It's abundantly clear to me that the studio executives are cowards.

We're friends. I promise lol.

I live with my best friend! We're actually day ones and when she started working her current job, I was there with her at her first event. I can't say too much about her, but we've lived together ever since. I'm like... her stay-at-home best friend? Something like that. I earn less than she does, and she bought the whole apartment with her first paycheck, so now I just do everything that a husband would. Basically, I cook and clean on days I don't work and I dry her hair for her after her showers.

She helped me a lot (well, I live in her apartment so there's that) and I just love her so much :(.

The other two in our little group in high school also went into the same industry as her, except in different directions, so we see them every now and then. Sisters before misters or whatever. She and I are 4 lifers.

As for stuff about me... not too much to say. I told you all of my defining factors already. Sesame bun was adopted when we first got the house, so she's like four years old now. Cute little girl. I attached a keychain I ended up winning from another Ada event. I have one already, so I figured it would be better in your hands.

Ada rolls her eyes, going back to her phone to text her relatives again. "Anything you want mailed this time?"

For Where All This Love Comes From: The most fun was the Titanic roleplay moment because I was making myself laugh. I also loved writing the father son scenes - in particular between TK and Owen. Something about them hooked me and I was in the flow each time. I also loved writing Gutiérrez. I'm very taken with him now. I want them to bring him back to the show so I can have more fodder with which to write him.

There are several that are very close to my heart, but I think I have to give it to Fire Island. Technically I think it's good storytelling, but beyond that, emotionally it had a big impact when I was writing it - I read it aloud to my boyfriend before I posted it and we both cried; feedback I've had through comments, asks and DMs has been truly moving. It's about something real, which plenty of readers will remember and have been rocked by in some way. I guess it just feels a bit 'deeper'.

I'd love to write another Tarlos novel over the summer - something fluffy. I don't know if I will achieve that, but I have an idea brewing and I'd be very happy if I manage it. I've also started dreaming up a sequel for When Soulmates Swim. I really only have one image in my head...we'll see what happens!

Breakfast tea with milk. I drink Yorkshire Tea because they don't use plastic in their tea bags anymore. It's a strong brew, and very popular here for good reason.

Hair has to be scraped back off the face, tied up high/held firm by one of those big claw clip things. No styling; not a priority. I'm sure I make for a very sexy sight when I'm writing.

Heyo Jo, I drop another thing into your ask box because I recently watched the Sugar Rush Ride (Japanese version) MV and I've fallen in love with this frame in particular

It's so aesthetically pleasing that it can be used in a moodboard or something 🥺

But it also made me wonder in which part of the timeline we are here. In this one it seems that TxT have come back into Magic Island after "ages" so I was wondering if they're hinting the next chapter (get it? 🤣) into their storyline or not. The amount of butterflies I saw here makes me think so.

Also maybe it's a little obvious but Yeonjun keeps having that little scar/wound on his nose and he looks so adorable 🥺

I remember he had it in other previous eras so I was wondering if there was a connection to it (maybe his characterization?) or it's just a simple aesthetic detail that the visual directors keep adding on him because it's appealing.

Also I listened to Hydrangea Love too.

A soft cute ballad from them I CAN'T I love them 😭 idk if it can be included into the lore because it's an OST 🤔

Also I tried to at least finding some meaning behind the title because we don't have an official translation yet (and I think we'll get one only when Sweet will be released completely) and UGH, they should have choosed another flower instead of the hydrangea, that flower has so, so, soo many different meanings my head exploded when I tried to do some research about it.

Maybe they hinted something in the concept photos by putting some hydrangea there but I suck on recognising flowers so 😅🥲

for the timeline, in the beginning we see yeonjun in his car that got away at the end of gbgb jap ver! he has an incident and gets transported to magic island/neverland. all of the others get transported too from wherever they are and they are able to reunite. so i think srr jap fits after gbgb jap that goes after loser=lover 👍

yeonjun with that scar on his nose is indeed adorable 😔 this frame especially is majestic likeeee look at that 🤯

tbh i think both? it's like the aesthetic of having a band-aid over your noise bridge! but yeah, it's also an occurring theme for yeonjun 😮 honesty i didn't investigate if having a scar on your nose has a meaning 🤔 (if anyone knows feel free to explain it to us <3), anyways, the fact that he always has scars connects to his impulsive and risk-taking nature. and he's also a fighter! in the star seekers his weapon is a sword so he is definitely more exposed to being injured in combat than soobin for example, who is an archer.

