Ayyyy today has been a good day at the (still very) new job. Learning the ropes in any new job can be tedious/frustrating but I have plenty of experience in the industry (healthcare admin) and, if I do say so myself, really good understanding of the terminology and basic principles involved. And I pick things up really quick.
All of which is to say that today, 2 weeks and 2 days into my new job, I was booking in CT scans all on my own. 😁
Yesterday I sat and booked some cardiac CT scans with my team leader sat with me talking me through what to do. Today she asked if I wanted to do some on my own and I was like, yes please!! So she left me to do it and I went through the whole process - checking they have had a recent blood test done, phoning patients, looking through the diary for suitable dates, booking the appointment(s - cos they also need to have a plain film chest x-ray done just before the CT scan), explaining the prep for a CT angiogram (no alcohol, cigarettes or caffeine for 24 hours before the scan etc), processing and printing the letters and compiling them with the relevant documentation to be posted out.
I only went to my team leader twice to ask something and both times it was just to double check that "Okay so for this patient, xxx so I assume that means I should just yyyy" and both times she was just *thumbs up*, absolutely.
When I went to collect my letters from the printer she said I'd done really well and asked me if I had enjoyed that and I was like "YESSS!!" and she said, "We knew you'd be really good at CT" 😊
And when I was done with the CT angiograms she said if I wanted I could carry on and book some non-contrast CTs for the remaining half hour of the work day so I said YES and went ahead and looked through the waiting list and found some and got those booked too.
I am one of a total of 6 new-starters in the job (they have opened a new diagnostic centre so a lot more capacity to book into so they need more staff in the appointments centre), 5 of whom have now started work. 1 started 3 weeks before me, 1 started 1 week before me, and 2 started after me.
I am the only one so far who has been given the go ahead to start making outbound calls and booking patients in, on my own, for my assigned modality.

I want to lose it entirely over Colin's Tiktoks, buuuut...
I had a cerebral angiogram on Tuesday, and I thought it would be one incision in my groin and I'd be up and back to it the same day, and I largely was, but there was also an incision in my wrist that needed a brace and 5-7 days of inactivity. An incision, mind you, in my right wrist, the wrist I use to pilot the mouse of my computer, the hand I rely on to do all of my internetting...
So I'm watching the Tiktoks on my phone and freaking out about them on Discord, because I have that on my phone, but I do not have tumblr on my phone, because I prefer tumbling on my PC.
So Boogerbutt has managed to release three whole ass Tiktoks that my recuperating ass hasn't been able to post about properly and I'm pretty sure he did this on purpose.

You're not wrong about the couple in human error reflecting on chameron, especially that scene where the wife is getting an mri and talking to Cameron about how her husband never gives up and never loses faith and then... the zoom into Cameron's reaction? yeah, she is feeling... something.
yes 100% agree! i think human error is such a clever episode (and season finale especially) because it is…such a bait and switch. you go in expecting it to be peak foreman and house drama, and the first ten minutes or so set it up that way—and then chase gets fired and everything shifts. foreman leaves and there’s relatively no drama, few tears. in the same way that honeymoon is far more about house than it is about stacy, human error is far more about cameron and chase than it is foreman (ESPECIALLY cameron). something i really really like about this show is the way the cases tie into or parallel the character/episode arcs. and s3 in particular is REALLY good at this: foreman’s streak of getting over-invested in idealistic young people who keep choosing ‘wrong’; the war between the little girl’s parents in finding judas and the way the tritter arc makes you flip flop between rooting for house and thinking things have gone too far; even the identity play in words and deeds/house’s game of rehab telephone and how the patient’s ‘fresh start’ post-memory wipe is meant to cure him, only to be founded on false ground (just as house never had any intention of committing to rehab in the first place). the couple in human error are i think the red flashing sign telling us to pay attention and look at what’s going on with chase and cameron. it’s very, very cool, and the masochist in me wishes we’d got another cameo from them post chameron divorce just to see how far the parallel goes lol.
