Peter who acts like he's Tony's dad. Yes, Tony's much older but also much, much more irresponsible. Like, Peter'll look away for 5 seconds and Tony will have exploded a whole town and created a nuclear reaction. He's constantly checking on Tony to make sure he's not about to kill someone with what he thought would be a good idea. Silence is Peter's worse fear because that mean Tony's definitely plotting something. He has to constantly go and feed Tony because the older man often forgets or simply refuses to eat. Tony'll throw a temper tantrum because of some tabloid in public, and Peter's the one to calm him down while being extremely embarrassed.

After Peter graduates and starts visiting the compound on the weekend via quinjet sent by Stark, they sometimes found themselves in vulnerable positions. Such as coincidentally having the living quarters to themselves when everyone else was off doing work in other parts of the world.

One night Peter is lounging on the big ass couch in the living room, watching The Goonies after a 6 hour lab sesh and Tony already had a Ben & Jerry's in his hand when he walked in so it was easy to turn around to grab a second tub. He walked up and offered it to a delighted Peter, "I've never had this flavor!"

Tony settles comfortably beside Peter, half a cushion between them. Peter peered at the ice cream flavor Tony had and said he'd never had that one either.

"Be my guest." Tony extended the tub to Peter, who set his own on his lap. "If you don't mind old man cooties." And Tony was being completely normal about this as he watched Peter go oooo, gimme and very normally scoop some ice cream with the spoon and lick it off like it was a lollipop. He was being as normal as Peter, who was savoring his tongue tasting the same spoon that had been in Tony's mouth.

"Mmmh, I like it." And he wasn't just talking about the icecream. "Have you tried mine?"

"Can't say I have." That was a lie.

"Try it!" Peter made no motion to hand him the tub as he helped himself to another spoonful of Tony's ice cream so the man took that as a cue to grab it himself from Peter's lap. And Peter felt normal, of course, about Tony's hands reaching towards that particular area of his anatomy. Totally.

A thrill surged through Peter as he watched Tony's lips close around the spoon, ice cream disappearing from the metal when it slipped out. "Oh, yeah, that's pretty yummy." Peter had to agree.

"Yeah. Better than yours, so don't even think about sequestering my ice cream." Peter took his tub from Tony's hands and returned Tony's.

They both spent the rest of the movie making comments, laughing, occasionally trading ice cream and thinking about eachothers mouths.

..... hypothetically. Could the curse in Beauty and the Beast work with platonic love? Or familial love between a father and a son or a nother and a daughter?

Take Tony and Peter. Father-son relationship, right?

What if Tony never loved anyone after his parents? Sure he appreciates his servants, but does he really love them? No. He doesn't have any friends in this AU, so no platonic love.

And then he meets Peter, a teenager who wanders off into the woods and gets trapped in this castle and Tony gets furious because it's his private area. But then he sees Peter's doe eyes and breaks a little bit. After spending some time with the kid and getting to know him, Tony just adopts Peter. He is Tony's son now. And Tony realizes he can love. It just wasn't in a way he expected. Tony thought he'd have to find romantic love and it crushed him because he's pushed away everyone he ever cared about, refusing to admit his feelings for them (because there's probably an element of being aware of your own love) and thinks no one can love him.

Then Peter comes along and finds out that Tony is a softie and fills the gap that his parents and various caretakers created over the years and starts to look up to and love Tony as a father figure. And the spell breaks. Because Tony learned how to love, and the curse never specified what kind of love it was.

Hello!

I wanted to make a little pinned post to specify that I do lurk, and if I follow you, there's a high chance it's because you post Starker or are generally not attacking people who ship Starker. Since it's my current fixation (platonic and romantic), I wanted a dash dedicated to them, and my Peter muse who is the strongest also wanted that 😂

I might not yet be super active here, but I'm open to questions, I might reblog ask games, and maybe post under the "growing an ark" tag (aka my development phase tag) if inspiration hit. But yeah, I'm actually lurking around often, here and on chrisemrysfics (which is where the rest of my chosen following/dash is), I just have a lot of my energy going offline so I'm online mostly to lurk and unwind, but I'm here~!

Of course, while my current fixation is Starker (as platonic and romantic), if you're into the other fandoms represented here, or just curious, you can also poke at me about the other muses! *that one cynthia erivo gif* the idea of starker who are best friends and fuck every now and then. nothing serious, no compromise, no afterthought. they just suck one another sometimes and it's great.

they don't really know how it started but it just did.

they were at this bar once and just began to make out. it wasn't the first time. tony looked so hot with all of his bracelets and that expensive watch. and yeah maybe peter isn't legally allowed drink because he's 19 but who cares. and the younger of them, with his wet puppy face and nerdy talks. gosh, how could any of them ever resist each other?

so they frot in some random deserted alley at (what they assume) 01:00.

or when they're next to a lake for whatever reason. there were other people with them but they decided to go to the lake, just the two of them, alone. some best friends bonding time. and of course they had to skinny dip! i mean, just do it while you're at it, right? but of course they end up fucking at the riverbank. it's almost cinematographic, too. it was twilight, still bright enough for them to stop mid intercourse and just... stare at each other. Sure the the rocks are uncomfortable and the dirt is sticking to tony's back, but it's something so surreal, what they're feeling.

