adding on to my previous rant, another thing i do not care for is gore/injury. i can withstand it in writing but what i dont like is getting utter whiplash seeing someones brain spilling out of their skull.

the tags seem to have little meaning anymore, people just seem to throw them around willy nilly and think “oh metalheads love evilness and pain, ill tag all these bands and all these metal genres, theyre gonna love it!!” and it ends up on the dang feed.

i dont enjoy pulling up tumblr in the middle of a meal to do some light reading on what people are posting just to be hit with intestinal rupture captured in an image while im tucking into my steak pie.

if the block button was a trigger, about 10 shots would be fired per day. please use tags that are linked to what youre showing, if it has fuckall to do with the post nor the blog as a whole, dont use it because i am just about ready to throw my devices onto a motorway and let them get squashed by a 10 tonne truck.

Wednesday, September 20: Behemoth, "Amen"

For all the acclaim and popularity Behemoth accrued over the past several years, especially for The Satanist, what largely went unacknowledged was that they were basically ridiculous.  But then again, Nergal was just so committed to his howling maelstrom that everyone just went with it, and to be sure, the Polish act dominated their lane and was able to translate their fury into something that resonated outside the underground, becoming arguably the biggest death metal band of all time (such as it was).   And “Amen” was pure frantic death metal violence all the way, with the sudden orchestral groove break making it that much more absurd, albeit in an entertaining way.  Unlike, say, Kerry King, Nergal treated his disdain for organized religion as some epic battle that was sure to result in at least a few decapitations, so the grandiosity on display was so over the top that it veered into comedy before circling back to pint-swinging glorious mayhem.  It was still completely irrationally silly, but “Amen” illustrated the gale force power of Behemoth’s sound and approach.

FLAMMAE - Ordo (2023)

Hoddo looks at Ordo, the new album from Polish black metal act FLAMMAE, released on March 3rd on Planetary King Records and Ascension Records.

A well crafted and produced black metal onslaught. Retaining key elements that are true to the emphasis of the early 1990s 2nd wave. FLAMMAE conjure aggressive riffs and blast beats that will have you in a neck brace before the first track has finished. A true underground classic from start to finish. With roots in the old school and branches heading in its own refreshing direction 'Ordo' stands tall in the dark forest of Black metal.

Mech (Polish for "moss", get your Transformers outta here) is a Polish rock/metal band formed in 1977, and my dad called them "Polish Black Sabbath" once or twice and I guess he's right, because listen to this song:

I remember about its existence periodically and then I loop it until I'm sick of it because it's that good (probably better when you understand the lyrics because this band has AMAZING lyrics but the music alone drills itself into your head)

The title basically means "I drank brüderschaft with the devil" and other of their songs that fuck severly although not as much as this one but I promise you they're also really good are "Twój morderca" ("Your Murderer), "Czy to możliwe" ("Is it possible"), "Witam panie" ("Hello Mister"), "Tasmania" and "Popłoch" ("Stampede")

this has been a non-scheduled band recommendation. until next time

arthur being able to feel merlins magic whenever he uses it bc it makes him feel all warm and tingly and at first he's stumped about it and goes to morgana for advice bc hello?? merlin makes him feel weird?? and its only merlin. it only happens when he's around. it's gotta be his fault. and morgana is like "lol nerd you like him" and he's like "oh fuck" bc he has the emotional intelligence of a walnut and begins to notice the warm and fuzzy feeling grows stronger the closer merlin is and is like "welp. im screwed" and then a magic reveal later and arthur notices the feeling happens whenever merlin uses magic and he's like "oh. thank god." and finally realizes the feeling was merlin's magic, not that arthur has feelings for him. it becomes the new norm and then merlin is dressing him for the day and makes a stupid joke before ducking arthur's hand that was going to cuff his ear, he laughs and walked around behind arthur and the warm, fuzzy feeling returns and he's like "stop. no cheating." and merlin is confused and arthur's like "i can feel you using magic, idiot. remember?" and merlin is like "i'm not using magic tho" and arthur scoffs like "alright, sure, whatever you say."

THIS becomes the new norm of merlin and arthur bantering and then arthur accusing him of using magic and merlin insisting that he isn't. then finally the feeling happens when merlin is staring directly at arthur, comforting him in a moment of vulnerability, and arthur can see his eyes remain blue but he feels as he normally does when merlin uses magic. he still accuses merlin of using magic but merlin just rolls his eyes and once again insists that he isn't, arthur can literally see when he uses magic bc his eyes flash gold. did they flash gold just now? hm? did they arthur? arthur then rebuts "then why did i feel all warm and fuzzy?" and merlin blinks thrice before grinning like the cat who caught the canary. he won't tell arthur about his feelings for merlin, he'll let him flounder for a bit. it's always fun to watch him be an idiot and as much as he wants to kiss his stupid face bc finally (finally) his feelings are reciprocated, it's enough for now to know that arthur feels the same. arthur is infuriated that merlin won't tell him. merlin is highly amused at his stupid not yet boyfriend
