IT ALL COMES OUT IN THE WASH A @jilymicrofics. Prompt: flush. Words: 229.
“Lily, what’s wrong?” He grabbed her wrist, effectively stopping her in her tracks.
She span around, wrenching her arm out of his calloused grasp.
Their faces were streaked with rain. His black hair was flat against his forehead for the first time in his bloody life and hers was sticking most irritatingly to her flushed neck and cheeks, turned blood red from the rain.
“What’s wrong?” She spat, almost laughing. “What’s wrong is that I’m in love with the you!”
Well that wiped the stupid—it wasn’t a smile per se—look off his face.
“I’m in love with you and you’re a bloody arsehole and I’m in love with you. I should hate your guts but all I want to do is snog the life out of your stupid gorgeous stupid face.” She was shouting.
He was gaping.
“Not so clever now, are you?”
That snapped him out of it.
He descended on her. Grabbed her sodden face with his sodden hands and kissed her square on the sodding mouth, holding her to him, not letting her squirm away like she surely wanted to. She didn’t want to. She wound her arms around his neck, gripped him like he was oxygen and she was drowning. And he kissed her. He kissed her and kissed her and kissed her until she was no more.
It kept raining.

here’s Wolfstar being a couple of menaces and driving James up the wall while he’s trying to study (he’s only “studying” in the library in attempt to impress lily, so no harm done)
I’ve been hoarding a bunch of Marauders scribbles I’ll probably never clean up so expect more incoherent chaos

Unpopular opinion #2
Severus wasn't in love with Lily.
He had an unhealthy emotional attachment towards her because she was his first friend, the first person ever to be nice to him and whom he could trust. There isn't a single paragraph or sentence in the canon material that implies his feelings for her were romantic, beyond the patronus thing, and that doesn't necessarily mean it was romantic.
She was his best friend, they grew up together, and Severus' life outside of her was miserable (abusive parents, bullying, bigoted housemates, the death eater cause grooming him), so it makes perfect sense he thinks of her to cast a patronus. His only happy memories were probably with her.
She was his family, his anchor, and I dare to say, his sister. And when she died because of the prophecy he overheard, he felt like he killed her himself. He condemned the only person who ever cared about him.
That's why I can't stand the common interpretation of Snape as this lovesick/simp/obsessed stalker in memes and fanon stuff. He literally said it himself, in the books:
"I thought we were friends? Best friends?"
He didn't sound disappointed, or sad, or bothered. He was stating the truth of what he felt. He wanted Lily as his friend, nothing more. And like any normal person, he was broken when he lost her.

jily’s seventh year pining era will never not get me.
them looking at each other during meals and lily thinking james doesn’t like her anymore while james is just aching because she’s still so beautiful>>>
them going to sleep after a gryffindor common room party only to realize they spent the entire night together talking and laughing>>>
james trying his hardest to just be lily’s friend and respect her wishes while lily has been sending signals at him for weeks>>>
lily drooling over james after quidditch practice>>>
james being in awe of lily when she gets a question right during class after trying to compete with her a moment before>>>
them all of a sudden having inside jokes and being the first ones to look at each other when something funny happens>>>
my heart is always so warm thinking about them.
(btw remus and marlene were the most excited out of everyone)

