offhanded van gogh
today, my right ear very painfully rejected my helix piercing.
but as i looked in the mirror, it was my left ear bleeding. transfixed, i watched the ribbon of blood make an intentional journey to my earlobe.
i, personally, believe he didn't kill himself. many artists do, but I don't think--
i think it was more complicated than that. and my piercing will probably close up. so it goes.

𝖤𝗆𝖾𝗋𝗀𝖾𝗇𝖼𝗒 𝖢𝗈𝗇𝗍𝖺𝖼𝗍 (𝖯𝖺𝗋𝗍 𝖮𝗇𝖾)
Rafe Cameron x Reader | Pt. 2
a/n: hi my lovelies! I wrote this based on one of my favorite songs! Emergency Contact by Pierce The Veil. It ended up being really long so I decided to chop it up into three parts! Not sure if I'll write more for it but I'm just happy to get out of my writer's block and post something new. I hope you enjoy! Feedback welcome and encouraged :)
synopsis: Y/N has always been close to the Cameron family, practically a part of it after years of friendship. Beneath the surface, unspoken feelings simmer between her and Rafe, but neither of them can muster the courage to admit it. When Y/N finally decides to move on, setting her sights on a new man, he’s forced to confront the truth: losing her might cost him more than he ever realized.
warnings: slight angst
wc: 3.1k+
Rafe wasn’t used to girls like you. Sweet, kind, and angelic. His experience with women had mostly consisted of those who were after his money or his drugs, their intentions shallow and self-serving. But you were different. You didn’t want anything from him—not his wealth, not his reputation, not his vices. Your every interaction with him felt genuine, and it threw him off balance. You made him feel things he couldn’t quite name, emotions foreign and unsettling in their depth.
The first time Sarah brought you home was about three years ago. You had recently moved to the Outer Banks and met Sarah at a party at the Boneyard. You hit it off immediately, your laughter and warmth cutting through the chaos of the night. Sarah had invited you to dinner with her family, and you accepted, not knowing how much that evening would change everything.
You wore a white sundress that night, the fabric brushing against your sun-kissed skin. Your hair fell in soft waves past your shoulders, and you carried yourself with effortless grace. You looked like the picture-perfect Kook, someone destined to fit seamlessly into their world. Sarah had assured you her family would love you—and they did. But no one was more captivated than her brother, Rafe.
“Rafe, this is Y/n,” Sarah introduced as you stepped into the dining room.
“So nice to meet you!” you said warmly, your smile lighting up the space.
Sarah had expected Rafe to scoff or brush you off like he usually did with her friends. Instead, he stood there, visibly flustered. His blue eyes darted from you to the floor as he scratched the back of his head, his hair falling slightly into his face.
“I-uh-you too,” he stammered, his voice uncharacteristically soft.
Sarah smirked, barely holding back a laugh. It was rare to see Rafe like this, vulnerable and unsure. Throughout dinner, he was unrecognizable—quiet, attentive, and completely entranced by you. He didn’t crack a single sarcastic remark or roll his eyes like he usually did. Instead, he listened intently as you chatted with Rose and Ward about your background, your studies, and your dreams. His heart skipped a beat every time you laughed, the sound stirring something deep inside him.
Later that night, as you and Sarah changed into pajamas in her room, she couldn’t help but tease you.
“Rafe likes you,” she said, a sly grin spreading across her face.
You blinked in surprise. “Really? He seems… shy.”
Sarah snorted. “Oh, he’s far from shy. At least, not with most people. I’ve never seen him clam up like that before.”
You bit your lip, a soft smile tugging at the corners of your mouth. The thought of Rafe Cameron—the same Rafe who intimidated just about everyone—getting nervous around you sent a flutter through your chest.
Over the months, you became a fixture in the Camerons’ lives. You grew close to Sarah, sharing secrets and adventures like lifelong friends. But it was your bond with Rafe that surprised everyone—including yourself. Around you, he was different. The sharp edges of his personality softened, his temper cooled. He was kinder, calmer, and, for the first time in years, genuinely happy.
Sarah noticed the change immediately. She even started to enjoy spending time with her brother—something she’d never thought possible. Whenever you were around, Rafe seemed lighter, his dark moods kept at bay by your presence.
And while you’d never admit it out loud, you’d started to feel something too. The way his eyes lingered on you, the way his voice softened when he spoke your name—it all made your heart race in a way you couldn’t ignore. You knew it was risky, falling for your best friend’s brother. But with Rafe, it felt inevitable.
Today was an exciting day. You and Sarah were helping Rafe move into his new house, a milestone he’d worked tirelessly to achieve. It wasn’t as grand as Tanneyhill, lacking the opulence and legacy of the Cameron estate, but it was something entirely his. A charming seaside home, bathed in sunlight and kissed by the ocean breeze, a place where he could finally carve out a life of his own. With Sarah already living with John B, you knew Rafe had felt out of place staying at home at 24. Now, this house was his fresh start.
“This is gorgeous!” you called out, your voice carrying across the open space as you stepped onto the balcony off the living room. The view was breathtaking: the endless stretch of ocean meeting the horizon, waves rolling in with rhythmic grace. The sun warmed your skin, and the salty air filled your lungs, making your heart feel light and free.
Rafe followed you outside, a soft smile playing on his lips. “I thought you’d like it,” he said, his voice tinged with pride. But while the sea and sky formed a masterpiece before him, his gaze lingered on you instead, captivated by the way the sunlight danced in your hair and the way your eyes sparkled with joy.
“I mean, look at this view!” you exclaimed, leaning against the railing and spreading your arms wide as if to embrace the entire ocean. “I could look at this forever!”
Rafe’s eyes never left you. “Me too,” he murmured, so softly it was almost a whisper. His words weren’t meant for the horizon or the waves, but for you—the only view that truly mattered to him in that moment.
You turned to look at him, a grin lighting up your face. “I brought champagne! To celebrate!” you announced, practically bouncing on your feet before darting back through the house and out to your car to grab the bottles you’d picked up. Returning triumphantly, you popped one open, the cork flying with a soft “pop” and a few fizzy streams spilling onto the hardwood floor. You laughed it off, quickly pouring everyone a glass.
“To new beginnings!” you declared, raising your glass high, your eyes sparkling as they met Rafe’s.
“To new beginnings,” Rafe echoed, his voice soft but steady as he clinked his glass against yours, his gaze lingering on you a little longer than necessary.
The rest of the afternoon was a flurry of activity. John B and Rafe tackled the heavy lifting, moving boxes and furniture, while you and Sarah set to work unpacking and arranging. The kitchen was priority number one, ensuring Rafe would at least have a functional space to cook while settling in. Between trips to Tanneyhill and the furniture store, laughter filled the air, making the hard work feel less like a chore and more like an adventure.
By the time evening rolled around, the four of you collapsed onto the couch, surrounded by a sea of half-opened boxes. You leaned back, exhaustion mingling with the lingering buzz of champagne.
“How do you have so much stuff?” Sarah groaned, shooting Rafe an incredulous look.
Rafe smirked, leaning back against the couch. “Please, I seem to remember a few boatloads of crap when we moved you to Poguelandia.”
“He’s not wrong,” John B chimed in, raising an eyebrow at Sarah. “Our room is mostly your stuff. I have, like, one drawer.”
“Oh, shut up!” Sarah laughed, playfully slapping her boyfriend on the shoulder. She yawned, stretching her arms over her head. “Speaking of our room,” she said through another yawn, “I’m ready for bed.”
You giggled as John B helped her up from the couch, the champagne’s bubbly warmth making you feel light and carefree.
“Thanks for the help,” Rafe said, walking them to the door. You listened as the Twinkie’s engine roared to life, fading into the distance as Rafe closed the door and returned to the couch.
“Rafeyyyy,” you whined playfully, stretching out the nickname as you leaned into the cushions. “I think I might’ve had a little too much champagne.”
Rafe chuckled, his lips curving into an easy smile as he settled beside you. He loved the way your nickname for him rolled off your tongue, soft and endearing. “That’s okay. You can stay here tonight. Take the bed; I’ll crash out here.”
“What? No!” you protested, sitting up a little straighter. “It’s your first night in your new home! I don’t want to ruin that.”
“Trust me, sweetheart,” he said, his voice low and warm, “you’re not ruining anything.”
“I don’t even have a change of clothes,” you pouted, crossing your arms for dramatic effect.
