How to Style a Bookshelf for Kids: Fun Tips and Tricks
Designing an attractive and functional storage for kids' books helps turn a plain room into a magical kingdom that children will enjoy. A well-designed bookshelf not only holds the cherished tales of children but ensures that they cultivate good reading habits and complements the room spaces. If you are on the quest to make the ideal kids' bookshelf table , here are some simple hacks from Adona that will make the design both aesthetic and functional.
Choose the Right Bookshelf
The most important factor in styling a kid's bookshelf is: choosing the right piece of furniture. The first step considers the space allocated for the bookshelf. Try searching for bookshelf options that are down to the ground making it easy for small children to reach them. Offering a range of modern and stylish study table with shelf which are strong, Adona. Adona provides a range of attractive children’s bookshelves that are guaranteed to hold children’s attention while their imagination is in full swing.
The Book Classification System
Categorization proves to be very useful when it comes to placing the books on the kid's shelf. Place books according to categories, such as their theme, shades, shapes and many others. You may have a section for novels, story books and research books. A lovely alternative is that they can also do colour coding. This not only makes it simple for children to locate their best titles and become bored with everything else, it also motivates openness to other kinds of literature. The use of Adona’s unique bookends should help achieve this without making the shelf messy.
Pick some Fun Decorative Elements for the Bookshelf
The ‘kids bookshelf’ is not only about books. Incorporate non-book items such as toys, frames for pictures or wall hangings and also plants to enhance the shelving. Have a creative fusion of these pieces to trigger creativity and make the shelf more appealing. For example, you may place stuffed toys beside books that are fat and beautiful, and place the artwork done by the child in a beautiful designer frame. The beauty is, Adona also sells decorative pieces that you can use together with the bookshelves.
Add Interactive Features
If you want to get the kid's bookshelf to the next level, make sure to incorporate some interaction. It could be something basic like a chalkboard space where kids write the names of their favourite typings or even a small cosy corner for reading with cushions. Place a few such interactive toys and games on the shelf to motivate the kids to pull them out and read their books. Adona provides interesting accessories which when placed on the shelves can lead to an expedition for the children.
Ensure Ease of Rotation of the Books
Since the children’s interests change from time to time, it is wise to consider changing the books that are put up on the kid's bookshelf every two or three months. Leave the most favoured children’s books up, however, populated smothering to ensure the board is not flat. This encourages the children to find even old books that they have already read and those that they have not. If you have seasonal books, such as books that tell of Easter or Christmas, this comes as a perfect way to bring such books into the rotation. Adona has seasonally appropriate curated book sets to inspire you more on the seasonal book.
Make it personal
It’s always a good idea to find ways of personalising the kid's bookshelf. Parents should also add those books which are favourites among the children or have family values or stories that their kids like. Custom items, such as nameplates or family pictures, can be incorporated into the bookshelf to further personalize it. This makes the bookshelf a solution to display the character of the child and not merely a place to put away books.
Cozy Up A Space With A Reading Nook
If there is additional space, it will be a good idea to make a reading nook next to the kid's bookshelf. For children and young siblings who love to get lost in storybooks, even a single, good height chair or a bean bag, soft carpets, and bright and warm lighting can be all the furniture that is required to make them curl up with a book in there. Such an area creates time to read and also offers a place for creativity and imagination. Adona has other chairs that match children’s bookshelf which is also very good to use.
Engage the Children
Last but not least, include your kids in the styling. Give them the freedom to pick the books which should be made visible and the order they are to be arranged in. This not only helps them get more attached to the reading materials but also instils a sense of order and beauty in them. They also invite their opinion on the order that the decorative items should follow. Their enthusiasm will in turn make the process enjoyable and purposeful. Consider arranging your books in the Adona Mystica Open Bookshelf with a Wooden Retainer.
Conclusion
Decorating a children's bookcase offers yet another opportunity to introduce bright colours into the environment and associate the whole space with the enjoyment of reading. With these tips and tricks, you can transform a simple bookshelf table into an eye-catching element in your child’s room. With the proper selection of an Adona bookshelf the right division of the collections, and the additional layer of fun decorations and creating a special reading area, your kids will be excited to tackle new stories and spark their imaginations. So treat your kid's bookshelf like a swan lake filled with tucks and tucks of imagination.
FAQs
Q1. What kind of bookshelf is good for kids?
Ans: For kids, the most usable bookshelf should be low, easily accessible, solid as well as appropriate to their structure. One should look out for more appealing designs like those of Adona which are especially playful and focused on the children.
Q2. How do I arrange the books on my child’s bookshelf?
Ans: You may classify your child’s bookshelf in several different ways which include segregation of books by the type, color of the book or size of the book. You might want to employ other tools such as bookends to arrange things so that they look nice and even make sense. You may also rotate books to maintain the interest of the readers in the books.
Q3. What furnishing items can I use to decorate my kids ' bookshelf?
Ans: Some of the decorative items for children’s bookshelves may include toys, artworks in frames, small pots with plants, or even family pictures as the child will personalize the shelf. Using Accessories from companies like Adona is also fun and adds more character to the shelf.
Q4. How often should I update the books placed on my child’s bookshelf?
Ans: Changing the books on your child’s bookshelf after some months would be a good gesture. This action will provide a fresh selection which will also help during periods when children rediscover long-lost favorites while seeking new ones, particularly books that go with the changing season.
Q5. What should I do to make my child use their bookshelf often?
Ans: Let the children take part in the styling and arrangement process by selecting which books should be kept for display on the shelf and their positioning. Making a quiet reading area around the housing and making the bookshelf attractive images can also encourage them to use their books more frequently.

