Life is beautiful i was walking home playing music out loud on my phone to paint the quiet streets with Choro and Samba and the birds were singing so i whistled back(i taught myself how to whistle to mimick birds and speak their language) and as i was walking back a fuzzy docile bee landed on my shoulder and i was worried id reflex hit it if it flied near my ear so i tried to get her on my phone and she started climbing on my finger and i laughed and guided her to my phone and tried to guide her to a nearby flower but she was confused and kept going around my phone and i keep saying "nooo you'll get yourself dizy :( go to the flower please please please i'm scared of hitting the music play button and hurting your little bee ears" and she finally understood and got on the flower and i recorded her and was texting nonstop about the cutest bee i saw and three elderly people that were walking together went "Snake!!!" and i looked up and they laughed and said i was so focused on my phone i would run over them and i apoligized laughing and grinning saying i was just super excited a bee landed on my shoulder and they laughed more and said it was fine and told me good morning and i told them good morning and i got on the street of my house and a guy was walking the dogs so i went to the street instead of the sidewalk(afraid of dogs but also give him space it were three dogs) and he was gonna do the same he went to the street to give me the sidewalk and we both laughed and i'm so happy life is so beautiful there is so much to live for

Currently watching EGO starring Alperen Duymaz and Melisa Aslı Pamuk, I swear it’s one of the best dizis with fire chemistry I’ve seen. I also loved some of the changes the made compared to the Kdrama Temptation.
I went through your account and saw you talked about Çarpışma before, if you don’t mind me asking, what was all the drama behind the scenes? I was told Alperen and Melisa used to be friends but midway through the dizi they stopped. (Ofc, we all know he unfollowed her during EGO filming, which is sad, but yeah). As someone who wasn’t in diziland years ago, can you give context as to what happened?
Hi there, Anon! 🙏🏾
I also enjoyed the first episode of EGO, there's potential there but after doing a bit of research (aka twitter search lol) I've since lowered expectations a bit cause apparently Fox is a shite production and they're trigger happy with ending shows at their whim. Hoping for the best though! 🙏🏾
As for Alpmel, I'll be honest - I have no idea 😂. It's so weird looking back on it cause one minute they were all cool, did this beautiful magazine shoot and all that. The next minute it became evident to me as the show was winding down that they weren't on good terms. If you end up finding out, please feel free to message me cause I'd like to know too.

Can we have a hundred day celebration for Shuilan in renouncement? Would love to see Wangxian happily showing off their baby and the everyone being KO’d by her cuteness.
If anyone had told Wei Wuxian what his future would hold five years ago, he would have laughed at the impossibility, and then dug a hole for himself in his favorite radish patch until Wen Qing came along to fetch him.
How strange it would have sounded to the Yiling Laozu holding court in the Burial Mounds, scraping by on thin luobo stew and the odd egg from market to feed A-Yuan, that one day a child of his would receive the blessings of all the Lan sect the moment she came into the world, and again thrice over at her hundred-day feast! It scarcely seems real to him now, after more than a year as Lan Zhan’s husband and the Lan Clan’s Xinhua-jun, and the sight of his richly dressed reflection in the looking glass bewilders him so much that he scarcely registers it when Lan Zhan materializes behind him with A-Lan in his arms.
“A-Lan looks so sweet, Lan Zhan,” he laughs, when his husband reaches out to touch his elbow--in a gesture that means come back, xingan, for I am here beside you, and you need never want for anything again. “She’s sparkling almost as much as you are.”
Lan Zhan dressed the baby in a tiny, glittering robe covered with beaded flowers, and whenever the light falls upon her little body, A-Lan glows like a moonlit pearl: so cool and soft and calm that Wei Wuxian can scarcely look away from her, even after the hundred-day feast is well underway in the banquet hall. He and Lan Zhan hold the seats of honor today, rather than Lan Xichen, and Xiao-Yu sits close beside them with his fluffy hair tied up into two pigtails.
“May I hold her, Hanguang-jun?” a kindly matron from the Cheng sect asks. Lan Zhan nods, and Lan-bao is swiftly transferred into Cheng-er-furen’s arms: puzzled by her sudden ascent, certainly, but happy enough to blink her big eyes up at Second Lady Cheng and coo like a roosting pigeon.
“Oh,” Cheng-er-furen gasps, as A-Lan kicks her tiny feet in their pink satin shoes. “Xinhua-jun, she’s beautiful.”
Wei Wuxian feels his heart quiver in his breast. “They say that one beauty recognizes another,” he says gravely, laughing out loud when Lady Cheng’s cheeks flush red. “Lan-bao can already tell, Lan Zhan, don’t you think?”
Lan Zhan presses his lips together and refuses to answer, but Wei Wuxian can see them twitching up at the corners. “That means he agrees with me,” he teases, as Cheng-furen slips a red packet into Xiao-Yu’s hands and kisses the toe of A-Lan’s little sock. “Don’t you, xingan?”
Lady Cheng rolls her eyes at their flirting and passes down the line with a smile, yielding her place to the next guest before going to find a seat at the banquet table.
“Ah, Wei-xiong,” the next well-wisher sighs, snapping open his favorite fan and holding it out to the baby. “A-Lan’s gathered quite a crowd today, hasn’t she?”
“Well, we did limit the full-moon ceremony to only our friends and family,” Wei Wuxian points out. As far as social events go, A-Lan’s full moon was one of the most exclusive gatherings of the year, open to members of the Lan sect and only by invitation to guests outside the Cloud Recesses; Ouyang Zizhen was generally envied as the sole attendee unconnected to Wei Wuxian by sect or familial ties, though he would have been invited anyway as Ouyang-zongzhu’s heir. “Lan Zhan was worried that we might fall ill during the monsoon season, so of course we had to invite everyone now that the weather’s turned warm again.”
Huaisang gives a meditative nod and lets A-Lan chew on the handle of his fan. “Lan-bao doesn’t have any teeth,” he yawns, when Wei Wuxian stares at the fan in disbelief and tries to pull it out of the baby’s mouth. “She can gum on my fan all she wants, I doubt she can put a dent in it.”
But the fan loses its charm before long, and A-Lan starts fussing in her blue satin wrap and refuses to settle until Wei Wuxian picks her up. The next group of guests offers their good-wishes one by one, leaving behind gifts like red packets and jade pendants and enough books to set up a new wing in the Library Pavilion; and a little while later, a shy two-year-old wanders up with his mother and presents a clumsily-carved dizi, just the right size for a toddler about as old as he is.
“I married out of the Cloud Recesses, so I live with my husband in Caiyi now,” the mother explains, as her son looks into Lan-bao’s crib with big eyes and makes soft cooing sounds in a clear attempt to play with her. “He runs a woodworking shop, so when we heard about the invitation to Lan-xiao-guniang’s hundred-day, Fang’er asked him to help carve a dizi for her.”
Wei Wuxian is so thoroughly charmed that he promises to stop by the woodworking shop later in the month, and present little Lan Fang--who seems to have taken his mother’s name, to retain his connection to her sect--with a learning dizi of his own.
“You can never begin too early,” Lan Zhan offers, catching Xiao-Yu by the sleeve to stop him from feeding his spicy peanut snacks to Lan Fang. “Does he prefer the flute above other instruments, furen? If so, he could come to the Cloud Recesses to study alongside Xiao-Yu when Wei Ying starts his music lessons.”
Wei Wuxian flinches, wondering if Lan Zhan has lost his senses--because what good mother would send her son to learn the dizi from the infamous Yiling Patriarch, even if he had been redeemed in the eyes of the gentry by his marriage to Lan Wangji? But Lan Fang’s mother is already nodding, looking fondly at Xiao-Yu as he offers Fang’er a bite of tangyuan, and the look in her eyes when she turns to Wei Wuxian is full of nothing but happiness.
“Xiao-Fang doesn’t get along very well with the children in Caiyi,” she sighs. “But he’ll surely come to study here one day, so if I could send him and know that Xiao-Yu-gongzi would look out for him--”
“Xiao-Yu will!” A-Yu exclaims, grabbing Lan Fang’s hand. “He’ll be A-Yu’s shidi!”
Lan Fang is more interested in doting on A-Lan, but Xiao-Yu is delighted by the prospect of having a junior sect brother, and tells the next ten people in line that he has become a shixiong now.
All in all, A-Lan’s hundred-day feast goes off without a hitch, and Wei Wuxian is nearly in tears at the sweetness of it all by the time Jiang Cheng arrives with a set of silver baby jewelry.
“A-Cheng, you shouldn’t have,” he chuckles, ducking his head so that Lan Zhan can pat his eyes with a cool handkerchief. “Lan-bao has enough jewelry for a new set every day, by now!”
“This isn’t just any set of jewelry,” Jiang Cheng informs him, motioning his head disciple to come forward and open the flat jewel-cases to reveal necklaces, bangles, ankle-bracelets and a longevity lock encrusted with silver beads.
Upon closer inspection, Wei Wuxian discovers that each tiny bead is a miniature clarity bell, etched with the Jiang sect lotus blossom and reinforced with so many protective charms that the collected set must have cost a small fortune.
“Didi,” Wei Wuxian begins, trying in vain to swallow the lump in his throat. “This, this is--”
“She won’t be able to wear these for long, but you could get them disassembled and extended with plain silver when she’s older,” his brother interrupts. “But A-Shuai says you should put them into storage when A-Lan gets older, because heaven knows I can’t afford another set.”
Lan Zhan frowns. “Why would we need another set?”
Jiang Cheng fixes him with a pointed stare, and Wei Wuxian feels his cheeks turn crimson when he finally gets the hint.
(Three years later, A-Lan’s hundred-day clarity jewels are passed down to a newborn baby sister, and no one is more pleased than her adoring jiujiu when Wei Chunyang wears them at her own full moon celebration.)

Cheng-ge,
You’re the best gege anyone ever had! Lan Zhan told me you showed him the chili sauce to buy, and I remembered that time you took me all around the marketplace and got everyone to let us taste their chili sauce so we could decide which one we liked best, and this one made your face turn super red! I think I’d die if you hadn’t helped him buy it—the food here is so bland!
It’s super quiet in the Cloud Recesses, and you’re not allowed to run, which is weird, but everyone has this way of walking super fast which is kind of a cool skill, so maybe I’ll learn how to do that, too. Lan-xiansheng is being really nice when I accidentally break a rule, but I’m trying to remember so I don’t shame the Jiang sect.
They have a Cold Spring here and Lan Zhan and Lan Xichen took me to meditate in, and it really lives up to its name—I’m shocked it’s not frozen over, with how cold it is! But it’s infused with spiritual energy, and Lan-xiansheng thinks it might help clear out the resentful energy some.
Some of the elders are researching curses in the Lan library, which is super extensive. I get to read whatever I want when I’m not in class and studying and practicing my dizi. So I mostly look for stuff on resentful energy since maybe I can find something that will help me get more memories back. Lan Zhan is looking up scores that might be more effective, too!
Lan-xiansheng wrote to Wen-zongzhu to ask about the healing branch, so please thank jiejie for the idea. Even if they can’t help, it’s good to look into all the possibilities.
Lan Zhan’s father came out of seclusion briefly to meet me. Lan-xiansheng was surprised when he came out. I guess he wasn’t really happy about the betrothal because of Lan An’s love story. Apparently the Lans take love super seriously.
I told him what I remember about my parents, and what I remember about me, and how much Lan Zhan has helped me. I told him if Lan Zhan finds his fated one, we can break the troth. I don’t know if he likes me, but he hasn’t said anything and he went back into seclusion, so I guess he’s fine with it.
People are really restrained here, and so I’m really loud and stand out in comparison, but it’s so fun to hear the Gusu dialect. It’s adorable! Lan Zhan’s ears turn red when I say so, though.
I miss you, and jiejie, and meimei, and a-niang, and a-die. Please tell them all I love them, and give my regards to the disciples and snuggle little A-Yu for your didi.
Jiang Wuxian
------------
Xian-di,
I also remember you pushed me off the pier that day and said the water would help cool me down. You’re lucky you were right, or I would’ve broken your legs! There might be new vendors since we did that, so when you come back to Yummeng, we’ll taste all the new ones, too.
I heard there’s like 2000 rules or so, but I guess that’s why Lan Wangji was surprised we don’t have many. I can’t imagine how you can do anything, having so many rules to keep track of. How can you remember anything else? Anyway, don’t worry about shaming the sect: you’re Jiang and Lan-xiansheng knows you’ll act like one.
That’s an interesting way to meditate. I read once that some monks use hot springs that way too. I wonder if we could use swimming as a way of active meditation. I’ll ask a-die. Then we can get away with going swimming and calling it training.
I wish we had a big library like that, but books don’t do well in the humidity. I’m glad they have a lot of resources to help you. When I go to the lectures when we’re fifteen, you’ll have to show me all the best books!
The Wens are pretty clan-oriented so they might ignore the letter, but I hope they send someone. But even if you get your memories back, you’re still my didi, okay? I’m your gege forever, even after we cultivate into immortality.
Qingheng-Jun is supposed to be one of the top cultivators of a-die’s generation, so I’m jealous you got to meet him. He better approve of you, even if you don’t wind up marrying Lan Wangji. It’s already obvious you’ll be friends for your whole lives. There are different kinds of love, right?
A-Die says each region has different dialects. Maybe someday we’ll get to travel and hear all the different ones. Make Lan Wangji talk in the Gusu dialect when he’s at Lotus Pier next so I can hear it!
We all miss you, too. The new disciples are doing well. Meng Yao is really smart, and the kids you were helping are doing well in their lessons and starting meditation and exercises. A-Niang said some of them were hiding food in their rooms like you used to, but they know they can go to the kitchens any time and so they’re getting better about it.
A-Lian wants you to find her a pretty doll while you’re in Gusu, if you can. Jiejie says to make sure you eat well—we can send you more chili sauce if you need it. She’s learning medicine still, and her golden core is getting stronger. A-Niang and a-die said to study well and do your best.
Make sure to learn some Lan forms and teach me when you get back!
Jiang Cheng
---------
A-Ying is spending his first three month stint in the Cloud Recesses, and they managed to keep the chili sauce a secret until he got there.

"Wangji."
Golden eyes open in catlike slits. Were it not for his size, his jade white scales would be lost under the sleeping rabbits snuggled around him. Here, nestled in his hoard, Lan Xichen's brother is his most content, and Lan Xichen hates to interrupt him.
But Uncle is right. This conversation has to happen today. So Lan Xichen approaches with a peaceable smile on his face, letting his limbs elongate into a mirror image of the dragon, almost identical to the legendary Lan An: pale antlers sprouting like small trees from a sky blue mane that stretches along his spine to a feather-soft fur tail. The noticeable difference is Lan Xichen has whiskers, two flowing tendrils on the sides of his snout. Wangji is not yet old enough to grow his.
"A disciple is being punished for insulting your breeding," Lan Xichen rumbles, putting one paw over the other. "This is the fifth proposal you have refused this week, Wangji. The elders are getting worried you will never accept a harness."
Slowly, Wangji blinks his eyes all the way open. "Didn't like them."
Lan Xichen tries not to laugh at the childish petulance in his voice. "Why not?"
Wangji doesn't answer.
A black rabbit, the only one in the bunch, hops onto his snout. Wangji looks especially pleased.
...ah.
"Wangji," Lan Xichen says cautiously, "do you have someone specific in mind?"
Wangji looks back at him.
Lan Xichen sighs. "You know I only want you to be happy. But you must know that is impossible."
"I would not be the first Lan to be without a harness."
Lan Xichen opens his mouth, then closes it, lets his tension speak for him. While they are descended from the skies, the Lan bloodline has been diluted. They are not the divine creatures of old. Human riders, empathetic bonds, allow them to keep their human hearts. What Wangji is suggesting is unfathomable to his family: relinquishing balance, an existence driven completely by instinct. Everything a Lan abhors.
Wangji averts his eyes. But he does not back down.
Lan Xichen sighs. In a rare moment, his agitation becomes apparent in the mist coiling from his jaws. He nudges his brother's snout and leaves the back hill.
The Burial Mounds seethe at Lan Xichen's approach. Lan Xichen resists the urge to seethe back. He's ridden the sword instead of scale, thinking perhaps Wei Wuxian will be more amenable to a human's approach. Most people are, except Nie Mingjue, but Mingjue has always been different. Or maybe Lan Xichen is biased.
Nevertheless, his rider has no knowledge of Lan Xichen's visit. Uncle does not even know; his nephew only told him he was going to look elsewhere for candidates for Wangji. Which is not a lie.
The wards ripple red. Lan Xichen sends a harmless breath of energy, the equivalent of knocking politely on a door. Then he waits, taking in the...scenery.
He tries to be positive. Before the war and heresy, Wei Wuxian showed himself to be clever and righteous. He had been an enormous help in the war, despite his methods. Something in him has broken Wangji's silence, and Wangji is a Lan: he does not love lightly.
Wei Wuxian is also stubborn, rash, and practices unorthodoxy. Also, he is harboring Wens in the Burial Mounds. Lan Xichen can't help thinking he's utterly unworthy of Wangji.
Lan Xichen takes a deep breath, then grimaces. The Burial Mounds is choked with resentful death and rotting flesh. But he will stick to his purpose.
"Sect Leader Lan."
Wei Wuxian is a skeleton in worn clothes, twirling his dizi with deliberate carelessness. His smile is sharp and cautious.
"Has Lan Zhan finally given up?" he asks.
Lan Xichen smiles back. "On the contrary. I wish to speak with you, Young Master Wei, if you have a moment."
Wei Wuxian tilts his head. "You've never been here. Would you like a tour while we talk?"
"I'm afraid it is a sensitive subject."
Wei Wuxian's fingers twitch around Chenqing.
"Young Master Wei," Lan Xichen says, "I mean you and your charges no harm." After a moment's consideration, he says, "It is about Wangji."
Wei Wuxian starts. Suddenly, he is speaking rapidly: "Is he alright? Did something happen?"
"May we talk?" Lan Xichen repeats.
Wei Wuxian's lips purse. He waves his hand, and the barrier falls.
"Follow me."
This is not an army.
This is an old woman patting the Ghost General's head as he helps her lift a bag of radishes. This is an old man crowing about his latest attempt at wine. This is a young child, a child, running to wrap around Wei Wuxian's leg.
The crowd turns and falls quiet. Lan Xichen cannot attempt to hide his antlers or tail, much less his pristine clothes. He nods and smiles as kindly as he can, bidding a polite greeting.
Wen Qing emerges from the throng. She salutes stiffly. "Sect Leader Lan."
Wei Wuxian swings the child into his arms. "A-Yuan, go back to Granny."
A-Yuan instead grins at Lan Xichen and yells, "Rich-gege!"
Wei Wuxian laughs. "No, no, this is his big brother. He came to talk." He's looking at Wen Qing as he says this. "We won't be long."
Wen Qing's eyes flick between them. At length, she holds out a hand and says, "A-Yuan."
A-Yuan pouts but allows Wei Wuxian to put him down. "Bye, Big Brother!"
Lan Xichen waves. "Wonderful to meet you, A-Yuan."
Wei Wuxian resumes walking with more urgency in his step. Beyond the quaint settlement is a cave. Wei Wuxian throws a few talismans around the entrance and demands without preamble, "What's wrong with Lan Zhan?"
Lan Xichen explains the situation despite his spinning thoughts. A-Yuan's face has been burned there, igniting a wildfire that makes his tail twitch like a hatchling's. Somehow he manages to sound steady throughout.
"The consequences," he adds, "are not well-known."
Wei Wuxian has somehow grown more pale. "Then why have you told me?" He attempts to smirk. "Is it because you know I have nobody to tell?"
Lan Xichen keeps his smile fixed to his face. "I tell you because Wangji will take no one but you."
For some reason this surprises Wei Wuxian. For some reason, he cries, "But Lan Zhan hates me!"
Lan Xichen stares.
And stares.
Wei Wuxian's nose twitches. "Don't look at me like that. You and Lan Zhan are too much alike."
