i think what bothers me about zukka is it just feels like such a reach. it feels like a crackship that everyone treats like its not and it's everywhere. like yeah they have some interesting parallels and some funny ship-bait moments in the show, but otherwise they dont really... interact meaningfully... at all...

#also my hot take is so much of what people want in zukka they would actually find in zukaang. sorry!!!!#like sokka is a good tactician and a good fighter but hes not a people person.#meanwhile aang canonically makes friends wherever he goes #and aang canonically helped zuko realize the lessons hed been taught growing up were wrong.#plus i feel like sokka and zuko are too similar to really make it work.#like they both need someone with a bit more emotional intelligence to balance them out.#like. dont get me wrong i think theyd be very funny as idiot best friends #but nothing more than that.#anti zukka #plus like... just based on canon interactions ALONE if youre gonna ship any 2 dudes.#zuko and aang are right there. you dont even have to try!!!

augh who up feeling like they should be humanely euthanised for liking media the wrong way... sorry for fandomising certain characters but not fandomising others enough in the right way.

#ive noticed the wbg fandom has a very different way of interacting w the source media than like. dndads #both are similar in some of the fandomising of characters #specifically like funny characterisation stuff #but when it comes to more complex stuff like angst it feels like the wbg fandom approaches from a different layer #eg in dndads just a characters death is seen is sad but for wbg a lot of the time theres more to it...#an extra layer. a more complex flavour. the horrors are not just those experienced but the entire surrounding situation.#like edgars death isnt sad #i mean. its not sad in the way that referencing it in art will get any attention #but TJ's death is devastating!#with notable exceptions of course. eg innocent hunter and like everything about him #i find that i tend to approach media more stylistically and appreciating the DRAMA which i can mine for visuals #and then in my art i try to challenge myself to translate those vibes #like picking at a thread that is already present. an angst or dynamic already present and explored briefly #but wbg fandom tends to lean more towards analysis? which makes the way i engage feel a bit surface level #like in wbg fandom i dont think i can do the eqiuvalent of all my angsty glenn close art #also i just noticed. the characters in wbg are really interesting because you THINK they #wouldn't be very fandomised. that theyd be treated within the show as more like characters that exist to push the plot forward #but then certain characters act as very fandomised versions of themselves in canon #and are treated as their one trait in the qnas too!!#its like theyre almost dndads characters in this way. but without even that extra layer #the second heat that even like henry oak has! like henry's a hippie but he's also stinky and cringe and is repressing so much shit #but marissa is just explosions girl #i guess that's maybe cuz many characters in wbg arent main characters but in dndads they all are #BUT EVEN NPC HERMIE. HIS LAYERS.#very interesting

Also i find her naive desperation (cant find the right words for it) to see her adventuring crew as sworn friends wholl go thru hell together even tho shes the newest addition soooo telling. Shes had trouble making friends her whole life she was really hoping! And even the ones who left are willing to go to hell for her n the crew so its not like its not true. Its just not like how it is in her mangas. I think theres a good chance she n namari become like closer after the end of the series.

Otaku nerds of a sort #Maybe even she and shuro now that shes gotten over how angry the fact his proposal wouldve made falin leave her but that deep down she knew #her feelings werent justified bc falin can make her own decisions but she wants to believe… its not like that and hes scum thats gonna hurt #Falin to justify her anger and make it something more rational (just like what she did w laios) that shes just protecting her and has her #Best interests at heart but i think they both just mutually kind of dont like each other #not for particularly deep reasons after this they just dont vibe #Theyre both more similar than theyd like to admit as ppl who who difficulty getting along w others havent really made many close friends.#tendency for tunnel vision tje touden siblings compelling them to go into the fray and stay at things they arent particularly good at #despite their discomfort for dirty things/confrontation respectively #But i think pointing this out would jsut annoy them both #Putting up a dignified front to hide their loser tendencies (what normal ppl call being a fully realized human being)#At the end stepping up to the roles of their parents (court magician and taking an earnest shot at being the leader of his clan)#the list just goes on and on and on

hyrule warriors definitive edition was a wonderful crossover game (and i say this as someone who usually doesnt care for crossovers) and gave us so many good possibilities for interactions between characters from different games but i still feel like theres some untapped potential there. particularly with the dlc characters that ended up getting... not so much content

like i would do anything to see ghirahim and yuga (+ zant?) interact. Lately ive also been thinking abt how funny something like, say, ravio and linkle interacting would be. linkles side story was already SO fun i truly think her running into ravio wouldve made it even funnier. and cute... cuz he would totally hype up the fact that shes a hero. theyd be besties
