i was typing this in the notes to an ask but it gogt waaaay too long lol sorry. prefacing it with you know i love your artwork & i have nothing against what you choose to draw. also possibly worded weird cus i didnt write it in the sense of talking only to you alone

there is certainly this conflict between artists as random individuals and artists as a collective when it comes to how to approach this issue… as a hobbyist you can draw whatever you like but also when you have trends like a lack of fatness thats going to be disheartening too. i think the answer is getting more people into making art (& like general societal change of course since its an issue baked into bigotry.)

because as much as i agree with the sentiment of "there is significant under representation of fat women" (or characters in general) at the same time fandom is a hobby space and i dislike the notion of badgering individual artists to draw any particular thing especially when the source material does not have that thing. if you are looking for artwork of fat women thats great but i would not ever recommend something like enstars that has 1. no fat characters and 2. no women, barring a few exceptions. i think expecting to find fanart of fat women from a source entirely composed of thin men is unrealistic, even with the relative popularity of femstars.

plus there are other complications such as the typical modern fandom f/f scene sometimes being very strict and even vicious at times with their standards of what's enough diversity or what content is appropriate. ive heard a lot of anecdotes about people who WERE contributing to these things but whom were still harassed or got threats from other users over it not being good enough, and that's just not conducive to creating the environment or diversity you want. nobody is going to want to be in a fandom space where they have to walk on eggshells all the time. and i bring this up because of how you were clearly harassed by randos. accusing you of misogyny or shaming other womens' bodies as being "unrealistic" is not the way to go

the only reasonable solution i can think of to this is, again, to just encourage more artists to start drawing in the first place, or even better start contributing yourself. individuals should have the freedom to draw what they like without getting flamed for it AND people should be able to see themselves represented in artwork. i would like to see some more fat characters too, this is definitely something ive thought about before myself

(personally all the fat people i draw are ocs or portraits of people i know that i dont want to post online but maybe if i get some inspiration i will draw the long-sought chubby mugi myself. i am not super interested in femstars though so whether or not itd actually be fem mugi is up in the air. but all the talking here about this topic has had me thinking about following my own advice and putting what i want to see into the world.)

OUGHH THESE ARE ALL GOOD POINTS!! and i agree! the main thing we should be doing is ENCOURAGING people to add more diversity, not harassing them into it! people who only draw for fun arent really obligated to draw anything outside of their comfort zone, which again is why i think its better to simply uplift the idea of trying out new things and new appearances that you dont often draw

theres also SO MUCH room for more femstars artists too! and like ive said before if you wanna see something done right you gotta do it yourself. and i kind of like that. i like that everyone gets to craft their own little femstars variant of the enstars cast, and you can make them look however you want! and honestly? you SHOULD! seeing personal touches to designs always brings me joy, so even if you dont feel very confident in your art, if you have a specific vision for a character that you want brought to life please go ahead and draw it!! (or if you really dont want to you can always commission someone)

i also wanna highlight one of ur last points too bc yea. its unfortunate but often times whenever i see someone try adding diversity to their art for the first time they end up getting flamed because its not an accurate depiction of what they were trying to represent. and that really sucks! obviously we should strive to have accurate representation, but if its an artist that hasnt tried their hand on it before, ESPECIALLY a beginner artist, we shouldnt flame them for it. rather we should educate them on what went wrong and how they can improve for the future. these are people who actually WANT and are TRYING to add diversity to their art, but because in animanga circles theres a lack of education on how to draw more diverse features of really any kind. which is why trying to educate is far better than shaming. because if you shame these artists theyre gonna be too scared to try again, giving us less diversity once more

so yes basically what im saying is i want us all to encourage diversity and to help each other out by sharing resources and tips when it comes to drawing it!! one person is Obviously not gonna be able to do every single thing, which is why i want more people to pick up the pen and bring life to their visions!! also i really want more femstars food pelase pick up the pen i am a starved orphan and only femstars yuri can satiate me!!!!!!!!!

Some day, we're going to have to talk about the toxic positivity in the swiftie fandom tbh. 2016 was 7 years ago, please grow up and realize treating taylor with kid gloves and glowing about her like she's perfect is so unhealthy for her and yall.

I'm seeing a lot of swifties have to manage their negative emotions that taylor makes them feel to "fit in" with the fandom and this is so fucking toxic to people just in general. Yall are doing to each other what yall did to taylor, which is demand she be happy all the time for you guys and willing to be around you all the time.

Idk yall, I'm seeing many swifties ask people not to attack them for critiquing taylor, I've seen people try and mitigate the harassment from other swifties they're gunna get for openly talking about how Taylor's capitalistic ways hurt them.

The eras tour marketing is not the first time that she has disappointed fans, the "unique" midnights recordings just happened a few months ago, why are yall paying for vip packages if yall aren't meeting taylor (to stand around in MERCH LINES earlier??? Are yall okay, seriously, ask yourself how much money you're spending on her and what ur getting out of it), working with a child rapist director (that convo got shut down because all her friends were doing it too! Which is not a defense but I digress), her working with Zoe Kravitz and Lena Dunham and Lana del ray gets swept under the rug, her working on a racist murderers film adaptation was ignored and celebrated, there is so much more that she's been doing recently since she turned 30 that are really just gross things to be doing and she deserves to see her fans angry at her, even yelling at her online, because that's the only way she will bother to café about this issues.

