KnB future AU (kinda) where all the characters end up in the careers they wrote in middle school (or something non-basketball):
Kuroko would, of course, be an amazing kindergarten/elementary teacher. He have Nigou certified as a helper dog and would have all the best guests
Kagami would be a firefighter. Amazing, no notes
Aomine would be a policeman. He'd be one of the ones who is weirdly good with teens and trouble kids
Kise would be a model (I know he canonically wrote pilot, but I can't see him with such a regular job, and I read a fic once where he'd kind of grown to hate it, so), and I feel like he'd be the everyman's representative for the Olympics or any major sporting event. The media would be all over him - this amazing model, former member of the Generation of Miracles. And then he would watch whatever sport was being explained on that segment and ace it first try
Midorima would be a doctor. Either a specialty surgeon or a pediatrician, no in-between
Murasakibara would be a baker/pastry chef, and run an amazing bakery
Akashi would take over his father's business, hire Momoi, and end up owning half of Tokyo. Between the two of them, it would be the most above-board conglomerate ever
Riko and Hyuuga would run a sports camp with Kiyoshi for kids of all ages and backgrounds
Imayoshi would use his unique ability to take down every yakuza and gang in the area. He always asks for Aomine when he calls, and half the detectives either can't stand him or don't know what to do with him

Looking for an old fic (Kuroko no Basket)
Hi there,
Does anyone know this fic:
It's AoKuro
Aomine is a policeman. Kuroko works in a kindergarten,
Kuroko has already adopted a daughter when they meet. \\
It's all about how they form a family and ends when she leaves the country to go abroad (to play basketball if I remember correctly)

Hi again! It's been a while, how are you?? ^_^ It might be too early to send this, but I was hoping to get it in time for Aomine's bday. AoKi scenario- Ao meets Kise in another country's airport, bcoz apparently Ao was sent abroad for a 'job.' Turns out Kise was the pilot of the plane he was riding, and Kise planned it all out (arranged for Aomine's vacation leave) so they can spend his bday together. Your choice of country, somewhere romantic ahaha xD thank you
I forgot to add- since it’s future!au Aomine is already a police officer and Kise is a pilot :) don’t know if this bit of information is important, but saying it just in case :))
Hi dear! Howare you? I loved this prompt so much! Actually, I like a lot their futurealternative jobs (and I find both really hot tbh) so any future!fic iswelcomed! Really, I’m such an Aokise’s trash! Well, it’s a bit early to be abirthday ff but…I wanted you to read it! (Me and Aomine are both Leo, thismakes me so happy and it explains so many things about my character) I hopeyou’re going to like what I came up with, let me know!
I hope youhave a wonderful day!

Fucking Airports
“Mom! Mom! That man is scary!”
A terrified child pointed his finger against Aomine, who was marching down to the exit of that damn airport.
The guy gave him a glare that made both him and hismother pale and hurry away.
“Fucking airports,”
Saying that Aomine was upset was a euphemism. In thatmoment, he hated the entire world without any exception.
First of all, how did his boss dare to send him awayto work on the day of his birthday? That donut-eater fucker! Aomine reallyhoped it was an important job because otherwise he was going to use his gun onthat fat ass.
Second, Venice? Really? They sent him to Italy! To fuckingItaly! From Japan! But obviously not for a holiday, no, no. For a fucking work! And it had been a hellish flight: he had thought about using his power as apoliceman to shut up the stupid bantering old couple behind him more thanthirty times, and his gun to smash the mobile of the snobby girl beside himevery thirty second. Teenagers those days were such a pain in the ass.
Third and most important, his boyfriend was the worstperson ever. Okay, maybe now he was exaggerating but Aomine was deeplyoffended. Usually, when something didn’t go as Kise wanted, he whined, cried, pouted and became the most annoying piece of shit ever. This time, when Aomine hadtold him they couldn’t spend his birthday together, Kise’d only lookeddisappointed and sad before saying thatthen he was going to accept another job too. And he also left a day before him.Aomine felt betrayed, alright?
And that was another reason to hate airports ingeneral.
Aomine finally passed the controls and arrived in thelounge where parents and friends were waiting for their dears. His frowndeepened while looking at all the heartwarming reunions and he tried to transformall of his disappointment in anger: he managed anger better than otheremotions.
“AOMINECCHI~”
Aomine blinked. Was he becoming insane?”
“Daiki!”
Aomine whipped his head to the left, like a traineddog, and his jaw dropped. Waiting for him in his pilot uniform, Kise wasstanding with a bright smile.
Aomine was sure it was him for real: first, becauseKise was sexy as nobody else in that uniform and every time Aomine saw him wearingthat was like the first time; second, because the boy had in his hands a board withwritten “Aominecchi
Seeing that his boyfriend was frozen on his feet, eyeswide and mind blank, Kise let out a cheerful and satisfied laughter, beforesmoothly jumping the fences and happily trotting towards him.
“Happy birthday, Dai-chan!” He greeted the boy givinghim a quick peck on the lips.
Aomine blinked at the blond.
“W-wait- What? – How?” he muttered in anunintelligible mumbling that made Kise chuckle, “Why are you here?” he burst inthe end, as his boyfriend took from his hands the bags and dragged him away.
“To celebrate the best birthday ever with my belovedboyfriend,” Kise hummed happily, absentmindedly guiding him out the airport.
“You said you had to work!” Aomine accused himglaring, coming back to his senses and moving by his side.
Kise winked at him.
“I lied, sorry,” he replied giddy, stopping just togive him another kiss on the cheek.
Aomine blushed furiously and lost his words for asecond, as they resumed walking.
Then the horrible truth came to his mind.
“Well, I didn’t. I’ve to wor-“ He started to saybegrudgingly, but Kise shook his head.
“Nope, you don’t. That was a lie too.” He interruptedhim.
“What?” Aomine gasped flabbergasted.
Kise now was practically beaming.
“I bribed your boss into giving you the whole weekfree and to help me planning this surprise,” He explained excitedly, “It’s allorganized! I flew here yesterday and took permission. This is my gift for yourbirthday! We can be lovey-dovey in Venice for seven whole days! Aren’t youhappy?” Kise asked turning to look at him with shining golden eyes. He was moreexcited than he had ever been.
Aomine was so shocked he didn’t have words to reply.Kise misinterpreted his silence and his face fell, as he smiled nervously.
“I mean, I thought it was a good idea…with our workswe rarely spend time together and-“ he began rambling more and moreembarrassed, but Aomine finally snapped.
He stopped abruptly and cupped Kise’s face, pullinghim in for a deep, rough and passionate kiss. Not caring that they were inpublic, not caring that was far from pure and decent. He needed to feel him andto make him feel how happy he was. How incredibly, absurdly happy and excitedhe was.
When Aomine let him go, Kise was a blushing andstuttering mess.
“I love you so fucking much Ryouta,” Aomine breathedagainst his lips in a low growl, eyes locked.
“Y-yeah you conveyed it…” Kise laughed breathlessly, still blown up by the kiss.
Aomine relaxed and hugged him tightly, resting hishead against the blond’s shoulder.
“I was so mad about all of this,” he groaned, feelingembarrassed at his past thoughts.
Kise chuckled, playfully rocking them back and forth.
“Well, I wanted to surprise you!”
“You did,” Aomine grunted with a grin, “You definitelydid. I can’t believe you organized all of this.”
“That’s because I’m an amazing boyfriend!”
“And modest too. There I thought I could spend mybirthday in peace for once,” Aomine chuckled, but the blond ignored him. Toohappy to take his sarcasm seriously; and he knew Aomine didn’t mean a singleword of what he had just said.
“So, you’re happy with the gift?” Kise chirped again, stroking Aomine’s hair.
The boy straightened and smirked down at hisboyfriend, tilting slightly his head.
“I’m always happy when you’re part of the gift,” hereplied lowering his voice and sending shivers down Kise’ spine.
Aomine was ready to kiss again the blushing boy if ascream didn’t interrupt him.
“Mom! Mom! Those boys were kissing!”
Aomine recognized the annoying child from his planepointing at them and tried to flip him off.
