What If episode 2 thoughts under cut, spoilers be here!!!

Anyone else disappointed with that episode…? I really thought it was going to be the OG team. I also thought it was going to be Nat not Lawson. I think basically everyone thought it was Nat, I thought it seemed like our best chance of getting Winterwidow MCU content and now I’m sad. Wasn’t too fussed for the first episode (it just wasn’t something I was interested in seeing really) and had thought this one had a good chance of being my favourite in this season but now I’m just praying that Nat at least appears in this series…

The Marvels *SPOILERS*

So, I finally watched The Marvels, which is a 6/10 for me. But, I wanted to talk about the mid-credit scene and how FREAKING TERRIFIED I am about what's coming.

*sigh* Beast made an appearance. Yep, Hank McCoy, one of my favorite blue X-Men characters, showed up in the MCU. Even got freaking Kelsey Grammer, who played him in X-Men: The Last Stand, to reprise the role as his voice.

Yeah, I do mean voice cause he was all CGI in that scene, which means that's what Beast will be in all CGI and not the prosthetic makeup he had in the Fox X-Men movies. Which is a total bummer cause I really liked the makeup on Beast, but I guess the MCU wanted him to look more like his 90s X-Men animated series look.

And that terrifies me. Why? Cause I don't want the MCU to screw Beast up like they did with the other three X-Men characters. After seeing what happened to Charles in MoM, I don't wanna see that happen again. Plus, it just hit harder that the X-Men are really coming into the MCU for real, which I'm still processing. I just don't want more of them getting screwed over like the others.

The way Marvel resisted having proper queer representation for sooo many years and now their first queer show is not only one of the most popular and successful MCU shows of all time it's also getting nominated for awards which is something very few Marvel projects have achieved..... people seriously pretending EEAAO is overrated suddenly bc it swept awards? it swept awards largely because it is very very very good. I cried like someone who's just had a religious revelation BOTH times I watched it bc it touched something raw and real and beautiful but it was also just very, very funny. everyone's performance kills and the concept is creative and interesting and doesn't distract from the emotional core. you guys are just contrarian.

#red said #also there are posts and tweets like THIS IS JUST FOR MCU FANS #like please go on demonstrating how you've adopted 'mcu fan' as a shorthand for 'person who likes films i don't'#or 'person who likes films that are popular'#because the defining features of mcu films are that they're high budget irony poisoned derivative works #targeted at a broad audience so aiming to be accessible and inoffensive #and it really seems. like 'accessible' is the part of that you object to #bc EEAAO is a highly original A24 indie film with a 14.5m budget which is NOTHING #it's made mostly with practical effects and sets #and most importantly it's beautifully painfully earnest. it's never trying to shy away or go Hey Look How Silly This Is 😏#everything is driven by its earnest desire to talk about specific themes #i think the people comparing it negatively to mcu films are stuck on the fact that it's about a multiverse and it's got jokes #and colourful action scenes #but they miss that the referential jokes (like racacoonie) and setpieces aren't the point of the film