Like yall were laughing about her behavior at the grammys like it wasn't the most OUT OF TOUCH THING I've ever seen. Rolling your eyes at a BLACK MAN who is more culturally aware of the financial burden of his own fanbase than you???????????

We buy into taylor the artist ourselves precisely because we are so aware of the way she markets herself being unique but we are very aware of the way we support other artists that are purely financial (beyonce, ed sheeran, louis are all artists that I'm well aware they're not in it for the fans, they're in it for either money, fame, or music is their life but taylor is STILL pushing this narrative on tour that she's alllll about the fans.... is she?)

Like, the eras tour is a money grab because tour is always a money grab but the marketing of this particular money grab is that ALL albums would be fairly represented. Did you forget all the setlists taylor Nation posted that included debut ???? And people were actually picking several songs for debut like cold as you was featured ???????? They put out album shirts, highlighting all albums, she talks about it being a journey through "17" years of music and each era, one at a time.

These are conflicting narratives when you don't put debut or speak now in the setlist.

It's just disrespectful. She asks us to be okay with a lot of stuff that she just ignores and doesn't apologize for because she doesn't care about our feelings, she cares only about the money.

And I wish she would just fucking SAY THAT instead pretending like she cares when she doesn't.

Former Nigerian House Of Reps Member, Robinson Uwak Allegedly Orders Police To Arrest Estranged Wife’s Father

A former member of the House of Representatives, Robinson Uwak, has allegedly influenced the police to arrest the father of his estranged wife, Kezia. Uwak is a former member of the House of Representatives who represented Oron, Mbo, Okobo, Ure-Offong/Oruko and Udung-Uko federal constituency of Akwa Ibom State at the 7th Assembly.

“Honorable Robinson just sent policemen to arrest the lady’s father for nothing in Calabar where they live,” a source said. The alleged harassment of Kezia’s family comes amid several allegations of domestic violence levelled against the former lawmaker by his estranged wife. The woman had alleged that Uwak attempted to kill her for trying to leave the marriage. On May 29, she posted on Facebook that the former lawmaker strangled her and attempted to kill her, adding that he also inflicted physical injuries on her mother. She wrote, "Hon. Robinson Uwak strangled me and attempted to kill me when he found out I was trying to leave the marriage and he did this right in the room where my children were asleep.

"He kicked my parents out of his house at 2 am after he put a machete to my mom’s neck and kicked her twice to the ground causing her to injure herself and break her phone. "He lied to me that he was not married to his ex-wife anymore- that he was divorced. "He is now threatening to kill me and my parents for me leaving him. I have Pictures, Videos & Audio evidence. I got married to him after he deceived my family and I that he was divorced from his ex-wife. "Stating that his marriage was annulled because it didn’t legally exist- this was a lie. He deceived my family and I into being married to him. I sit here in terrible pain from my head to my toes after I was terribly battered by my so-called “husband” while he accused me of unfounded and blatant lies. "My neck is swollen and hurts- I can’t swallow well- from how he tied my neck with the nape of what I was wearing and used both hands to strangle me telling me he will “kill me and go to jail.”

"He used his feet to stomp on my chest with all of his might and I have severe chest pains & aches. He slapped and pounded my skull with his fists so many times- hitting my head hard against the tiles in his room over and over while my children slept in the next room. “On the 27th of May around 8 am, he charged into my room where I sleep with my twins and started to accuse me falsely. "Before I could open my mouth to even understand what was happening, he flung me on the floor and began to strangle me. I was screaming. I was horrified.

"He then told me to move to his room- next door- he locked all the windows and doors & commanded me to sit on the floor & then proceeded to tell me that I can never leave the marriage- and break up his home- he said will kill my family and I. He said he is ready to commit murder. He said it doesn’t matter how long it takes, 5-10-15-20 years, that he will find my parents and I and kill us. "He will use N50 million, even N100 million to send kidnappers and killers to end my life and that of my parents. He said I cannot embarrass him maritally a second time.

"That he only let his first wife go because she didn’t have kids. But he will kill me before I leave him. And that I cannot have custody of his kids. He said I will always look over my shoulder in this country for the rest of my life. "And that he will leave to the U.S. and pay people here in Nigeria to kill me and my parents. According to Uwak, Kalu has refused to allow his (Robinson) family to run smoothly. He also alleged that “despite being a married woman, Kalu continued his illicit affair with her, booking and inviting her to hotels to sleep with her”. He added, “When I confronted my wife about it, she cried and pleaded profusely at a family meeting and I forgave her. “Despite her pleas, she continued with her cheating, which led to the last altercation with me.” However, efforts to reach Uwak on his mobile line were not successful as it was unavailable for hours, up till the time of filing this report.

