Hello Hoomans, I have been gone for a long time, I'm sorry, I ran out of ideas for what to post. I'm just going to post a status update, though, so you know I'm still alive.
I am very much alive, but I'm not feeling so good today, I got into some of my hooman brother's friends fried fish, and it just didn't sit well with my tummy. Everything else is OK, but I frew up a few times today.
Other than that, things at my house have been pretty good, I've gotten used to mommy going to work everyday, at first I was afraid she wouldn't come back, but now I know she will, It's just takes forever, but luckily she's always home on the weekends, and sometimes she surprises me and sissy by coming home early.
As far as my behavior goes, I'm calmer on walks, but whenever sissy has me on a walk and starts talking to her friend who lives near buy, I get really mad at sissy's friend and I don't know why. I even got mad at grandpa's (mommy's daddy) friend, and tried to fight him.
Maybe it's because sissy is always nervous when we go on walks, It's hard not to feel her emotions. Whatever the reason, sissy has started putting on a collar that beeps when she uses a remote.
I don't like the beeps, so I don't try to fight people or dogs on walks anymore. And sissy somehow gets me to actually give her MY ball when we play outside by keeping the remote in her hand.
She always throws it after, and that's what I want her to do, but I just don't want her to take MY ball.
Other than that, I've been pretty good, but I seem to be very restless. I'm fine until mommy comes home, then whenever sissy is resting and spending time with mommy, I get bored and demand that sissy takes me outside and play with me, even if I don't have to go potty. Then, right when we come in, I'm ready to go back out.
Well, puzzling stuff is happening in my mind, but life has been pretty good. I trust mommy and sissy though and know they will help me.

Animal Therapy
Have you been feeling lonely, slightly depressed or anxious? Let me tell you, maybe you are not. You are just missing a pet!
Owning a pet can actually be a highly effective method of therapy, known as pet or animal therapy. No matter the age you are or difficulty you are having, animal therapy can be quite helpful for you.
This type of therapy has become increasingly popular in recent years, and is now widely used in hospitals, schools or age care facilitations. With the rise of COVID-19, the pet ownership increased significantly.
Pets are known to form a bond with humans, beneficial for both parties. They are known to reduce stress, anxiety and depression. They also provide a sense of unconditional love and support, forming a rare companionship with the owner that can boost their social confidence, quiet helpful for people who feel isolated or are struggling with loneliness. Here are some ways you can benefit from the presence of animals and where to find pets in Melbourne:
One of the most popular forms of animal therapy is use of dogs. Dogs are highly social, loyal and affectionate animals, and there are several studies that document the bond they can create with human, which got them the title of ‘human’s best friend’. Due to their level of intelligence and obedience, dogs can be trained to provide a variety of support services, such as helping people with mobility issues or providing emotional support for people with mental health disorder. If you are thinking of adopting a dog, have a look at some of the most popular Australian websites such as Rescue Pets or Savour Life. If you are not in the position to adopt a dog right now, I have a life hack for you. Go in a dog beach (Port Melbourne, St. Kilda, Elwood, Brighton) and enjoy not only a lovely walk by the beach, but also the presence of so many lovely dogs, that are having zoomies on their beach day! Another option would be to book a class of puppy yoga in Springvale or visit dog cafes and enjoy their company!
Another popular form of pet therapy is the presence of a horse, known to help individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder, also called equine therapy. There are many placed around Melbourne that offer classes to learn how to ride horses or ponies, such as Woodlands Trail Riding in Greenvale, The Equine Club in Dromana, Alan Smallacombe Trail Rides in Dandenong Ranges, and not only. Here is the link to some of the most popular horse rides in Melbourne.
Other pets that are used in therapy are cats, birds or even fish. If you love cats, you should check out the famous cat café in CBD before it closes down in June, or visit the Melbourne/Werribee Zoo and the Sealife Aquarium to see other beautiful animals.
To conclude, pet therapy can be quite a solution for your mental health. We know that life can get overwhelming and lonely at times, but there is nothing a pet cannot fix for you. Here are some doggo pictures that I took around Melbourne to make the perfect conclusion for this blog!