**TW for animal abuse, animal torture, animal death**

I don't normally make long posts like this, but I'm hoping that I can help at least one person out.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was in theaters and has been streaming on Disney+ for a few days. The movie is great, btw. It's funny and beautiful and heartwarming. IMO it's the perfect send off for our beloved superhero found family. Definitely worth the watch. And chances are if you were wanting to see it, you already have. But if you haven't yet and are planning to, I want to give you a warning.

IF YOU ARE AT ALL SENSITIVE TO DEPICTIONS OF ANIMAL ABUSE, ANIMAL TORTURE OR ANIMAL DEATH, PLEASE PROCEED WITH CAUTION WHEN WATCHING THIS MOVIE.

I know the animals aren't real. I know they're CGI and no actual animals were harmed. And I know that sometimes we like to poke fun at trigger warnings when we feel like they are arbitrary or excessive. But this is one of the times where I really could have used some. I had no idea that GotG 3 was going involve Rocket's backstory. And if you know anything about his story, you know it is very dark and devastating, especially in regards to how humans treat animals. I've seen plenty of movies with animals dying or being tortured. Heck, I've even watched C*nn*bal H*l*ca*st where real animals were k*lled onscreen. The difference is that I knew what I was getting into and was able to mentally prepare myself for it. And for the record, I didn't handle the deaths in that movie very well either.

Of course, there are extenuating circumstances in my case. A lot of stressors not related to this movie were weighing on me going into it that definitely affected my reaction. But I still maintain that I would've had a much easier time had I known what I was getting into from the top.

This post is my warning to you, just on the off chance that you're like me and appreciate the heads up when it comes to certain topics.

TLDR: Just me trying to help anyone out that might need TWs for certain topics. Those TWs are at the top of the post.

So hopefully it lives up to my expectations a tiny bit lmao.

And yeah no the scene in Donnie Darko with his therapist is so…yeah, at times the movie can be kind of silly with some of his goofy lines and the dated 2000s CGI…but god, his entire existential spiral hit so different.

Lullaby (2022)

From the first scene, I had a bad feeling about Lullaby. This movie isn’t trying anything new. You watch it, you’re disappointed but for better or worse, you won’t remember it very well after even a few days, so there’s no way you could hate this film.

Rachel (Oona Chaplin) and John (Ramon Rodriguez) have just returned from the hospital with their new baby. When Rachel reads a lullaby from a book left behind by her sister, Vivian (Liane Balaban), she and her husband begin seeing things. They have unwillingly summoned the fabled Lilith to their home and she won’t leave until she’s taken little Eli as her own.

Lullaby begins with Vivian and her husband smashing mirrors around their home in the middle of the night until tragedy strikes and their son, Zachary, is taken by a mysterious force. From there, you can predict almost every aspect of this movie from director John R. Leonetti (whose best-known works are Annabelle and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation). Where does the threatening ghostly force come from? It must be tied to that book Rachel received from her sister. Why did her sister send it to Rachel? We’re told it was an accident but you're not convinced. You know everything that’s coming, except for one, which I’ll get to in a moment. Only two things keep you watching. First, the baby in peril. This movie is dull and not the least bit frightening but a small part of you feels tense because the potential victim is so small, adorable and vulnerable.

The second thing keeping you engaged is the monster. We’ve seen countless movies where demons are coming after people but Lullaby does things a little differently. John recently converted to Judaism. Lillith is a Jewish monster and can be repelled with the help of specific rites unique to the religion but if John doesn’t believe, they won’t work. The problem is that he only converted to please his wife. His faith is weak and the monster knows this. The film manages to dig its claws into you through him.