Look. I'm always saying "please do not harass people online"

But when you own a website. For the intention of getting lots of people to come and use your website. And have a public account on that website. Where anybody can message you. Where you tell everybody 'hi im Shitty McAssface and i own this website'. And you cherrypick users to come and suck your dick and say 'wow i rly love all these changes ur userbase hates!' so you can reply like 'o yeah we do testing and listen to feedback and then we launch changes :)' all while ignoring massive user feedback.

In cases like that, I think people are entitled to say "the person who owns this website has a blog, it's here, and you can give him feedback about how he runs it"

I think that's kind of. Just how it is.

We were not given his home address. We were not given his personal email nor his personal phone number. We were not encouraged to tell him "your personal blog sucks and your dog is ugly and your fandoms are dumb and you smell and i hope you eat sand today etc". We were told to tell him, should we feel it reflects our sentiments, "fuck you for running this website into the fucking ground".

I am really not of the mind that "feedback re: how you run your public function" is equivalent to "harassment".

Otherwise... that means everyone who has made / reblogged any post and included a link to tumblr's feedback form and said "here is the form, go tell them what you think" ...would also be guilty of "encouraging people to go spam/harass staff".

Everyone who has made / reblogged any post that discussed a political issue and included a link to "here is how you contact your representatives and tell them to get their shit together" ...would also be guilty of "encouraging people to go harass politicians".

Which would just be bonkers.

And maybe if you're constantly swamped with negative feedback on the public function that you organize... maybe you do run it shitty. Maybe you run such a huge public function that - for the sheer size of its userbase where even a small unhappy percentage can overwhelm you - you shouldn't be on there with open channels where anyone can personally and directly contact you.

Furthermore, I think banning people (not just blocking, BANNING) who tell you "hey you run this website like shit", or banning people who say "this is the owner's public blog that everyone can interact with, the owner who is famous for ignoring user feedback, you can still give him feedback here even if he doesn't listen" ....is something we make fun of Twitter's owner for.

But hey. If Twitter really is just copying us, I guess Matt has to do it first so Elon can copy him.

Just watched the VOD from Karl and the sheet dissappointment and fear for Fundy's live chat I'm feelimg right now is just massive. By reducing Fundy to a fucking furry (which he claims he isn't) and Tommy'd pet, they're going to ruin his next stream for some viewers and maybe Fundy himseld. Just wait till someone uses TTS and talks about the furry and Tommy thing and jist chat spams it? It's so fucking unfunny that is dissappoints me when it happens again.

The "Fundy is a furry joke" has been milked dry tilk it's just a fucking moldy raisin and many Fundy fans are just completely done with it.

I'm hyperfixated on Fundy and seeing him being reduced to just a furry when he has done so fucking much for the lore that almost no-one acknowledges it and pushes him aside (yesterday's stream as example :)) ) just hurts so many people.

(I'm now focusing on Fundy bc I only watch his and Punz' streams so I can't talk a lot about other cc's that are just being pushed aside. Sorey 'bout that)

Fundy has stated many times that he isn't a furry and doesn't like the furry jokes but everyone that spams Fundy is a furry after a joke just disrespects him. We're all talking about respecting cc's and yet some just do it.

Let's also talk about the fact that Fundy doesn't use his facecam a lot currently. Let's just respect it whenever he does use it and not spam "facecam!!??" "Please use a facecam again!!" "Where is ur facecam??" Etc in the chat. If he chooses not to use it, don't pressure him into doing it :/ it's fucking annoying for viewers like myself.

I see it as: "I only watch it for his face" and not his personality or what he brings to the stream. Not having facecam on also can help him focus on roleplaying as he doesn't have to worry about also entertaining his viewers with his face.

I can go on and on about him being pushed aside so I won't.

Ffor those who plan on donating Fundy is Tommy's pet jokes and furry jokes. Please don't, it makes a lot of us uncomfortable or just annoyed. The fucking ocean is empty and the only thing left is salty viewers. We reduce Fundy to a furry while Technoblade stated he likes to be represented by a pig yet we almost never make fun of that. :/

Hi anon! Well, fascism comes in many forms so “sussing out who’s a fascist” is technically a little harder to do than having a simple checklist. After all, doesn’t a White Supremacist have different beliefs to a Japanese fascist? And doesn’t a Japanese fascist have different beliefs to a Wahabist? These beliefs clash don’t they? Well, yes and no. Sure the surface level beliefs are different but the underlying core beliefs of these groups are actually quite similar; it’s the specifics which are different. Even though it isn’t a “bible” on what is fascism and shouldn’t be taken as gospel, Umberto Eco has an essay called “Ur-Fascism” which contains 14 points, which can help us identify whether certain beliefs are fascist no matter the specifics of their belief system. I’ll explain the points in short and give some examples. Quick disclaimer, I am not an expert on fascism or any of the ideologies I’ll discuss by any means so if you aren’t taking Umberto Eco’s writing as the 100% correct truth, definitely don’t take mine as that either (this is how you should treat most sources tho):

1. Cult of Tradition and 2. Rejection of modernity

I put these two together because they’re kind of inseparable. This is basically the idea that there was a “glorious past” that people need to return to and modernity is a corruption of that “glorious past”. In British fascist thought, this past is generally the 19th century at the zenith of the British Empire or mid-20th century Britain. The latter is more common for people who wish to be a little more PC with their writings; instead of trying to use a by-gone era that pretty much no one alive can remember, they use a much more recent time with nostalgic ideas of “the good old days” which doesn’t seem threatening on it’s surface but is dogwhistling for a time when there weren’t as many immigrants in the country.