“Dai-chan!” Kise scolded him, immediately grabbing hishand and shoving it down before he could traumatize the kid for the rest of hislife.
Aomine rolled his eyes and used that chance tointerlace their fingers; he took with the other hand his bags and marchedtowards the exit.
“Let’s go Kise!” he hissed scowling, but Kise laughedwarmly and rested the head against his shoulder.
“Where you want, babe. But the exit is in the otherdirection.”
“Fucking airports!”

Going through pixiv and seeing the amazing aokaga fanarts along with how good their comics are really makes me appreciate the artists and the ship even more.
Aokaga is just- So good??? You can’t see Aomine without Kagami because they are a package. It’s like the same thing as Midorima-Takao and Kuroko-Kagami. Aomine is been an idiot? Kagami is right there with him, doubling the idiotness. Kagami is doing something? Aomine is right there to challenge the hell out of him. Both of them are in the same proximity? They will start bickering but in the end, gets along really well to team up against their friends.
I just really love these two and I love them even more when they are together, doing stuffs; ranging from stupid bets/challenges to domestic bliss. I feel like Aomine will put an effort in helping Kagami and Kagami will remember even the simplest details about the other. These two act like they don’t like each other but once they are with someone else, they will gush non-stop about the other; without them realizing that they actually really do like the other a lot. (I got side-tracked 😭)
Aomine and Kagami as a pairing is so good??? They both are soft boys and what more when it has something to do with the other? All those fanarts of Aomine been a softie for his boy and literally melting whenever Kagami is mentioned or around him does things to my heart. Kagami been amused with Aomine and indulging him even if it takes time for him to prepare the meals just goes straight to my heart.
Not to mention all those policeman!Aomine x Fireman!Kagami fanarts. It’s like they are meant for each other, you know?
I know we also have official fanart where the mangaka also draw them in a different career but that also seems like a perfect setting for these two to get together as a couple. Aomine been a businessman while Kagami as a chef. Can you see the possibilities? There’s so many scenarios and ideas from this alone!
*coughs* Anyways Aokaga is such a good pairing 😭❤️

Bad cop, worse cop
HAPPY BIRTHDAY @steffelart!!! hope you had a great day! I’m sorry it’s so late orz. partially inspired by your aomomo art here  I’m sorry it’s not very good, I have been struggling with writers block orz I hope I made a break with this ficlet tho. Really want more aomomo buddy cop au 🤣
The sudden knock on the window startled Satsuki so much she almost dropped her report.
“Jesus!” She yelped which was answered by an obnoxious, familiar cackle.
Momoi glared at her partner who entered the car on the other side and held up a white box.
“Donut?”
She kept glaring.
Aomine shrugged and opened the box.
“More for me then.”
Before he could pick the pastry Momoi grabbed his wrist.
“Think really carefully.” She warned him. “If you get crumbs or icing, or jelly OR anything on the upholstery, I will have you lick it off.
“Ugh.” Aomine shook her hand off and picked a chocolate covered donut and took a big, obnoxious bite.
Satsuki gave him an unimpressed look and with a sigh got back to filling her report.
“Whatchu doin’?
“Filling out audition applications. What do you think I’m doing?”
Aomine swallowed, licked his lips and took another bite.
“Can’t you do that in the office?”
Satsuki sighed.
“I could, but I have a lot of it there too, so I thought it would be good to do some in advance while literally nothing is happening.”
Aomine sniggered.
“Workaholic.”
Momoi sighed but kept writing.
“Don’t talk with your mouth full. I’m not doing yours by the way.”
“Yeah, yeah. Whatever.”
Aomine fell silent, too engrossed with his donuts (Momoi sometimes swore he decided to be a policeman just for the donuts. The scary thing was it was probably a little true. But she didn’t want to ask.) and Satsuki could work for another twenty or so minutes.
She only stopped when she heard the door open.
“Where are you going?”
Aomine showed her the empty box.
“I need more donuts.”
“You just had ten.” She was a little horrified.
“Well I’m still hungry.”
Satsuki scoffed.
“You are useless. Don’t come to me for help when you end up in a sugar coma Dai-“
“All units in the area respond.” The radio stopped their squabble.
“This is unit 5-0-5. Copy.” Satsuki picked up the receiver immediately when she heard the announcement.
“There’s been an AMT and bank robbery at the 5th avenue. All free units requested for back up.”
“Copy. Get in.”
“Huh? What?” Aomine drawled lazily, looking bored.
Satsuki looked at him for a moment as if he grew another head.
“Because crime is happening Dai-chan, and we’re near.”
Aomine sighed.
“Fine. But I’m driving.”
Satsuki shook her head but moved to the passenger seat while Aomine started the engine.
“You’re a crappy cop you know that?” She said and almost shrieked when he started the car so suddenly it pushed her further into her seat.
“Shut up.” Daiki rolled his eyes.
Satsuki pushed the siren, making sure people would get out of the way and not mistake their police car for a stolen get away. Which, honestly wasn’t that hard considering how Aomine was driving.
And he wasn’t a bad driver, if you were looking for a Tokyo drift diver that is. For a policeman that driving was abysmal.
But maybe it was also useful, because they managed to be one of the first back up units on the scene.
Satsuki tried not to show how much her legs were shaking when she left the car and approached a group of policemen and women making the arrests to ask if they could help in any way.
Five men were already in cuffed and stuck in police cars, glaring at everything.
Satsuki shot them a brief glance, recognizing at least two of them from a local gang.
She exchanged words with the other officers and looked back to their car.
Aomine was still there, sitting and looking bored.
“Hey. Make yourself useful and go ask if they need an extra muscle.” She tugged at his arm, but Aomine shook her off.
“Nah. They have Murasakibara. If they have him, they don’t need extras.”
Satsuki scoffed.
“Fine. But I am not writing that report for you.” She scolded him. Aomine shrugged and looked ahead, chin resting over the stirring wheel.
“You’d have to explain your laziness yourself-“
“There’s one more.” Aomine cut her off.
“Huh?” Satsuki blinked.
Aomine pointed with his chin.
“There. Next to the dumpsters.”
Satsuki looked to where Aomine was pointing and with shock realized that there was a sixth member of the gang, sneaking behind the officers’ back.
She stared in shock for a moment. Everyone was focused on the safety of the bank employees and didn’t saw the thief sneaking away with a duffle bag.
But what Satsuki in that moment also realized that the thief didn’t saw them.
She assessed the situation quickly. If she called over to him, alerting the other police staff she’d be alerting him too and he’d get away before anyone else would be able to react. It looked like he was heading towards the back alley which turned to the left. If he’d manage to get there without being spotted, he’d be long gone. They could wait for him in the car if they left now but if they did, he’d hear the car and also get alerted.
Satsuki bit her lip and sighed. Fine.
“Stay here.” She told Aomine and started sneaking over to the thief. She waited for a moment and saw how he turned his back to her walking confidently, thinking he was free.
Wrong.
Satsuki pulled away from the wall and was about to grab him by the scruff of his hoodie and slam him against the wall when she heard a police siren.
She (and the thief) jumped and looked over to the source of sound.
Aomine shrugged in a non apology and then pointed to something behind Satsuki. She could read his lips.
He’s getting away.
Indeed, she saw the thief running with the duffle bag. She groaned in frustration and set off after him.
The guy jumped over the fence as if he was an acrobat but she wasn’t worse and managed to do it just as quickly. To her luck his jeans leg got stuck in some garbage and Satsuki used that to her full advantage.
She jumped from the fence right on the guys back. He went down yelling and cursing and she really hoped he didn’t break anything.
He was big and she only realized it now when he was wriggling under her angrily. She jammed a knee into his back and reached back for her handcuffs.
She felt for them but what she found was air.
Oh. Oh no.
The thief was groaning and calling her names and any moment he was about to throw her off and get loose. She was by no means weak but she was short and not very muscular. Her element of surprise would work if she immediately cuff him and drag him back to the police car.
But she didn’t have them. She didn’t have the time to wonder if she lost them now or earlier. She jammed the knee more securely into the guys back and looked frantically for something which she could used as a substitute.
Which was naïve and foolish because it wasn’t like handcuffs just laid around.