And it's confusing peter. a lot. what's this? just platonic love? but that's not what people describe it being like, right? this deep connection they have.

but it can't be romantic love either. this deep connection they share, it's just that. not tilting towards anything. it isn't inclined to skipped heart beats and tinkling eyes. It's simple, it's happiness when someone mentions tony and countless plans made but none executed. it's playfully fighting and insulting each other and drunk babbles send through text. it's mocking each other and having a spicier discussion than normal, thus not talking to each other for a few hours. it's hanging out every once a week but going crazy if they say more than a consecutive week together. it's making out but no pecks or smelling necks.

but it's good. it's so good. and he isn't sad or upset that they aren't loving each other or dating. he thinks it'd ruin everything they have. and he wouldn't have this with anyone else, he wouldn't be able to trust anyone as much as he trusts tony.

it's so much. it's complex. it's unique and different and so... theirs. but peter has such a hard time recognizing this. he's 19 for fuck's sake, how will a teen figure out what is going on in their heads when even the 40 yr old can't put it together himself?

and it's hard for them to communicate but they try. they share their feelings. not under the moonlight but in the aftermath of a party one of tony friend's threw, although they somehow ended up in tony's stupidly gigantic living room.

and funnily enough, one of the smartest men USA's ever seen can't rightfully put his words together. he fumbles and stumbles, silence extended for a minute or so. tony stark's trains of thoughts are malfunctioning because of a kid who couldn't look directly into his eyes just a few years ago.

and it's endearing. peter doesn't feel the urge to jump onto tony and terrorize him with countless kisses. he kind of wants to make fun of him to break the weird atmosphere. he knows he shouldn't, and he won't okay?

they end up naked, eyes filled with tears from laughter because of some stupid science pun peter made.

and that's them.

I saw a really cute pianist au for starker and I raise you Peter as a prodigy flutist undergraduate student and tony as the university accompanist so of course they have to work well together and spend a lot of time practicing together. It starts off as platonic but slowly Tony starts to push Peter and demand more out of him musically (almost a whiplash situation except with intense flirting) and Peter can't help but just fall in love with him. Ugh fine I'll write it sometime this week lol

this is a tough question omg because there are sooo many reasons.

at first i loved both tony and peter separately, and i was excited to hear that spiderman and ironman would have a relationship in the mcu, and oh boy canon did not disappoint.

the dynamic between them is just irresistible, whether it's in a platonic or romantic or sexual way + that age gap is delicious, and i love to explore problematic ships.

so it wasn't long before i started looking them up tgt and the fandom fuelled the fire with the amazing fics and fanarts.

I'm also doomed to obsess over ships which are tragic, or in which one of them is dead, and the angst factor tnpt have is insaaane.

and at last they look really good together, like are you kidding me?!

so yeah, they tick all the boxes for me. there's so much to explore with them and it's very fun!

anyways what about you? why do you ship them?

This happens often enough that it is frustrating and I wanted to say something about it: can I just please enjoy a platonic/familial Tony&Peter fanfic without that enjoyment being broken by the author insulting or bashing on Starker shipper?

I love their dynamic in canon, I love them as mentor/mentee, I love them as father/son, and the reason I love Starker ship is first and foremost the idea that love is stronger than all the potential issues they face for a potential relationship. Because that's what it is: not inherent wrong aspects, but potential issues. And "potential" means it doesn't always become a reality. Fics that explore when it isn't necessarily healthy, or legal, aren't fundamentally different than fics exploring violent themes for example. It's about the messiness and complexity of humanity, which in itself is beautiful. And in Starker, its because I love their canon dynamic and I love the idea of their love being stronger than the potential issues, that I can enjoy darker/unhealthy depictions of the ship. And it's all fiction, which is first and foremost about telling a story. And a fictional story is entertainment specifically because we know it's fiction and no real human being were harmed to make that fiction, nor does anyone depicted is an actual real human being being harmed in the events of the fictional story.

And you know what is the irony? Not a single fic I've read for Starker makes explicit or implicit comment of the same type about people who only view them as platonic/familial. When I read fics for the platonic/familial dynamic, sometimes the author in the notes will call Starker shipper "gross", or disgusting, and sometimes there are moments in the fic itself where for the idea of them together is thrown around and the characters react "ew", which sometimes make sense in context, but other times, it honestly doesn't feel like it make sense to have this show up and have this strong feeling of being in there for a more "subtle call out". But not a single fic for Starker does the same thing.

Most Starker shipper, myself included, respect if someone just doesn't see them this way. Most Starker shipper will think carefully about the tags to put, and you know what I did see often? Starker author who feel a need to state that they don't condone the real life version of the stuff that they write. It breaks my heart everytime because it's so obviously because they know what part of the fandom say about them. They can't even enjoy and write what they like without feeling a need to try and express it's just them enjoying fiction. Non-Starker act so offended, but they're the one who put pressure onto the rest of the fandom that is either platonic/familial only but respectful, or Starker too.