It's been years since anyone's said that about Lan Xichen and his brother. But if that were true, Wei Wuxian wouldn't be gaping like a dead chicken.
"How..." Lan Xichen pauses and attempts to word this properly. In the end, he can only say, "Please explain."
Wei Wuxian blinks. "I mean, he's made his opinion about my cultivation clear. He keeps telling me to come back to Gusu and everything!"
"...I see."
This is an utter lie. Lan Xichen has not outright lied in years.
Wei Wuxian shakes his head. "Besides, what would I do as a rider? I..." he swallows. For a moment, his expression darkens. "No. It's impossible."
Lan Xichen looks at him. Looks around the cave. Thinks of the child outside. He makes the executive decision to open his rider-bond and say, I need help.
While Mingjue implodes in his skull, Lan Xichen says, "I believe there has been a slight misunderstanding."
Wei Wuxian raises an eyebrow. "You think?"
"...several misunderstandings."
Wei Wuxian scoffs and crosses his arms. "So what would you have me do? I'm not saying I believe you about Lan Zhan's feelings," spirits above, he can't be serious, "but am I supposed to write him a letter? I'm not going to Gusu, if I haven't made that clear."
Lan Xichen answers Mingjue's barrage of questions while replying, "What would be your decision?"
"What? Sect Leader Lan, I can't possibly accept!" Lan Xichen's stomach drops. "The cultivation world will skin him alive, for one! And I can't leave the Wens alone!"
"Disregarding all of that," Lan Xichen says, "What would be your answer?"
Wei Wuxian's brow furrows. "Disre..." He laughs. "Forgive me, Sect Leader Lan, but did you hit your head on your way here?"
"Wei Wuxian."
The cave vibrates. Shadows curl around Wei Wuxian, ready to defend.
Lan Xichen closes his eyes until he can smile again. "If none of that existed. Would you accept?"
Wei Wuxian falters. The shadows disperse, leaving him small and sad. It reminds Lan Xichen painfully of how young he is despite his deeds.
"Lan Zhan is too good," Wei Wuxian murmurs, "Too good." He huffs with a pained smile. "If the world was magically better, and he asked me, I could never say no."
Mingjue, now informed of the situation, has Baxia-sharp focus. The cutting edges are comforting.
"Young Master Wei," Lan Xichen says, "I will return soon."
Nie Mingjue despises the Wens. He has made that abundantly clear. But he is also a good man. A man who will not, in good conscience, look at the people in the Burial Mounds and stand aside.
A baffled Wei Wuxian is roped into giving that tour.
Lan Xichen thinks he owes Jiang Wanyin an apology. The man had tried so hard to protect his brother, but no one had helped him, not even Wei Wuxian.
Afterwards, the three of them stand in the cave and Nie Mingjue considers Wei Wuxian. Wei Wuxian considers him in turn, shoulders slightly curled, ready to defend himself and the Wens.
The moment Lan Xichen pictures him being spoiled by his brother is when he knows the decision is made.
"Alright," Mingjue bellows, "let's gather the sects."
Wei Wuxian's says, "Huh?"
Since Wei Wuxian is so leery about Gusu, the conference takes place in Qinghe. Wangji is the first to arrive, sailing on the wind.
Wei Wuxian watches him land in open awe. No, he's smitten. Oh dear.
"Wei Ying" is of course the first thing Wangji says with human lips.
"Lan Zhan," Wei Wuxian replies, "Your brother said some weird things."
Wangji's pupils turn to slits. "Brother?"
Lan Xichen puts his hands behind his back. "You have a preference."
Wangji's expression doesn't change, but he can't hide his sorrow from Lan Xichen. "He has already refused."
"Eh?" Wei Wuxian cries, "What do you mean?"
Wangji looks like a scolded hatchling and Lan Xichen's talons twitch in his fingers. "You will not come to Gusu."
"Wh...you...what?"
Nie Mingjue is very amused. Lan Xichen internally chides him. It does not work.
"I thought you were going to punish me!" Wei Wuxian says.
Wangji's eyes widen. "Would never punish Wei Ying."
"But! You don't like me?"
Nie Mingjue snorts.
Wangji sends him a glare before responding. "I never said that." His ears turn red. "Like Wei Ying."
Wei Wuxian is red as well, only it's his entire face. "Lan Zhan?"
Wangji's tail flicks. "I do. I...I want." His throat bobs. "I want your harness."
Wei Wuxian chokes. "That...that sounds...why did you say it like that? No, just." He hides his head in his hands. "Lan Zhan. Lan Zhan."
Wangji averts his eyes. "But you have refused me. Brother had no right to bother you."
"Bother? I? No!" Wei Wuxian groans. "Lan Zhan, you are the best person in the world. Who wouldn't like you?"
Silence. Wangji's mouth hangs open. It's hilarious and Lan Xichen refuses to laugh. In his mind, Mingjue cackles for him.
"Okay," Wei Wuxian says, slightly muffled by his fingers, "Okay. Stop. Back up." He drops his hands and points to Wangji. "You, Lan Zhan, Lan Wangji, Hanguang-Jun." Points to himself. "Wants me to be your rider. Because you like me."
Wangji's ears are almost purple. "Mn." Quieter, he adds, "Very much."
Wei Wuxian gapes at him. "Holy fuck."
He runs into Wangji's arms.
"Holy fuck!" he cries again, "Lan Zhan! Holy fuck!"
Wangji's eyes are shining. "Mn."
Wei Wuxian buries his face in his shoulder. "Maybe one day, when all this dies down, we can..."
He pulls back with an aggrieved noise. "No. No, wait. I...ah, Lan Zhan, don't look like that! It's just. There's...it's just that...ah, hell."
He grasps Wangji's wrists. Wangji reciprocates.
Wangji pales.
Says, "Wei Ying."
Wei Wuxian yanks his face towards him and whispers rapidly in his ear. Lan Xichen's senses can pick it up despite his best efforts at giving them privacy: "So you see, Lan Zhan, it can't work, I'm sorry, but it—"
And Lan Xichen could have gone his whole life without knowing what his brother looks like shoving his tongue down someone's throat.
"Wangji."
Golden eyes open in catlike slits.
Lan Xichen smiles. "A-Yao just gave me the news. Not even Jin Guangshan could dispute what's in front of him. When he wakes, please tell Young Master Wei that the Wens may stay in Gusu."
It's been weeks of sleepless nights and restraint. Wei Wuxian hadn't wanted the Wens anywhere near the conference, but "Granny" and "Uncle Four" convinced him to let at least them, Wen Qing and Wen Qionglin to go. In the meantime, the Wens were given space in the Unclean Realm under Nie Mingjue's watch.
Wangji, for reasons undisclosed to even Lan Xichen, has stopped saying anything against Wei Wuxian's cultivation. He still does not seem pleased with it, but when asked, he expounds on Wei Wuxian's virtue and sense of justice until the other person is forced to give up asking him.
For his part, Wei Wuxian puts on the Yiling Patriarch ferocity until Lan Xichen asks about A-Yuan. At first, Wei Wuxian had been visibly thrown by the question. Then he started talking like a proud father. When he mentioned how smart A-Yuan is for a toddler, many cultivators shifted in their seats.
A-Yuan did make a brief appearance in the proceedings, with Wei Wuxian and the gathered Wens watching like hawks and Wangji in scales. A-Yuan had screamed at the sight of the Jins.
To the surprise of absolutely no one, Jiang Wanyin is quick to join Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue. Well, Wei Wuxian is surprised, but Lan Xichen has lost his trust in Wei Wuxian's basic emotional awareness.
So it comes to this: Wei Wuxian sleeping soundly, holding Wangji's tail with all four limbs, A-Yuan snuggled in Wangji's mane. Wangji has promised Wei Wuxian a flight. Lan Xichen wonders at Wei Wuxian's crying as he listened. Soon, they will be among Wangji's hoard of rabbits.
("He hoards what? But he didn't have any when I gave him those two!"
"...excuse me?")
Wangji is not just content. He is happy. Another smile for Lan Xichen's own hoard.

Sen Çal Kapımı / Edser Asks
After the fragman, I got a few anons this afternoon, my answer are under the cut.
(Also my initial reactions are in this post.)
Anonymous said: In the spirit of optimism- when Eda broke up with Serkan in 25, everyone freaked out but by the end of the next episode, she proposed LOL. Maybe just maybe they won’t do the “everyone pretends Selin and Serkan are a thing for medical reasons for multiple episodes” route and someone gets her kicked to the curb in 29. I wonder how much of the 2.5 hrs will be before he comes back and how much is after.
LOL, I certainly would like Selin to be back for only one episode. I hope my speculation is right (this post,)and her narrative purpose is to make Serkan distrust Eda from the start and once she’s done that she can exit stage right.
As for the theory you mention, which I have seen on twitter, I don’t see people pretending they’re together for medical reasons. That makes zero sense to me (not that medical diagnosis on a silly romantic dramedy dizi would be accurate, lol) why would that be necessary? Why would anyone go along with that? Especially when all he would need to do is google himself to find out about his relationship with Eda.  They were all over the tabloids and on the cover of a magazine. Plus it seems like he knows about Eda, Selin tells him "she turned you into someone you’re not and dragged you into a different world.”  He has to know they were in a relationship.
There is a lot of knee-jerk hysteria over there right now which is leading to completely neurosis-induced, nonsensical, worst-case scenario speculation. I recommend avoiding for awhile if anyone is easily upset by that type of thing.
As for the timeline of the ep, great question. I am hoping that the walk into ArtLife is not the end of the episode. We’re going to need to see Serkan and Eda meeting face to face before this episode is up in order to survive! We know almost the full cast (including Hande and Kerem) were shooting at a cafe yesterday, and the cast looked dressed up. Most thought it was for 1x28, so that seems like there are scenes with Serkan and the full cast in this ep.
Though, the show has a lot of questions to answer.  How in God’s name did he end up in that cabin? Did he get on the plane or not?  Was he held captive and got dropped in the woods with only Selin’s phone number? Has he been in a coma?  Was there foul play involved?   Was there a brain injury or did Babaanne arrange his kidnapping and give him some experimental drug to wipe out his memories of Eda?
Not sure if this Deniz is a law enforcement official or some sort of private detective, but there would have been some sort of official inquiry and search when he went missing. So he can’t just be lazing around for 2 months, easily findable. And Selin can’t have been with him for anything length of time without the others knowing he’s alive, because that would pretty much be kidnapping. So what HAPPENED?
Anonymous said: I hope we get good Eda and Aydan moments. She didn’t get married but she is still Aydan’s daughter now. He’s going to come back and find that this woman has his mother, his company, his dog, his car, his friends.....there’s no way that he doesn’t just know that Selin has been a snake.
Yes, please!  I’m sure we will get Eda and Aydan moments, it looks from the first trailer that they will lean on each other while he’s missing. Which they should, they’ll be the two that will hold out hope and give one another comfort.
I am LOVING that Eda is driving his car and taking care of his dog. As she should, they were hours away from being married! And yes, you’re correct, he’s going to find Eda so deeply embedded in everything he remembers (except Selin) that it’s going to drive him crazy. Who is this woman and how did she ensorcell him so thoroughly? Can’t wait for him to find out.
You know what I’m most looking forward to in regards to Aydan? Serkan’s shock that his mother has conquered her agoraphobia. Can’t wait for him to find out that Eda was instrumental in helping her do that.
She is going to hit him like an emotional freight train. A second time.
Anonymous said: i know most of the fandom has already accepted it as fact bc they can't wait for the actual ep to make conclusions, but i'm less inclined to believe he's been in that cabin w/ selin for 2 months.. idk HOW he gets there, or how selin ends up there.. but for some reason i think they find him first, and he takes off by himself for a bit as he's overwhelmed with the whole situation.. and then selin enters. idk, we'll have to see it, but i think, like all trailers, it's confusing on purpose.
This theory is definitely possible. That he’s found and freaks out and goes to the cabin. Perhaps the last he remembers he was still with Selin so he reaches out to her for answer about what’s going on.  That would make sense why he accepts her comfort, and she gives it, but can’t help herself from trying to do everything in her power to make him distrust Eda. Even if she doesn’t have hope of reconciliation, just to cause chaos because she doesn’t want them to find happiness together. She’s said it more than once, she didn’t want him happy, while she was not.
Anonymous said: I am not emotionally prepared to watch the look on Eda’s face when Serkan walks in holding hands with Selin after being missing for the last two months....😭😭😭. Also even if Serkan & Selin are purely platonic watching their scenes together are going to be brutal. I am prepared to cry ( both tears of joy & sadness) & be very mad at various points in this episode. It will be an rollercoaster of emotions for sure.
Yep, pretty much all of this!  I don’t think I’m going to enjoy watching this episode at all. However, my hope is that I will really enjoy watching the storyline that it sets up where we get to watch Serkan fall in love with Eda all over again.  Think of all the delicious, UST-y, sexy, funny, fiery, passionate scenes that are in store for us!
Off the top of my head, things I want:
Serkan opening Madonna in a Fur Coat and finding their photo
Serkan’s deep-seated memory kicking in and mindlessly tearing the crusts off bread for her without realizing it or knowing why
Finding out his computer password and what it means
Seeing photos of them from their matchmaking party. Looking so in love and surrounded by friends and family and everyone looks so happy
One of the friends, Engin or Piril snapping and telling him the big change Eda brought about in him was just that he was happy
Serkan seeing media clippings of them and their relationship
Eda handcuffing him so they have to spend time together while trying to jog his memory
After being suspicious and trying to keep her at arms length, Serkan finally breaking down and asking her questions about their relationship
Serkan being mistrustful of her, but still unable to say no to her
Anonymous said: So I get that SCK is going through a reset and now we will get to watch Eda & Serkan fall in love again but seriously they brought Selin back like that...WTF? Now she is even worse than Balca. Plus the entire world thinks Serkan is dead but somehow Selin found him and never bothered to tell anyone else...that should send up some red flags for sure. Regardless of the explanation, this situation is going to crush Eda. And it seems like a lot to go through to have him immediately get his memories back so we could be stuck with this storyline for a while.
Yes, poor Eda is going to be crushed no matter what.  However, I know that people have been theorizing that the memory loss would be short, but I never thought it would be.  What’s the point of this reset unless they’re going to follow through with it and milk it for as many episode as possible. They’re trying to find ways to keep this show going and this is their big swing.
The entire point is to recreate the magic of Eda and Serkan falling in love, and, honestly, I'm not sure why anyone would want that to be over in 2 episodes. I don’t see it as being stuck with the amnesia story, I’m excited for all the parallels, watching Serkan get struck by lightning a second time when he first sees her.  Watching him be suspicious of her, of her motives of her abilities, but then finding out all the same things that he found out the first time, that she’s fierce, kind-hearted, loyal and talented. And just a bright shining light for him.
My heart melts just thinking about it.  We just have to get rid of that opportunistic, malevolent, bitter hag.
Anonymous said: one complaint that i've seen in regards to sck is that characters aren't sent off properly.. but outside of maybe fifi (which we don't know how they'll explain her leaving) am i the only one that doesn't... really care? everyone that's left has been unsubstantial or in a villain role, and personally whatever way they leave i'm fine with lol.. i know when selin left ppl were mad bc they wanted a redemption story arc for her.. but not every character NEEDS that by default, if that makes sense.
For context, this ask was sent before the fragman.  I agree with you, no side character needs redemption by default. I’ve said it many times, but on this specific show, really only two characters matter: Eda and Serkan. This is their story. Their love story. Everyone else is supporting in the truest sense of the word. They all exist to prop up the A story. So for most of them their journey doesn’t matter unless it directly affects Eda or Serkan. (Aydan’s growth and redemption has directly impacted Eda and Serkan and that’s why time has been spent on it). Selin is a tool. She’s behaved erratically at time because she only exists for the writers to use her to antagonize the protagonists. Her story in and of itself does not matter.
I laughed hysterically when some on twitter were thinking Serkan might really be dead and Kerem was leaving the show.
Seriously? You think they would try to keep this show going without Edser? That anyone would pay money for it, without them?  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! If one of them were to leave, the show would be over. Dead. Cancelled. There is NO reason for this show to keep going other than for more Edser. Everything else is an after thought, filler, or characters that prop up Eda and Serkan either literally or symbolically or thematically. Nothing else stands on it’s own.
They devised this storyline in order to go back to the magic of these two people falling in love. Full stop. That’s why we’re seeing this reset.  Because no other characters or their storylines are compelling enough to carry the show.  I applaud the writers for creating a situation where we could watch Serkan fall in love with Eda one more time. (just get rid of Selin, please, so I can enjoy it... and do it quickly.)

MODERN AU HUAISANG MODERN AU HUAISANG
(this refers to the WIP tag game I completed a few days ago!)
So I’ve been obsessed with transmigration for a long ass time and when I discovered there was actually a name for it, and- guess what? it’s a whole subgenre in Chinese novels/tv? I may have lost it a bit. So I def had to do one for The Untamed and I thought Nie Huaisang would make the most sense.
I think I’ve actually posted a beginning snippet of this before, but I’ll repost that + a bit extra :)
Every year on his birthday, Nie Huaisang wishes for a phone. He squeezes his eyes shut tight and mutters over and over: “Please please I just wanna be able to hear my tunes on blast in the middle of a bath, when I wake up in the morning, when I’m on the goddamn toilet. Please have mercy and give me back my phone.”
Instead, what he gets is a guqin. An erhu. A dizi.
When he turns a despairing gaze on his dear, clueless older brother (who has no hope of ever ever knowing what a fucking phone is because this is ancient China), Mingjue just gives him a blank look. “What? If you want to hear music whenever you want, you have to learn how to play it.”
Huaisang buries his mournful wail in his hands.
• ❁ •
Huaisang wonders if this happens to everyone. If after you die, you immediately wake up as another person in the craziest fucking place as far away from your previous life as it’s possible to get. Are you supposed to remember your past life? If so, he only remembers the one, and if not— what the hell went wrong? Can he get a redo? Can his memory just get wiped? At least that way he doesn’t have to remember everything he’s missing.
His phone, for one. His annoying baby sister who hated him more than loved him, but god damn does he miss mussing up her hair and seeing her stuck her lip out at him in a furious scowl. His friends, he guesses. He was never too close with anyone, but at least he was closer with people in his previous life than here. Fuck he misses his birds. Misses hearing them chitter in the mornings and whenever he tried to study.
But most of all he misses his phone. Easy entertainment. Easy to way to keep all his random thoughts organized. Easy access to information. Easy access to music. He used to listen to music near constantly.
The silence is deafening now.
What I love about this AU is that I think it could totally fit into canon. But because I want everyone (well...not EVERYONE) to be alive and happy, Nie Huaisang manages to fuck things up but in a good way. Maybe.
I’m also a little obsessed with the idea of Nie Huaisang (art major extraordinaire) constantly trying to invent things from the future that he misses. Like flushing toilets.
“Have you heard heard? Qinghe Nie has this new thing called...sucking toilets.”
“Sucking toilets? Do you- do you get sucked into them?!?!”
“I think it might be a new form of torture! But it uses a lot of water so thank goodness the Wen will think it’s too expensive to use!”
Meanwhile, Meng Yao has lost his favourite hat to the sucking toilet.
And alsoooo I love the idea of Nie Huaisang and Lan Zhan becoming friends purely because Lan Zhan can play music.
Nie Huaisang loves Lan Zhan bc Lan Zhan is like his new iPhone, pumping out music whenever he wants. A nice low drone in the background. He tries to get Lan Zhan to do peppier things, but Lan Zhan is confused.
“What is this called again?”
“Fuck Machine.”
“......And did you....write this song?”
“I guess you could say I did! It won’t come out for another thousand years, so!”
And Lan Zhan is so used to these little passing comments by now that he just goes along with it and Nie Huaisang loves him for it.