Think girl, think. Maybe she had a piece of string in her pocket.
She didn’t.
The guy was about to get free and she had no back up.
“Ekhm. Looking for this?”
Satsuki looked up at the sound of a familiar voice. Aomine stood over her nonchalantly, cuffs dangling off his finger.
She gaped at him for a moment before snatching them from his hand.
She cuffed the guy quickly and pulled him to his feet.
“You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say might be used against you.”
She warned him a made a disgusted face when he cursed at her yet again.
“Yeah, that can be used too.” Aomine supplied helpfully.
“Shut up.” She grumbled and pulled the guy back to the rest of the waiting police staff. Aomine carried the duffle bag and dumped it in the hands of the first officer.
“Not so useless, am I?”
Satsuki didn’t grace that with an answer.
She made sure that the thief was secure in the police car and she and Aomine returned to their own vehicle.
“Sooooo…” Aomine drawled. “About that report.”
Satsuki glared at him and Aomine put his hands in the defense position.
“I’m just saying…”
She was quiet for a moment.
“If I do you won’t get to eat in the car for a month.”
“What? That’s blackmail.”
Satsuki shrugged.
“I don’t mind.”
“Oi! I take it back!”
Satsuki shook her head.
“No take backs.”
“Aw man.”
She rolled her eyes at the whiny tone.
And then started the car.

[Wine & Type] Aomine proposed to his s/o. What made him make up his mind?
Hello all! Admin Momo here with my first KNB request on this blog. Aomine Daiki is the first on up. I hope you all enjoy!
Aomine Daiki was the resident man in your life. You fed him and he kept you warm at night. Every day was something different with him. Whether it was the status of his canine partner or his less than capable (in his words) captain. You were there for every case, every injury and hospital visit. You stayed at his bedside and cared for him even when he groped your butt when he dropped his soup spoon. Was that on purpose? You never asked but that flint in his eyes gave you a clue to his thoughts.
Tonight was the policeman’s ball. It gave him an excuse to look particularly dashing in a tuxedo and you in an evening gown. He gawked as you walked over to him. Every hair in place and every curve showed how much of a woman you are. You gave him the slightest of a peck after you walked over to him.
“Close your mouth, Darling. You’ll catch flies.”
“I...didn’t know you could look like that.”
“I clean up nice when I want to. Besides I’m pretty sure my palazzo pants will get me kicked out.”
“So!? It shows your sweet a-“
“I know! That’s....why I wear them for you.”
Your face and eyes showed love and slight embarrassment. Even through Daiki’s dark skin your could see a tinge if red on his cheeks.
“Let’s go before I tear that dress off you.”
“The feeling is mutual.”
Your handsome date led you into the night and to a perfect evening. You met his colleagues and heard perfect stories to embarrass your beau. He grumbled many times but, was quieted by your hand on thigh. A few gentle rubs close to jr and he was officially intrigued. Looks like someone is getting lucky tonight!
The dance floor opened up once story time was over. You tried to pull the former b-ball ace to the floor but he was insistent on his no. You looked around and noticed a handsome man alone and sway to the beat. He stuck your tongue out at the blueberry and worked your way to the other man. He was quite handsome up close. Firm build and glossy hair with a grin that won’t stop. This man is a cop? He should be a matador!
“Hey! I know this is weird but-“
“Yea I definitely want to dance with you, Beautiful.”
He took your hand and led you to the dance floor. The upbeat swing gave the handsome gentleman a reason to hold you close. His eyes told a secret only you knew. You smirked and enjoyed every step with him.
Aomine Daiki never did wear green well. He was going to throttle Roy Monday morning, but for now he watched as the two of you. He felt the weight of loss come over him like a dark cloud. Why? You were still his, but...would things always be like this? He shook his head and pondered. So many emotions for one night.
With the night over and Daiki in your arms you were at peace with everything. Daiki lifted you and went into the bedroom. He kisses turned fiery the instant he touched your lips. A night of passion with his name on your lips like an incantation created a memory worth being crafted.
The next morning you awoke to his hushed whispers. Sapphire eyes glanced at you as he hung up. He smirked and kissed your lips. His bruises and marks were trophies in his eyes. To you, there were sore love.
“I’ve been thinking...I’m going to get us breakfast.”
“I can cook something for us, Dai.”
“You rest so I can take you from behind after we eat. I need my dessert.”
With a chuckle he kissed your forehead then left the bed for the bathroom. You rolled around and looked at the time. The sun reflected light from somewhere. You say up and looked around only to see a gorgeous sapphire ring with a small panther motif on your left hand. You blinked twice before you screamed. Your blueberry boyfriend dashed from the bathroom and to your side.
“OI!? Where is it!?!”
“D-Dai...what is this!??”
You held up your hand only to see a slight red hue on his dark skin. He tossed the toothpaste and razor back into the bathroom sink. He turned to you and took your hand and kissed the backside of it. You loved this gentleman side to him. He’s rare, but so loved.
“Baby...I can’t do this without you. Before when we were first together I was fine with you hanging out with other guys. Then I caught feelings and made you mine only. I need that forever. I’m not letting you go and...if you’ll have me I will make you beam with pride to have me. So, will you be my wife?”
On one knee and in his ocean wave boxers you watched your tough cop boyfriend spill his heart. You squeezed his hand and shook your head.
“I already have pride with you on my arm, Dai. Of course I’ll be your Mrs. Aomine. I wouldn’t want anyone else.”
You saw the slight misting of his eyes before he pummeled you into a hug. He kissed you deeply then crawled back into bed with you. He sighed as looked over your perfectly imperfect body. To him, you were the only woman worth having. You ran your fingers through his hair and wiped his stray tear then yours.
“I love you, Dai.”
He nodded and leaned in for a gentle kiss. There was no way either of you left the bed and embraces. With a happy sigh Aomine Daiki was the luckiest man on earth.

Aomine gets Arrested
Akashi: *enters police department claiming he’s Aomine’s lawyer*
Policeman: But he didn’t call his lawyer.
Akashi: Well, I’m here now, and I’d like to speak to my client, so shoo.
[after officer leaves]
Aomine: Akashi, what happened, where’s Tetsu?
Akashi:*sits down* Listen, if Tetsuya came here, he’d also get arrested.
Aomine: Okay, what’s the procedure?
Akashi: How should I know, am I a lawyer?
Aomine: *facepalms*
Akashi: There’s another way... Do you know the Minister of Security?
Aomine: Uhh, no?
Akashi: It’s okay, I know him. Or knew him. Well, he was married back then. Maybe I was too... I don’t remember anything about the time around my third and fourth marriages... No word about that to Tetsuya. Capiche?
Aomine: *nods*

aomine, ushijima and kuroo hcs as a husband and father? Thankss
mori: HHHHHH STOOOPPPP!!! I’M IN LOVE!!!! i’m gonna focus more on the father part
aomine
assuming he’s retired from basketball and became a policeman instead, he’s the dad all your child’s friends are terrified of
but really, aomine’s really awkward? he often goes to their school to give presentations about being safe in the neighborhood and he doesn’t know how to do public speeches very well. no one in class really pays attention because they’re either admiring or cowering in fear from his muscles
when your child is on a date, he’ll stay up and do the ‘sit-in-the-corner-with-the-lights-off’ dad thing and makes them blow into a breathalyzer
the most suburban dad. he has his cop car, but doesn’t like to pick up his kid in it, so he drives the mom van or a regular sedan a lot. he’s also the coach of the neighborhood’s basketball team
if his kid plays something other than basketball, he’s still the competitive dad that almost always gets into fights with other dads
refuses to give your kid ‘the talk’ so he leaves it up to you
when it comes to discipling your kid, he plays the bad cop
you and him are both hard working and work long hours, so one of you does daytime hours and the other nighttime and then you both call off on the weekends so you can all spend time together
date nights are rare, but he likes to keep it simple with dinner at a restaurant and sex all night long LOL
kuroo
the “cool” dad who thinks he’s cool but only because he has killer dad and chemistry jokes
the dad that would initially try to push their kid into the science field or to play volleyball, but then ultimately will support their kid’s decision
the ultimate hype dad, especially when it comes to sports or any type of competition their kid participates in. makes big signs and brings annoying instruments to bang on
“THAT’S MY CHILD! RIGHT THERE. WE MADE THAT”
“hey kid, go out and get these for your dad” “what!? why can’t you go get it?” “BECAUSE I SAID SO, THAT’S WHY”
as a career, kuroo would probably be a teacher at a nearby high school different than his kid’s, so he’s always helpful when it comes to homework and projects since he knows the curriculum
definitely on the parent-teacher committee/volleyball coach.
