⛵Coal Harbor, port of Hawara⛵
Tumblr media
Hello!
I have long wanted to make a port using CC that I have hidden there. So I spent an entire afternoon letting go of my imagination, and after a while I ended up creating the port, which I named "Coal Harbor", I tried to create it with a Caribbean and summer theme 🌴.
Coal Harbor is located in a natural channel that empties into the sea. The port allows docking of various types of ships; such as tourists, cargo, boats, among others 🚢.
Tumblr media
Coal Harbor has restaurants, cafes, shops, markets that are available from morning until night, making the walk through the port pleasant and enjoyable 🌞.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the most unique moments of the port is at night, where the lights and stars make the moment in Coal Harbor special 🌟.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my post and see the images, I hope you liked it. I hope you are well and I wish you a nice day 🥰.
Until the next post 💛.

📖⛵🐑 thank you <3
there’s not enough work for my my man wojchek out there.
In This Moment, We Could Crash Together - Wojchek/Reader
Warnings: Female reader, no use of Y/N, fluff.
Wordcount: 1540
Summary: He was only with you for a short while, but maybe you could keep him if he let himself keep you.
Notes: I was going to attempt sleep again but I cannot resist my jolly sailor bold 🥰 Wojchek was the first character I actually shipped with, back when I was slowly falling in love with DD and the few roles I'd seen, so I kinda waxed poetic with this one 🥰 thank you sosososo much for sending this one right before bed, I hope you enjoy 💗💗💗
You sometimes wondered what he was like when he was out at sea on the Demeter, when he was the captain of his own ship and everyone followed his every command. You could only guess as you watched him give orders from the windows of your dockside home or from the busy street down below, everyone bustling around like ants and keeping you from getting too close. You only truly knew what he was like in moments like this, when he made port for a day or two to rest and resupply, never back for longer than a week.
The two of you were currently on your bed, his long body draped between your skirt-trapped legs as he rested in your lap, your idle hands carding through his long hair as he slept.
He was always tired when he returned home, never showing it in the early days as he courted you with all the confidence of a man who knew the sea but not love, but now that you’d been together a few years he let you see this side of himself more often, not afraid to appear weak or vulnerable in front of you anymore. It made your heart soar every time he trusted you enough to close his eyes a moment, to relax on solid ground where it made him miss the ebb and flow of the waves, the unpredictability of the sea always bringing around the uncertainty of when he’d return to you next.
He didn’t have a home of his own other than the Demeter, and before he’d met you he used to sleep on board, not wanting to waste the money on a room when it could be used for better things, the promotion to captain giving him someplace more private for the first time in years. When you’d suggested he stay with you after a few months of meeting in the alleys along the docks he’d refused at first, for to spend one night would make this feel real, permanent, a temptation to stay. You promised him then that you’d never make him choose, you could never, knowing of his first love and how you could never compare to her, your eyes barely holding in your tears as he’d then lifted your hands to his lips and pressed soft kisses to your knuckles as he told you that the sea wasn’t his only love anymore.
He had no possessions to leave with you, nor any guarantees that he would return sooner than a month, if at all, most of the time, the two of you just needing to trust that he knew what he was doing and that his crew would help him finish the voyage. When he left and you were alone in your flat once more there were never any traces of him there to remind you of him, nothing but the memory of seeing him in all the places he no longer was. Over time it became painful to watch him walk out your door so you’d started standing on the docks just to be able to hold him for a few seconds longer, and each time you parted you felt like he was talking a part of you with him as you watched the Demeter sail away until it was nothing more than a speck on the horizon.
Neither of you spoke openly of love after that first time, but you knew deep in your heart that you were in love with him every time he returned back to you, arms open and waiting for you to rush back to him before time could tear you apart again.
He stirred but didn’t wake as you brushed the backs of your fingers tenderly over his cheek, feeling the rough stubble and wishing you could kiss him, but to attempt to do so would disturb him and that was the last thing you wanted. He usually dreamed so fitfully when he was on land but today he was calm, the two of you choosing this location since your old couch was too small for him to stretch out on even by himself, and as soon as you’d pulled him down to situate himself he’d almost instantly fallen asleep. It must’ve been a rough voyage for him to be this exhausted, chest rising and falling under his hands as they rested over his torso, the sight almost hypnotizingly rhythmic as you watched him.
