By my accounts there are two possibilities regarding the vacuum of space. The first? We are alone, and the stars are separated by silence. The second? The universe is brimming with life the likes of which we have never conceived. This possibility, however remote, scares me far more than a soundless, solitary universe.

Planet eater

So i have a planet eater, Jaqueefus, big purple space dragon. Real sweet guy. But did you know, he has chambered stomachs?

The first stomach is where the gasses and such are slowly metabolized into fuel, the heavier stuff sinking deeper to the second one. Because it's all gas any heat ignites it, causing mini stars inside him.

The second condenses moisture and any water, since the big guy needs a drink, rock and anything else shifting deeper, some debris float though so it can get mixed in

finally, what's left of the planet is deposited to be melted down and digested for the next couple hundered years, anything living on there can probably still stay without much consequence though it isnt reccommended since most atmospheres are destroyed via consumption

It’s kind of a missed opportunity for TNG that they only had the Crystalline Entity in a couple episodes. It seemed so eldritch in “Datalore,” this cosmic horror wandering the universe making faustian deals with rogue androids.
