HORRID HENRY SPOILERS‼️‼️‼️
(Yes this is for my beloved nomz I’m sorry)
No looking nomz smh
Seeing Peter actually start going on the route of gifted child burnout hurts so so much man. Here’s my proof of it thus far(I have not finished the series yet);
As the show first began Peter was whiny but yk, he was happy to be around Henry and obviously looked up to him, wanting to be around him much much more.
Of course he got tricked by Henry and used by him multiple times but that was just normal for them I guess
And then their mom started pitting them against each other more, (main ex. I can think of rn is the Henry Tidies his Room episode, that had me seething tbh) and it seems that after that specific event Peter started to get much much more agitated with Henry imo.
Now around further in s2 he seems to not only be aggressive to Henry, he also plots against him much much more. Petrifying Peter is becoming real man

on tonight's episode of keys' lawrence gordon brainrot: the theory that lawrence is basically the reason strahm got out of the water cube trap. strahm was literally searched and everything on his person was removed, we literally see his stuff on a table opposite the room. everything except the pen. and gordon is a doctor, he'd know that a tracheotomy would save strahm's life in this situation. pair this with the fact that hoffman 100% intended everyone in that building to die and was quite literally surprised when strahm came out alive, i think it's a pretty plausible theory. also because of how saw 3 and 4 were linked, i feel like lawrence was around at the time too, given everything going on with lynn. so basically i will be taking this theory and running with it so fast i trip and faceplant into another rare ship that has exactly two shippers /lh

With Pavitr having been meant to choose between saving the bus or the chief, much like how Tobey McGuire's Peter was meant to choose between the bus or Mary Jane, I wonder if "chosing who to save" is another canon for all the spidey people. Are we going to see Miles have to make that choice?

CONSIDER: Shadows and Light
The Symbolism Surrounding Rhian, Rafal, and the Pan
Tumblr media
Fun fact: Under certain conditions, a flame will not cast a shadow.
As we saw in Rise, Rhian could turn into a golden glow, turn into light, his non-human form, just as Rafal could turn into a shadow.
And those facts bring me to how the Pan subplot and the brothers' main plot might parallel each other more than we may think.
That Hook had to kill the Pan’s shadow was probably no accident. It likely couldn't have been a coincidence—it has to be a casual quality of the magic system in SGE and Peter Pan lore in general, no doubt.
So, we have: killing the shadow (the Pan's or symbolically, Rafal himself).
Rhian killed the shadow to his light.
And besides, an excess of light eradicates all shadows, and fire, specifically, can cast very distorted shadows because it's always in motion, and therefore, it's restless. This could mean fire as a light source could affect the shadow's "power," its appearance, just as Rhian, like a fairy-tale Nemesis (perhaps?), might have weakened Rafal as Rhian became stronger, and that Rhian had been a force that changed or warped Rafal as a person, while also becoming colder himself. Meanwhile, Rafal's hair curled slightly and he gained more color and warmth to his complexion towards the climax of their tale.
I wonder if, in getting his magic back from Hook when it was released, Rhian had been further corrupted or overpowered enough, to overpower Rafal (while, all the while, the Storian had been stripping Rafal of the magic he held) because it didn’t dissipate by itself, with the loss of his immortality(?). Hook could have been acting like a temporary storage unit for that magic, until it returned, meaning the Storian may not have been able to rescind it from Rhian directly.
(And did Kyma release Rhian's magic when it was transferred to her? Or did it just disappear/dissolve without returning to its owner?)
Then, we can ask ourselves: what was the only move that could kill Pan? Somehow, magically killing his shadow. His life source. The apparent source of his immortality.
And, Rhian killing the source of his former immortality (his brother, and as a result, their bond along with Rafal's death)? Well, that’s killing a shadow, too.
Thus, the two plots line up exactly.
Rafal was once Rhian's shadow, in a sense, the person who stayed by him, who saved him again and again. Thus, Rhian destroyed himself, to an extent, by killing that shadow. He not only killed his life source, the love that kept him alive, by severing the twins' bond, but lost a part of his identity when he killed Rafal. Thus, he ages. Like the Pan as he died, Rhian was no longer a perpetual youth, no longer a young "lost boy."
And sometimes, Rhian's shadow strayed too far and left him (Rafal deserting the School at the start), just as Pan’s shadow isn’t always right by the Pan himself. The Pan's shadow had a life and will of its own, seemingly, like Rafal did.
Rafal getting his own life, by venturing out, beyond the School, was one step away from having his identity always tied to Rhian. Maybe, just maybe, Rafal wasn't inseparable, inconceivable without Rhian (the light source), his other half. But, Rafal always did revolve around Rhian (when Rafal had his few, less selfish moments). Because, he simply can’t be brought up or thought of alone, at least not in the tales, in their world. One brother's presence always summons the other's to mind, when you talk about them. That’s how locked together, how insoluble their combined identity was, or plural roles were. The shadow was tethered to his object. They can’t be torn apart, not even in memory, which makes the nature of the tales themselves all the more reductive, dehumanizing, even.

