Shadowgast Corporate/Office-Au Rec List!

Hello I'm back again with more disaster wizard (well and in this case working professional but more office-like setting) recommendations!

This list is a little bit more bawdy than normal (I love a good smut fic, but I also try to vary the ratings on these lists for those who may not share my enthusiasm).

As per my last email (11651 words) by LivThael (I don't think they are on Tumblr- if they do please comment so I can tag- but they have a twitter listed in the notes of the fic) Chapters: 11/11 Rating: Explicit Summary: Essek Thelyss is an asshole with a questionable taste in spreadsheets. Caleb Widogast has more important and certainly more interesting things to do than filing travel expense claims. A series of mails turns into a escalating meeting. Or: Please stop writing me emails, I genuinely hate you. - Explicit content only in chapter 10.

What I loved: Anyone who has worked in an office knows a passive aggressive email when they get one. Plus we have the added bonus of having to deal with accounting to get expenses covered- ugh, so good. The energy of these passive aggressive- yet flirty workplace emails between new hire Caleb and kind-of-an-asshole Essek in accounting is *chefs kiss*. The build up to their meeting was written so well! I also really love the way the fic is formatted- the email style gives it an immersive feel.

2 Paradigm Shift

Paradigm Shift (114,291 words) by full_time_dreamer_behold (I don't know their tumblr, please totally feel free to tag if they have one- i'll add it). Chapters: 28/28 Rating: Teen and up Audiences Summary: Recently moved to Rosohna, Caleb accepts a job at a prestigious law firm, but the work turns out to be menial and dull. Thankfully, his life takes a turn when he makes new friends and starts taking a curious interest in the IT Manager- the handsome and intriguing Essek Thelyss. Could he be reason enough for Caleb to stay in this place? He certainly intends to find out.

A friends-to-idiots-to-lovers slow burn with a sweet ending.

What I loved: This was such a lovely slow burn. It covers hard topics in a corporate kind of setting including racism, nepotism, and power dynamics that really suck but it handled with care and well written. I also really love the disability representation here! This slow burn is so so good, I super recommend! Also bonus it's the length of a beefy novel!

Chapters: 38/? Rating: Explicit Summary: Caleb Widogast does not belong here. The world of sharp suits, board meetings, and billion dollar budgets is a far cry from Caleb’s preferred domain: the research lab. Where nobody cares about his faded T-shirts and raggedy jeans. But a year of industry experience will look good on his CV, and the hefty pay bump wouldn’t hurt either. How hard could a secretary gig be? What he finds behind the glittering edifice of Auriga, Wildemount’s leading name in arcane technology, is CEO Essek Thelyss, who maintains his domain with an acid tongue and an iron fist. It’s difficult not to find him intriguing, this handsome, guarded, brilliant man. It’s even more difficult not to want to please him. Caleb knows to keep it professional, though. Working late nights together at the office and lingering glances here and there don’t cross the boundaries of propriety. That is, until they do.

Why I love it: Out of all the recs this one is the SPICIEST (and I love that). Head the warnings - there may be stuff that isn't for you, but if you, like me, enjoy a 6/5 spicy level fic- congrats this one will not disappoint. This story is in progress but updates weekly which is fantastic. We have big time and hot mess CEO Essek and his personal assistant disaster bisexual Caleb- of course it's an HR scandal waiting to happen, but also, Essek might come out a better person for it. I cannot recommend this enough, this fic is so so good. In addition to the smut, it's also just a really fantastic story.

4 sleep, with benefits

sleep, with benefits (62272 words) by KmacKatie @kmackatie Chapters: 12/12 Rating: Explicit Summary: Caleb Widogast wakes up from the first good night of sleep in far too long. It takes him a moment to realise it's because he's not in his bed. Is it the better mattress (lump-free and like a cloud), or the fact he drunkenly slept with Essek Thelyss, the colleague he's been secretly crushing on for the last six months?

Why I loved it: Let me just start off by saying kmackatie is brilliant and everything shadowgast that katie writes makes my heart sing. In this fic Essek and Caleb are captured so well- they are both big idiots who act like scared cats around one another (even though they both want the same thing) but honestly- can there be any other dynamic? This hot mess of them not using their words eventually leads to the best of endings and you should all read it because it is so lovely.

This resolution lasted a remarkable twenty-four hours. * Small-town high school science teacher Caleb Widogast has his life more or less figured out, or so he thinks. Then an unexpected variable gets thrown into the equation in the form of the new addition to the teaching staff: the handsome and clever Essek Thelyss.

Why I loved it: This fic was so sweet. I have a soft spot for fics that play with chronology in their story telling and this one does a bit of that. It is a shorter read but honestly that works really well for this love story. Caleb of course falls hard and fast and Essek does not mind at all. Some angst, but they are written so well and so soft, Brilliant <;3

I'm re-watching SGA again and omfg the first episode when weir and daniel are talking, "Atlantis" "I think we can go there" CHILLS

Updates:

- Ok so straight up did not remember there was no intro for the first few episodes. Also, John and Teyla's first interactions are sooooo awkward, I always forget that. DAMN the plot is so good right off the bat though. The city rising from the ocean??? BEAUTIFUL, MORE CHILLS, GORGEOUS.

- the color scheme and lighting for the wraith ships is soooooo different in the beginning WOW. The blue and grey, complete lack of other colors aside from a slight yellowish light. So drastically different from the heavy yellow and green fleshyness it becomes later on.

- FORD, AHH 💛

- I've always wondered if the red haired wraith was intentionally not following the black or white hair scheme or if that was a pilot thing where they hadn't thought that far yet. (If anyone knows please lmk)

- DAMN the wraith are so fucking cool. I'm 1000% going to make a whole seperate post ranting about them, but I just have to say they introduce them SO WELL. They're intimidating, mysterious, powerful, and not to mention SO UNIQUE. GAAAAAH!!

- "We are merely the caretakers for the ones who sleep" CHILLS. FUCKING CHILLS DUDE. All the lifsigns appearing and the pods lighting up??? BRUH

- Ok Teyla and John's first head bonk, ADORABLE. I love that they do that and that's their thing ya know? Like it's her people's thing but the only expedition member she does it with is John as far as I can remember.

- Episode 3, THE INTRO ARRIVES AND IT IS BEAUTIFUL

- gotta say, the personal forefield thing is a lil inconsistent, like the coffee can't touch his body in the slightest but he can grip the cup? Could be that they're expecting the viewer to assume the forcefield is creating a gap between his hand and the cup and just left out the sound and green flash, but idk

- Jinto (Ginto? I'm not sure how it's spelled) is such a fun character, I wish he was featured with the other ethosians after the move from Atlantis :/

- I love how Sheppard, Teyla, and Rodney all start to really become a team already in ep 3 with the shadow creature. All 3 not knowing eachother really at all, but after everything on the wraith ship and now with this creature threatening everyone on atlantis, they come together and we see their strengths as individuals and their ability to work together using them. Plus getting to see Rodney really step up and be selfless really gives you a new view on him after his appearances on SG-1.

- idk if it was intentional, but Ford being in the infirmary and not with the other 3 could be some serious foreshadowing for later. I mean him not being there while the majority if the team forms really does not set him up for success being the fourth. Don't get me wrong, I adore Ford, I just also think that Ronan fits the team better and provides a better dynamic.

- I kinda love how there's no discussion shown about Teyla joining the team, she's just on the next mission with them. After the 3rd episode it just makes sense ya know?

