Hello! It's me again. I hope you don't mind, but I would love to know if you have any headcanons on this one:
If the theory about Po being immortal is true, how do you think Tigress would react or will it change anything in their relationship (since Po is Master Oogway's successor and he will probably be living for like a hundred or a thousand years like he did).
If you do, thank you in advance ♡
Ayee ofc I don't mind :D
Okay so I am actually unaware of this theory if they mentioned it somewhere it's probably in one of the LoA episodes past the middle of s2 or PoD in which I haven't seen yet, but I'm pretty sure it's just exactly what I think it is so ye lol
First off, how many surprises about Po have we had? First it was the achievement of inner peace at a young age, next the obtainment of the Yin Yang Staff, then Hero's Chi, and now immorality?? Talk about crazy.
Not a question that Tigress is shocked. It's like she thinks she knows everything about Po already but every time something manages to prove that, in a way, he's in a "higher" position than she and that is the way it's going to be.
It's probably because she's used to being the top and being the best, another thing is that she's been training for kung fu her whole life, Po literally did kinda show up outta nowhere ngl lol, but he's a very good addition to the team and Tigress can't lie to herself about that.
Plus, Po has proven himself many times over, so above all she does feel pretty proud of him. It's a great thing tbh. Po's good at kung fu. He can handle this responsibility.
But like then it comes into question "can he really?" Cuz Tigress is gonna hear Po blabber about his newfound "power" (and the others, too, no doubt) for next few days, it's nothing braggy tho, just Po being Po.
The other unfortunate thing is that, until the concept of immortality really sinks in with Po, Tigress and the others will have to keep a close eye on him cuz he's going to try and do something like jumping off a cliff cuz he supposedly "can't die"
It takes a while for him to figure out that's not what it means!! He'll just be very hard to kill (?) but he can't be entirely reckless. He does have the pressure of being Oogway's successor on his hands, for one.
I feel like if it is true that Po is immortal, not sure if this has been been confirmed by the creators of KFP that Tigress and Po are in love, but imo it would be a bit weird for them to be in a relationship since one would age and the other would not.
I guess it would be okay? I used to watch Hetalia and they sort of touched on this with the countries falling in love with humans so it's not something that's entirely strange, however i would be more open to them being friends.
Tigress' respect for Po will increase as well. She really did start off as being annoyed by him and holding him in low regards but we see this gradually go upwards and it's beautiful. Awesome character development on both sides 👍
She does worry how her death and the death's of everyone else he cares about is going to affect him, though. He'll be outliving everybody else and he's going to be living a pretty lonely life. We all know how much he cares.
Tigress isn't sure if this means she should spend more time with him, or just keep at what she's doing. Because if she spends more, her departure is going to hurt a lot.
It's a lot to take in, and definitely something to get used to.. again. XD

I need to know your thoughts on Shifu and Oogway!!! From my point of view I totally see that Shifu just wants to be Oogway's best friend (and like really close to him in a platonic way). He's SO LOYAL TO OOGWAY. My man Shifu stays with Oogway after the original furious 5 break up. And everytime a character mentions Oogway after his death Shifu is like 🥺🥺😠😠
I have so many scenes and moments that back up this wholesome relationship and I need your thoughts.
though I’m not much of a fan of LoA (for many obvious reasons) I must agree with you on those points! the only things I’ve considered canon in LoA is the character stories, not the character’s personalities (like seriously, Good Po from the episode “Bad Po” is a better interpretation of canon Po than actual LoA Po.... wow that was a lot of Po’s-) so their character arcs and backstories are what interest me the most, especially Shifu’s story on his father and what a load of shit he is (I know he redeemed himself in the end, I apologize for my foul mouth, daddy issues as of late, y’know?)
Shifu’s father left him on the steps of the Jade Palace, causing Oogway to claim Shifu in his care (which is really interesting cus you parallel that to Tai Lung, Tigress, and Po, all students that are extremely special to him and have also been abandoned from their own families). ever since I’ve always looked at Oogway and Shifu as a father/son bond, not just a very close friendship (which again, is very interesting if you look at the parallels between him and his “star students”, because just like they did, Shifu has become very knowledgeable in the art of kung fu and he seemed like the type of person who strived to make Oogway proud of him as his students strived to make him proud. it’s like a never ending cycle of traumatized adoptee’s and honestly I think that’s cute!).
