Panya History - The Present

This is the second part of a bigger post about Pidge and Anya's history together. The last post was about Pidge and Anya before the events of Voltron Force, this one will deal with them during it <3

Anya's skills as Royal Advisor have grown now, she's still in training, but she's able to take on jobs by herself that normally Coran would take instead. While on a job, staying at a far town from the castle of lions, she watches the destruction of the city of Chozzerai, the closest city of the castle, as 9th kingdom soldiers attack her home on live news. The Galaxy Garrison arrives quickly, too quickly she notices, but don't seem to stand a chance against whatever upgrade the kingdom has now, and then saw the robeast, and soon after the lions. Her eyes landed on green, and she knew she had to go home asap. After the fight was said and done, Anya's only focus was work and getting the soonest flight possible.

When she landed she was nervous, she hadn't seen the boys in two years, only visiting them once during their five-year sentence. She knew it was them because Allura would refuse to let anyone else touch the lions, so she knew she was going to see him again. The fractal door lowered and Pidge was the first person she saw, and the first person she ran to after the ramp settled on the ground. Pidge had heard of her landing and ran out the door before she was even off the fractal, not wanting to waste any time he'd have with her.

And that was how it was for about a year, she got settled as the cadets' etiquette teacher, being diplomats isn't enough when you're in the presence of royalty, and checked in with Pidge every day since she got back. Pidge made sure to spend a break with her, most of the time it was lunch, they both had bad habits of not eating good meals and worked instead. Anya had never seen Pidge, or the team, go out on missions, so every time he went out was terrifying for her. She trusted all of them but seeing the people she cared about off in war isn't a nice thing. But they always came back, and they would take a break if they had the chance.

Then Allura, Larmina, and Coran got trapped, and the horror and anger on the boys faces as Anya saw their own trauma as gladiators being pushed onto them let her know she wasn't going to be calm any time soon. They had taken her with them this time, if anything happened to Allura and Coran then Larmina would need her help on the royal side. But they were ok, and even signed a treaty with the planet Ebb, Pidge kept teasing Anya for doing her first big royal advisor job with the team active.

A few weeks later, Anya kept her mouth shut, Keith and Lance were effectively on a rampage after what Wade had done to an innocent planet and streaming Allura's gladiator fight to the entire universe. He was done for, and she couldn't stop them from going. Pidge was mad too, sure, but he was madder at those two for fighting with the princess and making it look like taking down Wade was for a personal vendetta for Allura. She refused to leave, and they took off without her anyway, giving Anya a headache from the high blood pressure that came with worry.

They came home and Pidge was hurt, she knew it. He was hiding it until she poked his back and heard him hiss in pain. The second he looked at her all he saw was anger, frustration and glossy eyes. He didn't fight it when she dragged him to the medical wing of the castle, and effectively threatened when she mentioned pushing on his wound again if he didn't go. It was unfortunate that Baltons produced so much excess blood, the inside of his suit was covered, and it looked like it was only a miracle for Pidge to still be alive. Medbay patched him up, but before he was discharged, Anya ran. She hated crying and after staring at how hurt Pidge was for too long, she couldn't stop herself. She found an empty balcony and tried to calm down, only for Pidge to bust through the doors when she finally controlled herself. He didn't do a good job calming her down, instead making her angrier as she told him she loved him. That was one of the happiest moments of his life, after she calmed down again and agreed to start a relationship.

The missions would still freak Anya out, especially the one where they lost Vince and also lost power in Voltron. They were stuck on Poseidon for almost an entire day, and Anya was going through an anxiety attack by the time they got back. Pidge couldn't promise it wouldn't happen again, but he did promise to calm her down every time. Though sometimes he couldn't really do that if he was stuck in medbay, like after he returned from Ariel suffering from electric shock.

Eventually, Anya was sent off for extra schooling that Coran nor Arus could supply for Royal Advisors, and she was gone for a good bit. Neither of them liked the distance, but this was her last step to fully becoming an advisor, so it had to happen. She had heard from him that Allura had officially stepped down, choosing to take up her mantle as queen as she was born to do. Vince took over blue for her, which Anya agreed was a good choice because of his affinity for magic. On her coronation, Anya came home. She helped Coran set up the details, and she would help direct it once she landed. Pidge rushed to her side again, like when he first heard of her return to the castle that long time ago. She was home with him, and that was how he liked it.

Scemma alternative reality

So, I’ve been thinking—as I often do—about Emma and Scott.

The unpleasant truth is that in an endless series like the X-Men, they were almost doomed to fail from the beginning. Jean and Scott were the original couple, and it was practically guaranteed that at some point, someone in editorial would think, "Hey, let's take it back to the roots."