Eventually you did have to wake him, though, your stomach grumbling against your will and rousing him from sleep before you could give him just a few more minutes. The sun had set a while ago now, the warm breeze carried from the water growing cold and making you shiver but he hadn’t noticed, used to it after so many years. He looked around before his eyes became adjusted to the dark, you weren’t able to light any candles with him laying on you after all, his head falling back against your stomach as he remembered where he was.
He mumbled something in his native language as he watched you, a small smile on your lips as you brushed your hair out of your eye in embarrassment. ‘I don’t understand,’ you admitted, his hand reaching up to caress you the same way you’d done to him.
‘I said, “you’re so beautiful,”’ he repeated in English, your cheeks flushing at the sudden sentimentality. It wouldn’t be proper to tell him how beautiful you thought he was in return, even though it was true, settling for handsome as you leaned forward until you could press a kiss to his forehead; you were stopped from sitting back up as his hand then found the back of your neck, keeping you close long enough to give you the kiss you’d been wanting, like he’d been able to hear your desires even in his sleep. ‘We make way for Barcelona tomorrow,’ he reminded you even more suddenly than his sentimentality, your faces still so close that you couldn’t even attempt to hide how you felt from him.
‘It’s so far…’ You hated the jobs that brought him away from you for more than a month, several weeks needed to get there, let alone return.
‘You promised to never make me choose,’ he reminded you, voice low but not upset, and you tucked your hair behind your ear as you sat back against your pillows.
‘I won’t,’ you reassured him, but still he pushed himself up to sit and look at you.
‘It won’t be as long as last time,’ he said, already knowing down to the day how long it would take, the markings of a great captain. It filled you with pride to think about it but still you wished you could go with him just once, just so the wait wouldn’t have to feel like an eternity. You could never share that secret desire though, it would be too much to ask for from him, so you can only look away, stay silent. He shifted himself over your leg so he could crawl up to the pillows, now laying beside you as you were the one to be lowered against his chest, his arms, toned and tanned from many years of rising in the ranks until he was where he was now, wrapping around you and reminding you that he was still there, he wasn’t leaving just yet.
His hands were rough from a lifetime of labour but they still touched your cheek so softly it felt like an ocean breeze, his breathing calm as you gave in, got comfortable against him, your hunger forgotten as you mesh together effortlessly. You played with one of the holes in his shirt as he brushed your hair out of your face, mirroring you without realizing in a way that only a lover can, and when you try to hold his hand he brings it up to his lips, kisses each knuckle before hesitating on your bare ring finger.
Your hands found a place on his lap, his thumb running over the space and drawing your attention to it, the topic of the future just as elusive as the one of love in the days you were able to spend together, that silence finally broken as he laced his fingers together with yours. ‘When we leave tomorrow, do not follow me to say goodbye,’ he whispered, your heart aching as your body started to tremble. ‘Do not say goodbye, but come with me, let me introduce you to my second love.’
‘I thought I was your second,’ you blurted out before you could stop yourself, and he smiled with the shine of the sun in his eyes as he tilted your head up towards his own. ‘What about the crew?’
‘If they have a problem with you, I’ll throw them over myself,’ he promised, his expression making you feel like you could believe in him, in this. ‘Kocham cię,’ he then told you gently, your eyes closing even though you didn’t understand.
‘What does that mean?’ you asked, his lips just a breath out of reach before he closed the final gap, the translation still on his tongue as he kissed you.
‘I love you.’

🌊 sailor!Elliott AU: General Overworld and Characterization ⛵
an AU inspired by "Letters from the Atlantic" by The Arcadian Wild
content warnings: briefest mentions of heartbreak and divorce
Slight spoilers for the Proposal and Marriage section, only because Elliott's length of stay in Pelican Town is dependent on the number of hearts he has with the farmer.
Tumblr media
This life's a vapor that quickly escapes My love, my hate, my memory will soon be erased So let's breathe in this vapor and drink this sea dry To do and dare greatly 'til our last day arrives. A man must always have something to conquer a lover to fight for, a war to be waged We are born for the storm, we risk all and rebuild. To live hard and die well is why we were made.
-- "The Storm" by The Arcadian Wild
Tumblr media
Starting Summer 23, the countdown clock begins. Elliott will finish his boat on Summer 3 of Year 2, and, unless you give him reason to stay, he will 🎵sail, sail, sail away, my dear...🎶
Unless any of the conditions below are met, he will only return to Pelican Town for a day on either side of the holidays, making it much more difficult to build approval with him.
Conditions that make him stay on Summer 3, Year 2:
6 hearts or above: If you have 6 hearts with Elliott, he will stay through Autumn 8, Year 2.
