So I know Penguin was probably just making a crack and didn't actually think Batgirl was Batman's little sister, but tbh it could potentially be a good secret identity diversion for both of them if they played into that assumption. Let everyone think Batman's got a kid sister he's finally decided to let tag along on missions, and then pretty much nobody would be looking at Bruce Wayne and Barbara Gordon as potential suspects, since neither one has any siblings.

no but really, I think it fits him really well! I had thought his UM would probably involve something kinda sleight-of-handy or pickpockety! and I looooved that it made such a nice loop-around back to episode 1. ❤️ I was. kind of half-expecting him to just run out and punch Riddle in the nose again. but instead this time 'twas he who offed the queen's head! it was great! and he did it while stone-cold terrified out of his mind! because Ace is the only remotely normal or well-adjusted person at NRC and therefore the only one who is like "we're going to literally die, this is super effed up". but he did it anyway!!!! I AM SO PROUD

[just a heads up but I got a whole lot of text below for some thoughts/ramblings and headcanons of the event lolol]

Ngl, I was kinda expecting that he's dead since he did give off some vibes that he's from a distant past

But I was still hoping that I was wrong and maybe he's really just from a distant or isolated island, and he'll pop up at the end of the story as one of the visitors during the Halloween event KAJSHDAKSLDJH

That or maybe he got reincarnated

The idea of Skully as one of the ghosts in Ramshackle is so nice and sad at the same time though. Like imagine if he's just hovering around the academy for years and then after some centuries or so he senses some sort of familiarity with certain students and just watches over them. Then when Yu came around he got the urge to protect them and stick around them the most.

So maybe when the students got suck into the book he also got dragged into it and he gets to see his younger self and the whole event that happened as a ghost, which is why when they finally got to leave he gets to remember the whole thing. Then he kisses everyone like he did the first time around as another greeting because he finally knows why they felt familiar! (Although they don't remember he doesn't mind-)

And he did it as a 'it's nice to meet you in the real world this time' kind of thing

...

Anyway

This is why I might try to be on a lookout for some Oc x Skully or Yu x Skully because I think it has so many potential and possibilities with this ending (Reincarnation AU? AU where Skully is a ghost in Ramshackle who's looking out for Yu and is the one who protects them, which is why they leave fights unscathed while everyone just thinks they're lucky? Modern AU or one when they meet once Yu is able to return home from Twisted Wonderland?????) 😭😭😭 His ending was kinda bittersweet ok, I want to see things turning out in a happier note

- Rhysand isn't revealed to have been a villain/ bad guy the whole time and it's made aware he manipulated Feyre the whole time!?

- SJM doesn't stop over sexualizing her characters and ships, and writing ships/ relationships in a way that's toxic asf!?

- Doesn't get Nesta, and Elain and possibly even Feyre (I've kind of become anti Feyre but it's only because of how much she's changed cause of Reece's Cup) out of and away from the Night Court and Feysand and doesn't make Nesta break up with Cassian and hopefully find someone much better for her and get a happy ending!?

And . . . .

- Doesn't give Tamlin a healing arc and a happy ending with either possibly Nesta or Elain or Lucien x Elain or someone else but kills him off!?

And . . . .

- Makes Elriel endgame and has Nessian continue to be endgame?!

And . . . .

- Makes Feffiesand High Queen and King?!

. . . . . . . . . Then SJM isn't as good of a writer as she thinks she is and wasted her potential as a writer and ruined her own books, I already think she has in some ways but there's still hope depending on what she does next!!!!

More thoughts about that psychic connection.

I know I've talked about the "psychic connection" between Lydia and Betelgeuse before, but since I'm a sucker for such soulmate links between characters, I thought I'd write a little more.

It's all speculative, and that might have been just a fun line for Betelgeuse to say there, adding to how hopelessly in love the poor guy is with Lydia. But what if they do share a connection?

In this post I want to speculate a little about how this connection formed between them, and when, and what it may mean.

If there is such a connection between them, I think it formed after their wedding in the first movie. Hear me out, the ceremony was basically complete; they just needed to be pronounced husband and wife, when Barbara showed up with the sand worm. So I believe there was a soul link between them that was being formed that night, which remains, although half-formed, until this day.

This ritual would have made it possible for Betelgeuse to have free access to the world of the living, so whatever metaphysical mumbo jumbo was going on there, it was powerful enough to bridge the world of the living and the world of the dead for Betelgeuse to cross from the latter to the former in full power (assuming he'd keep his ghostly powers upon gaining access to the world of the living; he might just become a regular guy, who knows. Still, restoring his body so he can walk as a living man again must require a lot of power).