You may have seen the “reject modernity, embrace tradition” meme and it’s pretty much the most obvious incarnation of this idea. Similarly you may seen people online use “degenerate” as an insult. If you look at the meaning of the degenerate it means “having lost the physical, mental, or moral qualities considered normal and desirable; showing evidence of decline”; it’s microcosm of these ideas put into a single insult. This is why you tend to see conservatives use it more than progressives.

I’d also argue that terfs obsession with 2nd wave feminism and their utter rejection of intersectionality and modern feminism is another manifestation of this idea.

3. Action for actions sake

This is less detectable in terms of individuals but still important to note that these people tend to support action without a cause. Sure the insurrection at the white house earlier this year was action, but it had no substance behind it. It was action for actions sake, which is why any principled leftist didn’t support it. Fascists will tend to openly just call for action but won’t be very specific about the purposes of the action; as long as they agree with the ideology behind it they’ll support it. It’s why fascists love harassment campaigns and mindless acts of terror. Take Wahabist terrorist orgs like Al-Qaeda or ISIS, it doesn’t matter if bombing an Ariana Grande concert has no point, the only point is the action itself.

4. Disagreement is treason

This one’s pretty self explanatory, they will ostracize you if you disagree with them. Again, terfs tend to do this, and I had a long conversation with an ex-terf I called a dumbass, who basically said that she was ostracized by them and mocked for having different beliefs (hope she’s doing well actually). There’s numerous stories from ex-terfs like this.

5. Fear of difference

There’s a tendency for fascists to group people into “us” and “them”. “They” are considered to be intruders who need to be removed whereas “we” are the people who deserve to be here because it is “our” right to be here. In Zulu Nationalism, this tends to be any non-Zulu speakers who they deem to be “Shangaan” even if they aren’t actually Tsonga, it’s just a pejorative at this point. If you see vague references to the “elite” without any reference to who they are and what makes them “elite”, this is tends to be a dogwhistle for Jewish people. Western Fascists have very little issue with the workings of capitalism itself or the accumulation of wealth by capitalists, they just don’t like “them”, taking “our” stuff. Any references to “us” and “them” is pretty much a red flag.

6. Appeal to Social Frustration

Fascists will tend to brush upon actual issues faced by the poor today but will instead blame it on an outside force. You’ll see job loss being blamed on immigrants or vague “elites”. Terfs do this too. They’ll see young girls who are genuinely struggling with patriarchal issues and divert all that pent up rage towards trans people and the “q*eers” (which they do tend to use as a slur unlike what most people would have you think).

7. Obsession with a Plot

Everything is a conspiracy! The election was rigged! 9/11 was fake! that fucking pizza place/this furniture company is a sex ring! All of these are supposedly plots by the deep state who are trying to do... something or other. You’ll notice these “Plots” don’t actually have a purpose, but the fact that there is a plot itself is the issue. This is a way of engendering paranoia in the group while also feeling that there is a constant war against you even if there isn’t. This is also why, despite news sources being pro-capitalist the right will swear up and down it’s leftist media which is controlled by “them” (usually just meaning Jewish people).

8. The enemy is both strong and weak

“Trans people have infiltrated academia and the only reason people refuse to see gender as an immutable biological concept, is because they’re too afraid of the trans cabal to say anything. But also everyone can tell trans people are crazy and haha you have a high suicide rate.” It’s contradictory that’s the point. They need to feel that they’re both counterculture but also they need to be winning at all times so that contradiction is necessary. Also the use of the word “cabal” is a pretty big red flag for all forms of fascism.

9. Pacifism is trafficking with the enemy, 10. Contempt for the weak, 11. Everybody is educated to become a hero and 12. Machismo and weaponry

All of these are kind of interrelated so I’m grouping them together (also this is already fucking long as hell so I don’t wanna bore you any further). You’ll tend to see a love for the military or at least military aesthetics when looking through fascist blogs. Guns aren’t just a tool for fascists, they’re representative of masculinity and the necessity of violence. Pacifists and anyone who refuses to fight are weak and therefore are “degenerate”. If you do not fight, if you are not willing to fight, you cannot be a “hero” (an ubermensch or a matyr). This comes with the fetishization of violence instead of the recognition of violence being an means to an end, and the worship of individuals rather than of communities and organizations. Take Japanese fascists and their lionisation of the imperial military and their desire to once again have an actual army.

Terfs don’t necessarily fit these roles except for arguably 10 considering how much they seem to look down upon the mentally ill and those who commit suicide and surprisingly 11 since that involves the hatred of non-standard sexual activities and terfs hate non-standard sex (this is from the most vanilla bitch who is very uncomfortable with kink but understands its not inherently good or bad). I have a feeling this is more so because terfs are mainly women (there are male terfs ofc) whereas this was written for male led organizations.

