After breakup HCs cuz ouch 🥰

Duncan gifts Courtney a purple pocket knife with a floral design on the blade, for self defence and so she can always have an item on her that reminds her of him✨ even after they broke up, she still carries it around.

Courtney writes a small poetry book about Duncan, things that remind her of him & all the emotions she feels during their relationship, it was her own secret but one day Duncan found it & constantly reads through it whenever a new poem is added, he steals it after they break up.

For a while after the breakup, Duncan makes a big pot of coffee & uses a big mug because he’s so used to sharing with her, he even makes it the way she liked it, he stops drinking coffee for awhile after that.

Courtney stole one of Duncan’s shirts and slept in it, usually she’d wear her pink pj set but after the break up she wears the shirt and undies to bed

Phil filmed this at their apartment, but didn’t edit and post it until they were in Florida for Playlist Live. Phil promo-tweeted this video and Dan’s upcoming ones.

They were there from March 20-March 26. (Dan went back home on the 26th, but Phil stayed for a holiday with his family.) During the trip: Phil got mistaken for Smosh, ate pancakes (of course), tried to figure out how tipping worked, they hung out with lots of YouTube people (Cat, Tyler, Mamrie, Anthony, Eileen), performed a show and met a bunch of subscribers, and went to Sea World. A packed few days, it sounds like!

The idea for this video is so random and weird and could only have come from Phil’s brain, I think. According to the description, he though of it in the shower! And I’m pretty sure this tweet was about this idea. (I hope “the urge” was a purposeful pun.) He started a YouTube trend with this...Phil is really something with his creative ideas. 😊

With A Little Help From My Friends | Byker Grove Fanfic

Based on @promptsforthestrugglingauthor Friday Night Fights Writing Prompt #715. This is inspired by events and characters of the 90s British teen show Byker Grove. Bit of a rush job, so apologises if it isn’t that great xD

“How are we going to get the money for it?” His friends frowned, looking up at PJ for guidance. He blinked, trying his best to think on the spot. Being the leader was really a pain when you weren’t much more than a confident moron.

“Well, I guess we’ll just have to steal it.”

Laughter bubbled in the room, until they noticed the look on his face.

“Are you nuts?!”

Fraser, ever the sensible one, was the first to speak up, moving so suddenly in surprise that he had to re-adjust the glasses on his nose.

“Can’t we just hold a talent show or something?”

Debbie bit her lip. Sure, she had a crush on PJ, but he could be such an idiot sometimes.

“Yeah, we could ask Geoff for permission and use the money raised from tickets.”

Gemma was quick to agree with Debbie. She didn’t want to get into any trouble, and this sounded a lot like trouble.

PJ gasped a little, a plan forming in his mind. “Fraser! Geoff trusts you! You can get the combination to the safe, borrow the money, and once we’ve bought it, we can explain everything to him and work together to pay him back!”

“So, to try and raise our part of the money for Gill’s memorial, you’re going to steal from the Grove’s safe? Gill would be proud!” Speedy couldn’t resist a chuckle. Gill had died as just a teen by driving a stolen car into the side of an articulated truck. He could just imagine him egging them all on if he was still around.

Duncan stayed silent, his previous botched attempts at stealing still fresh in his mind. What PJ was suggesting, however, was worse than nicking some petty cash from Geoff’s office. Trouble was, Geoff had helped him through his problems with the promise that the whole situation would be kept under wraps, for Duncan’s sake.

The rest of them were ironing out the details, deciding who would keep a look-out and who would distract Geoff. It was Debbie who noticed Duncan’s silence first. “You ok, Duncan? You haven’t said much.”

They were all looking at him now, waiting for an explanation. He could feel his chest begin to tighten. “Eh, the plan won’t work.”

PJ frowned. “Howay man! It’s a solid plan! Why won’t it work?” His Geordie accent slipped out as he began to get frustrated. Half the reason why PJ was the leader of their little gang was because Duncan always happily went along with his hair-brained schemes. Why wasn’t he doing that now?

Gemma was getting a bad feeling. “Guys…?”

Duncan gulped. Why was PJ pushing it so much? “It won’t work because it’s a stupid idea.”

“How do you know? You haven’t even tried to help yet!”

Duncan began to leave the attic, pushing past a confused Speedy as he paced toward the door. However, before he could get out, he could feel his arm being grabbed.

“What’s wrong with you? You don’t say a word for ages, and then you just storm out like this?”

Duncan’s mouth was dry as he shrugged off PJ’s grip, the words coming out louder than he intended.

“It won’t work because I’ve stolen from him before!”