Rafe’s laugh was soft, a sound that made your chest feel lighter. He reached out, gently tucking a stray strand of hair behind your ear. “Go shower. I’ll make the bed and find you something to wear.”
Your cheeks warmed under his touch, but you nodded, a cheeky smile spreading across your face. “Okay,” you said, hopping up and darting toward the bathroom.
You were grateful you and Sarah had spent time unpacking the essentials in the master suite. Grabbing a towel, you locked the door behind you and turned on the shower. Steam quickly filled the space, cocooning you in its warmth. As the water cascaded over your skin, washing away the day’s sweat and exhaustion, you let yourself relax, the events of the day swirling in your mind. Rafe’s soft smiles and gentle touches lingered in your thoughts, leaving your heart fluttering in a way you couldn’t quite shake.
You tried to push the thoughts from your mind. You and Rafe were close friends—nothing more. You couldn’t justify having feelings for your best friend’s older brother. Besides, Sarah had set you up on a date with JJ Maybank for tomorrow. The blonde Pogue was someone you’d grown to know well. He was carefree and fun, always ready to brighten everyone’s day with his infectious energy.
You were genuinely excited for your date with JJ. Rafe, on the other hand, didn’t see you as anything more than a friend. Sure, he’d had a small crush on you when you first met, but that had been ages ago. He’d never made a move, so you assumed those feelings had long since faded. You shook off the intrusive thoughts and focused on finishing your shower, letting the warm water wash away any lingering doubts.
Meanwhile, Rafe moved with quiet purpose. He carefully made the bed, choosing the softest sheets he could find and fluffing the pillows with meticulous care. On the edge of the bed, he laid out one of his favorite T-shirts and a pair of sweatpants for you. Comfort was his priority. It always was when it came to you. He wanted you to feel at ease, to be happy. Deep down, he was completely and hopelessly in love with you, though he’d never admit it. The thought of saying it out loud felt terrifying—what if it changed everything?
Hearing the shower turn off, Rafe quickly exited the room, retreating to the couch. He pressed play on a random movie, letting the screen light up with familiar scenes as a distraction. Ten minutes later, you emerged from the bathroom, wrapped in his oversized clothes, your damp hair framing your face.
“Hey, how are you feeling?” he asked, his voice soft.
You sank onto the couch beside him. “Better. Sleepy,” you admitted with a small smile. “Thank you,” you added, gesturing to the clothes you wore.
“No problem,” he replied, fiddling with his earlobe, his gaze flickering nervously between you and the TV.
“What are you watching?” you asked, pulling your knees to your chest and resting your chin on them.
“Uh, just some old movie,” he said with a shrug. “Put it on for background noise.”
You squinted at the screen, quickly recognizing the iconic characters. A playful grin spread across your face. “Rafe Cameron, are you watching Titanic?”
Rafe glanced at the TV, his cheeks flushing. He hadn’t even realized what he’d put on. “Oh, I… I guess so,” he mumbled, scratching the back of his neck.
You laughed softly, turning to him. There was a shy look in his eyes, but it wasn’t about the movie. It was something else, something deeper. He looked like he wanted to say something, the words hovering on the tip of his tongue. But before he could speak, he clamped his mouth shut, redirecting his attention to the screen.
“You wanna watch it?” he asked quietly.
“Yeah,” you said with a smile, leaning back into the couch. The comfort of the moment settled over you like a blanket.
You hadn’t planned on falling asleep, but the champagne and the long day had drained you. Before you knew it, you were slumped against Rafe, your head resting on his lap as soft snores escaped your lips.
Rafe’s heart swelled as he looked down at you, a tender smile spreading across his face. He gently played with the ends of your hair, his fingers brushing against the silky strands. As the movie reached its emotional climax, he found himself tearing up—not just at the tragic ending but at the overwhelming emotions swirling inside him. You looked so peaceful, so angelic, and he felt an ache in his chest he couldn’t ignore.
Carefully, he shifted, lifting your head to slide out from under you. Scooping you up into his strong arms, he carried you to the bedroom, mindful not to disturb your slumber. He pulled back the covers and tucked you in, making sure you were snug before clicking off the light. Leaning down, he pressed a soft kiss to your temple, lingering for a moment to take in your serene beauty. With a reluctant sigh, he made his way back to the couch.
Sleep didn’t come easily for Rafe that night. He tossed and turned, his thoughts consumed by you. He’d tried to bury his feelings, tried to convince himself that friendship was enough. But the more he tried, the stronger those feelings grew. In the quiet of the night, he allowed himself to daydream—a cozy little house by the sea, a dog, maybe even kids. A life with you. But reality crept in, reminding him that to you, he was just a friend. Nothing more.
The next morning, the savory aroma of eggs and bacon wafted through the air, stirring you from sleep. You rubbed the remnants of slumber from your eyes and glanced around, the unfamiliar surroundings reminding you where you were. Rafe’s new house. His king-sized bed cradled you in luxurious comfort, but the empty space beside you felt oddly hollow. For a fleeting moment, you’d hoped to find Rafe still asleep there. The thought made you frown, though you quickly reminded yourself that he’d slept on the couch—because of course, Rafe was a gentleman like that.
You padded softly toward the kitchen, following the sound of sizzling. “Smells good,” you said, your voice still heavy with sleep.
Rafe jumped slightly but turned to you with a soft smile. “Oh, hey! You’re up! I made breakfast.”
“Thanks, Rafey,” you replied with a grin, sliding onto a stool at the kitchen island. Then guilt crept into your tone. “Sorry I got all drunk and stole your bed.”
He shook his head dismissively, turning back to the stove. No need to apologize. I’m just glad you got some rest after yesterday.” He plated eggs and bacon, setting it before you. “Did you sleep okay?”
“Like a baby,” you chuckled, picking up a crisp strip of bacon.
“Good,” he replied, his voice warm as he resumed cooking. “So, any big plans today? Wanna help me unpack more of this mess?”
You paused mid-bite, your mind flickering to the evening ahead. “I can help for a bit, but I have a date tonight, so I’ll need to head home early to get ready.”
The words hung in the air, slicing through the calm. Rafe’s hand stilled, his grip tightening on the spatula. He didn’t turn to look at you, knowing his face might betray the knot tightening in his chest. In all the time he’d known you, he’d never heard you talk about a real date. Sure, you danced with guys at parties or flirted harmlessly, but this—this was different. His heart twisted painfully, the kind of ache he couldn’t ignore.
“A date?” he asked, forcing his tone to sound casual, though the words felt like sandpaper against his throat. “With who?”
You hesitated before answering, as if bracing yourself. “JJ,” you said quietly. “Sarah set it up. I haven’t been on a date in a long time, so I’m not really sure what to expect.”
Rafe’s mind reeled. JJ Maybank. Of all people. Why would Sarah do this—when she knew how he felt about you? He plastered on a tight smile, masking his turmoil as he finally turned to face you. “It’ll be great,” he said, his voice steady despite the storm raging inside him.
“You think so?” you asked, chewing your lip nervously. “I’m kind of... nervous.”
He swallowed hard, shoving his feelings down where they couldn’t escape. “Yeah,” he said, the words tasting bitter. “You’re a catch. He’d be a total idiot not to like you.”
Your lips curved into a warm smile, and for a moment, your gaze locked with his. Those ocean-blue eyes of his held something unspoken, something tender. “Thanks, Rafe,” you said softly, your voice full of gratitude.
He forced a grin, though it felt hollow. “Of course,” he replied. “Tell you what—don’t worry about the unpacking. Go home and get ready for your big date. Can’t wait to hear all about it.”
You beamed, finishing the last bites of breakfast. “You’re the best,” you said, grabbing your purse and heading for the door. “Thanks for letting me crash! I’ll get your clothes back to you tomorrow!”
Rafe watched as you hurried to the door, his heart aching with every step you took away from him. He raised a hand in a mock salute, a forced smile still glued to his face. “Have fun,” he said, his voice hollow.
The door clicked shut behind you, and suddenly the house felt suffocatingly empty. Rafe stood in silence, staring at the spot where you’d just been, your laughter still echoing faintly in his ears. He let out a sharp breath, his chest heaving with suppressed emotion. Before he could stop himself, he grabbed the nearest glass off the counter and hurled it against the wall. It shattered into a thousand tiny pieces, much like the hope he’d been quietly holding onto.
