One time I dreamt that Nurse Joy released a press release that announced the Poke Center's new motto:
"This is our vibe: We're the f'n Poke Center. Where else you gonna go?"

after rereading my old drabbles from 2014 (the ones that i did put on ao3 back then) last night I suddenly want to write something like a followup to the vague future setting featuring pokecenter nurse/receptionist Nate and pkmn breeder Hugh. Or even if it’s not a direct followup (like, reverse scene of the old drabble or sth), just revisit more of those headcanons at random because 8 years later, I still love them
Not that I can say how those headcanons first came to me because I have zero recollection of it and my explanations for why I love them would be less eloquent more “i just think they’re neat” (it just FITS in my head okay) but yeah. I just love the idea of them running a daycare/nursery together
#crystext#listen i know canonically the nurses are always girls while guys are doctors but bear with me#in that old drabble i even worded it like ''as the world's first ever male nurse'' or something adgasdgsg#he's very exciteable and loves helping people/pokemon in need and his mom worked at the pokecenter so my brain got attached to the idea#actually the followup scenario i thought about last night had Cheren visit their daycare with his students#and the students got to ask questions and stuff like why did they pick their careers what do they love about their work etc#hugh is all sweet like “i love taking care of pokemon” and meanwhile nate is like “oh lol i had no idea what to pick bc i love everything”#battle career? keep being a pokewood legend and get roped into modeling? do everything? nah working at the pokecenter would be neat#it shows that i verily lack sleep and have barely eaten because there is no eloquency to be found#guess i'll stop here for now i just missed rambling about my random selfindulgent hcs etc to someone or somewhere!#instead of keeping everything on loop in my head and combusting adgadfgaddffhddfh#really tho nate is 10000% exciteable and how could he pick between battling and acting and everything when all is so much fun adfsasdfg

Artist rendition of how the girls were napping
Oh Arceus, my pokemon have turned against me and are taking over my home!!!
(( A.k.a. Sybil, Spike, and Silly have taken up all of the room in my bed and napping together))
They are holding me hostage now!!!!
((A.k.a. Sweeney is sitting in my lap watching Mewtube at my desk with me as Sylvester lays on top of my feet))
#Silly is just living her best life in the middle#also the things on Sybil's horn and tail are pool noodles#i started putting that on her after she accidentally slashed Spike with her horn in her sleep#oma that trip to the pokecenter is a day i will not forget#it wasnt even like. a major injury like i thought it was at the time#the nurse joy just slapped on a big band-aid on her and gave her a pokepuff and sent me on my way#rotomblr#pokeblogging#pkmn irl#rotumblr#pokeblr#pokeposting#tw unreality#unreality#pokemon irl

Aloha from the Alola region!
A month and two weeks ago my dad found a limping Jangmo-O while riding his mudsdale and caught it with a towel to bring it to a pokecenter, but now it won't leave us alone! We released it back to where it was when he found it but it comes back every time! (*´-`)
It doesn't try to hurt us but it scrapes itself on our door and house all day and doesn't leave. It's been drinking out of the rain collector and eating from the community garden. The nurse said that if it wanted to hurt us it would have already, but I'm getting worried about how determined it is. It even tried to get in through the pet door and would have if it didn't lock! We don't have any pokemon besides mudsdale ,and she lives at a pasture with other mudsdale, so it can't hurt her thank goodness! We tried contacting the pokecenter and Aether foundation but they both told us either we could catch it or they could take it back again.
I like the little guy and want him to be where he'll be happiest and healthiest but he comes back EVERY TIME! It was scary enough when it followed us home the first time but now I'm worried the little guy won't go back at all!
based on what you've said here, i think this guy was raised by humans and released. it's not an unusual thing with young dragon types. people often raise dragons from the egg thinking it'll make them easier to tame, only to release them when they still turn out to be too much of a handful. i'd hazard a guess that this guy has just gotten to the age to the age where he should be butting heads with other jangmo-o and clanging his scales together.
unfortunately, jangmo-o really need to be raised in a group and live with other jangmo-o to survive in the wild. but this guy thinks that humans are his social group, so he's trying to hang out with humans. he probably doesn't even know where to find other jangmo-o, since they live in areas isolated completely from humans. he's likely going to need to be in captivity for the rest of his life if he's going to have a chance at long-term survival.
in this case, sending him to the aether foundation or giving him to the center to find a home for him will be the best thing for him. he'll be much happier in human care.