(Then Lan Zhan meets Wei Wuxian and plays Fuck Machine constantly)
(this is specifically for you, slutspeare!!! <3)
Also, okay. Wei Wuxian learns how to play the flute and absolutely rOCKS. Husaing teaches his some rap/rock&roll and it’s FUN.
Also Huaisang using modern colloquial terms all. The. Time. (“This slaps Dage.”) Esp for sexuality:
“Oh, you’re a lesbian.”
“What?”
“You want to sleep with other women.”
“There’s- there’s a word for that?”
“There is now.”
There is angst involved bc I’m ME, but I thought I’d give you the more fun bits, after the angst fest of the earlier asks :)

I want to start off by saying that this show is hilarious. The amount of times I'm losing it in my room seriously... Selim and Akgün together are a riot. "My good son, my wonderful son, my stupid son" lmao I was like, THATS ME WITH AKGÜN! MY STUPID, WONDERFUL SON THAT I LOVE WITH ALL MY HEART!! The car chase lmao...Akgün being, "everything's over, they were short term feelings" and Selim threatening him with the gun when he said that lol. He won't let Akgün live in either situations.
The watch scene 😭😭😭😭. I DONT WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT!!! AKGÜN GETTING THE ACCEPTANCE HE'S ALWAYS WANTED!! I'm gonna start crying all over again. The chemistry between Alperen and Ali is amazing! Watching that scene a second time, it made me feel like Selim was also sort of, in a way, going to give his blessings for Akmur. Idk, what do you think?
Selim having second thoughts after seeing how devastated both were after the breakup, lol that was nice to see; how his conscience was eating him up
CanSel are just so damn adorable! Literally the cutest divorced couple ever
I'm so glad we got to see how bad the breakup was affecting Akmur. Like they didn't goes over it, I really liked that. Poor Akgün got a double whammy dealing with the breakup and photo. And my girl Yağmur!! I felt so bad for her, crying at school. Literally the worst place to have a breakdown (and oh, I WANT THOSE SELFIES!! WHERE ARE THE SELFIES?? WHERE ARE THEY???). Her happiness when Akgün called her. Legit disliked him there for 1 minute bc she was so happy to see him and him avoiding her hug. Ugggghhh Akgün
I don't care but I do not feel one bit bad for Kaan. He deserved it. Dude just killed any hopes he had of getting back with Yağmur. Not that she would get back with him but now Selim will kill him if he even looks at her
Naz & Soner!!!! (Will not complain about them getting a better edited kiss. Nope. Nuh-uh. I will not be one of those fans. Just kidding, I complained but like for a minute)
Yesss!!! I'm so glad the Bedri thing came back to Yağmur. I want to see mom and daughter take him down. If anybody can do it, it's them two. Especially Yağmur, like she said, she won't rest until she exposes him
Oh and Soner being the bestest friend ever!?!? He was serious when he said he doesn't forget the good things people do for him. He was on Akgün watch all day lol. I want more scenes of him and Akgün just being roommates
Anyways, some people are thinking that Selim and Akgün have something up their sleeve after that last shared look. Idk and honestly I'm just here for the ride. No theorizing for me lol
Tbh this show is so damn funny. And emotional. And dramatic. And romantic. There’s so many good parts about it, it’s just great. Akgün and Selim’s scenes at the police station and during the car chase absolutely cRACKED me up!!! And then the scene with the watch absolutely WRECKED me. Seeing Akgün get that acceptance he’s been looking for meant soooooo much! Alperen did such an amazing job in that scene. I was just a sobbing mess watching it. But, yeah when I first watched it the first thing that came to my mind was, is this watch meant to symbolize yağmur, is he giving his blessing, is he finally okay with them being together???? And idk, I’m excited to see how Selim treats them next episode, it’s going to be interesting seeing this development now that he’s really accepted Akgün . And as much as I loved seeing Selim feel bad about Yağmur hurting (that heart to heart they had in the garden was so so good), I just loved seeing how guilty he felt about Akgün. Like those moments when Selim was complaining about him and Canan was just like please, you know you love him and you know you feel guilty. Or when Akgün mentioned how they just can’t seem to separate, like no matter how mad he gets at Akgün, they’re bonded for life, they can’t get rid of each other!!!
Cansel was absolutely adorable, I really feel like it’s just a matter of time before they really do start dating again and I can’t waittttttt! Now, the Akmur fight. I was genuinely so mad at Akgün in that moment. He was breaching that type of jealousy that I hate in these dizis, that possessive, controlling type and I just hope they don’t really continue on that path. I so badly wanted him to apologize for it and they just made it seem like him beating up Kaan was enough and it wasn’t. I was proud of how she stood up to him in that moment, but the fact that Yağmur didn’t really make him answer for it kind of upset me. And in regards to the whole Kaan thing, what Akgün said was basically in the same vein of what Kaan was saying. Sure what Kaan said was a bit more extreme, implied something worse than what Akgün said, and was more insulting. And Akgün’s statement was more so based on just jealousy and the ‘ex-boyfriend’ of it all (plus him still being angry about the marriage situation) while Kaan’s was more so basic slut shaming, but it’s all the same ‘you can’t touch any other man while we’re together’ foolishness and it’s just gross. That being said, as much as I hated what the actual akmur fight was about, I LOVED the scene. Like idk what it was about it, but Alperen and Hafsanur’s chemistry and was on point in that scene. Between Yağmur just yelling at this brick wall that is a jealous Akgün and just being so done with Akgün’s low ass emotional iq, and Akgün only being able to focus on her calling Kaan her ex-boyfriend, that scene is just great!!!
Speaking of that scene, on youtube there were a bunch of comments saying like oh is this akgün and yagmur that we’re watching or canan and selim or wow akmur has really turned into cansel. And I just find it so interesting. I mean there have been examples in other episodes, but in this episode in particular they showed how similar the two couples are. Like of course it’s been brought up before how Akgün and Selim had similar upbringings, how Selim sees himself in Akgün. And in 14, you could see Yağmur following in similar footsteps as Canan, sacrificing herself for love. But in this episode they like specifically called it out multiple times. Idk it’s interesting. I wonder what they’re trying to say with that or where they’re going with it.
But that scene with Yağmur and Akgün when they’re talking about his brother legitimately made me cry. The way she is always teaching him to hope and dream just makes me so emotional. She is so fucking good for him, i can’t believe it.
Oh yeah, and as much as I love Akgün and Selim living together, I am so excited to see Akgün and Soner as roommates!! I adore their friendship so so much. Seeing how concerned Soner was for Akgün and seeing him constantly watch over him was so nice. And I loved Naz and Soner’s kiss it was so sweet. I saw a comment somewhere about how Soner did what it took Akgün 13 episodes to do lmaooooo honestly Soner made his mooooove!!

The forbidden crack! Untamed prompts: 25/?
Gaming Chat AU [xuexiao + songxiao = ?]: “Lie to Me”
[tw cyber bullying; tw use of slurs; tw fake suicide mention; there’s a redemption arc, but it starts with 15yo Xue Yang being... well, himself I guess. so be warned.]
[attn!: I don’t know shit about playing games and going to quests with strangers on the internet so bear with me. if you feel inspired by this please, by all means, feel free to use this prompt and write something and then tag me so I can read it and reblog it!]
[enjoy!]
*
It’s been 15 years since that idiotic intern at the school counseling center suggested him to... what did he say? “Channel his anger in something productive”. And then tried to talk Meng Shi into purchasing a fucking computer to let him “get off some steam” by killing fictional people instead of smashing actual valuable objects like, say, the principal’s Mercedes with a stolen golf club, or, the nurse’s desk with a fire extinguisher back in middle school.
Good thing Su She had disappeared under mysterious circumstances after Xue Yang had surreptitiously let the intern’s uni professor know in a detailed email how the aspiring counselor had suggested him (a sweet innocent 15 year old) to use his new computer to watch porn instead of focusing on his studies. Song Lan was much better than him, and bitchier too, which was fine by Xue Yang anyway. Not that he cared.
What good had that stupid glorified television brought him in the end? Most of the computers at school had become intimately familiar with many a malware and virus already with how frequently he used to browse through the deep web. The ones at the local library had let him in on the secrets of 4ch*n since the tender age of 8. Hell, even his pediatrician had made the glorious mistake to leave him alone in her office one merry day of winter when he discovered the wonders of x-rated videos.
But Meng Shi had tried to cheer him up anyway, buying him that stupid thing. Working her ass off at the bar trying to make social services forget she used to be a stripper back in the days. All to provide a place for children in foster care to feel safe, the stupid hag. Xue Yang wasn’t fucking stupid, he knew she was collecting money for every kid ever stepping inside her ratty flat. He knew that she would have never adopted anyone for real because she already had a son and she was working to send him to university anyway.
Yet, she had come home one day with a big smile on her youngish and bland face, hoisting up the heavy computer in a box, and told Xue Yang to share it with his siblings. Yeah, fuck that. That little bitch A-Qing was even worse than him, and she probably used to sell feet-pictures recycled from the internet to disgusting men online. To this day Xue Yang is none the wiser and he doesn’t need to know what that fucking witch had been up to at 14. XuanYu would have used the computer to stream and torrent shit nonstop to sell at school even if he was only, like, 12. Qin Su was 15 like him and she would have been tempted to set up a fucking YT channel and subject him and XuanYu to whatever scientific experiment she would have come up with. And Meng Yao had too much embarrassing blackmail material on Xue Yang already, he didn’t need to have access on his erased search history after digging gods-knows for how long.
Ahah no. No thanks.
But detention got him occupied for so long by cutting library books pages down to papermen without getting bored out of his mind. And he did have his fun that one time when he caught a pervert with a hand down his pants when they chatted on Om*gle after Xue Yang had catfished him good by pretending to be a girl. Got everything on tape and published the whole interaction on the school website for everyone to see. Which had been appropriate at the time, given that the man had been part of the board of directors. Fittingly hilarious too.
Still, boredom loomed over him like a quilt of sadness on summer break and he had been tempted to log in and play games in the end. Nobody wanted him in their stupid ass teams anyway, with him having higher kill counts than them and all, not following tactics and so on. Whatever.
Until one day user shuan_ghua naively trusted Xue Yang when the other assured him that “teabagging“ was just a fancy slang for ordering a cup of jasmine tea. The 17 year old boy named Xiao XingChen had thanked him for teaching something new to him and then proceeded to ask him to join his one-man-party out of fucking nowhere.
Everything changed after that.
[more under the cut. it’s long long tho]
XXC family!:
XXC is 17 at the beginning of the story and he used to live with his mother Baoshan [i know that “Sanren” and “Daoren” are titles, but in absence of a real surname I will use them as such for this prompt. feel free to change that if you take inspiration from this post to write your take on the story] and the rest of their family on a mountain before they moved back to the city in Gusu.
XXC’s mother was barely 20 when she got married the first time and her first son Daoren YanLing was born. two years later her husband died and she travelled a lot afterwards, adopting 4yo CanSe when she was 25. then she married again at 41, had XXC at 44, and then divorced at 48.
CanSe eloped with ChangZe when she was 18 and got WWX at 20, the same year her own mother got married again (at 41).
BaoShan got XXC three years later (at 44).
hence, WWX is 3 whole ass years older than XXC despite being his nephew. both boys find the thing absolutely hilarious.
YanLing and CanSe are only 1 year apart and they still bicker nonstop. both of them went to school with Lan QiRen and his older brother and frequently got in fights back in the days at Gusu.
(if YanLing had a thing for Lan QiRen, well, nobody has to know)
XXC, being the baby of his family, is doted on by YanLing and brought to mischief by CanSe until XXC’s father divorces their mother and they move on the mountain along with ChangZe and 7yo WWX.
up on the mountain BaoShan works as a tour guide and she takes baby XXC and WWX on hikes along with tourists to admire the beauty of the scenery.
XXC’s sight starts deteriorating when he is 12 and WWX is 15. they have been homeschooled until then, so when it gets clear XXC will not improve much so far away from proper healthcare, the whole family moves back to the city in Gusu.
XXC is not comfortable leaving his new home, not with all those new noises and flashing lights. WWX is drawn to them instead, more than happy to enroll in school, where he meets JC and he realizes the boy is the son of CanSe’s middle school boyfriend. WWX declares them to be almost-brothers and is perfectly fine with adopting even JC’s older sister in the family and CanSe can only laugh at that. JC and YanLi visit XXC often as a result and they help him make sense of the new environment without stressing him too much.
YanLing finds a job as a cook in WWX’s school and he is back to making Lan QiRen’s life impossible after learning the man is a teacher there.
LWJ and LXC’s mother is a music teacher there as well and YanLing bonds with her to make Lan QiRen life’s an absolute nightmare.
LWJ and LXC make friends with the mountain gremlins and they are initially horrified by their manners: XXC would pick food from the ground and eat it, it doesn’t have to be his for that to happen to begin with; WWX doesn’t realize he should cut his nails (both for his feet and hands) until he is forced to wear shoes outside and not climb up trees, for he assumed nails simply never grew bc he used them constantly, wearing them down; etc.
LWJ hates himself for falling for WWX but he cannot care less.
LXC notices how lonely XXC feels when wangxian becomes a thing, so he buys him a computer to better gather more information about the world and adjust the settings to maximum accessibility whenever XXC wants to read something.
by the age of 17 XXC is mostly left alone in the house: WWX goes to uni; his mother BaoShan works at a local museum; his brother YanLing is trying to not get fired at his job; and his sister CanSe has started to travel with her husband selling the delicate dizi flutes ChangZe makes as an artisan.
XXC is also on the waiting list for an important eye surgery and he figures he has a couple of years to go before he will either lose his sight or be granted a second chance at life altogether.
XY’s family!:
Meng Shi had Meng Yao at 19 and started stripping the following year in Yunmeng.
her friend SiSi helped her both financially and emotionally, spending time with A-Yao while she worked at night. after four years she can move out of her flat and finds a job as a bartender downtown. she would have kept her old job, if SiSi hadn’t convinced her to think of A-Yao first, who was painfully shy and didn’t know how to socialize with other kids his age.
at 24 she starts the paperwork to become a foster parent and has to child-proof her entire apartment before the first kid arrives. at 25 she welcomes Qin Su, who is only 5, and initially A-Yao doesn’t want to share his mother with anyone. the situation gets bad to the point social services have to take Qin Su away one year later, because she tried to set A-Yao’s hair on fire in retaliation once, but two years later Meng Shi gets her back.
A-Yao, now 9 years old, has thought about it and reasoned that having a sister wasn’t so bad after all. Qin Su is only one year younger than him and she will not take up much space, right? wrong. but they bond over their shared nerdiness and while A-Su likes to blow things up, A-Yao helps his mother with taxes every year.
at 29 Meng Shi takes in XuanYu, who is not an orphan like A-Su, and still misses his birth mother fiercely. she had to give him up for adoption when he was 3, because she had been only 15 when XuanYu was born and her family threatened to disown her.
being profoundly deaf on top of that, no foster home wanted to have him and he was kept in the system for three years after his mother had to let him go. the woman had tried to be present for him while he waited for a family to pick him, teaching him sign language and reading lips, but she had been forced to eventually let go.
XuanYu arrives at Meng Shi’s when he’s 6. A-Yao (10yo) and A-Su (9yo) try their best to involve their new brother, but they don’t know how to communicate with him. SiSi takes the children to sign language classes at the community center after school and XuanYu warms up to them. he teaches Meng Shi what they learned the previous day every morning, before going to school. teachers don’t really pay attention to him, but he manages by reading lips when people face him properly, which is a rare occurrence, but he tries his best.
when A-Yao and A-Su realizes A-Yu is being bullied, they start to get nasty, setting backpacks on fire and terrorizing the other children at school. even when they move to middle school one after the other nobody picks on A-Yu, fearing what his siblings could do.
XY arrives at Meng Shi’s when she is 32 (A-Yu is 9, A-Su is 12, A-Yao is 13) and XY is 12. A-Su initially gets jealous bc they are the same age, but XY doesn’t talk to anyone for a year and ignores her attempts to rile him up. Meng Shi had been warned about him: his father had killed his mother and then failed to kill himself afterwards... and XY still believed the man was out there, looking for him to finish the job. XY had lived on the street for years before social services could find him, but he had felt trapped like a dog, not wanting to be touched, frequently running away.
XY doesn’t remember much of his life before entering foster care. he only knows everything is a bother, that his nightmares give him constant migraines, and that he doesn’t care how he lost one of his fingers. but anyone who makes fun of him for that gets kicked, that’s for sure.
it’s only when A-Qing (12) comes one year after XY’s arrival that things get a bit better... so to speak.
she is even less well behaved than him, thrashing around at night, screaming at the top of her lungs, saying that she doesn’t want to be there. that she’s better than the rest of them combined.
her anger issues trigger something in XY and the two of them get into fights with each other constantly.
A-Yao (14) and A-Su (13), reminiscing of the 2 years they spent apart because they couldn’t stop hitting each other up, take the issue seriously and convince Meng Shi to ask for help. SiSi is the one taking A-Qing and XY to therapy two times a week and they are followed through by professionals who know how to tackle their issues, an elderly woman who goes by the name of Lan Yi (LWJ and LXC’s paternal grandma) and her assistant Wen Qing, an intern working there for uni credits.
one year later XY is 14 and A-Qing is 13 and they... don’t really love each other, but at least they can talk to one another without trying to kill anyone in the process. they spend a lot of time with A-Yu (11) and learn sign language to keep him entertained.
by the age of 35, Meng Shi has 5 kids and can barely afford food for herself but she is happy like never before. A-Yao (16) is already considered smart enough to attend advanced math classes in high school. A-Su (15) has won a science competition sponsored by city hall. A-Yang (15) is trying to work on his anger issues with video games, making friends online. A-Qing (14) doesn’t let anyone make fun of her for her dyslexia, asking adults and classmates to take her issue seriously for once. And A-Yu (12) wants to learn how to sign in different languages to maybe travel the world one day.
Meng Shi is very happy indeed.
now, the plot: (tw fake suicide mention; tw use of homophobic slurs)
XY (15) and XXC (17) meet online every night before bed, playing video games together. XY made a mistake first time they chatted, saying he was 17 instead of 15 bc he didn’t want the other to look down on him.
XXC trusts him a little too much and doesn’t question if his new friend is lying to him or not. he’s the funnies person he has ever met, after all.
WWX (20) notices something is wrong by the way XXC starts speaking around others, using inappropriate language when he has never been anything but polite and gentle. even if, technically, XXC is WWX’s uncle, the latter sees the other more like a cousin than anything else given that he’s older. so he takes the matter in his own hands and one day asks him to let him play games with him.
XY doesn’t like his only friend not telling him someone else would have joined their party, and initially he covers XXC in insults and threatens to leave. but then WWX is really good at killing fictional people and XY reconsiders. he makes fun of WWX for being the older one AND the other’s nephew at the same time, but aside from that he doesn’t try to run away like a caged animal anymore.
WWX trust XXC when the younger says XY is 17 like him, but he still supervisions most of their sessions just to be sure XY cannot teach too many horrible things to XXC. WWX wants XXC to make more friends and maybe one day leave the house to attend university if the other will feel inclined to do so, but he doesn’t pressure him.
in the meantime, XY changes counselor at school and it is Song Lan (23) who tries to make a better human out of him. SL is deaf and occasionally uses cochlear implants to hear, but only because his family made the choice for him to have surgery when he was only a child. he can speak if he feels like it at times (not frequently, he’s very adamant about reminding others he doesn’t owe them anything. he’s also trying to make a change at the school where he works by organizing classes on Deaf culture and sign language for the students to take as an elective)
XY already knew of SL thanks to XuanYu, bc A-Yu had seen the counselor at the community center where SiSi usually takes the kids to for sign language classes. counseling at school doesn’t really happen one-on-one, detention kids being too many to follow one at a time and all, but when SL comes by to chat with them he’s always funny as fuck and XY (who will never admit it) feels good about being the only one in class able to understand SL only through sign language.
