Ally: cheese and grape jelly, are you fucking psychotic? Why would you do this to us?
Emily: it's just like the --
Lou: what the fuck is happening?
Emily: it tastes like the bacon is a little candied
Siobhan: I don't like grape-flavoured jelly
Ally: what is wrong with you?
Murph: Dude
Siobhan: oh my God he's crying
Lou: I'm not Murph, I don't stuff the whole thing in my mouth at one time. Brennan you've been silent.
Brennan: I move through life as a person, who I would say, for a person whose whole livelihood is based around adventures, I'm not a very adventurous person. Siobhan famously roasted me about I get the same hamburger every day. And in my head, sometimes I think --
Murph: every day?
Siobhan: every day, he gets the same hamburger --
Brennan: that restaurant closed down, so I don't --
Siobhan: yea because they made up, they pretended their meat was good, and in fact, it was bad.
Brennan: it was worse than they said it was, but I still liked how it tasted. The, uh, in my head I will imagine sometimes what a risk would be like, what a change would be like. And in my head I go "that change would be not my favorite." But then I go "am I a coward and closing myself off to new experiences?" And every time I expand my horizons, I get slapped in the face, and it is not fun. I will stick with plain breakfast sandwiches.

"Cottage cheese on a baked potato is normal"
Is it, Siobhan? Is it really?
#Dimension 20#I say this as someone who very much likes cottage cheese and fairly regularly eats it with some kinda wacky stuff#But I have literally never heard of putting cottage cheese on a baked potato#Adventuring Party

re: prev rb. baked!!! i said baked!!!
#simple resippy. buy small ones (fingerling or whatever you can find—if you are fancy or american the sack will say smth like#'ideal for gratin' 'perfect for gratin' etc.)#wash them very well. use a gentle wire sponge if particularly dirty. u know they are clean when the water runs clean. crest them#or simply poke 'em a bit w a fork. (this will prevent steam from building up inside them and ensure even cooking)#then. in a big light bowl. plop poatoes + sprinkle salt & herbs & sesame seeds & pepper if desired. spray w cooking oil.#i use olive. anything w a similar smoke point will do. shake the bowl until the herbs n such have evenly coated the potatoes.#on a tray lay down a baking sheet then plop the potatoes on it evenly distributing them.#bake for 30-35 minutes at abt 170 C. actual time will depend on ur oven and potato size etc#you should check them at the 25 min mark tonsee how theyre doing. they are done when the skin looks a bit papery#+ when poking them w a skewer or fork they fall away w little resistance and without leaving crumbs#enjoy them w cottage cheese or by themselves

Dodałam do niego pastę tahini, czosnek i trochę bliskowschodnich przypraw. Otrzymałam ciekawe smarowidło, które – według mnie – dobrze sprawdziłoby się również w kanapkach.
Żeby dodać całości koloru i świeżego smaku, posiekałam kilka gałązek naci pietruszki, trochę mięty i rozmarynu, połączyłam z oliwą z oliwek, skórką i sokiem z cytryny oraz solą i pieprzem.
12 młodych ziemniaków garść ugotowanej ciecierzycy (u mnie ze słoika) 250 g półtłustego twarogu solidna łyżka tahini 2 ząbki czosnku 2 suszone pomidory z oleju 3 gałązki naci pietruszki gałązka miety kilka igieł rozmarynu skórka otarta z cytryny łyżeczka soku z cytryny kilka łyżek oliwy z oliwek e.v. przyprawy: pół łyżeczki słodkiej papryki, pół łyżeczki wędzonej papryki, pół łyżeczki płatków chili, pół łyżeczki kuminu, pół łyżeczki sproszkowanych nasion kozieradki, sól i czarny pieprz do smaku
Wykonanie:
Ziemniaki umyć, wyszorować, ugotować (chyba, że zostały nam z poprzedniego dnia) i wystudzić. Ciecierzycę odsączyć na sicie. Suszone pomidory pokroić w drobną kosteczkę.
Nać i zioła opłukać, osuszyć i drobno posiekać, zwłaszcza ogonki i rozmaryn. Przełożyć do niewielkiej miseczki lub słoiczka. Dodać skórkę otartą z wyszorowanej cytryny i sok. Wlać oliwę z oliwek, tylko tyle by przykryły zieleninę.
Zmiksować w blenderze czosnek z twarogiem i tahini. Dorzucić po pół łyżeczki słodkiej papryki, wędzonej papryki, płatków chili, kuminu uprażonego na suchej patelni, soli i pieprzu. Wymieszać. Jeśli pasta będzie zbyt gęsta (to zależy od wilgotności twarogu), dodać trochę jogurtu naturalnego.
Na dużej patelni rozgrzać chlust oleju z łyżką masła. Wrzucić ziemniaki i rozgnieść na placki szerokim garnkiem. Usmażyć na złoto, przełożyć na drugą stronę, dodać ciecierzycę, obsypać kozieradką, solą, pieprzem i usmażyć na rumiano. Podrzucić kilka razy, aby równomiernie rozprowadzić przyprawy.
Na talerze wykładać twaróg, ziemniaki z ciecierzycą, obsypać suszonymi pomidorami, popackać ziołami z oliwą, oprószyć pieprzem.

