Traitor Ult Theory

Okay! I just caught up with episodes 90 and 91, and yes he's only been in one episode and episode 92's trailer so far but listen, if Ult isn't a traitor already he's definitely having a traitor arc 100%. You cannot tell me otherwise.

This scene of him in the intro is already foreshadowing imo, it's definitely hinting that something is going on with Ult, whether that's him being a traitor or something to do with his backstory, it's suspicious, there's definitely more to him than meets the eye at first.

(Also worth noting, I'm not sure how accurate the translations are but according to bulbapedia the line in the song that plays along with that scene of Ult translates to "Just me and nobody else, but that ain't right" while the subtitles on the website I watched it on say the line is "I alone am, I am alone, different". However both translations paired with this scene imply that Ult may feel alone on some level but then later have that proved wrong. Obviously the meaning is different within the context of the other lyrics but each scene is chosen to go with each line for a reason, it means something.)

There's also how Roy keeps abandoning him and Ult seems pretty impulsive, if he's not a traitor from the start, I wouldn't be surprised if he went against the group out of annoyance of Roy leaving him behind (actually or metaphorically) and because it's a way for him to achieve their shared goal before Roy does. Spinel wants Rayquayza too and it certainly wouldn't be out of character for him to manipulate Ult into teaming up with the explorers, maybe he'd lie to Ult that he can have Rayquayza once he's done with it if Ult manages to catch it for him?

Also there's just something about Ult even knowing about the black Rayquayza, I guess it's possible that Roy told him about catching Rayquaza when they first met and Ult latched onto that and made it his goal too but it's also very possible that Ult found out himself somehow especially since Roy seems so done with Ult in some scenes that it feels unlikely he'd tell him about his goals.

Here Roy outright asks Ult if he doesn't have goals of his own, which yes is probably because Ult is following/copying his goal but it could also be a hint that he's working towards the explorers' goal (somewhat unknowingly perhaps??) and Roy might know that even if Ult does not.

They seemed to get along somewhat and work really well together in battle but Roy really seemed to want to keep Ult out of things, implying a deeper reason than Ult simply being a little shit. He repeats that he had no choice in abandoning him but there doesn't seem to be a reason why Ult couldn't come with him, unless Roy didn't trust him for some reason. And the look on his face when he made his mind up to abandon Ult is a sad smile but while he's abandoning him, his expression is a lot more serious.

However, before he leaves Ult, he's seen smiling with him as they set up a camp and eat together. Roy seems to feel some level of guilt for abandoning Ult but clearly sees it as something he has to do. Looking at this through the lens of the traitor Ult theory, this could hint at Ult unknowingly being a traitor. Something along the lines of Ult working with the explorers (maybe not even knowing they're the explorers) unaware that makes him untrustworthy/antagonistic to Roy who he genuinely views as a good friend/rival. While Roy has found out somehow and doesn't want to hurt Ult's feelings but also can't risk keeping him around, despite also considering him a good (albeit annoying) friend/rival.

Also in the trailer for episode 92 we see Ult has tracked Roy down in Kanto after he left him in the woods in Hoenn. He somehow located him in a whole other region. That shouldn't have been so easy for him.

Unless location sharing is on between them on their rotom phones (which I doubt considering Roy was trying to get away from Ult) it shouldn't be that easy, unless someone else is giving Ult information or he has some other way to track Roy down. It just feels suspicious, especially since there's no way in hell that the explorers aren't keeping tabs on the RVT and out of all of the RVT members it'd make the most sense if the explorers were to keep an eye on (as far as we know) the only one in the group still out there adventuring, training and trying to work towards finding Rayquaza again. Which is also something the explorers, specifically Spinel, want.

It would just make sense if Ult were a traitor, I love Ult, he seems great from what we've seen of him so far, but he's suspicious as hell.

And even if he is a traitor I think he still does genuinely like Roy, getting abandoned like that clearly hurt his feelings, especially after he made it clear to Roy that he didn't want to be left behind by him.

I also think if he is a traitor, he'll regret it once he grows closer to the group, or, if he's an unknowing traitor, once he finds out about his place in this.

Again, I love what we've seen of Ult's character so far, he's an annoying little shit with abandonment issues and I love that about him, I'm really excited to see what'll come next for his character and in this new arc in general!! :)

J'étais tombée sur une théorie comme quoi Friede fait profil bas avec Amethio et les autres. Et je trouverais ça intéressant car ça donnerait des interactions entre lui et Amethio. Mais aussi explorer son ressenti par rapport aux Voltecceres, qu'ils sont vu des criminelles à cause de Spinel. Il se sentirait coupable mais le montrerait pas forcément.

I'd come across a theory that Friede keeps a low profile with Amethio and the others. And I'd find that interesting because it would give interactions between him and Amethio. But also explore his feelings about the Voltecceres, that they're seen as criminals because of Spinel. He'd feel guilty but wouldn't necessarily show it.