SL forces himself to talk to the kids and read their lips only bc... well, they’re young and did nothing wrong to him. he occasionally asks XY to help him translate, but aside from that there are really too many kids to look after and he doesn’t treat XY differently from the others, nor he notices him much.
two years pass and XXC (19) announces to XY (17) that wangxian (22) is having their wedding. since XY has learned all about their family, he asks XXC if it’s a common thing to get married super young in their household and XXC laughs... but it’s a sad and brittle thing and XY gets a bit worried.
XXC reveals then that soon after the wedding he will have a surgery to (hopefully) fix his sight and he’s very anxious. he timidly asks XY if he wants to go to the wedding with him, because he would like to see his face at least once before the surgery.
XY panics: he knew XXC’s eyesight was bad, but he never knew to what extent exactly; he’s not really of age yet, so he cannot move on the other side of the country just to attend a wedding; he has never talked specifically about XXC with his family and Meng Shi is working a lot and A-Yu should get his hearing aids soon and A-Qing needs help for her finals and... and...
...and he’s not ready to meet XXC.
XY lied to him and told him they’re the same age. he had never told XXC his name, even if the other had revealed his own, always going by his username jiang_zai. he called him and chatted with him and made fun of his own family and the other had been nothing but kind and amazing and... and... and XY realizes he’s been in love for a while and he abhors the idea to the point where he openly laughs at XXC and calls him a sap.
XXC notices the change in his tone immediately and wonders if he’s overstepped, if he’s asked too much by inviting the other over to celebrate with the rest of the family. XXC apologizes to XY and begs him to not step away like he usually does when he feels cornered.
XY feels absolutely cornered and attacks XXC by asking him why he’s so keen on asking him out (“are you a f*g or something?” etc.). the other doesn’t even know what that means but hearing XY so scared hurts, bc he doesn’t want to make the other uncomfortable in any way.
XXC does like XY romantically, but would never dream to say anything and hinder their friendship. yet, it hurts more to hear his only friend so afraid and angry. he apologizes profusely and promises him not to bring the subject back.
after that, XY doesn’t log in much, avoiding XXC. A-Yao (18) notices he’s sullen and tries to spend more time with him, but the younger doesn’t budge and talks less and less. even SL (25) sees XY less and less, but he doesn’t thinks the younger one is actually skipping classes or anything.
but XY is, in fact, skipping school and Meng Shi covers for him saying he doesn’t feel well enough to go to class. she knows something’s up and she also understands the need to have days off in order to take care of yourself when everything goes to shit.
wangxian wedding happens and XXC is both happy and sad. they made him the official photographer of the day, which is both sweet and incredibly hurtful, because he’s the one taking all those beautiful pictures... and maybe he will never be able to look at them ever again after the surgery. WWX and LWJ already had to organize the wedding earlier than what they originally planned to accommodate XXC and the date of the surgery. XXC feels bad but he’s very happy for them.
YanLing and CanSe worry about him and they ask their mother to help them figure out what’s going on. BaoShan agrees with WWX that XXC had a fight with a friend, alright, but that cannot be all, surely...
it’s the week before XXC’s hospitalization and WWX takes the issue in his hands. logs in pretending to be XXC and plays until he takes XY’s place in the rankings of his and XXC’s favorite game.
XY receives notifications about it and initially fumes at the idea of being outranked, but then he understands what XXC is trying to do and doesn’t know how to react.
he does something horrible instead.
WWX waits to be contacted by this jiang_zai boy who broke XXC’s heart, but when it finally happens... it’s not the familiar, high-pitched voice he expects to hear in the chat. it’s a girl (A-Qing), who tells him her brother had died and that he won’t be playing games anymore. she sounds too serious to be joking and WWX tries to ask more about it... but she just tells him her brother killed himself before ending the call.
WWX doesn’t have the heart to tell this to XXC, not before the surgery and not until he has properly recovered (one year later).
XXC had wondered about XY in silence, not trusting himself to reveal all about his crush to his family, worrying about making the other boy uncomfortable.
XXC misses XY, but he is patient. he can wait.
A-Qing had agreed to lie for XY only because he lied to her first: he told her a creep on the internet had tried to meet with him and he needed a way out; outraged, A-Qing had helped him without a second thought and answered the chat in his place.
this spurs her to take more seriously what she and her siblings had been doing on the Internet and reconsiders some of the things she herself posted in the past. she will take this topic so much at heart that she will pursue an academic career to become a social worker.
XXC’s surgery goes well, but he still loses his sight after a while. WWX ends up telling him what happened to his online friend and XXC is so heartbroken he doesn’t even blame WWX for keeping the secret from him for so long.
after some time BaoShan makes sure he goes to therapy and takes better care of him, helping him figure out what to do. she fears people will look down on XXC and, as a blind person, he will probably be hindered by the system to pursue a career, so she retires from her job at the museum and focuses all of her attention on him.
XXC feels guilty for XY’s passing, but he doesn’t think the other had been triggered to commit suicide bc of him: XXC simply fears XY had hid a different type of sorrow from him; a pain so deep that XXC had failed to see while they were playing silly games. so, three years after the surgery, when he’s 21, he enrolls in uni to study psychology to help kids who are struggling to ask for help.
15 years after XXC and XY had met online:
XY is 30 and a professional carer. he studied to become a nurse, of all things, after what happened. he got a lot of time to think about the horrible thing he had done to XXC and considered helpings others to atone for that.
he is the first to say such a choice was very out of character for him, and even if he has to bite his tongues at times he doesn’t mind his job: it keeps him occupied and exhausts him well enough... but after working in the hospital for 5 or so years he decides to become a carer and trains to help disabled people in particular in his late twenties.
A-Su (30) has become a chemical engineer and married a man working as a lawyer (who happens to be LXC), while A-Yao (31) ends up moving in with his best friend (NMJ). A-Qin (29) doesn’t find romance interesting enough to give up on her career as a social worker, so she doesn’t really move out of Meng Shi’s old flat and everyone is fine with that. A-Yu (27) has graduated from uni and travels the world as an interpreter. Meng Shi and SiSi have lived together since the first has adopted all the kids and they opened a B&B near the seaside. they are wives and very in love.
XY lives with A-Qing in Yunmeng until his late 20s and they fight a lot for stupid things (like when A-Qing makes fun of the boring people her brother hooks up with on the regular, or when XY tries to coerce her to do the fucking laundry by tickling her into a pulp of pain and tears), but otherwise they work well together.
A-Qing is working at the community center as a social worker to help the kids find purpose in life and use the internet safely. she still believes a creep had tried to mess with her brother and doesn’t want anything to happen to the kids under her care. XY knows this, but never got around to tell her the truth, believing it would have been pointless to reveal her how everything she knew had been a lie. even her own purpose on top of that.
A-Su’s husband (LXC) rarely got to speak with XY in person, the latter busy with his job as a nurse most of the time, but during a dinner party LXC has to suddenly leave because of an emergency: his brother-in-law had been brought to the hospital after a car crash and lost the use for both of his legs.
one year later, XY (29) coincidentally becomes WWX’s personal carer and decides to move closer to the man’s house in Yiling since it would be troublesome to help him as efficiently otherwise. XY does not recognize WWX (34) from his voice or name (he did play games with him in the past, sure, but he knew him as XXC’s nephew by the name of Wei WuXian, not Wei Ying, which is the name LWJ uses around him) and helps him around the house and out of it.
WWX’s husband (LWJ) is frequently out of the house to work as a lawyer like his older brother and entrusts WWX to XY, even if begrudgingly so.
WWX pretends to be fine, but he has a tendency to try to sneak out and walk on crutches without anyone noticing, so LWJ has asked for a carer to come to their house every day. XY doesn’t have to bite his tongue as much around WWX, their interactions easy enough for the both of them to work together despite bickering about the stupidest things.
XY discovers WWX is friends with Wen Qing (37) (the same intern who helped the psychologist take care of XY and A-Qing while they sorted their shit out in the past).
he meets her and learns from her how WWX’s family had moved in Yiling to help him recover after the crash. her brother Wen Ning is the physiotherapist helping WWX regain control of his legs, but there are basically no chances for him to go back to be a professional athlete even if he were to walk once more.
this new information spurs XY to force WWX to rest more and take his situation more seriously. they work together to find possible solutions and WWX decides that he would much rather have his legs cut off from the knee down that suffer through the pain of having multiple fractures splitting him apart day after day. the surgeons had done their best to save his legs, but the fractures had compromised his nerves maybe forever and the pain is now unbearable.
LWJ trusts his husband but he’s weary at the idea of having him evaluated for amputation. XY refuses to feel responsible for the tension in the house, since this is clearly what WWX wants. XY knows WWX is secretly considering running again on prosthetic legs in the future, but he doesn’t want to anger LWJ more by mentioning it. it’s too soon to know anyway, and who is he to tamper down what little hope WWX has managed to harbor for himself after an entire year drowning in grief?
one year later WWX (35) gets permission from his physician to get prosthetic legs fitted for his needs and he couldn’t be happier. his family visit him more frequently now to congratulate him, even his grandmother who has descended from the mountain where she retired to in order to celebrate him.
XY (30) has already met WWX’s parents and his oldest uncle, but he never suspected them to be related to XXC, because he had never knew them by name.
yet, one day Song Lan (38) comes in with a huge backpack on his shoulders and recognizes XY immediately. XY doesn’t know why his old counselor is there: he knew WWX’s other uncle was coming over, but he never imagined it was SL they were talking about.
SL is beaming at him, signing he met XY’s bother A-Yu during one of his travels as a tour guide and that they kept in touch. SL has come to know XY is the reason behind WWX’s recovery and he tells the younger man that everyone in their family is happy XY has appeared in their life.
XY doesn’t have time to answer, overwhelmed with this sense of belonging, this sense of being finally, finally accepted somewhere outside of his own family... that someone else enters the house with a backpack on his shoulders.
XY doesn’t know the man and SL enthusiastically guides him over to meet the newcomer. XY is surprised to hear SL speak out instead of using sign language as the older man asks “A-Chen” to come meet “his nephew’s savior”. based on the pronouns SL has just used, XY recognizes the newcomer to be WWX’s actual uncle and he smiles at the beautiful man in front of him...
...only to be filled with horror the minute the other speaks.
XXC (32) greets XY without knowing who he really is, smiling at him without even recognizing the younger man’s voice. the two of them had never seen each other, playing games only through chats and calls... but XY recognizes XXC immediately, aware that his own voice has changed drastically over the years.
XY is still transfixed and petrified when XXC asks him if it would be okay for him to touch his face to have a better idea of who he’s interacting with. XY doesn’t even register himself voicing his consent when he feels XXC’s hands on his face. only then he understands the infamous surgery had failed and that XXC did not regain his sight after his nephew’s wedding.
overwhelmed with grief, guilt and longing for what never was and never could be, XY is unaware of the tears rolling down his cheeks as XXC gently trails his features. XXC apologizes when he feels his palms dampening and he asks XY if he overstepped. next to them SL is distressed, not understanding what’s happening in front of him.
XY shakes his head and simply says... that he lost someone and that XXC reminded him of that person. then he excuses himself looking for WWX, to ask him to give him something... anything to do. he gets himself a task to accomplish and leaves the house brimming with relatives that he will never be able to call his own.
1 year later:
XXC and SL do not leave the city as they originally planned. they have travelled long enough for the time being and they decide to get a house close to WWX and his husband. they spend the following year after their return looking for stability and peace.
XY (31) didn’t stop working for WWX (36) and doesn’t plan to. not now that he got his new legs finally fitted. the recovery takes long, but it’s already been two years since the amputation now and WWX tries his best every day. he believes to be a handful and doesn’t dare ask for things he needs after receiving the prosthetics. XY is there to loudly remind him to stop being an idiot and that he is paying XY to boss him around however the fuck he wants. LWJ is very grateful to hear WWX laugh more and more these days thanks to XY.
XXC (33), however, is frequently around his nephew’s house, keeping him company. before his three-or-so years of traveling with his boyfriend SL, XXC has briefly worked as a psychologist with Wen Qing, of all people and the two of them have applied for a position at the community center in Yunmeng at the same time. there isn’t one available in Yiling and the commute shouldn’t be too bad. during that first year after his return, XXC has met A-Qing multiple times to inquire for a place at the center in Yunmeng and they are quickly becoming more involved with each other because of their shared passion for the job.
XY feels the end nearing, time ticking away. it had been an agonizing, brilliant, terrible year the one he had spent so close to XXC... and it is now coming to an end. knowing that A-Qing will eventually tell XXC how and why she became a social worker, spilling everything about how “her pitiful bastard of a brother had been molested by a pervert online” and so on. he only hopes A-Qing will never get to meet WWX... she would absolutely recognize the other man’s voice and accuse him of being the pervert in question and XY... XY will die.
XY feels trapped and he will most certainly have a stroke the moment XXC will realize that he lied to him, that he is still alive, that his reason to become a psychologist to help troubled kids was not a real thing... XY will die and Meng Shi will cry.
only because he lied about being 17 when he was 15 one day of 16 years ago.
XY disappears the same night XXC tells him he invited A-Qing over. SL (39) is overjoyed at the idea of meeting the girl once more after the time she and her step-siblings used to go to sign language classes at the community center in Yunmeng. WWX is interested as well, having heard all about A-Qing from XY along the years.
but XY disappears anyway.
2 years later:
it’s XuanYu (30) who finds him, but doesn’t ask him to go back home. A-Yu takes XY (33) with him in his travels for some months to hide him. he doesn’t ask him what he did in those two years, but he does force him to call Meng Shi and SiSi at least.
XY complies but still feels empty inside. the single year he had spent with XXC while the other visited WWX will be permanently engraved in his memories and he cannot stop thinking about it. about how gentle XXC had always been with him, how sad he had looked and sounded reminiscing an “old online friend who had died many years back”, how generous he had always been towards him and everyone and... and XY cannot do this anymore.
A-Yu may be younger than him, but he protects him well for those months... waiting for XY to tell him the truth. so one winters night finally XY does, starting from the beginning.
the following week, close to New Years, XY realizes A-Yu had betrayed him.
someone rings the bell of their shared apartment and A-Yu asks him to go open the door. XY does and it’s A-Qing (32) and WWX (38) who greet him with tears in their eyes. A-Qing tackles him on the ground and tries to hit him they way they used to do as kids, fists getting the point across faster than any word ever could, but WWX pries them apart and hugs them instead.
somehow, XY had not been notified of having acquired a new sibling, but WWX clearly considers him a brother of sorts and he had missed him greatly. A-Qing explains that A-Yu had sent her an email with XY’s version of the truth, sure... but she also tells him that she and WWX had solved the mystery soon after XY’s disappearance already, after talking extensively on the matter.
A-Qing had recognized WWX as the person she had talked to in chat all those years ago, that is true, but she also realized WWX was not, in fact, a bad person and that something didn’t add. when she understood who XY’s online friend actually was... she had felt sick to her stomach for having let someone as kind as XXC presume XY had killed himself bc of him.
hurt and confused, XXC’s family and even A-Qing’s one had initially blamed XY for the pain he had caused, the lot of them filled with anger and grief. especially BaoShan, who had felt guilty for not supervising and protecting her younger son better when he was still too naive to understand the ways of the world.
but then, seeing XY was not coming back, Meng Shi and SiSi insisted for XXC’s family to help them with the search instead. after two years the lot of them missed him. yes, even those who still berated him for his poor choices in life.
XXC now knows the truth and only wants XY to come back home.
some days later:
XXC opens the door after hearing the bell and he knows, he knows who the person in front of him is. he already had his suspicions back when he used to visit WWX every day two years back. WWX’s carer reminded him so much of his friend that... that he may have hoped.
but now XY is back and he has a name and a face and is alive and XXC greets him with a smile as the other hugs him and never lets go.
XY has never been happier in his entire, miserable life.
and XXC will never lose sight of him ever again.
the end.
[now imma go weep for fucking ages. also fuck typos.]

ooooh could we get 2 or 5 maybe for sangyu pretty pls?
Thank you so much for the prompt, Anon. I think I picked out the right prompt list for this, if not get back in touch and I’ll try again. Either way I hope you enjoy :)
I was a little worried about this; because we don’t get any MXY in canon I’m never really sure how to characterise him. I have put him in the Dreams AU but he has a very specific purpose there which dictates his character. For this AU I’ve decided to go with a more scholarly MXY - logic being he did work out how to use WWX’s demonic sacrificing curse from his papers, this also meant the no 5 prompt worked well with his personality.
In this verse canon events didn’t happen as you’ll see from most people being alive. JGS died early and JZX took his place as Sect Leader and was much better to his half brother, probably with JYL’s influence. MXY (now JXY) is very happy with his life at Koi tower, but of course there’s just that one thing missing...
He woke up to the beam of sunlight shining in through the library window and onto his face.
Jin Xuanyu blinked several times and rubbed at his face; then glanced down at his ink stained hands. He hoped he hadn’t fallen asleep on wet ink too; it would take so long to scrub off and he really needed to look his best today.
Wait. Today. It was today.
He had to go and get cleaned up quickly, what if he arrived and he still looked like he’d fallen asleep at his desk in the library? Despite the fact that was what had actually happened.
He rushed towards the door, but halfway he remembered something and had to return to pick up the paper he had been working on last night.
He folded in carefully and tucked it safely into his robes then ran to his rooms. He encountered his sister-in-law and Sect Leader’s wife Jiang Yanli on the way, with his nephew Jin Ling. He skidded to a halt and offered her his respects.
She chatted briefly but she could also see he was in a great rush and as she was ever considerate she didn’t keep him long; Jin Ling offered the barest respects required, purely because his mother was there.
His nephew held him in low regard due to the fact he pursued a mainly scholarly path of cultivation; never having a strong aptitude for a more martial route, which Jin Ling did respect. He was boring in his nephew’s eyes; something he could live with. Probably it wasn’t helped that he was an awkward age; neither the same age as Jin Ling’s parents, therefore due more respect, nor the same age as Jin Ling and his peers, therefore a potential playmate.
He excused himself once they’d finished and rushed on.
Once back in his own house he arranged to have a bath drawn and paid careful attention to scrubbing. He had smeared ink on his cheek while he slept which took some cleaning up, the same went for that covering his fingers. The ink in his nail beds was just something he’d have to live with; it was all the result of scholarly pursuits, like a sword wielder would develop callouses on their hands.
Once clean, unusually for him, he paid careful attention to his appearance. He could normally be found haunting the library and music rooms of Koi Tower in his unremarkable black robes, hair caught up in a careless ponytail. Today he chose golden robes embroidered with ivory coloured peonies to match his clan’s colours and emblems.
He had a servant help him braid some golden beads through his hair too; the braids a bow to the styles the Nie clan were frequently seen to wear in their hair.
He checked the final effect and barely recognised himself. He’d never been strikingly handsome like his brother; he had many of his mother’s features which softened what he had inherited from his Jin blood into a more gentle attractiveness. Secretly he was glad that he didn’t look much like his “father”.
While people assumed he should be thankful to Jin Guangshan, because he’d done the bare minimum as a father figure and brought a young Mo Xuanyu to Koi Tower to study cultivation before he died, Jin Xuanyu was much more thankful to his brother Jin Zixuan and his brother’s wife Jiang Yanli, who had done much more to make him welcome, find the correct path to cultivation for a young man who had shown no talent for marital pursuits and utilized his natural intelligence and tendency to studiousness to both progress and contribute to his clan as one of Jin Zixuan’s advisors.
He dismissed the unusually elegant looking figure in the glass and made his way to Jin Zixuan’s side so they could prepare to welcome the arrival of the other clans to the discussion conference Koi Tower was hosting.
It was a tiring day, especially for someone who was more comfortable surrounded by book and scrolls, musical instruments and painting materials than actual people.
He was pleased to see Jiang Yanli’s adopted brother Wei Wuxian here with his husband Lan Wangji; Wei Wuxian had always had a lot of time for Jin Xuanyu, they had often talked and philosophised together long into the night in the past. They both had a skill for the dizi too and he hoped he might find time to convince Wei Wuxian to share more of his expertise.