- iratus (aratus?) bug, then eventually John literally gets infected and starts turning into a wraith cuz of the retro virus? Bro cannot catch a break

- gotta say, the audio balancing in this show is not my favorite, I always have to crank it up by like 10 when it's all talking and then am immediately auditorally flashbanged when the action starts 😂

- I know it's all serious and shit but Rodney and Ford getting tossed around the back of the jumper is fucking hilarious, especially knowing that they themselves are throwing themselves around

- UGH KAVANAGH

- "don't talk to me about screwed!" Teyla's face at Rodney, PRICELESS. Like, do you not see the man paralyzed with the bug on his neck sapping his life force? Stfu

- omfg I never noticed before but when they're running up the dirt hill from the wraith in John's flashback of the bug attachment, Teyla grabs his arm to get up the hill because the sand is constantly crumbling 😂

- Weir putting Kavanagh in his place, PEAK.

- "you're telling me he can't go through the gate while that thing is on him?" "Then we must do something NOW" THE DRAMA, I LOVE IT, THE MUSIC AS BECKETT EXPLAINS THE PLAN, UGH, SO GOOD

- man even though everyone was fine you can see on Halling's face how the fact that Weird didn't allow the ceremony to happen affected him. Like, would it have sucked for the rest of the people on the ship to be told to prepare to die? Yes, but Teyla might have felt comforted by it, we don't get to find out. Really foreshadows all the conflict that occure between the cultures because of their differences later on and how the expedition's culture is always the one that gets its way. The Athosian's really get the short end of the stick in their relationship with the expedition members for like, the entire show :/

- OOF and it only gets worse with Ep 5 when they think there's a spy and only after basically accusing every Athosian of maybe colluding with the wraith (literally the biggest insult you could ever say to an Athosian or really anyone in the pegasus galaxy), do they find out about the necklace. Not to mention the tension when Bates accused Teyla and all that goes down I mean, YIKES.

- ANYWAY

- I will never get over the fact that they fucking TAZED a wraith dude 😂

- ok so they've captured their first wraith, but I always wondered why they never bothered to try and capture another iratus bug. I mean, they already theorized in its first appearance that they're some sort of prehistoric ancestor to the wraith and they're easier to contain and handle than a whole ass wraith so why no let study it? I think they do later when the whole inoculation thing happens but I guess idk why they wouldn't take the opportunity to study something like that off the bat. Even just to study the regenerative abilities.

- bro episode 6 makes me so sad every time, the ancients really just decided to tell them to off themselves in order to get to their version of heaven instead of something asking the lines of maybe, idk, don't have too many kids or something?? Don't stray outside the field?? Anything else??? I'm sure the ancients had some sort of birth control, maybe share that tech??

- is it just me or does Keras 1000% have a crush on Sheppard? (Who could blame him tbh) I mean, the smile he gives him at the end???

- brooooo not the Hoffan drug event 😭 it's so sad dude, the desperate attempt to save themselves only for it to kill a huge chunk of their people and lead to them fleeing their planet as the wraith attempt to wipe them out.

- ya know, they keep that wraith in the brig for a while and there's no bathroom in there, do wraith even need to use the bathroom since they only feed on life force? If they eat regular food does that mean they have to use the bathroom?

- ok ep 8, underground, absolutely one of the most infuriating episodes imo. The Genii are great antagonists, but god damn are they infuriating about ittttt. Tyrus getting himself killed in the wraith ship and Teyla getting blamed for it??? Don't even get me started on Kolya and Sora dude.

- ya know, I find it interesting how they differentiate scientists and military personnel in the field initially. It changes at some point but right now the scientists are in the tan color while military are in the dark navy. They obviously have the color coding back at atlantis with the color blocking, but the field stuff changes and I think that's interesting.

- the cocooning thing the wraith do to save victims for a later feeding is such a horrific and unique thing to add to them as a species and enemy. Like, that's so cool in such an awful way, they really nailed making the wraith scary dude.

- man it's so weird to see this version of the wraith ships, they're so much more techy than fleshy

- ok so ep 9 "Home", always confused me for one reason, Simon and Elizabeth. They mention him like once after his first appearance I think with absolutely zero follow up. He's such a weird like Checkovs gun fuck up (I think I'm using that right, he's like the opposite of "if you mention a gun it should eventually go off"). His relationship with Weir is never flushed out further and it's all so weird.

- something I really like about the episode is how right off the bat there's hints that something is wrong after they believed they dialed earth. Like, when Weir comes through the gate into the SGC she's alone, but in the briefing room suddenly McKay is with her. Of course things only get more confusing from there once we see Sheppard there etc etc.

- can we all agree they did Teyla so damn dirty with her hair rn

- ep 10 THE STORM OMFG. I am SO excited for this episode dude let's goooooooo

- THE DRAMAAAA, god the scene is set so perfectly, the coming storm, the danger, the empty city, GAH such a good setting for what's to come

- the fucking bacon convo between the two guards PFFFFT, I love it so much dude

- Rodney slickly leaning on the intercom to alert Sheppard is just so good. I love those two SO MUCH dude. Those two can do fuckin anythinggggg.

- Sheppard yelling at Kolya over the walkie in the wind with the waves crashing, god he's such a badass and everyone fucking KNOWS ITTTT

- I FORGOT IT WAS A 2 PARTER. I'm even more excited about The Eye, shit is about to get REAL.

- Rodney standing between Kolya with the gun and Elizabeth, I love that man dude.

- "Oh would you look at this?! That is just never gonna be useful again!" - Rodney McKay, being dramatic as per usual and I love it

- John sheppard literally in the rafters waiting for the Genni FOOLS who thought they could take him. Bro really saw those life signs disappear and whimpered "report...". He knew true feat that day.

- McKay's sign "REALLY REALLY DANGEROUS, DO NOT TOUCH.". Sheppard 👀... imma touch it

- the way weir grabs Kolya as he presses Rodney against the railing, heavily contemplating throwing him over. She couldn't possibly stop him, but the way she tries and runs to grab him after he's released, so wholesome dude.

- "are you telling me to shut up again?" "Again."

- "turn. around." "You turn around" "what?" "Well if I have to turn around, you should turn around." Sassiest mf alive.

- Bro the final grounding station being sperated and everyone all at once realizing there is only one place to go, the control room. Everyone in the same place, the culmination of the entire ordeal. Have I mentioned how fucking AWESOME the sound track is for this show??? Because DAMN.

- ok Sora pisses me off, but the hallway scene with her and Teyla where she comes at her. Dude the emotion and reckless abandon she has confronting her, it's so good. Plus Tesla's entire lack of fear, she knows she can take this girl down in a heartbeat and she will if she has to, but she doesn't and god that's so badass.

- "you said this would work!" "I DON'T KNOW IF YOU'VE NOTICED BUT I'M AN EXTREMELY AREOGANT MAN WHO BELIEVES ALL HIS PLANS WILL WORK"

- "I'm not aiming at her" fucking shoots the dude dead on, SUCH A BADASS DUDE.

- the lightning through the halls, the apocalyptic size wave heading for the city, AHHHH (wave is a lil janky looking but still dope)

- "nice work Rodney" "did you ever doubt me?" "Yes, several times"

- man the ancient weapons platform satellite was introduced a lot sooner than I thought! Now I'm sad because I remember that part.

- this episode (12) is both awesome and like, depressing af. Seeing Sheppard go one on one with this wraith who's been trapped on a planet alone thinking only of eating and escaping is so intense. Not to mention the wraith that's just eaten the two scientists he was supposed to protect. I also absolutely love Ridney wanting to go out and help Sheppard despite his background as a scientist and general phobia of... everything combat related. Also can I just say that this episode is HELLA FORESHADOWING (intentional or not) for S5 E19 - Vegas??

