You know what, it's actually a miracle rumours about Colin and Penelope had never been started. Like despite the fact that no one pays attention to Pen, and even if they did no one would think for one second that a Bridgerton would pursue her.

Colin is SO familiar with her. He seeks her out to talk, he seeks her out to dance, he seeks her out to promenade. He takes her hand in front of everyone and leads her out of the room to god knows where. They duck under a big tree to hide themselves away to talk and a bunch of people watch them do that.

They even let the whole Colin inappropriately helping her find a husband thing go almost immediately.

It's wild how little regard the ton holds for Penelope. It's wild that a bit of teasing from the fuckboi brigade is the only reaction the ton has to the way Colin and Penelope act around each other.

Like they are accidentally being so obvious right in front of the ton's salad and the ton just do not notice. Colin literally has to walk onto the dancefloor mid dance and put himself between Pen and another man for society to notice that he is real weird about that Featherington girl. Wild.