But there was really only one person he was desperate to see today. And then the Nies arrived and he suddenly found it difficult to breathe.
Nie Huaisang was with his brother, Sect Leader Nie Mingjue, and really Jin Xuanyu hadn’t considered what he’d do if the former had decided not to attend; that thought had never occurred to him, but he was extremely thankful it hadn’t turned out like that, otherwise all the effort he’d spent convincing himself and working himself up to making his confession would have been wasted.
Nie Huaisang had also been one of the few people to spend time and talk with Jin Xuanyu over the years, and while he would always be thankful to the others, it was Nie Huaisang he had given his heart to. Not that the other man was aware. Yet.
Nie Huaisang stood at his brother’s shoulder, his delicately painted fan open and fluttering rhythmically. As ever he was sumptuously dressed with his hair caught up in an intricate design full of braids, his delicate features only just avoiding being set into a look of pure boredom.
The Jins moved forward to greet the Nies and Jin Xuanyu had to work hard to not drift off and just spend the time staring at Nie Huaisang instead of assisting his brother in his duties as host.
***
It was after the feast that evening had ended and before Jin Xuanyu had intended to find Nie Huaisang when he came across him talking with Wei Wuxian. He was loathe to insert himself into the conversation but Nie Huaisang noticed him walking past and waved him over.
“A-Yu will know if there’s any shenanigans to be gotten into while the dull people attend the discussion conference tomorrow” Wei Wuxian patted him on the shoulder. They had both called him A-Yu from being a young boy when he had first been brought to Koi Tower, and, except in formal situations, neither of them had ever stopped.
“Well, there is a festival in a nearby town. I hear they’re showcasing several brewers from the countryside as well as local taverns wares. You may enjoy that” he said and Wei Wuxian’s eyes did indeed flash in interest, “Or the fishing is particularly good this time of year in the local rivers”
“Well I think a little visit to the festival might be just what we need to distract us from the tedium”
“Wei-xiong, I think you might be right” there was a happy grin on Nie Huaisang’s face, “A-Yu, you’ll come with us too?”
Whilst Wei Wuxian referring to him as A-Yu was a slight annoyance, it was a blow to hear it from the object of his feelings. Was it just habit or did the other really still see him as a child? He was twenty-five now; he hadn’t been a child for a long time.
“Zixuan-ge may have need of me, I wouldn’t dare put him to such inconvenience” although he really would like to attend the festival with these two troublemakers he was aware of his responsibilities.
“Rubbish, the Peacock can do without you for a day, I’ll go agree it with him now. I need to find my husband anyway, lets meet tomorrow just before midday. You’re coming too, don’t forget, A-Yu” and Wei Wuxian left with a wave.
Jin Xuanyu could feel his breath stick in his chest again; he had been handed the perfect opportunity now he had been left alone with Nie Huaisang, dared he actually take it?
“It would be nice to have someone care for you like Wei-xiong and Lan er-gongzi do” there was soft trace of longing in Nie Huaisang’s voice, and being handed an opening like that how could he justify not making his confession?
“Nie Huaisang, I can give you a list of how you make me feel...” he reached into his robes and pulled out the folded paper he had worked on yesterday, holding it out.
Nie Huaisang stared at him in complete confusion, then disbelief. He reached out to take the paper from Jin Xuanyu’s shaking hands, a look of amusement finally settling on his delicate face.
If Nie Huaisang laughed at him he might actually just die here and now.
“Why don’t you try using your words, instead?” Nie Huaisang told him instead and he was about to point out the words he wanted to use were on the paper the other now held in his hand, but he realised at the last moment what he meant.
“Oh. I see. I like you, Nie Huaisang, I’m in love with you”

Can I have a scenario where Judar and his wife go to see their daughter preform? Just a cute family moment
Of course! I live for family fluffy pfft
“Why did you dress her in so much pink?” Judar spoke quietly to his lover standing next to him, leaning towards her a bit. His lover looked up at him, giving him a stern look, not pleased by the expression of disapproval on his face. “You were too busy off doing political stuff to give your opinion. Besides, I didn’t pick it, that’s what she wanted to wear.” With a roll of his eyes, Judar turned his focus back to the stage his daughter was standing on. She was currently in the middle of a musical performance, playing on some sort of wind instrument.
At this moment, he couldn’t remember what that thing was even called. She held it up with both hands towards her right side, blowing into a hole from the piece that rested at her lips. It was made of jade, and he remembered that it cost a ton of money, but he couldn’t for the life of him think of the name. He leaned in towards his wife again, speaking softly. “What’s that thing called?” His wife nudged him in the side with her elbow, having easy access as she had her arm locked with his. “Hush! It’s a Dizi.” Judar grumbled nudging her back gently. “Don’t shush me, I’ll talk if I want.”
“You’re making us miss her song!” His wife bounced in her spot a bit, becoming frustrated with him. Judar gave a pit of a pout at her attitude and looked back towards the stage, noticing that his daughter had stopped while other instruments played for a moment. He watched as she glanced nervously around the crowd until her eyes locked with his as she smiled, giving a small, shy wave. Judar couldn’t help a small grin from stretching across his face, using his free hand to give her a thumbs up.
She had just reached her pre-teen age, and Judar was having a bit of trouble adjusting to her becoming so independent from them already. He still saw her as his little daddy’s girl, helping her with everything while trying to teach her how to be a badass. Though, she had started to become more girly as she grew older, and she had decided to focus herself on music instead of magic. Though this disappointed him, he knew music is what made her happy, and that is all he wanted for her.
As she began to play again, Judar felt overwhelmed with pride. Sure, she wasn’t an incredible magician like he had hoped for, but that didn’t matter. He could tell by the silence and focus of the large crowd around them that she was blowing everyone away with her skill. He felt the urge to start bragging to those standing around him, proclaiming that she was his daughter and that she was more amazing than all the other loser kids trying to perform. She left them all in the dust, and he couldn’t help but think that it was pretty cool.
Soon enough, the performance ended and the crowd clapped for all those on stage. After a quick bow, Judar watched as his daughter jumped off the stage and quickly made their way towards them. He couldn’t help but to chuckle at how boyish she was all the sudden, pushing her way through the crowd to get to them. She squealed happy as she reached them, having to jump up quite high to be able to hug Judar tightly. “You made it!” Judar hugged her back, having to take a step back to not fall from her jumping up on him. “Why, you think I’d miss that? No way!”
Judar gently put her down on her feet, patting the top of her head gently. His wife came in to hug her next, squeezing her tightly. “We’re so proud of you! You did fantastic!” The young girl giggled with excitement, bouncing in her spot a bit once her mother released her. “I’m so happy I finally got to perform! After practicing so much, it feels good to see my hard work has paid off!” Judar nodded, crossing his arms over his chest. “You did awesome, kiddo. You were the best, uh… stick thingy player of the whole night.”
His wife and daughter both looked at him with the same baffled look, speaking in unison.
“It’s a Dizi!”
“Right, right!”

With A Little Help From My Friends - Part 2
Part 1
Pairing: No pairing as such: more a Liam x Hana friendship fic. Implied pairings: Liam x Esther (my MC) and unrequited Hana x Esther.
Book: The Royal Romance Book 1
Rating: G
Summary: On the night of his coronation, Prince Liam gets timely advice from an unexpected source.
Note: Since Hana being Chinese is canon, and Maxwell mentions that the engagement tour will make a stop at the “bamboo groves of China”, I wrote Hana as being from Shanyin County, Henan Province, which is famous for its bamboo groves. Since they didn’t tell us what gift she gave Liam, I made her give him a dizi flute, which is made of bamboo.
You’re a coward, Liam of Cordonia. A goddamned coward.
It’s not the sort of thing a future king should be saying of himself on the night of his coronation, but the truth it is.
Even now, three hours after the gift-giving, he finds himself looking over his shoulder towards the door of the music room, scanning it for the ruffle of a certain hunter-green ballgown and heaving a sigh of relief when he’s proven wrong. You deserve all this and more, Liam. Much more. The steely glint in her eyes as the Countess said the words still raises the hair at the back of his neck. He shivers.
“Cold?” Hana asks him, looking concerned. They’ve been lounging at the balcony of the music room for the last twenty minutes, sipping champagne and punctuating the awkward silence with small talk. It’s a beautifully breezy night, and the wind wafting in occasionally smells like the flowers in the hedge maze.
The maze. It reminds him of the other person he’s been trying to avoid.
Esther.
A flush on her cheeks that matched the colour of her gown. Fresh flowers in her hair. That necklace. That necklace. The diamonds winked at him in the ballroom lights, hugging her throat, daring him to sink his teeth in and leave his mark there. Esther DuPont, you’re incredible in every sense of the word.
It should have been so simple, proposing to her. He’s been rehearsing this for weeks now: in front of the mirror, in the shower, over Skype in front of a simpering Leo.
But the moment he saw her…the words refused to come out. She’ll say no. He was almost grateful when Olivia asked him to dance with her. She’ll find someone better. And he ran. And he hid. In the music room. Maybe she already has. Like the coward he was. I can’t do this. I can’t do this. She’ll say no. Save me.
Hana has no idea what a Godsend she is right now.
“Are you alright?”
“I’m fine. Fine,” he sighs, then attempts to change the subject, “I forgot to tell you. Thank you for that flute. I’ve never had one quite like that one before.”
“But you did already!” she points out, “you called it ‘an excellent choice’ when I gave it to you tonight.”
“That’s before I found out it was a dizi flute you bought specially from Shanyin County. Don’t look so surprised. I did a Google Search an hour ago.”
Hana lets out a self conscious giggle. “Shanyin is home. And it has more bamboo groves than you can count. A bamboo flute wouldn’t be that hard to find, Liam.”
“Still. It’s something from your home, isn’t it? A part of your heritage. I learned something new today because you gave it to me. That makes it extremely special, Lady Hana.”
Hana ducks her head and smiles, visibly pleased. It surprises Liam: Hana possesses enough charm to attract as many people as she wanted, if she so wished, and yet…and yet the smallest, most insignificant compliments seem so monumental to her. As if she isn’t very used to being liked. “You don’t want to know what my parents originally planned to get you. But if I’d known your tastes better I would have bought you a ukulele.”
He tries to imagine playing the small instrument, and realises he’ll look even more ridiculous than he does playing the guitar. “Save it for the wedding.”
She laughs, then stops. Liam almost bites his tongue. You fool. What if she isn’t allowed to come even then? He’s heard enough stories about her parents and her life back in China to consider it a possibility. The last thing she needs on her last night in Cordonia are reminders that she will not return.
“Who were you hiding from when you came here?”
Liam frowns. “What do you mean?”
“It’s not very often that a Crown Prince tries to escape from his own ball.”
“Oh. That,” Hana is usually rather trustworthy, that much he knows from the way Esther speaks of her. He figures it won’t hurt to tell as long as he keeps it vague, “I was trying to avoid someone.”
“Was it Countess Madeleine?”
His eyes widen in horror. “Please don’t tell me I was that obvious!”
She shakes her head. “You weren’t. She was.”
Liam doesn’t know how to answer this. He doesn’t want to remember last night, or that nagging feeling of something going terribly wrong tugging at him ever since Madeleine visited his rooms. She’s being desperate, that’s all. He can count the number of times she has spoken to him on the fingers of a single hand - preferring the company of his parents or the press instead, to his relief - and now…now she acts as if she never wants to stop. There’s no way he will be marrying her, she knows that as well as anyone. That’s what it is. That’s what it must be.
A slow wind rustles the trees nearby, and Liam looks down over the path to the maze, his gaze focussed on a solitary figure walking by, skirts bunched up in her hand.
Liam lets out a breath he didn’t know he was holding.
He hasn’t forgotten the last time he’d visited this maze. The maze tag. The long, exhilarating, furious race to the centre. The way she’d slipped from his arms when he’d almost caught her, yelling “too slow!” so she wouldn’t realise how good it felt holding her. Her tiny, nervous, tentative kisses. The kisses he’d rejected. Because he was scared that the more he wanted them to be together, the more their chances of being forced apart. So, so scared.
They’ve shared many, many stolen kisses since, but that fear hasn’t left him.
Esther’s hands have left her skirt now, clasped as they are behind her back. She walks tall, regal, confident. Even without that crown, she is every bit a queen.
“Yes,” Hana whispers into the night. Only then does Liam realise he has said the words out loud.
Hana’s eyes rest on the same tiny solitary figure, transfixed, almost drinking in her presence. As if trying to emblazon that image in her memory. As if her entire universe ends at one point, and that point is this person. As if she can’t take her eyes off her.
“Oh God,” he means it to be a whisper, but it comes out like a hiss.
Hana turns her gaze back to Liam, and suddenly it’s like looking at a mirror.
“Liam, I…” her eyes are wide and frightened, a gazelle caught between two lions, “I…”
“I don’t know what to say either.” Is this how it’s been for her, this entire social season? Watching him whisk Esther away, smiling that soft, sad smile of hers everytime she said alright, I’ll give you two some time alone. “Does she…does she know?”
“Yes.”
Running behind an overexcited Maxwell just so they could sneak away. Teaching Esther everything she ever needed to know just so she could win this damned competition.
“Does she love you back?” Even asking the question hurts.
Hana turns away from him, shaking her head. He thinks she is blinking away tears.
He knows there is a chance Esther might love someone else, but he doesn’t know yet how he will handle it. He doesn’t know how he’ll face the next morning, even if he knows he’ll hide it well enough for no one to notice. And here is this woman, looking at the woman she loves, standing next to the man who destroyed her dreams, trying to pretend everything is okay.
“How do you not hate me, Hana?” his voice is a harsh whisper now.
“Why should I hate you?” Her voice comes out in soft sobs now, “You didn’t hurt me.”
“You came all the way from home to this place and you get nothing, Hana. Not the Prince you set out to win - though God knows what people see in me that makes them think I am worthy of that attention - not the woman you love, nor happiness, nor recognition.” He’s speaking fast, too fast, but now he doesn’t care. “I feel like I’m stealing everything from everyone.”
She turns to face him. “We all knew what we were doing when we came here, Liam. We knew the risks. I knew there was a chance you wouldn’t pick me, I just -”
“ - didn’t expect to fall for someone else.” he finishes her sentence, his voice hollow. “Especially another woman. Especially when you’ve been brought up your entire life to believe a man would be your destiny.”
“It scared me, Liam. I’ve never felt like this before. With anyone. No one told me. No one warned me. No one ever let me know that a woman could wreck havoc to my brains and my…my everything this way. And now that it’s happened, I don’t know if I can ever go back to being the old me again.”
“Hana,” he says, trying - and failing - to swallow the lump in his throat, “I’m sorry.”
She doesn’t bother to hide the tears in her eyes when she looks up at him now. She chooses to smile instead. “I’m not.”
“What do you mean?” His fear of rejection spreads from his chest to his whole body: he just can’t imagine how painful it is, knowing he will never stop loving Esther and carrying the weight of her “no” for the rest of his life. He fishes his pockets for a handkerchief and hands it to her. She accepts it gratefully.
“I thought telling Esther would break me,” she dabs her eyes, “But it didn’t. It made me feel lighter…eventually. Like I had this weight in my chest that lasted the entire social season and now it wasn’t there anymore. Because I didn’t run away. I didn’t keep quiet. I didn’t force her to love me but I didn’t make her live a lie either. And now? Now I don’t have to leave this place regretting all the things I didn’t say.”
He can hear owls hooting from far away in the garden, the chirping of crickets, the rustling of leaves. The silence stretches between them, larger and wider than any geographical gap could hope to be.
I don’t have to regret all the things I didn’t say.
Hana is definitely a braver person than he ever will be. And a wiser one. She says no regrets, and he knows from the conviction with which she says it that she isn’t lying.
No matter what happens, even if Esther turns him down tonight, he would have at least done the one thing that frightened him most, and survived. It’s better than waking up the next morning knowing his fears got the better of him.
Hana straightens her skirts, in an attempt to keep her hands busy, and checks her watch. “We don’t have a lot of time left, do we?”
“Only two hours.”
“Then we’d better get going, shouldn’t we?”
She doesn’t wait for him to answer: just turns to the direction of the door.
“Wait. Hana.”
She stops. She doesn’t turn, or face him.
He doesn’t blame her.
“I wanted to say this in case we never meet again.”
“Say what?” her back is half-turned to him, but he can at least see her profile illuminated by the moonlight behind them.
He takes a deep breath. Is this too condescending? Does it sound too much like he’d listened to, and believed, all the gossip surrounding her? Does it sound took much like he’s dangling a consolation prize over her, one she doesn’t want?
“I know about Lord Peter. I know the things people have been saying behind your back. I know people have blamed you for what happened. I know they’ve called you damaged goods. I’ve been wanting to tell you this since the day we met but I didn’t know if it would make everything hurt again. Or maybe I just didn’t have the courage.”
On a rare impulse, he moves forward, even while ensuring that the distance between them is safe enough that she will not consider it an invasion of her space, “It takes courage to face all that and try again. It takes guts to open yourself to love when someone leaves you like that. It definitely takes a different kind of strength to do what you did today. You, Hana Lee, are the bravest woman I have ever met, and I’m proud I know you.”
Her laugh is a gurgle breaking through her tears. “You’re making me cry entirely too much tonight, Your Highness. It’s ruining my makeup.”
They both burst out into peals of laughter, forgetting for the moment that there is a ball downstairs. When they’re done, he offers her his arm. “Come, let me lead you back.”
“With pleasure,” her voice is a grainy whisper, “You’ll be doing an engagement tour after this, won’t you?”
“Yes.”
“Will you be visiting China? Will we see you?”
He smiles. “I’m quite sure the Bamboo Groves are already part of the itinerary. Of course we'll see you!"
Her eyes crinkle in laughter, “Will you bring Esther along?”
That old frisson of fear prickles him again, but he brushes it aside now. “If she will have me.”
She opens her mouth, almost as if to say she’s sure Esther will, but closes it just as quickly.
“Shall we?” he asks her.
“Yes,” they chat as they walk to the ballroom. He spots Esther with his brother, staring at him open-mouthed as he recounts what must be another of his childhood exploits. In spite of his nervousness, Liam finds himself grinning. By the look on her face, you can tell it’s the volcano story.
Hana lets go of his arm, but pats it gently before she leaves. The kindness of that gesture…he’s not sure she will understand how much she has helped him tonight. If he and Esther ever get together, it’s because of this woman. Who so clearly deserves better than what she’s been given so far.
“I wish you luck, wŏ de péngyou*.”
“Is that Mandarin?”
“Yes,” she says, “I’ll tell you what it means. Someday.”
"Excellent. Another Google Search for me.”
Hana Lee grins, and takes her leave, leaving Liam alone to face the most frightening five minutes of his life.
There is no more time left to waste, now. He will make those five minutes count. He has to. He will make his way to the woman he loves, the one now standing in front of the one man (besides his father) that he considers family, making him feel like a king. Making everyone she meets feel like a king.
He’s never been this frightened of anything, or anyone, before. But damn his fears.
Tonight he is ready.
Hana has taught him well.
* wŏ de péngyou - Mandarin for “my friend”.

Stilton, I was the anon who said that Wangxian getting together before Nightless City would make canon events extra heartbreaking and now I know just how 💔💔💔💔 the Qiongqi Dao ambush became 😭. For a less angsty prompt, something from Wangxian's happy year at the Burial Mounds with A-Yuan
(brief note: this verse is entirely prompt-based, so please send in more prompts/reblog for more updates!)
Cloud Recesses, Gusu Lan to Yiling City
(care of Master Xie Yanling, addressed to Lan Wangji)
Didi,
To address the problem you mentioned in your last letter, I think Wei-gongzi might have better luck with a Lan-made spirit-trapping pouch to cleanse your crops of resentment. Such mild resentful energy may not respond to Cleansing, and he mentioned that larger spirits keep answering whenever he uses Chenqing, so I think your only solution may be to pick out the resentment piece by piece. However, I know nothing about resentful cultivation, so you need not feel obliged to try it if Wei-gongzi does not agree, but I have enclosed a package of spirit-trapping pouches just in case. If you have no use for them, they can always be sold, or you can save them for night-hunts in the future.