- oh hey, it's the bugs from that one SG-1 episode with Cadet Hayley.

- bro Sheppard realizing there could still be a Wraith on board

- the fact that this Wraith was also one who was actively part of the war with the ancients and his last interaction was that of combat, bro is out for bloooood

- watching Sheppard shake tf outta the bandage trying to unravel it only to still slap it on on top of the strap at first. How are we supposed to believe this mf actually tied that onto himself XD (jk John is amazing he can do anything obviously)

- almost blows himself up 2 seconds later

- there's gonna be a post where I talk about the wraith extensively but I have to say that I just love how multidimensional they are. Like the ones without masks aren't just soldiers or mindless drones for their queen, they're smart. Like this wraith is just boping away in the controls of the lantian ship, activating the forecfield, figuring out how to use a human gun. It's horrifying in such a cool way! A monster that gives even adults nightmares that is smart dude, that's so dope.

- I don't think people talk about Rodney witnessing Dr. Gall's death in this episode. I mean that's gotta have fucked him up dude. You can see it in his face afterwards. Then he has to go from that to confronting a wraith that's trying to kill Sheppard and he does. No hesitation he goes out there and opens fire dude.

- ooooo episode 13, the death by fear shit

- I love seeing Rodney in a leadership position. Is he an ass? Yes, but he is genuinely a fantastic leader. I don't think he should run Atlantis or anything, but he's fantastic in a second in command type deal and I love seeing it.

- dude Peterson is THE WORST dude. He's 10000% the mf in a zombie movie who hides a bite. Like I get you're scared but you're endangering literally everyone else.

- seeing the city quarenteen on its own once Peterson gets out of the damaged sensor area is so cool. I know it's all coding and stuff but man do they have a fantastic way of making the city feel alive.

- I don't understand how the red hazmat suits Sheppard and Teyla put on do anything. They're not sealed, like the hood is just kinda slapped on there. Carson's teams suits look sealed but theirs? Idk I wouldn't trust that

- ugh I really do not.like episode 14 y'all. There is literally zero chemistry between the ancient lady and John, it is so forced it's PAINFUL. Also another prime example of how the ancients are massively pompous self important dickheads that caused almost every single massive problem we see in stargate istg. Wraith? Their fault, replicators? Their fault and thus the annihilation of the asgard, their fault. Anubis? ALSO THEIR FAULT. Also probably like a lot more that we don't even know about cuz those fuckers have been meddling with the universe for a long ass time before getting wiped out.

- bro Sheppard believing this random ass person over RODNEY, will never not piss me off. This man has been there for you no matter what and you're not even gonna give him the benefit of the doubt that something is up with this complete stranger??? HE'S ABSLUTELY RIGHT ABOUT HER TOO OFC.

- the way Rodney starts walking towards Sheppard as he runs off to get a jumper. He wanted to go with him so bad 😭

- ok there's gonna be a rant in another post about the ancients rn, I'll put the link here

- "ah, that's what I thought, freezer burn." ABSKDJSKA RODNEY

- 1 x 15 is a pretty meh episode to me overall, but "that's not what happened, not the first time" and the whole flooding scene are pretty damn awesome

- the way I would immediately cry if I got there and realized we were fucking underwater dude, hell no. Then when the flooding started??? I'd have a heart attack before I drowned.

- Rodney staying behind, working until the end, duuuuude 😭

- the fact that Weir chooses the jar Sheppard gave her for her birthday to put her ashes in...

- ep 16 man, the one off insinuation of romance with McKay and the archeologist woman is so weird first of all. Sheppard seems to be the only one who agrees with that (jealous?)

- the other woman with them who rats em out to Kolya, UGH. DUDE.

- Sheppard not wanting to let McKay go alone with Kolya, so cute

- bro poor Carson being tasked to dog fight a damn wraith dart 😭 he's a nervous wreck in the best of days dude

- my question is, how does no one notice the piece that's hiding the last stone in the map? It's clearly a slot, like, come on now.

- Sheppard and Rodney getting side tracked about the Mensa thing, TWICE 😂

- they way Rodney looks to Sheppard after hearing the news of the wraith dark and loss of a jumper and crew. Teyla doesn't, no one else, we're shown Rodney looking to him.

- ok ep 17 is the whole preparing for the hive ships thing, this is leading up to 2 of my absolute favorite episodes (siege 1 and 2)

- they finally fixed Teyla's hair!

- duuuuude, seeing the hive ships for the first time, not to mention the cruisers with them, WOAH. The sheer size and quantity of them.

- watching Ford's video tape knowing what's about to happen in Siege pt 2... ouch.

- Carson losing it trying to tell his mom he misses her 😭 I love that man

- Teyla and Sheppard clashing over their ideals due to their background is so good. I love that they show their different viewpoints, never really pushing for one being right or wrong. Then for them to both have to sit and watch the culling happen before their eyes, a mutual, horrible feeling of helplessness.

- "you didn't say anything that would require security clearance did you?" "Security clearance?" 😂

- Rodney's entire video tape

- Dr. Weir's recordings to inform the families of deceased expedition members 😭

- UGH, KAVANAGH.

- The final snippets of video ahhhhhhhhhh

- SAM

- bro ep 18 is STRESSFUL AF. The revelation about the source of Tesla's powers, the conflict with her and Bates, finding out there's been a god damn WRAITH in the city THE ENTIRE TIME since the dart showed up.

- I know it's a really short scene, but Teyla and Sheppard sparring is still a favorite. It just shows once again how much they truly view eachother as equals, far too often are female teammates viewed as less, weaker, in need of protection. Not these two though, they don't hold back with eachother, they know that the other can take it and they continue to push eachother to be better. I love them so much. Not to mention how much they value the thoughts and opinions of the other.

- Rodney and Teyla running into eachother at Dr. Heightmeyer's office and him immediately making up a ridiculous excuse is so so Rodney.

- Ford making fun of Rodney making a tiny dick joke about him only to be SHUT TF DOWN by Sheppard is so funny

- Teyla being confronted with a fact she's been running from her whole life is so heartbreaking. She's connected to the Wraith, the species who has terrorized and killed her people and countless others throughout the galaxy for thousands and thousands of years.

- getting pretty much confirmation that the wraith created the damn wraith, angerrrrrr

- ok rq, Weir just said that according to the data from the lab, Wraith don't seem to be able to read the minds of humans even though they have a telepathic network, but they can on some level. We saw it in episode 2 when Colonel Sumner is being interrogated by the Wraith. Not only did she kinda read his mind, but she got so inside his head she was able to force him to kneel just using her mind! Maybe this is just cuz she's a queen (it's mentioned in that underwater power rig episode queens are significantly more powerful mentally than other wraith.), but still, it is entirely within their ability to read and influence human minds on some level. Even without the experimental stuff done to Teyla's ancestors.

- what's with everyone getting sedated in these shows

- UGH. BATES MY GUY STOOOOOP.

- I totally get that the Ancients are basically gods to the people of the pegasus galaxy, but Halling expecting the people of Atlantis to risk letting the Wraith get to the Milkyway out of faith? Faith that people who abandoned their galaxy over 10,000 years ago leaving the inhabitants alone to be repeatedly harvested and tormented by creatures they created? After all of that, all the horrors he's seen, the people he's lost and he wants them to risk letting it happen to a whole other galaxy because the Ancients might have a plan??? BRO.

- R "Oh yeah. Yeah that's permanent back damage." Peter "Sorry, I assumed it would come on more slowly." R "Well you assumed with my life." (He's so sassy I love it)

- I love the satellite trio so much, I wish we could've gotten more before... sadness. Also, how TF did Miller snap the pencil that easily???

