Well our leading lady will not be breathing this season, that's for sure. Episode Three's synopsis has been shared, and I am absolutely terrified for her and her plight. It seems as though everything is going to be stacked up against her this season.

But, despite this heartbreaking synopsis, I am THRILLED that Helen’s family and institutionalisation backstory is going to be given the proper light of day this season. In Season One, Dale's backstory was given more depth and time, to the point where it felt as though Helen was somewhat an afterthought in Episodes Five and Six, despite being his equal lead. We really didn't learn much new about her in those final episodes, except that she had cousins in Kyiv and Estonia. Oh, and that she dressed up as a bon bon for the News At Six Christmas card. I'd argue that we learnt more about Geoff and Evelyn and Lindsay overall in those final episodes than we did about the woman who is meant to be the lead 🙄

Now, of course Dale's story should be shared as he is the lead too and his story is so important in relation to discussions of identity and sexuality, repression and grief. But at the same time, Helen’s story is equally important too. You can't have this show without her, without her VITAL perspective, and I found to a degree there was a lot to her that was still a mystery in Season One, whereas there was more clarity to Dale in relation to how he had become the man he was in 1986. To have all this focus on her this season and having her family story and teenage trauma put front and centre is so reassuring to see, and it will give her the chance to have her side of the story told properly, so that we know how she had become the woman she was in 1987. I can't WAIT for it. 💖

A new Olena interview!

Mostly about her work with some interesting informations and background stuff.

Some private questions at the end but not really anything new.

Asked again about how Ze (and his character) changed during the war. Olena says she can't really give an answer to that because you can only assess any change after the war. But some of his character traits (that were already there) have come out more / are now stronger / sharper. Like he is now more stubborn (probably meant as in persistent) and determined.

Also no, she does not know more than the public, adding she wants it to end (like everyone else; it's a bit unclear what she is refering to - a second term? the war? the separation?)

Ze has become more emotional / sentimental about the things close to his heart / that are important to him as a person, especially family topics (communication with his family, with his kids, ...). He is now appreaciating that very much. You can now cheer him up (and he will get really emotional) with any little thing, like when Olena talks about the children (like when she tells him what the kids said) or sends him a pic of the kids. He wasn't so sensitive before the war.

In February, when the war started, she was on her way to the kids room to wake them and tell them what happened, wondering how and what she should tell them, that they have to pack the emergency suitcases. Oleksandra was already awake and had no questions, knew what happened. Kyrylo was confused and Olena tried to distract him and engaging him (them) in everything they now had to do. For Kyrylo the distraction worked for the first day.

Olena understands that it is a great honour for other First Ladies to be the "first advisor" to their President (like Jill Biden). But she is not Ze's advisor at all. She jokes that a good husband, of course, always will say that the wife is the most important advisor and she is sure Ze would say the same. But he is the President and it's not her place to tell him anything or advise him with anything.

When I played Duskwood for the first time, I've already seen a spoiler that Richy was the MWAF, and when I saw this moment, I was convinced that he just wanted to distract us from our investigation.

But now that I'm replaying it knowing all the truth, I just suddenly thought that he knew that no matter if his plan was gonna work or not, he'd be in jail either way, so it could be (and it was😢) the last time when he could just spend some time with his friends and just play something funny and silly together like everything was fine and nothing ever happened... and now this thought is killing me😭

Really rough week at work this week, Monday we had an engineer out to fix a till he was there for most of the day. At about 5 one of my colleagues came up to me (I'm manager) crying because this cunt had just gone on a massive homophobic rant at her including saying that gays caused the downfall of the roman empire and they should be stoned to death like in the bible. Like WTAF. I rang his supervisor and said he was under no circumstances to set foot back in my store, they sorted a different engineer to come and said they would investigate him.

Found out today he's been sacked 🥳