A Christmas Adventure (Apple II) Developed/Published by: Chartscan Data, Inc. Released: 12/1983 Completed: 11/12/2023 Completion: Couldn’t get Rudolph to drink his bloody milk.
Well, it’s been two years since I thought I’d “have a look at the earliest Christmas games” and I managed to play… one of them. And then last year I was sick for most of December so I didn’t really play anything other than tapping miserably at Marvel Snap. But I’m back, baby!
First up, I owe almost all understanding of this game to Joe Pranevich over at The Adventurer’s Guild who has written an insanely detailed post on it which I highly recommend reading, but I’ll summarise some of the findings here.
A Christmas Adventure is generally considered online to be the second Christmas-themed video game ever released commercially, following the somewhat bizarre Santa’s Sleigh Ride, but I’ve since discovered that there’s several ZX Spectrum games with a 1983 date (including one, potentially lost media, called A Christmas Adventure as well???) so there’s probably more out there for like… the Dragon 32 and shit. But let’s talk about this one anyway. What makes it more interesting than just potentially being the second Christmas-themed video game ever is that it isn’t just, as you might expect, a Christmas cash-in, but an attempt by a French Canadian fellow named Frank Winstan to make video games that acted as greeting cards. Mind how for a while personalised children’s books were all the rage, and you got this crappy book where a jpeg of your child’s face was awkwardly stuck on the main character? Like that basically, with the idea that they’d start with this Christmas “card” and then do… well probably Easter, and then branch out to like… “Happy 43rd Birthday: the adventure” or “Sorry Your Grandma is Dead: the adventure” I guess!
Unfortunately (or not) due to time pressures they never quite managed to get the company off the ground, with this selling poorly its first Christmas, although Winstan would continue to work on it through 1986(!) updating and improving it. As far as I know, I’m playing a version from the same era ion Pranevich did, which seems to be a later version than the one you can watch on Youtube.
Anyway. A Christmas Adventure is an early graphical text adventure; originally released in 1983, it would be contemporary with the very end of Sierra’s Hi-Res Adventure line before they’d go on to make the more sophisticated King’s Quest, and surprisingly, very few other examples, making this… sorta cutting edge?
What does feel cutting edge actually is the opening cinematic, which you have to flip the disk to see, which includes an animation where you fly to Santa’s Ice Palace. Sierra’s Hi-Res Adventures have insanely terrible art (well, apart from Dark Crystal I’d say, which has a near stained-glass window approach) so getting something that generally looks like it’s had a bit of effort put in is rather nice.
Telling that classic story, “Santa’s been kidnapped and only YOU can save him” after the intro you’re dropped in his house and have to wander about picking things up and using them to save him. I very quickly hit the issue that has stopped me bothering to play any of Sierra’s early output: the parser is terrible. Doing literally anything is a nightmare, and I will fully admit I had to use Pranevich’s article to walk me through the game, and he had to hex edit it just to understand how to solve it!
It’s confusing, because this is a commercial concept based on greetings cards. Now, I imagine nowadays you can probably get “escape room” greeting cards where you have to like, solve a fucking cypher or whatever to see something that says “We’re getting divorced” (and if there isn’t, I should get on that) but in general, if you’re giving someone a gift like that you want them to… enjoy it? I really assumed that this would be very simple. You know, for kids. I mean you’re saving SANTA. Not Santana (ft. Rob Thomas) which would of course be for cool adults only.
I suppose I’ve said it before, but maybe people in 1983 were made of sterner stuff; less likely to give up. I guess some puzzles in this are easy, like dressing up like Santa to fool his safe, or the disk that tells you the password right on it (Santa’s Jewish???) But then like… there’s a time machine. And there’s just so much wrestling with the parser to get anything done. Typing “HELP” gives you a list of words that the parser understands which is, 100%, a lie, because almost all the words don’t work.
Ultimately, it’s the reason I couldn’t finish this. In his article, Pranevich was able to feed Rudolph, but despite having stuck the “was’bask+mlk” in the fireplace I could not feed him. I went through every possible thing I could imagine, really tried to get Martin Luther King out of that was’bask, but I’m starting to believe the archive.org version of this is just bugged. It is what it is, and I watched the ending on youtube (and for good measure used the HELP to see the message as well.)
Feels a bit harsh to say this isn’t good despite the fact it it is, er… not good, just because it’s an interesting attempt at something that just seems to have come at the wrong time and with some rather wrong-headed ideas about how challenging it has to be. Also: it didn’t make me feel christmassy at all!
Will I ever play it again? I have a save. If anyone can tell me what to type to get Rudolph to eat I’m making that bastard eat.
Final Thought: It’s worth noting that you can really feel the developers–at least Frank Winstan?--cared about this project because it’s full of little touches. I love that Santa has a poster of Bob and Doug McKenzie’s backdrop up (as Canadian a reference as you’re going to get) and there’s non-sequiturs like Pac-Man showing up for a hot minute.

