this is so random I know but I just remembered TonhonChonlatee and you know, for the worst bl ever, it still has absolutely amazing side characters I love with my whole heart (hi Miriam and Pang, Ai and Ni and absolutely smashing Chon's mom)

I am kinda in awe how even with a screenplay like That Khaotung just managed to absolutely rock that role.

I'm going to be totally honest here. I don't think TonhonChonlatee deserves the hate it gets. Like you said, the queer friend group is one of the best in all of BL—possibly only second to SCOY—and the nuanced portrayals of queerness felt ahead of its time. I was surprised it won that poll a while back for worst BL at GMMTV. The humor's a bit corny, but it has a lot of heart and I would much rather rewatch TonhonChonlatee than, like, 2gether. #sorrynotsorry

But yes! Khaotung embodies Chonlatee so well. The only other actor I've ever seen be able to take an over-the-top character like that and make them sympathetic rather than annoying was Book in ABAAB. It's incredibly hard to do and I've enjoyed watching him get to experiment with comedy again in THK.

Her father is voiced by Shang Tsung. Her ex-girlfriend is voiced by Vixen. Her brother is like the only fictional character I know of that has the same first name as me. Of all the people to use the Darksaber she’s the only one we know of besides Tarre Vizsla himself to have training from a Jedi Knight. She spray-painted the main villain’s personal assassin while he was unconscious just to humiliate him. She’s the reason Wedge Antilles joined the rebellion. She defeated the Imperial governor of Mandalore. BOTH of them. Darth Vader deflected a blaster bolt into her face and she lived to tell the tale. She told an art historian she was smarter than him to his face and she was right. She literally created the symbol of the fucking Rebel Alliance. She’s gay, she’s asian, and she’s popular. She is truly one of the characters of all time.

(turns to reino to confirm) it was chucky's idea then we just- [...] we just thought we should wear it for the game as well"

Round 2.5 - Platyhelminthes - Cestoda

Cestoda is a class of flatworms, the most famous of which is the subclass Eucestoda, commonly referred to as “tapeworms.” The other subclass is Cestodaria, which are mainly parasites of fish and turtles.

Cestodes are parasites with complex life histories, including a stage in a definitive (main) host in which the adults grow and reproduce, often for years, and one or two intermediate stages in which the larvae develop in other hosts. Typically the adults live in the digestive tracts of vertebrates, while the larvae often live in the bodies of other animals, either vertebrates or invertebrates. Once the intermediate host is consumed by a definitive host, the cestode undergoes metamorphosis. Some cestodes are host-specific, while others are parasites of a wide variety of hosts. Some six thousand species have been described; possibly all vertebrates can host at least one species.

Tapeworms are ribbon-like as adults, with a unique body consisting of many similar units known as proglottids: essentially packets of eggs which are regularly shed into the environment to infect other organisms. They anchor themselves to the inside of the intestine of their host using their head, or scolex, which typically has hooks, suckers, or both. They have no mouth, but absorb nutrients directly from the host's gut. Cestodes are unable to synthesise lipids, which they use for reproduction, and are therefore entirely dependent on their hosts. Their neck continually produces proglottids, each one containing a reproductive tract. Mature proglottids are full of eggs, and fall off to leave the host, either passively in the feces or actively moving. Meanwhile, members of the subclass Cestodaria, the Amphilinidea and Gyrocotylidea, are wormlike but not divided into proglottids. Amphilinids have a muscular proboscis at the front end, while Gyrocotylids have a sucker or proboscis which they can pull inside or push outside at the front end, and a holdfast rosette at the posterior end. The Cestodaria have 10 larval hooks while Eucestoda have 6 larval hooks. All cestodes are hermaphrodites, with each individual having both male and female reproductive organs.

Parasite fossils are hard to come by, but recognizable clusters of cestode eggs, some with an operculum (lid) indicating that they had not hatched, one even with a developing larva, have been discovered in fossil shark coprolites dating to the Permian, some 270 million years ago. Also, the ribbon-shaped stem-Platyhelminthe Rugosusivitta orthogonia shares similarities with present-day Cestodians, and dates even further back, to the Cambrian.

Humans are subject to infection by several species of tapeworms if they eat undercooked meat such as pork (Taenia solium), beef (Taenia saginata), and fish (Diphyllobothrium), or if they live in or eat food prepared in conditions of poor hygiene (Hymenolepis or Echinococcus species). We discovered fire for a reason, y’all.