His hands gripped the edge of the counter, his knuckles white as he tried to steady himself. She’s gone, he thought bitterly. She was never mine to lose, but somehow, I lost her anyway.
For years, he’d found comfort in being the one you turned to—when you were too drunk at a party, overwhelmed by a panic attack, or even just bored on a lazy afternoon. You’d always come to him. But now, you were running toward someone else. JJ fucking Maybank.
And there wasn’t a damn thing he could do about it.

Bad Brother | Damon Salvatore
Summary: You're forced to spend the evening with Damon, your boyfriend Stefan's annoying older brother. He decides to corrupt you...
Pairing: Damon Salvatore x reader
Genre: Suggestive, older brother AU, enemies to lovers
Word Count: <1k
“Baby sitting’s boring,” Damon said.
Damon was lying on the sofa with his head hanging over one arm.
He flipped through a magazine at lightning speed. “Taylor Swift broke up with her boyfriend, blah blah blah - all read. Let's go out now!”
“Stefan said we can't leave the house. It's too dangerous,” you said.
Suddenly, you felt your body fly through the air. Damon had carried you to the front door. You shivered. He was stronger than you thought.
“Put me down!” you said. He dropped you, hard.
“One drink?” Damon said, smirking down at you and rapping his fingers on the door.
“One drink, and you'll behave for the rest of the night?” you said.
Damon nodded, eyes wide and innocent.
You couldn't help but smile at his ridiculous expression. “Fine. One non-alcoholic drink. And not from a bar - from a supermarket.”
Damon rolled his eyes. “Alright. You're more of a goody two-shoes than Stefan.”
At the supermarket, Damon walked straight to the soda aisle - and hid a can of cola in his jacket pocket.
“What the hell?” you hissed. “Put that back!”
You heart thumped. You'd had your share of fun in your life - but shoplifting was crossing a line.
Damon walked right to the door, adding an infuriating little salsa to his step.
“Quiet, Y/n,” he whispered. “You're acting suspicious.”
You wanted to punch him in the face, but you had to follow him. As the doors opened, you started to feel light-headed. You were getting away with it!
Just then, someone yelled, “Hey. I saw that!”
All of a sudden, he put an arm around your shoulder, and said, “Mia moglie è malata, questa bevanda è per lei.”
The manager was striding towards you and Damon. You glared at Damon, so angry you could barely breathe.
To your surprise, Damon muttered, “Can you run any slower?”, before grabbing you in one arm and carrying you the rest of the way.
It had to be Italian. The only things you could understand in his next sentence was “no English” repeated loudly by Damon, while he steered the two of you out.
Finally, the woman gave up and you sprinted towards the car.
As you drove home, you felt a thousand emotions. You wanted to be angry at Damon, but you couldn't. All you felt was exhilaration.
“You are just so - ugh - I can't even with you!” you said to Damon, as you walked back to the house.
Damon smirked and held out two cans of coke. “I swiped one for you too,” he said. Cherry. Your favourite.” He winked. "Will you pop it, or shall I?"
You hesitated, then cracked open the can. It was fizzy and delicious.
“Why didn't you just… compel the woman at the store? Why bother with the ‘no English’ act?” you asked.
Damon shrugged. “Because it's fun, Y/n. Obviously.”

Falling - Katherine Pierce
Masterlist
Summary : The heartless Katherine Pierce is falling in love with you but she's scared of you.
Warnings : vampire!reader, The Vampire Diaries canon violence, mention of torture, angst, happy ending, implied sex (no actual smut), maybe some grammatical mistakes as English is not my first language, tell me if you see some or if I missed any warnings.
A/N : I've finally had enough time to write another one shot! So sorry for taking this much time, it's still be complicated for a bit but I'm hoping everything will be coming back to normal very soon!
Word count : 3.4k
French version
Song inspiration : Labyrinth by Taylor Swift
Katherine’s eyes are set on your figure as you’re laying down on your stomach, the sheet covering half of your naked back. Katherine turns around in the bed and faces you, she admires every inch of your face that isn’t hidden by the pillow, from your closed eyelids to your lips, those lips she loves to kiss so much. Katherine gets lost in her contemplation and reminisces about the first time you met.
Chicago was plunged into the colours of the night while you were behind a bar which wasn’t very frequented. You were feeding when the sound of heels hitting the paved ground caught your attention.
“I wanted him to be my diner.” Katherine's voice resonated in the alley.
“Too late.”
You let go of your prey, letting the man fall before turning around and finding Katherine; your eyes were wide opened as your exclaimed:
“As I live and breathe, Katherine Pierce!”
“I see my reputation precedes me.”
“The only vampire who’s escaped from Klaus for more than 500 years, it’s something rare. Really impressive.”
“I know.” Katherine had smiled proudly.
“May I ask why the infamous Katherine is doing in Chicago?”
“I’m visiting. I’m enjoying the free time I have while Klaus is busy with the Salvatore brothers and my pathetic doppëlganger to have some fun. Do you know any interesting places to fill up?”
“You have in front of you the perfect tour guide. Three hundred years of experience under my belt.” you had told her, getting closer to her.
“Show me the way.”
You two had matched so well that Katherine had found her way into your bed the same night.
Following your meeting, Katherine stayed one month in Chicago with you and she even ended up considering you as a friend, a friend with benefits but a friend nonetheless. In your presence, Katherine feels safe, protected, something she hadn’t known for half a millenium. Thanks to you, Katherine always has a smile on her face, you make it your personal mission to make her break a smile.
Of course, Katherine isn’t someone who stays put. She had ended up leaving town and promising you to come back.
And that’s what she did that night. She came back to Chicago after five months away from you because she missed you - though she’d never admit out loud.
As you shift position in the bed, your arm makes its way to Katherine’s waist, bringing her closer to you and also snapping her out of her daydream; Katherine enjoys this touch more than she’d want to. She let herself go to your embrace while inhaling your body scent with her eyes closed; whilst she engraves it in her memory, Katherine feels her heart beating a bit faster, something that hadn’t happened in a while - she always makes sure it doesn’t happen. Katherine’s thoughts are all over the place, searching for an explanation nevertheless the conclusion is unanimous. With dread, Katherine thinks:
“uh-oh, I’m falling in love.”
She can’t accept it. She has to avoid these feelings. Love never works when it knocks on her door and she doesn’t want to lose you. She cares too much about you to ruin what you have so Katherine does what she does best, she picks up her clothes and runs away, leaving you alone in your big bed.
Three months have passed since Katherine ran away. You’ve tried calling her, she’s declined all your calls. Katherine does everything to forget about you whereas all of your thoughts are focused on her. You don’t understand what happened; sure, sometimes she can be busy with other things so she doesn’t pick up the phone but she always calls you back. She always called you back. You worry about her, fearing she might be in danger. You don’t have any other explanations in mind so you’ve started looking for her. You need to make sure she’s okay.
From one supernatural creature to the other, you slowly get information on Katherine’s whereabouts. Katherine quickly gets notice of your actions and she makes it harder for you by putting you on the wrong track. She still needs some time alone as a way to be sure her feelings for you are gone. She can’t let them take a bigger spot in her heart. Katherine is lost in the labyrinth of her mind as she wants to repress the feelings that only want to be expressed.
However, you’re stubborn and know how to get what you want, you manage to find her a month later.
You wait for Katherine at her apartment. You don’t know when she’ll get back though, you know you won’t let her slip through your fingers, you have to talk to her.
Katherine ends up coming home in the middle of the night. As her guard is always up, she knew something was wrong before she opened the front door. Carefully, she comes in and she sees a figure laying on her bed, Katherine speeds up, ready to attack but stops the second she realises it’s you.
“You’re freaking dumb! I almost ripped your heart out!” she screams, running a hand down her face.
“Why are you ignoring me?” you blankly ask.
“You should leave.”
“No. Not until you answered me.”
“I have nothing to tell you.” Katherine affirms, crossing your arms on your chest.
“Katherine, why are you ignoring me?”
“Because you’re annoying.”
“Tell me the truth.” you order, irritating her even more.
“Oh my God! Why do you insist so much? I owe you nothing.”
“I was worried about you! I thought something happened to you! I thought maybe Klaus hurt you.”
“I’m doing fine, you can go now.” she tells you, showing you the door.
“I’m staying.”
“Leave me alone, Y/N.”