So, you wanna play a Pokémon TTRPG
But you don't have the time to manage 1K entries in a book? Well, I'm working on the thing for you! PokéD6.
Now that I've show you my character sheet concept, let me break down some of the things on it. The biggest thing anyone will notice right away is the lack any numbered stats. This system converts existing BSTs (Base Stat Totals) into a 6 point grade. Above, each black diamond (✦) represents one point of that stat's grade. And any pre-existing pokemon can have it's BST quickly converted by simply dividing any given stat's total by 36 and rounding up, to a max of 6! Each grade also has an associated number of dice, which are always equal to the grade itself, and an associated modifier. A stat's modifier is equal to it's grade plus it's IVs. IVs, represented by the hollow diamonds (✧), have also been simplified down into a single dice roll per stat. So, whenever you capture a new pokemon, roll 6d6. Like with stat grades, each diamond represents the IVs value. IVs cap out at 3.
But, you may find yourself asking, what do Stat Dice and Stat Modifiers even do?
Currently, they're for combat! While the attack itself determines how much damage it can do, the pokemon's stats determine if the attack hits, it's minimum damage, how hard they are to hit, and even how much they can reduce the damage! When attacking, say with a Physical Move, the attacking pokemon rolls 1d6 + their ATK Modifiers against the defending pokemon's DEF Modifier + 3. If the attack hits, roll the move's Power and add any bonuses given. Such as Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB) or type effectiveness. The defending pokemon rolls their DEF Dice, subtracting their result from the Power roll.
Power has now been converted into d6s, to find a pre-existing move's Power divide it's power by 25 and round up! With the exception of very high damaging moves, most moves deal 1d6 to 6d6 damage.
So a move like Tackle deals 2d6 damage.
I could go on, but for now I want to leave this here and just see what people think! I've enjoyed working on it and am pretty close to being able to do a simple beta of it. So, have a copy of the pdf and lemme know what you think!
EDIT (4/20/24): Yo what if I just suddenly dropped even more rules in this post? Yea? Yea! So here's how trainers work!
Trainers are divided into four Careers; Field Researcher, League Challenger, Contest Coordinator and Pokemon Breeder! These careers determine starting gear, recommend a set of skills (more on those later!!!), and determine how the player can make money. Field Researchers are basically the intern equivalent of a Professor's Aide! They go out, encounter as many new pokemon as possible, and get paid a weekly salary! They can even earn bonuses for finding odd pokemon, such as ones with unusual movesets~! League Challengers are pokemon trainers like in the games! Beat gyms, get badges, take on the champion. Easy as! They get paid based on the trainers they defeat, which can be picked up at a PokeCenter or just given to them immediately. Contest Coordinators focus on training pokemon for Gen 3 style'd Contests! They make money by winning contests, with each rank paying out higher rewards! And lastly, Pokemon Breeders! Like the name says, they make their money by breeding and raising pokemon at the requests of the Pokemon League or other trainers. The more specific the request, the more money they earn for it!
Trainers also have skills! These work a lot like Stat Grades, but they don't have an associated modifier. When making a trainer, a player picks 6 skills out of 12. Players then have 18 points to distribute however they want into those 6 skills, up to a maximum of 5. The other skills are left at 1. The skills available are: Archeology, Cheering, Climbing, Cooking, Fishing, Foraging, Knowledge, Nursing, Riding, Sneaking, Spotting and Swimming!
I'm currently working on reformatting the doc so enjoy the new tidbits for now! See you again when I've finished the doc!

[Photo ID: The kit’s fully hatched, and no longer goopy! It looks to be just a little bit bigger than a Zork paw, considering how Malkah’s holding it while on her side. You can see a massive Luxray’s legs, an Absol, and several Nurse Joys and Pokecenter employees in the background!]

With that ask about the Nursing state, the reason they're called nurse Joy is because their all of the same family, the Joy family owns the monopoly on pokecenters and if you want it you have to join their family, like yakuza or some sh*t, and you dont wanna mess with them, there's a reason they have the monopoly on pokecenters, and they aint planning on loosing it any time soon
should i be like. closing my blinds and locking my doors after getting this ask