House Guest
“Potter—what are you doing here?”
“Happy Christmas! I know I could have waited until we got back to school but—”
His voice trailed off. What should he say? But I missed you? But I’ve been thinking about you night and day since the moment I met you? But we left for holidays just after you kissed me in the common room unprovoked and I really really would like to do that again?
Another extra fluffy, 6th year xmas fic for @jilytoberfest Day 8, Prompt “Maybe we can find out what the hell your problem is over dinner sometime”
AO3 Link Here
James stood in the garden memorizing the wood grains of the Evans’ front door. He shifted his weight back and forth, hoping that his parasympathetic nervous system would kick in before he possibly made a complete ass of himself. Like a hum in his ear, Sirius’ voice pushed him on.
“Birds love surprises, Prongs—she’s gonna be chuffed.”
But then again how many times had he steered him wrong? A lot.
He closed his eyes, tight enough until it hurt and felt his hand hover over the door before making a few raps with his knuckles. Courageous…Gryffindor…not at all nutter behavior…
The door swung open. A girl older than Lily with mousy blonde hair stared up at him, mouth set in a frown.
“Yes?”
James cleared his throat. On a second scan of her face, he could see the same shape of almond eyes as Lily, same slender nose, like looking at some completely flawed interpretation of her.
“Uhm, Is this the Evans’ residence? I’m looking for Lily.”
The girl’s eyes narrowed, teeth clenching before slamming the door in his face, making his glasses go askew. James just stared back at the wood again, wracking his brain if Remus had ever mentioned very specific muggle etiquette for house calls.
He heard a shrill voice loud enough to pierce through the wall and the shuffle of bodies. The door reopened. It felt like one of those muggle style magic tricks he had seen on the Lupin’s TV once. Instead of the other girl, Lily stood in her place, all her features righted back to their natural form.
“Alright, Evans?” His hand jumped into his hair on instinct. Lily blinked at him, hand grasping the knob.
Instead, he didn’t say anything, opting to extend the gift he held against his chest towards her. Lily eyed it, then flitted her gaze back up to him. He tried his best smile, hoping she couldn’t tell that his confidence was waning the longer he stood on the stoop.
She ignored the gift, leaving her hand firmly on the door knob.
“How do you know where I live?”
James shifted again. He was hoping she wouldn’t ask—it was the part of this outing he wasn’t very proud of.
“I–uh.” He knew if it had been any other time he would have been able to think of a million lies that would have suited as a response. Instead, the truth fell out.
“I knew you lived in Cokeworth,” he began, “so I took Sirius’ motorbike here and—”
“Sirius’ what?”
Her arms were now crossed, incredulous.
“Can I explain that one later? That might take a bit more time..”
“Fine–so you came to Cokeworth.”
James sighed, his Gryffindor courage was not coming in handy.
“--So I came to Cokeworth and wandered around for a good hour until I found a bookshop–and I said to myself hey, Evans likes books—so I went in and I asked the bloke behind the counter if he had seen the most beautiful redhead to ever exist with an incredible pair of–”
“What the fuck, Potter.” She took an indignant step towards him.
“--pair of green eyes, Evans. I know I’m a randy teenager but cut me some slack…”
It shouldn’t have, but the rhythm of banter brought new life to him. He was starting to feel back to form, though still very much making a fool of himself on the stoop. Lily tried to say something multiple times, but clipped off her words with each attempt, completely flabbergasted.
“---but anyways turns out he did know you so here I am.” James finished his ramble, finding himself now rather pleased.
Lily looked at him for a while, eyes searching for some sort of answer he wished she’d just ask for. Finally, she let out a defeated sigh, stepping further out onto the stoop and a bit closer to him. She was only wearing a light sweater, and she wrapped her arms around herself to hold out the cold.
“I guess fighting you on this is useless.”
He could have been hallucinating, but a smile twitched on her face.
“So will you accept my gift?” It might have been snowing out, but he was starting to feel incredibly warm.
“I’ll accept your gift.”
Lily took the package, turning its bulbous shape in her hands. Some pink formed at her cheeks and her eyes flicked up to his before shucking off the wrappings. An ornate china teapot with etchings of leaves curling their way through wind scrawled around its base.
“Mum helped me pick it out–told her you were a fan of art nouveau. I charmed it so all you need to do is add water and it will automatically make your drink of choice—I couldn’t help but notice you have a whole beverage routine in your day.”
Lily twisted the pot in her hands, eyes soft and adoring.
“Beverage routine, you say?” An eyebrow disappeared up into her fringe.
“Well, sure,” he cleared his throat, “In the mornings you drink black tea with milk. To study you drink coffee–an espresso with foam if possible but black works too. When you read in the common room you like either mint or ginger tea depending on the season, and on the rare occasions I’ve seen you and Marlene put on a muggle film you have hot chocolate or cider.”
Lily looked up again, mouth slightly agape. James felt his confidence wane.
“--- not that I’m paying attention or anything.”
Lily burst out laughing, holding the teapot close to her body with two hands.
“You are an absolute nutter Potter, you know that?”
“I’ve actually been told I’m a pretty normal bloke until I’m around you.”
Lily dropped her gaze, her cheeks were burning from an equal mixture of laughter, embarrassment, and the cold.
“Thank you,” she stammered, “It’s incredibly sweet.”
A part of him wanted to start in on everything: ask why she had kissed him the night before holidays, demand to know where they stood or what to expect once they returned to school. Instead, he reached out a hand and placed it on her cheek, feeling the sting of the winter wind on her skin.
“You should go back in, it’s bloody freezing out here.”
He moved to drop his hand but she placed hers against it, leaning her cheek into the warmth of his palm. Turning her head slightly, she tucked her lips into his hand, cold lips pressing into calloused fingers.
“Have you had dinner?”
Her question zapped him back to reality. From the feel of her lips, he had been completely transported out of body, fighting all urges to curl his arms around her, kiss her like she had kissed him in the common room and then some, and wrap her inside his coat until all the cold melted away.
“Uhm, no I haven’t.”
She removed their hands from her cheek, and they dropped between them, fingers now interlaced.
“Would you-”
She didn’t even need to finish the question. He squeezed her hand and with a laugh she pulled them both through the front door, no longer cold.