And you know what? I'll come out and say it: what I fucking don't condone is harrassing other people, and butting your head into the genuine happiness of others. What I happily condone is respect, choice, consent, genuine love, and a real wish for each other well-being even when it's hard or complex or messy. If two or more people genuinely care for each other, choose each other, respect each other, wants to try, and have enough maturity for their choice and consent to not be blind? That is what matter. I wouldn't want to see a late teen with an adult, because the amount of potential issues is enormous, and most of the time, it won't work out or it isn't healthy. But to pretend there isn't a tiny amount of cases where it does work out is a disservice to any relationship that started where it was really iffy, and yet worked out for them because they truly, genuinely loved each other.

You know what else I'll come out and say it? I'm a fucking survivor of CSA, and it's so damn healing to see people who enjoy things I enjoy without feeling it's only because I'm "broken", to see that it's something natural in our psyche. I was robbed the ability to grow up blind to what sex is, I was robbed my consent, I was made to feel powerless. But I recovered from all of this, a survivor and not a victim anymore, and growing up, I was always more mature than my age, which meant I knew that it is possible for someone to feel more mature than others people their age. If I fell in love with an adult as a teen, I would have known the inherent risks. And I would have been so angry, and hurt, to be dismissed, for others to try and take away my agency again. I wouldn't have wanted, and still don't want, someone to feel, or feel again, the hurt of your agency being violated. On the other end, even as a teen, and still as an adult, I would be just as angry to see a child or a teen that is being abused or who is in a dangerous situation, where their agency is not properly respected. As a teen, and now as an adult, it pisses me off to see the way people in fandom can act for mere fiction, because all I see are people who ignore and dismiss other people agency. All I see is people harassing and violating other people. Because I know what the real life feeling is like, and I can recognize it a miles away when it happens.

No fiction has either violated me. But people? Oh yes, they do. They don't even have to come attack me directly. Everytime I see them attack someone else, or make certain comments in their author note. And I'm so damn lucky I did heal, and recover. Because even though I did, it still feels frustrating and hurtful. I cannot begin to imagine how it feels like for those like me, or similar to me, who are still healing and have to face this over fiction. Who might not even know why it hurt, or only in part.

So yeah, this has angered me enough to come out and say it: watch what you are doing and saying over mere fiction, because chances are, what you are doing is violating other people. Abuse, and violation, aren't always sexual or even physical. Emotional&mental abuse, emotional&mental violation, are just as real. And fiction cannot abuse or violate, because there is no one real inside fiction, there is no power. Only real people can hurt others this way.

I didn't spend years healing and recoving to be walked over by people who either don't undestand, or who do but unknowingly (or worst, knowingly) become the abusers. And you, who enjoy dark fiction of any kind, especially "problematic ships", especially ships like Starker?

Thank you. You're the ones who sees what I see, even when you never experienced what I did, and I hope you never had to. Not the ones who act on supposed moral high grounds, but you, you are the ones who truly understand. I am angry for your sake, because I know what it feels like to be violated in the worst of ways, and I never wish anyone to be violated in any way. So thank you for looking into these topics right in the eyes, and knowing there is nothing wrong with enjoying them. Thank you, especially, to the ones that actually point out when the situation is entirely legal, if not risky, and those who show how such ships can be healthy, for unknowingly recognizing how people like me would have felt if a similar situation had happened in real life. For recognizing where the line is between what is violation, and what isn't.

You're attacked so many times from content exploring darker topics, darker depictions of ships, or ships who aren't inherently dark but have potential issues, so for once, I want you to hear it: thank you.

Hey this isn’t an attack or anything love the posts. I’m part of the starker and irondad fandom, but mostly indulge in aged up Peter when it comes to the former.

Just wanted to say not to worry about how your posts are viewed. People will literally impose whatever they want through whatever lens they are looking through.

I saw the post that supposedly started the argument and the people that say it can’t be platonic are kinda being ignorant and judgmental for people who ask for people not to be judgmental to them.

Like I literally have moments when I take my mother’s sweater and she’s like someone is taking my clothes. She knows I’m wearing it, I know I’m wearing it of course I’m gonna reply with a sarcastic “idk maybe some is stealing our clothes” because I’m a brat and that what kids do. It usually ends with an eye roll and me now having a new sweater. I will straight up tell anyone I don’t know who ate the last cookie while eating said cookie in their face, it’s a joke.

The people that are trying to impose their thought process when all you want is fluff and comfy corner blows my mind. It’s not like you don’t know they exist you’re just asking not to be involved and apparently stating that and setting boundaries is considered edging them on is ridiculous.

Sorry it ended up being a rant, just do you. If people want to perverse that, say your piece, block them, and move on cause they won’t change their minds and you definitely shouldn’t change yours.

I am just asking not to take my posts, that’s written about 15-17 year old teen and adult for the ship, that’s all.

A lot of my friends, acquaintances and me included experienced sa or har*ssment from adults when we were kids, so it’s really triggering to see that under my posts. For me, the word fiction doesn’t justify writing about kid and an adult.