(side note: i’m a big fan of the episode titles in general, but this one in particular is SO good. ‘human error’ can refer to so many things: the obvious angiogram hiccup, the loss of the patient’s medical records, foreman’s decision to leave, house’s decision to fire chase, cameron’s repeated rejections of chases…i could genuinely go on and on. in a lot of ways s3 is a quieter finale—no ‘well what now??’ like 1 or 6, no ‘what the FUCK just happened’ like 4 or 7, no reality-bend like 2 or 5—but it just…makes sense. it’s a slow, inexorable build up from the season premiere and it fits together so well. when i first watched s3 i knew going in this was the last season with the og team and was actively rationing episodes and yet when i got to the finale it just all made sense. couldn’t have happened any other way. both just generally, and chase/cameron. s3 isn’t a perfect season on a micro level, but it’s a really well-connected one on a macro level, i think. it’s a real comfort watch.)

⛔️ and 🤲
Hello!!!!!!!! & thank you so much for the ask!!!!!!!!! answers below the cut because Long. And also a little discussion of NSFW fic ideas. Aough.
⛔ Do you have a fic you started, but scrapped?
Yeah Several Unfortunately. Sometimes an idea Seizes you... and then it Unseizes You. I had a bodyswap au for Beejhawk that I never finished, umm. Oh god I also started a fic where BJ finds out about Hawk's canonical pregnancy kink but I couldn't finish it because jesus christ. I mean really. I had a fic focused on Trapper at home post-war, thinking that Hawkeye had been killed in action due to a returned letter.
Also, not sure if this counts, but I had a whole scene I chopped from Nothing is Real (Nothing to Get Hung About), my fic where there's dubiously magic things going on. I loved it, but decided it didn't fit and so cut it out entirely. It lives sad and untouched in a google doc covered in virtual dust.
🤲 Would you please share a snippet of a wip?
Gladly I Love To Share
another hit of my sillyinsane modern AU, which doesn't work except when it does?????
“Directly? No. They paged you at the desk six times at least,” Hawkeye said. “I thought you left an hour ago or I would’ve woken you up. I answered the fifth page. I was in the middle of supervising an angiogram for one through four. Peg called me your work wife, by the way.”
“Jesus,” BJ said, a sharp ache taking up residence behind his eyes. “Do me a favor, write me a scrip for some Xanax or something.”
“What’s in it for me?” Hawkeye asked, only half-listening, staring down at his pager in one hand and his phone in the other. “Hey, remind me which of these can bring me a sandwich off the internet, and which tells me my patients are toast?”
“I’ll prescribe you a round of Percs. Or maybe order you a back brace,” BJ said, and slid Hawkeye’s phone out of his grasp. It was unlocked, and open to the Wikipedia page for ‘BLT.’
BJ snorted, and then failed to suppress a laugh.
“What?” Hawkeye asked him, visibly exhausted. He grinned, and then started to laugh, too. “What, what?”
“Nothing,” BJ said. He gave Hawkeye his phone back. “Let me know if you manage to precipitate a sandwich. Your methods fascinate me.”
#ask game#THANK YOU FOR THE ASK!!!! AHHH!!!!!!#would love to talk about my abandoned fics more btw because some of them were unhinged

Open Heart Surgery Doctor in Jaipur: Expert Care for Complex Heart Conditions
Open heart surgery is a critical and often life-saving procedure used to treat various heart conditions. In Jaipur, many renowned cardiac surgeons have years of experience and expertise in performing these surgeries. They combine advanced technology with compassionate care to deliver successful outcomes for patients dealing with complex heart issues. This article provides an in-depth understanding of open heart surgery, its procedures, benefits, and why finding the right open heart surgery doctor in Jaipur is essential for those who need this life-saving intervention.
Understanding Open Heart Surgery
Open heart surgery involves surgical intervention to treat issues related to the heart muscles, valves, arteries, or other components of the cardiovascular system. During the procedure, the surgeon makes an incision in the chest to access the heart, and in some cases, the heart may be temporarily stopped, allowing the surgeon to perform the necessary repairs or reconstructions with the help of a heart-lung machine that takes over the heart’s functions.
Some of the most common conditions requiring open heart surgery include:
Coronary Artery Disease (CAD): Blockages in the coronary arteries restrict blood flow to the heart, often leading to chest pain, heart attacks, and other complications. Open heart surgery, such as Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), is performed to bypass blocked arteries, restoring blood flow to the heart.