“Answer me, Katherine.” you say, mad.
“I want you to leave me in peace! We had fun, it was nice but I want to move on so stop being clingy.”
“That’s it? Without a real reason? Everything was great and you woke up last time and decided to leave and never look back?”
“Exactly.” she replies, her voice deprived of any emotion.
“I don’t buy it.”
“Believe whatever the hell you want, I don’t care.”
“I know you, you’re hiding the truth.”
“If it was possible, you’d be giving me a headache right now.” Katherine sighs, rubbing her temples. “Leave it, Y/N!” she snaps.
“No, I’m not gonna ‘leave it’. You left without saying a word, you ignored my calls and you gave false information so I wouldn’t find you.” you enumerate, your last information taking her aback. “I might have never been on the run, but I know how you work. I know you’re running, from what I don’t know but you’re running from something.”
“You’re talking non-”
“Am I?” you cut her off, desperate. “Because it’s exactly what you’re doing. As soon as something you can’t control happens, you run away, you isolate yourself from everyone. You might not be used to this, but you matter to me so I want to know the truth, I want to know what’s wrong so I can be here for you. Don’t shut me out, talk to me.” you beg, taking a step toward her. “I’m here for you.”
You catch your breath once you’re done talking. Your gaze is set on Katherine, waiting for her to react, she doesn’t. Katherine is too preoccupied with being shocked to do so. Never had someone ever cared that much about her. She doesn’t know how to react. Only her heart does. It beats a bit faster whilst the feelings she’s been shoving down explodes once more in her chest.
“Oh no, I’m falling in love again,” she wonders.
She thought she had the situation under control, that she’d be able to protect herself like she always has yet, you make it hard. Katherine wants to protect herself from love. Stefan, Elijah and other people, it always ended badly. No matter how much she tries to stay in control. She accepted she isn’t meant for love so Katherine can’t give in now, not even when you do everything to keep her close to you.
Katherine takes a deep breath then her face is emotionless as she drily replies.
“I don’t want you, here or anywhere else. I’m perfectly fine on my own. I don’t get how you could think for one second that you mattered to me. You’re nothing to me so go away.”
Katherine’s words are like a stab in the back. Your eyes stings and you try your hardest to not tear up. You look at her one last time before slamming the door of her apartment behind you.
When Katherine is alone, a sob almost inaudible escapes her lips. She looks up, hoping no tears will fall. She didn’t fight for five hundred years just to crack now for something so insignificant! She is Katherine Pierce. She survived to the cruellest original, she can’t let herself breakdown because she doesn't want to fall in love. Though, the pain in her heart doesn’t help. Katherine tries to ignore it by thinking it only hurts this much right now before the pain eventually softens. It has to. Katherine breathes in then breathes out. It’s only a hard time to pass, she will forget about it quickly. That’s what she tells herself but a part of her knows she’ll be getting over you her whole life. The bond you have is too rare to be forgotten that quickly.
You haven’t talked with Katherine in the past six months. You miss her. You wish you had never lost what you had. You had never felt this for no one before. You knew being close to Katherine wouldn’t be easy. A lot of people told you to stay away from her because she only brings pain nonetheless, you didn’t listen to them. At first, you were glad you formed your own opinion. The minute Katherine lets her guard down, everything becomes easy and you spend an unforgettable time. However, when she creates walls, everything becomes painful. You wish you could talk to her again, but she hasn’t shown a sign of life since you left. Furthermore, you are the one who always makes the effort, it’s her turn to prove she cares about you.
As a consequence, you go back to your daily life like it used to be before you met her, even if your heart bleeds from her absence. Some things seem more insipid, like the nights you spend alone, the walks you do in town without having someone to tell your historical facts. You struggle, though it’s slowly getting easier.
One night, while the streets are lightened up by the lampposts, you notice a woman from afar. You have to look at her for a few seconds to recognize Claudia, she had helped you to find Katherine. She nods before disappearing behind a car which drives past her. You follow her whilst you’re searching for the reason why she’s here. As soon as you enter a dead-end alley, Claudia stops and faces you.
“Why all this mystery?” you question, joking.
“I have information on Katherine Pierce.”
“I found her six months ago, you’re late.” you tell her, starting to leave.
“She’s been kidnapped two weeks ago.” Claudia informs, your stomach twists upon hearing that.
“It’s impossible. It’s Katherine Pierce we’re talking about.”
“That’s what I was told.”
“And is your informer reliable?” you ask, searching for any trace of lie.
“Quite reliable, yes.”
“Who kidnapped her? Klaus? One of the Salvatore brothers?”
“No, it’s Everett Ackland.” Claudia says, this name sounds familiar. “Katherine caused him some problems two hundred years ago. He wants revenge.”
“Why does he keep her alive, then?”
“Katherine caused him problems with Klaus. He hopes he’ll make amends by giving her to him.”
Following her sentence, you remember what Katherine had told you about Everett and you know he won’t sell her to Klaus without torturing her first. Worry leaves its place to anger, knowing he’s hurting the person who means the most to you.
“Where is she?”
“He’s holding her at Bloomington, Indiana. I’ll send you the address on your phone.”
You don’t add anything else and walk away. As soon as you come home, you grab a few things, including some blood bags, then you drive to Indiana. On the way, you receive a message from Claudia and you drive faster, wanting to arrive as soon as possible.
You’re near the woods when you stop the car, a few metres away from the abandoned house. You walk to a tree and break a branch as a way to have stake. With your vampire hearing, you listen and find out there are four vampires besides Everett and Katherine. Determined and angry, you walk to the house.
Silently, you open the door and start walking. The moment you’re in front of the enemies, you kill them quite easily. You guess there are young vampires Everett created for his revenge plan. By killing his minions you know he’s aware of your presence. You stay on the lookout for every noise while going to the cellar where Katherine is.
As you go down the last step, you only have enough time to see Katherine when Everett attacks you. He pins you against the wall, making you drop your stake. You answer his attack and you start fighting back. Your fight lasts several minutes until you rip his heart out, not without smiling at him. His body drops dead on the floor whilst you let go of his heart. You turn to Katherine and run to her.
“Kat’, you’re okay?
Upon hearing your soft voice, Katherine looks up, a relieved expression on her face. You glance at her body and notice the chains tying her up on the chair but also the first signs of drying up. She needs to feed right now.
“I’m here, it’s gonna be okay.”
You keep reassuring her while breaking her chains. The second Katherine is finally free, her body falls on yours. You barely hold her whilst she holds onto you as if you were her safety net. Paying more attention to her, you realise she doesn’t have her necklace to protect her from the sun anymore.
“Where’s your necklace?” you ask and Katherine points the table in the corner.
Katherine still leaning on you, you get back her jewel and put it back on her neck then, you put her arm around your shoulders and you two walk to the car where you help her to sit on the passenger side. Before closing the door, you go to your trunk and get two blood bags then you give her one. In less than a second, she drinks it until the very last drop. As soon as Katherine feels better, you give her the second one then you go behind the wheel. While Katherine is feeding again, you start the car.
You’ve been on the road for more than an hour. You’re focused on the way you drive whilst Katherine still hasn’t said a word. Her eyes are lost on the landscape. You don’t start the conversation, guessing Katherine probably needs time to gather her thoughts so just like she does, you stay silent.
You’re about to enter the State of Illinois when Katherine’s hoarse voice breaks the silence.
“Stop the car.”
“What?” you ask, not sure you understood.
“I said stop the car.” Katherine repeats louder.
“We’re almost there.”
“I said stop the freaking car!”
Abruptly, you brake, surprised by her harsh tone. You don’t have the time to put the car at a standstill when Katherine has already opened the door. She quickly walks, determined. You know she can use her vampire speed at any given moment so you run to her and stop her by gripping her arm.
“Let me go.” she says, mad and taking her arm out of your grip.
“And where do you wanna go exactly?”
“I don’t know yet. I’ll see along the way.”
“It’s stupid, let’s go home.” you stop her as she is ready to leave.
“It’s not my home. Leave me alone, I can take care of myself. I don’t need you.”
“Yeah, that’s what I saw!” you retort, sarcastic. “You totally had the situation under control when you got kidnapped and you were chained.”
“I would have found a solution, as always. I’m a survivor, I can save myself.”
“It’s true you managed to save yourself for centuries but it doesn’t mean it always has to be this way. You gotta accept that sometimes you need help like right now.”