the dad that all your kid’s friends want as a dad
kuroo still acts like a teenager when it comes to you. it’s like he’s still in the honeymoon stage of your relationship and still falls head over heels for you
a very teasing and playful husband - lots of pda, playful fights, laughs all around
ushijima
the dad that scares all of your kid’s dates away
ushijima has a really hard time showing affection, even to his kid, so if his kid is upset or they have a deep moment together, he’ll just playfully punch their shoulder or ruffle their hair
wouldn’t necessarily force their kid to play volleyball, but at a young age, he’d play with his kid and it just sort of happens?
too busy to coach the kid’s team, but always comes to watch, sits front row and gets very excited and anxious. at the end of every game he’ll lecture their kid what they did wrong and commend them on what they did well
the dad that only knows how to make a bomb breakfast and leaves the dishes for their kid to clean up LOL
secretly loves interior decorating, so family bonding time for your family is rearranging the living room and going to ikea
a hobbyist kind of dad - picks up on a lot of different artsy hobbies on the weekends, like photography and painting, and often reads books about them
“Who are you going on a date with? Do they play sports? What’s their blood type - no, what are their stats?”
when he gets mad at his kid, he’ll feel bad and buy a cake and make it say ‘I’m sorry I yelled at you :(’
does most of the house chores when he knows that you’re stressed out
a very loving husband ~ after being married for so many years, you know that he shows his love in different ways, like kissing your forehead, light arm touches, and cuddles on the couch

Aomine- 21 guns by Green day
》y'all i only have angsty shit in my playlist, i hope you can find it in you to forgive me for this one. mentions of death/murder in here; it’s a darker post in general so beware!
Tumblr media
Does it take your breath away? And you feel yourself suffocating?
Aomine Daiki is a policeman like no other– sure, his temerament might get in the way of his private life but his heart and mind turn cold beyond reason while he’s wearing his uniform. Which is exactly the cause of his heartbreak.
He had to make a choice; it was either you or the twenty-something people being threatened. He made a decision, with his hand steady and his gaze unwavering. But most of all, his heart heavy.
He regretted it, he regretted making the right decision and no matter how hard he tried to make himself believe that a price of one life for twenty was reasonable, it wasn’t. Aomine was as human as the next guy, so why did he have to pretend to be a soldier with the heart of ice!?
It haunted him. The memory of you falling to his feet, a smile on your face as you tried to console him, telling him how proud you were that he saved all those people. It wasn’t worth it.
Does the pain weigh out the pride? And you look for a place to hide?
One bottle. Two bottles. Three bottles. It wasn’t enough; he still remembed you. Your name, your scent, your hand in his, the weight of your limp body in his arms as he cried to heavens, begging them not to take you away. But they did. And it was his fault.
He will never forget the sorrowful looks that his colleagues directed at him; the firm, one palmed grip on his shoulder as they told him that it would get better. That it was for the greater good.
Psch. As if! You were the greatest good he has ever gotten and the greatest good he ever could have gotten!
He released a sigh. He had to take his mind off it. Off you.
Four bottles. Five bottles. The memories only became more vivid— he could neither run nor hide. His ultimate tormentor was his memory and he knew that there was no escape from it.
When you’re at the end of the road and you lost all sense of control; When your mind breaks the spirit of your soul.
“You can’t go on like this,” Kuroko tried to reason with him but Aomine refused to listen, “How much time does it have to pass before you realise that you’ve reached the bottom?”
With a grunt and a rub of his temples, Aomine rolled his eyes at the blue haired male, “I know I’ve hit the bottom, I want to dig deeper. Six feet under if needed. I don’t care for as long as I can be reunited with her.”
Before he had a chance to chug down the rest of his wine, Kuroko took the liberty to take it away from him, an evident frown present on his features.
“Enough is enough,” Kuroko’s voice was so firm that even Aomine had to take a step back and take his words into account, “I can’t make you get help, but you too know that you desperately need it. Drinking your issues away won’t get you anywhere— you know (Name) would hate to see you like this. She viewed you as a hero!”
“I killed her!” Aomine slammed his fist down, knocking the glass that Kuroko put away down to the floor. He didn’t even flinch upon it shattering. He could merely add it to the list of broken things in his life.
Your faith walks on broken glass
Kuroko took a step back, his eyes wide. Ever since you’ve been gone Aomine has never once let his anger take control.
“I killed her, I’m not a hero!” his voice switched from raw anger to a shaky, muttering mess.
“You had to make a choice!”
“I did, and I made the wrong one! I should have protected them all, I should have- I should have found a way to save them all!”
“Aomine…” Kuroko trailed off, his gaze softening, “You’re only human. Just because you should have doesn’t mean you could have. You know she wouldn’t like to see you in ruins like this. Look towards the future, or at least try to. Otherwise you’ll end up taking your own life regardless of the fact that you’ll still be breathing.”
He received no reply. He just hoped that it was because the words got through to him.
And in a way they did.
Because from then on, Aomine tried to look forward to a better tomorrow but why, oh why was yesterday the only thing on his mind?

the devil you know 4
Rating: Explicit (nothing much here)
Title: the devil you know
Chapter: 4: a taste of a poison paradise
Relationship(s): Aomine Daiki/Kagami Taiga, Kise Ryouta/Kuroko Tetsuya
Summary:
“Kagami wants to tell him no, tell him to fuck off, because there is no way in hell he’s jumping back into bed with the man who broke his heart, but suddenly, he stops, and thinks. He feels Aomine’s hot breath against his neck, feels the undeniable attraction that exists between them, and suddenly he’s tired of holding back, of trying to stop himself and repress his sexual desires just so - just so what?”
Kagami hasn't seen Aomine for a long while, not since he walked in on Aomine cheating on him with a girl, and he has no desire to renew their acquaintance any time soon. But when he's forced into going for a reunion with the GoM by Akashi, sparks fly again, and he does something he very much regrets.

It’s part of Kagami’s daily routine to drop by Murasakibara’s patisserie every day before work. It’s always marvelled him how the big man’s large hands could craft such intricate, delicate, absolutely delicious pastries and sweet treats, but he’s not going to complain. Not when Tatsuya gives him fifty-percent-off discounts on the cheeseburger-themed galettes.
After graduating high school, Murasakibara had quit competitive basketball and university altogether, and gone off to culinary school. Tatsuya had continued on with his professional career, and after a few years in LA, he’d come back to Tokyo to play for the Japan team. Kagami’s truly happy for him, yes he is, but he can’t help suppressing a twinge of bitterness at Tatsuya’s success, not when he could have had it all as well.
His knee still hurts sometimes, hurts like a bitch. But it doesn’t stop him from dropping by Atsushi’s Buns and Bakes every day before his shift to pick up a quick breakfast. It lets him see Tatsuya too, after all, since his brother usually helps out at the patisserie in the morning before the paid help arrives.
Two days after the fire, he drops by again at his usual time, slipping a thousand-yen bill across the counter and waiting for Tatsuya to wrap up the galettes for him. Tatsuya complains good-naturedly about the amount Kagami consumes, and reminds him to watch his waistline now he doesn’t exercise as frequently anymore. Kagami banters cheerfully with him, defending his belly with fierce pride at how many sit-ups he gets done in a day, and reminds Tatsuya, as he always does, that firefighting isn’t exactly a physically-relaxing job.
The huge pile of galettes is eventually crammed into a small paper bag, which Kagami takes and places between his palms to warm himself up. He shivers, and although the central heating is on in the patisserie, his breath comes out as a fluffy whorl of mist that curls upwards towards the air vents. It’s autumn now, and the days are getting shorter and colder.