Heart Valve Disease: When one or more of the heart valves become damaged or diseased, they may need to be repaired or replaced through open heart surgery. Conditions like aortic stenosis or mitral valve regurgitation are treated using valve repair or replacement techniques.
Congenital Heart Defects: Many patients are born with heart defects, which can cause issues later in life. These defects can range from holes in the heart (atrial or ventricular septal defects) to more complex abnormalities that require surgical correction.
Aneurysms of the Aorta: An aneurysm is a bulge in the wall of the aorta, the major artery that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body. If it ruptures, it can lead to life-threatening bleeding. Open heart surgery may be required to repair or replace the affected section of the aorta.
The Open Heart Surgery Process
Open heart surgery is a complex procedure that requires thorough pre-operative planning and post-operative care. The basic steps involved include:
Pre-Surgical Assessment: Before surgery, the patient undergoes various tests like electrocardiograms (ECG), echocardiograms, chest X-rays, and angiograms to understand the extent of heart disease.
Anesthesia: General anesthesia is administered to ensure the patient remains unconscious and free of pain throughout the surgery.
Surgical Incision: The surgeon makes a large incision down the center of the chest and separates the breastbone to access the heart.
Heart-Lung Machine: In most open heart surgeries, the heart is temporarily stopped, and a heart-lung machine takes over the heart’s pumping function, ensuring blood continues to circulate through the body.
Surgical Procedure: The specific procedure, such as bypassing blocked arteries, repairing or replacing valves, or correcting defects, is performed.
Post-Surgery: After the surgery, the patient is transferred to an intensive care unit (ICU) for monitoring. Recovery may take several weeks, during which the patient is closely supervised and provided with medications to manage pain and prevent complications.
Why Jaipur is a Hub for Open Heart Surgery
Jaipur has become a key destination for high-quality open heart surgery, thanks to the presence of skilled cardiac surgeons and state-of-the-art hospitals. Here are some reasons why Jaipur is known for its expertise in heart surgery:
Experienced Surgeons: Jaipur is home to some of the best cardiac surgeons who specialize in open heart surgery. Their expertise, coupled with years of experience, ensures high success rates and safe outcomes for patients.
Advanced Medical Technology: Leading hospitals in Jaipur are equipped with cutting-edge technology, from heart-lung machines to advanced diagnostic tools, ensuring that patients receive world-class care during open heart surgery.
Affordable Care: Compared to other metropolitan cities, Jaipur offers affordable yet high-quality medical care. This is especially important for open heart surgeries, which can be financially burdensome elsewhere.
Comprehensive Post-Surgery Care: The recovery process after open heart surgery is crucial, and Jaipur’s hospitals provide comprehensive rehabilitation programs, helping patients regain their strength and return to normal life after the procedure.
Choosing the Right Open Heart Surgery Doctor in Jaipur
Selecting the right cardiac surgeon is crucial for a successful outcome. Some factors to consider include:
Expertise and Specialization: Ensure that the surgeon has extensive experience in performing open heart surgeries and specializes in the specific condition you are dealing with, whether it’s coronary artery disease or valve issues.
Hospital Affiliation: The hospital where the surgery is performed should have a dedicated cardiac care unit with advanced facilities and equipment.
Patient Reviews: Researching patient testimonials and success stories can provide insights into the surgeon’s abilities and the overall quality of care. Our services: Open Heart Surgery Doctor in Jaipur

Understanding the Cost of Angioplasty in India: A Comprehensive Guide
In today’s fast-paced world, heart diseases have become increasingly common, with angioplasty emerging as a widely used and effective treatment. However, the cost of angioplasty can be a major concern for many patients. Knowing the financial implications and understanding the factors that influence the cost can help individuals make informed decisions. In this blog post, we will explore the cost of angioplasty in India, considering the various factors that affect pricing and providing a detailed breakdown for major cities.
What is Angioplasty?
Angioplasty is a minimally invasive medical procedure designed to open blocked or narrowed coronary arteries, which supply blood to the heart. The procedure helps improve blood flow to the heart muscle, alleviating symptoms of heart disease and reducing the risk of heart attacks. During angioplasty, a small balloon is inserted and inflated at the site of the blockage to widen the artery. In many cases, a stent is placed to keep the artery open.