Picturesque UK Breaks to Take This Winter
Getting away with your loved ones for a winter break can be an exciting idea. From decorations and dinners to local attractions and festivities, exploring the UK in winter can give you some of the best and most beautiful chilly days out. So pack up your woollen gloves and windproof umbrella, and head out to a new location in time to enjoy the chilly weather and upcoming activities. Here we will explore the four best places in the UK for you to visit this winter, according to Planet Ware, and what you can do there in the coming months. Edinburgh, Scotland Whether you are looking for a beautiful scenery, a mix of city life and seaside, or a Harry Potter-inspired winter trip, Edinburgh is the perfect place to visit. If you are looking forward to seeing some fantastic foliage and creative lighting designs, then you can visit Edinburgh’s Royal Botanic Gardens. This is a fantastic way to get lost in the winter spirit, whether with your partner, parents, or children – people of all ages can enjoy the range of beautiful designs Edinburgh has to offer. And why not enjoy some Scottish festivities during the winter too? If you fancy a winter break after the Christmas rush, celebrating Burns Night might be the best chance to experience some Scottish culture in the cold. Taking place on January 25th each year, you can enjoy some wintertime activities with you family outside of the Christmas period. York, England Another beautiful location for you to try during your winter downtime is the scenic and historic city of York. And what screams winter and warmth like chocolate? York’s Chocolate Story can show you the process and history behind your favourite chocolate bars, give you a taster or some delicious cocoa and see you make your own personalised creation – making it the perfect day out for all the family and any chocolate lovers! York also hosts the perfect attraction for the Harry Potter fans in your family. The Shambles, from which the film’s version of Diagon alley was supposedly based, is a Medieval side street full of local shops – including some Harry Potter-themed locations which sell merchandise from the books and films, as well as wizarding world-inspired drinks and more. York’s centre boasts a network of rickety old-time streets, so you can travel through time and fantasy as you explore. Isle of Skye, Scotland If you fancy somewhere a bit more remote, then why not try the Inner Hebrides for a few days? This can be a winter wonderland of moody coastal views, castles, and more. This is the perfect retreat for a family wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of busy city life for the new year. With the stunning view of Eilean Danon Castle, you can stay inside a beautiful holiday cottage with a warming hearth. This is the perfect escape for anyone looking to ditch their technology for a bit of a detox over the winter period. The Cotswolds, England For picturesque English countryside and scenic, historic villages, the Cotswolds could be the perfect location for your winter getaway. You could stay in anything from a small cottage to a manor hotel, all while enjoying views of stonemasonry and rolling hills. For those looking for a romantic break, you could consider activities such as afternoon tea, or even gin and whisky tasting. Or families might consider having fun in the countryside snow, building snowmen and sledding on the hillsides. Whether you are looking for a romantic get away for two, a family retreat, or a digital detox, there are some incredible places you can visit across England and Scotland this winter season. From famous races to stunning views and chocolate history, you can go into the new year experiencing new things. Blended Family
Word Count: 3,187 Demetri x OC - Part Six Warnings: Fluff
December came round quickly and Sophie got excited as she loved Christmas and was looking forward to her first Christmas with Demetri and their children. “Do you celebrate Christmas Dem?” Sophie asked “Yes, we celebrate Christmas but probably not in the way that you do” He replied “What do you mean?” “We do Secret Santa every year, it was introduced by one of the secretaries a few decades back” He replied “What about a tree?” “Heidi puts one up in the family room every year. We put the gifts under the tree. How do you celebrate Christmas?” “We put up a tree every year and decorate it and place the wrapped gifts beneath it. We also put up decorations to make our homes look festive” She replied and he smiled at her “I was hoping we could celebrate Christmas this year as it’s our first one together as well as Nico and Ellie’s first Christmas.” “That sounds like a plan cara mia. How can I help?” He asked as he stepped closer, wrapping his arms around her “We need to decide whether to get a real or fake tree and choose a colour scheme for our decorations. Then there’s the shopping of Christmas gifts for the children” She answered looking up at him “What about gifts for each other?” He asked before leaning down and pressing his lips to hers “I’d like to buy you some gifts too” He kissed her again “Ok, but we have to set a limit on the money we spend on each other and the children” She replied before pulling him down for another kiss “I’m making no promises mi amore” He replied smiling and she shook her head smiling.
Following a discussion where they weighed the pros and cons of a real tree vs a fake tree, they decided to buy a fake tree. Demetri bought a large fake tree for his Sophie’s room along with blue and silver decorations to match the colour scheme Sophie suggested. Sophie also hung a wreath on their door, decorated to match their tree colours. Demetri bought a smaller tree for the children’s room after Nico said he liked looking at the lights on the tree of an evening, that tree also followed Sophie’s colour scheme at Nico’s polite request.
Sophie and Nico went shopping for gifts for Demetri and Ellie, leaving Ellie with Sulpicia and Anthenodora as Demetri was on guard duty with Felix and the twins. During their shopping trip they purchased stockings to hang on the fireplace along with some personalised tree decorations; Nico’s chosen decoration was two snow people, as he called them. One wore a blue scarf and hat and the other wore a pink scarf and hat. Nico and Ellie’s name were written above the snow people’s hats. Sophie also bought two baubles and had them personalised too: one saying ‘Nico’s 1st Christmas’ and the other ‘Ellie’s 1st Christmas’. “Nico you can’t tell daddy or Ellie what gifts we have bought them ok?” Sophie asked Nico softly “I promise mummy, it’ll be our secret” He replied smiling “Good boy.” They made their way to a coffee shop for a short break; They had a hot chocolate and a gingerbread man each “I like the gingerbread man mummy, thank you” “You’re welcome sweetie and I’m glad you like them.”
Demetri returned from a shopping trip a few days later with a personalised decoration for him and Sophie; his one was a couple in winter clothes with their names written above their hats. He also bought his Secret Santa gift for Jane; a MAC make-up set along with a few gifts for Sophie and Nico.