Murasakibara comes out the kitchen, absent-mindedly wiping his flour-covered hands on his bright pink apron, a joke gift from Kagami a few Christmases ago. The large words on the front read “Mr Good-Lookin’ is Cookin’”, and Tatsuya had blushed a bright red when the gift had been opened, but Murasakibara had been as stoic as ever, thanking “Kaga-chin” for the lovely present and promptly proceeding to pull it over his head.
According to Tatsuya, he and the grossly pink apron have been inseparable ever since, and what has Kagami done, he ought to be ashamed of himself, etcetera, etcetera. Kagami mostly just laughs it off, because Murasakibara can pull off pink pretty well, all things considered.
The pastry chef nods at Kagami as he goes to the glass display cases and starts arranging the cakes in order of colour. Kagami shoots him a quick smile and a “What’s up, Murasakibara” before picking up his change from the counter and walking towards the door. He waves goodbye to Tatsuya as he goes.
The next day, Kagami comes back as usual, only this time Tatsuya is frowning as he wraps up his galettes.
“I swear I’ve seen Aomine fucking Daiki around the patisserie recently,” he says, and Kagami drops his wallet on the floor.
He slowly picks up all the coins before he straightens up, thinking about what to say. In the end, he decides to go with ‘complete ignorance’, and cocks an eyebrow.
“Eh, ah, so?” he asks, taking out the thousand-yen bill and putting it on the counter.
Tatsuya shrugs, but his eyes are shrewd, and fixed on Kagami’s face. “I haven’t seen him around much these past few years, that’s all,” he murmurs, his eyes dropping to the money as he puts it in the cashier and presses the keys. “Word was he’d moved to Kyoto. Atsushi’s been seeing him around too, actually, but he hasn’t tried to contact any of us. Kise seems to know something, although every time I tried to ask him about it he fobbed me off. You happen to know anything about Aomine coming back, Taiga?”
“Why ask me?” Kagami asks in reply, promptly taking out one of the galettes and stuffing it into his mouth whole to excuse him from saying anything else. He chokes a little on the ham, but otherwise, the crust is soft and chewy as ever and it goes down well.
Tatsuya does that casual little shrug again, the one that seems way more innocent than it actually is. “You guys were close back then, weren’t you?” he asks shamelessly, automatically filling a cup of water from the dispenser and handing it to Kagami. “Or at least, it seemed that way for a while. Was I wrong?”
No, Kagami thinks bitterly, you weren’t wrong. I wish you were wrong.
“He’s dangerous, Taiga,” Tatsuya says, leaning forward. The amusement in his eyes is now completely gone, and he looks perfectly serious.
“He’s a policeman, not a crook,” Kagami laughs, but both of them can tell it’s forced.
Tatsuya shakes his head. “You know what I’m talking about. Watch yourself, Taiga.”
Kagami tells him he can look after himself, and not to worry about Aomine because the whole matter doesn’t concern him one jot, and leaves. He’s in a bad temper the rest of the day.
Bad things always come in threes, so they say, and Kagami now knows this to be true. Strike one had been the fire. Strike two had been Tatsuya’s little brotherly ‘talk’. And strike three…
He doesn’t watch his back, and that’s how he gets jumped, one day after the talk with Tatsuya, caught just outside the patisserie with one hand full of pastries and the other reaching for his bus pass.
“Heeeeeeey…” A hand slides round his waist and he jerks instinctively. One elbow goes back into the other man’s stomach and his left foot stomps backwards, hard. Aomine utters an alarmed bark of discomfort as the heel of Kagami’s boot digs into his toes.
“Shit, Kagami,” Aomine coughs, the elbow having caught him in his abdomen. “It’s just me.”
Kagami doesn’t dignify him with a response, and continues walking on as if he doesn’t exist. Aomine straightens up behind him and hurries after him, clapping one hand on his shoulder as he massages his stomach.
“You really don’t soften your blows, do you, huh?” he says, a lilt of amusement to his voice. Kagami shakes him off irritably and continues walking on, but Aomine is as dogged as ever, catching up quickly and proceeding to engage him in one of the most inane conversations he has ever had the misfortune of experiencing.
Finally, Kagami sighs, and turns around. His face is a masterpiece of pissed-off, fuming, raging annoyance, and he stuffs his hands forcibly into his pockets so he won’t try and punch Aomine in his smug, smiling face. He growls out an irritable “What do you want?” and waits for Aomine to reply.
Aomine gives a short chuckle and runs his hands through his dark hair. He’s looking extremely good today, in a plain white shirt that clings to his chest and a jacket slung over his shoulder. The blue skinny jeans he’s wearing accentuate the slim line of his hips, and both the men and women walking past stop to goggle at his body. Kagami hates them all.
“Just wanted to talk to my favourite person in the world, that’s all,” he says, spreading his hands apologetically. “Nothing wrong with that, is there?”
Kagami hisses out a vehement breath and spins around, urging his legs to walk faster, to carry him away from this walking ball of disaster. Aomine catches up to him again and grabs his shoulder, this time forcibly enough to stop him in his tracks.
“Okay, okay,” he mutters, and it’s the combination of serious and sulky in his voice that makes Kagami relent. He turns around again and directs a very eloquent glare in Aomine’s direction. Aomine is very pointedly not looking at his face, but down at the floor.
He takes a deep breath, as if to rally himself, and exhales.
“Ineedtotalktoyou,” he mumbles, and Kagami blinks. The words had been jumbled together and fast, and so he hadn’t really made them out properly, but he could guess what Aomine wanted, and that was certainly unexpected.
“You want… to talk?” he says slowly. Then he laughs. It’s a bitter laugh. “Come on, Aomine. This isn’t like you. Don’t you mean, you want to fuck?”
The word sounds cruel and angry, and he snaps it out with biting force. Aomine flinches backwards as if he were slapped, and he peeks upwards quickly before flicking his lashes down.
“I… wanted to talk to you,” he says softly. “Come on, Kagami.”
And it’s the way he says Kagami’s name, soft and sweet and wounded almost, that makes Kagami give in. Contrary to his exterior, and sometimes to his great chagrin, Kagami has always been kind.
He gestures for Aomine to follow him, and stomps forward towards the park. Today is Saturday, thankfully, and he picks a secluded area of the park where they can sit down on one of the benches and not be overheard by the weekend crowds. Not that there are many at this time of day.
He sits down before Aomine and pulls one of the tarts out of the bag. Aomine plonks himself down next to him and watches him eat for a while. This does not make him uncomfortable, of course, not in the least. Not at all.
“Stop watching me eat, bloody hell,” Kagami growls, after a minute or two of silence plus his loud angsty chomping. “Say what you wanted to say and get lost.”
Aomine offers him a small lopsided smile, and it hurts Kagami that it still makes his heart twinge. He opens his mouth to speak, Kagami takes a deep breath, and the suspense almost kills him.
“I don’t really know what to say,” Aomine says, rather anticlimactically. Kagami’s nails dig deep crescents into the flesh of his thigh, and he almost bites his tongue.
He shoots to his feet, ready to leave, because really this is all ridiculous and he should never have given Aomine a chance anyway. He’d cheated on him, never apologised, never spoken to him again, and now he had the gall to drag him off into the woods and have nothing to say. Kagami had spent days, weeks, months waiting for his phone to ring with the familiar ringtone he’d set for Aomine only, and the phone had never rung. Not even once, and the fact still hurts him deep down.
But Aomine catches on to his sleeve as he stands, and he automatically looks down at the other man. The look in Aomine’s eyes is fragile, tired, and unfamiliar. It takes Kagami a moment to realise that it’s fear.
“Kagami,” Aomine whispers, and his voice breaks on the last syllable. Kagami sits back down.
Aomine swallows. He seems to be making some sort of large decision, the rusty cogs in his head whirring to life, and Kagami waits. Kagami has never been a patient man, not by far, but he’s willing to wait for Aomine.
“I’m sorry,” he murmurs. The world is quiet around them, save for the rustling of the autumn leaves falling to the ground, and the gentle murmur of faraway people. A soft breeze blows through the short curls at the base of Aomine’s skull. Kagami hears a pigeon coo in the distance, and the rustling of a squirrel above their heads, and he can smell the fresh, sour tang of mustard in the air.