Please inform Young Master Wei that a delivery of twelve white-jade figurines will be coming with the next trader, and he will recommend a jeweler in the next town whom you can sell them to. I regret to say that we still do not have enough silver to spare, but I have nearly half of my future bridewealth left, and there is no better use for it than to aid my brother and my future brother-in-law. Write to me at once if you need anything, and give my best to Xiao-Yuan!
  All my love,
     Xichen.
Lan Wangji finishes his brother’s letter with a soft smile on his face, taking out the silk spirit-trapping pouches to show to A-Yuan before putting them back into their box. He has not been back to the Cloud Recesses in over six months, though he warned no one of his departure before he left; he came to see Wei Ying and bring him news of his sister’s engagement, and then he ended up staying the night before Wei Ying asked him to live at his side, and be with him always.
It was never a choice, in the end. Lan Wangji would have chosen Wei Ying over his own fated zhiyin, even before his soulmate died on that horrible day in Heijian, so choosing Wei Ying over his sect and his family takes only a split second.
Together, the two of them have transformed the Burial Mounds into a home. Lan Wangji is no stranger to hard labor, and Wei Ying’s stubborn resolve could outstrip Shufu’s even at its weakest, so they went to work together and wrangled the resentment-ridden forest into a line of neat potato fields, chopping down the trees for firewood and long sections of log for houses. Not long after that, the Wens were all able to go to their own warm homes every night, and dine on large bowlfuls of rice and potatoes and turnips every day.
And what the Burial Mounds could not provide, they have ample money to pay for--because Lan Wangji sold his silver hairpiece in the village, and turned out all his emergency funds so that A-Yuan could keep his little stomach full of all the rich beef and vegetable stew a baby of two could want. During his last monthly check-up, Wen Qing was so pleased with his progress that she actually praised Wei Ying for it, and Wei Ying himself is growing strong and golden-skinned in the fields, so that he can wrestle with Lan Wangji in the evenings for A-Yuan’s entertainment and push the market wagon alone instead of relying on Wen Ning.
I am happier here than I ever was in the Cloud Recesses, Lan Wangji thinks, blushing like one of Sishu’s ripe tomatoes as Wei Ying breezes by with a shovel and kisses the top of his head. You have given me the world, my heart, and you said you had nothing to give!
“Oh?” Wei Ying teases, making Lan Wangji blush even harder at the realization that he said that last aloud. “When did I say I had nothing to give, hmm? Who was it that combed your hair and cooked spicy porridge for you last night?”
“It was you, my heart,” Lan Wangji acknowledges, folding his brother’s letter back into its envelope. “And if I were not a cultivator, I would have spent the morning having runs in the latrine.”
Wei Wuxian throws his head back and laughs. “But Lan Zhan, A-Yuan ate it too! And he was fine, wasn’t he?”
“I ate his share for him.”
Wei Ying pouts at this, and continues to pout until Lan Wangji kisses him a few times to make him smile. “What did Zewu-jun say?” he wonders, trying to catch his breath when Lan Wangji pulls away for a moment. “Is he well? What about Lan-xiansheng?”
“They must both be doing well, or Xiongzhang would have told me,” Lan Wangji assures him. “But he suggested the use of spirit-pouches to make the lotus seeds safe to eat. Shall we try it tomorrow?”
“Aiyah, I can’t believe I didn’t think of it!” Wei Ying cries, striking his fist with his palm. “We can’t get the traces of resentment in the crops to listen without holding everything else back, so we’ll have to clear the plots one at a time.”
Suddenly, he frowns and glances at Lan Wangji’s belt. “I don’t know if one pouch will be enough, though,” he mutters. “How old is yours, xingan? They have a ten-year lifetime, don’t they?”
“Three years, I think. But Brother sent a box of new ones, so we should have plenty to experiment with.”
“A-Yuan wants!” their son complains, plucking at Lan Wangji’s long skirts before reaching up for Wei Ying in a silent plea to be carried. “Give pouch, please?”
“You can have a pouch when you’re older,” Wei Ying tells him. “For now, A-Yuan should listen to Xian-gege and go take a nap. It’s too hot for little radishes to be out without a hat.”
Wen Yuan sulks all the way to the Demon-slaughtering cave, and then through the lullaby that Wei Ying hums to him, but he falls asleep without a fuss just as Lan Wangji gets up and puts away his qin.
“Lan Zhan?” his beloved asks, drawing a light blanket over A-Yuan’s shoulders. “Can I ask you something?”
“Hm?”
“You wrote A-Yuan’s lullaby, didn’t you?” Wei Ying is watching him through half-lidded eyes, whirling his dizi between his fingers, and Lan Wangji freezes in shame at the implication. “It’s a love song.”
It takes all the strength in his body to nod and keep fastening Wangji back into its case as if nothing were the matter. “En.”
“It’s a love song for me.”
His voice is rougher now, he thinks.
“Yes.”
“You sang it to me in the Xuanwu’s cave,” Wei Ying murmurs. “It was mine back then, too. But Lan Zhan, your soulmate--before the war, she must have still been--”
“My zhiyin was alive then,” Lan Wangji says heavily. “And I mourn them still. But the song was named Wangxian from the moment of its birth, and I wrote it not long after you left the Cloud Recesses. My betrayal will forever be the greatest shame of my life, but I chose you even then, and I do not regret it.”
Wei Ying begins to tremble. “What would you have done if you had the chance to meet her?”
“Loved you anyway,” he whispers. “What could I have done, if not that?”
It was you from the beginning, he wants to say. Wei Ying, it’s always been you.
It was Wei Ying when he tried to force his way past Lan Wangji at the gates of the Cloud Recesses, and Wei Ying when he put a volume of longyang into a book of Lan An’s poetry, and Wei Ying even when Lan Wangji’s soulbond was singing with his zhiyin’s happiness. For no matter how wrong it might have been, and how uncouth, and how much of a betrayal, Lan Wangji has never wanted another; and if he ever met his soulmate, he would never have been able to love her as he loves his chosen beloved.
Suddenly, he realizes that Wei Ying is crying, and then he buries his face in Lan Wangji’s neck and sobs.
“I thought it was only me,” he gasps. “All this time, I’ve been in mourning--but wearing this sash feels like a lie when I’m with you, and I didn’t dare take it off, but--”
“Then take it off,” Lan Wangji urges, with his own eyes full of tears. “None here will judge you, Wei Ying, least of all me!”
And then Wei Ying kisses him for what feels like hours, until the sun is low in the sky and Wen Ning comes calling after them for dinner--and then Lan Wangji takes Wei Ying in his arms and kisses him in return, for they are wholly each other’s now, and Lan Wangji will never leave him again until the end of their days.

Chapters:  1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6
------------------
Though at first their teeth collide a few times, Lan WangJi discovers that kissing, as with anything else, is a skill one can improve with practice. He is startled a bit when Wei Ying opens his mouth to deepen the kiss, but he finds the sensation of his tongue against his own more than enjoyable.
He finds it even more enjoyable to be able to finally give attention to the mole under his lip that has taunted him all these years. Wei Ying seems to realize his focus because he laughs, joyous and breathless and beautiful.
Lan WangJi hooks his arm around Wei Ying to pull him closer, but he freezes at his pained hiss.
Of course; Wei Ying was injured by Wen Ning, and likely hurt himself last night falling to the hard cave floor in his haste to escape the dog spirit.
As much as he would prefer to continue this, Lan WangJi forces himself to stop. He can’t help but remember Wei Ying’s reminder that their union hasn’t been consummated, and that doesn’t make it easier. He has, after all, been waiting since he was fifteen.
“You are injured,” he says softly, sitting. “And malnourished.”
Wei Ying pouts, but doesn’t protest vocally or move to get up, which tells Lan WangJi he truly is in pain, and judging from the way his eyelids are drooping, absolutely in need of more sleep.
“I will meditate here, and we will have breakfast together when you wake. We should also discuss my brother’s impending visit.”
“Ah, I guess you want to tell him we’re married, then?” Wei Ying says with a sigh. “Can we at least ask him to keep quiet about it until after shijie’s wedding? She deserves better than to have her happy day overshadowed.”
Lan WangJi has not, in fact, thought yet of how he will tell his brother he married Wei Ying all those years ago and neglected to tell him. But he does agree that the news should not detract from the marriage of Jiang YanLi and Jin ZiXuan, though he disagrees with the idea that the their marriage could be a dark thing.
“Agreed, but…”
He pauses, considering how to say what comes next, how not to risk driving Wei Ying away again.
“Please consider telling my brother you no longer have a golden core, if not the circumstances,” Lan WangJi finally says.
He is relieved when Wei Ying doesn’t pull away, only grimaces, but his relief is short-lived.
“You think he’s more apt to help if he knows I’m broken,” he whispers.
Lan WangJi feels his jaw drop, horror rising as he realizes just how deeply Wei Ying’s self-loathing goes. He wishes he could assure him of his own worth, but he also knows it will take time to convince him. But this, he knows, is his fault. He did not help Wei Ying until he knew the truth, when he should have helped from the beginning, should have trusted him.
Does Wei Ying believe he pities him? The idea chafes.
“You are not broken,” he tells him, “and certainly not simply by virtue of being without a golden core.”
Wei Ying snorts derisively.
“Then what am I? A cultivator who can only cultivate on the crooked path?”
Lan WangJi gently pulls Wei Ying closer until he’s pillowed in his lap, until he can look at him directly, if upside down.
“Wei Ying is Wei Ying. You need be nothing more.”
His zhiji looks away, his eyes shining in the dim candlelight. Lan WangJi feels helpless in the face of his despondency, knows he is in part the cause.
“I haven’t even told Jiang Cheng. He’s going to be so angry.”
He understands; the secret involves his brother, and he has a duty to tell him first, regardless of how long it will be before he sees him next. Wei Ying’s public break with the Jiang clan makes that uncertain, and it is not the sort of revelation that would be appropriate in a letter. In fact, if it were known he sent a letter to Jiang Cheng at all, problems could arise.
Perhaps XiChen could send one on their behalf, though, asking Jiang Cheng to at least visit in secret.
“I will tell no one, Wei Ying. Not even xiongzhang, if you do not wish it. But… eventually you will no longer be able to hide it.”
Lan WangJi strokes Wei Ying’s cheek, hating to have to think about or reference the inevitability of his mortality. Hating that it is an inevitability.
“I ask only that you consider it, nothing more. I will honor whatever decision you make.”
Wei Ying doesn't reply, instead curls closer, shifts until his face is hidden against Lan WangJi’s side, his arms around his waist, his body further in his lap.
“You are not broken,” he repeats, running his hand through Wei Ying’s hair. “You are beautiful and honorable.”
He wishes the rest of the world could see Wei Ying as he does.
In the silence, he has little to focus on, noting the brittleness of his hair, how it seems as unhealthy as the rest of Wei Ying. But Lan WangJi has never had much opportunity to touch him this way—after XuanWu and when he fell after Wen RuoHan’s death notwithstanding.
Neither are pleasant memories, particularly the latter. The image of Wen RuoHan dangling Wei Ying by the throat over the steps of Nightless City still fills him with dread. He was certain then he was about to witness his zhiji’s death, to watch his neck snapped, to see him tossed aside like a broken doll.
Afterward, in the days he was unconscious, watching the bruises around his throat fade slowly, fearing he may never wake again as his spiritual energy did not seem to be recovering… It did not recover, but it was not, as he suspected then, due to demonic cultivation.
Lan WangJi wishes he realized sooner. He will always wish that he somehow was able to help Wei Ying more, will always feel the sting of having failed him for so long.
Wei Ying’s breathing evens slowly as he falls asleep, and Lan WangJi matches his breathing. Though he has never attempted meditation with someone in his lap, his zhiji’s presence is soothing, and he slips into the necessary trance easily.
He slips out of it just as easily a couple hours later when he hears footsteps approaching their chamber of the cave. From the sound, very short legs, the pace puttering against the stone and dirt of the cave.
Lan WangJi is unsurprised when a-Yuan enters. The child surveys them quietly for a moment.
“Xian-gege sad?” he finally asks.
Only then does Lan WangJi remember that Wei Ying is asleep in his lap, arms still twined around his waist.
“Mn,” he says with a nod.
Because despite Wei Ying’s happiness at his insistence that he indeed wanted to be married to him, his request regarding his brother upset him. And it had taken far too much convincing for his liking for Wei Ying to believe he was worthy of him.
“Hugs make me feel better when I’m sad,” the child says. “I can hug Xian-gege, too.”
Lan WangJi nods again, and a-Yuan toddles over and chooses the most expedient way to deliver a hug: flopping onto Wei Ying and then hugging him.
He resists the urge to scold the child when Wei Ying wakes with a pained grunt, and instead lifts a-Yuan off, settling him on one knee.
“Ah, a-Yuan, be careful,” Wei Ying murmurs, his voice a bit strained. “You’re getting big.”
“Xian-gege needed hugs. And gugu said you need to wake up for breakfast. And popo said you’re too skinny.”
“Popo always says that.”
Wei Ying winces when he sits up, which lets Lan WangJi know Wen Qing should examine him. He hopes he will not injure as easily once he’s in better health.
“She is not wrong, Wei Ying.”
He pulls a face in response, but can’t help but laugh when a-Yuan imitates him.
“All right, all right. Let’s go eat.”
Lan WangJi is relieved when Wei Ying doesn’t need help getting up, though he doubts very much he would ask if he did. He carries a-Yuan with them, and the boy seems content with being carried.
“I did not inquire yesterday about bathing facilities,” he comments as they make their way to the communal area.
Wei Ying laughs shortly.
“‘Bathing facilities.’ You’re so proper. We have a river, Lan Zhan. That and basins and rags. That’s about it right now.”
The river was practical, but not in the long term. Perhaps that was something to address with Wen Qing, then, whether tubs could be purchased. Before winter, when bathing in a river would be less than ideal.
“I know you’re used to better, but I’ll show you where later today,” Wei Ying says. “Honestly, I’m probably overdue for a wash myself.”
“Xian-gege stinky?”
Wei Ying drops back to tickle a-Yuan.
“Stinky, eh? You just wait, stinky radish. I’m sure your gugu will want us to give you a bath, too.”
“A-Yuan not stinky!” the boy squeals with a giggle.
Wei Ying darts in and makes a show of smelling him.
“Oh, my little radish is ripe. It’s almost time to pick him and cook him up for dinner!”
“No cook a-Yuan!” he shrieks, still giggling, as they enter the communal area.
“Oh? Should we sell the little radish at market instead?”
“Noooooo! Gugu, tell Xian-gege!”
Wen Qing scowls at Wei Ying, but it’s without heat, a sort of play-acting likely affected for a-Yuan’s amusement.
“I swear sometimes you’re a child yourself,” she mutters.
“Xianxian is three,” Wei Ying sings with a grin.
“Brat,” she says, rolling her eyes, her voice fond.
They’re a family here, Lan WangJi has come to see. The closeness of their relationships brings light to the darkness of the Burial Mounds. He is glad they have been there for his zhiji when he has not.
Wei Ying winces when he settles on one of the seats and Wen Qing’s sharp gaze catches it. She looks between them with an expression that looks far too amused, and despite the fact that her assumption is incorrect, Lan WangJi can feel his ears heat.
“Dog spirit,” he explains. “Wei Ying fell.”
Wen Qing’s expression shifts to concern. It’s clear she knows of Wei Ying’s phobia.
“The damn thing came back again?”
Lan WangJi glances at Wei Ying—he didn’t mention it had bothered him on previous occasions.
“Bad dog,” a-Yuan contributes.
“Lan Zhan eliminated it this time,” Wei Ying says, avoiding both their gazes.
Wen Qing shoots him a grateful look.
“Last time he knocked into the cave wall and almost broke his nose,” she tells him. “Hopefully all he’s got this time is a few bruises, but at least it won’t be back.”
She turns her attention back to Wei Ying.
“I’ll examine you after breakfast to be sure. Cooperate or I’ll make you.”
“Aiya, no needles, Qing-jie! No need to bully me.”
Wei Ying grabs a-Yuan from Lan WangJi’s lap to use as a shield. The boy just giggles, like this is a common occurrence. Knowing his propensity for dramatics, it probably is.
“A-Ning is giving you double portions today,” Wen Qing continues, ignoring his antics. “And I’ll trust Hanguang-Jun to make sure you’re not feeding it to a-Yuan. He’s getting plenty, too, and we have radishes ready to harvest in a few days so we’ll be fine with food for a little while at least.”
She glares at him when he looks like he might protest.
“You’re unhealthy and everyone is worried about you. Popo was encouraging me to use needles and find a way to shove it down your throat earlier. Don’t think I won’t resort to that.”
Wei Ying, thankfully, takes her seriously enough to behave throughout breakfast. He eats enough that even popo, who seats herself at their table and manages to look both sweet and intimidating throughout the meal, seems satisfied.
True to her threat, Wen Qing has popo take charge of a-Yuan and drags a lightly protesting Wei Ying back to the Demon Subduing Cave to be examined. Lan WangJi hesitates, but follows at his zhiji’s pleading look.
“Sit,” Wen Qing orders when they’ve reached the alcove “I want to make sure you didn’t break anything, at least. You have horrid luck. Where did you fall?”
“Shoulder and hip,” Wei Ying says with a resigned sigh. “But it’s really not—”
He goes silent at her glare, which Lan WangJi has to admit is formidable.
“Don’t even,” she huffs. “You always lie about your injuries. Strip.”
Wei Ying, to Lan WangJi’s surprise, actually blushes, glancing at him. Wen Qing takes notice, looking between them.
“Ah, you told him, then?”
She looks almost amused.
“Wait, you told her?”
Lan WangJi almost winces at the bit of hurt in his tone.
“That he’s besotted with you? Any fool could tell, except you,” Wen Qing snaps.
“I did not tell her,” Lan WangJi confirms.
He is a little concerned when a slightly gleeful look passed over Wei Ying’s face, replaced with one that is utterly fond.
“So I was the first one you told that you handfasted me when we were sixteen?”
Wen Qing makes a noise that sounds almost like a choke, looking at them uncertainly.
“I did not even tell xiongzhang,” he confirms. “I would tell no one without telling you first.”
Wei Ying’s expression turns to one of adoration, and Lan WangJi starts mentally reciting the Lan principles, as he is sorely tempted to revisit their morning activities.
Wen Qing is still staring at them, and Lan WangJi takes pity, explaining in brief what occurred in the Cold Spring cave, with Wei Ying contributing details. He finishes by explaining the meaning of the forehead ribbons in a wedding ceremony and the bow to Lan Yi as essentially an elopement.
“You’re married?” Wen Qing murmurs, her voice hoarse with shock. “Married.”
Her gaze turns shrewd.
“Has it been consummated?”
It’s Wei Ying’s turn to choke.
“Qing-jie!”
Lan WangJi doesn’t trust himself to answer verbally and simply shakes his head.
To his surprise, she starts pacing, hands clasped behind her back. He didn’t expect her to be someone who paces.
“And you want to be wed, correct?” she asks after a moment.
Wei Ying’s “definitely” and Lan WangJi’s “of course” are simultaneous.
“Good,” she says, her tone surprisingly emphatic, as she turns to them. “So you’ve had quite an extended engagement, and we can figure out what this idiot gave as courting gifts since you bought a-Yuan toys and provided the Burial Mounds with money. I hate to simplify what is obviously a love match to political terms, but you need to consummate before Zewu-Jun arrives, in anticipation of the question of its validity.”
Lan WangJi can feel his ears heating, and Wei Ying’s face blushes more fetchingly than before. Wen Qing looks between them, and her brief look of glee is ever more concerning than Wei Ying’s was.
