A group shot of Bonnie, Bailey, Kenji, Jacky, Juliet, Terrelle, and Advian as Phoenix Ranger Featherman R. Persona/Shin Megami Tensei's homage to the Super Sentai series. Specifically Chojin Sentai Jetman. I've actually been planning on posting this when I drew the core five. I just needed to figure out how I would handle the additional rangers. I chose Bonnie to be the red ranger because that's my favorite color and Bonnie is my main oc. Bailey is blue because that's his favorite color. Kenji is the Black Ranger to parallel Black Condor from Jetman. Since Gai acts as Ryuu Tendo's rival, like how Kenji acts as Bonnie rival. (Tho you wouldn't know that from the art I've drawn) Jacky is the Yellow Ranger to parallel Yellow Owl. As Raita is slightly overweight, similar to Jacky. Juliet is pink because I love drawing her avatar and I felt that the feminine nature suited her. Terrelle is the sixth ranger because I always envisioned her as that. As for why she's the White Ranger? I was going to draw her as the Silver Ranger. But the limbs were a bit unorthodox, and I liked the White and Red colors over the Silver and Gold colors. As for Advian, I wanted to draw her avatar and felt the Violet Ranger suited her.

NERD TALK PROMPT INCOMING!!!

Phoenix Ranger Featherman R. The Tokusatsu program within Persona 5.

I HAVE TAKEN THE RED PILL AND HAVE WOKEN UP IN WONDERLAND!

Show me how deep the rabbit hole goes.

Okay so first off, Featherman is an in universe Sentai series for Persona as a whole and is a homage to Choujin Sentai Jetman (the Sentai series just before Zyuranger, the show that became MMPR) as well as Science Ninja Team Gachaman. However, it appears as though Featherman is the in universe Sentai equiviliant instead of a singular team

It's a Saturday morning show, and a tokusatsu. Meaning live action with special effects being a big part of the film making process. Spercifically it is part of the Henshin Hero genre, meaning they are normal people who transform into super heroes.

We know of five distinct itterations of the franchise. Like Sentai, the team changing every year with new suit designs and weapons and mecha and stories with all you'd expect

Featherman , Featherman R, Neo Featherman, Featherman V, Neo Featherman Again

Featherman is the one most connected to the plot of the game, this being part of Persona 2 Innocent Sin where it is what the main characters bonded over as kids. You see at festivals, kids tend to buy and wear these little plastic masks. Those who played the Teal Mask DLC of Pokemon probably know what I am talking about. Well, Sentai and Kamen Rider masks are fairly common at those stands since popular characters and heroes that kids know

These be the masks I am talking about. Just super simple

We then get to Persona 3, a lot of peoples first Persona games and also the first one of the Modern Persona games. Plus, the first one where Featherman was featured (P2IS was not imported, but its sequel PErsona 2 Eternal Punishment was. Until the upgraded PSP versions which had the inverse treatment)

In Persona 3... one of the characters, who is a kid, loves the show and you can get snippets of random episodes on the TV on Saturdays

Now we have Persona 4 with Neo Featherman, the series that made more of the western fanbase knowledgeable about it because it's more in your face. Kanji and Naoto are both fans of it and in Golden, you get costumes for the characters so they dress as the Neo Featherman.

Also, Naoto's entire dungeon.

As Naoto's entire character arc is about being dismissed because of her gender and age, and having to throw away her own childhood and identity, her True Self/Hidden selfs dungeon was based off old Tokusatsu henshin hero villain bases.

Now on to Persona 4 Arena Ultimatimax. Or as it's known in Japan: Persona 4: the Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold

As this is a crossover between Persona 3 and Persona 4, we get to see the P3 cast older. And in this case.... Yukari is an actress for Featherman V acting as PinkArgus, and following the trend of a few Sentai such as Kakuranger and TimeRanger and DekaRanger she is the leader of the team

And she is kidnapped for the plot of the game in the middle of filming an episode. Also it's revealed that Mitsuru watches this show to watch her friend

And then we get to Persona 5 with Neo Featherman Again. where in Royal you can play a video game based on them and you once again

And that's the basic plot and info about Featherman as an in universe thing

Also they take great thought into which character wears what colour of Featherman suit for their costumes.

Summary:

“Sorry to ask so suddenly, are you Ken-kun? Makoto mentioned you once, I didn’t expect you to be so small.” He punctuated the comment with a laugh, holding his hand almost level with the kid’s head to emphasize what he said.

The boy – presumably Ken, since he straightened at the use of the name – perked up upon hearing he was recognized. But quickly switched to a look of annoyance at the mention of his size.