I wish I could say that once revealed, Lilith becomes a reason to see Lullaby but this film doesn’t have the imagination or the budget to make her memorable. We only see two of her grotesque mutant children. Both are brought to life via unconvincing CGI. Even if the SFX were great, it wouldn't matter. On top of the lack of scares, this picture suffers from weak writing. One night, Rachel sees a sinister figure on her baby monitor’s screen. It vanishes in a flash and she immediately tosses the monitor in the trash. If she's that convinced there was a monster there, doesn’t she say anything to her husband? If the camera was "defective", why not return it? He does the same sort of thing too. In one scene, he’s showering and Rachel approaches him for some sexy time. He looks back and sees this horrible crone (played by Mary Ann Stevens), freaks out and pushes Rachel away. When he snaps back to reality, he doesn’t run after Rachel to explain that he had a daymare or anything. We soon cut to another scene for more “I saw something scary, now it’s gone!” clichés but I wanted to see how awkward the rest of their day must’ve been. 

We learn that Vivian sent the lullaby to her sister so that eventually, Rachel would turn to her for help. Vivian’s ultimate plan is to follow Lillith after she’s taken Eli so she can find (and hopefully, recover) her own son. It’s not THAT crazy of a plan and there’s a germ of a scary idea there; that certain familial bonds are stronger than others, strong enough to cause sisters to betray each other. It even leads into a shocker of an ending when we see that Vivian swapped the babies at one point, meaning that although Rachel escaped from Lilith’s lair, she didn’t rescue Eli, she rescued Zachary.

I was almost tempted to give this movie a pass or recommend it as something you'd rent (or even better, catch on TV/streaming “for free”) because of the ending. I can't get there. Well-conceived as it is, the conclusion still doesn’t live up to its potential. We finally get to see Lilith and she’s not frightening, even with her ability to make your eyes and ears bleed once she begins singing. There’s this thin coat of new paint but beneath it, Lullaby is old and tired.

Part of the fun of horror films is relating to the characters while observing them from a safe distance. You understand why Rachel and John are scared of Lillith but you didn’t read the lullaby so you can comfortably sit back and examine what they’re doing to “avoid making the same mistakes”. Lullaby breaks that immersion with its badly written characters. When combined with a lack of scares and a story you’ve seen dozens of times, you’re left with a picture that leaves no impression on you, whatsoever. (November 3, 2023)

In 1994, a year after Paramount launched Star Trek: Deep Space 9 (AKA DS9), J. Michael Straczynski produced the epic known as Babylon 5 (That’s not offering an opinion on the quality of the series (though I do think very highly of it), but more an epic, in a similar vein as the Star Wars saga) Immediately, the battle lines between fandoms was drawn. The Trekkers accused Straczynski of plagiarizing DS9. However, there were vast differences between the two.

Babylon 5 was novel for its time in that it was designed as a 5-season story arc (even today, most “story arc” series will only plan around a single season in case the network decides not to renew the series) The characters evolved as the series progressed and things weren’t magically “reset” to the status quo by the beginning of the next episode as was the norm for Trek (and most other series)

It was also the first space opera series to not use models for its space scenes, instead opting to be 100% CGI in its effects.

...Babylon 5, the last station built as part of the “Babylon Project”, designed as a peace-keeping measure by the Earth Alliance following their near-extinction at the hands of another race due to a misunderstanding (ironically, the project was co-funded by the same race that nearly wiped the Alliance out) The first four stations were destroyed prior to completion (well, the first three; Babylon 4 simply vanished)

Commanding the station (and the representative for Earth Alliance interests) is...

Commander Jeffery Sinclair, who the other race insisted be assigned.

Sinclair’s second-in-command is Lt. Commander Susan Ivonova

The head of security for the station is Michael Garibaldi.

The Chief Medical Officer is Dr. Stephen Franklin

Talia Winters is a member of an Earth Alliance organization known as the Psi Corps, which recruits and trains those with psychic abilities.

As for the other (major) aliens on the station...

Delenn is the Ambassador for the Mimbari (the aforementioned race that nearly wiped out Earth) and is a member of the race’s ruling body. She is more often than not seen as the Voice of Reason among the aliens.

Her aide is Lennier (played by Lost In Space alum Bill Mumy)

The Mimbari were attacked without provocation by an Earth Alliance ship when a show of respect by the Mimbari was taken as a show of aggression. In response, the Mimbari declared war and crushed the humans all the way back to Earth, then suddenly surrendered for reasons they refused to explain.