The room was quiet as the penny dropped. Duncan was gone before anyone could stop him. He wasn’t going to stick around for the aftermath.

Byker Grove Youth Club was basically a castle. Well, technically it was a tower building, but to the teens that spent their afternoons and weekends there, it represented so much more.

PJ found Duncan at the top of the turret, huddled in the corner. His heart ached a little at the sight of his best friend looking so helpless. Making his way from the small ladder to where Duncan sat, he crouched down beside him.

“You’re lucky no one spotted you coming up here, Geoff would’ve had a meltdown!”

Duncan fiddled with his bright blue jacket. He always tried to dress as cool as possible, but PJ had a knack for ending up in the better clothes. Something about how being an inspiring young DJ in the 90s meant that he had to look rad.

“You were the one who was stealing the money.” It came out as a statement. It was all fitting into place – the other teens at the Grove never did find out who the culprit was, the thefts just seemed to stop.

Glancing up at PJ, Duncan’s expression was one of sadness. He proceeded to tell him everything. How a few afternoons at the arcade at the Metro Centre led to him spending all his pocket money. How he ended up getting loans from Kelly's creepy older brother Carl. How the interest on the loans got higher and higher. How he resorted to stealing the Grove’s VHS player and the petty cash from the Grove’s café. How Geoff caught him red-handed after the Great North Run.

“I just thought, if I could try the level one more time, I’d get even higher. I would, and then I would lose the game again. It just kept going like that. I just couldn’t stop, and it got worse and worse.”

PJ sighed. “Why didn’t you come to me?”

“You, Speedy, Winston and Fraser were busy with Radio Rocket.”

PJ had noticed Duncan’s absence while they were setting up their pirate radio station but thought nothing much of it. Now that he thought about it, Spuggie had been asking around about Duncan, but he had dismissed her.

PJ nudged Duncan’s shoulder gently. “We’ll do the talent show idea. Don’t worry about it.”

“Are you sure? You were so adamant about it.”

PJ chuckled. “You’re my best mate. I’m not doing it if it’ll make you feel bad. If you ever need someone to talk to, you’ve got me. Now and whenever, okay?”

Duncan smiled, his features lighting up a little. “Right back at you.”

Standing up, Duncan gratefully took PJ’s hand as he helped him up. He was about to say how happy he was to have someone as awesome and cool as PJ as a best friend, but the words were stuck on the tip of his tongue.

“Hey, you two! You better not be smoking up there! You’re only fourteen!”

Glancing down past the Newcastle view to the field surrounding the Grove below, they caught the frustrated gaze of Geoff the manager, complete with his trademark moustache.

Waving down at him, they made their way down to the field, feeling a lot happier than they were before.

Yeah, PJ thought, the talent show was a much better idea. That was why they worked so well together as friends – Duncan called him out when he acted stupid, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

SpongeGuy Reviews Every Disney Sitcom Ever!: Pair of Kings (1.1): “Return of the Kings”

I have a new least favorite Disney show!

Strap yourselves in folks, this is one heck of a ride!

Pair of Kings is a Disney XD sitcom from like 2010 I think? I don’t respect it enough to give it a year. This hellspawn of Satan’s BRO son who thinks that putting Chad on his resume is a surefire way to get a job is about two BRO’S: Brady (played by Jeremy from Phineas and Ferb, who has seen better shows clearly) and Boomer (I don’t know who plays him, but i sure as hell don’t care!). Brady Bunch and Ok Boomer are twins (They’re bi-racial, which is neat, but this kind of representation can only hurt) who learn that they are actually the sons of the king and queen of “Random Island so we can make Island Natives are weird jokes without offending anyone in particular” Island, and they are next in line for the throne, hence the title “Pair of fucking idiots” I MEAN “Pair of Kings”.

The rest of the show is as stupid as it sounds. Basically, there’s an island native named Mason who is Mr. Moseby from Suite Life, but if he was forced to be blinded to their idiocy, his daughter Mikayla who is every boring female lead in a show like this, you know, the one who is actually serious and doesn’t want to be with these bozo’s but the show will force her to like them because she TOTALLY doesn’t deserve anything better, and of course an evil CGI fish and the 12 year old boy who owns him and is trying to kill our leads, which according to the laugh track, means that Attempted Murder is fnuny. Huh.

Ok, i can only describe this show for so long before i die. Let’s get to the 45 MINUTE Pilot. Yes, I saw 45 minutes of this. And this is apparently the best we get of this show, since they put all their money into hooking us with this pilot.

Dear lord.