“Yes, I’m Ken Amada. Nice to make your acquaintance,” he bowed politely – Kenji didn’t expect that from a kid – and opened the door further, “you can wait inside. Yuki-san wouldn’t be happy if I let his friends sit on the steps.”

The teen could only nod awkwardly. He’d definitely offended the kid, and he really hoped that wouldn’t come back to bite him. And so he returned the bow, thanking him as he entered, and settled himself on the far arm of the couch facing the T.V.

He quickly decided he wasn’t going to open his mouth around any of Makoto’s friends ever again.

Persona 3's Weiss Schwarz Deck: For the Uninitiated

a few weeks ago, i fell into the weiss schwarz rabbit hole .. and figured that it was finally time today to share my findings ! as this is an informative post for people who are p3 fans above weiss schwarz fans ... here's the gist:

Weiss Schwarz (Weiß Schwarz, white-black in german) is a japanese TCG card game that is probably most well-known for releasing decks that tie into popular anime and game franchises, with participating titles such as Fate/stay night, Hatsune Miku Project Diva, Madoka Magica and - the most relevant to us - Modern Persona (3 - 5). The cards featured include mostly official art - such as sprites and reused promo art - but some of it's special, unique or rare cards have custom art made specifically for the deck!

The P3 deck specifically was released only in Japanese (unlike the P4 and P5 sets) but it had two unique releases: it's first 2008 release that came alongside a boxset, mat and a premade deck available for purchase, and then later rereleased in 2021 as a special backlog Chronicle set where every card was made into a shiny foil card (only 3000 of this set were ever made, so it goes for a lot now)! Fun Fact: this means that although the Chronicle boxset included every single card ever released (+ a bonus brand new one that sadly reuses FES art) it appeared to include some cards twice - because for some cards, the only difference between it and another was that it was a foil card :]c

The series name for the original release is P3/S0XX-0XX, and for the Chronicle release is P3/SC0XX-0XX !

Rpg Anon: I honestly tried my hand at figuring out what Phoenix Rangers Neo Featherman R all people from the classes would be and I seriously gave up after a bit cuz I could think up what birds and colors to give. Here's all I had:

(Side note: the canon birds plus colors don't make shit sense. Argus's aren't really pink per se. Hawks and eagles aren't really red. And so on. Some do but not all.)

Hajime: Red AND Black Phoenix. Yes that's right. Phoenix Ranger Feather Phoenix. And yes both colors. Blame Izuru. Hajime is Red Phoenix but becomes Black Phoenix cuz of Izuru. Becomes Red Black Phoenix after coming to terms with both personalities as one. Still called Feather Phoenix tho.

Sayaka: White Crane. Has to be.

Kyoko: maybe Owl. No idea about color. Yellow Owl is already take tho and yellow is reserved for the bro character. The wiki does say that Blue is reserved for the smart but young character tho.

Kazuichi: Yellow. No idea about bird.

Hiyoko: Maybe Flamingo. No idea about color.

Mahiru: maybe Pink cuz we debated about this some time ago. No idea about bird.

Sonia: also arguably Pink cuz Pink featherman is reserved for the girly character of the team and you know, "My Femininity is hella boss".

Junko: HAS to be Black and White. No idea about an evil despair bird. Only thing I could find was a somewhat holy good guy medicinal mythical bird of both Hope and Despair. No way that's Junko.

Honestly I wish I could just use Peko's love of fluffy animals and the animal ears she gave everyone to make Power Rangers.

Any ideas you have, mod?

//My personal takes on this are that Mahiru should be read and Hajime should be black, even if he does have Izuru to switch between, thag shouldn’t change his colour.

//Also, I know I’ve probably mentioned this before, but Johnny Yong Bosch, Hajime’s English Voice Actor, used to play the second Black Ranger, Adam. So it stands to reason he’s be in that role.

//Thag being said, I do agree that Junko’s outfit should be black and white.

//Alternatively, Mahiru could be pink and Hajime could be red, and in that case, make Sonia blue, Kyoko purple and Hiyoko orange. I know they’re not traditional colours for rangers but they are the ones they’re most associated with.

Now it looks like we have Phoenix Ranger Featherman joining the team. I kept getting the Phoenix Ranger Featherman in my head which is these superheroes that look a lot like Power Rangers, except it's Persona Superheroes. And I do love the song they play even in the Persona 5 DLC.

And for my A-Pal's On this Day Post

I love that Commercial video I saw on YouTube Back in 2014 when they just introduced the New Nintendo 3DS. Like I love seeing the Nintendo characters go fashion with Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. And I love Kyary Pamyu Pamyu so Much! And the same goes for my friend from Canada, Tekki. And I did a drawing of my OC dressing as a Superhero and I was thinking of redrawing him as a superhero and maybe have some of his friends join with him. Or imagine having our OCs getting fashioned by the Japanese singer herself.