Londo Mollari is the Ambassador for the Centauri Republic. He is an opportunistic bastard who’s always trying to take advantage of any situation, no matter how small, even when his intentions are well-meaning (such as consoling a friend, then leaving said friend with his bar tab)

Londo’s journey is one of four phases. In season one, he is the comic relief and is often seen as happy-go-lucky (his Comic/Light phase)

His aide is Vir Cotto (played by Stephen Furst, who played Flounder in Animal House), who also serves as Londo’s conscience (whether he wants one or not)

The Centauri were the first race to make contact with Earth and sold them the means to journey to the stars. They were once a great empire, but their power and influence have waned over the years.

G’Kar is the Ambassador of the Narn Republic. G’Kar is a proud Narn who is quick to anger and doesn’t forget a slight (such as being willing to die rather than help an enemy if it means his enemy will die as well (preferably before he does))

The Narn have recently (in the last century) managed to overthrow the rule of the Centauri. They’re still not on the best terms. This is evident in the initial relationship between Londo and G’Kar (Londo claims he had a vision that he and G’Kar would die at each others’ hands)

Kosh is the Ambassador of the Vorlons, an ancient and powerful race whose atmosphere is toxic to the other races, so is always seen in an environment suit. Kosh acts very mysterious, and what he says doesn’t seem to make sense until much later.

The Vorlons see themselves as shepherd of the younger races, watchful of signs that the Balance of Power shifting out of control, often inserting themselves when they deem it necessary, whether asked for or not.

The first season primarily deals with putting the kernels of the rest of the series into place, as well as a bit of flavor that isn’t really mentioned again (such as a holy order of pit fighters known as the Mutai and a galactic quest for the Holy Grail). Among those kernels are a few recurring characters...

Alfred Bester (played by Pavel Chekov himself, Walter Koenig) is a part of the enforcement arm of the Psi Corps and has little regard for non-telepaths. He and Garabaldi butt heads on numerous occasions.

A man known only as “Mr. Morden”, who met with Londo when he was at a low point...

Season 1 ends with not one, but THREE major events that set the rest of the series in motion:

Mr. Morden and his associates begin attacking the Narn, letting Londo take credit for the results.

Delenn activates a device that puts her in some sort of cocoon.

And Earth Alliance President Luis Santiago’s transport is destroyed, promoting Vice President Morgan Clark to the office of President.

Which brings us to season 2...

As you saw in the opening credits, there are changes within the station...

Jeffery Sinclair was reassigned as official Ambassador to Mimbar. President Clark personally gave command to Capt. John Sheridan (Played by Bruce Boxleitner, who played the title character in both Tron and Scarecrow and Mrs. King), who was given the title “Starkiller” by the Mimbari due to being in command of the only Earth Alliance victory during the Earth-Mimbari War in which his ship destroyed the Mimbari flagship known as the Black Star, for which the Mimbari still hadn’t forgiven him. This appointment was made without consulting with the Mimbari, which was just a sample of what was to come.

Additionally, Delenn has emerged from her cocoon, her genetic code infused with human DNA.

With Mr. Morden and his associates’ support, Londo’s standing among the Centauri is growing, making him more ruthless, though a number of his scenes are still played for comic relief (his Comic/Dark phase)

However, not everyone is happy with Londo’s new friends...

Major events of the season include...

A conspiracy in the Earth Alliance that moves the government toward authoritarianism, with a Secret Police force known as the Nightwatch dealing with any who would speak out against it.

A war between the Centauri and the Narn that is sadly one-sided thanks to Mr. Morden’s associates. Until the Narn had little choice but...

As a result, G’Kar is stripped of his position as Ambassador and is forced to seek asylum aboard Babylon 5.

Additionally, Mr. Morden’s associates now have a name: the Shadows, an ancient enemy of the Vorlons. Sheridan and Delenn have pledged themselves and their forces to battle this ancient evil.

Further, a militia made up of Mimbari and Humans known as the Rangers has been formed on Mimbar under the command of Jeffrey Sinclair.

