Welcome To YanSim News!

Want just one blog to check when looking for all your favorite game updates? Well, that's what we made this for! Strictly updates, no drama, just ease of access.

This blog will be run by multiple mods in order to get as much coverage of the YanSim community as possible and not miss any updates (within human capability, of course).

However - We will not be revealing the mods who run this, in order to protect their privacy, and keep community news coverage fair. At least, for now - some mods may choose to reveal themselves if they feel comfortable, prefer using sign-off tags, or any other reason. But that is up to them and them alone.

Do you have a game you'd like us to add to our coverage that we haven't featured yet?

Feel free to DM us from your games blog, and we'll keep an eye out on it for future updates! We do not accept fan submissions, however, to respect creators as well as avoid repeat requests.

General rules and expected behavior:

18+, no minors. Ageless/minor blogs will be blocked on sight.

No drama: we will not be covering community drama, "tea", gossip, rumors, or anything else. Do not bring it to our asks, DM's, reblogs, or anywhere else we can see it.

Respect Mods privacy: if they don't want to be known, let them remain anonymous. You are not entitled to anyone's identity or private details.

All games are equal. We update as updates are made, without favoritism or unreasonable bias. IE, we will not listen to asks saying to focus on one game more than another, or to exclude a creator who asked to be covered here and was approved.

We don't support Ableism, Bigotry, Transphobia, Homophobia, Racism, and the like. If your actions have fallen under these categories, your platforming request will be rejected. Creators have a duty to their fanbase to acknowledge such actions and reprimand people who do them. Outreach: occasionally, if we see a game get big or if there's an interesting concept, a mod may reach out and ask if you'd like to be included here. You are free to accept or decline as you wish.

You can only get the Dead End in Day 4 by staying at Ren's apartment — the rest of your choices before that don't matter. I'd also pay closer attention to the black smoke and Ren's reaction towards it!

Ren disappears from the home screen because he promised to help the player out (and stop them from getting the Dead End again). Try replaying the game again from the beginning for a surprise!

"Unsent Memories" was another visual novel (initially being written by @10chimes / @unsentmemory, though the project has since been dropped and handed back to me /pos) and is set in the same universe as 14 Days With You. Its storyline and characters are completely separate from 14DWY, so you don't have to worry about them while playing 14DWY.

Oh, I get to talk about the anon situation now?

Hi, I'm someone who watched this unfold first hand in the discord- I see what you're doing, you're not going to spread misinformation and try to gaslight it further. I read your whole post, I have some points I on it I don't want to miss.

Pride isn't just about positivity, it's about highlighting the negative as well.

The devs talk to each other and actively help each other code their games or figure out fun mechanics together. It's not stealing code if they trade it among themselves. They also rp their yans together because IT'S FUN god damn. Do you know what devs also do? Actively talk about problem situations in the community that may affect their fans and personal peace and safety. They recognize they have voices that can highlight and bring awareness to, they want to use them.

The server is an 18+ server for Erotic horror vns and RH, it's 18+ because we are all adults. Because of that, we have an id system in place because we want to be able to have this space without minors engaging or sneaking in. No one has been doxxed, please provide the actual proof of this instead of throwing around a lie. Also, it's not a kink server, we're just horny adults who happen to mix our kinks with our fan indulgence, we try and keep it to the appropriate channels. On the topic of Ellie: No one is weird about her. You can't organize emotes on discord unfortunately, but Ezra has a fleshed out family and Eillie has her whole life written out with another vn creator. Ellie's emotes are NEVER used when we're simping over the love interests and are mostly only used when talking about Ezra's family life or day to day outside of Sugar. If it IS that much of an issue, they can be removed.

NO ONE IS ENCOURAGED TO HARRASS ANYONE. Do people vent? Yes. Can replies be made in passion and defense, YES. However, people are allowed to vent out their thoughts and get out their frustrations in a safe space before figuring out how to respond after getting those feelings out. I'm highlighting AGAIN that MANY PEOPLE on the server are autistic and a lot of your words are coming off as extremely abelist and infantilizing.

On the topic of the anon situation, as someone who saw it happen and have made my own realizations on top of talking about it after bringing up some of my concerns; while it was a messy situation, Lily was given false proof by two of the ex mods. They were asked, without shadow of a doubt, if it was real, and Lily believed them. They apologized, they want to keep apologizing to Sushi endlessly, and most of all they're doing their best to try an do the work to do better and be a better person and creator. Lily is 21, 21 year olds make mistakes and should be allowed to grow and learn from them.

You know what people are also allowed to do? Grow and learn about their identities. It's not lying to be questioning and figure out what label fits them. Are you going to yell a the 50 year old trans person who finally decides they're going to transition? NO. Lily is a trans person highlighting trans and intersex people and bodies. Futa has NEVER been used and is a banned term and is educated on how it's harmful to the trans community. Trans people draw/write other trans representation because we know how important it is to see it, wow. I've seen what fetishization is, Lily's not doing that.