“You freed me once, don’t make it such a big deal.” Katherine exclaims, rolling her eyes.
“I’m not making it a big deal! I just want to show you I’m here for you when you need it.”
“I don’t need you anymore so leave me alone.”
“Why do you try so hard to push me away?” you question. “I know you told me I’m no one for you but we both know it’s not true. What we had was real and genuine and for some reason you decided to ruin everything. No matter how many times you try to convince me, I know it’s not true.” you insist, getting closer to Katherine. “Otherwise, you wouldn’t have wasted that much time on me. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have stayed all these nights and days. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have confessed that much about your past. Otherwise, you would have never been that vulnerable. Otherwise, you would have never searched for comfort in my arms when I came for you. So why? Why do you-”
“Because I love you!” she cuts you off, screaming.
“What?”
“I’m in love with you. I’m in love with you and it scares me.” she admits, looking at you deeply in your eyes. “Every time I allowed myself to feel those emotions, it brought me my own downfall. Every time, I ended up losing this person and I didn’t want to lose you. I’m afraid of being in love with you and losing you because I know if it were bond to happen, I wouldn’t be okay again so I preferred to run away rather than facing you.”
“I love you, too.” you confess, trying to take her hand unsuccessfully.
“Don’t say it because I told you. I don’t need your pity.”
“I’m saying it because I mean it. I love you, too and that is why I can’t let you walk away. I love you too much to lose you, too. And I know it won’t be easy because you went through awful things so you don’t trust easily but I can be patient.” you affirm, succeeding in taking her hands.
“You’re saying this right now but you’ll end up hating me like everybody else.”
“I know you. I knew your reputation well before meeting you and it didn’t stop me from getting closer to you. I learned to get to know you, the real you and it didn’t stop me from falling in love with you. I want you and everything it involves, the good sides and the bad ones. You can try to push me away as much as you want but I’m not going anywhere. I will always be there for you because I love you.”
Your hands on both sides of Katherine’s face, your eyes looking deeply in hers, your determined tone, Katherine’s heart can’t handle and starts to beat wildly. She didn’t expect this reaction from you. She didn’t expect that much conviction from you for everything you had.
As Katherine’s eyes search for proof, even a tiny one, that you’re lying, she can only see honesty, love and the fear you have of losing her. At this moment, only a thought crosses her mind:
“Oh, I’m falling in love.”
She thought she was going to face another lost cause, see another love fall down, you just proved to her that this time, it could be different. This time, she can allow herself to fully fall in love without being scared, you’ll always be there to catch her.
Katherine puts her hand on yours, softly stroking it before kissing you with passion. You answer her kiss while bringing her closer to you as possible. Katherine loses herself in your kiss which, for the first time, doesn’t taste like a future betrayal but pure love.

stefan salvatore x afab!reader.
summary: you are attacked by the katherine pierce and your worries and fears manifest in the way of a panic attack, but stefan comforts you in a very unexpected yet unique way.
🚫do NOT copy, translate or put my work thru an AI.
You got up startled and breathed heavily. Your eyes took some seconds to adjust to the lack of light in your room. Well, to be more precise, the room you had been occupying at the Salvatores’ Boarding House for a couple of weeks now. You took a glance at the clock on the nightstand: 3 A.M. Cursing to yourself, you laid down on the bed again. You hadn’t had any decent amount of sleep since the Masquerade Ball; the night you’d thought it was just about going out with your friends, but it ended up being a truly near-death experience. And obviously, your brain chose the quiet and lonely nights to make you revive all those memories.
Caroline, your closest friend, has tirelessly begged you and your group of friends to go to the Masquerade Ball at the Lockwood’s Mansion. She had recently begun dating Tyler so she wanted to make a good impression on his parents by taking all of you to the charity event that they were organizing together with the Founder's Council.
“Say again, please, how could I, that I’m not part of the Founding Families, help you look good in front of your boyfriend’s parents?”, I questioned her while we got our coffee cups from the counter at this new small shop that opened near our school.
“Well, Tyler, Stefan, Damon, and Elena have to go due to the obvious reason, Bonnie has accepted and Matt can’t make it due to his work shift. I don’t want you to feel left out”, she casually replied before giving her coffee a sip. “Besides, the more people I bring, the better the Lockwoods will look in front of other powerful families thanks to me!”
I’ve never understood how Caroline math works.
“Care, don’t worry about me. No offense taken. I have no problem with staying at home, eating pizza, watching a mov..” My speech slowed down as she frowned at me. “I’m not getting out of this, am I?”
“Y/N, you know I don’t take a ‘no’ for an answer. Come on! It will be so much fun!”
Little did she know…
You were on the dancefloor with your girl friends, Caroline, Bonnie and Elena, moving your bodies to the beat of this new party song. You were having a really good time. Of course, you’d never admit that to Vampire Barbie (as Damon often called her) because that will surely give her a free pass to drag you to any social event in Mystic Falls.
Speaking of Damon, he was at the Ball too. And so was Stefan. You’d spotted them leaning against a wall, drinking something and chatting among themselves. Your eyes rested on the youngest Salvatore for longer than you may have liked it, but you couldn’t find the strength or the willingness to look away. The black suit he was wearing made him look more handsome than he already was. You had a big crush on him since the day you met, but obviously you haven’t made any moves on him because of Elena. Now that they’ve broken up because she took a bigger interest in Damon, there might be some chance for you.
At some point his eyes found yours and he gave you a sweet smile. You gave him one of yours but then instantly looked away because you didn’t want him to know you were blushing. Probably he couldn’t tell because of the distance, but still. You excused yourself to your friends so you could go and talk to him. Any interaction with him would make coming to the Ball, wearing this long dress and these uncomfortable heels totally worth it.
Suddenly, while you were making your way towards Stefan, the power went off and silence took over the place for a couple of seconds. The people around you started to murmur, asking themselves what was going on. You tried focusing on what you managed to hear so you could find any of your friends and leave the mansion. A horrible sensation took over you.
As you were about to take your phone off your purse to turn on the flashlight, you felt a sharp pain throughout your abdomen and let out a muffled scream.
That’s when the lights were switched on again and you saw what it seemed like a butcher’s knife piercing your middle section. You heard several screams from the people around you and how they started running away. You were losing tons of blood but you couldn’t move due to the shock. You also saw the person who had stabbed you. Elena? No, that couldn’t be true. Physically, it was her; her exact same face. But the clothes were different and there was something in her eyes that wasn’t there before. Evilness.
“An early birthday present for you, Y/N. Enjoy”, she said grinning and then exited herself with supernatural speed.
What the fuck?
You couldn’t think about anything else as you felt all the energy being dragged out of your body and collapsed to the ground. Luckily, before your head hit the floor, somebody caught you in their arms.
“Y/N”, you heard Stefan’s desperate voice. He removed the knife and gave you his blood to heal you. You drank it but the injury was far deeper than what a little of vampire blood could cure, so you were struggling to keep yourself awake. It seems he could sense it as well so he grabbed your face and tried to make you focus on him. “No, no, don’t close your eyes. Look at me!”
You gathered the almost non-existent strength you had to obey him but you could feel yourself blacking out.
“I can’t. Sorry, Stef…” that’s all you could manage to say and he shook his head.
“Y/N, look at me, don’t fall asleep”, he interrupted you but his voice appeared to be more distant; as if he was talking from the other side of a tunnel. Although your vision was blurry, you saw a second pair of hands pressing something on your abdomen.
“Stefan, what do we do?” It was… Caroline?
“We need to get her to the hospital. We’re losing her.”
And then, pitch darkness.
You woke up at the hospital the following day. There was a bandage wrapped all around your abdomen and your mind was foggy. Flashes of the previous night events came and went. Caroline and Stefan knocked on the room door shortly after to see how you were doing. They gave you a ‘Get better soon’ card signed by everyone, including Damon. You could picture him doing it against his will with his typical frown on his face.
“Soooo, are you going to tell me what happened last night?”
“Y/N”, Stefan started talking. “Why don’t we wait until you feel better to give you the details?”
“But, I’m already doing better. Look, I’m not bleeding”, you lifted the sheets that were covering your body to show him your clean bandage. “And I’m also fully awake”, this time you raised your eyebrows.
He squinted his eyes, not fully believing the attitude you were giving him, especially while still lying on a hospital bed. You were spending a lot of time with Damon lately.
