October Witch Tip #3

October is the month of the year when the energies urges us to continue declutter our lives – physically, emotionally, spiritually.

It’s also a great time to work with ancestral magic, divination and ambition magic.

October is the most magical time of the year, as we approach the pagan sabbat Samhain (October 31st).

Samhain is a day of powerful intuitive wisdom and an opportunity to connect with spirits and ancestors. It’s also the perfect time to align with our witchy sides, because October, Samhain, and Halloween is the season of the witch – the time when our magic and intuitive powers are easiest to access.

I thought that I would for this month share some tips on how you can practice during this month.

Tip #3 - Altars

Anything that is a belonging of your deceased loved one.

Liquor/Beer (If they had alcohol problem then don’t offer them this)

Cigars/Cigarettes (If they were trying to quit, then don’t offer them this)

Crystals/Crystal skulls

Small plant

Food offerings

Ancestors money or money from their time

Written letters

Perfume

Mints/Candy

Statues/Deities/Religious items

Stuffed animals (this can work with children who have passed)

Pet Altar

So yesterday I set up a little ofrenda for my kitties, and I lit a little mini blue taper candle and put it on top of my altar, above the ofrenda. I went to play video games and forgot about the candle for about 5 hours.

When I remembered, I dashed out to blow it out, only to find all evidence of the candle having existed gone. There's no spilled wax, no wax in the little holder, no remaining wick, nothing.

So my question is, is this a good or a bad sign? Yes, the candle was put on my altar, closest to Lucifer's candle, but I wouldn't think they'd be angry and remove it right?

I live alone, my altar is unreachable by my animals, and the candle holder was completely unmoved. It's like the candle just vanished into thin air.

Dead tired. Altar to honour death and all of brings.

Making ofrendas is nice.

Cooking for the dead is nice.

Praying to the dead and talking as if they are still with us is nice.

Celebrating the dead is nice.❤️

What's not nice is not respecting the ofrendas.

It's not nice to eat the food left out to the dead.

And it's especially not nice to think us crazy when we would rather celebrate death and do what we do as a culture.

Please respect the alters left for the dead. Pass it on to those who don't know not to be eating the food in the ofrendas. It's for the dead beloved for when they come to visit they can take it with them.

i have four altars. they all serve different purposes.

^^ this one is my Main Altar - it serves as my sacred space. it is where i practice magick, do my spell work, and leave offerings for spirits and other entities i don't have specific altars set up for due to not having the space.

^^ this is an altar i had set up a while back for Scrooge McDuck - someone i view as a spirit of adventure. his altar is covered in coins (bc he loves money) and various items that had been collected during an adventure of my own. (as well as a few Scottish and celtic related things as Scrooge is a v proud Scottish duck.) i have yet to do more than just set up an altar for him, but this will work just find.

^^ and these are my other two altars. the top one is an altar created to honor the ocean and the bottom is an altar honoring my lost pets.

some witches have more than one altar which may be used for different purposes. these are mine. hope you enjoyed learning abt this!