We are ADULTS, if you don't want to engage in a space then move on, heck, make your own, but don't go around shitting on others for having fun in the space THEY MADE with their friends. You're just being a party pooper at this point and trying to whiteknight for a situation that honestly isn't worth all this in light of a dev supporting NAZISM AND TRANSPHOBIA.

I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your game and the characters you’ve created. I hate that some losers decided to take things too far and ruin the way the fandom on tumblr used to be. There is nothing wrong with you or your game and I really really appreciate how hard you’re working on it cause developing a game is something a lot of people could never do. I love the designs and unique personalities of all the characters and I can’t wait to see how your project grows in the future :)), I’m not able to support you with money since I’m struggling a bit myself but I’ll support in any other way I can cause I genuinely enjoy your game and from what I’ve seen of your personality through the way you interact with other creators and your fans, you seem like a genuinely sweet person and I really hope you’re doing better now mentally than before.

Real talk I've been really over whelmed recently with trying to balance everything in my life. School, posting, writing, and making my games it's all too much, the way I'm currently handling everything... I'm going to try slowing things down. I can only work on a daily or weekly schedule. So since anytime I try to post daily I slowly die, I'm going to try posting 1 thing weekly on any of my accounts. That may not feel like a lot and I may occasionally post an extra every now and then. Tbh the art isn't the block in posting. It's scanning the art and actually posting it. It makes me incredibly anxious and it takes a whole different load of dopamine to do and I only have so much a day. I apologize but this does mean that posting specifically here will be irregular since it will be spread out between my accounts based on what I've made and what I feel like. Have a lovely day <3

Hey everyone! It's, uh, it's certainly been a minute.

If my brief return a few months ago and then radio silence yet again is any indicator, I'm sure most of y'all probably know where this is going.

HOMECOMING, as of now (and for the indefinite future) is going to be on hiatus, and maybe discontinued.

This project initially started out as a silly idea, a culmination of my love for the yandere vn community and the wonderful games it has created, and my original plot and cast of characters. In the beginning, I was trucking along, working on scripts, planning out routes, spending hours of research on coding and how to get this thing up and running. Not to mention, the attention my silly lil project garnered was a lot. At least to me. I've had a semi popular writing blog before, and was no stranger to inbox asks, and how they pile up, or the notes that popular posts can get.

I was far too ambitious in all honesty, and once the glitz and glamor of a new project wore off, I hit a massive wall. Hard. It seemed that to actually work on HOCO was much like pulling teeth - whether it was writing, drawing, or even *thinking* about it, I found myself sinking further and further into a imposter syndrome of sorts.

And well, I guess making this announcement is sort of proving it right.

Even so, I've always known when to take a step back, when to settle down -- and now, I'm just making it official. I owe you all at least that much.

The blog will be staying up - I have no plans to delete it in the slightest. I'll just log out of it most likely - I'll still be around on my personal tumblr, where I'll hopefully start being more active there again.

Nothing could have prepared me for just how much care, how much love you guys have shown HOCO - so much so, it's still hard to believe. All the fanart, the fanfic, the memes - they're all saved to my phone, in their own album. Thank you to all who have made amazing creations for my silly characters, as well as the countless asks y'all have sent - maybe one day I'll be able to answer all of them.

I really hope one day I can return to this project with fresh eyes -- I'm hoping real, substantial time away from it will help that process. There are other, personal projects that I've been doing that have helped that creative spark again, as well as indulging in traditional fandom activities, mostly fanart. Unfortunately, I think it's safe to say that my time in the Yan VN community is over for the time being, at least until/if I start working on HOCO again. (Or whenever I play the latest updates of 14DWY - I am the Leon Fan Club President after all ^^).

I've been rambling too long, and I think it's time to close this chapter for now. Thank you all again - and one last Henry for the road. They were there since the beginning of HOCO in 2019, so it feels right for them to be here at the end.

What's your top 2024 yan vns of the year, and would you host like an awards ceremony for vn creators?

Had to think this one over for a bit, I haven't played many VNs that were made this year but definitely have some from the past years, I feel as I may be a bit biased though due to being friends with quite a few game devs but will try my best!

Klein V.01 (@kleinv01) is definitely high up there. I love the art and storyline, plus this is so far the only yandere visual novel to have me genuinely scared and disturbed, I love everything about it.

10:16, is one of my favorites I absolutely adore and Kat did a fantastic job on it. I could go on and on about it, the artstyle, the writing, the voice acting is just MWAH. Chefs kiss. (I know 10:16 is a 2023 game but shhhhhh)

A Double Sided Mirror as well because what I said while ago. I love yandere visual novels that really have HORROR, the subway train scene was absolutely my favorite on why it would be up there.

Colored Gaze, Mentonia, Restart Heart, 14dwy, Yanchat, Duality and a WHOLE bunch of others, I really couldn't decide! I love them all and this community!

