I just finished watching Avatar: The Last Airbender. I thought it was fantastic, though I have one☝️ complaint...

It is CRIMINAL that the Gaang never addressed/discovered Appas fear of fire. 😤

Poor Appa was sold to a fire nation circus where he was abused and whipped with fire and forced to preform which made him scared of fire. Azula even ADDRESSES THIS FEAR. "Ah, afraid of fire now, are we?" SO ITS A LEGIT FORMED FEAR. BUT ITS NEVER BROUGHT UP OR DISCOVERED BY THE GAANG?? EVEN THOUGH SUKI WAS THERE AND WOULD KNOW ABOUT HIS FEAR TOO???

How a sky bison gonna fight the fire nation IF HE'S SCARED OF FIRE? They TOTALLY should have addressed that. it could have been a bonding moment between Toph, Aang and Appa and everything!😭😭😭😭

HOW SWEET WOULD IT HAVE BEEN IF THE GAANG FIGURED OUT WHAT HE'S BEEN THROUGH BY THE BURN SCARS ON HIS PAWS, THE HOLES IN HIS BACK/SHOULDERS/HEAD/FACE, THE WEIGHT HE LOST AND THE STRAINED MUSCLES AND HAD A WHOLE EPISODE PAMPERING APPA AND TENDING TO HIS INGURIES?? 😭😭

Especially since at this point he'd been missing for like 4 weeks by this point?? Making an episode where everyone has a special reunion moment with Appa and showing the Gaang helping Appa physically and mentally recover from EVERYTHING he's been through would have been the best. 😔😔😔 Would have been my favorite episode by FAR.

I would LOVE to draw a comic about this myself but that would be a TON of work and research to make sure I write everyone's characters correctly and have the timeline of events all line upppp... and I could write it but the truth is I'm a lousy fic writer and I don't think it would come out the way I wanttttt 😩😩😩

Hopefully I can find a fix-it fic for this particular issue or the post war comics will surprise me with its Appa content 👀👀👀

My favorite fire bender hc is they really like sitting in the sun. Idk why I like it so much it just brings me great joy. Honestly, all I want is just a fic of like Zuko sitting in the sun like a cat and the gaang being like “haha that’s cute. Why is he like this?” Like that’s it! That’s the entire fic. Add as many instances of this as you want but the fic boils down to that.

Yet this seems to be impossible to find. I swear, I’m a fairly simple man with simple wants. All I want is one of my og blorbos just vibing in the sun like a kitty cat. I’ve read a toh fic of just a 5+1 fic of a guy taking a nap. Why can’t I get the same exact thing but it’s Zuko just wanting to be in the sun and getting to be in the sun cause he’s a cat?

This post has no real meaning. Only just if you know of a fic like this please send it to me. Sometimes you just don’t want to make all the content you wish to see in the world.

So we all know by now that lots and lots of people have experienced P.A.D.S., Post Avatar Depression Syndrome. Basically people feel this intense grief for our planet and this longing for Pandora, so much so that people have committed suicide in hopes of being reincarnated in a place like it. But I want to show you another side.

I don’t believe that I have pads. In fact, I think I’m quite the opposite. I always feel so good after watching Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water. I feel connected to nature, to myself, and at the same time a bit distanced from everyone else because I feel like this. I haven’t found anything like this on the internet yet, but maybe there’s someone else out there who feels like I do.

Not only do I feel happy, connected, engaged, and motivated to be a better person to try to save our planet, I also feel anger. Angry that this movie is a wake up call. We see that earth has been deemed a wasteland of pollution, and so the government takes matters into their own hands and does anything possible for profit, for revenge, for their own selfish selves. Now I’m not saying that I’m not selfish, I’m just saying that that is pretty much exactly how we will end up if we continue doing nothing.

I’m not sure if this was the message that James Cameron intended to send back in 2009, but it pretty much is. I think that we, as a global population can do better. Instead of saying “I’ll get to it one day” or “I start next week”, or next month, or next year, or once this or that, we can start today. Or if you’re like me on here when you should be sleeping, start in the morning.