“Well, since you’re both clearly virgins—”
She ignores the “hey!” from Wei Ying.
“—and I am familiar with all forms of sexual hygiene as a doctor, I’ll go ahead and explain exactly what you’ll need to do to make it a safe and enjoyable experience.”
Wei Ying’s jaw drops. Wen Qing gestures for Lan WangJi to sit, and he’s honestly grateful to as she starts talking. She brusquely yanks Wei Ying’s robes from his shoulder to check his injuries as she does, and Lan WangJi has to avert his gaze from his zhiji’s milky skin to avoid reacting to it.
He cannot deny he has thought quite a bit about what he wanted to do with Wei Ying very often almost since first meeting him. Wen Qing’s very detailed and blunt explanations make those imaginings far less fuzzy than they were before. She even includes a discussion of aftercare, advising they keep a basin of water and rags nearby for the “mess.” By the time she’s finished, Wei Ying’s very red face is buried in his hands, and Lan WangJi has to avert his gaze as she pulls his trousers away from his hip, revealing the curve of one bruised buttock.
“And I guess I’ll have to send Merlin-yi to market for the oil,” Wen Qing says as she wraps up both her lecture and her examination. “I’ll send a-Ning, too. Even if we can’t provide a proper banquet, a marriage deserves celebration. You’re family, Wei WuXian, and we’ll do our best.”
“Qing-jie,” Wei Ying whispers, sounding touched.
She offers him a smile and shoves his robes at him.
“If we could afford red silk, we’d throw a whole wedding. You don’t mind the others knowing, right? They’ll be very happy for you.”
Lan WangJi glances at Wei Ying, careful to keep his eyes on his face—he may be wearing trousers, but he might as well be naked and it’s terribly distracting. The look on his face assures him he doesn’t mind, so he nods affirmation to Wen Qing.
“It’s just some bruising, thankfully,” she assures them. “I’d put on salve, but I heard you discussing bathing at the river, so I’ll leave that for later. It’d be a waste to apply it twice.”
Wei Ying pulls his robes on, still red in the face.
“Right, a bath.”
His gaze is shy when he looks at Lan WangJi, who is trying to imagine how they’ll get through bathing together without engaging in some of the activities described by Wen Qing.
Some of that thought must have been apparent to Wei Ying, because his face flushed again.
Wen Qing snorts.
“Not so shameless after all, are you? We’ll be sure to give the river a wide berth.”
Wei Ying’s response is to hide his face in his hands again.
“We will bathe separately,” Lan WangJi states, pulling Wei Ying to his feet.
Wen Qing just laughs at them.
When they reach the river, which is a short trek from the settlement, Lan WangJi insists Wei Ying bathe first, pulling the fragrant soaps he uses for his body and hair from is qiankun pouch for him to use. He knows they are likely a luxury, and he is happy to share it with him.
He plays his guqin while his zhiji bathes, starting with “WangXian” and moving into “Cleansing,” infusing the latter with spiritual energy. He is pleased when the resentful energy in the area eases, and hopes it helps Wei Ying as well.
When Wei Ying returns, clad in fresh robes, he takes his own turn to bathe. The water is chilly, but not inordinately so in the summer heat. He is pleased when the notes of a dizi fill the air, playing “WangXian” as well. Though he composed the song with the guqin in mind, the rendition Wei Ying plays on ChenQing is lovely. Lan WangJi is glad it has brought him comfort.
The notes shift into what he recognizes as “Plum-Blossom in Three Movements,” a song he rather likes but didn’t know Wei Ying knew. Lan WangJi has heard xiongzhang play it on the xiao and can play it on the guqin, though it was originally composed for the dizi. But he shouldn’t be surprised; Wei Ying is a master of the six arts and has displayed such with references to literature and poetry even in his playful moments.
The plum blossom is an apt symbol for the resilience of life on the Burial Mounds and for Wei Ying, who always endured despite the hardships he faced. Perhaps the song is an expression of Wei Ying’s hope, his faith in Lan WangJi. He wants to give his zhiji hope, longs to ease his hardships.
When he has finished and dressed in fresh robes, he rejoins Wei Ying and asks if he may comb his hair.
He uses his own sandalwood scented oil, giving it the proper treatment.
Wei Ying is swaying slightly when he finishes, the pampering lulling him nearly to sleep. Lan WangJi longs to style his hair, to put it in the GusuLan style as though Wei Ying was marrying into his clan. But he is not, and so he refrains.
Instead he brushes the hair from the nape of his neck, leaning forward to brush his lips against the soft hair there.
Wei Ying shivers and turns to him, pulling him in for a proper kiss before taking the comb and hair oil from him to return the favor.
Lan WangJi didn’t expect the sensuality of his husband brushing his hair—husband. They’re married. Wei Ying’s deft fingers make short work of his tangles, gently spread oil to treat his hair, grazing his scalp in blossoms of sensation, love in every touch.
Wei Ying braids his hair, his fingers weaving the locks with care, and Lan WangJi lets him. He is not in Cloud Recesses, not required to wear his hair in GusuLan style. When it is finished he turns to see a flourish of red, Wei Ying having used his own ribbon to tie off the braid.
And so it is natural to braid his hair in return, to weave the sacred ribbon that usually rests on his forehead in his hair, leaving the cloud symbol at the top, adorning the top of the braid like a jewel.
“Your forehead ribbon?” Wei Ying asks, startled, when he catches sight of the very pale blue ribbon tying his hair off.
Lan WangJi cups his cheek in his hand, moving forward until their noses are almost touching.
“Airen, you may touch it.”
A soft smile blossoms on Wei Ying’s face, and he rests his forehead against Lan WangJi’s.
“Airen. I like that,” he breathes.
They stay like that for a while, basking in each other’s presence.

So here is the old fanfic like I said. This is a Momma CQ fanfic i did like almost 2-3 years ago (i wasn't even in tumblr at this time, i think). I just made a few changes with some stuff, also sorry it's kinda of long.
WARNING: Long, occasional curse words(mostly from me), death, this is really old so it’s not the current Momma CQ world. Credits: Momma CQ by @alainaprana Characters by @loverofpiggies & @comyet Inspiration(idea came from): comic with Kid!Geno and Geno by @slylock-syl
And before we begin I wanna give a comment; “I still feel like this was really stupid cause damn so *SPOILER WALL* and if you don’t want to read about any fucked up shit and a little kid dying I advice you not to read this” (also sorry for any mistakes, english is not my first language, and i highly reccomend you check out the comic in the link above) -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyway let's begin:          Geno(the older one, I'll call him Sans cause it's easier): "Don't worry you'll be better then okay. *sigh* but I guess now is better than that day uhn?" Geno (kid one I'll just call him Geno.) looked questionably. Sans asks after a little pause "oh right what day is it for you today?" Geno answers "it's the 15 of February, 2019." (yo just so you know this is a random date so don't think too much about it) "Oh", exclaimed Sans "I see, [*whisper* no wonder] well you'll get well soon don't worry". He pats Geno in the head and walks to the door but turns one more time to Geno and says "Oh and remember stay happy and rad, after all you wouldn't wanna be unradical would you. Good luck, take care of our little bros don't belittle your life, and maybe you'll be able to do what i failed to" you could hear a little hint of sadness in the last part. Geno might not have understood this now but he would in not so long.          It had been 5 months since Sans appeared in front of Geno now. It was his lucky day. The 5 months had passed like wind it was all normal the same as always painkillers, exames, error beating the living hell out of fresh (he needs to chill) and sometimes Geno would come home. But today it was different he wasn`t just coming home he was officially out of the hospital, now fully recovered. CQ was on her way to pick him up together with a very excited Error and Fresh like always, but even though he was like always he was still `happy` that his more radical bro would come back. After a little while CQ was already in the hospital to pick up her son, together with error and fresh. They entered the room Geno was assigned and there was Geno as happy as possible standing there waiting for them. CQ was in tears of happiness as she hugged her son then Geno said out of the embrace "mom your squishing me" "oh sorry", said CQ back, "I'm just happy your back with us." CQ moved a little farther away from the hug and Error come next “Geno”, he said happily. He didn`t like physical contact much but he tackled his bro in a pretty strong hug like his phobia never existed. "hey Error", Geno says with a smile. "Sorry, well welcome back.", Error said after realizing what he was doing. "I’m back", responded Geno with a huge smile.          On the way to the car for Geno`s surprise Aunt Com and Ink were in the car. "guys", said Geno in surprise. "Hey Geno you're back", said Ink excited and loud. "yeah ", Geno responded. "good, and try to be a little quieter he just got out of the hospital Ink", said Com. "I'm sorry", said Ink. "no, no it's okay i got out of the hospital but I'm at full potential now", said Geno. You could hear a few sighs and then Com said, " well then come on in already". They then passed 10 minutes discussing who would seat where. In the end Error and Ink were in the front seat sharing the seat(no police, nah not in my fanfic), CQ driving, and Fresh in the window seat in the back, Geno in the middle, and Com in the other side. Of course Error was against having Fresh sitting next to the now recovered Geno instead of him but he lost the fight. While the others had their eyes in the road, a talk started between Fresh and Geno. No one really paid attention to them at all, they were just looking at the road happily. But then Geno started "so Fresh anything new home", Fresh looked at his brother and said "nuh not much same as always broski." "really so nothing new happened", Geno reinforced. "You know the usual, breakfast, daycare, such, and error like always", said Fresh. He then scratched his skull and said "one unhinged dude I tell yah"(you could hear a sneeze from Error in the front seat) "what did Error do?", exclaimed Geno with a hint of anger in his voice. "nothing much just the same as always", answered Fresh. Geno knew something more had happened he knew the 'usual' wasn't pleasant and now he was angry at Error and this wasn't the end.          They all got home and Geno entered saying "it feels so long." "Yeah I know, come on son", said CQ. "ok", responded Geno. He was now home after so long. He was grateful to Sans his visit had given him back his hopes as he was recovering. It was great he was now back home. The family and friends had I little bound time and such then ink and Com went home. They were back in their good old lifes for now. Then Geno saw something as fresh went upstairs, and like always error was mad that he wouldn't make more off of Geno getting home, but he had talked to Geno quite a few times that day, then back to Geno.  He had seen a injury in fresh. More precisely his colar bone as he went up taking off his hoodie. CQ went out and wouldn't be back for long so she said. "take care boys no mishapps, your in charge Geno.*sigh*yes Geno is back now I can let the boys alone together". Fresh was now upstairs and Error & Geno were downstairs. Geno then got back to error and said "so what's new?" Error then responded "Oh you know nothing much." "oh really so can you tell me anything about fresh's colar bone?", said Geno. Error then realized he must have seem it when fresh took his hoodie off, he then answered "uhn well I... he". "what did you do to our brother, Error?", said Geno, ouch now he was angry. Oh boy this was just the start. Geno continued "what did you do?" "nothing", said error, very fast ."nothing, then you can tell what happened to his colar bone please?", said Geno angered."uhm", error knew he couldn't win this, and more he had never seen geno so angry before. So he told about his fight with Fresh and about him saying Geno would be fine, like nothing ever happened. It was much like fresh knew he would make it. Then he heard the day of the fight was the some day sans had showed up in front of him. Geno let out a small gasp, then said "and why did you harm him?" Error said, "he was like nothing happened at all." "well he at least he believed i would be fine error, so why?". Error was now frozen, Geno was yelling at him. "we talked about this before", geno walked away with a sigh. After the fight they made up, but geno was still not very happy about what error did to fresh.          It was a new day. Geno`s 8th day after getting out of the hospital being fully recovered. It was morning, and as unusual as it was error woke up before fresh, geno thought this was strange but let it pass until his mom told him to call fresh she also looked surprised fresh was not awake yet most days he was even da 1th awake even before his mom sometimes. It was already late and CQ had to head out. Geno then said "okay mom" and waved her goodbye. He then went up and into fresh's room it was as colorful as always. And indeed fresh was in bed very unusual he then went up to fresh but something was wrong. As he came up to fresh he was still asleep or maybe 'trying' to. "hey fresh", Geno said shaking him. His skull was boiling. "fresh fresh", geno said and shaked him more. Fresh looked up and said in a shaky voice "mornin’ broski." "Are you ok?", asked Geno in concern. "yeah mah rad bro, just I little dizie", said fresh. Fresh got up but fell down again. "are you sure?", asked Geno trying to help him up. "no worries broski", responded fresh. "k", Geno said still very concerned then he asked "need some help?" "Maybe I little here bruh" fresh answered. Geno then helped fresh get on his feet this was very unexpected fresh had never gotten sick ever ever before. They both headed down where error was. "Finally how long did it take for you to wake up", said error.(this is the part where i think you're the one who sleeps the most in this house dude give the boy a fucking break) He saw Geno helping fresh get down then asked "hey what's wrong?" He knew it was strange for fresh to wake up late but when he saw him now he immediatily knew something was wrong. "nothing broski", said fresh with a soft voice eyes barely open. "His skull Is boiling" said Geno. "boiling", error was surprised at this he never ever ever got sick like really at all. Ink did, Geno did, CQ did, Com did, even he did, but not fresh. He became `worried`. Fresh then almost colapsed down if it wasn`t for Geno grabbing him. The two bros gasped and put fresh in the sofa. "what should we do?", asked error "i don`t know let`s call mom", said geno. The boys tried to call their mom but she would not answer work time she often turned off her private phone when in work. They were hoping today wasn't one of the days she did though but after Geno come back from the hospital she turned it off most days. They didn't know what to do at all. (why i love this drama so much XD i'm so sorry Freshy) Their bro was in the sofa looking very spaced out. They then decide to check his temperature but it was normal. So he was sick but not of a cold they thought of the possibility of the thermometere being broken since when they touched him he was still boiling but that was out when they saw where it was made (you'll just stay in the dark for this one~). Something was wrong but they did not know what and they did not like that very much. They were starting to panic but they were able to compose themselfs, fresh was still awake. "do you want some food?", said geno."Kinda..", said fresh. "here", said error giving him a bow. "thanks broski", said fresh, and whispered "so you can be rad uhn." with a smile. "what", asked error confused.Geno had heard and laughed a little. Fresh still had his shades on they change to NOT-HIN while he ate. "k",said error. Fresh`s boiling state came down and now he was.. less boiling."oh", said geno with a gasp."what broski?", asked fresh. He apparently could not feel himself boil. "Your less hot now", said geno.Fresh`s shades were now ??-?? He then fell asleep. Fresh woke up a while later and said with his usual normal happy voice "morning broskis", he then noticed he was in the couch, now looking confused. "It's not morning", said error annoyed. "you okay now fresh?" asked geno after a long sigh. "what do ya mean?", said fresh still confused. His mom was already back and learned about what had happened to fresh she then asked too "you better?". Fresh just repeated more confused "what do ya mean?" He did not remember that morning. "what I mean that you-", said error. Noticing geno stopped him, he backed down. "don't you remember?", asked geno."remember what broski?", asked fresh still confused. "oh great he doesn`t remember good" said error more annoyed. "at least he doesn`t remember you being all worried about him error", said geno. Error blushed softly. Fresh looked at both and in front again he was really confused now.          Some days passed, everything was back to normal with a healthy geno on it. There were still the fights, and geno still wondered about what had happened that day with fresh. Mostly it was all great and such. So they went to the day care that day it was da 1th day geno would actually go there. So today ink had come exactly at the same time as the 3 boys. They were now going in. They entered and error would remain close to ink as always or very far from other people, but now closer to geno."come on error", said geno. "Ye come on error", said ink. Fresh looked more free than the others just walking around. While in the daycare error was mostly or close to geno or to ink or the both. After a little geno went up to fresh. "hey fresh what you doing", asked geno."nothin’ much, i'm waitin for someone", said fresh."oh you have a new friend', said geno. "new, nah friend uh- not sure they fall in that cathegory either", exclamed fresh. Then geno saw what his brother meant, it was dat girl or supposily a girl cause he or she was genderless and did not mind being called either. (Teir name was Ri just random character i added for the sake of this story when i didn't know how to move on nothing special just a extra by me), somehow fresh had 'befriend' them or maybe the opposite they had befriended him."Hey freshy", they could hear a faint voice. " Yo Ri" replied fresh, "how yah doing." "Fine and you", asked Ri with a smirk , "hello geno, your back how nice, da more reasonable *whisper*sane brother." The 3 talked until Ri had to go their 'dad' picked them up. "bye, Ju(another extra i ended up adding) is here". After a while their mom came to pick them up. Ink and error wondered were the 2(at least geno) had gone they said they went to talk to a friend which was partly true if you would call them a friend. Them they went home.          Few more months had passed peacefully really it was great. It was neutral, less fights still had though, a few times geno would join fresh and talk to Ri it was nice. But sometimes he wouldn`t understand her very well and sometimes there was a something in them that made it strange to be by their side like they weren't a human but they weren't a monster either but in general it was good .Error was away with their mom and it was just fresh and geno in fresh`s room. That day a suprise came to geno`s door well fresh`s door to be exact.Sans was there again he didn`t know how but he was there like last time. "Oh i'm lost again", fresh and geno heard the imeadiatilly recoginized the voice. "what-",fresh was confused as he heard a voice that sounded exactly like his bro. But geno knew it was sans. "hey you again", sans said as he looked through the door.He then noticed where he was that colorful room he could recoginaze it from anywhere. He then saw fresh next to geno.He almost let a tear out of his eye but pushed it back. But he was not able to fool fresh with this. Geno explained to fresh that sans was actually geno from the future. "makes sense since he came from nowhere", said fresh. "hey, mini me", sans said with his most normal voice possible. "hey", answered geno. "Well I didn`t think I would see you- me again." "yeah, same here, life is full of suprises I guess", responded sans. Then the 3 heard another familiar voice, error. "geno where are you, we'll be late." "oh error is calling me, btw what day is today", said sans as he turned to the door. "it's september 27, 2019"(another random date), answered fresh. "one more year uhm",sans said. "what", asked geno."nothing", said sans.He then huged geno out of nowhere and whispered "remember to stay happy ok, and enjoy life". "uhm" geno was confused. Then before sans went, fresh said. "So your from the future, what's future me doing have i became a slacker, leaving you unrad like that, might as well change the future if you became like that." "Huhn, I can never scape from you can i", responded sans, with a soft sad smile "your right you would be pretty unhappy if you saw me now uhm". "uhm I'm not sure, can i feel happy there", said fresh. "well that's still a mystery", said sans winking before leaving the room. The two bros did not know the meaning of those words yet. But they opened to it. "what was that?", asked geno."you asking me broski, cause I have no idea", responded fresh. "yeah I know me neither", said geno."so where were we?", asked fresh. "here, here it is",answered geno pointing at something. They were playing a board game.          Then they heard the door opened, right when they finished the game. "it`s ma", said fresh. "yeah let`s go down she might need our help", said geno. "yeah", said fresh following behind geno. "Hey ma, need help?", asked fresh coming down the stairs. CQ was carring 1 bag, than she said "no thanks boys I got it". "ks", said fresh.Than error came running in with ink. "hello ink", said geno. "hey geno", said ink. "you can came in ink", said CQ "I'm makin dinner and goind somewhere with your mom". "my mom?",said ink a bit confused. "yeah you're staying here today" you could hear a "yay" from ink. "the futons are ready so you can sleep when ever you want just make sure to get some rest okay" , said CQ walking towards the kitchen. "kay" said ink now very happy. CQ made dinner and they all ate together. Than after a while CQ and Com went out, leaving some messages before hand " no opening doors to strangers boys", said CQ. They all just said they knew that much and she turned back another time and said "uhn but you can open the door or your friend Ri"(they're minor to the story so don't think too much about them) "uhn Ri is coming didn't hear anything "said Fresh as a answer. " their 'father' asked today, so i said yes since i know him and you know them. "Kay ma", fresh simply replied. Error was not happy with this at all he never got along with them. He then mumbled "no opening for strangers". CQ turned back one more time said "and no locking them out Error", and went to her car. "ugh", error protested revolted.          