Pokemon Horizons ep. 74/75 talk

This will be a quick talk regarding these episodes, so there won't be a lot, but still, this might contain spoilers so if you don't want to be spoiled, DO NOT READ

Does anyone else feel underwhelmed by the 'revelation' that Lucius is related to Liko and her grandmother? I think many of us can agree that this was rather obvious. Honestly, it would've been a bigger surprise if it turned out Lucius wasn't related to them.

It did seem fitting for Liko to officially catch Terapagos. I mean, Liko was honestly the only real choice for Terapagos.

But I will say, with the possibility of Gibeon being over 100 years old, it makes me doubt that Amethio is truly Gibeon's grandson, since too me, it seems too convenient that after 100 years, he had a son and grandson relatively recently. And I guess I just doubt that he would ever have a family, he doesn't seem like the type.

For all we know, that could not even be Gibeon at all, just some kind of illusion with Gibeon's face.

Is Amethio a distant descendant? Or is he older than he appears similar to Gibeon, or is he even related to Gibeon at all?

Personally, I lean more towards the last theory. I believe that Gibeon isn't actually related to Amethio, but took him in and raised him, calling him family while treating him as little more than a pawn or grunt, and has no real familial connection or love for Amethio.

And I also theorize Spinel and Chalce will try to betray Gibeon, but I also think they will underestimate Gibeon and that will be their downfall.

This was meant to be a quick talk that evolved into a theory.

What Why on earth is Terapagos?

I have noticed some similarities between Terapagos and other crystal pokémon that have connections to space. In this post I'll elaborate these connections and explain why it may be extraterrestrial and a possible reason that it came to earth.

Similarities

Terapagos has an "inactive form", where it is nothing more than a crystal. If it has energy and the crystal is not stuck somewhere, then it is able to make its body take form, to restore its physical body. A crystal core from where the body comes from is a thing in common for three other pokémon that have connection to space:

"As long as its red core remains, it can regenerate its body instantly, even if it's torn apart." (Staryu's Black 2 & White 2 Pokédex entry)

"Its unusual body shape, reminiscent of abstract art, led local people to spread rumors that this Pokémon may be an invader from outer space.", (Starmie's Moon Pokédex entry) "Its sparkling core is called “the gem of the sea.” This core can be made into high-priced accessories that are traded in secret." (Starmie's Ultra Sun Pokédex entry) "Its core shines in many colors and sends radio signals into space to communicate with something." (Starmie's Black 2 & White 2 Pokédex entry)

"The DNA of a space virus underwent a sudden mutation upon exposure to a laser beam and resulted in Deoxys. The crystalline organ on this Pokémon's chest appears to be its brain." (Deoxy's Ruby Pokédex entry). In the seventh movie, Deoxys as shown to need energy and break free from the meteorite in order to take form

If the biological similarities are not enough, Starmie, Deoxys and Terapagos all can learn Meteor Beam. According to Bulbapedia, "Meteor Beam is learned by most extraterrestrial Pokémon"

Speculation part:

I believe that the crater where Terapagos is found may have been made by the collision of a meteor. Coincidence?

Let's take a look at the ability "Teraform Zero", that clears all weather and terrain effects. I believe Terapagos might have been sent to Earth to "teraform" it. Not "terraform", as in to make a planet be enough like Earth (Terra) so we could inhabit it, but the act of transforming a planet into Tera crystals. To make our world a crystal world ideal for the extraterrestrial crystal pokémon — and maybe other crystal beings?

The reason why Lucius hasn't returned is because he turned into crystal.

I don't think you understand how DESPERATE I am for a good pokemon series! Like the plot is interesting, I love the characters, and it's nice being able to see the world away from the gym challenge!

At the time of typing this, I haven't finished the episode, BUT OMG, I LOVE IT SO FAR.

Amethio is definitely my favorite character, and by episode 3, I was already theorizing about him and what the Explorers were. Apparently, he's still a teenager, and I find this part super interesting. Ik 10 year Olds travel the world in pokemon, but we're seeing Amethio working for a large and probably secret organization with a creepy ass boss dude (who's giving Belos vibes), and needing to steal a mysterious pendant. There is DEFINITELY room for theorizing there!

One thing I find interesting is how calm and collected he is, but then we just see hints of his true emotions. In episode 3, he was getting really annoyed when Friede wasn't taking hum seriously, and in episode 5 he was getting annoyed when Friede wasn't paying attention to him. And in episode 6, he punched a wall when he got replaced on his mission. Probably some trainer professionalism in there, but I still think it's interesting. (Also, Gibbeon says that it's not like Amethio to fail missions. Maybe he was just frustrated that this was taking so long?)

What I like about his teammates is the fact that they stuck by him even after he was told to leave the mission, so it's nice seeing that they have some sort of relationship away from their job.

I wanna talk about more, but I'm too excited and can't think straight rn. But I have MAJOR questions on Spinel! Who is he? Does he have any history with Amethio? Why is he apart of the searchers? He looks super cool, and I can't wait until we can officially meet him!