[QUICK NOTE: Each season of Babylon 5 has a new intro, but none of the rest are as noteworthy. Besides, I can only have so many video clips in a review]

Season 3 had a minor change in the major players, and a few new members of the Merry Band...

Marcus Cole is a senior member of the Rangers assigned to Babylon 5 to assist Sheridan and Delenn. He has unrequited feelings toward Ivonova.

Lyta Alexander (who was the Psi Corps representative in the series pilot, but has spent time with the Vorlons (who amplified her abilities) after she saw what they actually looked like) returned to the station after outing Talia Winters as a double agent.

Kosh is killed early in this season, prompting the Vorlons to send another representative, who doesn’t seem to care about the station’s best interests. When asked its name...

Major events of the series include the Shadows becoming more visible in their presence, starting a war between the Vorlons and their allies.

Londo’s influence continues to grow, though he’s beginning to see what his ambition is costing his people as the new Centauri Emperor (that he helped put on the throne) is using the Shadows to wage war in every direction, and Londo is beginning to regret his decisions (his Tragic/Dark phase) and is trying (ineffectively) to distance himself from Mr. Morden.

President Clark has made Earth a totalitarian regime, forcing may of its colonies to declare independence...

...including Babylon 5.

Season 4 sees the end of nearly all of the plot threads at a pace that seems rushed compared to the rest of the series. The reason for this is that the producers were told this would be the final season of the series, so they needed to finish their story ahead of schedule. Despite this, two new characters join the main cast...

Garibaldi resigns his post as Head of Security (don’t worry, he doesn’t leave the show), leaving his second in command Zack Allen to step up. (Zack was a recurring character through most of the series, but now he’s joined the main cast)

Lorien is the last of a race even older than the Vorlons and Shadows. He is acting as an advisor to Sheridan during the last days of the Shadow War.

Speaking of, let’s hit the highlights of the season...

The Vorlons and Shadows are warring openly, destroying worlds that the other side has allied with (or subjugated)

Londo has managed to free not only his race from the influence of the Shadows, but also freed the Narns from subjugation by the Centauri, but the echoes of the Shadows remain long after (Londo’s final phase: the Tragic/Light phase).

Babylon 5 and its allies turn their sights on President Clark, freeing the Earth Alliance from his tyranny and forming an Interstellar Alliance, with John Sheridan elected its first President.

Which brings us to the final season. Yes, after the producers rushed the end of the series because their distributor was cancelling the series, TNT Network decided to pick up the series so they could have their fifth season.

Since the series had already done what they set out to do, there was a lot of flailing around to set up potential spinoffs and TV movies (there were two TV movies, including Londo (now Emperor) telling a story to Centauri children that was pretty much a prequel to the series, as well as a spinoff series that was cancelled after a handful of episodes)

Despite this, there were a couple of casting changes...

Garabaldi returns to the fold, becoming President Sheridan’s Head of Covert Intelligence for the Interstellar Alliance.

G’Kar is revered as a prophet, much to his annoyance, and later serves as a bodyguard to Prime Minister Londo Mollari.

Speaking of Londo, he is working hard to undo what was done by the Shadows in the Centauri’s name. However, there are forces at work within his government that are working against his efforts.

Finally, Susan Ivonova has left Babylon 5, so the newly-elected Earth government assigns a new Commanding Officer, Captain Elizabeth Lochley (played by Tracy Scoggins, who played Cat Grant in Lois & Clark)

okay here is my full spoiler review of the third ant man movie after i saw it twice. i will be tagging it so you can block those tags if you don’t want to read about it.

Okay, so i really loved the movie. i don’t know why this movie is getting so much hate. let me break down what i loved about the movie and what i didn’t:

i loved kang’s character. i hate that other people are saying he’s supposed to be bigger than thanos and how ant man defeated him, but that is one version of kang. there are other kangs who can be bigger than thanos, and this one isn’t up there

it also has to do with the fact that kang doesn’t know what to do with the quantum realm since he’s never been there (as far as i know. i haven’t read the comics). he isn’t powerful down there, but scott, janet, hank, and hope are. they have the advantage, which is why they beat him so easily