- PETER NOOOOOO 😭 the way that they say they'll see eachother after the fight is so devastating dude, they're saying it for eachother but they both know he's not making it out of there alive and it breaks. my. heart.

- god, watching the first wraith ship be destroyed, everyone filled with joy and hope that maybe, just maybe they can win this fight. Then the wraith ships start to turn and Peter can't get the satellite back online and they all know exactly what's about to happen. Rodney tries to come back for him anyway but it's too late, it was always going to be too late but it doesn't make watching the satellite be destroyed any less devastating. - poor Rodney man, dude already doesn't sleep enough, but now he's been awake for days already and still running around being the only reason any of these plans have a chance in hell. He needs a nap and a snack asap.

- "So long Rodney" you could write this off as Rodney being the person who happened to be in the room when he decided to man the jumper manually, but I think we all know that's not the case. He's run off in silence without so much of a word to anyone more times than I can count, but Rodney, he has to say goodbye, even if it's a crappy one.

- "You let Sheppard fly that jumper?" God he is so heart broken in this moment, he never had the chance to stop him but Elizabeth, she has the opportunity and she didn't. I don't think he ever could've truly forgiven her for that if he'd died.

- Ford... his storyline makes me so sad, especially in this episode. The character we love so dearly, this boy who has seen war and conflict and violence and is still so full of joy and love loses himself before our very eyes. Before the eyes of his friends and there's nothing they can do to stop it.

3 Ships You Like: in a kim dojka & yoo sangah platonic life partners phase rn. god. they would get married but not because they particularly care about marriage, just to bypass the hoops the government makes single people jump through in order to adopt kids, but kim dokja would seriously hesitate for the sole reason that him marrying yoo sangah would make all three of his parents very happy in a way that he would find incredibly annoying.

ok i'm doing another platonic one: moon & ember! i have read the few existing moon & ember fics so many times i can no longer separate them from canon. their dynamic is everything 2 me. bodyguard & anger translator. damaged hottie with trust issues & naive little pretty boy who just wants to go home. moon sees ember as not just a romantic rival but also a threat to his place in the colony, and of course being moon, his reaction to that is not to challenge ember but just to assume that he's been replaced and that he has to start over again alone. ember is everything that moon is not, everything he's convinced he's supposed to be, but ACTUALLY they're both perfect the way they are and there's room enough in this court for the both of them. they are so powerful when they combine their complementary skillsets for the good of the colony. plus i love that every time he interacts with anyone moon is probably thinking, "ugh, i bet EMBER wouldn't be fucking this up"…but also he's defending ember when stone makes fun of him and offering to challenge the reigning queen on ember's behalf! he's protective of ember even as ember embodies everything that makes him insecure. meanwhile ember thinks moon is the coolest person to ever exist and also. extremely cringe. probably 25% of his pillow talk is him subtly trying to convince pearl that moon is just a little birthday boy who should be allowed to be a hugely oversensitive weirdo, as a treat.

people have been rbing some of my cherry magic posts recently so i've been thinking about kurodachi again. i miss them! they're so well matched, so complementary in the ways that they need to grow, and it's lovely to watch them help each other do that. the way that adachi is inspired to make an effort by kurosawa's continuous striving for things he thinks he'll never get, and the way that adachi's apathy for perfection frees kurosawa from his need to be worthy…like ok fine whatever i am listening!!!

First Ship Ever: i have been sitting here trying to think of an earlier ship so i can avoid embarrassing myself, but if i'm honest it's probably ron/hermione. moving right along.

Favorite Childhood Book: when i was a kid i had meticulously curated my top ten favorite books, but now i can only remember half of them: island of the blue dolphins, the witch of blackbird pond, ella enchanted, walk two moons, and mrs. frisby and the rats of nimh. can you tell i had one of those bookmarks that listed all the newberry award winners and was working my way through it? lol.

Currently Reading: i just finished my reread of maskerade, the discworld book about the opera, which i had put on hold after reading le fantôme de l'opéra. it wasn't one of my fave discworlds as a teen but i think i'm now in the right headspace for it. enjoyed it quite a bit!

i'm near the end of both the traitor baru cormorant by seth dickinson and par amour by valérie tong cuong. the latter is about a family in le havre during wwii and is very hard to put down. i have honestly no idea what will happen in the remaining two chapters except the nazis are going to lose the war. the traitor baru cormorant is well done, but i don't think i like it enough to read the sequel. (i still am pathologically unable to stop a book that i've started, but i've just discovered that i am capable of stopping after book 1 of a series. life hack!!)

Currently watching: natsume season 4 dub! i just watched the moon-splitting festival arc and the baby nanase episode yesterday. next up is the one about natsume's picture of his parents which. like. let's just say i am marshaling my emotional forces for that one.

also it is about to be march madness! selection sunday tomorrow babey!!!

Currently consuming: the great thing (sarcastic) about living alone is that you spend four hours making this quinoa black bean dish and then have to somehow eat all of it before it goes bad. luckily my neighbor and i have been doing this cute thing for the last ~6 months where we share whatever food we make with each other. this has been working out extremely well for me, because when he cooks i get to eat without having to do anything whatsoever, and when i cook i don't have to worry as much about quantity. i feel like i tricked him into it somehow even though he is getting exactly the same thing out of it as i am.

Currently craving: a baked good i made for the first time recently and then made again two times in rapid succession because i (and my neighbor lol) liked it so much: gingies! okay technically the recipe calls them gingerbread cookie bars, and i just looked up "gingies" (to make sure it's not an offensive term for redheads that i don't know about) and apparently it's frequently used for gingersnaps, but MY use of "gingies" is right and correct and all these other people are idiots. the reason is that they're basically brownies (texture/structure/technique-wise) but with the gingerbread flavor profile instead of chocolate. and "gingeries" sounds stupid, so gingies it is!

God, I try, but I'm so bad at it. I always feel so awkward about comment replies. I wish I could just click like on them and leave an emoji or something. I do try to get to as many as I can, though.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I dunno if you'd call it angst exactly, but I've written a fair amount of noncon where the "bad guys" win. Probably Experiment XB-20, which ends with someone finding out they've been getting repeatedly memory wiped and then nonconned, shortly before getting memory wiped again.

What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I write a lot of happy endings, tbh. Let's just say that the large majority of my fics end reasonably happily for most participants involved. (With a few notable exceptions.)

Do you get hate on fics?

You would think I would. I write a lot of unrepentant noncon, often with underage characters. I write RPF. I write incest. But apart from the occasional "wtf" comment, I've so far managed to avoid attracting significant hate. If I did get a hate comment, I would just delete it. I am too old for drama.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Fuck yes. All kinds! I have been writing smut since I first started writing fiction. Stephen King once said, in response to a question about why he wrote horror fiction, that if he and Louis L'Amour both visited a lake, Louis would write about cowboys herding cattle near the lake, whereas King would write about a creepy lake monster; that's just how their brains work. Well, I would write about people having weird, power dynamic-y, kinky sex near the lake. That's how MY brain works.

Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Not really, but wouldn't rule it out.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I have occasionally had people report to me that my fics were stolen and nameswapped. AO3 has been pretty good about taking them down quickly though.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Many times, yes. I hope the translations are good! I have no real way of knowing.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I have not, and have no real plans to do so.

What’s your all time favourite ship?

Ugh, I ship so much. SO MUCH. Honestly, probably Peter Hale/Stiles Stilinski. It just works for me. Age gap, characters who are smart as fuck and morally gray, power dynamics, and werewolf powers. It has everything.

