My life #10:
I never had any friends until highschool. Until this one girl decided to reach out to me. She wasn’t afraid of me. She actually wanted to talk to me. She was the best thing to happen to me in a very long time. She brought lots of other friends to me…but I don’t think they were actually my friends too.
They always followed her…like moths to a flame…
She always burned so bright, always the light in everyone’s life…while I was the candle, burnt from both ends, melted and beat up so much that I couldn’t even hold a flame…left all alone in the dark…
I could never hate that beautiful flame of hers though, I was never jealous, because she was the only light I had seen since I lost my brother…I just wished I could shine with her…so she wouldn’t look so bad next to a fucked up candle like me…

Looking for Ursa right after being banished had some...wildly unexpected results. One: Zuko actually found her. Two: she wasn't alone. Three: leaving her children behind in order to protect them was, apparently, just something she did.
Looking at the bright side, Zuko now had a three-year-old younger brother to look after. Looking at the dark side, Zuko now had a three-year-old kid he needed to parent while also keeping him a secret from his father because—may Agni help him—the Fire Lord would have to go through Zuko first if he dared to even look at Lu Ten II.
(AKA an AU in which Zuko is a good big brother and doesn't want another kid to grow up like he did.)