he was exiled there, he didn’t go there by choice

and it’s the fact that kang isn’t dead. scott even says so himself that he doesn’t think kang is dead. he got sucked into the core at the very end, and while i don’t know this character, some people are saying he becomes the beyonder which can be of use to the avengers in the kang dynasty

it’s a good way to start off phase 5, and i can’t wait to see kang come back in all kinds of ways

i loved the quantum people. i thought they added a good balance as they fought for their realm since kang was never supposed to be there

i loved the humor in this movie, especially when ant man was looking at all those possibilities when he was about to shrink the core down. the ant man movies has always been about humor and good banter, so i’m not surprised they used it in this movie

those two end credit scenes have me high on life. i loved seeing all those kangs coming together and plotting against the avengers. i’m not sure what their plan is for the multiverse, but i know it’s going to be good

also, that teaser for loki season 2 had the whole tehater gasping when they saw tom hiddleston on screen. truly so excited for that season!

what i didn’t like:

while i like the idea of modok’s character, i absolutely hated that it was darren cross from the first movie

so, i thought scott had killed him and made him implode on himself, not send him to the quantum realm. darren was a terrible villain, he didn’t have depth to his character, and he was truly the worst thing about the first ant man movie

the fact that they brought him back made my skin crawl. he was about as useful as he was in the first movie. the cgi didn’t do him justice at all. i went to go see it with my sister, and she was not impressed with it as well. we both found it really weird

i’m a fan of kathryn newton (mostly from supernatural), but i don’t know how i felt about her being casted as cassie.

i don’t know why they decided to go with a different actress for cassie when they had one for endgame. the one from endgame (i don’t know her name) looks more like scott, she had a lot of emotions in that film and i felt like she could have been a better cassie if given the chance

with that in mind, i don’t know if i liked the way kathryn took cassie’s character. i get she wants to help and she has a suit now and has been dabbling in the shrinking tech hank had for the five years scott was gone, but i feel like she didn’t bring enough for the character

i know she is being set up as the next ant man for the young avengers film and for future projects, but her acting seemed a bit one dimensional, in my opinion 

WHY WASN’T LUIS IN THIS MOVIE?! i saw a post about someone wanting luis to come in at the end credit scene and explain what happened or explained the kangs by talking really fast. they truly missed an opportunity

i hope they make another ant man movie because i loved this trilogy. scott didn’t die, so there is potential for another movie!

TLDR: This is a marketing tool to sell dolls

So, I finished the live-action Monster High Movie last night.

It was fine. Like everything it has its pros and cons which I will be covering.

And I don't know why this is the camel that's breaking my straws or whatever the hell-- but if I see one more hyperbolic clickbaity thumbnail or post describing why this is somehow the "worst" movie people have ever seen, I think I'm going be arrested. I've binged all of the monster high shorts, and 3D animated movies, and my brain is complete goddamn mush at this point. The live-action movie isn't even the worst thing associated with the monster high brand. Like to the veteran fans who have been here and are saying that this series used to be "better"-- What crack are you smoking, just curious? Like this series has been straight-up nonsense at points because it's meant to sell toys first and foremost. I want to highlight the whole nostalgia goggles we tend to wear and tell you what it actually is. It's bias. just call it what it is, it's bias.

There are a few different reasons why this claim of Gen3 or the live-action movie, in general, being toted as "the worst thing ever" gets under my skin. I'll be trying to engage with this movie as well as most of the marketing choices with this new line of dolls in good faith. Versus assuming every misstep or mistake is somehow an attack. During this long tangent of a post, I want everyone to repeat to themselves "this is a show meant to sell toys to children; I will not send death threats over this."

To immediately get this out of the way, if you're mad because they made Frankie Stein Nonbinary/Trans, or if they made Draculaura chubby? I'm sorry but you are beyond even my help-- get well soon.

I mostly want to address the criticism of the changed art style, personalities, dynamics, and interests of the characters themselves. I guess why this is exhausting for me because as a long-time fan of other franchises which has canon routinely altered to adhere to trends or the whim of new writers, this happens a lot.

And I've seen this trend of trying to pigeonhole each new reboot of a beloved franchise as either the "best" or "worst" thing ever. And sure enough, when a good thing like Rottmnt is there, it's canceled before anyone actually realized it was worth a second look, even though the animation and voice cast was always on point. Or in Voltron's case, while met with initial praise, it tried to please everybody, while pleasing nobody. Nobody likes change, I get it.