“Ok”, Caroline continued. “The one who tried to kill you was Katherine Pierce, Elena’s doppelgänger." You looked at her nodding, as if you understood that word. You had some googling to do as soon as you got home. “And you almost did, your heart stopped for some seconds but the paramedics brought you back with CPR.”
“Why would she do that?”
“We aren’t sure yet”, it was Stefan’s turn. “The strongest theory is that you were used as a distraction. Damon saw Katherine take something from the Lockwood’s mansion and ran away. We need to go back and check what’s missing.”
“That bitch. I’m gonna…”, you started getting up from the bed but Stefan quickly stopped you.
“You are not going to do anything other than recovering. Let us deal with Katherine. We’ll make her pay for this.”
After being discharged from the hospital, Stefan suggested you go live with him and Damon since being alone in your apartment wasn’t a good idea. This way, they could keep an eye on you in case Katherine or any of her minions made an appearance.
However, regardless of who is there to protect you, the atmosphere of paranoia and uncertainty, combined with your insomnia have led you to a dark place. You were so trapped in your own rthoughts that you didn’t realize that you sat up on the bed again and started crying loudly, therefore waking up Stefan.
“Hey, Y/N”, you jumped a little due to his sudden voice. “What’s wrong?”, he asked, sitting on your bed and then cupping one of your cheeks with his hand.
“Everything”, you chuckled despite the tears.
“Don’t worry, we’ll catch…”, you interrupted him. You were growing tired.
“I’m sorry, Stefan, it’s not that I doubt any of you, but Katherine… she is really smart. She has fooled us once and she can totally do it again… I’m…", you tried swallowing the lump in your throat. "I’m afraid to close my eyes and sleep because that way I won’t be aware of her coming in here and finishing me off.”
Stefan could actually see all these negative thoughts come in and out of your head. Your brain was like an engine. And your eyes looked like waterfalls due to your unstoppable tears.
“Or what if…", you continued. "What if I turn into a vampire?”, your breath became unsteadier ; you were panting, “What if I’m already turning into a vampire? You and Caroline… the other day… said I died but then came back. I had your blood in my system when that happened, right?” You were talking so fast that Stefan didn’t even have time to cut you off. “I don’t know, maybe someone secretly gave me human blood while I was sleeping at the hospital so I didn’t notice the transition. I can’t do this, I can’t. I…”, you took your hands to your chest as you felt the beginning of a heart attack.
“Y/N, please. Look at me", he cupped both of your cheeks with his firm hands and looked deeply into your eyes. "I need you to breathe with me. Focus on my voice”, he started inhaling and exhaling for you to copy him but it was a failing attempt. You were not paying any attention to him. Your panic attack was at its worst.
“I’m going to die”, you blurted out, with a trembling voice. You repeated that sentence over and over and over.
Stefan knew you suffered from anxiety but he didn’t imagine you (or has never seen you) like this. He mentally cursed himself for not previously asking you what to do in these situations. He tried the breathing exercise once again but it still didn’t work. He tried mentioning people and things you loved, happy things, so you'd rather focus on them, but it was also a dead end. You were absolutely trapped in your overwhelming suffering. He grew more desperate. Then, a quick memory flashed through his brain. He once read in a book that holding one’s breath may stop a panic attack. He didn’t think that covering your mouth and nose with his hand would work, so he crashed his lips onto yours. He didn’t know how you would react, but it was better than doing nothing.
Your eyes opened widely but then closed again. You were too shocked to do anything else, but still managed to enjoy the kiss. Slowly but surely, the storm inside of you died down. He was the one who pulled back after some seconds. You stayed frozen in your place, with a confused expression.
You wanted to ask him what that was for, but the words got stuck on your throat. Stefan seemed to read your mind.
“I once read somewhere that holding your breath could stop a panic attack”, he gave you a concerned but loving look. “And when I kissed you, you stopped breathing”. You stared deeply at him after his explanation.
“Did I?”, you added with a shaky and sore voice.
“You did”, he smiled softly, also lowkey shocked about how much he liked to kiss you.
You thanked him with a sincere whisper. You didn’t want to move yet, in case of breaking the spell. Of this being a dream and waking up during the best part. Your heart was still racing but now for a different reason. The good kind of racing. He also stayed there close to you.
He continued to ask you if you were feeling better; you nodded in response. Your cheeks flushed. He started getting up from your bed to give you some space but you didn’t want that. You wanted to be as close as possible.
“Stefan, wait… Can you stay with me, please?, you pouted. Your voice came off soft and innocent. “Until I fall asleep, at least”.
“Yeah, sure. For as long as you need.”
You smiled while you moved a bit to make room for him on your bed. He laid down, resting his back on the wooden bedpost and opened his arms, inviting you to snuggle on his chest. Once you did, he wrapped his arms around your back. Your legs were also tangled with his. The sound of his heartbeat worked as a lullaby, relaxing every muscle on your exhausted body. You felt the tension and fear melt away. Your now steady breath mixed with Stefan’s.
“Thank you for staying”, you told him, your voice was barely audible.
“Always”, he murmured while one of his hands played with your hair and the other one stroked your back gently. You could get used to this. A faint smile curved your lips as you thought to yourself: Bring it on, Katherine. I’m not afraid of you anymore. Well, you were a little bit. But with Stefan’s comforting presence, you felt you could overcome whatever evil plan she had for you.
Your eyelids started to feel really heavy with the weight of last weeks' worries. You were slowly drifting closer and closer to sleep. The last thing you recall is Stefan placing a kiss to the top of your head.
“Rest well now, Y/N. I won't let anyone or anything hurt you again. I promise”, he whispered although he was pretty sure you couldn’t hear him due to your finally peaceful slumber.
that's the end, my friends. i'd love to read some feedback :) and, of course, if you have any request, leave them on my asks <3

LOYAL COMPANION
Stefan Salvatore/F!Reader
PLOT: Before chaos. there was you. You who made a bond with the younger Salvatore brother. Connected by the hip through thick and thin, bestfriends forever. Right? WARNINGS: blood, violence
HOW CAN ONE SAY SOMEONE IS LOYAL TO THEM? By having to be there all the time? By protecting them from whatever harm comes their way? ___was a longtime friend of Stefan Salvatore since they were kids. They met playing by the creek at Mystic Falls. ___, having no siblings enjoys Stefan's company. Hanging out at his house or hers from time to time and going to walk around the town to complete errands that one of their parents told them to do. You enjoyed his presence, he was kind. It was present in his actions. He had a good heart and it showed whenever you were together with him.
This day was not different from your everyday spent with him. "Stefan? What are you up to?" You ask, sitting down on a rickety wooden chair at their front porch. He looks up from fixing his shoe, about to stand up from the chair beside you, he answers. "Nothing, really. I was about to find Damon, but I guess you're here now, soo. What do you want to do?" You smile, gazing down at the floor. Avoiding Stefan's eyes from your tomato flushed skin. You tuck back a stray hair strand behind your ear, "I have a gift for you." You announce as you stand up, walking down the porch stairs. You look back to Stefan behind you, "Are you coming or what?" He smiles, nodding his head a yes. "When do I not?"

You make him follow you to the place where everything started, where you both became the best of friends. Of course, to you, he was. "You have to close your eyes though." You suddenly face him. You had not expected the close distance you had with him; you step back. "And why do I have to?" He asks curiously, walking a bit closer to you. He tilts to the side for your answer before he looks around. "Oh, you brought me here. Under the old oak tree." He laughs, remembering the memories you made with him before together. "I am quite sentimental." You reason, "Now just close it!" Your hands try to cover his eyes, failing when you both laugh as he shrugs them away. "Alright! Alright. You got me so curious, ____." You roll your eyes at his words, "Give me your palms and try to feel what I placed on them. Okay?" You grab a silver necklace with a blue ascent adorning its pendant out of your pocket, placing it on his palm. You grin, "It's a little heavy, a locket?" Stefan asks, opening the pendant to feel a small space inside. He holds the pendant until he could feel the chain on it. "It's a necklace." He states. You sigh, shaking your head out of disappointment. "Wow! You guessed it." Sarcasm dripping in your words, "I would have never thought you would." Stefan chuckles, opening his eyes and inspecting the necklace. You watch him, waiting for what he has to say.