Plus, Jean and Scott have that epic love story—dying for each other, they have so powerful son, Scott being willing to sacrifice it all for her, their romance so unique and iconic for the X-Men saga… bla, bla, bla. Yeah, It’s true. It’s epic, and it’s special, and that’s why different writers will keep coming back to it over time... BUT!

Scott and Emma, on the other hand, had a beautiful, grown-up romance, with its mistakes and falls, where they both learned how to be different, perhaps better, people. They went through some of the hardest times in mutant history together, but... it just doesn’t have the same punch as Jean dying so Scott and all of humanity can live on.

For Scott and Emma to truly become that iconic couple, they needed something that couldn’t just be swept under the rug. Something that would forever remind everyone that these two were together. And I honestly think it would have been perfect if they were the ones to bring the first mutant child into the world after No More Mutants.

I imagine a story where the X-Men are fighting their last battle for the survival of mutantkind. There aren’t many of them left. One year, nothing. The next, still nothing. Mutants just aren’t being born.

Ideally, I’d avoid the whole AVX story arc—it was poorly done, not a bad idea, but the way they tried to paint Scott as the bad guy was just ridiculous.

In any case, everyone gradually loses hope, maybe they truly consider a strategy of retreat, secret identities, trying to live in peace. And then Emma finds out she’s pregnant.

But of course, they’re never left alone by humans, or maybe aliens attack, and the X-Men throw themselves back into the fight. Emma ends up giving birth in some tragic situation, and now I’m borrowing from Ruby Summers, because I want it to be obvious from the start that this is a mutant baby. So Emma gives birth to a red-skinned child, just to piss everyone off.

Scott: “Beat us, poison us, break our bones, we’ll be back, and why?"

Emma: “Because we like it!"

Scott: “Emma…”

Emma: “Because we’re mutants!”

Favorite fall/chilly weather drink?

Rus - hot chocolate! Especially with lots of marshmallows. Might also really like white chocolate hot chocolate, but he doesn't like it with peppermint flavoring, or really any other flavoring besides maybe caramel.

Edge - spiced lattes. Whether it's nutmeg, cinnamon, "pumpkin spice", "spiced cider", whatever, as long as it's not too sweet too, he prefers his fall beverages with a shot of espresso lol

Stretch - mulled cider 1000%, he loves it soo much. Especially when they put a stick of cinnamon in as garnish? Forget about it.

Void - mulled cider black tea typically, but honestly any spiced tea is usually good with him. He doesn't usually add anything, but on the rare occasion he'll put a little honey in.

Cire (lovefell Sans) - dark hot chocolate with cayenne pepper. Him and his brother both love the stuff, and Lace's recipe is his favorite. The really thick, rich flavored kind.

Dusk (horrorfell Papyrus) - rooibus tea with a little brown sugar and milk. It's simple, and granted can be an any time of year favorite, but it's his favorite thing for a chilly fall morning on the porch, watching the leaves fall.

Blue - buttered rum. He’s got a little bit of a penchant for thick beverages, and he likes the way the sweetness is tempered well by strong, good quality rum. He doesn't drink often, but he makes an exception for buttered rum a few times every fall.

asdfghjkl thank you for the ask! Apologies this took so long, I love wanting to do multiple hobbies and subsequently not making progress on any of them

Anyway I'm a sucker for domestic mundane things, like the list of random facts VelvetFox posted in this ask, so here are some headcanons for the boys with that same vibe:

Infinite Blue LIs x Reader. No mentions of reader pronouns or gender. Also posted on Ao3 here.

Alexei:

Has journals full of thoughts and observations about anything and everything. Some of his writing is illegible and other parts make no sense to anybody but him because it's literally his runaway train of thoughts dumped onto paper. He sticks post-it notes with diagrams between the pages, jots down excerpts from Wikipedia pages, and overall it's not an aesthetic read... But flipping through can give you an idea of how this super genius's brain works.

He also writes about you in these notebooks, albeit they're written in between stuff like the thirty-seven fun facts of siphonophores and his favorite part of last night's dinner. Many of them are things you’ve never even noticed about yourself like the way you hold the steering wheel while driving. This is also where he'll stick date memorabilia, like movie tickets. (this hc was inspired by this fic by @sailxrmxrs <3)

If you two own a saucer chair or some other small round comfy seat, he'll probably fall asleep in it at least once. He curls up, all 5'10" of him tucked in that tiny space. Naturally, his body hurts when he wakes up and therefore he gets a bit grumpy. So next time if you see him dozing off maybe lead him to the couch or the bed so he can stretch comfortably.