Aomine pulls a familiar-looking paper bag out of his jacket pocket and plops it down in Kagami’s lap. “I thought I’d be able to catch you before you went in, but I was working a case last night, and I woke up late, so.” He clears his throat and looks away from Kagami’s startled eyes. “I don’t think the guy at the counter likes me much.”
Kagami finds his voice, and utters a little bark of surprised laughter. “Yeah, I would think so,” he replies, opening the paper bag and finding the familiar burger-flavoured galettes, a little soft but still edible. “He’s Himuro Tatsuya, from Yosen. I think he’d be offended that you didn’t remember him.”
Aomine brushes Tatsuya aside impatiently and speaks again, his eyes fixed on Kagami’s mouth as he hungrily devours the galettes.
“So… I’m sorry,” he repeats, this time looking straight into Kagami’s eyes. “I’m sorry I was a jerk to you last time.”
Kagami almost spits out the food in his mouth, managing to choke it down with difficulty. He coughs a few times before wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, then he turns his eyes up towards Aomine. The glare in his eyes, he’s sure, is hot enough to melt metal.
“You’re sorry you were a jerk?!” he spits, derisively. “Come on, Aomine, you weren’t just a jerk. You were a cheating, lying son of a bitch, and you had the nerve to tell the girl you weren’t bloody finished when I was standing there right in front of you! I’d say apologising for being a fucking jerk is a bit of an understatement, wouldn’t you say, compared to your other long list of sins.”
Aomine winces visibly with every word that’s shot at him, but still he bites his lip and bows his head. He takes the verbal beating without protest, and when Kagami is done and turns to go, he catches hold of Kagami’s sleeve again. The touch is gentle and hesitant, painfully familiar, and Kagami catches his breath sharply.
“I’m sorry I hurt you,” Aomine says simply, and the emotion in his voice is raw.
Kagami lets out the breath he is holding. His temper has always been wildly explosive, stormy and impetuous, but when it comes down to it he can never stay angry for long. Especially not at Aomine.
“You were… you were awful to me,” he manages. “I loved you.”
“I know,” Aomine murmurs. He doesn’t repeat the words back to Kagami, and Kagami’s grateful for that, because he doesn’t need to hear empty words right now. He needs calm, and quiet, and peace, now that Aomine has once more come into his life.
He remembers the incidents of the past few days, and seats himself slowly back down onto the bench. “What do you want from me, Aomine?” he asks, point-blank, because the way the other had been acting around him had certainly not been normal behaviour.
“I want you again,” Aomine says, his voice tight. “I didn’t mean to sleep with you at the reunion, I didn’t mean it, but you were… you were… I don’t have any excuses, but seeing you again was unbearable.” He looks into Kagami’s eyes, and his own are rife with pain. “I wanted you so badly. I never realised how badly I wanted you until that night. I never realised how badly I needed you in my life until you left – until I made you leave. I’m sorry, Kagami. I can’t say that enough times, but I’m truly sorry for what I did.”
“Why?” Kagami asks simply, and the hurt he had buried for so long suddenly rises to the surface and colours the tone of his voice. When he repeats his question, his voice is hoarse with emotion. “Why?”
“Because I was an idiot!” Aomine shouts, and the sudden change in volume startles the both of them. “Because I didn’t know how good I had it until we weren’t together anymore. Because I’d never fallen that fast, and I’d never fallen that hard, and it scared me, Kagami. It scared me to know I’d lose control of myself because of how badly I needed you. It was my first time... My first time being attracted to a man, and I didn't know... I didn't know what to do.”
“It scared me too, Aomine, but I didn’t cheat on you with a girl,” hisses Kagami. “You can’t ever understand how badly you hurt me.”
“Believe me, Kagami, I’ve tried,” Aomine rasps. The usual seductive lilt to his voice is missing, and all that is left is pure, volatile emotion. “I’ve imagined, so many times, what it would have been like if you’d cheated on me, and the pain I feel is… it’s indescribable. I know you can’t forgive me so soon, but I still lo – I still like you, and I want to mend the relationship between us. Is that too impossible a task?”
Kagami tosses his head and stares at the ground.
“Friends,” he finds himself saying, and somehow he keeps his voice steady. “That’s all we’ll be for the time being. I can’t guarantee you that even, not at the moment, and definitely not more, but I - I'll try.” His fists open and clench several times, and he closes his eyes, unable to bear the weight of Aomine’s gaze any longer.
“Whatever love I had for you died a long time ago,” Kagami manages. “But I'm willing to give being friends a chance.”
When he opens his eyes and looks back into Aomine’s, the pain in them is almost too much for him to bear, but he steels his heart against it and holds firm. He's barely clinging onto his self-control as it is, and it would be so easy to give in - to touch - to hold -
Somehow he holds to his resolve, and thrusts his phone out to Aomine.
"Give me your number," Kagami says, simply. "I'll call you when I'm ready. And no more following me around or trying to talk to me unless I talk to you first. If you can't do that, then I don't think we'll stand a chance, even as friends." He's almost sure Aomine will turn him down - after all, is Kagami really worth the trouble? Not when Aomine could fuck practically anyone he laid his eyes on. Hell, Kagami's not even sure if he'll have the strength to turn Aomine down, if he asks a second time.
There's a moment in which he can't breathe. Then Aomine takes the phone, and Kagami watches numbly as he presses the numbers on the keypad and passes the phone back soundlessly. Kagami looks down and is somehow relieved that Aomine's saved himself simply as aomine - no fuss, no frills, and he's honestly surprised Aomine hadn't tried anything funny.
(like adding banana and cherry emojis after his name, the first time they'd slumped down next to each other, arms and legs aching from the most intense one-on-one they'd had so far, Aomine's hands fumbling in Kagami's pockets for his phone, and the tendrils of his hair brushing against Kagami's bare neck as he leaned over to type his number in - the way he had pressed his chest unconsciously against Kagami's back, the heat of his body emanating like a furnace against Kagami's skin, the unbreakable strength in his fingers curved around Kagami's - )
"Thanks, Kagami," Aomine says, in a subdued voice. He looks at Kagami, and Kagami stands up, because in the end, he's only a man - and the pain in Aomine's eyes is too heartbreaking to bear.
"I can't forgive you," Kagami says, and the iron in his voice surprises him. "I can't forgive you, yet. It was an awful thing you did to me, Aomine."
Aomine sighs, and leans back against the bench, running his fingers through his hair. "I know," he murmurs, and his voice is husky. "I've regretted it ever since."
Kagami turns away, because he regrets it too. Regrets the tears he'd spent, regrets the hours he'd lost thinking, if only - but he's older, and wiser, and stronger, and his regrets now leave him cold. There's no point thinking what could have been, what should have been, and they have to make the most of the pieces of their relationship they've got to pick up now.

apostasy - centre fragment
Read on AO3 (highly recommended)
~~
"How low you've fallen, Chihiro."
'You don't have to say it, asshole -- I already... know...'
He can't feel, or see anything anymore. The last thing he remembers is the soft, derisive chuckle that rings through his ears, the same way it did eight years ago.
~~
"...a ... tsuya... Tetsuya."
"...?"
'I know... that voice.'
"Tetsuya."
It's a voice as rich as velvet, silky, smooth, but more than anything...
...It's as sweet as poison.
He remembers this voice.
He remembers--
...
From where?
...
"Why are you--"
"Can't you tell from looking? Hey, Tetsuya...
...he's already broken, you know?"
...
...
...
It's raining.
"It's raining, huh," Kuroko Tetsuya notes aloud, gazing out through stained glass.
"Well, I guess I won't have any jobs," Kagami Taiga shrugs. "Hope you don't, either."
"That's raising a death flag, Kagami-kun."
"Shut up. There's no way--"
He cuts himself off as Tetsuya's phone goes off. Raising a brow, Taiga watches as Tetsuya reaches into his pocket.
The second he pulls his phone out and sees the display, he blinks, expression blank.
"It's Aomine-kun."