Oh thank Arceus PokeLying is awake! Listen, I have this Goomy. Sweet thing. Very relaxed, Loves just laying in the Sunbeam. I love him. He's been my partner for ages. Didn't want to evolve, so we everstoned.
Anyways, I rescued a Pachirisu from a staravia a year ago and did all the proper recommendations from Nurse Joy. Slow introduction, multiple checkups, everything.
For a few months everything was fine and Pachirisu and Goomy were becoming good friends.
But Pachirisu recently started getting a habit of zapping Goomy to see him jiggle. It's starting to get to the point where Goomy may need to go to the pokecenter for long term electricity exposure. I tried all the training tactics I could but nothing can stop Pachirisu from using Goomster as a stim toy.
Any advice?
The good news is that your Goomster is probably taking things better than a lot of other playpals would, since the entire Goomy family is pretty tolerant of electrical charges in large part because of their physical composition. It's a bit like tazing a car tire. Certainly not going to be entirely pleasant for the tire, and still a long-term concern, but it could easily be a lot worse.
From the sounds of things, as your Pachirisu is getting more comfortable in its new home, it's getting more playful and resorting to more familiar activities to express its happiness and comfort. In the wild, they often zap one another as children as a kind of bonding exercise. Goomy jiggling in response is probably more a curiosity than an overt sign of distress to Pachirisu, since its siblings would more often have startled instead.
A Pachirisu itself is about as resistant to electrical charge as a Goomy, so if your goopy son is able to express discomfort to his new brother, it's likely that the behaviour will dial down over time. You could try encouraging Goomster to be more assertive whenever Pachirisu does something he doesn't like, but be wary that this could result in a souring relationship between the two if either side goes overboard.
Alternatively, you could try to find a toy that Pachirisu can jolt and wiggle without disturbing Goomy. This can be found in a lot of commercial stores or scratch-built. The latter option can be more expensive depending on your area but you can make do with a planted log and a set of painted rubber tires. You can even attach a klaxon to it so Pachirisu gets a reaction when it gets shocked.
A third option is to get Pachirisu some more friends to play with! Either at home or the park or a local community, exposure to other species will both give him options when zapping and a greater understanding of the comforts of different friends. Right now it sounds like Goomy is his only playmate, so more enrichment could go a long way.

( it looks a lot like a Pokemon center. isn't that the machine that nurse joy(s) use to heal pokemon? though the pc is a little out of place. im a little tied between pokemon center and oak's lab. )
"Haha! And Bingo was his name-o! I knew you guys would get it- as I said, you guy's are real smart ain't'ch'all? Hell- one of you even got the exact gen, well done!"
He walks back on screen, clapping, and you easily notice his mask has changed yet again, he seems proud of your victory, but, not too long after he started, he slows back to a stop.
"Thooough- I can't give you full points- No, no, I'm not in glitch city, I only go there when I have to. Nah, This is My Pokecenter."
He pulls the chair back over to himself, hopping into it with ease, and he follows it up by kicking his legs back and gesturing around with his arms. "Well- Technically mine. It is at this point anyways- Nobody comes here anymore. Not many people come to 'ridian now a-days.... 'Specially not here. " He looks around almost.. slightly solemnly? You can't really tell actually
"But really, nuh uh, you wouldn't catch me dead casually hanging in Glitch City, that place smells like rotting, bad B.O and.... practically everything else all at once. It is not pleasant- ugh not to mention how shit feels there- Touch a wall, feels like flesh, touch a different wall feels like a variety of different furs, take your shoes off, fall in quick sand- et cetera et cetera et cetera, complaint complaint complaint. Don't make me go into a tangent about that place. Hell why d'ya think I'm helping god's little reject get outta there?"

small child 1: so, on of us is trans!
small child 2, who is apparently the identical twin of small child 1: if you guess which one, we’ll give you a mega stone!
Obvious tourist: Ah, I dunno, it feels rude to speculate…
small child 1: but if you get it wrong, then we get to battle you two on one, okay?
pokecenter nurse: hey, what have I told you two about running that scam in my lobby? If you’re so battle hungry, go find that nemona kid, she’s been here a dozen times and it’s not even my lunch break

So- uh, my Eevee has black fur he’s always had black fur but obviously that’s not normal but every pokecenter I take him to says he’s fine but idk why he’s got black fur
This is likely overproduction of melanin, known as melanism. It is associated with less outwardly severe health problems than the reverse (albinism, or the lack of melanin entirely), but does still have some adverse effects, such as the synthesis of vitamin D. I reccommend you discuss this with your local pokecenter nurses just to be safe.
This is also not a diagnosis- however I do think it is the most likely answer as eevee do not naturally come in black.
...Or it is an umbreon and you failed to notice somehow.