Sophie had explained to Nico who Father Christmas was and what happens on Christmas Eve and Nico seemed really excited so Demetri decided to take Sophie and the children to Volterra’s Christmas market one Saturday afternoon, knowing that Santa and his reindeer were there. “Look daddy it’s Santa” Nico said excitedly “So it is” Demetri replied smiling “Now I know why you wanted to come to the market today” Sophie said low to Demetri “He seemed interested in Santa after your talk and I thought he might like to visit Santa’s Grotto. I know it’s a human thing as it happens here every year and I plan on bringing Ellie when she’s old enough to understand about Santa” He replied as they joined the queue. Nico sat on Santa’s lap “Hello, I’m Santa. What’s your name and what would you like for Christmas this year?” “Hello, I’m Nico and I’d like a train set please, like the one in my story book” Nico replied with a smile “I think I can do that. Is that all you want for Christmas?” Santa replied “I’d like to ask for something for my sister Ellie too, if that’s ok?” Nico asked politely and Santa nodded “Of course, what would she like?” “A new teddy bear please as she really likes them” Nico replied pointing over at Ellie “Of course I can do that. You are a very good big brother” Santa told him “Thank you and Merry Christmas Santa” Nico said as one of the Elves stepped forward and handed Nico two gifts “One for you and your sister” “Thank you Mr Elf.” Demetri and Sophie couldn’t help smiling at their son “He’s so thoughtful and polite. I love him so much Dem” “I know, me too.”
Sophie and Nico bake Christmas cookies and cupcakes in the week leading up to Christmas, Gianna liked eating the treats as the only other human in the castle. Demetri tried a cupcake and a cookie too “Daddy, look at what mummy and I made” Nico said looking at Demetri, showing him the festive treats. “Why are you eating those D?” Felix asked looking confused as he entered the kitchen “It’s Christmas Felix and Sophie and Nico spent a lot of time making and decorating them so I thought I’d try one of each” He replied looking at his mate and son, whilst Ellie sat on his lap putting her fingers in the frosting and licking them “I think the little one approves” Felix says nodding at Ellie.
Demetri sat watching his mate and son start to build a gingerbread house and began to get lost in his thoughts; thinking about how much he loves Sophie and is happy she’s human and that she nurtures Nico’s human side. He hopes she continues to do so after her change and when even Nico’s grown up, as there is plenty of time to nurture his vampire side in the future. He also felt grateful to have a daughter too, one that he can give immortally to when she’s old enough. “Penny for them Demi” Sophie said smiling, pulling him from his thoughts “Hmm, oh yeah…I was just thinking how lucky I am to have Nico and to have met you and Ellie and I am looking forward to spending forever with my family” He replied smiling “Aww Dem” She replied, her eyes getting a little teary “I’m lucky that Ellie and I got to met you and Nico too and I’m also looking forward to spending forever together as a family” She stepped beside him and leant down to kiss him, Nico giggled at the sight as Demetri wrapped his arm around her waist. “I love you Dem” “I love you too.”
They woke up the day before Christmas Eve to see that it had snowed overnight and Sophie decided to wrap herself and the kids up and go play in the snow in the garden below their room “I need to wrap up you warm sweetie, so we can play in the snow and build snowmen” Sophie said to Nico as she wrapped a scarf around him and helped him put on gloves. Ellie was all wrapped too, even though she couldn’t play in the snow. They had been outside for about half an hour when Demetri joined them “So what are my three favourite people up to?” He asked “Mummy and I are building a snowman” Nico answered before looking over at Ellie “And Ellie is eating the snow” He added chuckling “Oh hunny, don’t do that” Sophie says softly but Ellie ignores her. Demetri sits beside Ellie on the blankets and lifts her onto his lap in an attempt to stop her eating the snow “I have an idea princess” He says low and scoops up some snow and shapes it into a ball before throwing it gently at Nico’s back “Oi” Nico says as he turns around to look at his dad and sister “It was Ellie” Demetri replies pointing to her and Ellie just smiles and starts babbling “Of course it was daddy” Nico replies. Demetri throws one at Sophie next “I suppose Ellie threw that one too?” She asked “Nope that one was me” He smiled at her before looking down at Ellie and talking to her. Sophie and Nico threw snowballs at Demetri and as they made contact some of the snow fell onto Ellie who just laughed and tried to eat it. Sophie showed Demetri and Nico how to make snow angels and Demetri laid Ellie down in the snow and made one for her too.
After a few hours of being outside they went back to their shared room and Demetri bathed the children whilst Sophie made herself and Nico a hot chocolate, warmed a bottle of milk for Ellie and grabbed a blood bag for Demetri “So you don’t feel left out” She says to Demetri as the four of them get comfortable on the sofa to watch Christmas movies. “Thank you letting me play in the snow mummy, I had fun” “I’m glad sweetie, I had fun too” Sophie replied as she pulled Nico into her so they were cuddled up “We had fun too, didn’t we princess?” Demetri said and Ellie babbled a reply before yawning and snuggling into her dad for a nap.
Sophie prepared a Christmas Eve box for Nico and Ellie consisting of a new pair of pyjamas each with fluffy socks. She also bought personalised Christmas story books; one for Nico and Ellie as it’s their first Christmas. Both stories feature Demetri, Sophie, Nico and Ellie, the only difference being the story itself.
Sophie gets Nico to leave out a glass of milk and some cookies for Santa and a carrot for Rudolph. “You know you’re eating this stuff, right?” Demetri whispered low to Sophie so Nico couldn’t hear him “You’re helping too Dem” She replied. “Can we do this every year whilst Ellie grows up too?” “Of course, we can buddy” Demetri replies smiling before putting Nico in bed and reading him a story.