Shadow R 😺🗡️: Alright, Maxwell, May and Sam. I bet we can have a lot of fun listening to Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's music. Last night was a blur. Easily one of the most strenuous nights during her tenure as the S.E.E.S field leader - bar none. The grueling pain in her body was evidence enough of that. The wild card was given the sad label of involuntary rest. Mitsuru's command being that: she would attend her classes, tend to her bonds, and continue striving to be the best student she can be.

Of course, showing up to school with bandages all over was bound to draw some attention. Couple that with the fact that Rio & Saori were overtly concerned with her health, it seems that today was going to be a difficult one.

Her initial priority was to find Sae and begin giving her a general explanation about everything going on. However, she seems to have been missing the entire day. Was she avoiding her? No, Sae didn't seem the type to just up and ditch people. At least, she hoped not.

Sae Nijima was an enigma to her. If there was one thing that her position in S.E.E.S has taught her, it was that puzzles were meant to be solved. If it weren't for the fact that she had a line of people just wanting to talk with her, she would have dedicated her time to finding her during the breaks. Once the bell rings, she is thrust back into her world of classes.

Mr. Edogawa dismisses the class for the day, and once again Kotone has made it her (temporary) life goal to find her newest Persona-wielding senpai. In fact, she devised an entire plan to maximize her search! First, the third year's classrooms. Then, the clubs. If not, the main gate. If all else failed, she figured she would just wing it and let fate do the rest.

Packing up her things, the bustle of the world seems to have come back. People were talking, others were studying, and everything just seemed to have come so... alive all of a sudden. Opening her phone, she gently declines Yuko's invite due to 'an 'important task'. A crowd begins to form around her and she immediately has to find an out. As she reaches the door of her classroom, Kotone's eyes begin to light up.

It seems that fate was on her side after all.

Waving goodbye to her 'fan club', her feet stop in place mere inches away from this totally inconspicuous woman reading... Featherman R? Noted. Stepping closer, her face is directly blocked by the book her tokusatsu loving senpai seems to be enjoying. While she definitely wasn't a master in disguise, she seemed to be getting away with it out of the sheer audacity of her play.

Autumn hues glance over Sae's fingers - the callous evident. Seems like she's the type to work hard. Slender, yet firm.

She should stop before being called out.

Her vision moves upward to where she assumes Sae's face, and softly clears her throat to try to get her attention.

" Phoenix, Phoenix, Phoenix Ranger Featherman R! " she sings, her time with Ken (thus dubbed adopted son) is clearly paying off in dividends. " It seems that I shouldn't have tried to find you today, as fate clearly led you to me, " the grease master continues. She swears she hear someone down the hall faintly yell "it should have been me, not her!". Twirling her hair, a radiant smile escapes her despite the numerous bandages on her body.

" Hi, Nijima-senpai! "

Sae Niijima couldn't pay attention to the ongoing composition lecture. She is painfully aware that she must focus, that she has to keep a close eye on the teacher — not because she believes the topic is of any importance, but to the subtle tells if they intend on putting the topic on the exam. Each teacher, from what she's noticed, has a certain unique tell and so far she's only made a wrongful assumption once.

Regardless, the ability to scrutinize and analyze is one that takes precedent over the others. Yet, despite the almost pathological need to fixate her attention on the lectures, her mind still drifts.

Recalling the flashes of the all too familiar red vest and the locks of red, it was apparent then that Sae knew both Akihiko and Mitsuru. But they too, appeared far too exhausted to have provided the future lawyer-in-the-making a satisfactory response. Besides, she was in no condition to further exert herself after leaving Tartarus that night.

That night they allowed to sleep in one of the rooms at the Iwatodai Dorms before insisting she went to the hospital for a check up — with the promise of information, of course. And thankfully, Kirijo followed through with the promise.

Still, she found herself with questions — questions that Mitsuru evidently, did not have enough time to answer; answers that would appear to open up wounds.

She should find a means to make contact with Kotone Shiomi today.

As the final class of the day concludes, Sae Niijima retrieves her belongings quickly before leaving her class briskly.

Initially, she intended on making use of the lunch period but as she descended the stairs, she found herself ambushed by a group of concerned girls from the second year. Hell, she could still hear the faint echoes of "Niijima-senpai" ringing through her mind. Needless to say, her plans were foiled; this time, she's keen on avoiding them... for her own peace of mind.

Class 2-F... Class 2-F...

When the sign comes into view, she finds herself compelled to reach into her bag for a book before she opens it and pulls the book with the Featherman R title in bright, audacious colours over her face.
