It can also be astoundingly better for you to not remove your body hair. My legs and underarms hate being shaved. Ingrown hairs, sensitivity to shaving gels/foams/creams, eczema flares.... plus? My hair is so dark and my skin so pale that you still see the dots of pigment in my skin from the hair within immediately after shaving. Annoying, painful, and useless.
I have not shaved my underarms in ten years. Consequences? I had to find a soap that properly dissolves the old deo off when I wash and I might get a fairy knot once in a blue moon.
I have only shaved my legs about 5 times in the past ten years. Consequences? (Well the shaving had consequences :p) Like none. I am lucky that my thighs are mostly peach fuzz but knee down is black hair. Did you know you can buy leggings that will hide leg hair entirely if you don't feel like having it seen? Check out Snag Tights. I'm for real. Opaque, soft, durable, so many pretty patterns!
And? I happened to marry a guy who already did not give a shit about my body hair. That was luck. But it's also proof that they exist. If you are with someone who acts disgusted by any hair you choose to not remove? You might remember that there are people out there NOT like that, who don't require convincing or being made to think.
sometimes i wish i could tell other women that you can just stop removing your body hair and in many cases the consequences will be way less severe than u expect. you can go to the beach with all your leg hair intact and nobody will stop you or say a thing. you can stop waxing your upper lip and people won’t stare at it the way u might be bracing yourself for. you can quit plucking your brows and eventually they will grow back into themselves and no one will even notice. like for sure women are punished for not participating in beauty rituals but i also feel like so much of it is like The Panopticon sometimes where you just convince yourself that if u stop that kind of gendered upkeep everyone will be mad and stop talking to u forever when in reality you just keep existing and nothing remarkable happens. it’s not always easy but you can kind of just stop for real

Yo, I saw your post about trans dudes not gendering hobbies and I want to cosign it real hard
I'm a cis dude (or whatever... wrote that long ask the other day, so you see the whatever). I do stuff like wood carving... at some point I'd like to get into blacksmithing (and a million other things)
Are those masculine hobbies? What a weird thing to even ask, they're just themselves
Carving is carving, everyone should do it
I also want to pick up the skills to make my own clothes some day. Would that be masculine if I call it tailoring or feminine if I call it sewing? It's in fact just a good skill
And I mean Doki Doki is a great game, never played it, just watched it, but what fantastic characters. Liking it isn't gendered, you're right that there's nothing wrong with you
You know, I got into MLP back in like 2011... man... people just can't... eh... no I feel you hard on how it was for you though, cause while I still really love it, I haven't watched it in years, not cause of shame or something but just cause the infinite posts on here about guys who watch it all being creeps kinda sapped my ability to enjoy it
Great show though, still recommend it, just lost my own personal ability to enjoy it other than the occasional fan art
Point is with all of this, none of it effects your gender. Shows aren't gendered, hobbies aren't gendered. Things like make up or what kinda clothes you want to wear aren't gendered
Welding, knitting a baby onesie, blue and pink, dresses or overalls... none of this has gender. Men, women, trans, cis, anyone no matter who they are, how they identify... they all belong equally in all these things... what matters is if it's a good fit for you, there's no such thing as you having to fit the right boxes for it
Easier said than done sometimes to not care what other people thing, especially if it would put you at risk; but from an internal point of view, and from how much you should value others opinions on this... do what you like, and people who don't like it can piss off
But yeah, just saw that post and wanted to weigh in
The stuff I said is true for everyone, but bring it around towards trans men in particular, there's no right way to be a trans man. You're you, you're a trans dude... job done
You get to decide what it looks like for you, but none of this stuff is gendered. You could be the most masculine guy in make up, or you could do the daintiest welding in the most feminine way, but that's just you bringing your own style to it; and just like none of these hobbies are gendered, neither is being a trans guy
Like if you're a masculine trans guy that's great, but if you're real feminine that's great too. That's stuff's just the flavoring for how you're you, none of it's what makes you a guy
I hope you have a nice day
Thank you for your input and I totally agree with everything you said !
It sucks that you can't enjoy MLP like you used to... But yeah, there's a big stigma around "masc looking" people with "fem aligned (to society's standards" hobbies and interests. Like I said in my post, I'm a huge anime fan and I've seen so many cis men get shit for being creeps because they had like their favourite female characters from an anime or manga as their phone wallpaper, or because they had figures and posters, for people it can only be for "gross, NSFW purposes" when it's just people enjoying fictional characters.
And I hate when you say that and people are like "well IF the men in fandoms weren't ALWAYS CREEPS" and it's like: you're talking about the loudest crowd, not the majority. I'm not a big fan of fandoms in general because people tend to be too intense about the media, for me at least. But that's the point of a fandom and there's good and bad in it. It's not a gender thing.
I remember watching a little video about the MLP fandom and finding some things that came out of it like the huge conventions and fanfic and overall creativity so so great !! and then the youtuber introduced the more NSFW, weird part of the fandom and said "I think that the reason why men tend to sexualized fictional characters in shows and any medias is because it's the only way they ever learned to enjoy female characters. As a girl, I can relate to the characters that are girls because they experience similar things to me, but to men, the only relatable and enjoyable thing they can possibly get out of a female character isn't the way she's written, the things she goes through, it's just the sexual gratification she can give."
And I don't have words strong enough to say how APALLED I was by this statement like, do you hear yourself, fr ?!
But anyways, there's still a long road ahead of us for people to just be normal about men liking "unconventional" things. Or to just de-gender things in general, really.