As for the second half of your question hmmn, I would feel absolutely honored if the community decided to give ME that chance of they all decided on it! I have had a lot of experience in this community for the past two, going on three years now but I feel like I would want more like....permission to do it. I also don't want to be biased since I have so many friends in this community but if I was ever given the chance I would love to!

Hi, it’s me, a BIPOC creator ready to talk about Tom

I’m going to preface this in saying that I was really hoping that Tom would listen to the people who were genuinely disappointed in him and wanted him to do better. I want to highlight that people were expressing their own past history with right wing grooming towards racist ideologies, dog whistles, and downplaying of Black and Indigenous suffering during the peak of the situation on top of all the hurt that comes with another trans person not understanding how bad their internalized transphobia is. In light of Tom deleting his tumblr, changing the L4L twitter username and privating both that account and the main one in question….I have some points as a disappointed ex-fan that I hope extends to other communities.

First and foremost; I would like to be clear and transparent:

I was one of the POC creators that asked QLP from Florescent Red Studios to echo my feelings at the time. I work a lot, I try and vividly express this and didn’t have the energy at the time to address this despite having a lot of words that I have gratefully seen echoed through the situation as it has developed. A few of them have carried over from seeing devs being harassed from a separate situation over the past year that I have a lot of words on. If you’re the perpetrators of that event I highly suggest you apologize and work on yourselves, but that’s an issue for another time.

To be honest, I will always be disappointed in people like Tom who hide these sort of hateful views, but…sometimes I can’t say I’m not surprised. I want to give people the benefit of the doubt, because, in all honesty, I love this community we’ve built despite the drawbacks that come with making something new out of nothing and wanting to support other people. I can say for certain that a lot of us were the weird kids, and it’s more than amazing to have that safety in community, but I can’t ignore that there are some issues.

We’re still people despite being online, people who sometimes can be more busy than usual. Tone is hard to pick up on and sometimes it’s hard to fully communicate how you feel, but immediately jumping into hatred and defensive mode is never the way to go, and there should be room for open discussion when people are hurt and still trying to make space to educate others. There should be space for open discussions because we have this mediation tool that we can walk away from and come back to when we look at it objectively and not emotionally.

Tom, if you see this, I want to ask you if you actually fucking care at all about me and what a lot of people in the BIPOC community went through/are currently going through in the hands of conservatives that have groomed you into their ideology. I want to ask you if you really know about the actual fetishization we face if it isn’t straight up murder, misogyny/misogynoir, etc? Because it sounds to me like you were a tourist and I’ve strictly only been to either sides of the coast because you will never catch me in the South in this country unless I am in severely Black populated cities. And even then you’d never fucking catch me in the South.

It’s hard for me to touch on the grooming topic further because I’m a victim of multiple instances of CSA….I don’t believe in just pointing at one community, I think every community should keep themselves in check when it comes to shaming and ousting out p*dos and N*zis at the least- because again, they shouldn’t fucking be tolerated.

I will echo this sentiment: if you don’t condone what you’re writing about, you shouldn’t be condoning or perpetuating worse actions in a community full of BIPOC, disabled, marginalized, etc fans in real life.

On the note of BIPOC, please…please actually learn about our history and struggles. Whether it’s taking a history course, watching BIPOC educators….it’s something I think people should really learn about. It’s painful, it’s hard, but it’s what we have to live with everyday and don’t have the energy to remind people of all the time because of how draining it is.

I will be clear, I’m expressing my disappointment. I don’t want any harassment towards anyone, you shouldn’t be lowering yourself to that level.

But- I’m fucking tired and am urging people to do better. Please.

Like... I love this community, I love yandere vn's, but some fans are quite frankly insane and cross all kinds of boundaries. I haven't even been here that long and I've already seen news of people getting harassed and doxxed and sent racist messages, sometimes even transphobia.

✦゜ANSWERED: Despite only visiting Tumblr 2-3 times a week, I get over 10+ asks daily and almost 90 asks weekly.

60% are from people who actually take the time to read the pinned post and follow the rules (hence getting their asks answered), 20% are repeated/FAQ questions, 10% are anons asking for NSFW, 5% are people sending their reactions to my posts (I'd prefer if you left a reply on the post instead!! ;v; /nm), 3% are people mistaking me for other yan blogs, and 1% are rude anons trying to start fake drama in the indie yan VN community.

Please understand that it's only me who's managing this blog, and I can't get through everyone's questions most of the time — whether it's by repeating the same thing over and over again, searching for and linking posts where their question has already been answered, or simply because your ask got buried amongst the others.

If you'd like a better chance at me answering your questions; please, please, please read my pinned post and search this blog before you send in anything! I know it can be frustrating waiting aaaaaages for a response, but please be considerate of what I have to deal with on my end as well ;v; I don't want your question to sound lacklustre or boring, but I also don't want to repeat the same things I've said a million times and bore everyone else who's reading jggkddfkg

Also I know it's the bare minimum, but please be respectful of a person's boundaries as well.
