Conn's Syndrome: Causes and Symptoms Explained
### Understanding Conn's Syndrome: Key Points for Your Health Conn's syndrome, or primary hyperaldosteronism, is a condition that can significantly impact your health if left unmanaged. It is caused by the overproduction of aldosterone.
Conn’s syndrome, also known as primary hyperaldosteronism, is a condition characterized by the excessive production of aldosterone, a hormone produced by the adrenal glands. This overproduction leads to an imbalance of sodium, potassium, and water in the body, which can result in high blood pressure (hypertension) and other health issues. Here are the key details about Conn’s syndrome: What…

Gigabyte needs to buy a lottery ticket.
To date (as of 2022), 49 cases of feline PHA (Primary Hyperaldosteronism) have been reported, and it may be the most common adrenocortical disorder in this species.
I don't know if she's #50. Her vet said that there have only been 4 diagnosed in the past 6 years, but I'm guessing she meant in general. I initially thought she meant just GA.
#gigabyte#feline primary hyperaldosteronism#she has a tumor on one (or both?) of her adrenal glands that is causing too much of the hormone aldosterone#it regulates blood pressure and potassium#her level is 788 and high normal is 261#i forget what the unit is that's used to measure but yeah it's high#my precious angel has a rare disease in terms of diagnosis#they suspect it's higher but not everyone catches it#does this mean someone from the UGA vet school will be contacting me at random

The exact anniversary of it went past without me noticing, but this month marks five years since I last had to go to an ER or urgent care!!! :D
Still don't know what exactly is wrong with me health-wise, but I am doing so much better than I used to be it's a little ridiculous. I was in an urgent care or ER every summer for severe allergic reactions for years, and now I hit that late June/early July mark and don't even notice
#the person behind the yarn#hospital mention#okay this isn't quiiiite true#I did have to go to an urgent care last year or the year before#but that was not for allergies or severe dehydration#that was because I had to get my potassium levels checked and my primary care doctor didn't have the ability to do bloodwork on the weekend#but five years!! oh my gosh five years!!#I had a doctor visit today that basically boiled down to 'something is wrong with you. don't know what though. definitely not RA'#which on the one hand is good news! I do not have an autoimmune disease that will get worse over time!#but on the other hand means I'm back at square one. again.#but oh my gosh FIVE YEARS of no hospital#sometimes it feels like I am making no progress towards a diagnosis#but realizations like this really help. five years! five years. I am getting better#I might have moments where I don't feel well and downward slumps but I have to remember#I am doing so much better healthwise than I was in 2019 even on my worst days now

Being prone to overthinking and not being able to stop fixating on a topic, connected to being able to nocebo yourself, is awfull
Like, what do you mean that because something happened/I had one symptom that could be connected with some health issue and I fixated on the cause of it hard enough I actually started to show other symptoms out of nowhere?
#does it count as hipochondria?#honest question#cause something happened and it shouldn't be anything live threatening where i live#but i found this other option where its life threatening level of bad andve been exhibiting symptoms similar to whats described#(except thoes which 'should be showing two days ago and before it you should be unable to lift your arm nevermind think clearly')#but i also had bloodwork yesterday and the only wrong thing they found is low magnesium and potassium levels#(or at least its the only thing they prescribed me)#but i physically FEEL ill and I do exhibit symptoms that can be externally checked like rised body temperature or heavy shivers#but sometimes when im distracted by other things enough they just stop??? (not sure about the temperature but still)#and then they return when im not distracted?????#i can be talking with someone and suddenly feel good and just as i stop it all comes with vengeance?#health issues#health questions#does anyone know what it actually may be?#healthcare#important#i need answers#but for real#health concerns#health anxiety#hypochondria#not sure but???