So confused where fandom/fic writers got this interpretation that Miles does stupid shit that doesn’t make sense or barely works out in the end or puts his friends in unnecessary danger all the time. Like in both movies the others simply underestimate him and don’t understand what Miles is doing cause he thinks like Miles, not like your everyday Spiderman. He uses his Venom Strike to throw Kingpin in the ITSV movie and literally saves Gwen and Peter because they went into battle less than ready. Then had the entire plan to lure the Spiders in ATSV, yet I keep seeing him written like he doesn’t think or gets his friends in trouble even when he understands the danger. Most of the time his different thinking has helped or led people to fix personal issues.
The first movie alone pretty much sets in stone that the exact opposite of what he wants is others to get hurt by his actions, inactions or the actions of others and trying to live up to that belief and the expectations it carries. Across the Spider-verse hammers it home with how he constantly tries to save people because that’s what he should do, rather than listen to some theory that is clearly not absolute at best and outright wrong at worst. Every fic has him being the one to cause issues and not fix them when his planning and actions literally helped save Gayatri and her father.  (c’mon we know the glitching was the spot)
Yeah, I get making him stubborn or strong willed cause he doesn’t listen all the time but usually it’s for a good and valid reason, if he listened every time he was told not to, guess how many of our beloved characters would be dead?
#cause all the times he acts rash are because hes being lied to misled or not treated like he is gonna have to be spiderman and is spiderman#first gwen with the entirety of spider society and why he couldn't come then talked over by Miguel and blamed for what he couldn't possibly#control not to mention the shoddy nature of miguels entire theory#cause if it was true 1610b earth 42 and mayday wouldnt have happened or would collaspe casue miles was never supposed to be spiderman#so many things would be going wrong if it was true#miles is pretty level headed most of the time and quick he outsmarted the guy who made the trans dimension tech for crying outloaud#he simply doesnt tell his exact plan he does it and its up to others to figure it out cause why would he narrate his plan to them#he litteraly tells miguel he just doesnt know what miles is doing in response to miguel thinking hes just running blindly even Peter & Gwen#are suprised cause the whole point of miles story is others thinking they know it and underestimating him#him being dumb and rash and naive in fics just isnt a good source of conflict especially if its post ATSV and BTSV#he is constantly stating he doesnt need to prove himself as spiderman to anyone but himself soemthing he realizes in ITSVs climax#he already knows he spiderman and be damned if hes gonna try to prove it to someone who wanted his dad to die like yall treat him like he#learned nothing Miguel made more issues by not listening to Miles about the spot like he wants to wait for him to get stronger so Miles dad#will die think about that and say Miles is rash and doesn;t think again he isnt inexperienced or naive anymore save that for Pavitr who jinx#himself and has only been spiderman for 6 goddamn months#miles morales#across the spiderverse#atsv#spiderverse#atsv spoilers#spiderman#mini rant over im actually going to sleep now

Shadows of Fear: The Death Watcher (1.4, Thames, 1971)
"I should like to have danced with you first, you know. It may sound frivolous, but I mean it. There's a certain communication involved there. Have you noticed how some couples have a much more highly developed intuition? They dance as one. There is instinctive anticipation. I used to be very good at ballroom dancing. These are my trophies. Once, I reached the county finals with a girl. Her name was Beryl Harcourt. We were completely in sympathy, you see. That's why I made her the subject of my first experiment. After she'd... gone, I used to play the gramophone in my bedroom for hours on end. We used to do a speciality tango. There's a lot of jealousy and backbiting in those competitions, you know."
#shadows of fear#the death watcher#1971#single play#horror tv#classic tv#thames#jacques gillies#peter duguid#john neville#judy parfitt#victor maddern#michael hawkins#george hagan#daphne oxenford#ann way#perhaps (if memory serves) (and it doesn't always) the closest this series comes to dipping a toe into the supernatural; but only a pinky#toe and only very very slightly. the plot is relatively old hat: a slightly mad student of ghosties and whatnot decides to test a theory#about communicating beyond the grave‚ unfortunately involving the abduction and eventual murder of an expert on ESP. as always with this#series‚ the emphasis seems to have been solely on finding strong casts over other visual concerns; still a cheap looking series with just a#couple of sets (tho it does actually manage a little location shooting). Neville‚ in one of his last uk tv appearances before his move to#Canada‚ is the unbalanced science wannabe‚ in a typically restrained and subtle (considering the character and the plot) performance#the great Judy P is his unfortunate victim and is very good but has little to do past the halfway mark except to act scared or drugged or#both. Duguid's direction is unusually showy for this series; he favours extreme closeups on eyes and mouths during key scenes of#exposition‚ adding to the general sense of uneasy weirdness around everything that's happening. the very ending is the series at#its most deliberately spooky‚ but it works; a troubling little sting in the tail of an old fashioned bit of mad science nonsense#oh and Neville's monologues near the end of the ep (part quoted above) are truly something‚ a real masterclass moment