13. Selective populism

When fascists talk about “the people” they tend to mean “the people we like”. “The working class” can be translated to “this cishet white christian man from Minnesota who owns land but hey he lives in a rural area so he’s working class right?”. They’ll also tend to have “tokens” who will suddenly become the mouth piece of the entire community they’re supposedly representing even if no one in the community asked them to (i.e. Milo Yiannopoulos).

14. Ur fascism speaks Newspeak

They speak in terms which are both inaccessible to anyone outside of their circles whilst being so simple that once you learn them it becomes easy to understand. They abhor any form of “academic” speech so you’ll rarely see them source things (unless those things happen to agree with their views, which is rare but Jordan Peterson is popular for a reason) and if they do source things they probably wouldn’t have read them fully and will rely on you also not reading them. This is to limit any critical thinking so that your brain is basically jellified into an unquestioning organ which only responds “yes” or “no” and only appeals to a higher authority without any form of reasoning involved. This is why they complain about “the lefts memes being too wordy”... because they’re used to not having to read (this is somewhat tongue in cheek but heyho if the boot fits).

And that’s the 14 main features of fascism, if anyone is displaying multiple of these ideas then they are most likely fascist, and if an organization or group continuously replicates these ideas, then they are definitely fascist. I hope this wasn’t too long but like I said... very complex topic. (Also hopefully this is written well, it’s 10 PM and I am surviving off Irn Bru energy drink). Hope this helped!

Yeah anon, like, genuinely just learn what gendie speak means and translate it in ur head. You'll find there's way more similarities than you'd have ever guessed. There's a fuckload of things TRAs agree with us on but they have so much cognitive dissonance caused by fear and threats (especially for AFABs) they'll never break it down and admit it. Not until/ unless they peak, anyways. But we can. Read between the lines.

When they say, "why do you say you hate men that's too binary :(", try to imagine their perspective. Regardless of how YOU feel about it, trans afabs exist, and will continue existing until MUCH better treatment modalities come out. (If they ever do, as radical feminism isn't really doing anything to help these women, so where else will they turn to for relief? The trans community, duh.) How can we expect otherwise when women with dysphoria are basically told it's their fault for being misogynists if therapy doesn't work? We don't even have any treatment modalities specifically for dysphoria, so, be more realistic about your expectations, please.

Breaking it down, "that's too binary" can mean multiple things. It can refer to how trans AMABs will call themselves women, but still can easily be extremely misogynistic in the same ways you're talking about when you say you hate men. But they WILL get mass harassed by their own community for saying it bluntly like that, so they use the gendie speak. By adding more flames to the fire, all you're doing is adding more pressure and making it actively harder for them to ever have a chance at unpacking their cognitive dissonance. You're perpetuating the same reactive dehumanization that has made the trans community cultlike and reactive in the first place. And that's a disservice to both that person and radical feminism in general. This person saying that quote is agreeing with you, just not in the way you want them to.

It could also mean to address how trans AFABs only really have transient and watered down male privelege, especially when they aren't flat out the binary type that wants to fully pass as a man. And they want to know, "Do you hate me like that as well?". You see nonbinary and have a negative reaction to that, and I get it, but you're not trying to discern the actual meaning underneath the gendie fluff.

If you can acknowledge that gendie fluff language is useless and detracts from the point, you can also break it down to see what they're actually saying in reference to their own material reality. So this actually isn't all that wild of something to say, you just missed an opportunity to get a gendie to see it your way. You're not obligated to do that by any means, but if you call yourself any level of activist, that's a part of what activist work really is. Not just online, but irl as well.

The next quote, "girls in school bullied me for being too masculine, but boys did not, thus males are not oppressive" is-- once again-- gendie fluff that represents an extremely complex reality as a GNC woman, as dykeulous explained. There's also room here to educate on personal experiences versus systemic oppression, because that's very obviously a missing piece in their logic from the get go. The best way to do that is to sympathize with the very real issue of GNC hate and homophobia that causes this environment for young women in the first place, and then explain your views. Go by statistics, especially when it comes to male crime vs female, sexual violence statistics, pregnancy mortality statistics, etc., because you probably already know these areas well if you're a radfem. And emphasis on "just because it didn't happen to you in that way, doesn't mean it's not happening for most women".

Just kinda treat them like people and not a stereotype of the worst gendie you've ever met. Please?

Humans are Space Orcs, “Recruits, Regulation″

Recruits Kimber, Alvarez, Han, and McCaster sat mostly slack jawed in the little conference room on the command deck of the UNSC Harbinger. The little alien doctor they had called ‘Krill’ was standing at the front of the room, and in general military fashion, he had a powerpoint holographically projected over the far wall.

On the projection currently was a diagram of a human body, the kind you would see in high school health textbook.

The little alien was pointing vigorously towards the diagram, “And here, right here this little opening that leads into the bladder is called the urethra, and if you STICK things in it, it gets grossly infected and causes horrible urinary tract infections.” The group of recruits simple sat there in shock, “This, this is the anus, this muscle was designed to push things out not take things in. In fact, if you try, the negative pressure created by your adventure can pull things INSIDE your colon and up your large intestine. The procedure for getting that out might include surgery, but could just involve someone like me reaching up there to grab it out.”