8 hearts (no bouquet): Elliott will remain in Pelican Town until Spring 2, Year 3
8-10 hearts (bouquet, no Mermaid Pendant, no second 10heart scene): Elliott will remain in Pelican Town until Summer 15, Year 3, at which point he will express love for you but that he can't keep holding on forever. He says he misses the sea, but he recognizes you can't leave the farm, so it seems you're at an impasse. He asks you what you think would be best. You have the option to break things off with him (reducing him to 8 hearts), or plead him to stay. If you break up with him, he'll admit he's heartbroken, but not surprised. He thanks you for some lovely memories, anyway, and says he'll set off in the morning. Elliott sails away the next day and only returns around holidays. If you plead him to stay, he'll grant you until the end of summer, citing avoiding the storms anyway. During this time, you have the opportunity to activate his second 10heart scene. If you activate his second 10heart scene, he'll propose to you on Summer 30. If you do not activate his second 10heart scene within that time, this conversation will repeat on Autumn 1, and if you try to ask him to stay again, he'll become upset and will drop down to 4 hearts and act with the divorced status. He'll set sail the next day and will return around holidays starting in Year 4.
10 hearts (no Mermaid Pendant, second 10heart scene viewed): Elliott will remain in Pelican Town, and will propose to you on Summer 30 of Year 3 (if you do not propose to him first).
General Overworld Characteristics Notes:
The main arc of sailor!Elliott's story, instead of finishing a novel, is fixing his boat and reclaiming the loss of his books of poetry to the sea (his "first love").
Sailor!Elliott's writing tends to focus almost entirely on poetry, though he'll talk about a hypothetical novel when people ask him about his writing and he doesn't feel that they'll respect or understand if he answers that he writes books of poetry.
He's actually a bit guarded about his poetry, which is a huge difference from SDV!Elliott. He's been through many ports and many experiences of less than tepid receptions to labeling himself as a poet, and as someone for whom first impressions are paramount (since it's often all he has), he leans into his identity as a sailor first, and a writer second. A writer of what? Oh, it depends on who he's talking to and if they pass the vibe check...
speaking of poetry, his style is similar to SDV!Elliott except he incorporates more spoken word/shanty stylisms due to having plenty of time to recite them out loud.
Sailor!Elliott has arguably more bravado than SDV!Elliott, primarily as a cover for some relational insecurities and a desire for closeness. It's difficult to become close to people when you're not around for long, and being by yourself on the open seas doesn't give a lot of practice for social skills, so sailor!Elliott tries to use bravado to get past the superficial as quickly as possible. It does not always work for him, but it aligns with his self-image and who he wants to be, so he's learned how to somewhat-gracefully back away too. Usually it just means leaving the port, but he hasn't entirely forgotten the manners his privileged upbringing begot him.
So, ofc, he still talks Like That. Most of his dialogue lines could remain, but any that explicitly refer to his own writing may either need to be redirected to sailing, the sea, his boat, or could remain IF it's either 1.) about "his novel" at low approval or 2.) about poetry at high approval.
Sailor!Elliott compartmentalizes a little more than SDV!Elliott. He is a little more emotionally composed and reserved with two exceptions--when drunk, and when at the beach/on the sea. (see below) His time on the sea has also sharpened his ability to think and work under pressure without spiraling... at least in the heat of the moment.
While still prim and proper around town, the moment he gets to the beach aLL SHIRTS ARE OFF. ALWAYS. He just loves being as close to the sun and the sea as possible. Poor ginger has a masochistic relationship with the sun.
His inhibitions fly off with his shirt. This means he's as open and brash with his emotions, highs and lows, as the sea (when shirtless by/on the sea). He'll take someone by the hands and dance for joy, he'll fall on his knees and openly weep, and he'll also growl, snarl, and curse in anger (though he despises himself when he loses his temper, which… doesn't help buddy!). (TBF, he'd still take someone by the hands and dance for joy while in town, but it's like the difference of a structured, ballroom dance vs. a jaunty little jig on the beach.)
With the physical nature of sailing, too, sailor!Elliott is much more comfortable with physical labor. Get to part 2 of his 10 heart scene and he'll show you just how comfortable he makes some physical labor look……..
Sailor!Elliott keeps a fairly similar schedule to SDV!Elliott, though any time he isn't in the library or writing in his cabin, he's at the beach working on his boat or consulting with Robin about his boat. So that said, he does spend a fair bit more time with Robin, and they likely become good friends. (HC your own way with how that impacts his relationship with Maru, Sebastian, and Demetrius!)