When the ritual was only a step away from being finalized, it just left that link between Betelgeuse and Lydia which he eventually realized he could use to watch her from afar and try to reconnect with her. Call it a residual of sorts that was left when they were almost married the first time.

It may have only been possible for that link to remain or even form in the first place due to Lydia's own ability to see and communicate with ghosts, though.

As a matter of fact, as I mentioned before (because we all know how I'm a sucker for all the soulmate stuff lol), it may even be Lydia keeping that link between them alive, or even making it possible for it to exist. I have this headcanon that subconsciously she keeps calling him and allowing his presence around her all the time. She may sense a bond with him that she's currently unable to consciously notice. Betelgeuse feels the same bond and openly embraces it; he's an ancient, powerful soul, so he can see how the two of them are just meant to be together. But yes, I already totally talked about this in the other post.

More headcanon stuff: At the end of the sequel, when Betelgeuse shows up in Lydia's bed (and possibly in her nightmare, too, unless they were sharing the same dream), that it might've been Lydia's subconscious calling him right back to her after she banished him. There's a part of her that never wanted him gone. We can see how her face looks conflicted right after she sent Betelgeuse away. We can also see how her face went from scared and disgusted, to confused and surprised while they danced during the wedding scene. Lydia's heart was no doubt swayed, but she's struggling to come to terms with it. (You can clearly see how she's thinking "what the heck it was for real? This guy really loves me??" I totally didn't notice that the first time I watched that scene).

Anyway I'll leave this one up to here, lest I start repeating my points from the previous post (which I'm already doing, oops lol).

My Tl;dr for this post: Their psychic connection might have formed right after the first wedding, due to it being almost finalized. A link was formed and remained between their souls. Lydia might be keeping that link alive and calling Betelgeuse right back to her, subconsciously.

there's a moment in lesson 45 of nightbringer where mc falls off a thing (again?? is this foreshadowing?? i'm going to rule-of-three this and wait to see if it happens again) and satan tries and fails to grab their hand to catch them, but now i'm imagining the same thing happening with satan and ik except he does succeed, but it's her right hand and the prosthetic just POP comes straight off

Right so… prison break. The question I set out to answer for my scavenger hunt is: Would Techno’s prison break plan via the toilet have worked?

And the answer is interesting… for starters, despite Dream informing us that there is an elder guardian right under the cell [clip], this is not true. The elder guardian is actually right above the cell, with one further away under the middle of the entire lava chamber [more details on prison guardians].

Which actually makes their escape even easier (well they’ll still have to deal with the mining fatigue, but with how many guardians there is and their proximity that probably wasn’t going to end from killing the one guardian anyways). The most efficient way I found, is actually digging behind the cell (remember how Sam was doing that in Daedalus) and crawling. Not only is there red stone back there, and an opening, but also that direction is the shortest distance to the outside. Using this method Dream only has to break 14 blocks total (11 obsidian, 2 black stone {red}, 1 iron bars {pink}) [details on breaking time], making his (absolute minimum) total breaking time 286 hours or roughly 12 days. {the red stained glass panes note which blocks he would break}

As an aside, Foolish actually got pretty close to breaking in [far right picture] and had he gone from the back wall instead he probably would have succeeded lol XD.

If however, rivals duo instead continued the path they were on, they would actually find that the cell is essentially floating, so the water would seep under and turn some of the lava into cobblestone. (Interestingly, there is existing cobblestone already down here, a detail Sam notices after Techno escapes and finds Dream in the water hole [clip]. If I had to guess, I’d say while setting up that stream in creative they actually broke more blocks to make it more believable, but noticed how it was hollow, so plugged it up but neglected to fix the cobblestone, and instead made up some canon reasons why they hadn’t made more progress [clip] [clip])

Anyways, if they did mine down there, they could break some cobblestone {lime} and do some crawling under the cell. Using the open space down there they’d want to make as much progress towards the back wall as possible before going down under the lava and then digging straight. If they did this method, they would have to break 24 blocks (22 obsidian, 2 cobblestone {lime}) and it’d take them a total of 566 hours or roughly 23 and a half days. (It should be noted though that in this path Dream would be swimming (holding space bar) while mining so he doesn’t drown - I’m pretty sure this wouldn’t cause him to starve, but still would be annoying and realistically rather exhausting.) {diamond blocks are to show which block above would be broken, with diamond ore representing cobblestone - wanted to make sure you can see where the water is}

Course these are what I found to be the most efficient ways, they could of course chose a different direction or break different blocks, increasing their escape time. Additionally, these methods only work as long as Dream is left alone long enough and(or) knows when to crawl back out when they come to not draw suspicion. So to give Dream some credit, Techno is a necessity for this to work at all and he couldn’t have done it before(or after) without risking major problems…