Summery: 

Brady (Mitchel Musso) and Boomer (Doc Shaw) are twin teenagers living in Chicago with their aunt Nancy and uncle Bill, as their parents are deceased. Brady and Boomer are unaware that they are destined to become the next kings of an island nation known as Kinkow. After they are bullied by the toughest guys in their high school, Mason (Geno Segers) and a group of warriors from Kinkow come to bring them home. Brady and Boomer break the island's sacred ruby, causing Kinkow's volcano to erupt. Their cousin Lanny (Ryan Ochoa) tricks them into going to get another sacred ruby so they would die on the dark side of Kinkow, allowing him to become king. While they are on the dark side, Brady and Boomer are caught by a tribe called the Tarantula People, but they are protected by the bat medallion that the Tarantula People obey. Brady and Boomer obtain the sister ruby and save the kingdom. However, the chain that controlled the Tarantula People falls off Brady's neck.

COMEDY: 0 Out of 5

I doubt this shocks anyone. The comedy of Pair of Kings makes one miss the intelligent musings of a conservative Albatross with a hernia in the middle of Sunday Church. The jokes are like The Incredible’s Hulk’s Jock Strap after a s mile jog towards the savannah: They stink so bad I almost gave up all hope for humanity and started planning an escape route from the planet. All manner of wit and charm is sucked out like a single strand of spaghetti through a straw as thin as my patience for the leads, and every character quirk is so basic and cliche that the old people’s home rejected their application. If I were to write blindfolded and and upside down, with half my keyboard letters missing and a sadistic autocorrect feature installed onto my PC, I would still write something better than the humor of Pair of Kings, because then I would have written nothing at all, and nothing is at least nothing. Pair of Kings exists; may God have mercy on our souls.

So in short, it’s not funny. I smiled in pain maybe once at an Overprotective dad joke, and that’s about it.

CHARACTERS: 0 Out of 5

Imagine your typical Disney Channel sitcom. Now think of the worst version of that. Now think of the Dorkly video based on that version.

Pair of Kings is 10 times worse.

The characters are bare bones at best. In fact, they are invertebrates, and not the funny absorbent ones like Spongebob. Their personalities are so 1 dimensional and obvious that if I were to show you pics of them you could tell me their entire biographies. The leads replicate an early 2010′s trend of being two BROS who keep doing stupid things, and that’s their personality. They also replicate a 2020 trend of making me wish the apocalypse was over. They are just BROS. Whenever they have even a moment of quote un quote “DRAMA” they undercut it with humor like a wet fart at a funeral reception. The supporting cast is like my life: Barely functional and clearly inept to deal with this shit right now. Mason is “The Native Overprotective Dad”; Mikayala is “DA GIRL”; Lanny is “Scar but boring”; The CGI Fish exists.

Can my pain end now?

STORY AND HEART: 1 Out of 5

I’ll make this quick: They have the GALL of pretending that OK BOOMER and Brady Bunch have felt sorrow when they almost destroy the island. They have the GALL to have them say that they will stop being kings if that’s what they want. I’m not saying they’re incapable of such feelings, but I guess this puts it best: At one point in this ACTION-COMEDY-DRAMA of sorts, Brady Bunch says he feels bad about the kids who could die on the island. He hears the volcano burst again, and says “Good Luck Kids” to run off. Sure, this is a typical sitcom joke, but if this show wants me to take it seriously that they mean well, they just shot themsleves in the foot.

The point is for set design and tbf not too bad CGI for a teen sitcom. But I can’t stand a show that lies to my face and pretends that these two are any good. Pair of Kings? More like Pair of END ME END ME END ME.

FINAL SCORE: 1 Out of 15

Excellent favourite episodes chosen for Derry Girls. My favourite episode is when the girls are trying to get to the Take That concert: the escaped Polar Bear, Clare's (ahem) impressive disguise, Sister Michael laughing as she reads the Exorcist, the travellers adoption of James, James fangirling over Gary Barlow, and Jerry seeing the girls enjoying themselves at the concert. Also, being the super cool girl I was in the 90's, I sympathise with Clare's disappointment at missing PJ and Duncan .🐇.

.🐇. Favourite moment is when Orla takes her grandpa to prom, because "he's the fellow I like the most" 😊 So cute and lovely. I also love both of the series' finale. Did you have a favourite moment? I'm pleased you too were a Clare although I was a mixture of Clare and Erin (thinking I was cooler and more progressive than I actually was) rather than Orla. Either way we would have made quite the team you and I 😜😂 .🐇.