His relationship with Leah is probably much more meaningful to him, given that she is one he can openly wax poetic with. They wouldn't end up together, though (or if they tried it'd just end horribly for both of them), because wlw/mlm solidarity supremacy because Leah's too stubborn about being with the land, and Elliott's far too impassioned about the sea, and neither of them are willing to compromise. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ (What makes the farmer's situation different? Get to the second part of sailor! Elliott's 10heart scene to find out.......)
he still likes to ballroom dance and you can rip that from my cold dead hands. I mean, just imagine--a romantic dance on the beach under the moon, barefoot in the sand?! Learning to rock and rumba to the rhythm of the sea?!! A waltz to the beat of the waves?!??! Be still my beating heart... 💓

A little F1 AU?
---
Henry leans against the railing on the lower deck. He looks down at the dark water and watches the lights dance across it.
It’s past midnight, but Port Hercule is wide awake. Yachts packed in like sardines in a tin, music blasting, beats and lyrics mixing together and creating a jumbled mess of noise. People are talking and singing in French, English, German, and Italian, and there’s a splash as something or someone hits the water, followed by raucous laughter. The smell of burnt rubber, high-octane fuel, and grease still lingers in the air, mixing with the heavy scent of cigar smoke and gunpowder from celebratory post-race fireworks.
Henry would rather be anywhere else, like behind a door that locks. Without people knocking for autographs or photos. Without women offering things he’s never been interested in.
He wants to go home to his little cottage on the outskirts of London, where there’s plenty of room for David to run and no cameras, reporters, or team principals.
He just needs a moment of peace, and the little bubble he’s created here will have to do.
“Henry…”
Henry closes his eyes as the bubble bursts, and Alex’s footsteps echo down the stairs.
“Someone said you went this way,” Alex says as he steps onto the deck, an entire bottle of champagne in his hand.
He’s in a suit, jacket on but shirt unbuttoned nearly halfway down his chest. Henry’s seen him in this fit more than in his fireproofs.
The suit is high-end, of course, and every designer is clamoring to dress him. He’s been on the cover of more fashion magazines than Henry can count. They’ve been popping up in his caravan, and he has a sneaking suspicion that Bea is to blame.
“Remind me to have that person fired,” Henry says dryly.
“You can’t fire Cash,” Alex says. “I’d be sad.”
“God forbid.”
Alex laughs, loose and easy, drunk and happy.
That’s the whole point, that Alex is happy.
Alex is everything Mercedes wanted Henry to be. Alex fills in the gaps where Henry fell short.
Henry wants to race; that’s all he’s ever wanted, but Alex is here to perform.
Alex is vibrant and outgoing. He’s good on camera and in interviews. He is intelligent and funny, with zero reservations about letting everyone know it. He brings attention and new viewers to the sport, dating this hot, young starlet or that rising pop star.
F1 sponsors want to pay him, men and women want to be with him, and Henry…Henry just wants him.
“Why aren’t you celebrating?” Alex asks.
“I don’t know exactly what there is for me to celebrate.”
“Umm, hello,” Alex says, gesturing to himself with his free hand.
Above all else, Alex is good at racing, having come in first or at least on pole in the last five out of seven races.
“Congratulations to you on your win,” Henry says as Alex takes a long swig from the bottle, tipping his head back as it spills down his chin and neck.
Henry’s knuckles go white on the railing. “But you’ll have to forgive me for not wanting to celebrate my own performance.”
“Okay, first of all,” Alex says, pressing the bottle into Henry’s hand and gesturing for him to drink. “We’re a team, so my win is your win—don’t fucking roll your eyes at me—and P6 is nothing to get upset about. You’re in points. That matters.”
“You should tell my brother that.”
“I will. Is he here?”
Henry snorts. “This isn’t exactly my brother’s type of party. It’s not really my type of party, either.”
“Do you mean a fun one?”
“I’m fun,” Henry says as he playfully shoves at Alex’s shoulder. “I am, but this isn’t me.”
“It’s not me either,” Alex says, and Henry laughs. “Why is that funny?”
“Because it’s such a lie. You’re made for this.”
“No, I’m just good at acting like I am. This isn’t me. This isn’t how I was raised–yachts, champagne, and women hanging off of me constantly, only using me for a photo op.”
Henry wants to argue that that’s not him either, especially that last bit, but his father’s legacy looms too large, and Henry knows his privilege.
