short disney rant that covers like a half of my disappointments:

I really miss the romantic tropes in Disney. That's what made a lot of the classics even magical in the first place. I'm sick and tired of the familial love and uniting the community themes (leave that to Pixar PLEASE).

We live in a world where saying you think that a terrorist organization breaking into one’s country and killing thousands, r@ping hundreds, and kidnapping hundreds is a bad thing. We live in a world where saying that that country has the right to fight back and destroy that terrorist organization and get their civilians back is a bad thing. We live in a world where people, the majority, defend the terrorist organization who abuse their citizens while the same people supporting them say they want to civilians to be “free” from the country that had been ransacked just months before. We live in a world where people side with an organization who have openly stated their desire to eradicate Jews. We live in a world where people act like kidnapped civilians had lived through a Disney fairytale. We live in a world where more people believe in already proven misinformation rather than admit that they are wrong. We live in a world where people are saying Hitler ‘had some good points’. We live in a world where people are more outraged by kids being arrested for attempted murder than months old babies being kidnapped. We live in a world where people can say the most antisemitic shit you have ever heard and get away with it because they’re using a new term that has roots within Jewish culture. We live in a world where people take history and change it to their liking and everyone believes them without a second thought because it gives them an excuse to continue hating on a certain group. We live in a world where people can chant out calls for Jewish genocide because of “context”. And she only got fired for plagiarism.

I’m not gonna lie this video felt incredibly disrespectful and culturally inappropriate. A white cis man traveling to occupied Palestine 🇵🇸 interrupting their daily routines all the while making his audience question the morality of the Palestinians. I wouldn’t be surprised if the video was heavily edited to favor his narratives.

Rio and Agatha were so out of character in episodes 8&9. Like up until this point you were pining for each other and the only problem was that Agatha had a lot of resentment and Rio felt remorse for what she did even though in her mind it was right. Suddenly Agatha doesn’t want to see Rio when she dies? Meaning never again? And Rio suddenly acts like she hates Agatha, as if she wasn’t doing anything to protect her up until three seconds ago and could not look at her without heart eyes? And Agatha dies and Rio WALKS AWAY? And you’ll know damn well that if she had a heartbreaking emotional breakdown later they would’ve showed it, running time be damned. The only good things that happened in these episodes were: the kiss we knew would happen (which had no romantic or intense buildup and ended tragically), and the plot twist at the end of episode 8. We never even saw how they met.

Rhaena was not raised at Driftmark, it would have been nice to see Rhaenys interact with her this episode. It was her mother Rhaena was closest to, so it’s such a good opportunity to have both of them try to connect with each other through Laena’s memory. Rhaenys could have given her something that once belonged to Laena to ease her fears, also as a reminder that her grandmother loves her (now that we will not see them interact ever again).

But I guess we cannot have Rhaenys ever think about her own children or have Rhaena hugged & consoled properly by at least one adult.

I’m glad I was warned by people’s reaction to the leak. That was the worst finale of a season I’ve seen in ages. It should have ended with the battle of the Gullet.

Also as a Rhaenicent shipper… wtf was that?! The character 180 for Alicent this season was wild. And I hated how useless Rhaenyra was… it made me so scared how the after show explanation said she’s in a point of “what do I do know?” SHES LITERALLY BEEN IN THAT EXACT POSITION ALL SEASON. Pls give me less screen time of them.

And focus on developing Jace (his death in the book would literally have to be in the premiere of the season?!?) and Baela and Aemond (like him being like “that would have been treason” I really think he’s in denial about being an attempted king slayer and I would love to see that side more?!?) and Aegon and Helaena….

So much of the screen time was wasted on characters who don’t do anything at this point or the war in the book so the writers were mostly unsuccessfully pulling stuff out of their asses…. Idk. I thought the first four episodes were great and promising and the last four episodes really dropped the ball and made me scared of s8 of GOT type endings

Hi, it’s me, a BIPOC creator ready to talk about Tom

I’m going to preface this in saying that I was really hoping that Tom would listen to the people who were genuinely disappointed in him and wanted him to do better. I want to highlight that people were expressing their own past history with right wing grooming towards racist ideologies, dog whistles, and downplaying of Black and Indigenous suffering during the peak of the situation on top of all the hurt that comes with another trans person not understanding how bad their internalized transphobia is. In light of Tom deleting his tumblr, changing the L4L twitter username and privating both that account and the main one in question….I have some points as a disappointed ex-fan that I hope extends to other communities.

First and foremost; I would like to be clear and transparent:

I was one of the POC creators that asked QLP from Florescent Red Studios to echo my feelings at the time. I work a lot, I try and vividly express this and didn’t have the energy at the time to address this despite having a lot of words that I have gratefully seen echoed through the situation as it has developed. A few of them have carried over from seeing devs being harassed from a separate situation over the past year that I have a lot of words on. If you’re the perpetrators of that event I highly suggest you apologize and work on yourselves, but that’s an issue for another time.

To be honest, I will always be disappointed in people like Tom who hide these sort of hateful views, but…sometimes I can’t say I’m not surprised. I want to give people the benefit of the doubt, because, in all honesty, I love this community we’ve built despite the drawbacks that come with making something new out of nothing and wanting to support other people. I can say for certain that a lot of us were the weird kids, and it’s more than amazing to have that safety in community, but I can’t ignore that there are some issues.

We’re still people despite being online, people who sometimes can be more busy than usual. Tone is hard to pick up on and sometimes it’s hard to fully communicate how you feel, but immediately jumping into hatred and defensive mode is never the way to go, and there should be room for open discussion when people are hurt and still trying to make space to educate others. There should be space for open discussions because we have this mediation tool that we can walk away from and come back to when we look at it objectively and not emotionally.

Tom, if you see this, I want to ask you if you actually fucking care at all about me and what a lot of people in the BIPOC community went through/are currently going through in the hands of conservatives that have groomed you into their ideology. I want to ask you if you really know about the actual fetishization we face if it isn’t straight up murder, misogyny/misogynoir, etc? Because it sounds to me like you were a tourist and I’ve strictly only been to either sides of the coast because you will never catch me in the South in this country unless I am in severely Black populated cities. And even then you’d never fucking catch me in the South.

It’s hard for me to touch on the grooming topic further because I’m a victim of multiple instances of CSA….I don’t believe in just pointing at one community, I think every community should keep themselves in check when it comes to shaming and ousting out p*dos and N*zis at the least- because again, they shouldn’t fucking be tolerated.

I will echo this sentiment: if you don’t condone what you’re writing about, you shouldn’t be condoning or perpetuating worse actions in a community full of BIPOC, disabled, marginalized, etc fans in real life.

On the note of BIPOC, please…please actually learn about our history and struggles. Whether it’s taking a history course, watching BIPOC educators….it’s something I think people should really learn about. It’s painful, it’s hard, but it’s what we have to live with everyday and don’t have the energy to remind people of all the time because of how draining it is.

I will be clear, I’m expressing my disappointment. I don’t want any harassment towards anyone, you shouldn’t be lowering yourself to that level.

But- I’m fucking tired and am urging people to do better. Please.