Prompt 21 - Mask
@wolfstarmicrofic October 21, word count 342
Sirius watched as Remus joked with Lily, their laughter filling the common room. They were squashed into one of the window seats, Remus’s long legs bent around Lily so he would fit. Lily didn’t seem to mind, leaning happily against them to give Remus as much room as she could. They had a book between them and kept flicking to different pages before passing it to the other to read and then peals of laughter sounded again.
In a lull of their excitement, Remus looked over at Sirius and blushed when he caught the other boy watching him. Sirius let the mask his mother had forced him to create to protect himself from her and other painful things, slide onto his face as he hid his true emotions from his best friend. He gave him a small half smile that didn’t meet his cold, lifeless eyes before turning his attention to the book he hadn’t been reading in his lap.
“Hey, Pads, you alright?” James asked, ruffling his hair as he plonked himself down on the sofa next to Sirius. Sirius’s hand went straight to his hair as he tried to undo the chaos James had caused.
“Fine,” He grumbled. James reached over and gently grasped his chin, turning his face to look at it.
“Oh, Sirius, take that off,” He ordered sadly. Sirius screwed his eyes shut and concentrated until the darkness slid away. “That’s better,” James crooned as Sirius’s grey eyes softened. Remus and Lily’s laughter rang out again and Sirius’s eyes snapped across the room. “Pads, you really need to stop mooning over Moony and just tell him already,” James said softly. Sirius yanked his chin free from James’s fingers and gathered his things together.
“I can’t risk our friendship, Prongs, it’s too important.” Sadness coloured his words. He glanced one last time at the pair in the window and headed out of the portrait. He didn’t know where he was going, but all he knew was he needed to be away from Remus before he did something stupid.

Boom, Boom.... Boom, Boom.... Boom, boom
Lily couldn't hear anything but her loud heart beats. Her cheeks were burning and there was that sensation again. The glow inside her chest, the butterflies in her stomach.
This crush was going to kill her.
And for what? He had only put his arm around her shoulder. In a friendly way that was! They were friends! Just friends!
But God, he smelled so good. And he was so close.
"Hey, Evans?... Evans?"
A shove on the shoulder made her come back to reality. She had to keep it cool.
But how could she? James's perfect white smile was melting her away. How couldn't she notice him before? He was so handsome. His hair was messy in a sexy kind of way.
"What do you think?" he asked.
"Ha?" Lily blushed. Oh, she was so pathetic. She had missed the entire conversation. Just for the arm! Only an arm! And not only James, but the rest of their friends as well.
"Do you agree with the party after the match? I mean despite the results"
"Which are going to be Gryffindor winning" Marlene added with a smile.
Lily could feel the amused gazes from her friends. Mary, Marlene and Remus who knew her crush. How embarrassing.
"Yeah, yeah. Sure!"
Lily would've said no before. Always following the rules. But there was something inside of her that was changing. She just wanted to be a dumb teenager and have fun.
Her whole face was on fire now. And that beautiful grin was going to be the death of her.
"That's my Headgirl" he winked.
Jesus Christ! Fancying James Potter was a complete nightmare.

Lily: for the record this is self destructive.
Remus: for the record? I’m aware of that.
Lily: …
Remus: for the record I’ve been picturing his body draped over my bed wearing his leather jacket.
Lily: for the record?
Remus: I’m screwed.

12th May - Mutual Pining - @wolfstarmicrofic - word count: 421
It was hot. It was airless. The scent of parchment, and dusty tapestries, and sunbaked flagstones clung to everything.
Sirius lay, one hand resting on his stomach, shirt unbutton past his collar bone, listening to the sound of the water of the Great Lake lapping langourously at the shore. His eyes were closed, orange pin-pricked with stars beneath his eyelids, listening as Lily tried and failed to patiently explain it to James one last time.
"I'm never going to get this."
"You will," Lily insisted.
James hmphed and in his mind's eyes Sirius pictured him push his glasses up his nose before he said, "I'm worried that all this cramming is just pushing all the stuff I do know out of my head."
"But maybe if I just explain it one more time..."
"Give it up, Evans. Please do us all a favour and just enjoy the sun."
There was what Sirius interpreted as a furious silence. Sure enough, Sirius opened one eye and saw Lily scowling in his direction.
That was before James reached out, pulled Lily into his arms, and planted an impromptu kiss on her cheek.
Lily's scowl melted despite herself before she laughed and pushed him away.
"Where's Remus anyway?" Lily asked, smoothing down her hair and casting her eyes back up the path towards the castle. "We could do with someone to restore some sense to this so-called study session."
"That's him coming now," James said, nodding.
Sirius felt the tell-tale flutter in his stomach which he suppressed, shielding his eyes from the sun and looking over to where Remus was walking towards them.
He recognised the gait, wide and slightly lilting. He saw Remus' eyes narrow into a smile, wrinkled at the edges, as he spotted his friends at the lakeside and gave a wave. His sleeves were rolled over his elbows. It was so warm that even Remus, who keenly felt the cold, made this concession to the heat. Sirius saw as he drew closer the muscles of his forearms, his skin slightly tanned from the weeks of good weather.
Remus greeted them and sat down beside them. Siririus watched the slight bead of sweat roll from Remus' brow to his cheek and disappear round the curve of his neck.
Remus turned, sensing Sirius watching, and Sirius passed his hand over his forehead, rubbing his eyes wearily before saying with an affected yawn, "Good of you to join us, Mr Moony. Now test Lily on her Arithmancy before she makes poor Prongs' brain capsize."