"Oh," Taiga blinks. He'd invited Daiki over to his house along with Tetsuya, of course -- but the policeman had been abruptly called in for duty, forcing him to reluctantly decline. Glancing over his shoulder, Taiga peers at the clock.
It's sixteen past three in the afternoon.
'It shouldn't be his break yet,' Taiga thinks, feeling his stomach drop. He whips back around to face Tetsuya, but evidently, the detective had caught on the moment his phone rang. Taiga swallows.
"...I see. We'll be right over," Tetsuya voices before ending the call. Slipping his phone back into his pocket, he stands up, and Taiga does the same.
"What's the situation? Arson?"
"No," Tetsuya shakes his head. "Murder."
Tetsuya opens his eyes, blinking blearily.
...He isn't in Chihiro's safehouse anymore -- that much is obvious. Intriguingly, he isn't bound up: instead, he can feel silken sheets surrounding him.
It's so comfortable that he knows in an instant -- something is terribly wrong.
Shooting upright, Tetsuya's vision blurs, and he feels himself slip--
--only to be supported gently by a hand that lays him back against something hard -- the bedframe.
"You shouldn't move so suddenly," a familiar voice admonishes, laced with amusement, "you were knocked out just a few hours ago. You also injured your own forehead."
The voice sighs almost fondly, and the warm sound sends a chill right down Tetsuya's spine.
"Provoking and fighting an assassin... You really do never fail to exceed my expectations, Tetsuya."
He doesn't have to look up to know he's being watched with those same eyes--
--those icy, cold eyes that pierce; have always pierced, since so long ago; through him mercilessly, relentlessly, those eyes that know all--
Tetsuya lifts his head, and he drowns in a sea of crimson and amber.
"Murder?" Taiga repeats, eyes wide. "Shit, did someone get burned alive or something?"
"..."
Taiga's jaw drops.
"Hold on, I was joking--"
"Yes."
"...What?"
He almost doesn't want to hear the answer that comes next.
"The death god has made his move, Kagami-kun."
"Shinigami-san," the name falls from Tetsuya's lips before he can stop himself. The "death god" only laughs that same, beguiling, charming laugh that Tetsuya remembers more vividly than anything.
(He really wishes he doesn't.)
"How many times have I told you to call me by my name, Tetsuya? Or could it be... Have you forgotten it already?"
He says the words as if they're a question, but they both know he isn't asking anything. After all, his name hasn't left Tetsuya's mind for a single moment over the years.
"...Akashi Seijuurou-san."
Seijuurou's smirk combined with his hooded eyes are a dangerous, dangerous weapon.
"Death god," Taiga echoes incredulously. "His last victim was literally three days ago -- what the hell's going on with that guy?"
"That's my job to find out," Tetsuya murmurs, gaze hardening. Taiga sees his expression from the corner of his eye, and gulps.
"...Hey, Kuroko."
"What is it, Kagami-kun? We have to hurry and get moving. Aomine-kun is waiting. Or..." he tilts his head innocently, "...could it be, you're having a lover's quarrel? What a horrid person you are, not divulging such information to me, your best friend."
"W-w-wha-- no! It's not like that, idiot!"
Taiga flushes red as he pulls on his jacket.
"Why are you here?"
"Shouldn't that be my question, Tetsuya?" Seijuurou steps closer to the bed once more. He presses his knees onto the bed sheets as he leans in, lifting Tetsuya's chin with a single hand. "Tell me -- why did you choose to come here?"
He knows the answer. He always does, but he wants to hear it from Tetsuya directly.
Despite how light-headed he is, the conviction in the detective's gaze does not waver.
"I came to apprehend you. You and Mayuzumi-san both."
"Did you?" Seijuurou chuckles. "Willingly walking in here yourself... Were you waiting for that chance these past few years?"
"Were you?"
Tetsuya surprises himself with his own boldness, and Seijuurou is visibly perplexed for a moment, too. Then, his eyes narrow and his lips curl upwards.
"Yes," he says as his hand moves to caress Tetsuya's cheek, "I've been waiting for a long time."
When they arrive on the scene, there is nobody other than members of the police force.
"No witnesses nor suspects again," Tetsuya notes softly. Taiga glances at him, concerned, but he doesn't get a chance to read the boy's expression before a familiar arm slings around his shoulder.
"Yo, Kagami. Tetsu."
"Aomine!"
"Aomine-kun." Tetsuya acknowledges, eyes locked onto the crime scene, "I'm going to investigate."
"Ah-- er, yeah, thanks."
Daiki watches warily as Tetsuya walks over to another detective on the case. As usual, he goes unnoticed until he places a hand on the male's back, scaring the living life out of him. Taiga snorts, but his mirth fades when he turns to face his boyfriend.
"Aomine--"
"Yeah, I know. Tetsu's really obsessed with that guy, isn't he?"
"Obsessed, you say... I don't think it's that big of a deal yet," Taiga refutes, but the argument sounds weak, even to his own ears. Daiki doesn't look at him when he speaks, gaze fixed onto their best friend's back.
"...It'd be good if it weren't."
"Akashi-san," Tetsuya tries. Seijuurou shakes his head.
"Do you intend to nullify our agreement from last time, Tetsuya?"
"...Seijuurou."
"It would be better for you to rest right now," he says in lieu of answering, "your body has not recovered yet."
Seijuurou lets go of Tetsuya and moves off the bed, but before he can make it out the door, Tetsuya speaks.
"Please wait, Aka-- Seijuurou."
"What is it?"
"...Where is Mayuzumi-san?"
Seijuurou's mouth twists upwards to form a smile that shows nothing.
"He, too, is resting in another room. His injuries have not healed, after all."
"..."
The door shuts smoothly behind him as he leaves, and Tetsuya's fingers tighten in the silken sheets splayed around his body.
He can't do anything but watch Seijuurou go.
But worst of all--
--he can't even point out his obvious routes of escape when they both know:
that there's no way he'll take a single step towards them.
"I have to go," Tetsuya says, but Daiki does not move out of his way, and Taiga does not let his shoulder go.
"You can't, Tetsu. Wait for reinforcements -- or, take us with you."
"That won't work," he says, shaking his head. "He's always ten steps ahead of us. If I don't go after him now, we won't stand a chance in catching him."
"How do you know he's going to be there?"
"I know," Tetsuya's nails dig into his fists. His eyes flit back to the crime scene briefly, and Daiki catches on immediately.
"He left something for you, didn't he," the policeman says, and Tetsuya does not flinch. Taiga's eyes widen as the boy nods.
"That doesn't make a reason for why we can't go," Taiga argues, and Tetsuya bites his lip, brows furrowing in a rare display of frustration.
"I have to go alone--"
"Did he say that to you?"
"No," Tetsuya's eyes are downcast, "but this is my job. Aomine-kun and Kagami-kun... I can't--"
"Don't give me that 'I can't get you two involved' shit, Tetsu." Daiki growls, "I'm not letting you go to this guy by yourself."
"Are you saying that as a policeman, or as my best friend?"
The uncharacteristically harsh words spill from Tetsuya's lips before he can think, and he freezes. Daiki's features contort in anguish.
"I'm saying it as both, Tetsu."
He lowers his head, and Tetsuya inhales sharply. Taiga tenses up, mouth agape as Daiki bows.
"...Please. Don't do something so reckless."
"..."
Tetsuya takes a step forward, hands reaching out to cup Daiki's face. He lifts his head, meeting the phantom's gaze.
He's never seen the warmth and resolve in those deep, blue eyes glow so strongly.
"Aomine-kun," Tetsuya begins softly, "thank you very much. But, I have to go. I'll be fine. I know I will."
"..."
"Well, if Kuroko's that confident," Taiga traps both of them in headlocks, ignoring their muffled protests, "then we'll have to give him the good part this time, huh?"
Daiki stops struggling and heaves a sigh. Stepping back, they both ruffle Tetsuya's hair in sync, earning a small huff from the boy. Taiga laughs at his powder-blue locks that have successfully turned into an absolute mess of spikes, and Daiki snickers.
When he looks up at the pair, Tetsuya doesn't bother to hide the smile playing at his lips.
Blood. The unmistakably thick, stifling scent of blood is palpable in the air, even through the heavy rain. Tetsuya heads towards it, already tugging a vinyl glove onto his right hand. He pulls out his phone with his left.