re: christmas poll
HELL YESSSSSS KUTIAAAAA!! it's the best!! i didn't know poland has it too, i wonder how similar is it to ukrainian kutia. ukrainian kutia typically looks like this, it has wheatberries, poppy seeds, honey or sugar, various nuts and raisins
however in my region (podillia) it's typically less of a porridge and much more liquid, same ingredients. like like this
Yooo kutia gang assemble!!
The version I know looks almost identical as the first pic. I personally add honey, dark raisins, nuts and occasionally almonds but I also pour a lot of milk over it (not as much as on the second pic tho), just a personal preference. My grandma makes a version that has much more poppy, is sweeter and she even adds cranberries (which I hate).
My grandparents from both sides generally think that my version is some kind of desacration of the divine tradition of kutia and we refuse to eat each others' dishes haha
Actually I think it's not only similar, it's probably just the same kutia as in Ukraine. Both sides of my family were relocated by force from near Lviv after ww2 so they brought the tradition with them. I have some friends living in Silesia (formerly German land) and almost nobody even knows what kutia is there. All I can say is they don't know how much they're missing!!
#thanks for educating me how 'wheatberry' is called in eng#one of the best nonchristmas dishes from eastern borderlands are pierogi 'ruskie' with cream#idk how they're called in english#i mean the ones with cottage cheese and potatoes#every time i order them at a restaurant and they don't give me cream i riot#that's why i look for ukrainian restaurants in the country and abroad#they always serve cream and i don't even have to ask#not esc#answered

Whoever gave the foods for that American food poll is clearly either west or east coast. No one from the south would slander good food like that, and no one from the midwest would neglect to mention the atrocities that every aunt or neighbor brings to potlucks. If you’ve suffered thru the mayo and jello based salads and the Frankensteined casseroles, you know they belong on there over grits, biscuits and gravy, and boiled peanuts. Also like, the basic white person from the suburbs meal of boiled/baked chicken, steamed broccoli, and steamed carrots, all with no seasoning…that should honestly have a spot too
#call me when you’ve had to eat ambrosia salad that ur classmate’s mom made in order to not hurt her feelings#it’s mayo coolwhip canned fruit cocktail shredded coconut and those mini fruit marshmallows#some people will tell you it’s yogurt not mayo but true midwesterners know it’s miracle whip or plain mayo#truly the worst thing ive ever experienced#green bean casserole too? like made with canned soup and frozen or canned green beans?#macaroni salad? that ur neighbor though was ok made with just mayo and mustard?#mayo-based potato salad? with hard boiled eggs in it?#that one popcorn salad????? that is literally an affront to all that is holy?????#JELLO COLESLAW??????#ANYTHING SERVED AT A STATE FAIR?!?!?!?!?!?!?#oh also that one gross lime jello and cottage cheese abomination#look some of these *can* be good when made right#like macaroni salad and potato salad and green bean casserole#but they SO VERY RARELY made right and have ALMOST ALWAYS been sitting in the sun or ur aunts hot car for an hour+#(im not gonna slander tatertot hotdish it’s good ok?)#also how are rocky mountain oysters not on that list#spray cheese too??? literally so many things to validly come for us over#velveeta??? like idk man there’s a lot out there#hot pockets lmao come for our hot pockets

This is what the woke NOVAite liberals want you to think potato salad looks like
#it tasted like butter 😟#i forget that the -ite suffix isn't like. inherently derogatory#cause i used it that way with something totally random and my sibling thought it was funny which re-enforced it#except they had no idea the reason behind it and of course it conveys absolutely zero meaning outside the context of the potsdamite joke#but anyway the woke nova-ites can't make potato salad#also the cottage cheese was super sweet :(