.🐇. ((Last Derry Girls message, I promise.)) Agreed: the baby is majorly cute! Her chubby little cheeks and the way she looks interested in all the characters and what they're doing 😅 I can imagine our David walking around with his baby girl Maia all the time like the grandpa does in Derry Girls. Just getting on with his day to day activities with her cuddled up in one of his big arms 😊 Sorry for the many many messages btw. Hope you're feeling better XX 🐇 

I was totally going to have the polar bear episode as one of my favorites! I love how the show never follows any path you’re expecting; it kept me on my toes the whole time, and I was in stitches over every weird turn. I loved it! I was so happy to see Gerry smiling seeing his daughter having such a good time-- all the adults on the show are so surprisingly sympathetic, and so kind to the kids when it really counts. 

I was not a 90′s kid, so I have absolutely no idea who PJ and Duncan are, and I honestly didn’t even think Take That was a real band, because I was a fetus for the 90′s!

And yes, that’s one of my favorite moments, too! Orla and Granda dancing at the prom made me so happy. In fact, every scene with Granda is my favorite, because he’s just fantastic, but I was so overjoyed by how loving he was with Orla for the prom. He didn’t treat it as a weird thing at all, and was just happy to be with his granddaughter, treating her like the most special girl in the world. It made my heart so warm :’)

And, of course, I adore the little baby! I love her so much, and the way she’s always just hangin’ out, watching the chaos unfold. She’s so small and sweet, and seeing her Granda being the one holding her and taking care of her primarily is so darling. He clearly loves that little angel so much!

You are very correct about the David comment, too; I’ve always pictured that he’s the kind of papa bear who doesn’t like to let his babies out of his sight, so he either has his babies clipped on to him in one of those chest carriers or he’s got ‘em in his arms. He’s gotten very good at one-handed cooking and bottle-warming, carrying his little girl with him everywhere. 

She’s his little buddy, and he brings her with him shopping, or out into the yard to walk the dog; anywhere David goes, so too does his wee little Maia, bopping along as she is safely cradled in the nook of his big forearm, bigger bicep, and biggest ol’ chest. 

I like to imagine David sitting down in his big chair with the newspaper, reading it in such a way that it stands up and covers most of his upper body and face, and when someone approaches to talk to him, he folds it down, only for the baby to peek out from behind the pages. No one even knew she was there!

So... cute... and... perfect...!

Yep, another at long last, I have a terminal some free time, and some actual encouragement.

Again this is as amateur as gets but hope to have some insights and sometimes, with a web project, its about just keeping it going.  And thanks for the encouragement to do thatl

I updated the last installment for a *brief* look on how the toe ended up in Bill’s backpack and Fangbone ends up meeting him compared to the graphic novel

This is, now that I think about it, really and VERY strongly where the two stories and depictions diverge.  GN Fangbone is sly, wily, and cunning. But with our increased kinetic action.... well

Fangbone accuses Bill, ignorant of everything of theft but the Krakken catches up snatches him yanks him about, to comedic affect and then...throws him

With REMARKABLE Hangtime,

Moreso factoring in the scene where Bill is in his PJs, presumably after dinner being tucked in by his mother, notices glow and effluvium from it leading to the toes discovering presumbling parallel to the above.

Likely screaming and flying some hours in the air 

He does need a nap.

Needless to say this if VERY different from his ‘infiltration’ into class 3-G of the same day

TBF the Forging of Friendship is combination of the Summit of Swords plot, where the Shadowsteppers and Mighty Lizard Clan meet to negotiate their feud to non-mutual extinction levels, AND the flashback to the cartoon’s version of their first adventure.

The change up in pacing as well as circumstances lead for a more dramatic arc and number of action scenes as to the immediate friendship that forms then grows stronger as the stakes get more severeof the GN.  And also illustrate the difference between GN and CN Fangbone and Bill.

Like so,

 as on the next day, and start of the next Flashback framed as Bill reasoning with Axebear on a trampoline and Fangbone with One-Eyed the Slippery at Weinerdogs, Bill is admiring the toe when fangbone attacks

Despite this amazing lack of tactical comprehension and proof of his safety Bill panics and RUNS OUTSIDE where

He is snatched up by a prepared trap, which does show while more obviously buffoonish this Fangbone DOES have his own means and cunning.  In fact this slightly turns around the near constant humiliation and embarrassment that’s been befalling our favorite 3rd grade barbarian.

While STILL insisting Bill is a thief this is where, unable to show you proper with just pictures (please don’t get struck down) 

We finally get their first proper meeting and for all that its got Fangbone raging and being stubborn its actually a nice bit of characterization for both individually and set up for how we can see these two getting along.