1 hour had passed since Cq and Com had gone out, the boys then heard a knock in the door. *knock knock* "who's it", asked geno. "it's suppose to be who's there you did it wrong", it was Ri no doubt. Fresh then opened the door and there they were. "hi", said Ri. The boys said "hello", back except error. Well they weren't really waiting him to either. Ri had nothing with her but 6 packets in her hand. "this is for you geno, this is for you fresh, this one for ink, this for Cq, this id for Com, and this is for..." they paused while handing the others their packets and looking at error looked at teh other 3 and then gave it to error. The boys opened the packets and there were sweets inside, each was carefully picked and dedicated to the given person even error's. "Ju insisted i bring this with me", said Ri. "now we won't get hungry and we have desert", said geno. "true", said Ri agreeing. But than ink said "what about YOURS" "uh no problem i can go months without eating or drinking anything", said Ri. "but that's bad for your health", said ink. Ri just stared at him and walked away. Ink couldn't say anything but from that stare he knew they woud be okay. "So why he get you to come here he normally leaves you home alone right", said fresh. "that's true, actually i'm not entirelly sure why",said RI" he just decided this today out of the blue". "i wonder why", said geno thinking. "uh yeah, so what are you guys up to", they agreed and asked. "nothing much just watching movies, drawing, and stuff", said ink.(it was only him drawing though) "is that do what movie and let me see your drawing", said Ri. They put away their packets with sweets and for the rest of the day they talked and watched movies, sometimes ink would even ask Ri about his drawing and error would stay as away from Ri as possible.          When CQ and Com got home. The four boys were asleep, and so was Ri or that was what it looked like well they were laid in bed at least. CQ and Com smiled at the kids and went upstairs to sleep Com would sleep in the house too today. After a while, that the two went to sleep you could see a fading light coming from Ri they were floating and were no close to sleeping but they looked fine to the point you woud think "how? why are they not tired? this is obviously unatural" but they were fine and the light from their magic what very small so it wouldn't wake anyone up it looked like it would literelly fade as it grew it grew a little and faded in a contiuous loop. In the morning geno was the 1th one to notice a note in the counter it was from Ri. He read it out load and it said "bye my ride is here you're all asleep so i decided not to wake you up and instead wrote this note, no worries i'll see you all very soon. P.S don't forget your sweets" The others were awake. "great she's finally gone", said error(he used she because of their aparence) "error", said geno a bit angry with the others atitude. Error only looked away. "sweets?", said CQ. "Yeah ma Ri said their 'dad' insisted they bring it", said fresh brushing his teeth. "oh really how nice", said Cq. "they brought one for you too mom", said ink. "they did?" said CoM. "yeah look she got one different for based on the person she's giving", said geno. "wow fancy", said Cq. "ha i bet her dad chose it", said error still looking away. "oh her dad might be a good person but he's not a good chooser and this is great", said CoM taking another piece out of the candy.          It was just a day like any other. It was a great day actually. Every thing was good until that happened.. it was the end of the end of the day it was a peaceful night, but error was sleep. The other two boys and Cq were watching a movie it was at the end when it finished fresh was going upstairs. Than suddently error suddently started to glitch really badly apparently he was having a nightmare. He glitched so badly it was starting to make noises, fresh was the 1th to hear them and he could hear it more than it was. Cq and geno were trying to calm error down while fresh would cover his 'ears'. (or the part of the skull a ear would be located) Having error finally calmed down but just before that frsh fell down the stairs and there was a huge thud. Error opened his eyes they were still glitching and he was now crying but he heard fresh fall down the stairs and asked what happened. Geno ran to fresh but all fresh said was "i'm okay just fell from the noise". "noise?", sure geno had heard the glitches but they weren't enough to make a person lose their balance enough to fall down a set of stairs. For some reason error seemed to cry more when he heard fresh's voice, he could kinda see now it was it was enough to know were all the people in the room were located ao he pressed in his mom so fresh and geno hopefully wouldn't be able to see his tears. "you okay bro", asked fresh as he stood up again. All error could do is grumble a "i'm fine". But then geno came closer and asked "did you have a nightmare, what's wrong, you looked like you had a terrble nightmare", said geno. "it's nothing really", said error still a bit in shock. " you sure soon you looked pretty shaken up", said Cq. "nothing", said error again pressing stronger to his mom's chest. "okay if you don't what to talk about it maybe you be better talking about it tomorrow, just tell us when your ready okay", said Cq and she kissed his skull. "k, mom", said error. Dat was the last thing they heard that night.          It was the morning after error had his nightmare. Like most days he was the last to wake up, the rest were eating breakfast as it had passes about 10 minutes since fresh annoyinly woke him up. As he woke up he joined teh rest in the table to eat. Then Cq started "so...". Error imediatilly knew what was coming next so he also began. "that nightmare- in that nightmare..". he glitched a little. "error it's okay if you don't want to talk about it", said geno. Then fresh came in "yeah bro". Error shaked a little at his voice than said "no it's okay I'll tell you guys about my nightmare-" Error said stopping a little again " in my nightmare uh- f-free-sh.. he uhn... he died". They were all shocked with the last word error said did he really mean died of dying of die of death. They were all frozen maybe even error a little at having said that word, but somehow fresh looked at least calmer than the rest by a million times. "uh- i died, how..", fresh asked. "uhn- well" error started "i'm not sure what i saw was you in the ground geno grabing you while you turned to dust mom crying and yelling at someone i was just frozen there doing-nothing and you wipped a tear off of geno's face as i came closer than you said uh-" error cried a little "i forgot but it felt like something important". The rest gasped at his explanation of the scene and frsh was like "wha-". Geno remembered what sans had said to him both of the times he came.          Some days after the dream(nightmare) it had been mostly forgotten. But it ocassionally came back to geno and it would haunt him for a while. It made him worry, but for now he had ignored it so nobody would be suspicious specially fresh he was quick to catch this type of stuff. But somehow he knew for sure the nightmare error had and what sans said were no considence, he couldn't help but have a feeling that something horrible would happen sooner or later. But he was determinated to stop whatever that was as the words "maybe you'll be able to do what i failed to" stuck in his head. It had passed quite some time since sans second visit and today would be his third. Geno was alone today like the first visit, his mom and fresh had goen to the supermarket, error was at ink's , but for no apperent reason geno had decided to stay home and successfully got permison. He himself didn't know quite why he felt like staying. So that morning while he was alone in his room gues who knocked in his door. So there sans was infront if geno once again. "hey it's been a long time uhn- kid", said sans. "yeah I guess you're right", replied geno. "so what day is today", asked sans. "march 5, 2020", said geno (another random date) "Nice", said sans, "it's a great day". Then geno asked looking up at sans "you recorded in you jornal like me". "well yeah", said sans tthen he whispered "i did take a break after that though". "what are you doing today", asks geno. "uh- today i'mm with my bro", says sans. "wait 'my bro' which one, uh now i which a could see fresh and error in the future. Sans would shake a bit everytime fresh was metioned, then her finally said "im with errir today, in the town festival". "really error is there only him, usually fresh is really excited, but anyways how those error looke like now", asks geno. "same as always pretty grumpy, but i guess better than now for you probably", answers sans. "So what about fresh", asks geno. "fresh he uhn he- well he.. his the tallest as always and he is great at everything nothing changed", lied sans. He was never a good lier. "oh i always knew he would get bigger than us and smarter, i bet error is super jelous", said geno. "yeah he (would be) is", sans laughed a little hiding a tear. "but to tell you the true i can't think of a time we'd go to the town festival without fresh he's usually why error has to go", said geno. "oh yeah it took some time to convince him(it's still why he goes)", says sans "he came when i said fresh wouldn't make it ". "that sounds like error", said geno. The two talked a bit about the future/present, and how things turned out and how they were before.Than they heard error call for sans and he went away. Sometime later error, cq, n` fresh came back, but thanks to sans geno wasn`t bored even a bit.The rest of the day he passed playing games with error, and watching movies with fresh. Sans was right it was a great day. Through the day fresh`s shade seemed to change more than usual or mybe it was just that he talked with fresh more than usual. Specially one of the best days, geno would write in his journal.          Today would be another boring day, everyone was out again. Now Geno had nothing to do and he was pretty sure Sans wouldn't appear appear anytime soon. So he was alone with absolutelly nothing to do. So he dicided that since he had nothing to do he would go over his journal. Which left him thinking about the times Sans had come to him, and he knew himself all the times that sans came he had not lied to him much that he noticed at least. But last time he felt like he had missed something so he got together everything he had in sans visits, and he became more worried about fresh as according to his visits.. "it would mean- no". Months had passed and such good life was being spend. I was now September 21, 2020(random date again). Today Cq had something to do, and so did Coun. So today they had to stay in Ri's house. The boy's moms drove them there. When they got there Ri's dad received them. "please come in" the polite man said. (okay maybe not a man- but he was male so eh) He was a skeleton, Ri's monster part (they can turn into a skeleton) "thank you Silver", said Cq and Coun. "not at all there is no harm in adding 4 more kids to this house", said silver. "only you can say that silver", said Coun and she and Cq turned to the door into the car and drove off. "oh well", said Silver then he turned to the stairs and yelled "Ri come down, your friends are here". Ri came down in a second, literally. (they can teleport) "I'm here", says Ri. "Really what did i tell you about teleporting in the house", says Silver. "use onlt when needed, well it was needed cause i didn't want to walk down the stairs", answered Ri. "Where does this laziness come from", exclaims silver. " you know from where it does" says Ri looking at Silver.          "Yes sadly I do", says Silver with a sigh."i know you do", says Ri. Silver ignores the last thing Ri said and turns to the 4 boys "I'm sorry, now well my name is Silver, but you can call me Silv or Sil if you want". The boys look to Ri with a face saying `which one sounds better`. Ri mouths `Sil`. After that they began to get accustumeted to the house. And Sil says he'll show them where they would sleep that night. "this way", says Sil. "okay, mr.sil", says the boys. "you can leave you things there", sil said. And the boys just replied "okay". "Neato it's the first time i came to your house, says Fresh looking at Ri. "oh yeah now that you metion it thats true", says Ri.Then sil says "if its with me you can come when ever you want to". "Thank rad skele-tall". "Pfft", as Ri laughed you could kinda feel Sil staring at her after taking a climpse of Fresh. "Oh well he might be a good person but good thing I don't eat because his food is terrible, I mean need to eat but I can taste". "thanks for the warning, broski", says fresh. Then Ri went inside the house more. A little later they came back "where did those cookies come from",asked ink. "they look great",said geno."I was baking them before you guys come on wanna try", Ri replied. "liar, I bet someone made them for you", says Error "Who I don`t have neighboors and we all know it wasn't my dad" They sigh and " i really should continue that research".(the wingdings say 'continue that research') "dont",Sil says as fast as he could."okay okay come down no need to stress out if you boil too much you might melt "(get it uh uh), says Mercy. "oh my sh- no and stop making puns", says sil."then stop giving me a skele-ton of work", says Ri."really", sil gave up."here have a kitten before the dog gets them all", Ri implies giving the cat shaped cookie to the boys" "*internal screech*god", sil goes."There Is no god from where I came and for where i'm going",says Mercy. "DELICIOUS',ink says in a outbust of happiness very sudently surprising Ri. "let me see",says geno and grab a cookie "it`s heaven". "ok", fresh is next "rad flavor".Then error "its good". Everyone looks at error "i told ya so", says Ri. "so what you want to do boys", asks sil."i propose rad movie", says fresh."i humbly agree", says sil takin out some movies then asking "which one?". They played games and such keeping the movie for last. Then they took turns in the bathroom. And error is all like 'no I can't bath in a strangers house', then Ri is like '"'m not a stranger, get your lazy ass up" and forces him to bath. then they see the movie and sleep.Well the boys and sil. It was morning, Cq and Coun came to pick up the boys. They all said bye as sil waved and said come anytime, Ri was like 'ye, just don`t go in my room, okay'. They could fill their sins crawling in their backs as Ri said that.On the car all geno could think about was the day that had just passed, it was a peaceful and great rest of the day too then he though maybe it would stay like that forever just maybe.           It was finally a new day. Geno was bored as he heard a knock in the door, he asked "who is it?"."its me geno", he could hear from behind the door it was his friend sugar. He then got out off the couch and opened the door with a big smile"hey sugar"."Hey geno uhm you know that you recovered and me too, and I was wondering we haven't had much time to hang out yet like before so you wanna hang out sometime today, if your free that is",said sugar. "sure sugar just gonna ask my mom", responded geno. After he got permission he spend his day with his good friend sugar it was a great day too. And once again in a little a new dayday came. Today geno did not do much but wait for his brother fresh while watching movies with error, and ink.Today it was fresh who was out the day after geno had been with sugar hangin out that day, fresh and error had been alone in the house. It was a boring day for geno, so he decided to ask error, reinforcing the last two words "so how was yestarday no fighting RIGHT ERROR". "don't worry geno not yestarday since I passed here on time", exclaimed ink. "Is that so, good to know, I gotta say as a brother thank you ink`, says geno. It was a new day again, thought geno.He was now officially bored. So he went to play video game with his brothers, and error would glitchout all the times he lost, i mean he glitched a lot and fresh would just say "yo chill bruh"It was the same as always nothing new. Geno was still worried about teh connections with fresh he had made with his jornal to help it was Error's nightmare, sans visits, he suddently falling ill, or he hearing the glitching to be loud. ut it was okay for NOW. So geno told himself it was just another normal day and he had nothin to worry about at all. Well he was right just another boring day. Next day as normal as ever rather a good day until night. It was now THE night that triggered everything. That started the dissaster to come all started with just a simple word MONSTER.          Just a normal night as the boys were walking and a bear monster just came out of nowhere as geno ran to fresh since it was the say the family would go out and buys as many random gifts as they could for no apperent reason at all.(sorry didn't have anything else in mind but this works fine) Geno accidentlt triped in the large monster that appeared suddlently before him. "I'm sorry sir" Geno apologised looking at the far larger monster. "Uh look where your going brat", the monster said shoving away geno. No one seemed very happy with that. The monster was very rude doubt about it he did not seem to care. But error was definitly not happy, he was glitching in anger. ans it seemed to do the same effect in fresh as it did the time he had his nightmare it was a less sad more infuriating glitch. Error took his strings out and pinned the big monster against the wall grabing his soul. The family was shocked. "Error it's okay calm down", said geno. But what he could hear was mored glitched voices all he could say back was "no it;s not okay he thinks he can get out of here unharmed after doing that then he's wrong. This was it he was gonna kill the monster he would be a murder now then pass the rest of life in jail. End- lol just kidding Cq then tried to calm down error but it didn't see to work either. Then fresh came up to error and said "chillax bro". Error looked pissed but now he could here the things around him clearly then geno said "You dont wanna get in trouble just cause a stupid monster did what he wasn`t suppose to, do you". Geno tried again to him calm down he didn`t seem very happy about what the monster did either but he wasn`t about to let his bro go to jail just cause he thought the monsterdeserved it. Then fresh came up, to error. Error only reacted as such "hey who do you think you are", but error stopped when he saw the hint of anger in fresh's face. From his eyes there was a purple lightcoming from underneath his glasses, and it wasn't very welcoming. After the monster was put down he ran and said I'll get you for this you bastards". The was the work UN-RAD in fresh's glasses, and then when they all calmed down they saw this time they didn't get many gifts. After that they all went home. Now time to sleep. Sleep people sleep. The family had a long night so after they got home all they did was get ready to see a movie night special then go directly to sleep. The entire family went to bed, and tommorow would be a long day even longer then they thought it would. It was now officially September 27,2020. Later to be known as The Day of All Disaster. Morning.. the boys were getting ready for the Lishes big carnaval this carnaval only happened once each 5 years and it was finally back, this was fresh's favorite carnaval but also his- it was going all well until about noon, and error started nagging about having to go to the carnaval. "come'on it will be rad broski", said fresh trying to pull error. But he refused to give in "no i won't" said error inrritated, "why do we even have to come to this stupid carnaval anyways" But in the end they got him to go. And there waited a suprise for the family. Kiss good-bye to tommorow. One word MONSTER. It was the huge monster they inccontered that was almost killed by error if it wasn't for fresh. "brats", said the big monster. But he got interrupted by fresh "pf didn't your mother teach you manner bro cause yu spitting on me.(hoho YO GET DUNKED ON he deserved that) The monster definetly did not take this well, and he pinned fresh against the wall. 'You cocky brat, don't think you'll get out of here this time" "uh what's wrong mister i can't seem to hear you who was the one that left crying yesterday", said fresh he seemed pissed. He was Threating a person that fresh. The family was suprised by fresh's words.Words that might have not seem strange if they were error'sbut fresh he seemed upset and it looked like he was ready to kill anytime.
As the monster continued to pin him against the wall he scaped rather easily actually it seemed like he had done it a dozen of times before. He reacted in his own and put the big monster away from him and his family with that it was clear that fresh was stronger than the big monster. But the monster was not very happy he tried to fight fresh and attacked him.The family gasped and Cq went to call the police as fast as she could.Fresh seemed rather calm but you could see he was very unpleased with the monster`s unradness. He really wasn`t the type to tolarate people like that, he took his shades off to reveal his bland and souless eyes which were now lighten up with a purple light around them.Fresh looked like a image of a rainbow fire. Yoi really wouldn`t want to be that monster right now.The monster panicked after seeing fresh`s eyes as he looked just ready to kill him.The monster acted without thinking and accicidenly hit fresh right in his soul as Cq come back with the police. The monster noticing his mistake fell in the ground away from the family."fresh, fresh",said geno as he grabed fresh"uhm- bro",said fresh.Cq and error were stone. Then error came back to his senses and said"dont worry fresh we`ll call the ambulance", he was glitching a bit and you could almost see a real tear falling from his eye but as if it went back in. But it was too late fresh was becaming dust. "Wait no, don't go fresh", geno said now cryin, and he quickily pulled fresh`s shirt up to see there a very small yet delicate and almost invisible soul it was like it was there just to keep i'm alive, and did not feel much or do anything more then support his physical form but it was fading. It was a bright purple soul but it was now shattered into what seemed like 1 million pieces.Cq had now located the monster and started yelling at him the police had to keep her away from the man before she went to jail together with him.It was a tragedy, than Coun and ink came to check because the family was late and all the noise that was going on there.Coun trying to stop Cq from the monster, and ink error. But at this point I had say he deserves it and hard.Lik fuck you man, go die in a hole. Cq was crying and yellin at the monster, Geno was grabbing Fresh and holdin him up, and Error was frozen not being able to do anything at all, he came closer to Fresh, Fresh wiped away a tear away from Geno`s face and said "whats wrong mah bros, you why are you so sad unrad facial expresion, I even thought ypu were so rad that day Error you cant just stop now, don`t lose your smile 'kays*cough*".It was like they were watching error's nightmare only now it was for real, fresh wouldn`t be there the next morning standin in front of them, saying its 'chill bruh'.Fresh had turned to dust."i'm sorry it was my fault if I didn't bring his attention this would have never have happened", said error standing in front of the pile where now rested Fresh's dust.          It was the day of the nightmare. Fresh had died the family was broken but it was fresh who died he sure wouldn`t be pleased if he saw his family now.So they were able to move on and have good lives. But they would never forget FRESH. In geno's journal September 27,2020 was blank with only the word NIGHTMARE on it.For a few years geno had stopped to write in his journal but after the first Lishes carnival since fresh had died, the day he had died he began to write again. As the years passed he was able to put the puzzles together about sans now every thing made sense and soon he would see himself "you'll be better than ok", but he added something the others were never able to"save him save him please and remember the day September 21,2020 the best day of ur life, but save him pay attention and don't bumb in the big MONSTER".It was true everything about this was true he just hoped this little geno would remember. Later he came back to his journal and without erasing the big nightmare he wrote the details of the day, and cried as he saw his good life. His real encoragement was not sans it was fresh, it had been since day one.