“Well, I must say you’ve caught on very quickly. And I wasn’t raised on a yacht. It was a thirty-foot schooner.”
Alex laughs. “Yeah, that makes sense.”
Henry’s fingers tap against the bottle as he pulls up fond memories of off-seasons spent out on the sailboat with his family. “My father taught me to sail when I was very young.”
“Was that before or after he taught you how to drive? Or was that just in your genes?”
“He taught me,” Henry says softly, pushing those memories back.
Alex nods and doesn’t push. “Do you still have the boat?”
“Yes,” Henry says. “Docked at St. Katherine.”
“You should take me out sometime,” Alex says, soft and eyes locked on Henry, and Henry nearly drops the champagne bottle.
“If you’d like,” he says, voice barely a whisper, but the way Alex’s gaze drops to his lip lets Henry know he’s heard.

what are some underrated boats that you dont think get enough love or appreciation and why?
sincerely,
#1 sailboat fan ⛵
For me, I'd say White Star Lines SS Germanic. She was 455 feet long and 5,008 Gross Registered Tons. She was delivered to the White Star Line in 1875 as the sister of the SS Britannic. These ships were largely considered to be a scaled up version of the Oceanic class from 1870, but her career is what makes her interesting to me. She had 1 propeller powered by compound steam engines, and a service speed of 16 knots (30 km/h, or 18 mph). At this speed, she and her sister won back the Blue Ribband for the White Star Line. Like the Oceanic class, she was rigged as a barque with sails in case of emergency, which came in handy when in January of 1883 her propeller shaft sheared at sea, and she had to make the rest of the journey by sail. She was the last White Star liner to be constructed primarily out of iron. After her, all of their ships were made from steel. In April of 1885, she encountered a rogue wave, which struck her and caused substantial damage. Six lifeboats had been torn away, the skylights to her engine rooms were smashed, and her pilot house was crushed. Water flooded into the boiler and engine rooms, a hole was torn into the side of the reading room, which quickly flooded (followed by the saloon and staterooms), and 13 people were injured, with one sailor being washed overboard. On 13th of February 1899, she was caught in a massive blizzard at her pier in New York. An estimated 1,800 Tons of snow and ice fell atop her superstructure. This added weight was enough to make her list enough that water could enter her open Coaling ports. She sank at her pier. She was refloated, repaired, and resumed service three months later. Starting around 1904, she changed hands numerous times, until finally landing in the Ottoman empire, and being renamed Gul Djemal / Gülcemal. She served as a troop transport until 1920, when she became a passenger ship again. She was retired from service in 1937, but wasn't scrapped until 1950. There were plans to convert her into a floating hotel (like the Queen Mary would be in 1970) but this never came to fruition. Having been in service for 75 years, she is the second longest serving ocean liner, behind Cunard Line's SS Parthia. She survived both World Wars (even though she played no part in the second World War). Her sister ship Britannic was scrapped in 1904, after serving in the Second Boer War as a troop ship.

A Clash of Kings - 58 DAVOS III (pages 740-755)
The Battle of the Blackwater - Davos edition.
-
Across the sea warhorns boomed, deep throaty moans-
"GRRM stop leaving mines in the text that make me think I'm reading porn" challenge 2023. ... yes I could stop getting distracted and refocusing on the text in the wrong spot, but... yeah no, like zero focus tonight. Oh Westeros' Number 1 Father of All Time Davos Seaworth, you don't deserve my inattention in this trying time.
... I'm probably biased from knowing Davos from the show and the inherent POV bias of the chapter, but this Ser Imry guy sound a bit overly sure of himself. Too confident in his victory.
It's good to know your destination, to keep your eyes on the prize, but if you don't check where you're walking... well, that's how you end tripping and lying face down in the dirt.
Beyond the line of warships, Davos could see the Red Keep up on Aegon's High Hill, dark against the lemon sky, with the mouth of the Rush opening out below.
🍋=🥛 Shhhh, it counts.
Davos tasted a trap, yet he saw no sign of any foes sweeping in behind them, only the great fleet of Stannis Baratheon in their ordered ranks, stretching back to the watery horizon. Will they raise the chain and cut us in two? He could not see what good that would serve. The ships left out in the Bay could still land men north of the city; a slower crossing, but safer.
Oh, my dear, the boom chain isn't meant to keep you out, it's meant to keep you in. 🏰🏖️🔥⛵🔥⛓️🌊 Kill Zone~
Please stay out of it.
