Saw a certain set of panels again and of course Batman carries lollipops. He remembers being eight or nine and sitting alone in an alleyway while cops cordoned off the place his parents died, half of them avoiding him because they didn't know what to say or do until Gordon came by and put his coat on Bruce. So Bruce carries small things of comfort because you never know. And sometimes when his own kids were younger and having panic attacks the lollipops were enough flavour for someone to focus on.

“That’s enough.” The words were only a murmur, but once again held the unyielding baritone he’d employed during her earlier panic attack.

Lorne’s eyes grew half-lidded and glassy, like fog had replaced the earlier storm. She leaned into his grasp, facing growing red and warm.