The following morning they wake up to see more snow has fallen overnight “I love a white Christmas Dem” “Me too, especially as I have a family to celebrate it with now” He kissed her “Merry Christmas Sophie” “Merry Christmas Dem” She replied kissing him back.
Once the children were awake and had breakfast they sat around the tree in Demetri and Sophie’s room and began opening their gifts “I think someone went overboard” Sophie says looking her mate “It’s their first Christmas ever, our first Christmas together and as a family. I wanted to spoil you all, so I did” He replied smiling “Thank you, it’s much appreciated” She replied and Nico nodded. Nico received a trainset, building blocks, colouring books with crayons and pencils and some new clothes. Ellie received some books that were specifically for children of her age, some clothes, and a brown coloured Build-a Bear dressed as a princess, Ellie squeezed the teddy to her front and upon doing so it spoke “I love you always” She looked confused her as she heard her daddy’s voice but his lips didn’t move; Sophie and Nico smiled knowingly as Ellie squeezed her teddy again and it repeated “I love you always” in Demetri’s voice. She looked between her teddy and Demetri before being scooped up into his arms “Yes, that’s my voice in your new teddy. That way I can tell you I love you even when I am away for work” He told her softly, kissing her head “That’s really sweet Dem” Sophie told him “I can call you and speak to you and Nico, I can’t do that with her yet” He replied “Aww, Daddy’s gone soft” Nico said teasingly, causing Sophie to laugh, Demetri growled low playfully, Ellie turned to look at him confused “Yes Ellie, daddy can growl, but never at you” He told her “Daddy hasn’t gone soft buddy, trust me. It’s just you three mean everything to me and I want you all to know that” He said looking between Sophie and his children. “Here buddy, this is for you too” Demetri says handing Nico a large gift, inside was a brown coloured Build-a-Bear dressed as a vampire “Give its paw a squeeze” Nico did as his dad told him and he heard Demetri’s voice “I love you buddy” “Thanks daddy” Nico said giving him a big hug “You’re welcome” He kissed his son’s head.
Demetri opened his gifts, receiving clothes, hair products, bath bombs, a ‘World’s best daddy’ mug from Nico and Ellie and some new crime and thriller books. Sophie opened her gifts, receiving clothes, a leather jacket, bath bombs, a ‘World’s best mummy’ mug from Nico and Ellie as well as jewellery. Demetri handed Ellie to Nico before moving closer to Sophie “Here, you missed one” He passed her a gift bag and when she opened the little black box inside she saw a white gold diamond ring, Demetri took her hand in his “Sophie, I can’t give you a big white wedding as I’m not human but I want to exchange rings with you whilst we make a promise to always love and care for one another…I’m asking if you will spend forever with me by my side as my best friend, my soulmate…as my wife?” He placed the engagement ring on her finger “Yes” She replied low, tears falling “You made mummy cry” Nico says as he slaps Demetri’s leg “These are happy tears sweetie” Sophie assured Nico “Sorry daddy” “Don’t worry buddy, I was worried there myself, I didn’t expect mummy to cry either” Demetri replies and pulls Sophie onto his lap, wrapping his arms around her “I love you Dem” She kissed him “I love you too”
Everyone noticed the diamond ring on Sophie’s finger as soon as they entered the family room for Secret Santa “Oh my god, look at the rock on Sophie’s hand” Chelsea called out grabbing her hand “It’s beautiful” Heidi added “Congratulations to you both” Aro said shaking Demetri’s hand. Sophie told their friends how Demetri had proposed, including how Nico slapped him and told him off because Demetri’s proposal had made her cry “Oh, he’s so sweet and protective of his mummy” Jane said smiling over at Nico, who was sitting with Ellie and Alec.
Sophie received a €40 Boux Avenue gift card from her Secret Santa “You’re welcome” Heidi said low, winking at her, Sophie blushed slightly. Demetri received a pair of black leather gloves and a shot glass from his Secret Santa “I hear having two kids under the age of one can be stressful” Santiago said smiling as Demetri looked at the shot glass with a confused expression “I’ll bare that in mind” He replied. Jane loved the make-up Demetri got her and thanked him with a hug “You’re welcome Jane” He replied low.
That night Demetri and Sophie read the children their personalised Christmas stories and tucked them into bed “Thank you for our gifts” Nico said to his parents “You’re both very welcome” Demetri replied kissing them both goodnight, Sophie kissed them goodnight too and left the room. Sophie and Demetri cuddled up in bed watching another Christmas movie “Thank you for today Dem. It’s been the best Christmas ever” “Thank you for today too, I think the kids had fun. It’s been my best Christmas too, especially as I gained a fiancé today” He replied “Me too and the ring is gorgeous” She leant up and kissed him enjoying being held in her mate’s arms.
Sophie discovered from Gianna that the city has a New Year’s Eve firework display every year and decided that her and Demetri were going to take Nico and Ellie to see this display. “Sophie due to my vampire hearing I’ll be standing near the back otherwise my ears will be ringing and I won’t enjoy the firework display” Demetri said as he got Nico ready “That’s ok. The noise is likely to be loud for Ellie too, so I bought her some earmuffs” Sophie as she puts a pair of beige earmuffs on her “Maybe you should have got daddy a pair too” Nico says laughing, earning a glare from Demetri. Sophie choked back a laugh and replied “I didn’t think that. Maybe I’ll get him a pair for next year” “Just make sure they’re black” Demetri replied with a straight face “Yes sir” Sophie called out and saluted him “Mummy thinks she’s so funny” Demetri said looking between the children, a small smirk on his lips “Mummy is funny” Nico replied smiling “Little traitor” Demetri muttered and Nico just shrugged.
