"Day & Night" is a song by English singer-turned-actress Billie Piper (known from Doctor Who, Penny Dreadful). The song was written by Piper, Eliot Kennedy, Mark Cawley, Mike Percy and Tim Lever for Piper's second album Walk of Life, and was released as the album's lead single. It was a commercial success, it debuted on the UK Singles Chart on at number one, and remained on the chart for 13 weeks. This was Piper's third and final chart-topper in the UK.

The track also reached the top 20 in Ireland and the top 50 in Flanders and the Netherlands. In Australia, it peaked at number 8 on the ARIA Singles Chart, and peaked at number six in New Zealand and remained on the chart for 15 weeks.

• Togepi had been part of the main cast for ages.

• We all thought there were 150 Pokémon before that. Mew was regarded as a myth for a good while.

• News of Gold and Silver was out by then.

• Pictures of Donphan were all over magazines promoting the film.

• If you were watching this in the cinema, you'd just seen Pikachu's Vacation with Snubbull and Marill.

These memes always read as if the maker wasn't actually there.

Right... so, um, i just discovered that Ichimura Masachika, the man who played Erik in the Japanese production of "The Phantom of the Opera" (in the 90's), was chosen by Kunihiko Yuyama (director of the first Pokémon movie) to voice Mewtwo in the first "Pokémon" movie. And Yuyama was actually inspired by Erik's (The Phantom) character to write Mewtwo as a tragic, sympathetic villain that struggled with his own existence as he learned how to be a better person in the end... Masachika himself said he was surprised because Mewtwo is pratically The Phantom, but Pokémon version. Except that he wasn't abused because of his physical appearance as Erik was, sure, but the point still stands!
