Heyyyyyy so I know I disappeared off the face of the planet for like a month there but IT'S FOR GOOD REASON. I'm going through college applications rn and SATs and the whole gauntlet so yea. Also: hyperfixating on a new fandom

and then Netflix had the gall to go and FNDUGNSVGING CANCEL THE SERIES and of course I only found this out AFTER I watched all the episodes and was so emotionally invested in these idiots that I think I may have cried when I found out.

and yes I know there's a book series too; I'm almost through book two and I am TERRIFIED of reading The Hollow Boy bc I'm getting bad vibes from the fandom every time someone mentions it. like. Reichenbach in the Sherlock fandom. and Mark of Athena w my Percy Jackson broskis. Violent sobbing in the back of the room, type thing. We got any long-time Lockwood & Co fans here? Bc I need emotional support.

anyways, have any of my fellow fanfic writers ever had the dilemma of "I want to write a fic for this fandom but at the same time I don't feel like I'm a 'member' of the community bc I haven't consumed every available piece of it yet?" idk, maybe that's just a me thing. That's why I'm throwing this out into the abyss.

So what do you guys think, my fellow fic gremlins? Can you always tell when someone writes a fic that they're a new member of the fandom? Is it cringey?

I'm 100 pages into the Empty Grave when Lockwood takes Lucy to see his parents and sister's graves, and the space waiting for him. This is how the chapter ended. My gut clenched. Lockwood's waiting grave had better be empty by the end of this book.

how many of you had already told that please please please by sabrina carpenter is about locklyle? because we definitely should talk about lucy who was told so many times that lockwood and his company is not just bad choice with her abilities but also the dangerous one, that she deserves so much better. and she keeps choosing him, doesn't matter what. doesn't matter how mysterious he can be, doesn't matter how pretentious and mannered he can be. doesn't matter how often he plays his role instead of open to people, how often he wears his mask. she'll choose him. and it doesn't mean that she isn't afraid of opening to him. she also have traumas and of course she is afraid he'll disappoint her. but she still wants to trust him, wants to believe in him.

Locklyle pt. 7 (I think)

Fanfic of the Lockwood & Co. series by Jonathan Stroud. I'm back! Full chapter is on ao3! It's somewhere around 1,200 words and we'll be getting steamy (soon) (I hope)! The chapter is titled 'Foreshadowing', guess why ;) Here's a little snippet (WC: 321)

“Good luck with Mother Hen here, Luce. You won’t catch a moment without him breathing down your neck making sure you’re okay,” George said, as he brought his bag into the kitchen. “There’ll be no need, I’m practically all better now,” she replied. While her voice wasn’t quite strong enough to produce anything loud, which would be a liability in the field, she was now perfectly functional for her day to day needs and she doubted her and Lockwood would need to do much yelling or screaming over the next week. “Besides,” she continued, “After the first couple days, my only issue has been speaking. It’s not like I’m made of glass.” George scoffed, “Yeah, well try explaining that to him.”

“Explain what to me?” Lockwood said, entering the room. His usual white button-up had been exchanged for a black t-shirt and Lucy wasn’t blushing. Not one bit. Just like she wasn’t noticing the swell of his biceps or the broadness of his shoulders. “Jesus, Lockwood, cover up would you? You’ll kill the poor thing! She’s only just recovered,” George exclaimed. Lucy shot him a scowl. “Excuse me there, Cubbins, I’m in holiday-mode now. By the time you and Flo get back, Luce and I will be the image of serenity and peace,” Lockwood said, flipping the kettle on, “Luce, can I make you a cup of honey tea?” George gave her a wry grin. “I can make it myself, Lockwood, thank you,” she replied, ignoring George, and grabbing the bottle of honey from the counter. “Nonsense, I can do it for you,” he replied, moving to take the bottle from her hands. “Sounds like it’s time for me to go! See you on Sunday!” George said with a grin, snatching up his bag and steering out the door. “Bye, George!” Lockwood and Lucy replied in unison and turned back to each other. “I can make it. It’s just tea. I’m not fragile.”

“I want to help,” he responded, taking a step closer to get the honey bottle from her grip. “Thank you, but I don’t need you to help. I’m okay now.”  Her back was against the counter. The water sounded nearly boiled. “I know, but you did need help and I couldn’t do anything then, so let me help now,”