Personally, I wish we had fewer reboots and more of an emphasis on original projects these days, but then how would we buy dolls?

Speaking of the Monster High Dolls. One thing I find hilariously hypocritical about people criticizing the changes made to the characters complaining about "coherency" and the like-- You folks do remember that this series was made specifically to adapt horror icons from the famed Universal Monster library and Gothic Literature characters into teenagers who attend school, make out with each other and wear gaudy clothes? Like again you guys are watching a derivative of a derivative! Like Monster High is a high school AU of HG Wells, Mary Shelley, Robert Louis Stevenson, Bram Stoker, and GREEK MYTH!

I can understand the reservations to like the reboot, but I can guarantee you it's a more faithful adaptation than Winx: Fate or River Dale. It doesn't even scratch the batshit wildness that either of those series tried to pull. It's not entertainingly bad. The movie is genuinely decent. All the actors look like they wanted to be there and they all deliver their performances (especially Frankie's) with energy and charm.

Yes, the effects, costumes, and make-up are cheap, but I'd rather have cheap makeup done by unionized compensated workers with ambition than CGI everything. If anything it reminds me of my favorite made for TV Halloween movies from my childhood, like Scary Godmother or Halloweentown.

I guess what I'm trying to say, for a commercial to sell me a new line of dolls, it could have been a lot worse.

Sonic the Hedgehog Movie 2: POTENTIAL TEST SCREENING

 A couple weeks ago, a Reddit User under the name “Madethis4Sonicmovie2” created a post discussing their test screening experiences on the second Sonic the Hedgehog film. Throughout the discussion post, the Reddit user explains that they are not a Sonic fan. Most of what the user writes was how they’ve interpreted the scene and their understanding of the lore through some games that they’ve played. That, and they also try to compare some of the scenes to DBZ, a franchise that they’re much more familiar with. The user also make it a point to state that they view themselves as a “harsh critic,” though do apologize for it. They’re also not used to critiquing children’s media, which they also state a few times in their post. If they’re not clear on what they saw in their test screening, they ask for the reference meaning to the Sonic Community. The Reddit user also says that they did see the first film and greatly enjoyed the second one better.

Even though they believed for the film to be a generic kid’s film, they believe that this film will appeal to fans and non-fans more than the first one did. 

There wasn’t much of a summary to go other than reading about the emotions and some of the trivia that they’ve seen. Most of the film was still in its post-production stage. Some scenes were not complete while others needed tweaking on lighting and shading on the CGI characters. The overall impression that they’ve received from the film was that it was very enjoyable with much more world building. Because it’s done a good job with explaining certain scenarios to the audience, the Reddit user believes that it wouldn’t be hard for outsiders of the fandom to understand. The only thing that some audience members would struggle with in the film were the inside jokes that long-term fans would understand.

The moral of the movie is “if you believe in yourself, then anything is possible!” On a side note, the Reddit user believes that this theme applied more to Tails rather than Sonic, stating that Tails has a moment where he gains enough courage to help Sonic fight.

Though the Reddit user does debate that Sonic has more confidence in himself than he did in the first film. He’s still the “Sonic” seen in the first film, him being a kid, but he’s learning to understand the role of being a superhero.

There is placeholder music and licensed music in the film as well. No mention so far of Crush 40 appearing in the film.

The Reddit user explains that Jim Carrey nailed the role! They also explain that Dr. Robotnik is a complete maniac.

(This is an open definition to viewers. It could range from comical to something darker).

Dr. Robotnik invents a teleportation device.

Dr. Robotnik also dresses in black clothing like he did in the first film.

The Reddit user supports this remark by detailing a scene where Dr. Robotnik loses his cool a bit when returning to Earth and complains about how he was outsmarted by a “rejected Dr. Seuss character.”

Dr. Robotnik does create Badniks and references them as “Badniks.”

The Reddit user gave the example of the motorbug looking like a motorcycle with a ladybug exterior. Buzzbombers look more like wasps.

There is a “robot version of Eggman.” 