What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I have most of a novel-length fic written in the Harry Potter fandom. It's post-War and Snape comes to stay at Grimmauld Place while they're rebuilding Hogwarts. Ginny Weasley is the only person there at first, and they kind of circle each other warily at first and then come to a cautious detente, which turns into a bit of a friendship. There's something weird going on with the portraits in the house, though, and when Snape notices it, there's an action sequence that ends with him getting them the fuck out of Dodge and going on the run. I actually love this story, it's entirely drafted and 80% written, and I just had to work out a couple plot issues at the end. And then the HP fandom kind of blew up and the creator turned out to be one of the literal worst people in the world, and I just don't know if I can ever bring myself to finish it. We'll see.

What are your writing strengths?

Uh. I....don't know? People seem to like my fics for the most part, but I'm not sure I could nail down exactly why.

What are your writing weaknesses?

I repeat myself too much. I say the same things repeatedly, over and over again, reiterating on a theme. But joking aside, I swear I spend half of my time in editing removing stuff like this.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I'm fine with it, if it fits the characters and it works. I prefer it if there are either a lot of English cognates so you can kind of work out what they're saying, or if the author translates it in the author's note.

First fandom you wrote for?

Harry Potter. I found a shitload of Hermione/Snape fic, read as much of it as I could find, and then thought, you know, I think I could do at least as well as some of these? So I tried my hand at it and have never really quit writing fic since.

Favourite fic you’ve written?

I'm saying two. One is Crown of Neon Lights, because I love the characters and story so much. And the other is Bondmate, same reason. But really I love most of my fics. They are like my precious babies and I adore them all. tagging (pls feel free to ignore) @whimsicalmeerkat @jammerific

They'd have such a fascinating dynamic... plus with Shinigami in the mix it'd be so funny. Yuma's a magnet for trouble and I can imagine Yomi just continually flabbergasted over just how much trouble Yuma brings to the table accidentally. Not to mention how much Yomi himself brings, being on the run in a city he can't leave

I've used to like have. Very. A Lot of those Yuma + Yomi forced to interact aus, most notably

Prrrreetty much same premise as this one, except Yomi doesn't get booted out the company and it's just Yuma wandering around (alone) (fucking loser) until he accidentially ends up somewhat benefiting the peacekeepers with his instakill torment labirynth powers when he uses it once after arriving in KW in front of them and now he's stuck working for the guys if he wants to keep his spleen. Nobody has any fucking idea about him having a pact with a shinigami of course (most of them thinks its some extremely op forte. they do have other theories though. some of them scarily close), but all Yomi has to know from his Polite Interrogation is that if Yuma can stop time to solve any mystery and if he succeeds the culprit drops dead. He has lost his only hitman so far just a few days ago (F.Zilch/Aide rip in fucking rest) so Yuma sounds like a great deal and a decent replacement, especially with his killings being instant leaving zero marks -- while he won't ever truly replace Aide as one of his closest advisors and the person he was to him, (and Yomi will never hesistate to scream at him about it every single day) (but he still simultaneously treats him like one, why couldn't you act more like that dead guy that really liked me that you will never be like no matter what you do, you know his death matches what you did to that other guy right when we first found you? if you really did kill him too which I already made up my mind about you must really make up for that sin by filling in the hole he left which you can never do by the way, and by acting like you can would be insulting his memory (and me) almost as much as it would if you didn't even try, anyway here's your paycheck for this week *hands him 30000 shien which makes Yuma feel slightly better*), as long as he can keep killing people and being such a pleasure to have at meetings (but be careful!). Yuma's main "job" is to find out the identities of people (or just the exact intricacies of their actions) who are actively wronging or interfering with Amaterasu corp and then make them go poof. Though Yomi never sics him on Huesca despite complaining about him so much, for some reason. Yuma is so stressed the whole terrible, no good, very bad time he's at KW, his health starts rapidly declining, and due to being extra irritable from being tired/in pain constantly he turns into a really unpleasant person to be around which makes most people avoid him except for a few select people (that are fucking unhinged btw. which makes him feel even worse), that coupled with regularly being exposed to Yomi's radioactive miasma and slowly getting desensitized to death via being a hitman, he starts thinking hey maybe murder is ok actually sometimes like you know theres nuance yknow... That doesn't mean he doesn't still retain some of game Yuma's overall kindness he had even if he wishes he could stop caring (ugh why do i have morals this sucks), he's not like, a terrible person per se the way Huesca or Yomi (admittedly, sighing emoji) are, he's just. Yeagh. Sometimes he's got a good day and he decides today he's gonna try and mediate between Makoto and Yomi again so his shit boss would get himself together and stop yapping to him about his shit boss every day because he doesn't have the patience for this this is so stupid I do not care who started it now go hold hands and apologize to each other or let me disengage from this situation please. I don't know how much aware Yuma is of Makoto wanting him obliterated too, but it sure must be interesting at the headquarters with this homoerotic hatred triangle. I had way more to say originally but this is getting *scrolls up for a brief moment before starting to sweat* Long I've got the paragraph text limit and had to delete it lmaoo

The Yomigami au I also posted about earlier where essentially Yomi is Shinigami and you will never ever in a million years guess who the director is instead. Originally a joke but then I started thinking and as you know this is usually where it all descends downhill into the madness. Anyaway canon Shinigami was morbid already and had a morality far removed from humans, Yomi/gami is just cranked up to 100 with all this and sprinkle some sadism on top. He purposefully drags Yuma out every day to get involved in as many cases as possible until he just has no choice but to enter that labirynth (fun bonding activity). Yomi/gami is also EXTRA against Yuma working for the resistance in that one chapter, he really really really hates criminals and poor people and especially poor criminals dohya's so scary guys let's go Kokohead let's leave this pit :(((((( anyway putting all the funky labirynth details I got aside as to not make this too long, canon Shinigami already was pretty lonely (in that book (gay baby jail) for an ambiguous amount of years) before but in her own way focused on what's best for Yuma's growth as a detective even if they'll have to part ways eventually. Yomi/gami is not like this even if he doesn't act like he cares abt Yuma he's not just gonna let him leave so he can rot in the book in total isolation again just a few weeks after he got out of it. He does everything in his power to impede on Yuma's progress and get him as far away from the reason he came there for so their contract will last longer he's latching on he's a parasite he's lonely. He would NEVER suggest to Yuma that he can stay in the labirynth in chapter 5, he HAS to reap Makoto's soul there is no other option. And if Yuma did by any chance choose to do so anyway, Yomi/gami is absolutely not letting him take the emergency exit he'd rather let him die in there than to let him leave and just move on without him and forget he existed at all lmao. You could go anywhere you want to see others like you and have anyone you could desire I only have you do you really hate me so much you can't stand to know me any longer is that why you're so eager to abandon me the first chance you get. That is so cruel of you and makes you even more of a terrible person you already are for killing so many people for your own selfish pursuit of the truth but it's okay because I'm the only one who could ever understand you and why you've done all this and forgive you even if you don't deserve it because we're bestiessssss foreverrrrrrr <33333 in short: it's a trashfire. Vivia and Makoto both wish they were never exposed to whatever this is and that they remained oblivious for the rest of their lives. Having a lot of trouble with the ending though since I cannot decide between whether 1) Yuma Fucking Dies if I can't have you no one can *compresses you into a cube and yeets it directly at Makoto's skull 2) Yuma has to epic battle his 1000+ yr old weird shinigami buddy on creative mode so he'll let him get his memories back (yomigami voice that you willingly gave to me you knew the terms very well why are you suddenly going back on your word huh. huh??) and Yomi/gami just kinda accepts any relationship he forms with anyone is never gonna last and just goes back to sleep until somebody else wants a temporary pact with him again 3) secret third option where nobody's depressed and Yomi/gami gets to have some kind of way to avoid being isolated forever and start forming longer lasting connections with people that doesn't require Yuma to set himself on fire to make him warm but I'll be honest chief I have no idea how they could possibly do it. So that's that. And before anyone asks: Yes this is yaoi to me