Once outside in the city square, they found a space amongst the crowd that ensured Sophie and Nico could see the fireworks but that wouldn’t be uncomfortable for Demetri. Ellie appeared to like the colours of the fireworks, the earmuffs doing their job of muffling the loud noise, she kept tapping Demetri and pointing to the sky smiling and Demetri couldn’t help smiling at her reaction, finding it rather cute “What do you think of the fireworks buddy?” “I think they’re cool, the different colours and noises they make” Nico replied looking up at his dad, whilst still holding Sophie’s hand “Thank you for this cara mia” Demetri said low into his mate’s ear “For what?” She asked confused “For giving me the chance to experience a ‘human’ family life of my own, something I never got to have…obviously” He replied low kissing her cheek “I really do have the best of both worlds with you and the children” He added “I’m glad. I just want to nurture Nico’s human side and for him to make as many memories as possible in his accelerated childhood, after all he’s going to watch Ellie grow up at a slower rate, making memories and I don’t want him missing out on anything” She replied “You really are the best mummy in the world and I’m so proud to call you my mate” He responded wrapping arm around her, holding his family close “You are the best daddy in the world and I couldn’t have asked for a better mate handsome” She leant up and kissed his lips “Happy New Year” “Happy New Year Soph” He smiled at her as they continued to watch the fireworks, seeing in the New Year as a family.

Content below the cut
Ji-eun (RM’s girlfriend)
Ji-eun would put a lot of thought into her Christmas presents and is someone who would actually put a lot of importance on the big day itself. As someone with a busy, stressful job, she would allow Christmas to be a time where she, for once, puts everything down and can enjoy spending quality time with those she loves. We also think Christmas would be a time which takes her back to her childhood and reminds her of happier, easier times. While keeping things fairly minimal and classic, she would like decorating a tree and the home a few days prior, especially if Namjoon was with her to help. She would also enjoy the more domestic aspects of cooking the dinner and wrapping presents, which is something she might not usually get time to do at other times of the year.
For a gift, she wouldn’t mind spending quite a lot of money on a thoughtful present for Namjoon but would not go too overboard. It would be more about the gift itself than the money spent, so if she did find something cheaper but which she knew he would like, she would go for that. She would not be afraid to put the time and research into finding something he would love. Gifts would include a timeless but unique watch, art prints or original paintings and coffee table books on art and architecture; something that would look good in the home as well as being informative. As they enjoy travelling together, visiting historical landmarks and museums, she would have a good idea on the type of art or architecture he is interested in, and it would be a bonus if she too enjoyed it, so they could find out more together. She would love cuddling up with him in the evening, both full from their dinner, and reading the book she bought him together with a glass of mulled wine.
Min-seo (Jin’s wife)
Min-seo and Jin would both get very excited about Christmas in the weeks leading up to it. Of all the members they would start their Christmas shopping and decorating the earliest, especially once they become parents. They would love putting together the tree as a family, as well as handmaking some of the decorations. She would find a lot of sentimental value in the baubles they made and would keep them safe every year; reminding them both of their early years as a family. They would cook the dinner together, with Jin most likely taking the lead, and would spend the day seeing to family and friends; finally able to spend some family time together in the evening watching a film or playing with the new toys given to Eun-ju.
Min-seo is most likely to get Jin something personalised, such as a family album or picture frame with photos of them and their daughter, engraved keyrings or a wallet with his name on it along with a special message. She would also buy gifts to him from their daughter. He would definitely have a ‘best dad’ mug lying around the house. Jin would also be most likely to dress as Santa for their daughter while giving her the presents. Min-seo would find it really fun and goofy, but we could imagine baby Eun-ju might be a bit frightened at first, not recognising her dad under the fake beard, and would cry until he lifted it and reassured her.
Jeong-sun (Suga’s wife)
While they would not go overboard, Yoongi and Jeong-sun would make the effort to get in the festive spirit by putting up a tree in the days leading up to Christmas. Neither are particularly artistic or enthusiastic when it comes to decorating, so we could see it looking a bit pathetic and bare; which they would both find hilarious. We think they both would feel that Christmas was more about other people, so they would make the effort to see their family and friends in the morning; going around to those they could to drop off presents. They would also be most thankful if they were invited around to someone else’s for Christmas dinner, such as Min-seo and Jin’s or Nana and Hoseok’s as they wouldn’t have to think about cooking and would appreciate the company for a few hours.
If they weren’t invited anywhere, they would make the dinner together, with Jeong-sun taking on the less arduous tasks of chopping the vegetables and making the stock for gravy. While they would undoubtedly end up making too much food for just the two of them, they would find a lot of unexpected joy in doing something like this together; sipping wine while preparing the food and finding themselves quite giggly and merry by the time it is finished. There might be a small kitchen disaster such as burning the meat or setting a teatowel on fire, but since neither have expectations of having ‘the perfect day’, anything which went wrong would not stress them out. Later in their relationship, it would be more likely that with Jeong-sun as a nurse, she might not be able to have Christmas day off work. In this case, they wouldn’t be against having a less traditional Christmas dinner together in the evening which was easier to make.