Due to its effectiveness and relatively quick recovery time, angioplasty has become a common procedure. However, it requires advanced medical technology and skilled expertise, both of which contribute to its overall cost.
Why is Angioplasty Needed?
Angioplasty is often recommended for patients suffering from coronary artery disease (CAD) or acute coronary syndromes. Here are some key reasons why angioplasty might be necessary:
Severe Chest Pain (Angina): Persistent chest pain that does not respond to medication.
Heart Attack: To quickly restore blood flow and minimize damage to the heart muscle.
Reduced Blood Flow: When non-invasive tests show a significant reduction in blood flow to the heart.
Failed Medication: When medications fail to manage symptoms or reduce the risk of heart disease.
Critical Artery Narrowing: Detected through diagnostic tests, indicating potential severe heart complications.
Improving Heart Function: For cases of heart failure or reduced heart function due to blocked arteries.
Factors Influencing the Cost of Angioplasty in India
Several factors can influence the cost of angioplasty in India. Understanding these factors can help patients better anticipate expenses and make informed healthcare choices.
Type of Hospital:
Private Hospitals: Generally offer advanced facilities, experienced surgeons, and comprehensive care, resulting in higher costs.
Government Hospitals: Typically provide subsidized rates but may have longer waiting times and less personalized care.
Location of the Hospital:
Urban Areas: Hospitals in metropolitan cities tend to charge more due to higher operational costs and advanced infrastructure.
Rural Areas: Costs are generally lower but with potentially fewer amenities and specialized services.
Type of Stent Used:
Drug-Eluting Stents (DES): Coated with medication to prevent re-narrowing of the artery, usually more expensive.
Bare-Metal Stents (BMS): Cheaper but with a higher risk of artery re-narrowing.
Surgeon’s Expertise:
Experienced Surgeons: Highly skilled and reputable cardiologists often charge higher fees.
Less Experienced Surgeons: May offer lower costs but with a higher risk or potentially less successful outcomes.
Pre- and Post-Operative Care:

Understanding Bypass Surgery: A Lifesaving Procedure
Introduction
In the domain of present day medication, not many techniques are as significant and life changing as bypass surgery . Otherwise called coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), this medical procedure is a typical yet complex intercession intended to further develop bloodstream to the heart. With cardiovascular infections staying the main source of death around the world, understanding a medical procedure is fundamental for anybody trying to get a handle on the complexities of heart wellbeing.
What is Bypass Surgery?
Bypass surgery is a methodology that means to reestablish a typical blood stream to a blocked coronary vein. Over the long haul, coronary conduits can become restricted or impeded because of the development of greasy stores, known as plaques. These blockages can prompt serious circumstances like angina (chest torment) or cardiovascular failures. bypass surgery includes taking a solid vein from one more piece of the body — frequently the leg, arm, or chest — and joining it onto the hindered corridor. This new entry permits blood to stream around the block, providing the heart muscle with the oxygen-rich blood it requirements to appropriately work.
Why is Bypass Surgery Needed?
The need for bypass surgery emerges when coronary courses are fundamentally impeded, and different therapies, for example, way of life changes, prescriptions, or less intrusive systems like angioplasty, are lacking. Side effects that could show the requirement for bypass surgery include:
Persistent chest pain (angina)
Shortness of breath
Severe fatigue
High risk of heart attack
The Procedure: Step-by-Step
Preparation: Before medical procedure, patients go through exhaustive clinical assessments, including blood tests, electrocardiograms (ECGs), and imaging concentrates on like angiograms to survey the seriousness and area of blood vessel blockages.
Anesthesia: The medical procedure is performed under broad sedation, guaranteeing that the patient is oblivious and torment free.
Harvesting the Graft: Specialists get a sound vein from one more piece of the body. Normal sources incorporate the saphenous vein from the leg, the outspread corridor from the arm, or the inside mammary course from the chest.
Performing the Bypass:: The heart is gotten to through a sternotomy, where the breastbone is parted and the ribcage is opened. The heart might be halted for a brief time, with its capability taken over by a heart-lung machine, or the methodology might be finished on a thumping heart, known as off-siphon, a medical procedure.
Grafting: The reaped vessel is then connected to the coronary conduit above and underneath the blockage, making another course for blood stream.
