BEING ME

On some sleepless nights and starless skies

you burn

Inside the restlessness of my eyes.

My sleeplessness

Takes a form.

It becomes you.

And I fight it

Like I didn't fight you

When you wrapped my days

With cloaks of injustice.

I fight it but it wins.

So I stay awake trying to forget you.

There is smoke trying on your shape,

In vain

Inside my evaporating memory

My eyes sting

With moments

I got to spend with you.

Bloodied, red, intense.

Bursting veins.

Moments and only moments.

Not the life they could have been.

If you had taken time out to look

And made me feel seen.

I could not have

the lush forest

Only some autumn trees.

Snatches of life, lived with you

Through rose coloured glasses.

When everything looked like a rainbow

Oh what a folly!

I need to unremember

All that I am beginning to forget.

Let thoughts of you

Disappear like mist

Or like

Handful of fractured rainbows

Splattered inside of me.

I try hard

I struggle

I try retrieval

I try regression

Only so I can remember

Not you

But

Before you

Who I used to be.

My mind screams,

like it's trap in hell

Trying to escape but,

it is insecurities cell

The smile I wear,

mislead people around

They think I am,

the most happy girl in town

The mess in my head,

is unlike anyone has seen

My mixed up thoughts,

are nowhere to be seen

Envy, depression and fear,

are what I feel

They say it's normal,

what's the big deal?

These are the monster,

pulling me in dark abyss

They don't let go,

No matter how much I resist

What is this dark world,

I see no light

Release me from here,

I don't want to be alive

I have no hope,

My heart is not alright

I scream and scream,

but nobody hears

Am I a burden,

that nobody cares?

Why am I the person l,

that people betray?

My world has collapsed,

and I am fading away

Kill me please or,

take me far away

No more I want to feel,

this pain everyday

is a mans trait

but what is more

feminine than rage?

it hides behind

a polite smile,

a clenched jaw,

blood stained teeth

cut by the unsaid

words.

you turned war machines,

into goddesses of love and fertility

you took our history

and have rewritten it

as your own

while our grandmothers

carried revolutions on their backs

a slow,

steady

burning fire,

the same flame you

burned the innocent alive

you have taken our rage

and labeled us

emotional

blaming the blood

between our thighs.

so I ask again -

what is more femenine

than rage?

god is coming home soon

be ready

be better

he's always watching

I've lived half my life afraid of dying

wary of not just the men in the streets

but the one in the sky they say watches over me

a vengeful god

one who watches children like me

be thrown into pits and burned

sacrificial lamb

like it's respect, not slaughter

watching his sons and his daughters cry out from the dust

this is someone I'm supposed to praise?

supposed to trust?

they say god is love--

show me his hands then

that is blood

*the god I knew