A lot of other smaller yumayomi/kokohell AUs where they mildly enjoy each other's presence, widely ranging between "actually somewhat surprisingly healthy" and "good lord somebody stop them from fucking killing each other or dragging anybody else into this shitshow they got"

And this one of course. the one who started the yuma + yomi madness <333333333 One detail about it that managed to actually stick (so much about it im just. continuouslyc changing ksdhgyrsjsg) is that Yuma gets much more involved with the resistance after being in Dohya for that long before just kinda stopping or avoiding them because uh, *gestures at the hellsmile he's currently in close proximity with* you know. And yes the dynamic would be unparalleled Yuma has no normal friends. They never get a moment of peace before bringing another disaster onto themselves it's always fucking something... Id say something else but i used up all my energy now brain not work anymore defeated looking emoji. A glimpse into my fucked up yomi/yuma mind I will milk them forever

I was so torn about this…but finally settled on something. I have many favorite episodes. But because I’ve been losing my shit about it again recently, I have to go with Salva El Tigre 2.1

Why it’s important to me? God, where do I start????? I mean, what is there not to love???? This episode gave us so much! It’s so layered and so many stores are being told, ending, and beginning. Dynamics are shifting, changing, being challenged it’s just - ugh it’s so fucking good! There is so much said but 10x as much without words, with body language, with glances.

Side note: as a writer, it inspired 2 fics of mine: Sin (complete, Miguel, Pacho, f reader) and The Past, The Present (Miguel, Benjamin , f reader, on hiatus but will come back).

Back to the prompt: It’s the episode that keeps giving,👏🏾 every 👏🏾damn 👏🏾 rewatch. Pacho’s entrance???? GOLD! The whole damn scene in the church???? GOLD! All that delicious tension???? The contrast of the party & the crews kidnapping mission… chilling ass Verdin (but why was he - redacted to save my soul)

It’s a 10/10 for me.

I love this song. We see more of the party now, while being at Amado’s back. It pulls us in. The opening notes of that song work nicely, like anticipation growing , pulsing (in a fun non scary way) with each step deeper into the scene, then officially bringing us in the heart of it (as we follow Amado, Cochi, and Chapo in). Plus it’s so fun, how can someone not love this song! I dance whenever I hear it, yes on rewatches too! Even if it’s just in my seat.

Scene: Miguel joins the party- Edge of Seventeen by Stevie Nicks

Let me start by saying, this fucker inside that big house by himself, as the party rages on, was great. It said so much without words, and I think, was such a good glimpse into his mind & mood. So once he did finally emerge, it had to be a good song, that’s a given. All his scenes in this episode have this heavy feel to them, so coming out to this song adds this lightness, like a projection of what the party should feel like. What it’s presenting as.

I also can’t help but think about how alone asshole (Miguel) is and how he isolated himself so much with his decisions, actions and treatment of others. Yeah that place is full, but that man don’t have no friends (his fault). And these lyrics feel so fitting for my train of thought m “Well, then suddenly there was no one - Left standing in the hall, yeah, yeah” like sure, he comes out like a king, on this grand staircase, everyone is clapping, all these people to greet him - buts it’s not real.

i stayed awake until 5 today and woke up 3 hours later my sleep schedule is so fucked up 🧍🏽‍♀️ but WHO CARES HAHA ITS NOT LIKE IT HAS LONG TERM EFFECTS ON MY HEALTH!!! (i am dying) (i am literally sick and dying and my lack of sleep is making it worse)

anyways a few days ago i was reading babtqftim again and like… idk why but i lowkey found mickey’s relationship with boris super uncomfortable …???? idk if anyone else will agree because i’m probably just being delusional but STILL. i just found it super weird for mickey to try and just isolate/separate boris from his own brother because he has the illness like???? i mean i get that he’s like trying to protect boris or something but it was written in such a uncomfortable manner that i can’t describe.

it was weird to me because it started off as just boris meeting mickey which is awesome but then delved into something uncomfortable with mickey being all like oh my boris oh my poor baby i will protect you and remove your brother out of your life— not to mention how uncomfortable it felt for mickey to suddenly up and ask boris to join him knowing that boris would hardly be able to say no, especially with their power dynamics.

UGH IDK I SWEAR IM JUST BEING CRAZY BUT IT IS SO WILD TO ME THAT MICKEY CARED SO MUCH ABOUT THIS RANDOM KID ON SUCH AN INTIMATE LEVEL JUST BECAUSE HIS BROTHER IS SICK…. plus it just felt yucky because he already made boris feel indebted to him by allowing him to use their facilities to take care of bendy when he gets sick. i am 99% sure i just read too much into the writing and characters but it just started to feel so weird to me and it only got worse when bendy starts getting suspicious of mickey which was SO valid btw idk why anybody wasnt on his side. maybe as an older sibling i relate to his perspective because if some grown ass man who is also my brother’s idol started to try and take him away so he couldn’t be around me AND started spoiling him to try and change his mind i’d be hella suspicious of the dude too.

all in all i think it was just the weird saviour complex mickey has that made me uncomfortable and also that literally nobody would validate bendy’s concerns about his 12 y/o brother’s safety 😭

Xiaother/Aexiao (Xiao and Aether) Al Haitham/Cyno (Haino/Cytham) Beigguang (Beidou/Ningguang) Ittosara (Itto/Kujou Sara) Chilumi (Childe/Lumine) fan

For ships I just like though it'd be Jean/Diluc, Kazuha/Scaramouche, Aether/Scaramouche, Albedo/Aether, Kuki/Heizou, Bennett/Fischl, Albedo/Xingqiu, Chongyun/Hu Tao, Zhongli/Guizhong, Eula/Amber, Xingqiu/Xiangling and Gorou/Kokomi. I'm kinda starting to like Kaeya/Dainsleif too.

Ships I hate most people know: Any Venti ships outside of KazuVen (Cause Kazuha is the only character I could see working well with Venti and being good as his partner.)

I hate Cynonari so much it's so boring as a concept: friends to lovers is a lame trope.

I can't stand Xingqiu x Chongyun while I like their dynamic to a degree and I think the ship makes perfect sense I hate how the fandom has made their entire relationship "two gay twinks" 🤢 (They're not even twinks the definition of the word directly contradicts what the fandom keeps saying about them being underage not that I expect Genshin fans to read.)

Razor x Bennett another ship the fandom has ruined. The shippers are rude as hell and they never get called out. Their relationship feels like a friendship nothing about it screams gay.

Kavetham because it feels like the two of them aren't allowed to have their own characters without being called gay and it's exhausting.

Eimiko same reason as Xingyun honestly. Plus I find it hilarious how everyone will call Yayato an "illegal" ship because of the age gap and power imbalance as if Eimiko doesn't suffer from the same fate. Plus Yae was raised by Ei so.. interesting.

Jeanlisa terrible ship name/terrible fans.

Zhongchi most of the fans don't listen to the actual chinese fans when they say that Zhongli giving Childe chopsticks was not an act of love. Also I just think the ship only exists to sexualize both guys as much as possible.

Ittogorou I just ugh I hate this ship it's so overly sexualized like I like gay ships with an abundance of romantic tension. Plus it only exists because of one voiceline and an in game joke that isn't funny and reminds me of why I can't stand Yae.