I believe Shifu had every right to remain loyal to Oogway, and I know how clear it was to have Shifu mourn over Oogway’s death. through out the series, Shifu has always obtained nothing but respect and admiration for the late grandmaster, as he takes great care of Oogway’s staff (and even patched it up after Tai Lung broke it, a little detail that I love!), has even grown fond in the color green as it shows on his wardrobe, and gets ticked off when Kai started disrespecting Oogway (we all knew the subtle twitch in his ear meant he was suppressing every urge to punch the yak lmao).
and though he was not a fan of Oogway’s prophecy at first, he chose to trust his master and do his hardest to make sure what the tortoise predicted was true (”I ask for you to trust in your master as I’ve learned to trust in mine”). this, I think, all traces back to Shifu’s past with his shitty father. where he abandoned Shifu as a adolescence, Oogway took him in and raised him as his own son, that kind of bond and selflessness, I’m sure, has stuck with Oogway to this day. their bond of trust, respect, and care is something you rarely see with a teacher and student, and dare I say a father and son (*cough cough* Tai Lung and Shifu, I’m looking at you 2 *cough cough* and Li dON’T THINK YOUR OFF THE HOOK EITHER! I’M STILL PISSED YOU LIED TO YOUR OWN SON AFTER NOT SEEING HIM FOR LITERALLY 20 YEARS!) and I enjoy seeing their relationship. though it did sting me when Master Oogway announced Po as his successor... ouch...
I’m sorry, I ended up rambling haha! I just love this series so much! though do ask me more on these things if you want, I love venting on about kfp!

the first character i ever fell in love with: it was mr. ping, lmao. i’ve mentioned this before a long time ago, but i saw kfp backwards bc i started with the sequel, which i happened to catch on tv one day. before that, i’d seen the first one from the point where the dragon scroll is revealed to be blank to the end and never anything before that (seriously, it was kind of crazy that every single time i caught the first movie on tv, it was Always at the same spot lmao)
even back then, that means i’d seen mr. ping’s ‘there is no secret ingredient’ scene and his voice, design, and expressions all kinda served to endear me to him
a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: th. there aren’t any. at least. not off the top of my head
a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: i kinda fell away from shipping li and mr. ping, tbh, or at least. not like i used to. part of it is that their canon interactions were honestly kind of lacking. and then tpod came along and, while they have jokey Moments, i actually kind of enjoy them paired together with grandma panda in a nonromantic trio
i just get a very big kick out of their dynamics as a trio, ha
i could also probably put wolf boss/shen here, too, but perhaps not to the same degree
my ultimate favorite character™: y. yeah, it’s still mr. ping jfkfd;a
prettiest character: i. listen, kfp is like. very well-known for its character designs and it’s very hard for me to choose hghf shen is pretty, but so are viper and tigress. and honestly the soothsayer is pretty too lmao i love her eyelashes jfjfkda;
is that weird it’s probably a little weird
i also really like junjie’s design, but i’m not sure i’d call him pretty laughs and if we’re going with tv series, i also always really like shi long’s design and i would call her pretty
so. uh. take your pick, i guess :v
my most hated character:
my OTP: i actually don’t have a romantic OTP for this fandom, which is really odd for me. the main two relationships i care the most about are the familial ones between mr. ping and po and shen and the soothsayer. i also really enjoy the hero-villain relationship between shen and po, but i never shut up about that as it is so i’ll leave it at that jjfkd;a
nowadays, i do tend to focus mostly on shen and the soothsayer, but that’s mostly bc shen still stands as my most ‘active’ kfp muse rip
my NOTP: i don’t. particularly like pairing any of the villains with the heroes in a romantic sense. i’m not against this practice in general, but with these particular heroes and villains, their resulting dynamics are just kind of. icky lmao and not very fun for me to contemplate or play around with
favorite episode: whispers going to go with tpod and loa for this one bUT. tpod is actually kinda hard for me to pick out a favorite episode bc i feel like it’s all around pretty well-crafted and i enjoy it like. almost front to back in a very genuine way. also bc it’s a continuing narrative in a way that loa was not, it’s. uh. kinda hard for me to keep what happened in which episode straight