The Healing Power of Pet Therapy: Enhancing Well-Being with Furry Friends
In recent years, the concept of pet therapy, also known as animal-assisted therapy (AAT), has gained significant recognition in the fields of medicine and psychology. Rooted in the profound bond between humans and animals, pet therapy involves the use of trained animals to improve an individual’s emotional, physical, and mental health. Whether it’s a cuddly dog, a calm cat, or even a gentle horse, animals have a remarkable ability to bring comfort, reduce stress, and foster healing.
What Is Pet Therapy?
Pet therapy is a guided interaction between an individual and a trained animal, facilitated by a professional therapist or handler. The goal is to improve a person’s well-being, which might involve reducing anxiety, boosting mood, or even aiding physical recovery. The therapy can take place in various settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, schools, or rehabilitation centers.
Some common forms of pet therapy include:
Therapeutic Visitation: Pets visit individuals in settings like hospitals or care homes to offer comfort and companionship.
Animal-Assisted Therapy: Animals assist therapists in achieving specific goals for patients, such as improving motor skills or addressing psychological trauma.
Facility-Based Therapy: Resident animals in facilities provide ongoing emotional support to occupants.
Benefits of Pet Therapy
1. Emotional Support
Animals have an innate ability to provide nonjudgmental companionship. Interacting with a therapy pet can reduce feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and depression, making it particularly beneficial for individuals with mental health challenges.
2. Physical Health
The act of petting or playing with animals can lower blood pressure, improve cardiovascular health, and reduce cortisol levels. For patients undergoing rehabilitation, activities like walking a dog can also promote physical exercise.
3. Improved Social Interaction
Pet therapy encourages communication and social engagement, especially for individuals with autism, dementia, or social anxiety. Therapy animals act as social catalysts, helping people feel more comfortable in group settings.
4. Stress Reduction
Spending time with animals has been shown to release oxytocin, a hormone linked to happiness and stress relief. This is why therapy pets are often brought into high-stress environments like workplaces, disaster zones, or schools during exams.
5. Cognitive Stimulation
For children and seniors, particularly those with cognitive impairments, interacting with therapy animals can enhance focus, memory, and problem-solving skills.
Who Can Benefit from Pet Therapy?
Pet therapy can be beneficial for people of all ages and backgrounds, including:
Children with developmental disorders, such as autism or ADHD
Elderly individuals experiencing loneliness, Alzheimer’s, or dementia
Patients recovering from surgery or illness, as it can speed up recovery
Veterans dealing with PTSD or emotional trauma
Students and professionals in high-pressure environments seeking stress relief
Popular Therapy Animals
While dogs are the most common therapy animals due to their friendly nature, other animals such as cats, rabbits, horses (equine therapy), guinea pigs, and even birds are used in therapy. Each animal is selected and trained based on its temperament, behavior, and ability to interact positively with humans.
How to Get Started with Pet Therapy
If you’re interested in pet therapy, here are a few steps to consider:
Contact a Professional Organization: Look for certified pet therapy programs in your area. Organizations like Pet Partners or Therapy Dogs International provide training and certification.
Understand the Requirements: Therapy animals must meet specific health and behavioral standards to ensure safety and effectiveness.
Consult with Healthcare Providers: If you’re considering pet therapy for yourself or a loved one, talk to a doctor or therapist to discuss its potential benefits and applications.
Conclusion
Pet therapy is more than just a comforting presence; it is a transformative experience that brings immense physical, emotional, and psychological benefits. The unconditional love and warmth of animals remind us of the simple joys in life and the power of connection. Whether aiding recovery or simply brightening someone’s day, therapy pets continue to prove that healing can come with a wagging tail or a gentle purr.
By embracing pet therapy, we not only enrich the lives of those in need but also celebrate the remarkable bond between humans and their animal companions.
Thank you for reading.

I really miss Mommy, she started working yesterday. She got to come home yesterday and today for lunch, but she won't get to come home for lunch for the rest of the hooman school year. (She works at a tiny human school).
And my 12 year old hooman brother starts school tomorrow, so I'll only be with sissy. I love sissy, but I miss mommy I have just been sitting staring at the door waiting for her to get home. It feels like forever.
She's so nice to me and let's me sleep in her hed, and give me kisses and tummy rubs and she cleans my eyes when there's stuff in them.
I'll miss brother too, even though he doesn't let me in his room or share his yummy smelling food with me (sometimes I sneak in anyway).
At least I have sissy. She's been gone at night taking care of grandma who is hurt, but she always comes back in the morning to take me on walks and spend the day with me. But then she goes back to grandma's at night. At keast that's where she tells me she goes.
What do you hoomans do during the day? Work? School?, something else, do you miss your fur babies when you leave the house like mommy and sissy do? Or if you don't do anything like me, what do you do when your other hoomans leave to do their out of the house stuff? Do you miss them? I know I ask a lot of questions, I just want to learn more about the hoomans who like my blog, and I want to create more chances to interact with you all.