So I’ve got asthma and a regular inhaler and with trying to get over pneumonia breathing has been especially difficult lately but I was supposed to drive my grandma and I to a big park a while away from her so we could walk around and look at the foliage so while I was almost there I used my inhaler but I had only ever taken one puff and because it’s been especially difficult lately and I was going to walk around I decided to take two because the prescription said I could, then I get to my grandmas house a few minutes later and my legs start feeling weird as I’m walking into her house and then pretty suddenly my legs go numb and it’s like they’ve just disappeared it is so strange I wasn’t able to stand if I wasn’t propping myself up and we look it up because it’s kind of frightening and apparently sometimes albuterol can cause a reaction where it drastically lowers the potassium in your body and you have weird symptoms from that like loosing feeling in your arms and legs and you just have to get more potassium and ride it out so that’s what we did but I couldn’t drive till a few hours later and could barely walk most of the day and this is all to say that if you are using an albuterol inhaler and all of a sudden lose feeling in your legs it might be because you don’t have any potassium anymore
#also I started doing research on it and apparently albuterol is a treatment for renal failure to drastically and immediately lower someone’s#potassium level before they can be properly treated for the disease#interesting reaction and I feel like it should be talked about more#I cried a lot today and we didn’t get to go on our adventure because of it

tumblr: soda is actually good for you!!
chubbyemu: there is not a single kind of soda that is actually not harmful to you
#txt#ha :)#even if it hydrates it's minimum hydration#and if you're basing that knowledge on studies what is the chance they were paid by soda concerns to be written#that plus it either leads to diabetes#or low potassium levels#or kidney stones#there's no winning there#you know the funniest arguments are that it has sugar in it and your body needs sugar so it's ok#or that it doesn't matter what kind of sugar is in it because your body 'can't differentiate'#how are you so confidently wrong#your body needs carbohydrates not white sugar specifically#even less corn syrup#and carbohydrates exist in healthier#less-damaging forms

I keep forgetting to ask, but do y'all have any recommendations for B12 supplements that are like liquigels (or whatever those are called) instead of tablets? I'm allergic to at least one of the inactive ingredients in the B12 supplements I've tried, but I have never yet had a reaction to inactive ingredients of liquigels (capsules? what are those called?) At this point, I am not looking for any particular dosage of B12; my doctor just wants me to try it to see if it helps with severe muscle cramps. Once I see if it works, she's going to do more bloodwork and determine which dosage I should be taking (I have had other bloodwork to rule out other possible causes, and at this moment B12 is the only thing I'm testing low on)
#ask away!#medical mention#I've narrowed down a list of four inactive ingredients#of which I am allergic to at least one#however: that list is from one of my other meds#because I can only take it from one manufacturer and not the other#and there are only four ingredients in the one I can't take that aren't also in the one I can#that does not mean that I am not allergic to OTHER inactive ingredients#the level of muscle cramps I am having is apparently odd to have without low potassium or magnesium#which is...great lol#but also I have electrolyte supplements and do take them regularly#but apparently 'can see that muscle cramp from across the room' and 'leg cramped so bad it buckled and I almost fell down stairs'#are the points where doctors start getting a little creative#and going hm...maybe B12?

also make sure to replenish your electrolytes! they're very important for hydration!
Genuine friendly summer reminder for my fellow fat people.
We have more body than skinny people so we also contain more water and therefore need to drink more. 2 Litres is something skinny people need to drink we need more. I aim for 4 litres a day.
While any waterbased liquid is good try to not drink all 4 litres in coke or soda. I absolutley do recommend sport drinks or similar things. Fat people like us, or at least me, sweat a lot in this heat even without sport. Refill those electrolytes. Your body will thank you.
My go to drink at home is a 2 litre jug of water with just enough store bought raspberry or orange syrup that it has a taste thats not water.
Please stay hydrated in this heat and take care of your body. Its the only one you have.
(If you clown on fat people in tags/replies/comments I will hunt you for sport)
#EDIT: missed the single sentence ab electrolytes mb#reiteration on that point is still good#i think potassium is a particularly important one bc low potassium levels can make you urinate more frequently#meaning you can lose a lot of water and a lot of electrolytes too.