"I like it." He states, catching your gaze on him. "I'll protect and wear it forever." Your tomato flushed cheeks return, "That's good. I have one too." You smile, showing him yours that's already worn on your neck.

As months pass by, both you and Stefan grown much closer. Your locket has a note for him to read when the right time comes and his, well, you're not sure if it's a picture or something else by the way he reacts when you ask about it. "Come on, I have known you since you have crawled down the stairs and hit your head on the wooden floorboards." You reason with him, trying to get a hold of his necklace. He laughs, "If I cannot see yours, it is not fair to show you mine." You huff, furrowed eyebrows on your face out of despair, and defeat. You walk in front of his bed, distracting him from folding his clothes. Stefan mentioned earlier about a visitor staying at their house. An orphaned girl, trying to find a family that would accept her. "What if I pass away? Huh! There! I would not know then what is inside!" You joke about your death, yet Stefan immediately looks up at you. "___, that is not fun at all. You will not certainly. Especially at this present time." He scolds you, his forest green orbs capturing your full-on attention. As you were about to reply, Damon comes in his room. "Father tells me we should personally greet the young lady, Stefan. She is ought to come soon." He says, greeting you with his charming smile as he walks in front of both of you. Stefan turns his head away from his brother and to you, his face painted with guilt. You were supposed to read together about a book you found at your grandfather's old library. "It is alright," You reassure him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "We always have tomorrow." He reciprocates your smile and touch, placing his hand on top of yours. "I promise then I will accompany you to judge a book." You laugh and stand up, "You better keep your promise, Stefan Salvatore!" You shout as you walk out the house.
You arrived your home with a cheery mood, your mother grinning knowing about the cause to your change today. "I am guessing, a certain boy who has the last name, Salvatore, made you shaken up like this?" She asks, following you to the living room. You plop down on to the lumpy cushion of your threadbare settee, it was passed down to your father after grandmother had passed just a year ago. "Maybee, but you'll have to be more specific." You tease her, giggling as she sits down beside you, and tickles the side of your tummy. "The youngest one then! Stephan? Stephen?" Your mother asks, suddenly serious as she pretends to be ignorant with her hand resting on her chin. "It is Stefan! The one who's hair is a little proper rather than Damon who has this unruly dark mess on his head!" You argue sarcastically, your mother rolls her eyes.

You wake up from your well rest slumber considering the fact that you will be seeing Stefan once more. You hold your necklace and reminisce about the day you gave the other half to him. As the sun shines on your face, you wince. Standing up, you get dressed, and head out.
You pass by your nice neighbors, greeting them a good morning as you finally approach the Salvatore's home. You knock on their door, ready to bombard Stefan with tons of opinions on different things you both take interest of until a woman instead opened it. "Hello there, what would you need of at this early time in the morning?" she asks, staring you up and down. "Hello! Is Stefan already awake?" You try to peek through the door, but she shuts it as she steps outside on the porch mat. "Yes, he is. Though, I'll relay to him your message as I believe he is tired due to yesterday." Her reply makes your face turn into disappointment. "Surely, he can tell it himself. I mean, Stefan is usually like that, but he'll come around and have the strength again. What did he do-" Before you even finish what you have to say, the girl cuts you off. "Look, Stefan and his brother are still resting this morning. Whatever you have to say or do can really happen tomorrow," she walks close to your face as you stumble back from her sudden towering figure, "You won't bother me and the brothers for the whole day and you will forget what you had planned with them." Your eyes blink erratically after the stare down with her. You turn your back and walk down the porch, walking straightforward to the wrong direction of your home.
You don't remember how you ended up in the middle of the woods. Scared, you look around, desperately trying to find a resemblance of your town. "I need to get home; father would end me." You thought, as you wander in circles around a bush. A carriage pulled by horses stroll to your sight, "Young lady? Ms. _____!" A voice yelled, you run to the sound. "Thank heavens-Mr. Salvatore?" Stefan's father was sitting inside, "Oh dear, what has happened to you? Come in!" You felt relieved as the sun was about to set then. If Mr. Salvatore was not passing by this route, who knows what would have happened to you. "I do not remember anything at all." You answer, your body aching of tiredness. He listens to you as his calm expression changes to worry, "Let us take you home. Your parents would have to be looking for you everywhere at this rate."
You go down the carriage as you bid your thank you to Mr. Salvatore. Heading up to the door, you notice it was open. Slowly, you called out, "Mother? Father?" you walk inside when you take in the furniture of your home greatly messed up. "Mother?! Are you alright?" You shout, searching frantically at the kitchen, and living room. The plates in the sink were broken, smithereens on the floor. Dinner was stained on the table, chicken bones half bitten. You realized you had not checked upstairs as you see your father's boots by the staircase. You run to your parent's bedroom. As you open their door, you go into shock. Your eyes wide as your jaw dropped on the floor. "No! Mother, Father!" You rush to your mother's limp body on the floor as you notice a big bite mark bloodied on her neck. Your eyes fill with tears as you try to wake her up, "Please! Don't leave me!" You turn to their bed as you follow the trail of blood, "Oh God, please no." You gently lay your mother on the floor as you stand up to find your father stabbed with a kitchen knife on his lower abdomen and a bloodied bite mark again on his wrist and shoulder. "Father! What has happened?!" You shout, bawling your tears out at the horrendous catastrophe of your family. You hold your father's shoulders, shaking him. To no avai you run to their bedroom window, opening it to call for help. "Anyone, please help me!" Your throat burned from how loud you were screaming. Your eyes avert to a figure below, your blood turned cold. The figure walked in your home. You had to hide, running frantically to close-lock your door, a foot stopped you. "Stay away!" Breathing heavily, you remembered the knife. As you turned to grab it, a familiar face appeared in front of you. "Hello again, ___." It was the woman at the Salvatore's home. Your feet froze, surprised to see her. You stay in place, speechless, "Now I did this because well, you were a hindrance at my part." She explains, smiling menacingly at you. Your face stained with tears paints an angry expression, "How could you do this?! What did you do with them?" She crosses her arms, "How? Simply with this." Unexpectedly, her mouth opened to show you her teeth became sharp at front. Veins crawling at the bottom of her now all black eyes, "This is what I did." She grips your shoulders as she leans down to bite on your neck, you cry out in pain. You try to push her away but her strength was better than yours. You felt yourself getting drained slowly. Your legs giving out, she finally finished with blood drooling on the corner of her lip. "Don't worry, I'll give you some too." You don't register her words in your head properly as you watch her bite her wrist and bring it to your mouth, squeezing your cheeks with her other hand for you to taste it. You close your eyes from the pounding agony everywhere.
"Get well soon,____." You hear barely a whisper of a voice you now despise. With your legs giving out, your head hits the floor as your body lays down with no more power to hold yourself together.

PRESENT TIME, LOCATION: THE MYSTIC GRILL.
"Elena, I never knew you played this bad at pool." Caroline teases the girl as she rolls her eyes on her dear friend's comment. "Well, you do it then." Elena answers as a young man hugs her from the back. "I think you got better than before." He says as Elena giggles at his words, "And I think you're just being nice to me, Stefan." He chuckles, leaning down to kiss her cheek before getting cut off. "Will you two cut it? It's a pain to watch you everyday." Damon says, feigning disgust on his face. The group of friends gathered around the pool table all laugh.
"What's the occasion?" A abrupt voice appears, all looking to direction of where it came from. Stefan is sure his not existing heartbeat stopped, his eyes blown wide. He couldn't believe what he is seeing right now, "_____?" Damon's eyebrows furrowed in confusion, "That is not possible, nu uh." Elena and Caroline look at each other confused. You smirk, "Toooootally possible."

7 Minutes in Heaven | Damon Salvatore
Summary: You're stuck in the prison world with Damon Salvatore, college hottie and your worst enemy. You find yourself in a steamy situation with him...
Pairing: Damon Salvatore x witch!reader
Genre: Enemies to lovers AU, Badboy!Damon, Witch!Y/n, Set in S6 in the prison world
Word Count: <1k
You walked in to the Salvatore living room to find Damon breaking off pieces of the coffee table and throwing them at the wall to create tiny explosions.
“Great” he said without turning. “It's the fun police. Look, it'll all be fixed by tomorrow. Groundhog-Yay, am I right?”
You had been trapped in this other world, forced to repeatedly relive the same day, for over three months. It didn't matter what you did, as the world was reset every day.
