gm im scared to watch the yingdu chapter op i fear i will not survive it

im trying my best not to think too deeply about some of the things I see on here but. they irritate me so.

can I ask why, less than ten shows from the end of the american leg of the tour, we are STILL making comments about joe and pete’s “lack of energy.” or about how they both look “bored” — or, my favorite being, “wilted flowers without any sunlight.” im not black, so I don’t really feel comfortable unpacking the racial microaggression that lies within that statement, but as someone who has struggled with substance abuse, I feel much more comfortable talking about that.

so let’s talk about pre-hiatus show “energy” for a moment.

those beloved pre-hiatus shows where both of them are wizzing around the stage, spinning around, and throwing themselves on the floor — I would bet money that a majority of those shows that joe & pete were high or drunk or some combination in between. joe was an addict (something he openly admitted to being in his book) and while I’m unsure of pete ever used the word outright, he had his own struggles with substance abuse as well.

the “energy” you so desperately crave from the boys, the kind you so desperately want back, was a result of that addiction. joe admitted that he turned to drugs and alcohol before shows as a way to deal with his crippling anxiety and imposter syndrome. and pete has openly admitted to forgetting entire shows bc he was drunk or high or something else.

while yes, the boys don’t thrash around or writhe on the floor like they used to for a variety of reasons: they’re older, joe has had multiple back surgeries for his chronic back condition — but also. they aren’t performing in a drunken, drugged haze anymore. they’re giving us all the energy and happiness that they can, while 100% SOBER.

for me, i’d happily take their sobriety over some “pre-hiatus” energy.

So, I’ve finished reading Sindbad no Bouken up to its ongoing (ahh, I’m so happy that I’m able to stay with the fandom even though Magi is over, not to mention that the prequel is so g o o d). And to celebrate it, I made Magi character sorter one more time.

Now THAT is the perfect TOP-3 result for me.

Putting the rest one under cut, but it’s kind of confusing I don’t know how the hell Zepar managed to get higher than magi!Sin, like, of course I love him in snb much more but WHAT THE...And Ren siblings are lower than they should be, so do not trust it completely, better ask me if you’re interested.

a thought i had, while rewatching 1ep3 of link click:

so interesting how CXS, from the beginning, is a character who specifically emphasizes the importance of a "trustworthy" partner, of mutual companionship — and how LG is constantly omitting and obscuring truths, trying to protect him mostly yes, but still lying, still shrouded in enigma. LG can never quite relinquish control because he Knows too much; isn't there something tragic in that? in LG carrying this secret burden of saving the one he cherishes most, feeling further away from CXS the more he tries, as the lies by omission, and the half-truths pile up.

all for this earnest, pure soul who above all else just wants someone he can put all his faith into, and rest easy. and how LG is and is not that person — is devoted enough, cares more then enough, too much, and yet by nature of the extent of this care is driving this irreparable wedge between them...

(it makes me wonder what attracted CXS to LG. we know why LG is attracted to CXS after all: his earnestness and naivety. we see that on full show in their very first moment on that court together, with CXS waxing poetic about the preciousness of trust in partnerships. if cxs is a dazzling sun, perhaps LG is the cool shade to shield him from the unrelenting heat.)

if you look at photos and gifs and videos of soul punk era patrick and think that was the happiest or healthiest that he has ever been. i want you to look in the mirror really closely and examine why. think about it really hard for me ok.