The largest cestode is the Whale Tapeworm (Tetragonoporus calyptocephalus), which can grow to over 30 m (100 ft) long!

Meanwhile, tapeworms with small hosts tend to be small. For example, Vole and Lemming Tapeworms are only 13–240 mm (0.5–9.4 in) in length, and those parasitizing Shrews only 0.8–60 mm (0.03–2.36 in) long.

The unproven concept of using tapeworms as a slimming aid has been touted since the 1900s. Yeah, humans are so obsessed with conforming to a certain shape that sometimes they’ll put worms in their body about it.

people on that child support post are talking as if patho classic daniil is great with kids and it's pathologic 2 daniil that people are getting this negative idea of him from, which got me thinking...

daniil's main characterization of how he treats kids in patho 2 comes from artemy's POV of him, which is biased against daniil due to daniil making a really dickish first impression, and is also based off of unreliable narrator accounts:

first by some kids outside of rubin's house who lead artemy to believe that daniil refused to treat poisoned children when it was actually just dying dogs, which can be followed by artemy confronting daniil himself where he continues to misunderstand the situation and assumes daniil is calling children animals, until he finally visits the kids' warehouse and learns it was just the soul-and-a-halves' pets. which, obviously it would be a nice thing to save pets from dying, but he really ISN'T a veterinarian and there's a deadly plague starting. he's doing triage.

and then another early incident with the kid in the warehouse dying of sand pest, where notkin passes along a message telling artemy not to bother trying to save him that makes him sound very dismissive ("Don't waste your time on Patches, it's over for him"). reading between the lines though, it's pretty clear that he came to that conclusion not because he doesn't want to save people from the sand pest, but because this is a seemingly incurable disease with no medical cure, and at that point he probably hasn't had the chance to test the schmowders on himself so would have no reason to believe in their effectiveness, and assesses that loading patches up with drugs will just kill him. which, he's literally correct! whether you treat him with tinctures, pills, or a whole schmowder, patches dies that night. obviously trying to treat him or at least ease his suffering is a morally good dead, but you can also see the implied basis of daniil's actions, that every second is precious in the early stages of trying to prevent a widespread outbreak, so you shouldn't waste time on a patient who ultimately can't be saved. (which fits in really well not only with his arc in both games where he comes to the conclusion that the whole town is unsalvageable, but with the bigger emphasis on time management and manipulation that his remake has been described as having. hell, maybe from daniil's POV he knows for certain that patches will die due to whatever time manipulation that's going on with him, and that spending the time on that patient allows for a larger disaster to happen elsewhere). so, the situation is framed by notkin (understandably, because he's just a kid and that's his friend dying) and artemy (because he's honestly pretty petty about daniil) as just "the bachelor is an asshole and abandoned these kids" when it's more of a genuine ethical quandary.

he's also pretty rude and dismissive in how he talks about grace to artemy later on, but again, it's pretty clear that he's not just being a hater to a 15 year old for no reason, the point he's making is that she shouldn't be left in charge of a graveyard filled with potentially bio-hazardous corpses.

all that to say, the main canon info about how he treats children in patho 2 basically comes from the fact that a lot of kids end up disliking him, because he's extremely pragmatic to the point of being heartless, but still ultimately pretty understandable in what he's trying to do (stop a plague).

meanwhile when we do get to see his POV in the marble nest, i would say the way he treats children is pretty much consistent with how he talks to them in pathologic classic -- if anything, he's a bit nicer to them? he has some fed-up, yelling sort of dialogue options to the kids, but pretty much all of those are based on being upset that they're out breaking quarantine and putting themselves at risk of death. meanwhile other dialogue options make him come off very much willing to humor them and talk to them on their level. and when another adult is much harsher about the kids being irresponsible, he defends them, with no dialogue option to agree with corporal punishment:

meanwhile in pathologic classic, i do think that on the whole daniil is pretty nice to kids and willing to go out of his way to protect or help them (to the point of risking death, such as the late game sidequest where he can agree to go take on several soldiers to keep the father of two children from being wrongly executed). but he does also have some really unkind and spiteful dialogue options, like some of what he says to clara both in his own route and hers, and on the topic of corporal punishment...