(Also the anime showing Sprigatito and Fuecoco's abilities, which I love, and why it's there)

Team Rocket's Ending is/will Be Canon for The Anime?

Everyone is aware of the infamous panel of Jessie and James' ending arc in the (still very much) legally licensed by Nintendo manga series called The Electric Tale of Pikachu, now more than ever there is evidence for the anime moving them in that path aswell

Despite the manga running from 1999 to 2000 we have had a reference or two to Jessie's haircut in the ending in Seviper's 2003 debut episode

And very recently in the XY and XYZ/Ultimate Journeys series James appearing with his signature ponytail appearing often in the anime both casually and under disguise

And with this being a reoccuring theme now for James, Ash winning the pokemon league and going on a hiatus from adventuring - it seems like all stars are aligned for the manga ending being hinted at or shown in the future as a cameo?

The newgen Horizons's cast now confirmed to have a timeskip in the near future, the first ever for this franchise - if they ever were to cross paths with the original members... we already know what is going on with at least 3 of them...

So... we're all in agreement that this guy's cooked by the end of this arc, right? He keeps on giving off so many death flags, it's making me nervous. (I don't think Friede will actually die, just SOMETHING bad happens to him, idk what, just between lines like these, that shot of his back as he walks into the light from the OP, and the Eldewoman drawing some comparisons between Friede and Gibeon, it feels like they're building up to something bad happening.)

(I'm assuming Spinel's fault, since he looks legitimately angry in the preview. I'm thinking he'll lose to Friede, but probably gives him a big old hearty dose of Laquium or something later in the fight for Laqua as revenge.)

!Pokémon Horizons Ep 89 spoilers ahead!

Friede is alive, y’all aren’t just coping.

Okay okay, let me explain:

The way Friede’s potential death was framed from a story writing perspective was absolutely not the way the way that his death would have been handled if he had actually died. Just think about Liko’s reaction when Sprigatito was kidnapped, she was crying and we saw far more of her immediate emotional reaction to losing it than we did everyone’s reactions to losing Friede- someone who is supposedly DEAD. Not showing your characters’ emotional responses/mourning period when another character dies is just not how you write a character death, and the creators of Pokémon have been doing this long enough to know that. Not only that, but we know Pokémon is happy to make a death hurt as much as possible, but they didn’t do that with Friede.

Another important point: Friede fell with Charzard. Obviously, this means that Charzard could have saved him from becoming a human pancake. However, that’s not the only reason Charzard falling with him is important. If Charzard didn’t save Friede, him falling served no purpose story-wise. Friede has been shown to be a self-sacrificing character. If Friede was just going to die, the writers would have had him let go of Charzard, and, through the power of cartoon logic, without Friede’s weight, Charzard would’ve been able to pull himself back onto the ship. This would’ve made what Friede did far more impactful than just saving Pikachu. He’d be saving both of his Pokémon partners at the cost of his life- a perfect heartbreaking moment.

Finally, we need to refer back to the #1 rule of deaths in fictional media: if we didn’t see the death happen, the death didn’t happen. Now obviously Pokémon isn’t going to show a gorey death, but death and dead people have been portrayed in Pokémon before, and they could have easily found a way to do this with Friede. Everyone is alive until proven otherwise.

So yeah our boy is alive (but probably not doing well. I have my theories lol)

If Director Crave is Amethio's father, then who's Amethio's mother?? Like we have to see the woman who gave birth to him! Or maybe she's dead. That might explain why their relationship is so strained, she died while giving birth to Amethio or something and Crave secretly blames him. And Crave still keeps his wedding ring to remind him of her or he just got remarried. Or she might actually still be alive and happily married to Crave.

Okay hear me out guys I have a theory..

Okay so well all know Lucius is dead right? Like long long gone, older than Diana. If we’re going off of the Amethio and Liko are mirroring each other kind of thing where Lucius is Liko’s relative, and down the line each pair of people in the families are enemies(aka Lucius and Gibeon, Diana and Hamber(not saying Hamber is related to Amethio but you get the point), and Liko and Amethio) what always bugged me is the ages. Like what do you mean Lucius and Gibeon were alive when the “ancient pokeballs” existed, but only one of them are dead and the other is still alive and kicking? It never made sense to me on how seemingly centuries have past since Lucius has been alive, but Gibeon just looked like an average age grandpa.

Well, that’s where my theory comes in. Gibeon and Amethio are actually Hisuian Zorua/Zoroarks. It’s been proven that Pokemon live quite a while longer than humans, and it’d make sense on the time period the trio was alive(Lucius, Gibeon, Rystal). It’d also make sense why Gibeon would be searching for the Rakurium, to power himself up. You’ve seen what it does to Pokemon when Spinel used it on his Umbreon(justice for Blacky), and if the pink smog he’s always surrounded in is that, well no wonder he’s a bit not there mentally.

There’s a lot of holes and unexplained things in my theory, yes, but that’s the beauty of making a silly little theory; it’s probably not cannon.