While they would buy gifts for each other, neither would go overboard or buy anything too expensive. They are more likely to buy each other something thoughtful and practical, but that they wouldn’t necessarily get themselves. Jeong-sun would leave anything too technical he might need (such as music equipment, headphones etc.) to him, since she wouldn’t know where to start. Instead, she’s likely to get him something for the kitchen he might want but does not have, such as a new rice cooker, or something useful like the thermos travel mug she bought him for his birthday one year. If she was struck on what to get him, a nice, well-reviewed but not overly expensive bottle of single malt scotch would be her go-to gift. She knows he would be grateful and they would like sharing the first glass together in the evening as they curled up on the sofa together, half-watching a Christmas film and chatting about nothing in particular.
Nana (J-Hope’s girlfriend)
As a teacher, Nana would be in the festive mood quite a while before the actual big day, having made cards and ornaments with her class. She would love spending the day with Hoseok, dedicating some time in the morning to phoning or visiting family before preparing the dinner together with her boyfriend. They would be most likely to steer away from the traditional Christmas lunch and instead try out a new recipe. Since they are both toying around with veganism, they would look up the instructions beforehand, enjoying going grocery shopping together in search of the ingredients, and experimenting in the kitchen on the big day. Hoseok would turn into a child again as they exchanged gifts - having hand made each other cards, Christmas ornaments and decorations. Of course, there would also be a lot of decorations made by her pupils, and she would love telling him stories about the kids as they hung each one on their tree. They might also derive from the traditional Christmas tree and decorate a big plant she already had in the apartment. They would also love wreath-making together; having undoubtedly gone to a class at some point in their relationship and making a tradition of doing so again at home together each year. They would view Christmas as a time for loved ones and sharing, so would eagerly invite others over for dinner if they thought it might make the day more special for them.
We think they would make a habit of buying each other a festive-themed flowers as a gift, as Hoseok would love receiving bouquets just as much as Nana, and she would also buy him something practical but unique, such as a vegan-leather satchel, wallet or keyring she bought from a small, local business or seller online. She would also not be against buying him a new shirt or two in bright, bold colours and fun prints, knowing they will always come in useful.
Ara (Jimin’s girlfriend)
Jimin and Ara would put a lot of effort into spending the big day together with their busy schedules and would want everything to be perfect. They would love shopping for decorations and a new tree each year and might have several around their apartment, including a pink, artificial one in the bedroom. They would choose a different theme each year and pick their decorations accordingly. They would also love getting in the mood in the days prior; drinking cocoa, watching Christmas films and hand-making Christmas cards for their friends and family. They would attempt the perfect Christmas dinner together, with them both taking equal responsibility in the preparing and cooking. They would enjoy spending the whole day alone together, with everything very carefully planned and orchestrated, from opening the presents when they wake up, to unwinding in the evening. Because of this, if someone went wrong or did not go according to plan, they could both get quite flustered and upset as they have put so much time, effort and mental energy into the day.
Ara would have a good sense of Jimin’s fashion taste and is likely to pick him a few clothes and accessories as gifts such as a nice designer shirt, a new tie or a warm but fashionable scarf which would go with anything. She would be most likely to also put a lot of effort into wrapping the gifts, selecting the wrapping paper, gift tags and ribbons carefully.
Cassandra (V’s girlfriend)
Taehyung and Cassandra would be most likely to argue over how to spend the big day as they would both have their own Christmas traditions and idea of what makes the perfect day. This would undoubtedly become even more tense once Gabriel is born, as they would need to plan how to give him the best day they could, while also orchestrating the fact they need to agree on a plan. Although they have broken up at the time he is born, Taehyung would want to spend most of the day with them, trying their best to give him a ‘normal family’ Christmas. Cassandra would not object to this, but might need to put her foot down at certain ideas. They are both incredibly stubborn but would reach some kind of agreement or compromise in the end including who should cook and what. Taehyung, regardless, would make himself useful and ensure he brings plenty of food and drink and change and feed Gabriel when Cassandra is busy doing other things.
While Taehyung’s gifts to both Cassandra and Gabriel would always be elaborate and expensive; with a lot of thought and individuality going into what he thinks they would like, we think Cassandra would be less likely to spend a lot of money on Taehyung but still get him something she knows he would love. This would always be the case, even prior to having the baby, as she knows he would always appreciate the thoughtfulness of the gift over the cost. She has the best idea of anyone what his taste in fashion, art and music is, so would be able to buy him something he would really love. Vintage records, antique curios and second-hand but quirky accessories would be among things she would buy him. She would also like to get him something useful but still within his taste, such as a William Morris printed glasses case or artfully designed stationary. Of all the couples, we feel Taeyung and Cassandra are the most comfortable in buying the other something they know they will love.
Young-soon (Jungkook’s girlfriend)
Jungkook and Young-soon would be most likely to enjoy spending Christmas with their families, so would visit both sets of parents during the day and alternate each year who they had Christmas dinner with. They would both help out with the cooking and would prepare a dish or dessert beforehand they could take with them. While they enjoy spending time together as a couple, they would get more out of being part of a bigger family and might even arrange for both sides of the family to meet as one. They would love watching people open their gifts and seeing their reactions. While they would decorate their apartment, they wouldn’t go too extreme as they wouldn’t be spending a lot of time actually at home.
Young-soon would find it quite hard to think of the perfect gift for Jungkook, mostly because his interests are quite vague or something better suited for his band members to buy him. She wouldn’t really know where to start when it came to, for example, getting him a video game he liked as he would game alone. Likewise, music equipment would be best left for Yoongi to gift him as she wouldn’t have the first idea of what would be of good quality. She knows he would love and appreciate her gift either way, so would be more likely to go for something quite traditional that he could wear for date nights or special occasions such as a nice quality tie pin or set of cufflinks. She would ensure to visit a tailors or high-end designer to get the best quality and with the best metals, and would choose something that would last and that he could keep forever.