Directly ahead, Davos saw the enemy's Kingslander drive between Faithful and Scepter. The former slid her starboard oars out of the way before impact, but Scepter's portside oars snapped like so much kindling as Kingslander raked along her side. "Loose," Davos commanded, and his bowmen sent a withering rain of shafts across the water. He saw Kingslander's captain fall, and tried to recall the man's name.
I like the way this fight is done, just from a writing stand point, we're close camera POV again, Davos is isn't seeing everything so we aren't seeing everything, just what's relevant to Davos, but we're still aware of the bigger battle. And then, despite how impersonal it is, tracking ships and not men, the line about trying to remember the captain's name to remind the viewers, these aren't just unmanned vehicles, this is a lot of people dying per ship.
There's that nice, subtle "oh hey have you seen the horrors?" layer tucked in without dragging us through all the visceral gore.
Hmm, me? salty about a series that thinks the only way to show the horror of war and violence is by the number of blood packets? pfff, what gave you that idea.
D&D suck at their job = 🥛
... Now we're getting a little more graphic. "Forty years at sea, and yet this was the first time he'd rammed another ship." But it still feels more about the emotional weight than the shock value. I know these are the kinds of things that you can't one-to-one translate on the screen, but still.
A flash of green caught his eye, ahead and off to port, a nest of writhing emerald serpents rose burning and hissing from the stern of Queen Alysanne. An instant later Davos heard the dread cry of "Wildfire!"
Wildfire sounds absolutely terrifying to be honest. I wouldn't be surprised to learn you could jump in the sea all the way to the ocean or river floor and still be burning.
"They'll soon run out." Oh Imry, you absolute dumbass.
... oh no. That's not a desperate hunk of driftwood, that's barrels leaking wildfire into the river, I've seen this episode, turn your boat and GTFO!
... it would be a bit ironically hilarious, how very on fire this river battle is with the burning boats, but I am unfortunately well aware that things are about to be "more on fire."
It was Swordfish, her two banks of oars lifting and falling. She had never brought down her mast, and some burning pitch had caught in her rigging. The flames spread as Davos watched, creeping out over ropes and sails until she trailed a head of yellow flames. (...) Directly ahead, drifting towards her and swinging around to present a nice tempting plump target, was one of the Lannister hulks, floating low in the water. Slow green blood was leaking between her boards. When he saw that, Davos Seaworth's heart stopped beating.
Mine too buddy. Like, I know what's happening, what's coming, but my gosh the vibes! It's like seeing it again for the first time... maybe because it's from a steadier lens, a different focus, just. !!!
huh. haha. Sorry, the narrative just changed "Swordfish" to "the Swordfish" twice. I read somewhere once, that ship names don't have the "the" put in them until they're decommissioned. Now, I don't know if that's true, or if it's only for certain ships like military vessels, but given that Swordfish is about to be... violently decommissioned, it was a little funny. Unfortunate gallows humour. I apologise.
Fifty feet high, a swirling demon of green flame danced upon the river. It had a dozen hands, in each a whip, and whatever they touched burst into fire. (...) the demon was eating its own. Lord Velaryon's Pride of Driftmark was trying to turn, but the demon ran a lazy green finger across her silvery oars, and they flared up like so many tapers. For an instant she seemed to be stroking the river with two banks of long bright torches. The current had him in its teeth by then, spinning him around and around. He kicked to avoid a floating patch of wildfire. My sons, Davos thought, but there was no way to look for them amidst the roaring chaos.
Oh god, his boys. I can proudly say, I am only crying a little. Fuck, that escalated quickly.
And then the current turned him about again, and Davos saw what awaited him downstream. The chain. Gods save us, they've raised the chain. Where the river broadened out into Blackwater Bay, the boom stretched taut, a bare two or three fee above the water. Already a dozen galleys had crashed into it, and the current was pushing others against them. Almost all were aflame, and the rest soon would be. (...) the mouth of the Blackwater Rush had turned into the mouth of hell.
... that's a lot less funny at this end of the chapter. Like, there's some level of horror for the show, but this, really being in the mental car with Davos, really being a passenger, it's an entirely different level of devastation, both the actual in story toll and emotionally as a reader.
And tomorrow is Tyrion's fight on the wall/banks. shit.
This is, I think, the first time a fight has been focused for more than one chapter, and it gets three. Sansa | Davos | Tyrion. I know Tyrion is technically in the Victor role, but I feel like it's going to be as horrible as these last two for emotional toll.
