you grieved at home, you came to a simple conclusion: Magic from another source cannot be trusted. It has to be by your own mind, and by your own hands, to be anything approaching good. So, you began making and selling elixirs, specifically healing potions, to try and prove to the populous that they can simply do it themselves, and your life has been on the up and up. Until, that is, the god you left behind begins appearing in your dreams, extremely rational and willing to talk in a way that makes you listen. A way that makes you doubt if your path was the right one. 

All you wanted to be was a chef. You trained for years, desperately wanting to cook, but failing miserably at every turn. In fact, you failed so miserably you managed to accidentally create the solution to an alchemical problem that has haunted the alchemical world for decades. You’re now the most famous alchemist in your kingdom. It’s all very weird.

I won’t be able to add pictures of them just because I’m at work (rip) but sure!

I have Gawaine Pike, Moranth Osmanda, and Morgan Clawthorne (né ?). I’m going to put the rest of this under a readmore though so it isn’t super long lmao

Gawaine is a Hexside student in the potions track. He’s based off a dullahan (i.e his head comes off) I pinned him as about the same age as Hunter and the Blight twins (16-17). The best way to describe him is…. Kind of mediocre? He’s that kid who studies moderately and has middling grades, he doesn’t really stand out among his peers academically. Despite this, he has inflated ego and acts like he’s a prodigy much to the chagrin of his friends. Outside of school, he has a part-time job at his mother’s shop.

He had a older sister, but she went “missing” after some scouts caught her and her friends fucking around and finding out (wild magic), so a lot of his attitude is him trying to deflect his grief. She’s not actually dead, she just moved away out of shame, he just doesn’t know that. His mom was/is a client of Eda and Morton, so he went into the potions track to feel like he could help her. His dad is just present. Gawaine has a kind of contentious relationship with the Blights. He think Ed and Emira are mildly obnoxious (mutual), but he just wants to be friends with them. I don’t think he’s really had any meaningful interactions with Luz, but he’s a little envious of her.

Moranth is part of the construction coven. They’re a plant hybrid whose only discernable feature through their petals is an eye. I think I’d put their physical age around 28-32 but it’s hard to tell due to a lack of human features. They’re selectively mute and tend to sign and gesture to get their point across. Moranth is quite good at their job and prides theirself on meticulous craftsmanship! When they were young, they were in the plant track, but changed to construction because they felt conflicted if they were in the plant track because they wanted to or felt obligated to. They have gardening as hobby and still try to dabble with plant magic every once in awhile, but since joining the construction coven they try to keep from mixing magics unfortunately.

Moranth isn’t really interested in people, but they have a few close friends and maintain frequent contact with their moms. I think maybe they’re coworkers with Gilbert, or they at least know each other.

Morgan is my least fleshed out TOH oc lmao. He’s only related to the Clawthornes through marriage to a cousin or something. He’s living in a isolated part of the isles with his spouse (He’s got that cringefail malewife-core vibe). The best way to describe his relationship with Eda and Lilith is “ Hey, how are your cousins in Bonesborough?” “Overthrowing the monarchy or something” “Again?”