Closing the Incision: When the unions are set up and blood stream is reestablished, the heart is restarted assuming it was halted, and the chest is shut utilizing wires and stitches.
Recovery and Aftercare
Post-medical procedure, patients are normally observed in the emergency unit for a little while prior to moving to an ordinary clinic room. The all out clinic stay for the most part goes on about seven days. Recuperation at home can require a little while to a couple of months, with a great many people getting back to typical exercises in three months or less. Key parts of recuperation include:
Pain management
Gradual physical activity increase
Follow-up medical appointments
Cardiac rehabilitation programs
Risks and Complications
As with any major surgery, bypass surgery carries risks. Potential complications include:
Infection
Bleeding
Heart attack
Stroke
Memory loss or cognitive issues
Conclusion:
Bypass surgery is a lifesaving methodology for some people with serious coronary course illness. Figuring out the interaction, from planning through recuperation, can assist with demystifying the strategy and underscore the significance of heart wellbeing. For those confronting the possibility of bypass surgery , information and planning are vital to exploring this excursion with certainty and expectation for a better future.

Understanding Angioplasty: A Step-by-Step Journey from Blockage to Recovery
Angioplasty, a medical marvel of modern science, is a procedure that opens blocked or narrowed arteries, restoring blood flow to the heart muscle. If you or someone you know is preparing for this intervention, understanding the journey from pre-procedure preparation to post-procedure recovery can alleviate fears and uncertainties.
Join us as we embark on a comprehensive exploration of the angioplasty procedure, step by step.
Preparation: The Journey Begins Before the procedure commences, thorough preparation is key. Patients typically undergo a series of pre-procedural evaluations, including blood tests, electrocardiograms (ECG), and possibly imaging scans like angiograms. These assessments provide valuable insights into the condition of the arteries and guide the medical team in planning the intervention.
Arrival at the Hospital: Setting the Stage On the day of the procedure, patients arrive at the hospital and are greeted by a team of skilled medical professionals dedicated to their care. After completing necessary paperwork and consenting to the procedure, patients are prepped for the angioplasty in a designated pre-operative area. Here, they receive instructions, have vital signs monitored, and are prepped for anesthesia administration.
Anesthesia: Drifting into Comfort Once in the angiography suite, patients are administered local anesthesia to numb the area where the catheter will be inserted. In some cases, mild sedation may also be provided to help patients relax during the procedure. While fully conscious, patients typically feel minimal discomfort or pain due to the anesthesia.
Catheter Insertion: Navigating the Arterial Pathway With the patient comfortably positioned, the interventional cardiologist begins the procedure by inserting a thin, flexible tube called a catheter into a blood vessel, usually in the groin or wrist. Guided by fluoroscopy, a type of real-time X-ray imaging, the catheter is carefully threaded through the arterial pathway until it reaches the blocked or narrowed area of the coronary artery.
Angiography: Visualizing the Blockage Once the catheter is in position, contrast dye is injected through the catheter, allowing the cardiologist to visualize the arterial anatomy and pinpoint the location and severity of the blockage. This angiographic imaging provides crucial information for planning the subsequent steps of the procedure.
Balloon Inflation: Opening the Artery With the blockage identified, the next step involves inflating a tiny balloon at the tip of the catheter within the narrowed artery. This balloon inflation compresses the plaque against the arterial walls, widening the artery and restoring blood flow to the heart muscle. The duration and pressure of balloon inflation are carefully controlled to achieve optimal results.
Stent Placement: Scaffolding for Support In some cases, a metal mesh tube called a stent is inserted into the newly widened artery to provide structural support and prevent re-narrowing, known as restenosis. The stent is expanded using balloon inflation and remains permanently in place, keeping the artery open and ensuring long-term blood flow.
Recovery: Restoring Health and Vitality Following the procedure, patients are closely monitored in a recovery area for a few hours to ensure stability and assess for any complications. Once deemed safe, patients are discharged with instructions for post-procedural care and follow-up appointments.
Angioplasty is a transformative procedure that restores blood flow to the heart, alleviating symptoms and improving quality of life for countless individuals worldwide. By understanding the step-by-step journey of angioplasty, patients and their loved ones can approach the procedure with confidence and optimism, knowing they are in capable hands every step of the way.