You can start by taking a shower that’s 5 minutes shorter. Try to decrease it every week. Try carpooling. Try more meatless foods. That’s something that I’m working on right now, I’ve recently watched a documentary called “You Are What You Eat” on Netflix (go check it out it’s really interesting) and it shows how healthier you can be, the impact on the planet raising animals to be slaughtered, and the effect that those animals have on you. Growth hormones don’t look great. Free range is about 8 ft square per chicken. Not just running around in a field.

So I challenge you guys to be more like the Na’Vi and connect to nature everyday, even if it’s on your way to work or school and you appreciate the scenery. (Or even if you don’t.) Try some new foods. Help slow the inevitable destruction of the planet :)

Okay, I haven’t been drawing or active much at all, but I just had a realization on just how galaxy brain my brain is when making my D&D characters only for it to loop back around like Ghandi in the Civilization games and become walnut brain.

It’s all going under the cut because fuck it, this is me screaming into the void once more.

Okay, you have entered the screaming zone.

Now that the screaming is over with, on with the actual reason for this post, something I like to call

The “I’m not what I initially look like!” character designs! From right to left here are Ezra, Carrion/Blaze, Linus/Kress, Umberlea/Honey, Doe, Axel, Tempest/Luna, Cecillia, Yune, Selgy, Irina, Inspector, and Zarris/Ash.

In case you can’t read my handwriting, their initial vibes are as follows, in the order I stated just now: Priest, Tiefling, Kenku (Evil), Weird Bug, That one part of that song from The Sound Of Music*, Thief, Rich Boy, Probably Evil, Starving Artist, Granny <3, Vampire, Just Some Guy, and Bad Fashion Sense.

From initial sightings or from initial knowledge of all of the above, those are all pretty accurate assessments. We have a lot of evil or morally grey characters, weirdos, and that one weirdly buff rich guy who smiles too much. Also Zarris is here. I love him a lot, he gets to stay even though his logical tie here is very small.

HOWEVER, if you dig deeper into said characters, you receive this:

-Ezra Mason: Werewolf Preist, hates corrupt church people. -Carrion: Chased from his home for being a ‘Bad Omen’ in their eyes, joined a circus, circus got murdered, now seeking justice. -Kress: Traded his wings to a witch for the survival of his home, was kicked out for the action. -Honey: A trickster god reincarnated her into a bee. -Doe: Ended up in the material plane by accident, made some enemies of fey cults. -Axel: My man has anxiety and depression and has had a rough time of it due to upbringing and one shitty pirate. -Tempest: Additional man with a rough time of it, but thanks to a wizard cult. -Cecillia: She’s just the Dampe of D&D, except she gives the undead jobs. -Yune: Royal artist who went on LOA to find inspiration. -Selgy: Assassin for the Unseelie Court <3 -Irina: Vampire, yeah, but just wants to live a normal life. -Inspector: My man has the memories of a dead Guard Captain and has no idea how to process those emotions. He had a husband and kid. God knows if they are alive given he could be hundreds or thousands of years old. -Zarris: My man is colourblind. That’s all.

I was going to put Cecillia’s in as “Undead Union Rep” but let’s be real here, she’s not the Union Rep for the undead, that’s Thanatos.

Anyway, I do love using the same or similar tropes or building blocks with characters. This is only using D&D characters, because of my other OCs/Characters I’ve designed... Fun fact, around half of those are also these sorts of characters (eg. Theo, Seven, Mona, Vic, Warlock, Aria, Zori, Goldie, Delilah, Lutelei, Lana, Mask, Architect, Alchemist... There’s more that’s just from a quick glance at my quick refs page that’s out of date).

I love the idea of “I’m not all that I initially seem to be” because that’s just people dude, people are not all the same sort of thing all the time. They’re fluid, they hide things, they come off one way but are another, and most of the time, there’s some mental health there under the hood, be it good or bad. Most of my characters have interesting struggles to deal with... some of them are also dead or undead, which is a unique struggle, but hey, we all feel a little dead sometimes.