Mouths gaped in astonishment.

They couldn’t be living through this, could they.

“This, this machine right here is the mechanism used to close the airlock doors. If the airlock doors get jammed, do NOT stick your hand inside to try and fish them out, because this may cause something called degloving…. If you don’t know what that means, its when all the skin peels off your hand like a banana and-”

The door at the far end of the room hissed open, and they turned to see the commander, of course the man didn’t just walk into the room like any normal person. He glided in on his ‘heelies, hands clasped behind his back like he was standing at parade rest. It was such a strange sight, considering the man was wearing an officer's uniform and a captain’s cap having ditched the sunglasses from earlier in favor of the eye patch, which did not, in fact, seem to be a joke, but was definitely part of his everyday wardrobe.

He came gliding to a halt next to them, “You made a powerpoint?” He asked in mild amusement.

“Of course I made a powerpoint.”

“Hmm,” The man shrugged, “Guess it makes sense.”

“Can you let me finish.”

The man grinned, “Afraid not. We are about to launch, and I have it on good authority these four have been invited to the bridge to see the spectacle.”

The little doctor sighed, “So human by way of his exasperation that it was hard to tell he was even alien, “Alright go then, but when one of them ends up in my infirmary with some stupid injury, I am going to blame you.”

“You blame me anyway.”

“That's because I am convinced you are the amalgamation of human stupidity and recklessness.” The recruits looked nervously back and forth between the two. Its not everyday you watched an officer get insulted to his face, but the man just smiled and laughed blowing the entire thing off.

“Well I’ve never gotten anything stuck in my colon, so I guess I’m not a good representative, anyway.” He pointed to the four of them, “Come on. I think you’ll want to see this.”

Nervously the group of them stood and followed the Commander through the open doors walking along behind his gliding form.

He had…. Not been what they expected. They had seen the movie trailers, heard about his exploits, watched flight demonstration videos, in certain cases, and even received lectures about intergalactic relations based on transcripts from his conversations, and or interactions. He was a legend at the academy, at the forefront of human/alien relations. All the books were written based on what he had done or what people in his crew had done. He had been the first man to SEE sentient nonhuman life.

And there he was, wearing an eyepatch and heeleing down the hall like a botched middle school costume party. Not to mention, when they had heard of him, they had immediately assumed it would be someone older and more experienced, someone graying at the temples who had seen more life than he knew what to do with, but this…. This guy wasn’t much older than them. Young enough to be their older brother, or their older brother’s weird ass friend.

Then there was that smile, like he didn’t have a serious bone in his body, and they were expected to follow this guy?

How could they take him seriously?

“Um… Sir, I don’t mean to sound…. accusatory , but.” He glanced over his shoulder back at them, green eye sparking with some unknown emotion.

Recruit Kimber pointed down at his shoes, “Um, are those regulation…. With the uniform or…”

He grinned again and turned away, “Uniform regulation Gama on the proper maintenance of footwear when wearing uniform. Footwear must be classified as a dress shoe and come in Mat black or grey, no laces.” he pointed downwards at his feet, “These are slip ons, and in the online description they were described as a ‘dress shoe” maybe it was on a technicality but I took a screenshot just in case anyone asks.”

They stared at him.

“Um…. sir…. I hate to sound like an….ur well…. But you arent exactly…”

“What you expected?” The man finished, coming to a stop and turning to face them.

“Well.” Alvarez rubbed the back of his head, “Yeah, I mean you…. Well weve read about you in military science and tactics, and we sort of just assumed that you’d be more ...”

The conversation died away as the young recruits shifted awkwardly.

He smirked, “you thought id be some old stuffy officer with years of military experience. Some regulation stickler with a metal rod shoved up my ass, yes sir, no sir, you say jump, I say how high, that kind of person?”

They shuffled their feet awkwardly, but didn’t answer.

The man didn’t break his expression, “Well this is the reality. When I was a kid I used to set up my telescope out on the lawn, hoping I would see a UFO I trained for over five years in aviation to get my ass on board the Enterprise, because I wanted nothing more than to go to space.. My first trip to space was in an F-90 darkfire, and I nearly died. I was on the forerunner team that stepped foot on Proxima b and then when we receive incoming radio signals from an unknown source,I accompanied them as well. There I was the first person to see extraterrestrial life, not only that but I helped to establish linguistic contact between the two races. When the Drev war happened, I was deployed when I never should have been, lost my leg become a part of operation steel eye fought through withdrawals and PTSD before crawling back to the UNSC only to learn that the GA Knew me and trusted me enough to want me as the human representative to the rest of the galaxy.” He paused for a second looking them over, “All of that, was just one big accident. I was in the right place at the right time, and aside from training as hard as I did to be a good pilot, I have stumbled and crashed my way to success by the grace of my own luck.”

The group remained silent.

He looked at them with a critical eye, “Do you want to know what I learned through all of that?”

They remained silent but nodded nervously.

He took a breath, “I learned first and foremost to never stop loving what you do, With the army it is easy to take all the rules and regulations, and hate all the political loopholes you have to jump through. It’s easy to make a routine to grow bored. But boredom leads to burnout, and every day I wake up on MY ship living my childhood dream and determine I have no right to feel that way, so if that means wearing heelis on the command deck, Playing songs older than dirt on the bridge, and making myself look like a fool, than I’ll do it, just as long as I remember to contain it when it most matters.”