Ok im gonna be that guy and send people over to https://www.instagram.com/art.pete.repeat?igsh=eHpzemgyang0Mjcx Peter donahue is an art teacher, and goes to conventions on color science. He has videos on different color theories and color wheels. But suffice to say RYB is still bad. Your colors are muddy if I want a punch me in the face chromatic green im gonna use a cyan and yellow. Also the opposite of yellow is indigo, not purple. He has freebie printouts on his link tree too to help with color mixing based on how colors are perceived and how pigments are known to interact. The RYB system we use today (iirc,) was made by a guy using candle light. So it leans yellow in nature. There's so many other color wheels with different purposes. And I know that that person got their degree in color, but I think their school hasn't updated things in a long time, most people haven't. Please go check out Peter donahues work, he loves colors.

[COMMISSIONS]
Can't wait for these to become outdated (more on that under the cut vvv)
But now the question is .... Who next ? Because left to my own devices I know I will eventually do Tarkin and I don't know if I am mentaly ready for a fem Peter Cushing- I will become someone else jfkdkd (and it will make me think about wlw tarkin krennic and I'm *not* ready for this level of toxic waste yuri djdjdkn there is one fanfic of this ship that weirdly fascinated me.... And now I'm picturing it as wlw- *oh no*)
But in a sense a fem Peter Cushing would go so well with dooku aka fem Christopher Lee- and anyone who knows me will know I have absolutely no problem with the Hammer movies, I have *not* whatch 37 of them (so far), and have not developed a headcanon/conspiracy theory for the dracula series that would fill plotholes from movies the like of "dracula and the seven golden vampires" kfjfkfk no that would be unhinged behavior
Anyway I've now thought about wlw Tarkrennic for the last few days and I'm sorry for what's to come fjkddk no polls this time, like France this is no longer a democratie I'm doing Tarkin (and Krennic)
PS : don't know if there was already a ship name for Dooku / Palpatine jfjfk but Dookatine sounds good to me
PPS : the tags are a fucking mess sorry fjdjdk

The Pan Soul Theory
I definitely remember Hook talking about the Pan, and telling Rafal how his sister was taken from him, and corrupted by the Pan, just because the Pan was a handsome boy, probably like the trickster villain archetype. He was too attractive and beguiling for Hook’s sister’s own good because her loyalties are now to the Pan.
Was this a throwaway line or groundwork set-up for Fall? We know the Hook name is a bloodline. But what about the Pan? Was an explanation given in Rise? If so, I don’t entirely remember it. To be eternal nemeses either requires unusual longevity, or a tradition of inheritance.
So, is the Pan an immortal being? Has there only ever been one Pan? I think that this is or will be the case.
Or, is the Pan an entity that after a long while takes on new hosts? To feed off of?
Or, is the Pan a bloodline? Or, is the Pan a bloodline with one immortal spirit of the Pan after the next, until the next immortal Pan destroys the one prior or merges with it?
Now, the theory I have is that Rafal is either consumed by the Pan, and kills Rhian (either intentionally, because he mistook Rhian for Hook, or for another reason altogether). Or, Rafal disguises as the Pan, for a certain battle strategy/desperate plan he does or doesn’t tell Rhian about, and makes a mistake, does something wrong, or kills Rhian by accident.
Or, the Pan could simply breathe Rafal’s soul, and cause general havoc, leaving Rafal’s body an empty shell of himself. (Since his soul is now mostly inhabiting a new vessel.)
Honestly, before Rise, I never thought of souls as something transferable in the Endless Woods. Imagine if they were a currency. So much could be done with that concept alone. I thought only appearances could shift by magic, so the thought of souls doing the same is interesting and dark on its own.
Or, in any case, at any point in the story, the Pan could usurp the seat of Rafal’s mind, so Rafal becomes the Pan only internally. He’d still retain his appearance as Rafal.
(If I'm right about this, by hook and by crook, call me a Seer!)
This theory is probably a reach, but some possible evidence could be:
Rafal already has clear traits in common with the Pan. Immortality and eternal youth. An association with shadows. The power of flight.
The Hort vs. Rafal (one-sided?) rivalry in TLEA could be a mirror held up to the Hook (the bloodline, not the character James Hook) vs. Pan rivalry.
There’s also Scourie, the pirate who was Hort’s father, killed by Peter Pan.
Also, I wonder if the concept/identity of the Pan or Peter Pan has evolved over time in the Woods because what is in the present-day storybooks may not match the Pan that will likely be a villain of Fall. The telling of the story could have transformed it into something else over generations, until the original version was lost. And, that would all be dependent on who survived to tell the tale. Either that, or the Storian (in the role of antagonist or divine intervention/record-keeping) twisted the tale beyond recognition.
Also, the Jolly Roger could play a part in Fall. We have already seen the Igraine and the Inagrotten, so the existence of yet another mythical ship is not too far off.