And the ships I don't like/don't get [just as a sort of bonus]

Scaramona I'm pretty sure it's an enemies to lovers thing but I don't get it.. I know they had an event together I just don't get it..

KokoSara another enemies to lovers my favorite trope but they're so professional with each other I can't find it cute at all.

Alberose they have no chemistry 😐

Ganqing I just find them both so boring that I can't like any ship with either of them.

Zhongxiao I mean I see them as father and son but they're canonically not so yeah they have a good relationship but like.. it wouldn't be very healthy either way.. cause Xiao treats Zhongli as this always correct force above him and it's a little too imbalanced power wise.

Dainlumi I like the dynamic without liking the characters together.

And any ship where they have never had any in game conversations/ have no voicelines for each other. I don't get any of them Childe/Diluc, Jean/Ningguang, Thoma/Diluc all of those I don't get it.

I'm pretty sure after this no one ever has to ask me what ships I like and don't like again.😂

And as the niche comes more alive with a super thickening plot, let's try to curate the scenes in my book, shall we? Side Note: I am fully aware that there are so many controversies about this sub cult, however, it's but another art form on its experimental x postmodern era. Why do I love drag race? The tuck is just so pivotal. And I see the kweens as babylans. Ganern. The duality of these creatures are soooooooo lovely to watch especially when they share their crazy stories that can go south, north, east, and west.

1 Ongina x HIV x Mac Viva Glam Campaign Challenge: This is where RPDR got me. Uwian na.

2 Reveal Violet Chacki: I had an era where plaid and jumpsuits are divine. Actually, until now, I love both! Seeing Violet made me believe there's more to the typical drag race cult.

3 Trixie Mattel and Katya: Super duper loooveee these girls because they don't look typical. And they look good even outside drag. Very butch. Also, they proved that they don't need a title to be on top. Trixie won All Stars naman din, but she remains relevant even now. Ang galing. Katya naman, super culture queen and again, super strong personality.

4 Pearl's nonchalance: Pearl is easily one of the prettiest faces. I think she was the first one who irked RP on air, or is it just me? LOL. What I love best about her is ang gwapo niya and ang chixxx niya talaga kahit walang effort. HOHOHOHOHO.

5 Kandy Muse and Monet X Change: The plus-sized ladies with unapologetic personalities. Periooodddtzzz. As punggok and a towering girl, galing nila magdala tapos very vulnerable and vocal din nila. Very kanal with a twist.

Living vicariously through them because my new body shape as I am fucking aging is like me getting to know me again. JUSQ. Apparently, from pear-shaped na punggok, NASA hourglass body type era na ako. Shemay. Gusto ko ng pabawasan 'tong dibdib kasi mhie, nakaka-ugh siya tignan. Ang tagal ko na napapansin neto to the point na parang gusto na lang ni RP na siya lang ba ang POC na may spotlight? There have been rumors na baka kaya nanalo si Symone is pressure and shift din ng power dynamics, socially speaking. All her outfits are soooooo well thought of. Nakakabilib pati her acting skills and everything else.

7 The Vivienne: An ode to Europa, iba ang kweens ng UK. As in. Hahahahahaha. She is such a vibe and very good din siya in representing her breed. Baka need ng deep dive neto kaso 'di naman masyado nage-gets cult nila din.

8 Jinx Monsoon: My baliw-baliw babyyyy. She is soooooo crazy na feeling ko 'may ka-wavelength ako. Pero syempre, living vicariously through her kasi 'di naman ako marunong ng sing, dance atbp. LOL. Everything about her is just magical to the point that I watch content outside the franchise na mga interviews and podcasts niya. LELS.

9 Sasha Velour: Super looooooveee her because her vision and execution are always spot-on. Superlative talaga. And she's known to have no wigs pero pakkkkakkkk na pakkkakk. She's a walking art talaga.

10 Utica: Isa pa 'tong super duper atypical na napaka evident sa Snatch Game na kadire na as Bob Ross. But her sleeping bag runway look is just sooooooo elevated.

11 Gottmik: Isa sa pinaka crush ko kasi naman her story is just sooooo divine. She's also this tiny babe na ang ganda ng voice and sarap pakinggan ng podcast nila ni Violet. Bagay sila pero parehas pasuyo kaya naman, baka naman or baka naman hindi. Hahahahaha. I love her looks pero obvious na ginastusan talaga. My fave looks niya is 'yung runway na 'di umano, USD 8,000-ish dripping in watches, 'yung dalmatian, 'yung parang santo na may sapi, atbp. LOL. 12 Raja: Super crush din because I loveeee that she embraces age and she ages gracefully. HUHUHUHUHU. Gwapo pa in all levels! Very Asian pero poppin'!!! LOL. LUL. Hahahaha. For the PH franchise, I think that it deserves another post because kakatamad mag-isip and watching all sesons para naman mas pakkkkkk. So what? LELS. This is a reminder that the queer life is the best life. Salamat sa lahat ng seasons dahil more than the kanal, kabaklaan, atbp na kadire side, this is a statement. I can't imagine a world where queers are literally crucified, died, and buried. And even when PH is still very tolerant lang rather than acceptant, andyan naman Taiwan or HK e for you know... making things legally binding, just in case. LELS. Hahahahaha. LUH. Let's not go there because alam mo naman. LOL.

today I learned how to say dinosaur 공룡. Hella hard. I also ordered some cool Adidas Sambas, which are objectively sick as fuck

On a less "sick as fuck" note, I saw an Instagram post that really fucked me up. I was doing well, and then all of a student single unhealed thing from the last 2 years was triggered. Let's pump the breaks and be my own big sister for a second. If we can't be sick as fuck, we can at least be as objective as fuck. 1. "I don't daydream of you anymore, but I think of you when I wash my dishes." 2. " Do you tell our story fondly?" - "You were never the villain in mine." 3. " I never wished you ill. I hope you find the peace I never was" (this one fucked me up the most) 4. "In another life, we learned to talk. I was unhurt, and you healed." So here I am, sitting on my bed at 12:16 in the morning, feeling stuffed full and minorly sick from stress-eating bread and cookies all day, and all I want to do is call him. Or text him. Or know if he still thinks of me, too.

But I can't do any of those things because he wanted this, and I must respect that. Sure, I could call him, but what's really the outcome of that? I must reground myself. Let's lay out a little play-by-play of how it will go.

I will call, and he might not pick up. Then I'll be super emerased and that will lead to a whole other string of questions. "Why didn't he pick up? What's he doing right now? Is it because he's asleep? Doesn't he want to talk? Playing hard to get? Is he enjoying this? Does he hate me? Oh god, this is embarrassing, Emily. Why did you call him, ugh, stop this, look at yourself..." and then I will cry myself to sleep. Woohoo. But, if he does pick up, he may say, "Hey, what's up?" And I'll say, "Not much, you? And he will say, "Not much, how are you?" and then I'll lie and say, "im good", and he will know im lying because if I wasn't, why would I be calling him? And we might talk, and I'll embarrass myself by saying a bunch of stuff promoted by that sad Instagram post at 1 in the morning, and then he will pity me, and say something like "it's okay, you're doing great", and then ill feel guilty for putting him in a situation where he comforts me despite his own pain, creating this power dynamic and yadda yadda yadda.

That's not what I want. Plus, I can not relinquish the single sliver of power and self-dignity I have left. I have no one but myself. I am all that I have. Just me. I don't really feel like I have any true friends because I don't think myself capable of having real friends while I hate myself as much as I do. Apparently, it isn't normal to wonder if your friends hate you all the time. Maybe i should start with loving myself, or rather, becoming a person I feel is worthy of love. I have come to realize that I really am not happy with who I am as a person.