He turned away and began gliding down the hall again, “Ever wonder why my ship, despite being the most dangerous, is the most sought after in the fleet… It's because Morale. I make sure to keep my people entertained and happy. Morale has the happy side effect of making people work harder, they try more, and they are more loyal. Everything I do, I do for the crew, and for myself.”

He came to a halt at the bottom of the steps and led them upwards onto the bridge.

The small blue Drev, Sunny, was waiting for them, “Rousing lecture, I almost peed myself a little.”

He snorted and shoved her aside with a shoulder, “You know you love me.”

The drev lifted her head slightly, “Do I?”

“Yes, you do.”

The recruits followed nervously after him glancing towards the Drev female and her bright gold eyes. She snapped her beak at them and they stepped back nervously. She made some sort of humming sound deep in her chest. The the base of her throat they watched as two large holes opened and closed in time with her breathing.

Creepy.

“Begin preflight sequence.” The commander had taken a seat in the captain's chair, and as he was sitting there giving orders and taking command of the ship, you could almost forget that he was wearing an eyepatch and a pair of heelies.

By order form one of the bridge men, they strapped themselves into their seats as the countdown sequence began, “Crew of the harbinger this is your Commander speaking. Please follow all takeoff protocols for we are beginning preflight at this time. Please make sure to strap down all objects that would be lethal flying towards you head, and keep your hands and and feet inside the vehicle for the duration of the ride, thank you for flying with the UNSC.”

He flipped some controls on the chair as the countdown began, and it wasn’t moments before they were being lifted into the sky. Everyone braced themselves against their seats clutching the harnesses as they were thrust upwards into the sky, hands clasped onto harasses, and then they were airborne.

Despite the sudden and violent takeoff, the ride was relatively smooth, and they watched out the windows as earth receded behind them.

It was an amazing sight, more than any of them had ever before imagined, “Charge warp drive!” The commander ordered.”

“Charging warp drive, engage on your command, sir.”

“Diagnostic report on the coolant system?”

“100% operations functional, sir!”

“Engage warp drive in three ...two…. One.”

And then they were gone, off into the vastness of space at the forefront of space exploration.

At the forefront of danger.

The forefront of danger was not what they had been expecting, they certainly had not expected the aggressive prank war that occured on April first, a prank war that covered McCaster in Green paint, and resulted in Han having lost all of his left shoes.

They didn’t expect the mess hall to burst into a sing along when the commander began playing outdated rock music, they hadn’t expected to get cleaned out in a game of poker by an alien nearly twice their size, or chased out of the shower by a very grumpy looking spider hybrid.

All through this, the commander appeared and disappeared at random wheeling past or riding on the back of the electric blue Drev, only to prance down the hall out of sight leaving a trail of…. Something dumb, bubbles or confett, behind him.

How he managed to requisition any of the things he got his hands on was a mystery to them.

And though this was the strangest experience they had ever had, he hadn’t been wrong about burnout, boredom, or monotony. They never knew what was coming next, and there was always something interesting going on.

If you walked in on the commander, one moment he was trying to teach the spiderlings how to shake, and the next moment he was on a conference call with the president of the UN brass of the UNSC and the galactic Assembly giving tactical advice with the same mouth that had earlier proclaimed the hypothesis that , why don’t we just do all our laundry in space seeing as the inhospitable vacuum would kill all the bacteria, not entirely sure if he was joking or not.

During meal times he spent a good portion of it rotating around the tables and eating with a new group every day. Generally his big blue friend, Sunny came with him, and more often than not, the doctor as well. Seemed odd how close he was with them, but no one would give a straight answer when questions came up about the nature of the relationship.

It was on just such a day when the commander made his way over to their table and took a seat followed by the blue Drev who was carrying a large salad in a mixing bowl.

The drev could really put down food, but that made sense.

“Morning gentlemen.”

“Morning, sir.”

He tilted his head, “Don’t look so thrilled, you might have an accident with all that enthusiasm.”

Alvarez clutched his mug, “Sorry not a morning person.” He muttered

“And you commander.”

“Any time is a good time to be alive.”

“And there is the optimist.” Han muttered with a sigh rubbing groggily at his eyes before pausing “What are you wearing?”

The commander grinned leaning back to show off his shirt, “Star Wars T, its vintage, do you like?.... Don’t give me that look, it’s casual friday.”

They just shook their heads in slight amusement as he leaned an elbow on the table, “I was meaning to ask you guys something.”

They nodded, and he was about to open his mouth to speak when, alarms started going off all around the ship.

Suddenly, the geek was gone and the commander stood in his place demeanor no more marred by his clothing than a speck of dust in a beam of sunlight.

“EVERYONE TO YOUR STATIONS, NOW!”

“What’s going on!”

He tilted his head to the side listening, probably to a report over his implants.

