Just saw a tumblr post in a YouTube short and the last thing it said truly fits my experience with endos.

As someone who was raised to believe that putting 110% into everything was what was expected of me, this was a very freeing lesson to learn and I'm still in the process of learning it.

Going out with friends could be ruined before it even began because I have to shower, pick out clothes that might involve doing laundry, brush my hair and teeth, wash my face, pick out jewelry, and drive. Nothing to hard to do but in the moment doing all of these things can be overwhelming and then I decide to just not go because there's too much to do and I can't even get started.

But I can remedy this by reducing the amount of things I have to do. Maybe I show up in comfy clothes, or without jewelry, maybe I wear a hat because my hair is greasy and I didn't have the energy to shower.

I'm not putting 100% into everything, but if I did I would do nothing

If you struggle with anxiety, overwhelm, or just plain feeling like a failure, I have a mantra for you that’s been really helping me out lately:

Just show up.

I used to skip class because the whole thing was so overwhelming: I had to get dressed in something clean even though I never had the energy to do laundry, walk to school, sit in class for up to three hours, plus pay attention, take notes, and participate in discussion. In reality, I was being a perfectionist, and life would have been a lot easier for me if I had Just Shown Up. By staying home because of my depression and anxiety, I wasn’t giving myself the chance to do any of that. I was such a perfectionist that being a “bad” or average student was unthinkable, so I stopped being a student at all.

If you’re having trouble getting something done, Just Show Up. You don’t have to be employee of the month. You don’t have to be valedictorian. Just Show Up.

Was hanging out with my dad and he suggested watching something. I asked if there was any gayness, and he said that he never recommended anything to me if there wasn't gayness in it.

We've had a complicated relationship, and he could've been a much better father when I was growing up, but I gotta say, I love my dad. He has done his best to understand me, and gets and accepts everything about me, including the fact that I'm poly and in the kink community. It's probably partially because he's a bisexual hippie pothead, but mainly he just loves me, and I love him for it.

As someone who calls themselves an addict (I smoke way more than I should and I recognize that I'm more dependent on marijuana then I'll tell people) this is 100% true.

I am dependent on this drug, but it hasn't affected my life much. I smoke each day before bed and I smoke a couple times throughout the day if I have the time. I can't remember the last time I didn't smoke for a day. But also I'm putting myself through college, I was looking for work (I recently got a job!), and genuinely I'm one of the most easy going people in my friend group. You won't upset me and I'm happy to help my friends with anything and help strangers when I'm able.

My brother on the other hand is a violent unlikable addict. He's the one who introduced me to weed. He screams, threatens, and intimidates people when he's angry, and he's angry a lot. He breaks things and belittles people, and has gotten physical with me multiple times. He's extremely aggressive and blames all of his problems on others. Yet claims that smoking weed is the only thing that makes him not angry. He is dependent on weed to be a basic level decent person. He's not even a good person when he's high, he barely catches the surface of decent.

And with all of that said, I wish my brother would get help more than anything in the world. I wish he realized that drugs didn't need to be the thing making him decent, that he could be a decent human being on his own. As much of a jackass as he is, as cruel or mean as any potential addict can be, they still deserve help and treatment for their addictions, and/or for their mental health.

this may sound radical but "some addicts are violent and unlikeable" can coexist with such ideas as "it's bad to act like all addicts are violent and/or unlikeable" and "even the violent addicts deserve access to a full range of options for addiction management, including harm reduction"

I just wanted to comment on a post in the syspunk tag. Why the hell do pro endos take over tags not meant for them and then stop using the tags that signify they're pro endo?

Like first off this isn't a space for you. Secondly I don't want to interact with you because what I'm gonna say is gonna piss you off, because we're in an anti-endo tag and I'm gonna share my anti-endo beliefs.

And by that point I'm probably breaking someone's DNI that they'll then be upset about, but on god how am I supposed to know when a post is in an anti-endo tag with no pro endo tags linked to it.
