Soooo I have a headcanon (well...I guess it’s a headcanon, but it’s something I hope might actually happen) that Chas filmed the speeches at Robron’s wedding reception.

Like...I found it a bit odd that Robert mentioned his speech (to Aaron outside the pub), but we didn’t get to see it. So I have this headcanon that it did happen, that Robert probably did make some long soppy speech, and maybe Aaron said a few words too (not a lot, and certainly not he way Robert did!) and that Chas filmed it (as she appeared to be filming them dancing/cuddling too).

So my headcanon is, that at some point over the next few weeks/however long Aaron is inside, Robert is going to watch these videos. Like just sit there in the quiet and watch them. I can imagine Chas telling him that she’s put all the wedding stuff on a disk for him, but he can’t bring himself to watch (because he’s sort of embarrassed, but also he just can’t bring himself to watch them without Aaron) but one day he just....he can’t stand being away from Aaron any longer, and just needs to feel close to him, so he brings himself to watch the footage of them on the happiest day of their lives.

I would love this so so so much if Emmerdale actually like....showed this. Like you can’t say (twice!) about Robert making a speech and then not show it. So imagine if they did show it, just weeks later, with Robert watching it on the TV or on his laptop. Like wobbly home-movie style footage with Chas “aww’ing” over the top of it.

I mean I don’t actually think this will happen, but bY GOD I would love it if it did. Either way, it’s going to happen in my mind <3

as much as i want ryan back in the requisite 2-4 years after a nice long break

can you imagine

at least 15-25 years down the line (of which he pushed everyone away and basically didn’t let anyone come see him because i think if i’m reading things correctly on the interwebs he’d be the one who would have the power to issue visiting orders and to explain the idea of him not being on screen for so long i’d imagine he’d just... stop contacting people and letting people visit)

a vastly-different-but-still-the-same Robert comes back to the village (maybe ryan, maybe a recast, maybe karl lmao)

he’d be approaching 60 at this point

he’s completely lost after so many years in prison, just sad and lonely and shattered (or maybe completely hardened and shattered and brittle...)

the village has moved on, maybe Vic’s still there, maybe not.

Aaron’s “moved on”, by which i mean he’d dated, married, and had a family with someone else (but LBR he’d never actually “move on” because soulmates)

he’s terrified of meeting his son, can’t even imagine it after all these years (maybe aaron even sees seb every once in a while and has some kind of relationship with him)

obvs aaron can’t help but get close again because he hates to see rob struggling and he wants to help but he can’t help getting more and more emotionally drawn in (maybe affair 2.0? maybe not as dramatic as last time?)

somehow rob gets the farm because it’s secretly my dream lmao (but maybe he struggles with finding work at the beginning, maybe he tries to build his own business too...)

and there’s a great 2+ year storyline on robron getting back together but resisting because so much has changed and aaron’s built a whole new life with some other guy and rob is a Mess, rob building a relationship with seb, rob getting used to life outside of bars

maybe add in some ~jail drama because obvs rob did some pretty wild things to survive in prison which involves lots of sketchy contacts and whatevs

but yeah

can you imagine

(i just want to fast forward to get there. like. can we fastforward to the future. or at least give me a ~vision that tells me if they recast robert or if ryan ever comes back lmao)

It's incredible to me that Emmerdale has a young actor as gifted as Isobel Steele in their arsenal but have yet to give her a major storyline of her own to carry and yet have given the kid who plays Jacob one.

And then poor oul skint Ross gets the white family fortune and we don’t have to have another boring fam at home Farm , plz emmerdale lmao

I never even thought of Ross getting the money. Wow, that’s true! And would definitely add another layer to this story.

Unfortunately, Home Farm isn’t going away. Debbie is going to be involved in it and Ross could be drawn into it as well.

God, there are so many great storylines that could come from this!!

I am SO glad that Emmerdale has taken these two quite damaged characters, and slowly given them the opportunity grow and heal over the past couple years. This is what soap operas are best at. This is what I love most about them, generally speaking. That they have SO MUCH TIME to tell long running storylines like this. And allowing it to happen with two of their most iconic “sons” (I would say legacy characters, but Robert’s the only true legacy character here, sorry Aaron) is absolutely wonderful.

i just hope that they really allow both of them to permanently grow and mature, moving forward. ahem. i’ll always accept setbacks and messups but. it’s time. let it happen @ the soap gods. robbo deserves this lil bit of growth. let him have it.

okay so everything is forgiven if we get a one week c-plot like late spring/early summer where rob and aaron clearly want to spend some ~personal time together but can’t because of the baby 

make it the comediest of subplots ending in a grand snog and semi-stripping and half-naked men

do it, emmerdale, i believe in you and your commitment to rom-com tropes