that said, i remember really enjoying the first season episode that involved jindiao and jing’s battle in the center of the mind. i just remember that whole episode being a treat, my weakness for the aforementioned trope aside lmao
loa is a teensy bit easier thanks to its more self-contained nature, but it’s also been a Long time since i last saw any of it l ma o
i do remember enjoying the episode where po lost his memory and was tricked into believing he was a bandit, even tho to this day i am BEYOND SAD that on two separate occasions we’ve seen po mistreat his dad and then never actually got to see the apology that no doubt eventually followed i mean coME ONNNN
saddest death: who’s actually died in this franchise uhhh
oogway ascending was. sort of sad?? but in a weird. sideways sort of way. like he’s obviously very much at peace with it all, but the fact it happens at night with that pretty, moving score and that he’s leaving everything in shifu’s hands and all but begs him to try to understand what he’s been talking about definitely make it a. Somber scene
oh my gOD WAIT. NOOOO. how could i have forgotten master thundering rhino hhhhhh that was sad. that was unbelievably sad, especially after having seen his short cameo in the holiday special
did they do that on purpose. just lodge that little nugget of pain in there. that’s not cool
favorite season film: probably to no one’s surprise, i do consider the second film to be the absolute best out of the trilogy. it Honestly feels like the perfect movie even outside of shen being my favorite villain of the three movie villains. the execution of it just feels Flawless, the emotional crux has a lot of weight and it’s carried excellently by characters who are likable and/or intriguing, and who play off each other very well i jUST. i love it A Lot
least favorite season film: yyyeah, also probably to no one’s surprise, even tho i still enjoy a lot of things about it, i do consider the third one to be the weakest. those things i enjoy about it are still really good tho, and i’ll admit to probably watching it more often than the first one bc of those things lmao
character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate: i. i’m kinda scared to admit this, but even tho i love tigress, she might fall into a light version of this category. like the fandom Adores her, and i don’t blame them one bit lmao, but it definitely leaves me with the realization that i’m not quite on the same page laughs
like i said, i don’t dislike her at all, i think she’s a great character and i have a lot of affection for her, ha, just. not to the same degree i think as most of the fandom thinking emoji
my ‘you’re piece of trash, but you’re still a fave’ fave: is anyone surprised by me saying it’s shen. there’s also probably both jindiao and shi long
my ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave: can i choose just tpod in general bc i feel like it gets lumped in as an inferior offshoot with loa, and it’s just. So Much better than that lmao
and i say that as someone who still enjoys parts of loa
for characters, tho, i will say mei mei probably falls into this group. there was a lot of backlash against her character before the movie, and i think it definitely faded after the movie, but. i do kind of wish there had been more to her in canon itself. she’s fun in tpod-- i especially love the kind of ditzy diva angle they went with for her there, but i just wish in the film itself there had been more to her than just ‘flirts with po a lot.’ they did lean into the diva characterization a little in her introduction, but seeing as her screen time from there was. Negligible, it really kinda went nowhere rip
oH ALSO. another character introduced solely as a love interest for po-- lu shi. i love her. i love her so much lmao. and her interactions with po were so funny and endearing to me. and i don’t thinks she’s been vindicated like mei mei was and that is Such A Shame she is hilarious
my ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it’ ship: i don’t. think i have o-- oh. wait. it’s probably tai lung/shen but that’s more of a lowkey investment in how they would interact period and not necessarily with romance or sex thrown into it jfjf;ka
my ‘they’re kind of cute, and i lowkey ship them, but i’m not too invested’ ship: lbr pretty much everything that isn’t under my NOTP up above is in this category. this particular fandom/series just didn’t really inspire a lot of shipping feels in me thinking emoji