Magic
1st Wand: Laurel wood with a dragon heartstring core, 12 ½" and solid flexibility
Laural wood:
• It is said that a laurel wand cannot perform a dishonorable act, although Ollivander has known them to perform powerful and sometimes lethal magic in the quest for glory.
• Seems unable to tolerate laziness in a possessor, and in such conditions, it is most easily and willingly worn away.
• Otherwise it will cleave happily to its first match forever and can issue a spontaneous lightning strike if another witch or wizard attempts to steal it.
Dragon Heartstrings: As a rule, dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon wands tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner. The dragon wand tends to be easiest to turn to the Dark Arts, though it will not incline that way of its own accord. It is also the most prone of the three cores to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.
2nd Wand: Vine wood with a phoenix feather core, 12 ½" and solid flexibility
Vine wood:
• Owners are nearly always those who seek a greater purpose, who have a vision beyond the ordinary and who frequently astound those who think they know them best.
• Vine wands seem strongly attracted to personalities with hidden depths and are more sensitive than any other when it comes to instantly detecting a prospective match.
• Reliable sources claim that vine wands emit magical effects upon the mere entrance into their room of a suitable owner.
Phoenix feather: Phoenix feathers are capable of the greatest range of magic, though they may take longer than either unicorn or dragon cores to reveal this. They show the most initiative, sometimes acting of their own accord, a quality that many witches and wizards dislike. Phoenix feather wands are always the pickiest when it comes to potential owners, for the creature from which they are taken is one of the most independent and detached in the world. These wands are the hardest to tame and to personalise, and their allegiance is usually hard won.
Special Abilities:
Animagus: Cheetah
Legilimency
Somehow understand what the dragon said (only Charlie know)
Boggart
Form: Jacob become Death Eater and kill her friends
Riddikulus: Jacob is wearing his lame pyjama and a sunglasses, vibing when listening to his music
Amortentia:
What they smell: vanilla, burning wood, smell of grass, rain and sunlight
What they smell like to others: chocolate with mint and smell of rain, sandalwood smell
Patronus
Form: Formerly a cheetah, later change to a dragon
Memory: Veiovis with her brother Jacob sitting next to each other, eating chocolate frogs and listening to music together; Veiovis shared Christmas with the Weasley at the Burrow
What they see in the Mirror of Erised: Standing with all of her friends, Jacob and family, happily together.

Christmas gifts to help you declutter your home
An astounding 81% of people say they feel stressed during the Christmas period1. Helen Sanderson MSc is a psychotherapist, interior designer and one of the UK’s most well-respected clutter experts, and she suggests that the accumulation of clutter, both physical and psychological, is one of the leading factors resulting in stress during the festive season. She has spent the last 15 years providing solutions in the face of clutter, and her book, kit and workshops will help you to clear your home, and in turn clear your mind as well. They will make an invaluable present for those you know who are struggling with clutter in the lead-up to the Christmas holidays. Buying, gifts, decorations, wrapping materials and Christmas cards are just some of the many ways in which clutter can build up in your living space over the course of the festive season. But in the immediate aftermath of the stresses and excesses of the festive period, the last thing most people want to do is declutter and organise their home. When the season comes around again however, all of those things will still be piled up somewhere and adding to your strain, especially as you are trying to make your place look presentable to visitors. Why it's a good idea to declutter Helen’s solutions revolve around the connection between our living space and our mental wellbeing. She believes that beneath every pile of clutter is a story to be told; a reason within oneself that explains why we struggle to keep our living space tidy. She refers to this as our “Clutter Why”, and once you understand your personal reason it empowers you to make a mental shift and start creating a clutter-free, organised and nurturing home. A practical solution that Helen suggests is “mindful decluttering”; tidying one’s home in a stress and pressure-free environment. One way in which this can be achieved is by decluttering in advance of Christmas and the festive period, so you have much less to clean and organise on the day itself and you can enjoy it with your guests. Many of Helen’s solutions to decluttering your home are explained in her book, The Secret Life of Clutter. It was published last year and has received much-deserved recognition and praise for highlighting the profound impact that decluttering can have on one’s mental wellbeing. Renowned film-maker and musician Jamie Catto recommends The Secret Life of Clutter and explains its influence. He said: “Helen Sanderson tells wonderful, moving, and inspiring stories of people whose blocked homes mirrored a blockage in their life. A beautiful read, filled with compassion and understanding.” The book recommends a realistic, simple approach to decluttering and building up to larger holidays and festivities. More information on The Secret Life of Clutter can be found here, and the book can be purchased online on Amazon. Sanderson’s belief is that clutter represents decisions that haven’t been made and actions that haven’t been taken. Her unique three-stage decluttering process is based on the analogy of transforming an overgrown garden through weeding, planting and maintaining. These aspects relate to mindful decluttering; carefully considered organising; and then building new habits and mindset so people can establish a better relationship with their homes. She is a longstanding member of APDO (Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers). Helen also founded interior design studio Ministry of Calm, working with clients such as the Guardian, 38 Degrees, University of Gloucester and Marie Curie, and describes working on the sacred space for a Marie Curie hospice as one of her peak experiences. She brings this interior design experience to bear on her client’s homes, alongside the organisational skills and psychological insight. This holistic approach combines into an intuitive ability to sense what needs to shift in both the person and their space. An artist by background, her career has taken twists and turns, but always woven its way between interior spaces and psychological space. She spends her time in her garden and in nature and is a lifelong student of Zen. Read the full article