Metal Sonic does not make an appearance. The Reddit user does believe that G.U.N. may have hinted that they’re building Metal Sonic.

It’s also important to note that there were no mentions of Silver and AmyRose in their screening.

There are heavy nods to Sonic Lore, specifically with the echidna tribes. Most of the lore is explained in either flashbacks and/or with echidna lore.

Most of the time is spent on Earth, but we do see other planets. Sonic and Tails do travel all around the world.

The Reddit user also says that we see more of Sonic’s world when Dr. Robotnik tries to teleport back to Earth.

There are heavy nods to both inside and outside references of the Sonic Franchise. Due to their experiences with the franchise, they inform other Reddit users that they couldn’t share and explains all of the references.

However, they were very happy with Sonic fans when hearing their feedback and learning what some references are.

At this time, the voice actor/actress for Tails is still undetermined. The Reddit user said “it was like Tom Holland, but with a higher-pitched voice.”

Sonic makes a remark saying, “You’re too slow!”

Sonic makes a remark saying, “I’m not a rat! I’m a hedgehog!”

Knuckles makes a remark saying, “Knock, knock scrambled egg.”

(The Reddit user explains that this scene in the movie was also very enjoyable).

Sonic and Tails bond over how they know Longclaw in the film. The Reddit user explains that this is their favorite scene in the movie.

Knuckles has an American-like accent, not a British one.

Sonic encounters Tails on a run, but “freaks out” when he sees another alien creature like him. Sonic also freaks out when he sees that Tails can almost match his speed while running.

There is a funny scene of Sonic enjoying his alone time at home, even showing a montage of all the things that he shouldn’t do when Tom and Maddie are at home.

(Think of the montage scene from Home Alone (1990′s).

The Reddit user explains that Knuckles was exiled from the clan for freeing Longclaw as a prank with friends.

There is an artist in the movie that tries to draw Sonic. To Sonic’s discovery, he sees that the artist drew his 2019 design and plays “Gangster’s Paradise” on the radio.

The Reddit user states that they believe that this is the crew’s nod to the original design.

The Reddit user says that there were scenes in the movie that they felt like were more of a placeholder in the film. The reference to Gremlin Sonic being one of these scenes.

Tom and Maddie do go to Rachel and Randall’s wedding.

There are several action scenes, but the Reddit user explains that the most enjoyable ones are when Sonic and Tails fight Knuckles a couple of times.

And with the action scenes, there are many Quicksilver references that Sonic does as well.

On top of that, the Reddit user explains that each character has their own unique abilities. (For example, Sonic is associated with having powers cater to the element of lightning).

Longclaw is alive in the film, but she’s aged and weak.

Longclaw sends Tails to Earth to retrieve Sonic due to her wanting him to safe.

Sonic stays at home on planet Earth, but is supplied with many rings to travel back and forth to visit Knuckles Tails, and Longclaw.

Sonic being a living chaos emerald could be true, but the Reddit user explains that an emerald was sealed inside of Sonic after being born.

Chaos emeralds are not referenced as “Chaos Emeralds” in the film, they were referenced as just “emeralds.”

However, the Reddit user does recap that there might be a name and they didn’t catch it.

Super Sonic is not referenced as “Super Sonic” in the film, but as something else.

Super Sonic can fly in the film and doesn’t need all seven Chaos Emeralds to go “super.”

Sonic references Tails as “Miles” a few times that they meet, but later gives him the nickname “Tails.”

There is a post-credit scene. The Reddit user believes that it’s a heavy nod to Shadow the Hedgehog due to the there being multiple clones modeled like Sonic that G.U.N. has made.

Due to this post-credit scene, the Reddit user holds hopes that there will be a third movie soon.

As of now, the Reddit post is still available for you to read. The Reddit user is mindful of the NDA and purposely phrased some of their spoilers to be vague, but knows that their thread may be removed soon. I know that these may sound fake, however, there have been individuals in the past who have viewed the first film and proved to be right. Like many of you, I hope that this is a real but I will remain cautious. If these facts resurface as being false, let’s not attack the individual. The only that should matter is that we’re excited for the second film. Be mindful that they’re a human being as well. Treat others the way that you would like to be treated.