And what would be the outcome of this phone call? What is the "best" situation? We get back together? And then what? Trapped back in this endless cycle - on and off, to either be together forever or inevitably break up again? Is that really what I want? To feel this pain all over again in a few months, years, decades? Thats it. There are only 2 ways relationships can end. You are together forever, or you break up. What the fuck is up with that. Why is life so short. The bliss of love and despair of loss - those are two pretty harsh extremes to experience in our few years on this earth.

Maybe I can become a monk and figure out what this "love" thing really is about. The only problem is I just don't look good in orange, and they don't drive Porsches. Let's put a pin in that one. I must re-ground. This is hard, but everyone goes through it. Things weren't perfect (although the negative memories seemed to elude me, annoyingly).

Considering that I'm likely just speaking into the void, I'm just gonna jot down the shit I've figured for my Untamed daydreams here lol

OC is a Jiang Clan disciple who started off accidentally befriending Yanli, which then quickly escalated to being close to the three siblings

OC is at least close to Wei Wuxian's level power wise and just as sassy; the two of them together makes Jiang Cheng flip his shit very often but OC is also the one person Yanli trusts to control her lil bro when he's on the verge of being extra unreasonable

(I need to rewatch the beginning again cuz some details have faded so how she ends up going to Clouds Recesses is a mystery right now; been working under the assumption that she was only allowed to go under the guise of keeping Yanli company specifically, so she's not actually attending the lectures when it's going on. [I am currently second guessing this but I really don't recall Yanli being at the lectures?? Ugh])

Anyway, assuming she isn't actually at the lectures, one day OC bothers Wei Wuxian for a copy of the Lan Clan's 3k rules for funsies

Cut to later when Lan Wanji finds her with her own written copy of the rules, but it's only the ones that she personally believes actually makes good cultivators, and ends up explaining her thought process to him when he doesn't leave (something about some of the rules aren't things that can actually be changed about a person like temperament and trying to make people conform to them can be damaging in the long term, plus some other stuff that I seem to have forgotten atm)

While thinking idly about if any of the other cultivators present would potentially have a crush on her during the lectures my brain fuckin screamed "NIE HUISANG" and honestly I couldn't dispute that, so that's a thing lol It's one-sided as fuck though

Like I had the mental image of the crush being revealed cuz the fucker has no poker face atp and Wei Wuxian just laughing at him cuz (and this is very silly and clumsy but thoughts are weird) OC's the "girl version" of himself and she would also laugh at Nie Huisang if it ever came up so might as well save himself the heartache lol

I've just been having fun imagining her dynamics with everybody c'=

Her and Jiang Cheng is especially fun to play with, to the point where I can't actually imagine her ending up with anybody else? Which is strange cuz I didn't really plan on romance being a thing. Like, I ideally would've gone for Wuxian but I do feel bad about ruining the soulmates ;; Ah well

I still need to have a very good think and probably write shit more coherently than whatever mess I just put down here lol

you're a real one for liking the part with Rumple and August, I always thought that was a real lovely bit of storytelling, it was just such a brilliant look into the way Rumple wanted so desperately to see his son again and how much he craved forgiveness ugh I cry every time I watch that scene with him and August in the forest

one of my very favoritest parts of Rumple's story is Gideon. There's something about him in that series of episodes that is just so beautiful. He does the thing where he turns his dark powers towards love, he doesn't stop doing the morally dubious things but he's doing them to keep Gideon from having to do them, and he's basically the only person who never gives up believing that Gideon is good. The way Rumple sort of tests his mom with her curse, not really trusting her but going along with her in the hope that maybe she'll give him the family he wants so badly, is one of the most interesting things to me, because you're right, it's love, it's the desire to have family, to have people to love and to love him that motivates Rumple, and that bit showcases it so nicely.

I have many thoughts about season 7 but I will say I love the direction they went with him in that. Having an immortal being suddenly having to live with the implications of loving a mortal woman, and realizing he doesn't want to live with them anymore, even though he has power and magic and could go on for thousands more years, and finding a way to get to her without burdening anyone else with his power, is just such an amazing story. And it kind of puts paid to the idea of him being a coward because it's tremendously brave of him to guard his dagger and remain alive even though he could just let a new Dark One come into being, when all he wants to do is die and be with Belle again. (plus, that season spawned my captaincroc obsession, so I have to give kudos to the writers for the weaver/rogers dynamic lol)

What's your favorite part/element of Rumple's story arc?

SHSKSHS HOW DO I NARROW IT DOWN??? THERES SO MANY ELEMENTS I LOVE. Okay I’m gonna put this as a few points here.

My top favourite element, the first thing I thought of, is his relentless battle with himself for goodness. He is half and half, half himself and half the dark one. And he’s been this way for centuries, so of course it’s an ongoing battle that’s not easy to drop. He continues to fight it, continues to try to be good, even when he has moments of weakness. He picks himself up again and continues. Whether it’s for Belle or Neal, he doesn’t stop trying to be good. Isn’t that so human of him? Rumple believes himself a coward, but it’s so brave to continue to try to be good when you have a dark curse latched to your soul and the world is seemingly saying “hey, goodness is impossible.”

My second thought is how STRONG his capacity for love is. He takes the curse of the dark one for it. He battles against the curse because of it. When he becomes the dark one, one of the first things he does is end the ogres war and free all the children. He didn’t have to do that. Baelfire was not on that field, yet he did it anyway. He dies for love. He lives again for love. He continues to fight to keep his loved ones safe, even if that means he risks himself. He spends what, 300 years (?), living alone because of his love for Baelfire, because he’s so determined to find his son. And sure it causes some problems. He loses Belle because it’s either her or his magic, and his magic will lead him to Bae. He causes people to hurt because his capacity for love is so fucking strong, it’s never going to be a mild thing. It’s everything or nothing. He dies TWICE for love. And we can’t forget, before Rum became the dark one he gave what little he had to beggars and took care of his emotionally abusive wife, even when he could barely stand with aid. He crippled himself and ruined his reputation for love. His capacity for love fills him to the brim and I adore it.

Final point is: you mentioned his story arc, and he has many? It twists and turns a LOT. So far I’ve focused on elements but I think my favourite arc (and it’s HARD to pin down) is the bits with him and August in s1. And you might be thinking “Bella, that is a weird fucking choice” but hear me out. With August he faces what he’s feared for so long: that his son hates him enough to try and murder him. And he takes that wholeheartedly, actually goes to therapy for it, and approaches who he thinks is his son and delivers a heartbreakingly emotional speech. And even when he realises August isn’t Bae, after their little dispute, he reunites August with his father cause at the end of the day, Rumple is always going to be papa and he can’t stand to see lost children screaming out for their parents, whether that’s actually screaming out or a haunting look in their eyes. That moment of kindness? In the shop when he invites August in and Marco is there? He didn’t have to do that, but he did it anyway. Why? Because Rumple is a good man. He saw a lost child and it reminded him of his son, and isn’t that the point? Neal is his driving point. He is what makes Rumple good.

(Bonus arcs for your consideration: ALL of Skin Deep, the Neverland arc is hauntingly beautiful. And we get Goldstiltskin. Beauty in s7, oh- and that one moment where Rumple says to Emma “please, he’s my son” in s6 about Gideon. Heart wrenching. When he faces his mother and says the world is dangerous because of villains like her and himself- the tone in his voice and the look on his face!! I die inside. And finally, and this is more of a funny bit than a ‘deep’ bit, but that one scene in Underbrooke where he introduces Milah and Emma to each other always cracks me up.)