Damon threw another piece of wood, and it burst into flame in the air.
“Witchy?” Damon said, spinning around.
You smiled. “If you're going to self-destruct, at least do it properly.”
You flung, burned and destroyed until most of the living room was a smoking mess. Sitting in the centre of it, Damon knocked back a bottle of bourbon.
“Gimme,” you said, sitting down next to him.
“Woah,” Damon said. “This place has officially broken you.”
“Ha-ha,” you said, grabbing the bottle. You gulped down some bourbon, then coughed, pressing your hand over your mouth. “Why do you drink this stuff?” you croaked.
“You're doing it all wrong,” Damon said, taking a gulp and holding it in his mouth. “Leave it on your tongue,” he swallowed, “then feel the burn in your throat.”
You followed his instructions, then sighed with joy. “I see. My chest feels so warm I almost forget that my heart is a cold, empty pit of sadness.”
“A-ha,” Damon said. “You've finally got bourbon.” He threw the empty bottle, shattering it. “I… told Elena I never wanted to see her or hear her voice again. I crushed her. And now… I’m dead. And that's how she'll remember me.”
You nodded. “You wanna talk crappy goodbyes? The last thing that I said to my boyfriend before getting stuck here was that he was a jerk."
You both laughed, so hard that you started hiccupping.
“You're such a nerd,” Damon said. “Honestly, what did your boyfriend see in you? I've seen the guy, he's jacked. He has options.”
“Um, Elena could've had Stefan. Why the hell did she pick you?” you said.
You rested your head on Damon’s shoulder. It felt so good that you snuggled into his chest. Slowly, Damon let a hand stroke your hair and then rested it on your shoulder. It was the first time you had touched since you had arrived here. Neither of you spoke for a while, just enjoying this moment of frozen time.
You felt Damon’s eyes on you, and slowly looked up at him. He had that rare wide-eyed expression on that made him look almost gentle.
“You might be an uptight - witch, but you're a decent drinking buddy,” Damon murmured.
“You might be a self-absorbed, murderous jerk… but you're not so bad yourself,” you replied.
Damon leaned into you, his face open and questioning. You let your eyes slip shut. Briefly, your lips met. Damon was clearly a good kisser. His lips were soft and sweet, surprisingly gentle. You wondered if Damon had kissed Elena and Caroline the same way - and you quickly pulled away.
“Nope,” you said, jumping to your feet. “Nope, nope, nope.”
Damon shuddered. “The phrase - ‘not even if we were the last people on earth’ springs to mind.”
You crossed your arms, gazing into the fireplace. “Mention this to no one?”
“No one,” Damon agreed.

had a Thought about skrimm/barnabos (offhandedly mentioned very light/not plot related spoilers for eps 1 through 8)
so obviously barnabos has his thing with the woman in the shell right? calling her lover and all — it’s very clear they’re in a romantic relationship. it feels to me like it’s also kind of a warlock-patron or follower-god dynamic given her nature as some kind of otherworldly being (giving barbabos boons/abilities, appearing as fish, etc)
so imagine when barbabos catches feelings for skrimm and realizes it…how could he betray his lover, his muse, his goddess, even, like that? what would she think if she knew? she’d abandon him, certainly, and she would be justified. what is he to do? i mean, he might just be reading too deep into it and it’s just friendship. that comforts him a bit. but a part of him knows what he feels and it horrifies him. he loves the woman in the shell and devoted himself fully to her. but was that love anything more than admiration now? when had his romantic feelings for her dissipated and weakened enough to let someone else in? and skrimm, lazy slacker and sleazy conman skrimm, of all people? maybe if he can convince that nagging part of him, neither skrimm or his lover will learn of this sin, and he’ll forget all about it. he’s not sure he can. he tells himself it’ll pass eventually, as all things do and manages to believe it
and skrimm would react similarly, too. it just started as a joke by queenie and him exploiting a loophole (and barnabos’ assumption of him meaning well) to not do any work…he should’ve known to keep his guard up, to stop himself from getting too close — closer than he already was to all of them. in such a dangerous situation, attachment was a disadvantage. sticking together and being friends benefits the party, of course. more people, more skillsets, means more chances of survival. but love messes with skrimm’s head, and he’s not the smartest already — who’s to say he won’t sacrifice himself for barnabos’ sake? its a scary thought, and its even scarier that he doesn’t have a strong aversion to the idea. he has to get rid of these feelings somehow and he will figure it out…hopefully
#hngsksj#skrimm/barnabos has sooo much angst potential#i had this funky (not really) little thought and let it fester and now here we are#idk what im talking about really im not even a third of the way through icebound yet#but! it’s fun to think about#im sure this has been thought about before but i havent seen it (if anyone has read a good non spoilery skrimm/barnabos fic…….gimme)#id love to write something exploring this concept but if i drop my current fic ill never finish it#also shoutout to skrimm for being the king he is. hes dressed in practically rags but still has piercings and a fancy dagger#gayest (very affectionate of course) goblin in avantris fr#legends of avantris#icebound#skrimm stabbaskotch#barnabos the dreadwake

It's Never Your Fault- Hawkeye Pierce
Pairing: Hawkeye Pierce X Reader
Prompt: It’s all my fault.
Warnings: Angst/Fluff
Words: 727
You let out a groan as you came out of the surgical unit pulling off the white gloves that you wore, before quickly removing your mask from your face. Today was a harsh day so many wounded had come in and there was one patient too many that had come through there. One happened to be a patient you were trying to work with Frank Burns trying to save the life.
You had made one small mistake and it cost the poor kid his life in the end. Tears filled your eyes as you could hear Burns yelling at you about your incompetence. It wasn’t your fault that he had told you the wrong implement to use that would cost the kid his life in the end.
You shakily leaned against the wall sniffling as tears came to your eyes.
Hawkeye had come out of the surgical unit with a look of worry. He was concerned that you had taken a beating from Frank yelling and screaming at you. It wasn’t your fault for what had happened no matter how much Frank wanted to blame you for what had happened. “Hey, Y/N…”
You looked up at Hawkeye with tear-filled eyes.
“It’s alright.” He said coming closer to you so you didn’t have to talk too loud. He slowly put his hand on your shoulder knowing that you needed a bit of comfort after all the insults that you heard. “Frank is an asshole.”
“He’s right though…” You sniffled softly as more tears slid down your cheeks. “It’s all my fault.” You shook your head lightly. “I should’ve known which item that he needed.”
“Y/N.” He put his finger under her chin causing her to look up. “None of this was your fault. If anything it is on Frank. Look we’re all under a lot of stress and lack of sleep. But what happened today no matter what Frank says isn’t your fault. You got that?”
You sniffled looking up into his blue eyes wondering if he meant it. “You’re not just saying that to get something from me?” You questioned softly knowing that Hawkeye was a ladies' man and loved women. He would do anything to get into a woman’s pants, but this seemed genuine. That he was truly concerned about you and that was something that melted your heart a little bit.
“Of course not. I know that you want a real relationship and I am not going to mess with what you want.” He admitted softly rubbing your back. “Next time have me or BJ be the doctors that you work with to avoid what happened with Frank.”
“But Major Houlihan wanted me paired off with him.” You said softly wiping your tears from your eyes as you began to calm down.
“Well, I’ll talk to ‘Hotlips’. We’ll make sure that this won’t happen again to you. You’re a good nurse, Y/N and you’re always proving your worth.”
A small smile came to your lips.
“Now there’s that pretty smile.” He said softly his blue eyes twinkling in delight to know that he had made you feel better with what had happened. Granted it didn’t take away from the pain of losing a patient, but it was at least something that he could add to his good deed of the day. Making a woman smile was something that he enjoyed. He hated to see anyone being down when they were in this hell trying to save as many people as they could.
You let out a soft chuckle. You hadn’t expected that the ladies’ man would be someone to cheer you up. Normally you would keep to yourself when you were down and out. But this was a welcome change to your normal tactics of trying to feel better. You leaned up and pressed a soft kiss to his cheek. “Your payment for being such a gentleman.”
His lips quirked as his hand went to his cheek where you had kissed him. “I’ll take that as payment anytime Y/N.” He teased with a small smile.
You let out a soft chuckle knowing that he was either teasing or meant it. Sometimes it was hard to understand him at times, but Benjamin Pierce was certainly someone that you were going to have to keep an eye on to learn more about him.