Like an intentional trail, there is blood splattered across the asphalt, splatters that only increase the closer he gets to whoever -- whatever is waiting.
...
...When he finds it, he can barely perceive it as a former human.
There isn’t a single inch of the ground that isn’t painted red. He can’t tell whether the corpse was a female, or a male. It’s closer to “a mess of carved flesh and innards” than a tangible body at this point.
He swallows.
It's gruesome -- he can hardly bear to look at it. Closing his eyes, Tetsuya breathes in -- he can only smell blood, blood, blood, it's so strong he can practically taste it -- and dials a number on his phone.
"Tetsu?"
"He got us," Tetsuya says immediately, "I'm sending you the address right now."
"...Alright. Be careful."
Nimble fingers gliding across the keyboard, Tetsuya forwards his current location to both Daiki and Taiga, and then turns away.
He pauses.
Eyes narrowing, he walks back and kneels down, pressing his gloved fingers to the bloodied concrete.
"I swear I'll definitely find you."
"...!"
The moment Tetsuya reaches for the dying man on the floor, he hears a click. Eyes widening, he jumps back--
--and watches as he goes up in flames.
Tetsuya wants to scream, he can't breathe, he can hear the man's screeches as the fire licks up his arms, his clothes, his wounds, the rain isn’t helping--
"Another miss, huh."
He freezes up entirely as an arm wraps around his waist. A hand presses softly against his eyes, but he doesn't have to look to be able to know who's behind him. With his back pressed against his chest, Tetsuya swallows.
"You didn't make it on time, Tetsuya," Seijuurou's voice purrs beside his ear, "didn't I tell you before? If you don't make haste, it'll be over before you realise it."
"...Yes."
He can feel Seijuurou's smile without seeing it.
"Hey, Tetsuya. Shall we make a bet?"
"...?"
"If I win, you have to call me by my first name."
He lets go of Tetsuya, who turns to face him, eyes ablaze as always -- no matter how shaken he is. He can feel the corners of his lips tug upwards of their own volition.
He's always loved those eyes.
Chuckling, he holds his right hand out, palm upwards, fingers slightly curled. Tetsuya's gaze flicks down to it for a moment, and Seijuurou's smile widens.
"If you win, you can take me in."
"Fucking... bastard...!"
"Kagami Taiga," Seijuurou murmurs, leaning down. Taiga is glaring up at him, grimacing from where he lies on the floor. He can't see anything in Seijuurou's eyes: there is nothing but ice and void.
"My orders are absolute. If I tell you to fall, you will fall. Know your place."
"Shut... the fuck... up! I'll kill you..."
"Oh?" Seijuurou glances at the scissors stabbed through Taiga's hands, pinning him to the ground. "You should consider yourself lucky that Tetsuya does not wish for your death. Otherwise..."
"...You asshole, as if that's-- the reason why you're--"
"Yes," Seijuurou slams the heel of his shoe down onto Taiga's fingers callously. He gazes down with bored indifference when a scream rips from Taiga’s throat, as if he were watching vermin crawling across filth. "The reason I am not killing you is simple -- it's because you're still usable."
"...! You--"
"...Kagami-kun?"
He's lost count of how many times he's seen Seijuurou.
Always, always chasing--
Yet he hasn't caught him even once.
Tetsuya wakes up with a single arm outstretched, palm facing up as he reaches towards the ceiling. The blankets have been rearranged so that he nestles in them softly; but that isn't all.
His fingers are laced with someone else's. Squinting open his eyes, he can make out a clouded shape that is undeniably Akashi Seijuurou.
"Good morning, Tetsuya."
"...Good morning."
Seijuurou does not make a move to let go of Tetsuya's hand, so he doesn't, either. He lets their linked hands fall back by his side, though, and Seijuurou peers over at him as he attempts to blink his sleepiness away.
"What were you dreaming about?"
"You," Tetsuya answers without a beat of hesitation. He watches as Seijuurou's eyes widen imperceptibly, and he feels a small sense of satisfaction bloom at the sight. "I was dreaming of the past."
"Oh?" Seijuurou leans in, "Is that why your arm suddenly shot out, then? I was startled."
"Startled," Tetsuya echoes, because he can't imagine Seijuurou jolting in shock at anything.
"Yes, startled," he chuckles, "you grabbed onto me without warning, after all."
"...I apologise."
"No, it's fine."
Seijuurou squeezes his hand, an unusually tender gesture that throws Tetsuya off balance.
"If you hadn't done so, I wouldn't have been able to do this, after all."
"...There was nothing stopping you from doing it either way."
"Is that an invitation?"
"No," he says, staring at Seijuurou straight in the eyes, "but you always act selfishly."
A smile spreads across the redhead's lips.
"Hey, Tetsuya. Don't you think it's about time?"
"...?"
"You should remember by now."
"What are you--"
"Isn't that right?"
Seijuurou shifts ever-so-slightly, the bed dipping as he moves. It grants Tetsuya the ideal vision to what lies in the corner of the room, and--
--everything stops.
"Tetsuya, there's someone new we'd like you to meet. He's going to be-- y-- o-- er... ...pleasure to--"
"I'm-- ...! Niceto-- meet--?"
--where did you--
"I-I--"
"YOU HAVE TO GET OUT, TETSUYA-- --se..--! ...isn't-- I'll--... ... ..."
"..."
...
...
...?!
...go... Let him-- go-- ... !
It isn't-- supposed --?
When he finally looks up, he's alone.
Alone.
...
...
...?
Was there someone here with him before?
"Hey, Kuroko! Hows-- --? --hasn't-- been in a whiile--"
"...?"
Eventually, nobody speaks of it anymore.
Tetsuya has always been alone.
...Alone?
There's something different about this head. It has mahogany-hued locks that frame it almost pristinely. Its eye sockets have been cleaned, almost meticulously, where the eyes have been ripped out. The mouth is agape, the cheeks are sunken, and there are a few cuts across them that have, also, been cleaned. There is a gash beneath the bottom right cheek, along the jaw. There is no longer any blood leaking from it, as if it has all been drained. Similarly, the sever has been done in a spotless, precise manner: it's as if there wasn't a neck nor body to begin with.
It is jarring, even more so with how real it seems. How alive it looks.
"No," Tetsuya breathes, because this isn't how it was supposed to go--
With his palms pressed tightly one on top of the other, pushing back against his lips, Tetsuya's eyes are wide as he forces himself to lean in.
...
His legs won't move.
"Tetsuya, I brought some candy home! Let's eat it together!"
"Yes!"
"No," he repeats, tightening his grip around Seijuurou's fingers, whose lips curl upwards. His heterochromatic eyes widen with pure elation, and all Tetsuya can feel from him is a twisted mixture of delight, love and a bottomless pit of malice--
"Oh dear, Tetsuya, where you with -- ... --again? It's great to see you boys having fun-- ..."
"Yes"--?
where are-- you--?
wheredi d he go--
Masculine. About twenty-five or so years of age, if he were to estimate. Standard, Japanese features. He prods at the jaw.
...
There's something inside.
It's been... Sewn to the roof of the mouth, he realises as he feels the intricate stitching. Whoever did this has been downright meticulous in their handling of their victim.
...
...
...
It's a candy wrapper.
He's seen the candy a handful of times before, advertised around busy cities in Tokyo. He can't remember it that vividly.
Noting it down mentally, he places the head back down, and peers inside the compartment once more.
"No--"
Tetsuya tries to back away, but his body won't move the way he wants it to. He ends up pushing himself directly onto Seijuurou, who catches him without question, silent as the detective trembles in his arms.
"You-- why do you--"
Why do you have that?
The words won't come out of his mouth, but he doesn't want them to, either--
"How long has it been since you last saw that picture? Hmm... Eleven years, was it?"
"Why--"
"Hey," Seijuurou whispers, lips on the nape of Tetsuya's neck as he pulls his small body, so limp and so docile, closer, "you couldn't recognise it at all, could you--"
Tetsuya can't speak.
He can't feel.
He can't breathe, because--
"--the face of your own brother?"