Taylor and Colin really deserve a thumbs up for the rapidfire overlap filled with characterization.  As Bill seems more intrigued and gleeful and Fangbone is fronting.  To a degree, he HAS to know this is *his* screw up and he’s projecting some and puffing himself up to assert himself over his plain as day weakness and poor performance and confusion.

Bill does prove not *quite* as foolish as thought, between jumping out of the door it seems he hid the toe in a gambit.

This is sort of the closest analogue in the GN

Eventually Bill is cut down 

questions fangbone and then reveals where hid toe, his locker, 

But then finds it *wiggling* and that means

Heh, the CN REALLY emphasizes action in these encounters as the characterization, buildup, and worldbuilding is in the framing device... and also past episodes. 

 Fangbone is eager to stand his ground and “dance the dance of death”  But Bill, as can imagine, RUNS

This leads to Fangbone being distracted at the fleeing toe and gaining concussion number six or so (this episode) running after pursued by krakken.

As can see we really don’t emphasize the bond with the class this episode or encounter them as the GN was building things up with Fangbone and establishing a more...well I’m not sure mature but as least not the same overaggressive character.  Plus setting, and general sense of boys adventure written and pictured story.

I mean GN Fangbone knows to ask to be excused to “make droppings” During which we get the stranger in a strangeland cliches people can note like this

Also meet Duncan,  he didn’t make the adaptation.  At all.  Not even a hint.

PRAISE BE TO STONEBACK (and his prophets Simon Racioppa and Richard Elliott)  But seriously ANOTHER character difference

Like night and day.  Part of it is the style choices in the artforms.  Fangbone even when gesticulating never seems that out of it.  And he handles this challenge smoothly and like he knows what he’s doing.  whereas, admittedly because unlike this one which hasn’t have a different battle (aside from a rusted scrapheap) we haven’t seen him fail or tricked yet.  In fact he’s, more out of luck but still, being the clever one.

This is even more of a divergence.  See In the GN Fangbone is very focused on mission and life.  While it is here at long last we see monsters, though some were in a narrated flashback to the class, attack Fangbone and see the writhing of the foul footfinger macguffin of Morg

Admittedly not the most clever or involved of fights but they indicate Bill’s quick wit and how this will contribute to Fangbone and Bill’s friendship and battles.  At first Bill thinks Fangbone is cool and has obvious vulnerabilities. They talk and interact.  Bill sees fangbone triumph over things big to him that are as nothing to Fangbone.

And Fangbone sees the immediate benefit to Battle in bill’s awareness, dovetailing with his ambitions to build an army, making him remarkably more controlled and yet less obedient or drone like? Less a model barbarian?  Its just something that stands out.

Also this leads to a feature of both series, what every adventurous duo needs hideouty/digs

Cavebania is found and was introduced to Fangbone by Bill.  This is a touch that’s put aside in the Forging of Friendship but a similar scene could be 

afterwards with Bill freaking out at home somehow ditching Kraken and Fangbone by bus, hoping he doesn’t know what one is and then.  okay damn

Again after the near humilation conga of incompentence Fangbone is proving himself more than the buffoon he’s played as the closer his and Bill’s worlds meet.

What happens is the series taking advantage of motion and set up action scenes happening so fast aren’t robbed of threat or excitement.. even if the direct confrontation is ended 

Because fangbone impaled his sword at a door and Bill pulled out a cheap plastic light up toy that scares him.

But then bill *gets it* Fangbone “isn’t from around here” and this is the scene it feels they genuinely calm down and commiserate.  Fangbone finally being allowed to chill Bill returns the toe .. then it writhes

Fangbone actually suggests luring it to Bill’s room as believes it will trap and confuse and scare it like it has him.  But instead...

As they pedal away to better ground as Fangbone awkwardly rides in back swording off arms in desperate attempt to avoid attack.

Really the differences is this is more near the end of the series and giving us a lot of charming firsts, made all the moreso with the framing device, how we see Fangbone can be loudspoken and childish but plenty focused and consider even wise, to a degree, as to overly severe and fruitless.  Bill is more childish but more...socially aware and intrigued.  And that exchanging of names works to get them on the same page and already cooperating and appreciating each other more.

The GN is building the concept and characters from ground up  Taking its time.  It also gives us more sense of two pals growing closer as to a whirlwind happenstance slamming them together.

But the snappy action and turn and reversals in such short time is efficient in the television series, while the more casual development of a regular day of a refugee also trying to see to his objectives is also nice in the graphic novel.

And the Graphic novel has even more encounters, including the more... involved bit about Fangbone and Bill’s developing friendship along with Fangbone’s with 3-G.