Brooklyn:

I want to imagine that he has a closet only for his clothing irons and ironing boards. Like a fucking broom closet and you open it to see that there's those four boards and a dozen irons. These include vintage clothing irons, restored and repurposed. He knows how to use them and take care of them too. Why does this make me laugh so hard.

Clothes shopping. Take this man clothes shopping. Yes, he'll buy you anything but honestly? Even disregarding that it’s a fun time because he would enjoy discussing outfits, and if your taste isn't the same as his business-academia-formal style he could be convinced into trying an outfit you styled, or vice versa. Also he's a total simp every time you step out of the changing room. Need fit pics? He's got you covered.

Something tells me Brooklyn would enjoy snacks and desserts from around the world. He'd love to make them himself (and with you!), but you could just come home with some mitarashi-dango because your local Asian supermarket was having a sale and he's already cracking open the container for the ceremonial-grade green tea leaves.

Leo:

Leo's our favorite gamer guy, but I think he also enjoys jigsaw puzzles whether they be with his friends or you or both. These are the quiet nights where everyone is focusing, intently staring at the puzzle sitting on the coffee table while aimlessly chatting. It's super peaceful, though sometimes time slips by unnoticed and by the time you all finish it's two in the morning.

Does that thing where you put someone in a shopping car, sprint across the parking lot while pushing said cart, then jump on it while it's moving. He does it with his friends, you, and his future kid (albeit with a lot more caution). He really wants to kiss you while he’s doing it too, but maybe not because what happens if he hits a car, or worse, someone else?

While we're on the topic of transportation and kisses, every time you're sitting shotgun and he pulls the car in reverse he'll put his hand on your seat and lean in to kiss you. Every. Single. Time.

Kiss him first. It'll get him flustered. Do it.

Milo:

I want to believe he really likes having his hair brushed. If you ask him about it he'll never admit it beyond a quick affirmative, but anytime you sit behind him and start to gently run the bristles through his tangles, he could feel himself relaxing. It's soothing. He might fall asleep like that.

Milo would own a 3d printer. I have no definitive reasons why. Vibe check says he owns a 3d printer and will print out cool little knickknacks and give them to you without a word because they either help you in a mundane way (like a toothbrush holder), or he'll print out something cute like a tiny frog with a mushroom hat because he likes seeing your face light up.

Or he'll print out something cursed, like that Thomas the Tank Engine bottlecap where the liquid streams out of the eyes. It's a coin toss every time.

Rory:

Was that one kid reading with a flashlight under the covers. Even now that he's older, he likes to get a bed light and read before bed. Sometimes he gets super engrossed in it and you gotta peel that book off him. He’ll complain. Stand your ground. Otherwise he'll be super sleep-deprived and cranky the next morning.

If his future child also turns out to be an avid reader, he'll secretly change out their flashlight batteries. Or get them a night light with some half-baked excuse of, "so you don't turn on all the lights when you get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and wake the entire house up." Sure, Rory.

Speaking of sleep-related things, he really likes it when you fall asleep next to him/on him. His expression melts into the softest smile and he'll pull you in tightly. If he falls asleep on you, he's the kind to unconsciously hold onto you/must be touching you at all times. He gets really embarrassed about it if you mention this to him. I recommend taking a picture and making it his contact photo.

Tobias:

Has terrible handwriting but an impeccable signature. Don't ever ask him to write the grocery list because it takes forever to decipher his chicken scratch, but he'll sign stuff for fans in one fluid stroke, and that shit looks clean. And yes, he'll offer to sign something for you too.

Loves it when he's chilling on the couch after a long day and you flop on top of him. He'll happily be your teddy bear and let you lay there for hours, the two of you chatting and watching TV while he rubs soft circles on your back. Feel free to fall asleep like that too.

He's the type to enjoy flashy, expensive dates. He takes you out in his sports car to get dinner at a fancy restaurant, followed by spectating sports games from the VIP seats. But I also think incredibly mundane things, like the two of you going out just to grab ice cream in sweatpants and hoodies give him a special kind of happiness.

Seeing you sleepily rubbing your eyes as you come to pick him up from the airport is enough to make him giddy.

Executive vice president and head of SEGA’s Global Transmedia Group Justin Scarpone told Video Games Chronicle in a newly published interview that a new entry in SEGA‘s fighting game series Virtua Fighter is currently in development.

So we have a suite of titles in development right now that fall into that legacy bucket, which we announced last year at The Game Awards; Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, and we have another Virtua Fighter being developed. And so all that’s very exciting. And then in certain instances, we’re also doing animation series, or live-action films to augment that and be part of those roadmaps.