Boy mummies wear bandages that cover their whole bodies and have clothes over them.
Girl mummies wear bandages that cover their torsos and some sections of (but not all of) their arms and legs, and wear accessories over their bandages but no clothes.
Logic 👍

Little funny detail about men's shower gel and shampoo, because everyone always laughs how pointlessly gendered they are.
They are fucking dyed. The product itself is in vibrant colours. And women's aren't?!?!
I genuinely didn't know that women's hygiene products were just almost always white, often glittery, sometimes they are lightly coloured, but still.
Men's products are usually blue, green, orange/yellow, brown or gray. And it's very vibrant.
(Yes those are the colours of the product, not the packaging.)
The last one, the orange one, is my current gel after it has already been thinned with a bit of water, because my sis insisted I put it in the foam dispenser. Unfortunately I don't have Old Spice on me right now, but it's also strong blue.
That's how it looks in the bottle:
I can't get over this. Like, what do you mean you don't have that? It literally impossible to get a sport shower gel that's not dyed. (Also, obviously not every men's product is like that, just most of them.)

When I make a haircut appointment at my usual place online the interface forces me to choose whether I want a men's haircut or a woman's haircut. Which is the same "haircut under 25cm" service from the same master for the same price, I just need to hand in a gender as a part of the ritual. So what I usually do is choose a different option every time. Last time it was a male one, this time it was a female one. I have been going for pretty much the same style for the last year or so, but sometimes it's flowers and shopping flavoured, and sometimes it's guns and woodchopping flavoured, I guess.
Anyway, the hair clipper somehow decided to bite into my ear and cause an overdramatic bleeding today, so now I can say that, statistically speaking, the female version of my hairstyle is way more bloody and violent than the male one.

I just remembered one of the stupidest gendered things that my mom got upset with me picking/preferring the male one of. And that is glasses. I liked the guys glasses section more because the colours tended to be less poppy and I just wanted something plain and unnoticeable on my face. But she insisted for years that I should be in the women's section because I'm a girl. Yes this object you need to see will not work unless you pick from this section lol

what the fuck is "female rage" ?? you're literally just angry. women don't have to re-label anger in order for it to be more acceptable

Cool tip for trans guys!
If something is making you feel gender dysphoria, just be like those stupid gendered products and call it a "man ___"!
This isn't just any dress. This is a man dress. For men.
This isn't makeup. This is mankeup.
These aren't breasts, they're my manly man pecks! Maybe even my man titties!
This isn't my v*gina, this is my man p*ssy! For masculine men!
I don't have a "feminine voice". I'm just a guy with a high range!
I'm a high-waisted man, like John Mulaney!
I don't have long eyelashes. I have long guylashes!
Note: This may not work for everyone. But it works for me sometimes, and it might work for others in an emergency.
Also, this logic can apply to trans ladies too. Just replace "man" with "woman" or other feminine term.

of all things, why the fuck are multivitamins a gendered product? do different genders need different amounts of vitamins? is it based on asab or hormones? what are androgynous and intersex people supposed to do? or is it just that they support different areas of health that men and women are socially expected to care about? who decides that? why does any of this matter?

I've always loved writing instruments. And the more I learn about them, the clearer it is that they reflect the culture and style of the era in which they were made.
This lovely pen is a Lady Sheaffer in Paisley Periwinkle from the 1960s. Several pen makers had models marketed toward women, and Sheaffer made their "lady" series look like jewelry - while naming them after fabric. You can imagine the men on the marketing team with their suits and cigars going, "Jewelry and clothes: that's what women like, right?"
Fortunately, this little stunner writes as good as it looks.
