#slay the princess #slay the prince #2024 #you may have noticed this thorn looks different from my first prince post #its bc i got New Ideas while working on Witch #after i decided to give Witch prince facial hair i wanted to incorporate some with Thorn of course #the prickly nature of stubble works perfectly with the thorns #it also goes along with how Thorn is meant to seem like a reversion back to the base princess compared to Witch #i didnt realize how much Jesus Christ imagery there was in the Thorn until I was drawing this #crown of thorns and body wounds and special attention to the hands and feet and themes of betrayal #not to mention sentenced to execution for fear of her potential power #so having thorn prince have facial hair plus long hair style works out with how jesus tends to be depicted in western culture #i posted a WIP of his face and a friend said he thought it was jesus lol so it all worked out

#bolo speaks #been thinking about family dynamics + the disempowerment of children and other topics adjacent to family abolitionism a lot recently #something about having one abusive parent and one non-abusive parent that no one really talks about is that it kind of results in #a situation where the non-abusive parent can be just okay but it's like the second coming of christ because at least they're not abusive.#my mother has all the age- and family-based authority over me that my dad did #(though the male/female power dynamic that enabled his misogynistic abuse isn't there. and that's a huge factor!)#she just chooses not to misuse it. but she could.#all the factors that kept me trapped as a teenager are still there and are only somewhat softened by my legal adulthood.#and the fact of the matter is that I think any system where any person has absolute control over another has the potential to enable abuse #and that’s by design.#in a society where most historical forms of oppression have begun to be seriously deconstructed in some way #the idea that children are inherently lesser and that parents should *own* their children #is not only prevalent it's supported by people who are otherwise anti-authoritarian.

It’s quite strange when people try to extrapolate some kind of ulterior motive behind my blorbo preferences. Simply put, I typically gravitated towards the ones that everyone hates in-universe, or that the fandom hates, or both.

Eridan is more special to me now due to Events I won’t explain, but damn right next to him back then was Princess Luna, Shadow the Hedgehog, Nergal Jr., Scourge, Wheatley, Thomas Barrow, Ben Solo, countless others. I dug into books and become obsessed with the black sheep and tragic figures in House Harkonnen and House Targaryen. Wuthering Heights and The Phantom of the Opera made me eat drywall and roll in the mud. Oh Solas, oh David 8, Dolores Abernathy, and the whole cast of oldfandom creepypasta characters. I was transfixed.

When I was a kid I would spend HOURS out of the week defending black widow spiders in the YouTube comments section, posting my own videos of myself holding them in my hands. Something something righteous autism empathy, who knows. My parents used to say I should be a criminal defense lawyer. That’s probably the most important thing you should know about me going into all this. I’m the biggest black widow white knight the world has ever seen ever since I was 11 years old. I would put them on my face and smile for gods sake. Don’t talk to me about fandom.