“The GA is under attack. “

so I’ve been working with aphrodite on and off all year who originally came to me in a dream at a rough time in my life where I completelg lost myself and occasionally I’ve been trying to make a connection with apollo but I haven’t really focused at all on him the past month or 2 and suddenly last week I had this sudden feeling that he was upset with me and a few days ago I came to your blog hoping your asks had been (would’ve checked sooner but I got a mild concussion from falling down (1)

(2)the stairs last week… not fun but I was low on energy and focus from it but so your asks were obviously closed so I ended up going through your apollo tag hoping to find some insight on what to do if he’s upset with you and ran into the song apollo after reading more about him and whatnot on your blog and omfg I suddenly felt a warmth next to me and I got this clear image of a shaggy haired sandy blonde boy in my mind and we ended up sitting here listening to music together and honestly

(3)for me he felt like a teasing older brother and also had a guiding vibe and it was so interesting to be able to finally officially feel the difference between him and aphrodite because for me she’s kind and gentle and she’s like the best friend who will sit and listen to your complaints and roll her eyes with you when you get objectified by ur mom’s best friend’s son again and sympathize when you get your heart broken and apollo is like a teasing older brother and very warm and I came across

(4)a song that I could’ve sworn he was telling me reminded him of him and artemis and honestly it reminded me of my twin and me as well (brother by kodaline in case you’re interested) and it was so wonderful but… is he a jealous god? Cuz I think he felt neglected and I thought that even more so cuz that night after having gone thru ur blog I’m p hecking sure ares came to me in a dream and in said dream apollo didn’t like that I was talking to him and I’m not sure what to do about that😪

My they/them wife had one a few years back and I had to take them to the hospital! (They're doing a lot better though, thank the gods. Though my little dog is always nervous to be right behind them since he caused the concussion last time.)

It could be your shadow self that is projecting the thought that Apollo is annoyed with you.

This is the feeling that I'm getting from Apollo because even though you initially had that feeling of him being upset with you, you added this:

And your right, he does feel like a teasing older brother (the other day he was teasing me about a joke Hermes made that just went over my head and then I later caught 🤣) but he does guide me, here's guiding me as we speak. UGH, WHAT A CREEP! Aphrodite totally understands and she'll keep reminding you that you are more than what others think of you. And she understands the complexities of love and how it really changes people and helps them grow. Keep working with her, she'll teach you to see your true worth.

You have a twin? No wonder Apollo wanted you to hear that song. You both have that in common. You can also add Artemis and work with both of them as a representation of you and your twin as well. Or focus on the twin aspect of Apollo. Either way, I can see why he wanted to talk to you.

Apollo has SO MANY followers. I sense this is your own guilt projecting. It's okay for you to take breaks from gods. Don't think that he'll feel like you are ignoring him, he'll occasionally nudge you and try to get your attention if he senses you are having medical problems because he's the god of health. Because you just went through a concussion, I'm not surprised Apollo is sending you messages and is trying to get your attention. He did the same thing with my wife. After their concussion Apollo was suddenly everywhere, encouraging them to go to the doctor, reminding them to take meds, etc.

You said that your mom's friend's son is harassing you right? Ares likes to work with people because he helps them learn to stand up to bullies and those that are harassing others.

Dreams represent a lot of things.

I believe that both gods were on your dreams but it wasn't jealousy (Apollo and Ares not only work with me but they work really well together. Apollo opened Sparta while Sparta loved Ares. Apollo also encouraged his Spartan soldiers to be molded in the image of Ares which is why Sparta had Ares in chains so the spirit of the god of war would never leave Sparta. Plus I usually ask Ares, Apollo and Hermes to help me exorcise my home or whatever place I'm renting for the night. Hermes takes the lost souls where they need to go while Ares fights demons and Apollo purifies the negative energy with his light.)

But I sense it was more of an argument as to who you should work with first. I sense Apollo wants you to focus on your health first while Ares wants you to focus on defending yourself.

You won't. Apollo isn't a jealous god. He knows the value and benefits Ares will bring in your life, he just wants you to focus on him first especially because he's telling me it seems working with too many gods right now will be overwhelming for you. It is possible and there are devotees who work with multiple gods at once (like me who is currently working with 6+ gods. Here's an example of how I juggle my time with them: (LINK))

No need to apologize! Especially when you talk about Ares because as I've said before I can talk about Ares ALL DAY!!! I grew up with him and he's the reason why I always attract these scary looking people who end up being super dorks and puppies like a tatted up vicious looking bike gang watching over the girl scouts who are selling in a sketchy neighborhood but they're doing it to make sure the girls don't get hurt or kidnapped.

Just the other day I was right outside of school sitting on a bench when a creepy dude started to ask for my number and just wouldn't take no for an answer. I suddenly felt Ares's energy when a cop came out of nowhere and asked him if he was a student. He wasn't. "Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to leave, you're bothering the students." I was so thankful because he's always watched out for me that way so yes he is most definitely like a big brother although he gives me "war-dad" and "papa bear" vibes and his rock in Athens is literally the most comfortable rock in the world!!!! I miss it everyday! 😭

I'm sorry it took me this long to answer your asks, between going to Greece and starting school it was impossible to be in Tumblr besides re-blogging every few seconds I got to be on it.
